What if it WAS warm and comfortable and soft and cosy

What if it also smelled nice, released attaching pheromones like those pitcher plants do, or the goo tasted sweet to lure creatures in

What if it wasn't a smell so much as an absence of the dank musty cave air, and it was a welcome breath of something cosy and comforting that just made you want to curl up and sleep

And then the sculk is soft underfoot, and it feels like it might be wet and slimy but it's actually kind of velvety, in that slightly coarse alive way that a living animal is soft and warm

And you're so tired from mining and exploring and damn wouldn't it be nice to just have a lie down and rest for a bit

And it's so soft and comforting, a bit weird but getting more agreeable by the second

Wouldn't it be nice to just.... Rest your eyes, and your legs.... And everything..... And just sleep.....

OH THE THING ABOUT THE SMELL IS SO GOOD

i really love the idea of it just smelling distinctly like Nothing, or just fresh air, you know that smell when you’re outside on a clear night in the summer and it’s almost-warm but not quite, that’s a smell you’d probably really miss after a long enough time underground

also the sculk does this hypnotic little animation where the little bright parts flicker in waves that could be part of the calming effect as well

but like YEAH the more i think about the more i'm into the idea that dormant sculk would be comforting. sculk not only eats the essence of formerly-living things, it grows in the shape of the places it spreads to. if you think of a more typical concept of an overgrown post-apocalyptic city you probably imagine lots of disruption, trees and vines widening cracks in streets and buildings crumbling, but sculk doesn't do that. your home could be completely eaten and it would still be standing there, you could still walk inside. and chances are that's on purpose

Oh, he IMMEDIATELY clocks Mumbo because he's not nearly as subtle as he thinks he is and tends to get a bit too in his head after he comes home. Sometimes he'll stumble in at 3am and Grian is fulling sitting in the kitchen and Mumbo doesn't even notice. It's like he's fully cartoon floating through the apartment covered in kissy marks. Sickening, frankly! Grian just wants to enjoy his cereal.

I am...deeply amused by the concept that Grian is both Cuteguy AND a sort of journalist. I suppose there is truly no better way to control your public image than to become the foremost influencer about Hotguy and Cuteguy yourself. It's genius. There's no possible way this could blow up in his face.

I think he would print a bunch of teeny tiny details about Scar that would just absolutely drive him mad. Like nothing private or sensitive or something that only Grian would know, but just a little something. Like, "Hotguy talks, walks, and looks like a man who has seen Topgun more times than he's got bitches." <- this is a bad example actually but i think its funny and I'm not deleting it. Probably more something like what Scar's favorite candy bar is or something. Scar usually assumes that he must have said it at some point, but he totally hadn't.

Hotguy and Cuteguy's relationship is like, VERY silly. They work well together and undeniably compliment each other in the field but the moment they don't have a shared goal they get at each other a little bit. Not in a sincere, aggressive kind of way. You know the vibe. Just a lot of ribbing and shoving each other around.

Scar has joked multiple times that Cuteguy and That One Reporter would REALLY get along without ANY clue of how close he is to the reality. Mumbo would be the first one to get to the bottom of that mystery. It'd be promptly followed by a chewing out session for Grian because like, what the fuck, man?

Bringing up something not directly related to ep8 - I'm very annoyed by the 'content warning' at the beginning of every episode, it just. It feels bare-minimum and like they don't actually care if literal children see the show.

And I'm not trying to say kids can't watch mature stuff, it's just. It's an animated show on YouTube with bright colours and funky non-human designs. What's the bet a tired parent has given their kid a tablet/phone and let them surf and suddenly found their five year old watching HB with all its swearing and really very degrading language (ESPECIALLY towards women which someone else pointed out recently)

It's just. It really feels like vivzie sees 'mature content' as not that big a deal because SHE isn't upset by it so anyone who thinks sex jokes in front of kids are inappropriate is just a prude! But like. It IS a mature show. It deals with some really quite nasty things aside from the swearing and sex jokes, and on top of talking about them flippantly, it doesn't really go into detail in warning about them. Like. People, kids or not, deserve to know what's happening and be warned for it, it's why we have content guidelines in the first place. Even shit like south park or archer or any other mature animated show COMES WITH A RATING ON IT, from M to R depending on what's in it (and what country you're in apparently).

Idk maybe I'm being overly cautious and I am probably coming off as someone conservative, I just do think the team should take the content warning a little more seriously?? Because there's no sensitivity team watching the episodes before they're released so there's no one outside the studio who might actually go 'hey stop this needs a real warning' before it's released.

Like the show can get as rough as it wants, go nuts, I don't care, I just think maybe it should come with a content warning a bit more serious than 'ya this is for mature audiences lol'.

Or at least have Something warning about flashing lights cos fuck the show has so much going on and I know people in real life who struggle to watch it because it's so visually busy.

I mean...a more precise warning for what's up ahead never hurt anyone, but at the same time I don't think it's Vivzie's or anyone else's job to babysit other peoples' kids. I also don't know that she could keep them out if she cared to; my little cousin, when I asked who the hell's been showing him Helluva Boss, walked me through the exact process he uses to bypass Youtube Kids behind his mom's back.

I think the abysmal way Vivzie presents female characters, transmasc characters, and consent are more dangerous to sneaky kids than the fact that there's sex and swears.

He strained his ears, his breath coming shallow and quick. It was quiet outside, except for the soft rustling of the leaves in the gentle evening breeze. No other noises came, and he breathed in deep, letting it out slow, trying to calm his heart rate down.

“Just an animal,” Steve whispered to himself. He was trembling from head to toe. “Just a squirrel or a raccoon. It’s fine.” 

He managed to relax his shoulders, the hysteria blurring the fringes of his vision receding slightly. Fuck but he was on edge. He knew a good night’s sleep would help, but how was he supposed to sleep when every little thing sent him into a panic attack?

Swallowing a frantic laugh, he turned back to his bed to grab another cigarette. He’d smoke the whole fucking pack tonight, probably. As he grabbed his lighter, he made the mistake of lifting his gaze to the window, and his heart stopped in his chest.

There was something looking back at him. Watching him. He could see it there, in the tree right outside his window. 

ooga booga (im sorry but saying this right before i post some smut is so funny) also eddie has a tongue piercing

“stay still,” eddie orders, letting it come out a bit mean because he knows what it does to steve. sure enough, a glance up shows steve shutting his eyes as they roll back. for good measure, he adds with a dry chuckle, “you’re so fucking easy, steve. it’s been like one minute."

“fuck,” it’s punched out of him, “please, please, i’ll stay still, i promise."

with steve’s whiny please ringing in his ears, eddie dives back in, taking as much as he can at once without choking again. a rough tug on his hair makes him groan, earning a frantic gasp from steve as the sound vibrates through his mouth. steve's hips twitch forward but he stills them quickly, clenching his jaw tight. 

it’s fucking crazy, eddie thinks vaguely, breathing deeply through his nose as he works to bury his face in steve’s happy trail. the fact that he can just tell steve what to do and steve listens like he’s made for it. it’s insane. 

steve can hardly keep his eyes open, shuddering with each bob of eddie’s head, thighs trembling on either side of his shoulders. eddie grips his hips harder, pressing him hard into the couch, letting his spit drip from the corners of his mouth as he hollows his cheeks again, suckling hard around the tip, flicking at the slit with the tip of his tongue, letting his piercing drag over it roughly. it must hurt a little, but he knows steve gets off on it, loves tempting the thin line between pleasure and pain. 

“fuck, fuck fuck, eddie, yes,” steve babbles, free hand coming up to grab his own hair, one leg kicking out in his effort to stay still. eddie shoots a watery look up to watch him, unable to quell the moan that shudders up his throat at the sight. steve’s throat bobs as he swallows a whine, the sharp angle of his jaw softened as his mouth falls open on another moan.

ronance angst is an underdeveloped area i believe, nancy to me is such a twisted character with so much going on so why not exploit that and make something painful and make her squirm a bit??? i liked the way you twisted her around and made everything h u r t it was very good ^^

also kissing as a form of violence is an under-utilised tool IMO, I LOVED that robin kissed her angrily to let her know she WAS too late, that was fuckin delicious I loved it to bits!!!

i am very much cheering you on for a part two whenever you write it but I DID really love this first angsty bit and loved the way it dug into their characters with claws and made it all HURT, I love a good bit of pain before the comfort >:)

hello out of pure curiosity from reading various things in your blog I am beginning to watch helluva boss (I preferred it's pilot over hazbin when they came out years ago) and wow it's hollow as shit lol

Like I'm only on episode 2 but even the first episode just had. Nothing but bad taste in jokes and offensive things to say and didn't go anywhere

Cos I mean plot wise. Moxxie is having a clashing of morals about killing people vs letting a happy family exist (where this came from I have No idea but ok whatever) and he has a moment of 'yeah ok I'll enact justice and do it my way so I don't feel bad about just blatantly ruining a family' and then sees the police blow up the remainder of the house and just. Nothing comes from it. Its just haha edgy terrible shit for the sake of it. This is not good writing

I'm aware I'm not saying anything new about this and smarter people than me have critiqued this better than I can but seriously someone must be so fucking dense to see this and think that's a story where anything happens, I dread to think what Viv's highschool essays were like if she can't write for shit like this

This, all of this. And you could make the argument that it was just the first episode, the show was still trying to find its feet, but we're well into season 2 now and the whole thing's still a cold wet mess.

Vivzie thought it was a good idea to do a 180 and make Stolas and Blitzo childhood friends when that apparently wasn't the original plan, and there's no saving a story from a showrunner who thinks that's how this works.

i only have the one but she's called Katie, and her hero persona is Cherry Mantis. she's a japanese-american girl who's disabled with both legs missing after a subway accident, and her parents are engineers so they built her new ones that can jump super high, cling to things or grow in length (making her 6 feet or taller if she wants). She's friends with peter parker and they have fun running around NY together doing patrols, and they're both big science nerds because she volunteers at thelocal science musuem where he likes to study and that how they become friends ^^ her suit is green with pink blossom patterns and a green mantis-like hood, and she's so much fun to draw, i love her a lot ^^

WHATTT that sounds like SUCH a cool design!! what a fun character concept!! pink and green is an Excellent color palette as well 👌
