everyone has their preference so this isn't a genuine issue, but tommyarthur is this oddly underexplored/misunderstood dynamic in this fandom despite arthur being the deuteragonist and also just the sheer fact that he and tommy spent *a lot* of time together on screen. whether as a ship or like just as a regular fraternal/platonic relationship, it's incredibly dynamic and yet ...

I think the boy called Felix is really significant in Ed's manifestation-of-self-hate Hornigold process. Unlike in real life, Blackbeard is meant to have gone on as a business for decades, and so anything Hornigold did would be a distant memory. That he remembers him threatening to flay HIS skin "and feed it back to him" is one thing, but he remembers the boy Felix, he remembers his name, and what happened to him recounted with righteous disapproval.
Hornigold isn't the vessel of his hated persona by chance, he's the worst he could imagine, and seemingly the one he tried to emulate in his Kraken era as the worst behaviour he could imagine, including a drug abuse to make him not think about his behaviour.
As a captain himself, Ed has clearly stayed away from becoming that before. Yes, he was still revered, but it was inclining towards admiration, most of all for his brains, even while implementing certain stern rules like the pets one, or ordering a British soldier's skin flayed when openly disrespected before his crew, because he will not be seen as taking such audacity lightly.
People act like Izzy was actually doing all the work, but it is Ed he turns to for a "plan" the second time we see them while in peril. If Izzy was there to expedite things as a follower - what a first mate should do - Ed was always the one they turned to to follow, with clearly there being trust there was a reason to.
It's very significant and in line with "I've never seen Blackbeard like this" that Ed trying to personify the Kraken (again, clearly actually inspired by his memories of Hornigold) as "the worst him" was never even him. The real Ed/Blackbeard remembers Felix, some random boy in the crew treated unfairly in a most aghast, judgemental way once he's looking at this "dark persona" from the outside.

What got you into bmc?
Okay so this once has- quite a few layers to it! My best friend(she/her) and I always listen to songs when we have sleepovers (context: sleepovers are the only time we see each other in person because she lives an hour away) and she and I listened to quite a few BMC songs years ago (even more context: She already knew of the musical I think) Then a few months, or a year (I'm horrible at timeline don't mind me) later I had one of the songs in my head, and I was so confused 'cause It felt like a million(/hyperbolic) songs in one I don't remember what next quite as well, I think I looked it up and actually found Be More Chill (Two Rivers cast recording if I remember correctly) And that was it for me I listened to Upgrade so many times and I just kinda- Well now BMC's stuck in my brain forever and it's all I ever think about and I basically eat sleep and breathe BMC (slightly hyperbolic but also I don't think I've gone a day without thinking about BMC at least once since I got into it) TLDR: Friend got me to listen to songs, songs got stuck in my head, now BMC is stuck in my head

Today I saw a post where an important person in the community (you're crazy if you think I'm gonna mention them by name lmao) made a post asking for older members of the fandom to show up.
I got surprised seeing so many familiar names! Positively!
To be honest I have a lot of anxiety about growing up, specially getting older than 30. I feel like real adult life starts there and I should stop doing fun things. Is what I've been told it'll happen, is what I've seen in most of the adults around me.
Seeing so many older people enjoying fandom, being active, having fun... Gives me hope. And makes me feel better about "not being mature enough" at this age I am right now. There is no age at which one should stop having fun. And I love having so many positive examples about it here.
I hope you all stick around, and keep making the life of everyone around you amazing! ^^

Prunelle and Gaston for the character bingo?
Prunelle:
Tumblr media
Gaston:
Tumblr media
They both look good though because of Franquin's art style, Prunelle especially has a nice aesthetic, not cool exactly though.
I still love these two.

I love it when people use "shrimp" to mean "beyond the human range". like "shrimp colors" but applied to other things. "shrimp emotions" "shrimp sounds" "shrimp morality", as if shrimp are living some kind of transcendent existence that humans can never comprehend

Me, after forgetting to cut the top off an onion before dicing it: “Aw dammit”
The Gordon Ramsey that lives in my head: “Don’t worry there, this mistake isn’t going to ruin anything. No need to be too hard on yourself”
Me: “Wow, that’s…not what I was expecting”
Gordon: “Of course, you ought to know by now that I don’t shout at cooks just to do so. I do it because the people in hit television show Kitchen Nightmares are putting their services out into the public and claim to be good enough to have the title of head chef. You’re just some guy in your twenties making beef stroganoff for yourself and your roommate. I’m kind of a dick, yeah, but I’m not gonna scream at you for a minor mistake like this”
Me: “Oh….well…thanks”
Gordon: “You’re welcome…cunt…”

"people show their true colours in life threatening situations" no, they show you what they act like when they're mortally terrified, an emotion notorious for literally turning your entire brain off to the point where people who go into those situations as a profession need to be literally trained on how to not have that happen

The Barbie movie reminded me about how when I was little my parents were upset that I kept making my Barbie dolls kiss, so they bought me a Ken doll. The next day they found me having a funeral for poor Ken in the garden, he had died of tuberculosis. All the Barbies were in attendance and I buried him under our rose bush. The Barbies were too poor to afford a headstone (it was 1875) so I didn’t mark where the grave was and I never could find him again. He’s probably still there.
