Dorian telling Orym that he's so strong and so capable and so human.
Telling him he doesn't *need* him, but that he's here because he *wants* to be.
Orym finally, after all this time, letting his tears fall.
Dorian reaching for him, taking his hand, leading *him* for once.

oh... oh the truly delicious foil between melora sending rain when orym took the blade, something that causes plants to grow, and then laudna trying to get rid of the vines by using wither and bloom against the vines (and accidentally him).
melora approving orym taking the blade and putting everyone's and the world's burdens on his shoulders, and delilah encouraging laudna to take the blade to relieve the hurt she was feeling and to protect orym (and the others).
orym, who already had a blade gifted to him but also took the one who killed his family. laudna, who already had magic but uses the magic given to her by the one who killed her family (and her).
both of them seeing their worth in what they can do for others, how much they can sacrifice for the people they love, and willing to take whatever dark measures necessary to do it, and melora and delilah enabling them.
both of them being taken advantage of for being vulnerable and hurting and taking the opportunity to give them a "purpose" or a way to achieve their personal goals, but only giving them what they need to achieve that purpose when they are desperate as a way to keep their... continued support (used very loosely).
and oh... the absolutely delectable parallel between the rain stopping when dorian told orym that he didn't need to save everyone and delilah's voice and visage disappearing when imogen held laudna and told her that she loved her.
everything about them... the plant parallels, the life/death foils, their sun and moon motifs, the shared experience of death and abuse, the shared belief that their self-worth was tied to their worth to others, both feeling saved and grounded by the one they love.
orym and laudna are profoundly alike, yet fundamentally doomed by the narrative to end up where they are right now. the potential of them being the closest of friends with an unbreakable bond and the inevitability of their differences breaking them and causing a rift between the people they care about is what truly hurts the most.

CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 3 EP 95 SPOILERS
jesus christ these nerds are going to kill me.
before i get into my think piece abt... everything that transpired at the end of this episode, i would like to say this is one of the best c3 episodes.... one of my favourite episodes of all time. idk idk.
essek? smut? astrid? poly bells hells allegations?? i was already fucking sold dawg. i cannot goddamn believe that this four hour episode was... mostly... a shopping episode. i cant wait for the new art, regardless of the batshitery that happened that kinda throws my vibes off. i digress.
oh ashton greymoore i love you so much. i have been so worried abt them but honestly they're probably the lat person im concerned for currently. the grief was so compelling to watch and taliesin is a master of roleplaying as minus charisma but genuinely charismatic in his dorky awkward gruff and fumbling way. his rizz is actually just blindsiding us with earnest acts of service and comfort for his friends and i think thats so neat. im happy that they're all going to aeor with fcg intertwined throughout their outfits. its poetic and also maddeningly sweet.
(love the little callowmoore moments sprinkled through this episode... they're so real to me)
pumat was fun and i am so damn glad they got all the items matt offered cause they were all so fucking cool.
also??? sugar daddy dorian storm??? yeah i see you gay boy. dorym is so real guys we need to prepare for a confession and soon. idk i get the vibe liam is gonna drop it in the most heartbreaking way. or robbie. they're both sick in the head tbh.
loved the little queer inn that essek dragged them to and the calm before the storm was genuinely the cutest shit ever and im glad they were having fun despite everything. we got the essek and ashton dunamancy scene that i have been begging for but i cant even talk abt that right now.
before i address orym and laudna...
delilah briarwood. im gonna fucking kill you. best believe that.
theres been so much discourse on twitter abt who was right or wrong or this or that, but ultimately the point is: neither of them is RIGHT. they're both stricken with trauma and grief, and motivated by the love they have for a) the ones orym has lost and b) the one laudna is fighting not to lose. laudna WAS worried abt orym before delilah twisted that into paranoia, and orym didnt wield that fuckass blade bc he DOESNT feel sick touching it.
he says its not abt revenge but... god. orym. you want revenge. call it whatever you like but you've been angry for a while.
laudna says she KNEW the sword was cursed, but she was lying or in denial abt the fact that delilah is the one who coerced her to hold the blade in her hand.
if either of them had decided to talk to each other or the group as a whole then this could have -- most likely -- been avoided. orym decided to take the blade and shoulder the burden of what it meant and what it represented so they didnt have. laudna felt betrayed and hurt but instead of trusting orym she was manipulated back into that cunt's clutches.
i dont prescribe to trauma olympics, especially when laudna and orym never actually denied each others' trauma with otohan and that blade so i think its slightly irrelevant when discussing them both.
(i will say this... otohans blade is what killed laudna but delilah is the one who had her in a cage when she was dead. otohan murdered oryms family and there was absolutely nothing that could save them. i firmly believe THAT is what chetney meant, not that laudna hasnt suffered so we can all just... unclench a little idk)
in all the discourse, lets not forget who the real villains are -- evil milfs (delilah and otohan). delilah chose this moment to sew distrust in laudna towards orym for a reason. its like the spider queen and opal. she NEEDS laudna isolated and dependent, and she cant sink her teeth in completely if laudna has someone to fall back on.
imodna... jesus imodna breaks me every time. that entire scene on the roof while laudna looks so much like her abuser -- the woman who MURDERED her -- and having that visage fade as laudna proclaims her love for imogen. peak romance and tragedy.
it was still so upsetting hearing the echoes of delilah as laudna spoke tho. knowing her hold on laudna is getting stronger and laudna has no real faith that she will be able to fight against her. hearing her ask imogen if shes still fun scary and knowing that imogen cant tell the truth. this isnt fun anymore. laudna is in danger and imogen doesnt know how to fix it.
"I'll always love you, Laudna. I just don't know what to do with it."
its uh its not looking good for our sapphics fellas.
anyway, i do think that ashton was the emotional mvp of this episode, especially while shit was escalating. putting themself between orym and laudna, PROTECTING laudna despite knowing she attacked him, TRUSTING that she was actually telling the truth and guiding her to see the forest for the trees and apologize for an irrational choice made through a mixture of trauma, delusion and paranoia.
im... excited? for the next episode? not sure why we keep having really horrible inter-party conflict the day before going on a suicide mission but the hells are my problem babies and i have to accept that they're just little fucked up guys.
god. is it thursday yet??

i think that part of what makes this episode so heartbreaking to me is that essek JUST mentioned how vital it is that they all have each other to lean on during their most vulnerable moments. all the attempts at boosting morale and memorializing letters... they were, together, supporting each other through an incredibly difficult loss!
the trust in this group will be very fragile after this encounter, and it's painful to think about the feelings of distrust that could perpetuate from what happened. like, i can't imagine not feeling safe enough to fall asleep around my own party members, and am wondering how this violation of trust will ultimately be resolved.
on the other hand, it makes for some delicious angst! i hope orym gets loooots of sleep-pile cuddles & i hope laudna is held very gently during the rests to come.

C3 E95 SPOILERS AHEAD
An interesting point that I haven't seen anyone make (yet) (I could have missed it) is that Delilah wants Laudna to blame the trauma of her dieing on the sword.
Everyone was hurt by that sword, and that means two things.
1) Orym should have asked before starting to carry it for himself.
2) Laudna should have asked instead of trying to steal it for herself.
Now, for Orym the reasons are kind of obvious as to why he felt like he could take it. It has taken two more people from him than from the others, and I think part of him saw it as carrying the burden of the sword for the entire party. He still should have asked, but he wasn't being unreasonable.
(I don't think Laudna was either from her perspective, but hear me out for a sec.)
Now, why would Laudna feel like she had the right to take the sword for herself without consulting anyone? How does she feel more entitled to it than the others?
I think she connected the added pain from what happened to her after dieing to that sword. And I think that's a combination of a coping mechanism and Delilah playing into that.
Because from Laudna's perspective it's a lot easier to blame the sword for that pain than to have to deal with the fact that it was the person that's still living in your head. It's a lot easier to blame the sword than to accept that your abuser can still hurt you and you have no control over that.
And from Delilah's perspective isn't it a golden opportunity to both shift the blame for that trauma off herself and drive a wedge between Laudna and the party at the same time?
The sword did not hurt Laudna worse than it did Fearne or Orym, but Delilah did. Delilah forced her to live through that nightmare, Delilah refused to let her rest in peace, Delilah is the real problem, not the sword.
This goes for the entire night, btw. Laudna should have asked, but Delilah would never let that happen. That would have meant stronger communication and bonds with her friends, and that would make Laudna less vulnerable to Delilah's manipulation. So she poked and prodded until Laudna couldn't think clearly anymore.
I just think that framing it as if the sword has hurt Laudna worse because she wasn't resurrected immediately is exactly what Delilah would want.
Just like framing this as a Laudna vs Orym thing, instead of Delilah causing problems, is exactly what Delilah would want.
Fuck Delilah.

C3 E95 SPOILERS
I really hope though above all that Fearne and orym have a real conversation about his pact with nana Mori as usually those two are pretty open with each other but you could see the shock in fearne’s reaction at the table.

Dorian watching Orym look at a piece of his home, his history, his heritage. Moving around, crouching down to whisper in Orym's ear, giving him everything he's gotten since they met to gift it to him.
I'm emotional.

gotta say that chetney had some MAJOR fucking balls to look laudna in the face and have the audacity to say "no one knows loss like orym". to laudna of all people.
i do not like to compare trauma; everyone's trauma and pain are valid and their coping mechanisms, no matter how unhealthy, are centered around that trauma.
but. i'd argue that no one knows loss like laudna.
laudna lost her family. was tortured, strung up, used to send a message to some strangers who happened to piss off the tyrannical leaders of their town, chosen to do so because she had a vaguely similar appearance to one of them.
she died alone, in pain, humiliated, and afraid. and then she was resurrected by the very person who orchestrated her suffering. the person who killed and tortured her is now permanently inside her head.
almost everyone she knows and loves is dead. she woke up to a completely foreign whitestone. to a thriving whitestone. to a whitestone that not only did not know who she was but was terrified of her, because of her appearance, that which got her killed in the first place.
they shunned her, tormented her, and ran her out of the city. the city that she lived in her whole life and died in horrifically. and the leaders of whitestone did nothing. the leaders who happened to be why she suffered in the first place. they may not have known about her, but they let their townspeople do that.
and now, the woman who ruined and horrifically ended her life continues to do so in death, once again risen to be used by her, and laudna is forced to rely on her. and that reliance continually threatens to isolate her from the people she cares about. again.
so chetney can fuck right off with his bullshit. they've all suffered, and it is none of their rights to claim that one person's suffering is more important than another's, definitely no one's right to claim that their trauma gives them the right to special treatment, absolutely no one has the right to shame laudna for her coping mechanisms, and most certainly chetney does not have the right to claim that she hasn't suffered enough in comparison to orym to be justified.
i love chetney with all my heart but holy fuck that was NOT his finest moment. i'd argue that it's his lowest and ugliest.

Well... It was chill shopping episode until it wasn't.
I was a little bit disappointed that Laudna didn't push a little bit further and didn't remember that actually Orym and partially Ashton were those who push her to first use of Hunger of the Shadow. Obviously, it was her choice in the first place, but they didn't stop her either and even encouraged her. Which is making Orym a little bit hypocritical to my taste, since he, maybe this time subconsciously, pushing her buttons again.
Marisha, Liam and Matt did a great job with all this tension.
Last Imodna scene broke my heart and then mended it once again... I hope Imogen will not close herself again and this time truly will be there for Laudna.

Imodna angst and Laudna Delilahfication so good that it genuinely made me think about stopping watching c3 until it’s finished so I could feed myself on spoilers to avoid potential emotional damage.
I can’t bring myself to watch e95 yet because I’m too sad about Laudna. Bbygrl deserves so much better.
