Alright, I held off on posting these because I wasn't sure if I was allowed to, but with the Fancy/Celestial Swirl ponies making a return I figured I will.

At Pony Fair in Florida, Allison Boiselle, one of the original artists, showed off a version of the celestial swirl backcard that included names and their story, which I feel like not many people know!

Here it is!

... okay, so it's not the best photo but in my defence I was sitting pretty far away

To help translate, their names are: Pearlshine (the purple one with turquoise hair), Mistyglow (the light blue one with pink hair) and Starswirl (the pink one with pink hair (man Hasbro likes that name (also fun fact she's the prototype who was seen at the fair)))

I uh. Can't read what the blue one's name is and I don't remember it. If anyone remembers or has a better picture, please do let me know ^^;

Their backcard story went roughly like this: The four ponies wanted to explore the sky so they took a staircase made of starlight to get there. They saw a baby star nursery, and then they came across a jar with a sparkly river flowing from it that gave light to the sun, moon and stars. A comet passed by and bumped into the jar, causing it to spill over the ponies, which is how they got their swirls!

Edit: @/heckyeahponyscans and @/lawlpony pointed out that the fourth name is Swirlabout! Which makes way more sense that what I thought it said, which was Sortabout lol

I am V excited for the celestial ponies but for some reason I expected them to be the big sister models? Maybe it’s just because of that initial art. The chosen poses are pretty unexpected for the theme. Still buying em tho.

I will be using their original names. Not sure why those were changed.

I tend to have mixed feelings about MLP being mixed with horror tbh. There's a lot out there that's just edgy for the sake of it and I find it kinda tacky and boring. There's definitely creative takes on it though, like the post I just reblogged.

There's plenty of room to explore unsettling topics with the ponies without resorting to just slapping blood and guts onto a kid's show in an attempt to shock. This is a world that has always had magic, always had a little fanciful mystery to it. If you reach into the darker corners of that you can pull out something really cool.

If you have any artists or fics in mind that take an interesting spin on MLP and horror, feel free to float them my way!

questions for

the My Little Pony fandom

Is anyone else really tired of the My little pony retros that hasbro keeps re-releasing my problem isn’t with the retros themselves the thought of bringing back G1’s or ponies from any gen is awesome and I love it.

The problem is they keep giving us the same six ponies I want them to bring back some of the really cool ones like the sea ponies, or the rainbow curl ponies or some of the so soft’s or some baby ponies especially the tiny babies. They’re so cute but they just keep giving us the same six ponies and that’s coming from somebody who loves minty.

I actually bought the 40th anniversary minty but that’s only because I didn’t have the money to buy her when 35th anniversary happened and getting a hold of her now is unnecessarily expensive when I can pay 10 bucks for her at Meijer.

I’m just saying I like the direction we had back in 2018 when we were releasing other ponies than just the original six

Although I did hear that they’re going to release the celestial/color swirl ponies Prototypes that they did back in the 80s that were never used. Has an actual line now That is really cool that’s what we’re here for right 

I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions so if you see this, if you have the time , please reply and tell me what you think 

PS I recently learned how to change the font sizes on my Tumblr and because of my dyslexia you’re probably only going to get this size or bigger now. also I’m using my phone in dark mode right now and all The letters that are supposed to be white, are showing up as Black well I’m trying to type so I’m having to change it to different a color

Additional Context: It was recently discovered that Nova in the Celestial Pony Line has variants! They began producing them with white swirls but changed to pink partway through production

I am assuming that most people currently have the white variant, as the pink one was only really found recently, but I’m very curious as to how many of wach kind has been found so I thought i’d make this poll for fun ^^ I currently have the white swirl one but I want both

I got another celestial pony! Polaris! she was on sale online & I had to buy something else, so I threw her in as a treat for me.....I like her :) she is definitely very pastel! I'd say I definitely prefer her over milky way (not TAF, who I also have. I like her, but I feel the shades of pink chosen should've had a higher contrast, they looked too similar and make the pony feel like she's only one color). Her swirls are certainly pretty subtle, but I think that's the entire vibe for this pony, given that pastels are usually a subtle palette. I think if I were choosing her colors, I would've added another pop of yellow or two like on her cutie mark.

warnings: smoking, cursing if you squint.

in which: you and ponyboy share a candid moment on the roof of his home.

a/n: my first bit of writing here! enjoy :)

the roof of the curtis home is sacred, in a way.

you and ponyboy have been sitting up there for months, gazing at the sunset every night as you both listen to the commotion downstairs. laughter, yelling, the home is bustling with energy of all kinds.

the roof, however, is quiet. peaceful. serene.

as of late, your conversations on the roof had become more introspective. questions and thoughtful answers plagued both you and your boyfriend's minds.

ponyboy turns over to look at you, a light mixture of reds and oranges illuminating his face.

"do you ever think there's more? more to see, more to do?" he asks, wide eyed and awaiting an answer.

"of course, pony. i'm sure there's more to life than what goes on here. a lot of people don't realize that."  you reply, running a hand through his hair.  its a comfort tactic, for when you think he may start thinking a little too much.

ponyboy thinks on your words for a moment. "i just... don't want to be stuck here forever, you know?" his words strike a chord, and the wind seems to know it too as it howls with the kindness of the ocean.

you take a drag of your cigarette, handing it to your boyfriend. he definitely needs it, you think, as you blow smoke rings from your own lips.

"and you won't. you may not see it now, but everyone want to see you become something. you just have to know what that something is." your words are carefully placed, moments like these need to be treated with utmost caution.

in silent response, ponyboy shuffles to rest his head in your lap. not that you're complaining.

"maybe i'll be a sunset. wait for no one and become a swirl of colors every night." he says dreamily, looking up at you with that wistful look ponyboy gives when his imagination runs wild.

"you can be whatever you want, honey. if you're a sunset, i'll come to watch you every night until the sky takes me too." you say, smiling down on pony as he hands you back the cigarette. the smoke feels like the warmth of the tulsa sun, nostalgia and all.

"damn. who knew my girl was such a poet?" he asks rhetorically, settling into your touch as you toy with his hair. for once, it's grease-free, which means your hands can roam free.

"i learned from the best, what can i say?"

you steal a quick kiss, and ponyboy happily returns.

"and if you were a sunrise, i'd watch you every morning." pony says, lined with adoration as the sun sets into darkness rivaled only by deep space. the house below you two has gone quiet for the most part, and you and pony are two celestial bodies.

Saw some of the 40th anniversary My little pony toys at Prisma today 😮 . If i had more money at the moment i would of bought one of them, but for now i had to pass. I'm planning on buying one of these in the future though.

I hope we get some of the other anniversary stuff too at some point. Especially the Celestial/Fancy swirl ponies.

The price (25,90) is in euros in case anyone is wondering what currency this is.

someone get me a contract with the owners of the g1 my little pony rights so i can make g1 style ponies in new poses for collectors.

ples, hasbro, basic fun, the celestial ponies are pretty but make new poses... i do hope the celestial ponies sell well to convince them to make more sets.

I think these are really pretty, although I've heard the hair is rather low quality, the swirls rub off and the headpieces are hard plastic that might break easily.

also why is the head in the stock photo MISALIGNED? gosh that bothers me so much.

anyways these repros are fun but i wish they would make like.. more clydesdale/"boy" ponies, both dynamic (rearing) and sitting/lying posees. someone on the forums mentioned they should do paired poses which I totally agree with, I think they could sell pairs that balance by putting their hooves together and it would be really cute!

also they need to bring back the sosoft ponies AND the twinkle eyed ponies.
