i got souyo brainworms again and i gotta share some thoughts i have

this ones a long one so ill put a 'keep reading' thing here just in case yall dont wanna scroll past a wall of text

basically some headcanons about a healthy mix of chad narukami and normal yu, injecting loads of gap moe into this guy

(and it eventually devolves into some weird semi-story because my brains really spiralling here)

okok so, hear me out, chad narukami isnt that bad as an idea...? maybe as a more calm iteration, just another layer to yu

in the p4 manga, we get to see some of yu's backstory. (its been a while since ive read it so i might get some details wrong but) his parents are very busy people, always working and moving around, so yu's always moving around with them

because of this, hes a very independent but also lonely kid. poor guy doesnt talk much with his own mom and dad, and he never really have a good enough chance to form lasting friendships

so when he moves to inaba and starts making friends there, hes like 'oh i really want to keep these guys around...' so he starts putting up a bit of a persona (hah), some cool, unfazed guy that everyone can rely on thinking thats what people might like more. to his credit, it works pretty well, but its a bit stifling for yu himself. hes never had this many friends though, so he'll keep it up

we all know yosuke admires him quite a fair bit as is, just as a dependable friend and a strong leader. he looks up to yu in these aspects, thinking hes basically the perfect guy. (and lets never unpack that thought.) talented, charming, 'gets all the ladies', that kind of stuff

at some point its just the two of them, maybe walking home from school or something, yu gets pretty comfortable and his facade slips a little. maybe he says something completely silly, or heavens forbid theres a stray cat along the road! ("awww look at the little guy, cmeree, pspsps- oh- ahem- uh, its pretty cute...") it surprises yosuke quite a bit. he's thinking about it a lot as they part ways, it was... definitely a new side to his partner, but its also not a bad thing...

after that, yosuke starts noticing more small things about yu. whenever he invites anyone to share his lunch, its always something they like. whenever the IT are talking, he makes sure no one feels left out. he likes cats, a lot more than hes willing to show, and he loves nanako a whole lot too. his partner's... a bit of a softie under that calm and collected vibe, isnt he?

(alternatively, it'd be really funny if the entire IT knew? like "yeah, hes got a straight face all the time and sparkles fly around him whenever he strikes a pose, but hes got a dedicated schedule for hanging out with us and hes always asking when we're free. hes a big puppy, really.")

anyways, yosuke tries to encourage him to show more of this other side of him. stuff like "c'mon, we'll think you're cool either way!" and yu at first is a little hesitant, so yosuke suggests he just try it out with him

he feels some pride about it, because hes the first to learn about this side of yu! his partner trusts him the most, hes the most comfortable around him! (whats this strange other feeling? hm. dont like that.)

yu takes a little more time with the others, but theyre very welcoming about it nonetheless. specifically, they find it very charming! (making cute shapes in your bento? sewing cute stuffed toys with kanji? playing with literally every single stray cat you lay your eyes on? hell yeag.)

of course the facade doesnt completely shatter, because some parts of it are still true to yu. its just that he'll now crack the dumbest joke youve heard in your life with the same old straight face

(aaand now to derail for the sappy stuff huhuhu)

because yosuke's usually the first to be exposed to whatever new shenanigans yu's up to, eventually he starts getting some... weirder things. he brings some of it up to the other IT members and he looks insane, like:

"what? he hasnt been giving you guys origami?"

"why would he? i mean itd be cool, but thats just his part-time job isnt it? hes probably sick of paper cranes!"

"cranes... haha, yeah..." (as he thinks about the row of stupid paper animals sitting on his windowsill)

yu over time starts getting real sweet with yosuke, and he kind of gets the feeling he should just... keep this to himself...? especially when he doesnt see him acting this way with anyone else, and a small part of him wants to keep it to himself. all of this, just for him.

but that would be kind of gay, wouldnt it? hes not gay, is he...? he gets pretty happy whenever yu smiles at him, whenever he does something for him, but its just because he appreciates him as his partner... right?

eventually it all comes to a head when yu invites him to that... that spot high up in inaba. (ykno the one, its got the railing and shit.)

yosuke's climbing the hill, wondering whats yu gonna tell him, and at the top he sees him already waiting there as the sun's about to set on a nice breezy day

he kinda jokes a bit about it, like "damn did you ask me to come here now for the atmosphere?" but yu's strangely quiet

so they kinda just stand in a bit of an awkward silence before yu clears his throat... and confesses to yosuke.

...

they just. stare at each other for a bit. yosuke's at a loss, heat slowly rising in his cheeks, because what the hell?

and then yu explodes into a flustered mess, bumbling about "hey yeah man you dont have to accept if you dont wanna, i was just saying things yknow? you dont really have to-"

yosuke cuts him off, sighing a little. he tells him its okay, hes kinda had a feeling he felt the same way but he wasnt ready yet... and now his partner's confessing to his face, he cant really put it off anymore, can he?

("by the way, did you plan this? like, the timing and everything?"

"i... had a hard enough time saying 'i like you' with a straight face as it was, i kind of had to..."

"... ah.")

[unexploded anon] first of all about the protags: yes. yeag. ur right. that aside you cant really... make any interesting decisions in fo4? which also leads to that fixed character feel. sure you can decide which faction to join but thats it. you dont get several ways of solving things like the nv moon quest for example. as soon as they went teehee no more karma and a voiced protag it was so over.

that aside my biggest grievance with bethany esdas version of fo(esp 4)is that they simply cannot write anything that isnt "the world was destroyed and it sucks now also the brotherhood of steel is here". theyre sooo scared to move on from it— or perhaps they are just afraid to say anything? a big point of fo1 and 2 and nv is bad thing happened how do we move on from that. they rebuild! they have huge cities! theyve started printing money again by fo2! things arent great sure but they are developing!

the plot in the new show revolves around who threw the first bomb so we can all point our fingers at the real bad guy actually which feels like such a big misunderstanding to me and again shows that they simply cannot move on from the hoho! big war happen! plot. they even went and nuked the big settlements so theyre back to that status quo and its just so LAME. wheres the hopeful spark of humanity in this. wheres anything that isnt just hehe bomb go boom heres the brotherhood of steal (while simultanously yassifying the ghouls so they look less scary as if they arent a direct result of the horrors of war youre so fixated on gg)

definitely interesting to hear perspective from a first 2 fallouts enjoyer...this is a true war never changes moment. at this point i do think the brotherhood of steel and their big old promo material power armor is probably a brand recognition association with their brand. they do also seem to lean into marketable in-universe branding like the vault boy and nuka-cola but without the irony which is a critique i've seen a lot of that i'm inclined to agree with and also unfortunately kind of funny if i'm honest.

fo4 does seem like it could be fun if it's the sort of action game you're in the market for and i think if i was in the right mood it could be something i could've gotten further in. the universe contorted me into playing new vegas and only new vegas. i was so smoothtalked by todd howard's fallout 4 e3 presentation that i resolved to get it when it came out, and to bide the time before, got fallout 3 and found i could not get it to run on my laptop. i refunded 3 and begrudgingly got new vegas as a compensation, which ran like a dream, but i didnt get past the first time in my first attempt - i found the wasteland crunchy and unnerving with its evil beasts and thought "maybe fallout 4 will be more comforting - it's more colorful". then fallout 4 came out and i could not run it. so then i turned back to new vegas. and now i LOVE the crunchy wasteland and the evil beasts.

okay so . umm i dont rlly have a name for this i kinda jist call it candlefort . but Basivally roguefort either gets cursed by a powerful wizard they pissed off (probably from stealing from them) or timekeeper i havent decided yet but . they turn into a CANDLE !! they have a magic blue flame in their hat that is slowly eating away at them and theres no way they can stop it. they only have a limited time to live before the flame burns through their Brain and they die

they are Very distressed by this and . Something important to note is they have not experienced polt yet in this au they have Zero idea how their family died. but since they only have a limited time to live they really want to find out what happened (this may or may not be lightly inspired by ghost trick COUGHHHH)

they end up begging walnut to help them solve the mystery and it is So very surreal to her because theyre breaking character shes NEVER seen them this panicked before . they start doxxing themself like that one walter white meme /silly but Yeag sincw they know theyre gonna die anyways they tell her their real identity and a bit of their background and shes like . Holy shit? i mean Sure ill help im curious now too ... (shes 11 at this time btw)

uhm . Still developing the au so im not sure how it happens but they end up in the past (unknown to them but theyre in a different universe) and theyre in the blue cheese manor as it was still unharmed !! anf then they . Watch out of the window as a different roguefort set the whole house on fire and rogue realizes that they were the one who did it this whole time ,, they and walnut try to escape the house and walnut makes it out of the flaming mansion but roguefort gets A little stuck and then The Horrors 🎉walnut watches as their face melts and they drip down the side of the house. Ok so im not going to post a voice note cos i sound literally insane i dont know if i sound any saner now that ive typed it all out but like. HOPEFULLY THIS MAKES SENSE you asked for me to convince you so heres a whole ass mini essay sorry do u still think im hot.  this got so long kill me now. ENJOY <33

To preface this: in almost all the songs that i think are about transgenderism, the struggle with gender and identity is often portrayed as a struggle in a relationship with a lover (usually a female lover), which is pretty apparent in drowning lessons + the demolovers in three cheers for sweet revenge, and in this song. At least in my opinion. 

so honey this mirror isnt big enough, on a surface level is about a toxic/failing relationship. but like i said i feel like this “other side” of gerard, or of i guess the narrator/singer, the feminine side, the “girl within” is often depicted as  a lover or a companion of some sort. the title of this song is what gives it away for me because if u ignore the title then obviously the song is just about a relationship, but because its called honey this mirror isnt big enough for the two of us it feels like gerard is just singing to themself. Its not about any relationship, its about gerards relationship with HIMSELF, or with this other side of him, this other half (the woman in the demolition lovers, the victim in drowning lessons).

Me and ryan did a LOT of trans readings of mcr songs yesterday and the day before, and to like put it down to its essentials: a lot of the songs on bullets + revenge have this idea that theres this “girl” that gerard/the narrator wants to be or is somehow on the inside, and hes scared of her or he sees her as something he must kill or repress. at least at the beginning. which is why in drowning lessons i think the “she” that he kills is himself, and i think this is then repeated in honey this mirror isnt big enough, but instead of it being a murder, hes just trying to break up with her.

ryan put it quite well in this discord message they sent me: “he's pushing the girl out of his mind (out of the mirror)” “like im breaking up with you. we're over. i dont care how much you cry, i dont care how much i mean to you, this time i mean it. we're not doing this again (and then she comes back because she always, always, always comes back)” 

honey this mirror really reflects a problem that i think a lot of trans people struggle with at first, which is: if i embrace this side of me, if i come out, it could ruin my relationships with other people. I’ll become a different person, what if they wont love me anymore. so like when gerard says to this “girl” ‘you cant touch my brother / you cant keep my friends’ thats the idea of “shit if im transgender ill lose the people closest to me”, which is depressing but really realistic in that i know ive thought like that a lot in the past. I think he gets past this and thats shown in danger days and hesitant alien (gerards solo album) but i wont go into that now lol.

 and then right after that they sing “we’re not working out / this time i mean it / never mind the times ive seen it’, ‘it’ being the times they HAVE worked out. But in this song its like gerard is lying to themself, theyre ignoring the times this “relationship” has made them happy cos theyre letting fear and self hatred drown out the positive emotions this “girl” this “lover” has created in them. 

Then the pinnacle to this interpretation is the lyrics ‘well i find it hard to stay / with the words you say / oh baby let me in’. Thats the girl, thats gerards reflection saying ‘let me in’ like: embrace me love me you need me dont let me go dont do this to me dont do this to yourself, which gerard ignores because hes determined to end it. but because the outro is a repeat of ‘oh baby let me in’ i think this is what ryan meant with “she always always always comes back”, just like in drowning lessons “all the times ive killed you”: ive killed you so many times but you come back every time, ive broken up with you so many times but in the end i always let you back in. like this is a constant internal struggle that if you only listen to bullets and revenge seems to have a bad ending, but it actually has a happy ending because eventually gerard/the narrator embraces this woman, this other half, and doesnt regret it. 

The end thank you for coming to my ted talk i hope i got my point across. It might be a bit of a stretch but i definitely stand by this interpretation godbles

hm. horse names. does link do much with horses + what did he name any horses he has + any personalities? also what is zelda's horse named

hm!! id say he travels a bit with horses, its how he got to kakariko hateno and such. as time goes on he uses them less because they cant climb mountains well and he doesnt want to leave them in case monsters get to them/they wander off (despawn). also as time goes on he has fast travel so he doesnt have to use horses anymore which is kind of sad. he never uses the big horse even when he catches them

for names i like to think hes bad at naming things (shaking his hand) so you end up with names like twig or signpost. for his actual horses though id say he has all 5 slots; his first and main horse is Bug, shes probably gentle temperament because thats the type of horses that dont buck you off if you dont press L fast enough. he got zeldas ancestral horse and the big horse, zeldas horse having Saff as a placeholder name (safula reference), once zelda is freed though she names them Saffron + theyre now her horse. she keeps them. for the big horse, on one hand din is a fitting name, however thats kind of like naming your cat after a god that you believe in (like jesus.) it sort of works for greek gods and such but i dont think link would actually do that so. yeag. speaking of which while looking up where eponas name comes from possibly epona is actually the name of a celtic patron goddess for foals and horses so. snorts. ANYWAYS i think a kid would name the horse instead of link, and as such their name is Dinners. both in reference to din but also “how hungry” horse. for the other two horses, one would be once he finds out wild temperament horses have better stats (though how he finds this out is questionable, considering i dont think the horse facts guy mentions it + how i found out was from a croton video </3. pre calamity he probably found out by testing and researching/reading, so post cal is either a remnant from that or the horse facts guy Does tell him and we can ignore its not actually said in the base game 👍), and one is from just. not having a horse somewhere and temporarily taming it, however they follow him when hes not riding them and they go so far he just kind of. registers them. wild horse is named Clover and the following horse is named Jerry

personality wise Saffron is a bit what youd expect (stubborn and EXTREMELY UNHAPPY to be ridden as a horse.) he warms up eventually but sometimes he still just veers off the road/turns around at max bond just to be petty/prank them. that one horse post about horses adjusting to the people riding them and making their Own decisions when driving (biting off saddles i think? something about weight…), saff would do something like that. otherwise though number 1 rated grass eater and plant stomper, would be a pain for the stable owners and will pick fights with dogs. while he accepts being a transportation animal eventually he Will Not move cargo. that is his one rule, you will Not put on a wagon attached to his saddle he will make so many horse noises about it. Dinners is less stubborn and more blood thirsty. she Will run over herons without input from link. running over bokoblins is her favorite past time. however she also is a huge horse fan in general, especially with the little horses she can be found with. she doesnt really pick fights but she does bite sometimes. not out of malice but curiosity. or sometimes just because she can. get bit nerd. she actually likes having cargo it becomes a challenge to go as fast as possible without dropping it (which leads to stress inducing situations sometimes). otherwise she just chills mostly. would probably sleep in a weird position. she would run over donkeys if she could. Bug is just friendly. a chronic wander, but friendly! because she wanders if link isnt really telling them to go anywhere they just move on their own like minecraft horses. and because of this link cant leave them anywhere because theyll be on a completely different part of the map then where he left them. huge fan of flowers for food and also apples. to be fair all horses are but she gets the most apples out of all of links horses (favoritism). would probably eat a bee hive/wasp nest (fun fact!! beehives in botw are actually really similar to wasp nests rather than actual beehives!!). theyre indifferent to cargo. Clover is Fast. a bit less spurs but they are So Fast. constantly picking things up no matter what they are/the cons of quences. they are The cargo horse. like the name implies they like to eat clovers, and they also have like. grass in their mouth constantly like a cowperson. they would absolutely herd animals. big fan of ruins honestly they just smell weird. every time theres a split in the road they always go the opposite direction of what link needs and he has to steer them the other way around. would crash into trees quite a bit. also energetic constantly they Need to be doing something always. also yes this horse is a reference to clover undertale yellow. and finally Jerry. just a horse, no thoughts head empty. completely chill. stands there as link gets mauled by a moblin

pre calamity zeldas horse was named Selig (and named for her rather than by her considering the compendium entry states that the royal family rode them to display their “divine right”, so its less likely itd be named for fun and more named to be Official and OoOo Goddess Powers, so i like to think a priest named them), but in secret she named them Lilium Woodriff Orientalis (the scientific name for stargazer lillies, Woodriff being the last name of the person who bred them. this is a reference to silent princesses and Blue Heart Lillies- blue heart lillies often being cited as a real world counterpart to silent princesses, however those lillies actually dont exist. theyre always a scam and are actually photoshop recolored stargazer lilly. in universe explanation is that its just a scientific flower name she liked a lot and she wanted to seem cool for knowing it. post calamity she’d call them stargazer even though the horse is long gone. maybe she’d name another horse that in memory?) and uses their full name always instead of a nickname. and because of this she eventually forgets selig as a name and everyone either thinks its a new horse or is cool with it. the priest is kind of exasperated but cant do anything about it. links pre calamity horse is named Epona because im a sucker for that sort of stuff, however is not The Epona (like from the amiibo or oot or tp etc). its more of a name he liked a lot especially because of the epona legends (and also in the memories his horse has a different mane/coat color from epona herself so. yeag). he too wanted to be seen as cool. he’d use her like how merchants use donkeys . light storage system

also fun fact!! the stable has a corporation of sorts!! 50 years before the calamity the Epona Co. was established (creating a champion page with stable info), and it has a logo and everything. said logo is on the hats of stable workers and also on the blankets covering crates. the stable association is under that corporation but seemingly a different thing, and also on the sanidin park ruins you can actually see the logo on the base of the statue, so they had a part in that as well!! i dunno i just think its so neat and im so sad we dont know anything about the park ruins besides being a spot to view the castle. i like to think its a memorial to a horse (whether it be someones pet horse, or a horse who did something historical (like laika or balto, though laika and balto are dogs not horses), and also im not making this an epona statue i. it feels weird to clarify that however with all the epona talk . yeah. also off topic but epona and ganons horse being plushes in majoras mask is so cool and i really want ganondorfs horse to have a name now. like why dont they have one…). alsoalso you probably know this but the top of stables (horse heads) have malanyas face, implying its an effigy of sorts. alsoalsoalso theres an unused compendium photo for epona.

man im so tired i feel sick hahah time to sleep methinks. tmrw puss in boots movie w friends and also mario kart :3 and oh my god tmrw i should stop rewatching riptide in order and start going 2 the more recent episodes again so i can have rewtched the last likeee idk 5 atleast before episode 103 this saturday. okay sooo the past 4 episodes r in total 8 hours n 48 minutes n 55 seconds n thats basically 9 hours anddd since ive got til 5pm on saturday 2 watch stuff and probably a bit in the morning tmrw but mostly all afternoon tmrw. well lets say i get like 2 hours total in the morning and then likeeee idk how long ill have in the afternoon. probably til likee midnight bc thats a good time 2 sleep and ill get home at like. idfk. ill probably have atleast like 4 hours but ill make it 3 n a half just bc. so thats in totallll 5.5 hours tmrw. and on saturday if i wake up at like 8 then spend like half the day til 5 listening to riptide. actually half feels like a lot. ill round down probably. by like an episode. but from 8 il 5 issss. 9 hours. so abt 4.5 hours. so thats in totallll 10 hours. so i can probably watch from episodeeee 99 onwards 98 IFFF im feelin risky but i wanna make sure i can watch 103 when it comes out. soooo. yeah. this is a note 2 myself 2 watch from episode 99. and also try 2 remember everything thats like happenin n such bc ive gotten so used 2 now being around the block arc since ive rewatched up to there. this is a very interesting order 2 rewatch things. its probably fine tho. yeag. ok. tired/. gona sleep now okiiiibye

Actually i remember seeing someone make a post that was like "if twitter gets deleted, then we will lose tons of internet history!!"

I don't think its really that big of a deal if it does get deleted, especially since we have the wayback machine still, and also im just like thinking,,, we've lost history before, and we will continue to lose history. Everything you do that you don't record is lost history, and honestly its kinda cool. We won't ever be able to truly record everything that happens, and so were left guessing as to what really happened in the past, and guessing is super fun.

And thats not to say you shouldn't record things, or make backups of things, you absolutely should!! I love finding backups of old media i thought was lost, and someones gotta make those backups. I guess my point is more of like, shit happens, but keep doing cool shit and saving stuff because its cool and fun and yeag :)

blazing sky . like. ive written it probably 3 times as a whole but i havent started writing the current version yet. does that make sense???????? like iive written it 3 different times in the past couple years but there have been a lot of chaanges made to the story and i havavent started rewriting it afteer i madeee thos changes. also sry for the wack typing my keyboard is doing shit rn SHDJBGNJGE

describing things. lke describing scenery and stuff like thatt. and also just starting things in general, most things i write either start with "(insert name here) woke up to the sound of (insert sound here)" or "with a (insert thing here), (insert name here) looked around the (insert thing here) and (insert thing here)." or they just start with dialogue

20. how do you usually come up with story ideas?

genuinely i do not know SBHJNJKGBHJBJHE they kinda just come to me. sometimes ill be watching a show or a movie and ill hear a line of dialogue adnd ill be like "OOH i could write a whole fucking STORY about that dialogue alone" or ill be reading something n ill just be inspired by thos ideas. most of my ideas r just things that randomly come to me tho so like JKBJHBJKHE

I made this post while sleep deprived and having a spa night so bare with me.

Taako will only take baths when he has 2 bathbombs or 4 bath fizzers.

He always has to have at the very least 2 candles burning when bathing

Wine? Yes please red please.

Fuck reading in the bath hes on fantasy tinder or some shit just for the hell of it

(He never actually dms anyone he just looks at the cute guys and laughs bc none are as fucking gorgeous as his bf)

When hes in the bath he tends to overthink things sometimes, so he doesnt wear makeup bc hes cried a bit in the past

He also once made the mistake of dunking his head without waterproof eyeliner. Never again

Smelly incense and candles and wax melters. Your nose will burn if you go into the room within 2 hours after him.

He invites krav to chill in the tub w him once. He passed out that time and only woke up bc the water was freezing cold

Moisturizers!! He loves them!! His skin is always so soft and it just kills anyone he touches

After getting memories of the lost century back that boy just becomes glued to anyones side. He will lay and fall asleep on anyone

They all are just stunned bc his hair and skin are super soft and it feels like theyre holding a slightly bony plushie
