I can’t wait to share more with you! • In this week’s lesson, @diannebondyyoga is talking about the power of language, but the thing that stuck out to me the most in this lesson was a quote she shared: “You can’t heal a body that you hate.” • Wow. This has been so true for me. For a long time, I really hated my body and resented it for being chronically ill. And I just kept getting sicker and sicker. It wasn’t until I began cultivating a kinder relationship with my body that I was finally able to move in the direction of healing. • If loving your body doesn’t feel possible right now, that’s okay. Dianne talks about cultivating “body neutrality,” which I think can feel a lot more doable for those of us who live with chronic illnesses or chronic pain. You don’t have to love your body in order to treat it with respect. You don’t have to love your body in order to stop saying mean things about it. Dianne describes this as “calling a cease-fire” with your body, even if it’s just during the time you’re on your yoga mat. • If this is something you’re struggling with, I would encourage you to ask yourself: would I say this thing about someone else’s body? Step outside of yourself for a moment. If your friend was talking about their body this way, would you agree with them? What advice would you give them if they were struggling to accept their body? • Your body is your home, and you deserve to live in a home that is peaceful and safe.
