writing fics as someone who began writing in the avenue of poetry is so interesting.

i see myself accidentally writing poetry instead of a story, sometimes. like, here's an exerpt i just wrote for chapter 3 of my bloodweave fic:

“I love you.” It slips out of Astarion’s mouth like it’s his mother tongue. Like that phrase alone is his first, only and most commonly spoken — like it’s already fated to be his last, too. Like he was born, bloody and screaming, just to say it, and it alone. 

“I know.” A kiss on each finger of his left hand. On each knuckle. “I love you,” Gale responds.

No ‘too’. Gale made sure to never add a ‘too’. His love is stand-alone — it is not relative, nor an addition, to Astarion’s. It is its own entity, its own proclamation. It is not conditional. It, in of itself, is its own being. Breathing in conjunction to Astarion, not with him.

It's a promise.

like, idk. maybe im just egotystical but i think that's crazy. like what i just wrote there is insane to me, as someone who's trying to delve into storytelling through fics from a perspective of a poet (is it pompous to call yourself that?), i can't escape the inherent poem-y-ness of the way i write. it all just weaves together in the same way i'd weave my 4am yearning.

Summary: Astarion Ancunin works hard on his YouTube channel, sometimes spending weeks on the beautiful fashion films that show off his handcrafted gowns. His audience may be small but he's proud of his content. Which is why it's so godsdamned irritating when the self-named 'Wizard Of Waterdeep' starts posting hideous videos of his endless rambling and gets two million subscribers almost overnight.

Meanwhile, Gale Dekarios is selling his soul to make 'content' (ugh), just to try to get people to love magic again. He hates his channel and he hates himself, so he seeks solace in his favorite corner of the internet: r/galehaters — with his new online BFF, WhiteBat.

Why might Bloodweave be alone together in camp?

I have a fanfic in mind which I may or may not write, which involves them being alone at camp. My original idea was that there's just the six origin characters and they only go out in groups of four so the other two can rest, and rotate every day (my hc for why the biggest party is four). But I might do more than one chapter, and if I do, I have some scenes in mind that involve the six of them out on the road.

My other idea was to have it be night time and they're the only ones awake (Astarion because he's an elf and Gale's reading in his tent), which could work, but I'd prefer the first idea.

Can anyone think of a reason the others would be alone at camp? Or a reason that sometimes they go out in groups of four and sometimes all together? The only thing I can think of is that one or both of them is hurt/sick, which doesn't work because of the abundant healing magic available on Faerûn. Even death doesn't matter, really.
