Ant-Man a Wasp: Quantumania je připravovaný film, který natočí režisér James Cameron. Jde o první ze čtyř plánovaných sequelů Cameronova snímku Avatar (2009). Cameron již v roce 2006, tedy tři roky před premiérou prvního filmu, uvedl, že pokud bude úspěšný, natočí i sequel. Ten byl oficiálně oznámen v roce 2010. Původně bylo plánováno, že bude mít premiéru v roce 2014. Později bylo však jeho uvedení odloženo. Jeho vydání je naplánováno na 16. prosinec roku 2022.[2] Předběžné natáčení filmu začalo dne 15. srpna 2017 v kalifornském městě Manhattan Beach. 2009 - Aerosmith

Steven Tyler was airlifted to hospital after falling off stage during a gig at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. The 61-year-old Aerosmith singer fell from a catwalk onto a couple of fans, he suffered neck and shoulder injuries. About 30 minutes after the accident, guitarist Joe Perry came out to tell the crowd that the remainder of the show had been cancelled.

American singer, songwriter Robert Hazard died after surgery for pancreatic cancer. He wrote Cyndi Lauper's, ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’, and fronted Robert Hazard and the Heroes in the 80’s.

2007 - The Beatles

Beatles fans feared the misuse of the Fab Four’s music had hit rock bottom following the decision to license ‘All You Need Is Love’ for use in a nappy advert. Procter & Gamble had purchased the rights to use the song from Sony/ATV Music Publishing, which now owned Northern Songs, the Beatles’ catalogue. The ad featured a baby jumping on a teddy bear in a disposable nappy which offered ‘ultimate leak protection.’

2007 - James Brown

DNA testing on about a dozen people who claimed late soul star James Brown was their father revealed that at least two of them were telling the truth. A former adviser for the singer, Buddy Dallas, said he could not confirm exact figures, as further test results were forthcoming. His will, which was being disputed in court, named six children.

2005 - Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan's song 'Like a Rolling Stone' topped a poll of rock and film stars to find the music, movies, TV shows and books that changed the world. The 1965 single beat Elvis Presley's 'Heartbreak Hotel' into second place in a survey for Uncut magazine. Paul McCartney, Noel Gallagher, Robert Downey Jr, Rolling Stone Keith Richards and Lou Reed were among those who gave their opinions.

1993 - Randy Hobbs

Randy Hobbs, bass player with The McCoys, Edgar Winter Group and Motrose was found dead in his hotel room in Dayton Ohio from a drug overdose aged 45.

1992 - Jeff Porcaro

Jeff Porcaro drummer from Toto died age 38 from a heart attack. His death has been the subject of controversy: some say the attack was caused by an allergic reaction to garden pesticide, while others say Porcaro's heart was weakened by smoking and cocaine use. Porcaro also worked with many other acts including Sonny and Cher, Roger Waters, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Steely Dan, Paul Simon and Boz Scaggs.

1989 - Jive Bunny(….??????….)

Jive Bunny And The Mastermixers had their first of three UK No.1's with 'Swing The Mood'. Produced by the father and son DJ team of Andy and John Pickles, Swing the Mood fused a number of early rock and roll records with liberal use of Glenn Miller's 'In The Mood.'

1984 - Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen played the first of ten nights at the Meadowlands in New Jersey to mark the homecoming of the Born in the USA Tour.

1983 - David Crosby

Crosby Stills Nash & Young member David Crosby was sentenced to five years in jail in Texas for cocaine and firearms offences. Crosby had slept through most of his trial.

1979 - Def Leppard

Def Leppard signed to Phonogram records with an advance of £120,000 pounds ($180,000) giving them a 10% royalty on 100% of sales for the first two years.

1978 - The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Miss You' the group's eighth US No.1. The song was written by Mick Jagger after jamming with keyboardist Billy Preston during rehearsals for forthcoming club dates the Stones were playing.

1975 - Kim Fowley

Drummer Sandy West and guitarist Joan Jett formed the first ever all female heavy rock band after being introduced by producer Kim Fowley. The Runaways released four studio albums, among its best known songs: 'Cherry Bomb', 'Queen's of Noise' and a cover of the Velvet Underground's 'Rock n Roll'.

1969 - George Harrison

George Harrison had his new Moog synthesizer brought into the studio for The Beatles to use in finishing their forthcoming album Abbey Road. Moog overdubs were recorded onto the new song 'Because'.

1968 - Luther Perkins

American country guitarist Luther Perkins died at the age of 40 as a result of severe burns and smoke inhalation. Perkins fell asleep at home in his den with a cigarette in his hand. He was dragged from the fire unconscious with severe second and third degree burns. Perkins never regained consciousness. He worked with Johnny Cash and The Carter Family and featured on the live album Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison.

1965 - Jan and Dean

Jan Berry of Jan and Dean was accidentally knocked off a camera car and broke his leg on the first day of filming a new film Easy Come, Easy Go. Several other people were also hurt, causing Paramount to cancel the movie entirely.

1957 - American Bandstand

American Bandstand first aired on US TV. Dick Clark had replaced Bob Horn the previous year when the show was still called Bandstand, Clark went on to host the show until 1989. Countless acts appeared on the show over the years, including ABBA, The Doors, Talking Heads, Madonna, Otis Redding, R.E.M. and Pink Floyd.

1956 - Doris Day

Doris Day was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Whatever Will Be Will Be', the singer actress' second UK No.1 single. The Oscar-winning song was featured in Alfred Hitchcock's 1956 film, The Man Who Knew Too Much, with Doris Day and James Stewart in the lead roles.

“I was eleven years old when the LA riots broke out in ’92 – littering my hometown with fires and looting, with curfews and recklessness. I happened to be at school when the mayhem began, keeping me and my classmates on lockdown until it was safe for our parents to pick us up. We didn’t fully understand what was going on, so to distract us from the soundtrack of sirens outside of our little red school house, they turned on the TV to “The Price is Right.” A smart choice, seeing as Bob Barker was just talking about microwaves and sofa sets. No real controversy there unless you happen to be offended by polyester paisley print. But during the commercial break an ad for the clear Ivory dishwashing liquid came on including a tagline that said “Women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans.” The boys in my class (Michael & Joey to be specific) said “Yeah, that’s where women belong – in the kitchen.” I remember feeling confused – feeling angry and annoyed, knowing they were wrong – and yet knowing that I felt small – too small to say anything in that moment. When I got home, the lemon tree in my front yard charred from passing rioters, I decided to write some letters: to First Lady Hillary Clinton, to Linda Ellerbee (a TV commentator who hosted a kids news program on Nickelodeon), to powerhouse attorney Gloria Allred, and to Procter & Gamble. I put pen to paper, telling them what happened and that I thought the commercial should be changed. I didn’t realize it then, but it was on this day – this dramatic day clouded in smoke and confusion, where ashes fell like snowflakes in the Southern California sky – that I became a feminist.

Everyone responded to my letters except for Procter & Gamble. First Lady Clinton encouraged my taking a stand, Ms. Allred offered her help and commended my trying to effect change, and Linda Ellerbee sent a TV crew to feature me on her show. By the time the episode aired, and with this tremendous support, Procter & Gamble, in fact, changed the commercial to “People all over America.”

Last Saturday, I had the incredible honor of being a presenter at the United Nations Headquarters for the UN Women’s HeForShe launch event on gender equality. I spent some time last month shadowing Elizabeth Nyamayaro (Senior Advisor to Under Secretary-General & Executive Director at UN Women, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka). I traveled to DC and to NY, sitting in on meetings everywhere from The Clinton Foundation to the World Bank to the War Room for the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon. But it was here at the HeForShe campaign, the call to action for boys and men all over the world to support this gender solidarity movement, that I sat directly across from UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador, Emma Watson, as she delivered an inimitable speech on feminism.

Emma, at just 24 years old, brought to the forefront the clear facts of how crippling it is for a society to have women undervalued and marginalized, and how that devastates not just the female population, but the entire population. The conversation about feminism in the past had always been a “women’s” issue, but this call to action reminds men that gender equality is everyone’s issue. The experience was surreal – seated in the inner circle with everyone from the UN Secretary General, to the first female president of Finland, Tarja Halonen, to the Executive Director of UN Women to Wolf Blitzer, Gary Barker, Kiefer Sutherland, and several other power players in this fortunate few. Plus, the palpable energy of a crowd with both men and women who believe in this cause – a crowd that understands that “feminism” is not a word that should be taboo – Feminism, in fact, is not the “F” word.

Emma said: 'In my nervousness for this speech and in my moments of doubt I’ve told myself firmly—if not me, who, if not now, when. If you have similar doubts when opportunities are presented to you I hope those words might be helpful.' These simple and poignant words would have made my eleven year old self feel less small, and made my present day 33 year old self proudly rise to give a standing ovation.

I challenge all of you to join the HeForShe movement - to stand up for the girls and women who need their voices to be heard. And to Joey and Michael, from my 6th grade class, if you happen to read this, I hope that you will sign your names to help spearhead this pivotal moment in gender equality. If not you, who? If not now, when?”

Aaron Sorkin: Bob Greenblatt, who’s the head of NBC, called me 9 months ago or something, and said, “Listen, I want you to do The West Wing again in some form. You can do it for 9 episodes, 13 episodes. You can do it with a different cast, the same cast…” It was incredible because it didn’t seem to be a commercial pitch that he was making, he was just so bummed out by the world… He just wanted to see the show. Incredibly, the show has a legacy, and the last thing I would want to do is harm that. So if I can come up with an idea that doesn’t feel like A Very Brady Christmas, if I can come up with an idea that works, yeah! I would absolutely do it.

Does America Need More Authentic Ads? I Say Yes...

Can ads – particularly within the digital sphere – help inspire change? Modern advertising needs to reflect the diverse fabric of America. By promoting equity in advertisements, marketers give underrepresented groups influence and power. This isn’t a new topic among advertising and marketing professionals. However, the time has come to spark conversations into action around the four distinct issues of diversity, equality, equity and inclusion. Equity in advertising is one very important area that’s been overlooked in the industry. To date, the topic of equity is nearly absent in ongoing discussions about promoting fairness in advertising practices. By promoting advertising equity, marketing professionals can drive the industry toward an attitude that’s more representative of society. Nevertheless, after decades of ongoing discussion, there’s still a marked disparity between the appearance of mainstream advertisements and the composition of society. For some reason, the marketing industry has chosen to ignore the divide between an idealized world and reality.

A Call for Diversity and Inclusion

This trend continues even as a multitude of studies show that the United States is growing increasingly diverse. Also, it’s questionable whether many influential marketers understand that diversity extends beyond ethnicity. Still, marketers find ways to segment and capture the attention of various audiences. Whether people vary in age, gender identity or economic status, marketers find a way to resonate with specific groups. Relatively recently however, more marketing thought leaders acknowledge the need for professional diversity to promote real diversity in advertising. The need for diversity in advertising and marketing is no secret. 91-percent of marketing professionals in a recent industry survey expressed that they believe that there is a need for more diversity in the field. The poll showed that lack of diversity is a weak spot among United States corporations. From a business aspect, corporate and media diversity is essential for relating to a blended consumer base. Studies show that 83-percent of people respond positively to marketing communications that represent contemporary society. This shows that diversity is simply good business. It allows brands to elicit improved responses from a consumer base that is constantly evolving.

Working Toward Change

Media Village sponsors AdvancingDiversity.org, which hosts the Advancing Diversity of Hall Honors. The award recognizes marketing professionals who promote best practices for progressing diversity and inclusion. In 2019, marketing thought leader Jack Myers announced award recipients at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show. The forward-thinking initiative takes a different approach toward recognizing achievement. During the ceremony, the moderator led all attendees in exploring diversity, an award ceremony format developed at the Sundance Institute. The Advancing Diversity of Hall Honors program is designed to help marketing industry leaders find common ground in promoting diversity. During commencement, award winners stimulate discussion about the topic. This year, the organization inducted eight nominees: - Alma Har’el of #FreeTheBid - Bob Liodice of the Alliance of National Advertisers - Diego Scotti of Verizon - Kat Gordon of the 3 Percent Movement - Madonna Badger of Badger&Winters - Marc Pritchard of Procter&Gamble - Pam El of the NBA - Ricardo Marques of the InBev Group The award ceremony was followed by the Inclusive Talent Job Fair. Event organizers designed the fair as a natural complement to the proceeding ceremony.

Be Bold, Make a Difference

Marketing professionals can work toward diversity and inclusion by learning more about pressing social issues and participating in civic engagement. In today’s information fueled society, marketing professionals have access to nearly unlimited information about opportunities to affect change. Diversity and inclusion advocates can participate in civic engagement by voicing their opinion in public forums and on social media, as well as by emailing government officials and contributing to online petitions. Advocates can also support the cause of their choice by joining community groups and campaigning for causes. Furthermore, it’s important to stay informed about political issues that affect diversity and inclusion and represent your views by voting on key legislation. A segment of the population has always been drawn to civic engagement. However, there was a sharp spike in civic engagement in 2017, when a Senate office received 46,000 email communications from the public. This was a 4,500-percent spike compared to the previous year. In addition, average attendance at nationwide town hall meetings surged from approximately 20 to 50 residents to nearly 300 individuals at each gathering. Apparently, the public is increasingly recognizing that they must participate in government in order to foster fair representation. Marketers can take an act example from the nation’s constituents by working toward filling gaps in diversity and inclusion in corporate America. The comedy Queenpins features a talented cast coming together to tell a crazy true story. Written and directed by Aron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly, Queenpins is about two housewives who created a $40 million coupon scam. The idea started just as a way for their two families to make ends meet as they struggled to pay the bills. However, they quickly learned that with a little crime, they could actually make money off of it.

Illegal couponing doesn’t seem like a high-level crime, but the two women manage to grow rich off their scheme. Their unbelievable success eventually catches the attention of law enforcement. A Loss Prevention Officer and U.S. Postal Inspector lead the investigation into their activities, encountering multiple humorous setbacks along the way. While the characters in the 2021 movie Queenpins call out systemic inequality and the downfalls of capitalism, it’s unlikely that their real-life counterparts shared these same sentiments. In 2012, investigators found millions of dollars worth in forged coupons.

Queenpins is playing in theaters with plans to stream on Paramount+ in the near future. The movie takes a more lighthearted angle on the real story, having to combine or tweak some of the people involved in order to work better as a film. Here’s the cast and character guide for Queenpins, along with comparisons to some of the characters’ counterparts in real life.

Kristen Bell stars as Connie Kaminski, a suburban housewife who just wants to find a solution for the debt burying her and her husband. Connie initially comes up with the couponing scheme, eventually teaming up with her friend to help her pull off the biggest coupon scam in U.S. history. Her real-life counterpart is Robin Ramirez, who police considered the ringleader of the criminal operation. At the time of her arrest, investigators discovered Ramirez had four online accounts and 12 bank accounts. Along with paying Procter & Gamble millions of dollars, Ramirez had to serve jail time.

Bell has extensive experience in Broadway, television, and film, leading successful TV series like Veronica Mars and The Good Place. She displays considerable comedy chops in films like Bad Moms and is also well-known for her role as Anna in Disney’s Frozen franchise. Bell will next be lending her voice to the animated show Do, Re & Mi, as well as appearing in the miniseries The Woman in the House.

Kirby Howell-Baptiste co-stars as JoJo Johnson, an aspiring YouTube vlogger and Connie’s partner in crime. JoJo combines two people in real life: Amiko Fountain and Marilyn Johnson. Johnson helped package and ship the coupons to customers, and Fountain placed hologram stickers on some of them to make them look more legitimate. Although both women also had to financially reimburse P&G, they did not have to serve jail time for their part in the scheme. Howell-Baptiste previously worked with Bell on Veronica Mars and The Good Place. She is also known for her appearances in Killing Eve and Cruella. She can next be seen in the indie film Silent Night and later in The Sandman TV series.

Bebe Rexha is the tech genius, Tempe Tina. Rexha’s character helps Connie and JoJo evade the authorities, mainly by strengthening their internet security. She suggests making fake identities and multiple accounts to store their earnings. Tempe Tina does not have a real-life counterpart. She was most likely added to the script for comedic reasons in order to frame Connie and JoJo as being in over their heads and desperately needing outside help. In reality, the women seemed to have a better grasp of how to stay under the radar than the movie portrays, which enabled them to avoid police detection for so long. Queenpins is Rexha’s first major acting role. Previously, she worked as a singer and songwriter, penning hits like Eminem and Rihanna’s “The Monster” and collaborating with bands such as Florida Georgia Line. She has also worked on soundtracks for movies like Abominable and, most recently, He’s All That.

Paul Walter Hauser as Ken Miller – Paul Walter Hauser plays Loss Prevention Officer Ken Miller, whose rather unexciting job takes a turn when he discovers the fake coupon scheme. Hauser previously worked with Howell-Baptiste in Cruella and also appeared in I, Tonya. He can next be seen in the movie Delia’s Gone.

Vince Vaughn as Simon Kilmurry – Vince Vaughn plays Simon Kilmurry, a U.S. postal inspector who works with Ken to investigate the coupon scam. His character represents the law enforcement in charge of tracking down the women responsible. Vince Vaughn’s other movies include many big-budget action films and comedies such as The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and Wedding Crashers. Vaughn is also currently appearing in the series Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Joel McHale as Rick Kaminski – McHale plays Connie’s husband who is worried about their growing amount of debt. McHale is perhaps best known for his role in Community, and will next be starring in the series Black Box.

Dayo Okeniyi as Earl – Okeniyi plays Earl, who just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, which results in a hilarious interrogation scene with Ken and Simon. Okeniyi appeared in The Hunger Games and Run Sweetheart Run, and his next role is in Greek Freak.

Nick Cassavetes as Captain Pain – Cassavetes plays Captain Pain in Queenpins. His filmography contains works such as Face/Off, The Astronaut’s Wife, and The Hangover Part II, and he will next be appearing in The Ogilvy Fortune.

Jack McBrayer as Agent Park – McBrayer has extensive experience in comedy. Before playing Agent Park, he was in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Wreck-It Ralph, Bob’s Burgers, and many others.

Annie Mumolo as Crystal – Mumolo appears in the minor role of Crystal. She has previously appeared with Bell on Bad Moms, but her claim to fame has been in screenwriting. Mumolo was an Academy Award-nominated screenwriter for the romantic comedy Bridesmaids. Her next acting role is for the movie Confess, Fletch.

Hasonló aránnyal büszkélkedhet a mögötte következő Robert Kotick, aki az internetes játékokat készítő Activision Blizzard egyik szülőatyja. Az Activisiont 27 éve irányítja, s ezzel a legrégebb óta szolgáló vezérigazgatónak számít a technológiai vállalatok körében.

A top 10-et Margaret Whitman, a Hewlett-Packard Enterprise vezére zárja, aki jelen állás szerint jövőre vagy nem, vagy legfeljebb más cég képviseletében férhet fel a listára. A 2,8 milliárd dollárjával Kalifornia egyik leggazdagabb üzletasszonyaként ismert Whitman ugyanis februárban kilépett cégétől, s lehet, hogy ismét megpróbálkozik a politikusi pályával. A republikánusokat támogató Whitman eddig sok sikerélményt nem gyűjtött be, akit támogatott, az alulmaradt a választásokon, ahogy ő maga sem tudta 2010-ben elnyerni a kaliforniai kormányzói posztot.

Az eBay aukciós portált nagyvállalattá fejlesztő Whitman egyébként illusztris tagja volt az „egydolláros vállalatvezetők klubjának”. A HP-hez 2011-ben csatlakozva évi fizetését egy dollárban kötötte ki, igaz, nem sokáig rekedt meg ezen a szinten. Ahogy jöttek az eredmények, úgy emelkedett a jövedelme is. Érdekesség, hogy az egydollárosok táborában több ismert névvel is találkozhatunk. Olyanokéval, akik kalandvágyból, vagy a megbízás elnyerése érdekében érték be ennyivel, vagy már akkora vagyont halmoztak fel, hogy a dollármilliós kereset vonzereje nem hat rájuk, inkább hobbiból vállalják el a cég – többnyire saját vállalkozásuk – vezetését.

A Szilícium-völgyben dolgozó technológiai cégeknél, startupokból kinőtt óriásoknál különösen divatos az egydolláros bér. Ami persze jelkép is egyben, hiszen ezek a társaságok más módon kompenzálják vezérük áldozatvállalását. A divatot a tech szektorban az Applehez 1997-ben visszatért alapító, Steve Jobs teremtette meg, s ma olyanok tartoznak a klubhoz, mint az Alphabet/ Google-társalapító Larry Page, a Facebookot életre hívó Mark Zuckerberg vagy a Tesla szülőatyja, Elon Musk. Utóbbi most még a jelképes egy dollárt sem veszi fel, de ha cége értéke megtízszereződik s eléri a 650 milliárd dollárt, akkor ösztönzésképpen 55 milliárdért adhat el a Tesla részvényeiből. Ez kellő motivációt ad az ilyen téren amúgy sem szűkölködő innovátornak. Végül ne feledkezzünk meg az üzletemberből elnökké előlépett Donald Trumpról sem, aki évi 400 ezer dolláros fizetését jótékony célokra fordítja, s szintén egy dollárt tart meg magának.
