CHAPTER SUMMARY: Bellatrix informs Cassandra what the actual scope of her potential powers are, and why no one should ever, ever find out that she has them.

PART VIII

The last time Cassandra was in this room, she had tried to turn the whole thing into a stupid game with her ridiculous glasses and her silly little yes, professor responses as she practically begged Bellatrix to bend her over and spank her with a bloody ruler. She hadn’t taken her studies particularly seriously because, truth be told, Cassandra had been more interested in spending time with Bellatrix than anything else. It also probably did not help that she didn't have much faith in ever emotionally healing enough to wield whatever power she was supposed to have before it had been ripped away, and while Cassandra certainly wasn't healed by any means, it had apparently just been enough for her to acknowledge the trauma she was subjected to as a wife, as a child, as that meant she was no longer hiding a part of herself behind a brick wall and dissociating. Unfortunately, not dealing with her shit only seemed to litter Cassandra's soul with cracks that were causing her to leak psychic energy that she had yet to learn how to control. It had started as this slight trickle as Cassandra was able to pick up strong emotions here and there, but was otherwise unbothered by it. However, after six weeks of separation while she drowned her 'I'm fairly certain my two lovers murdered my husband' angst in tears and gin, which, frankly, she barely even fucking liked, it seemed those cracks began to run deeper until finally she began justifying his death, and everything split open. He loved me. He hurt me. It was my fault. He made the choice to be forceful with me. But it wasn't half as bad as what those boys did— That's not an excuse. Pain is pain. Rape is rape. Semantics don't fucking matter. He deserved it. They all deserve it. I hope Bellatrix kills them all. Accepting what Peter had done to her caused Cassandra to acknowledge what had happened in her past as she had tried, and failed, to weigh them against one another, as though the weight of one's sins would absolve the other. But it didn't. Peter may have loved her once, but he had become an ugly man once he feared Cassandra would slip through his fingers. She did not mourn him, not really— Cassandra had mourned the past, and an image of the future that would never come to pass. She mourned for her son, who only seemed to regret the relationship he would never have with his father. But most of all, during her six weeks alone, Cassandra had mourned her sanity, because she had loved that the Black sisters had come to her rescue.

✨ IVASHKOVADRIAN’s BYE TO 2020 FOLLOW FOREVER ✨

2020 of the Gregorian calendar is coming to an end and uhm... what a year, to say in the least. Although it’s proven to shower us, including me, with challenges, if there is one thing I am most grateful in this (cursed) year for is tumblr! Hence this follow forever, only my second one after my first in...2014. Not only did tumblr show to be an escape full of laughs, but it has been such a safe and supportive space for me throughout this year, either during the highs or the lows of life. I have gotten to really engage and create for this platform while being absolutely amazed at the talent! And I am so lucky to have talked to and meet absolutely lovely and amazing people! I have gotten to become mutuals with people who have blown me away on numerous occasions. Really, tumblr helped me to push through in general and to try new techniques for edits! 2020 was tough but not all of it was bad: I finished the first draft of my novel! I (re)discovered hobbies! I strengthened bonds with my closest friends despite international distance! And I got my (current) Adrian Ivashkov canon url :’) Those are all bonuses to getting through 2020. What are Bellatrix, Cassandra and Narcissa’s birth dates in your head cannon ? (I’m a Scorpio who relates a bit to Narcissa sometimes lmao)

Straight up cannot remember the actual dates off hand BUT we had this whole discussion on the discord about their signs and their compatibility so:

Bellatrix is in October and is a Scorpio Narcissa is in December and is a Sagittarius Cassandra is in February and is an Aquarius

which relationship did you like writing the most; narssandra or cassatrix, and why? what did you like about both of the relationships individuality?

Personally enemies to lovers has always appealed to me more than friends to lovers so I’d have to say Cassatrix if we’re comparing. I like them both for different reasons though, and I was absolutely obsessed with how cute Narssandra were at the beginning of CR tbh. I love how they took it slow, and it developed naturally. It was something they fell into for a positive reason, whereas Cassatrix started out due to a lot of negativity and their shared misery over Narcissa. As an angst writer obviously I will resonate more with my misery twins but there was something really beautiful about Narssandra too, so.

BELLATRIX/CASSANDRA - PART VII NC-17 •  Cassandra’s POV • Set After Chapters 42+ of “Crimson Regret”

Cassandra had never been in the Malfoys’ library before. She had passed by it hundreds of times, but as Narcissa had never lingered there, neither had she. In truth, it seemed more like a decorative feature rather than a room that was used for its intended purpose; something to look at, yet never disturb. Despite it being rather abandoned however, there wasn’t a speck of dust to be found; truthfully, it felt a bit like a museum, and Cassandra stood rather awkwardly in the middle of the room as she waited for Bellatrix to join her, realizing that she didn’t even really feel comfortable sitting in such a sterile place. It felt… wrong, somehow.

Bellatrix, however, clearly was not of the same mindset.

She came into the library like a fucking tornado, her arms filled with books as even more floated in the air behind her as she magically led them to settle on one of the desks. The ones in her arms hit the surface with a loud slam as she dropped them though, scattering the papers and spilling the inkwell that had previously resided there, truly not giving a damn about whatever show Narcissa was trying to put on with this room. It was strange, honestly, how she had it set up— like it was meant to look used, yet clearly was not as the ‘clutter’ was a little bit too perfect. Thankfully, that meant whatever Bellatrix had just ruined was probably not important, which set her free from the lecture Cassandra would have felt obligated to give her if it had been.

Instead, the younger woman’s brow rose at the abundance of reading material Bellatrix brought, hoping beyond fucking hope that— “Ya don’t really expect me to read all of that, do you?” Cassandra asked, as while she enjoyed reading, educational reading was like a completely different breed. She could do it, yes, but there was certainly a limit as to how much she was able to consume before she felt like her soul was getting sucked out of her body.

Bellatrix turned to look at her, a retort on her lips before she finally saw Cassandra and her lips curled into an amused smirk as she leaned against the desk, her arms crossed over her chest. The younger woman’s brow furrowed, trying to ignore the light flush to her cheeks that Bellatrix’s look had prompted. “What?” she asked, as her girlfriend seemed amused by her all of a sudden and, quite frankly, that was pretty much the opposite reaction to what she was going for.
