I am long past my dsmp days yet for maybe 2 years of my life I have been stuck in a perpetual obsession with @tuesday-teyz Butterfly Reign. I never really understood the phrase “altered my brain chemistry” until I read this story. It’s the kind of story that always sits in the back of my mind, that those moments when life slows it’s all I think of, that when I’m waiting for chapters and get impatient I’ll make up my own plot. (which I will happily wait even a year for- I love this story far too much)

the plots I make will never be enough to match @tuesday-teyz writing though ofc.

Anyway I never thought I could be so enamoured by a fan fiction but Butterfly Reign truly has altered my brain chemistry.

I have no idea what happened in recent chapters and am quite frankly waiting for the series to end so that I can survive the cliffhangers.

But I am begging you, let br!Phil apparently dethroning br!Tommy be something that he decided because he realized just how fucked it was to put all that pressure of a crown onto a kid so young, and how Br!tommy wasn't allowed a normal childhood because of it. Let this be because, out of some well meaning but poorly thought out intentions, he wants to save br!tommy from the pressure.

Don't let this be because he now looks down on the son THAT HE HIMSELF LET CRUMBLE INTO A SHELL OF WHO HE WAS

I want to explain to you the incredible amount of angst I think up for an au of butterfly reign when I listen to “Lullaby for a  princess”

I just imagine Wilbur and Techno realizing they weren’t there for Theseus as much as they should have been, and that played a large part in his mental downspiral.

I imagine Phil walking along a burning corridor, watching his own palace burn to the ground. He sees his past self panic when he sees Ranboo unconscious and with burns. He would feel his heart break as he watches himself run past the room Theseus was trapped in, trying to call out for him only for him to completely brush past it.

He would follow his past and see as he realizes that Theseus, his youngest son, isn’t there. Watches as he realizes that his precious child is still trapped in his room. The room that he just ran past.

He would only cry as he sang the lullaby meant for a prince as past him runs to the room, and find out it was too late. The room was burning, the sky was black, and Theseus wasn’t breathing. There wasn’t a pulse, there wasn’t a heartbeat. Nothing. His son was dead.

He cries along with his past, desperately trying to properly sing the melody designed for his boy. He cries but he would sing nonetheless.

And the song ends with the whole family standing by the grave Theseus was buried in (maybe it was next to his moter, maybe not) And Phil is still singing, hoping to give back the childhood that Theseus never got to keep, even if it’s just a small part of it.

I read the letter.

I read the letter Br!Phil sent br!Wilbur. I read that and only that and I don't care what anyone says, that man deserves to be jailed and locked away for good.

That man did jackshit. Br!Theseus raised himself and was forced to grow up far to quickly to cope with the loss of his brother and mother, dealing the absence of his other brother and the unstable mind and health of his father.

He dealt with all that, and more, I know damn what what br!Phil did to the people that br!theseus took comfort in. Br!phil might not have done it intentionally, but he still did it and it still harmed his youngest.

BR!THESEUS GAVE UP EVERYTHING FOR THEM, HE GAVE UP HIS ENTIRE BEING

AND THIS CUNT HAS THE GALL TO TRY AND COMPARE HIM TO BR!RANBOO, WHEN HE HAS SPENT JACKSHIT TIME WITH HIS YOUNGEST? HE HAS THE GALL TO TRY AND TURN BR!WILBUR AGAINST HIS YOUNGEST???

This fucking bitch wants to try and make br!Fundy the crown prince as quick as he can, and implies that if Br!Theseus argues with this decision, they'll exile him.

I'm sorry, this man is far beyond redemption. He may have been a good father at some point, but the moment he even considered his own son a villain of the degree that needed to be exiled instead of a son who he has failed to raise and be there for, is the moment he lost any fucking respect from me.

God, I want him dead. I want him to crash and burn.

Teyz, please, I knew it was gonna get worse but please let it get better quicker. I can't do this, this poor boy needs so much therapy and his father isn't doing anything to help.

Can we at least have br!Wilbur remain on his side? Maybe even Br!Techno? They have to realise how much br!Theseus will lose himself because of this, right?

I think an important point to note about br!Theseus and his character is that it's easier to hate a stranger than to hate your family.

Like yes, you think everything your family has done is unfair. Does Theseus hate them? No

He still love them, he loved them so much that he took on the crown and cut away everything that made him essentially him for them.

He's angry at them but it's easier to hate a stranger and hurt them than it is to hurt someone you've given up everything for.
