Johnny and Miguel made their way through the skatepark. They had just gotten back from the school as they were trying to find girls for the karate tournament. They needed this actually Johnny needed this.
If they couldn’t find girl(s) to join their dojo or else they would be in deep shit and not be in the tournament at all. Miguel didn’t want that, he wanted to compete as he was the all valley champion the year before. He also wanted it to get rid of Cobra Kai since they were getting bigger with Silver coming in.
Since Johnny and Daniel made that deal with Silver and Kreese that if Cobra Kai won they would have to shut down both of their dojos. Miguel didn’t want that for Johnny or for his training. He still had a lot of things to learn even though he was the champ.
At least that is what Johnny told him.
“Sensei I just don’t get why we are in a skatepark,” Miguel questioned as they walked around people who were skating and giving them weird looks.
Probably because they weren’t skating and just walking around. Probably thought they were weirdos.
“Skating is badass and people who do that are already used to pain so if I could find a girl that’s here and is willing to hear me out we could find our girl champ,” Johnny explained as he looked around to find any girls.
“What does skating have to do with karate? They’re not the same thing,” Miguel asks, putting his hands into the pocket of his jacket.
“They aren’t but these people they do tricks and like I said before they know what pain is, so that means karate won’t be anything different,” Johnny says.
“There’s not any fighting in skating Sensei,” Miguel says.
“There was back in my day, these people can be crazy sometimes and that is exactly what I need for the girl champ,” Johnny scoffs.
“Hey guys watch out,” Y/N shouts as she comes in skating behind him but before they could do anything she ran into Miguel knocking the both of them down. “Great,” She mutters as she was on top of the boy.
She steadied her hands as she got up and held her hand out for Miguel. He blushed when he realized who it was. She was in his math class and once had a crush on her when he wasn’t with Sam or Tory. He grabbed and got up as well.
“Sorry about that but you guys should know at a skate park you should be skating,” Y/N explains as she points to her feet where she was wearing roller blades.
Before Miguel could say anything Johnny butt in.
“Hey shouldn't you be wearing a helmet, elbow pads, all that kind of stuff,” Johnny asks as he holds the flyers for his dojo.
“I don’t need them. I've been doing this for years and if I get hurt I just get back into the game,” Y/N explains as she looks at the middle aged man. “Wait, who are you?,” She questions before looking at Miguel. “I know him, I don't know you.”
“Have you ever thought about trying out for karate not only would it make you more badass, you can actually learn how to defend yourself,” Johnny tries to sell with a smile on his face.
“I don’t know, I really don’t feel like getting my ass kicked by a bunch of dudes from my high school,” Y/N explained as she kept herself steady on the pavement.
“We need more badass chicks in this world and I am willing to teach you how to be that,” Johnny explains but still sees a tentative look on her face. “Okay it can also get you into shape like Miguel here come on Miguel take your shirt off and show her all the progress you made,” He says using his last attempt.
“What,” Y/N says in shock.
“I am not doing that, Sensei,” Miguel says at the same time as her.
“I mean it wouldn’t be a bad sight to look at,” Y/N teases looking at Miguel as he feels himself get more shy. “But don’t worry I don’t need you doing that,” She says and gives him a little smile.
“Are you willing to try your hand at karate then,” Johnny interrupts as he feels himself start to get more and more annoyed.
“And this I won’t have to do some weird fight to do this because right now I can’t do that,” Y/N questions.
“Of course not, he teaches you how to fight and defend yourself,” Miguel reassures her, giving her arm a squeeze as she gives him a tiny smile, her heart beating faster and faster.
“Who knows you might be this year's all valley champion and that’s something you’d like right,” Johnny asks.
“It does sound good and I would like to learn how to defend myself, there are some weirdos in this world,” Y/N says before looking at Johnny. “Sure, I’ll come by tomorrow but just take it easy on me,” She says.
“No promises,” Johnny grins as he gives her the flier. “Tomorrow at 4,” He says. She nods as she skates a way.
“See you in school tomorrow,” Miguel awkwardly shouts, making her turn around and give him a smile and two thumbs up.
“You could try hiding the fact that you like her,” Johnny mutters as he felt more confident on how they could win.
“Was I that obvious,” Miguel asks as he feels embarrassed.
“You want the truth or the lie.”
“Truth.”
“Anyone in a 10 mile radius could see that you liked her.”

“we are so stupid. why did we pick a horror movie out of all movies.”
“WE???!?!?! y/n, amor that was all YOU”
you two had been watching horror movies for the last 4 hours, this was his way of making it up to you after he came back from mexico. its not that you were mad at him or anything, just worried. and he felt guilty for leaving you behind, so this is how he makes up for it.
“miguel. i want water but im too lazy to get it.. and even if i WERE to get it, im too scared to go to the kitchen by myself….. can u come with me to get water 😞”
“yeah, babe. of course i can” he smiles, following you into the kitchen. when you two had made it there, you accidentally dropped something on the table, causing another thing to drop onto the floor… scaring you
“FUCK NO PLZ DONT KILL ME NUN PLZ” you yelled, terrified for ur life until u heard miguel giggle behind you and start to tease you, sneaking his arms around your waist from behind. “dont worry amor, i’ll protect you from the nun” and you decided to tease right back
“with your ninja skills?”
his jaw DROPPED. you did NOT. just say that. his karate moves were NOT ninja skills, he wasnt actually offended, but he let his fake offended face show up. causing you to giggle
after you two had got back into the living room, you cuddling right back up to your lover, he smiles and wraps an arm around your shoulder. all was great until… a jumpscare popped up……….. you JUMPED.
“awe migUEL FUCKING HELL HOLY SHIT”
miguel loved the way you hid your face in his chest when jumpscares came up, he loved the way you’d pout after it happened, complaining about the directors adding them in. he loved how you’d cling to him to the rest of the movie with him continuously telling you he’d protect you from all the monsters, giving u a wee bit of reassurance….
“amor dont worry, your very strong and handsome boyfriend will protect you from those monsters”
“miguel u kinda look like that one”
“bye.”
after the movie ended, you were scared shitless. you couldnt evej go to the DAMN BATHROOM without asking miguel to stand infront of the door and talk to u while you were pissing so you can assure he didnt leave you by urself. then after you got out, you’d look to him and ask
“one more?”
he groaned
“no more horror movies, y/n”
and your reply?
“youre a pussy, miguel”

• Daniel would have a fake sort of confidence on his first time with you. He doesn’t want you to know that he’s feeling shy or awkward, but he’s also doing this because he doesn’t want you to feel the same way or think that he’s not enjoying it as much as he really is.
• He can definitely be loud, especially if he doesn’t need to worry about who could hear him and he feels open enough with you to do so. However, he does need to force himself to be quiet if this isn’t the case; and, he may even need something to cover his mouth in order to do so.
• Daniel is absolutely one of the most gentle people you could ever meet to be in one of these situations. Especially as he’s so close and intimate with you he only wants you to have a good time, and he isn’t really one to be rough or demanding with the person he loves so much.
• As you both still live with your parents at this time, he does find it funny and daring to be doing something so intimate in these places. Although, he wouldn’t want to do it any place different. The place that you feel most at home and comfortable is the perfect place for him.
• Despite this, if others are home he would have a slight fear of being caught, mainly because of the things you’re doing. He wants to keep a good impression of himself on your family and being caught in the act is not the way to keep that going.

WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?
Learning karate was a lot different then you expected it to be.
Mr. Larusso—Sensei Larusso—was nice and super patient with you for someone who barely knew what they were doing. He also seemed entirely too giddy at the thought of you being a new student and could barely contain his excitement the first day you walked into his dojo.
Robby and Sam had been off on their own training, which you guess made sense given that they were a lot more skilled and proficient in the art then you were. It still felt odd.
Because instead of actual training, you were doing chores. Well, they’d seemed like chores at first but it became clear pretty early on that it was a trick for the muscle memory aspect — the defence would pay off upon doing the movements repetitively.
Waxing the cars, sanding the deck, painting the house.
At first you’d been afraid it was some elaborate trick of Sam’s just to get you to do the chores she didn’t want you to do, or that Mr. Larusso needed help with—but you knew Sam and quickly deduced that that was as far fetched as it could get.
Besides, while it hurt your back and your arms were incredibly sore, doing the chores got your mind off of things. Provided a distraction. One you’d desperately needed, and in the scheme of things didn’t mind all that much.
Enough so that when you finished sanding the deck on your first day, a good two hours later, you’d all but skipped over to Mr. Larusso with a smile on your face. “Mr. Larusso,” you call out to him, eyes flickering briefly to Sam and Robby whose stood next to him. “I finished the deck.”
“Perfect timing, Y/N,” he grins, causing you to blink in response.
“What’s happening?” You ask, tilting your head in confusion.
Sam and Mr. Larusso eye each other briefly, before the latter turns to you; “we’re going on a trip.”
Turns out the trip meant heading to the beach house that Mr. Larusso and his family often frequented, the four of you piling into Mr. Larusso’s car—the ‘banana boat’ Sam dubbed it, which you were told was a gift from Mr. Miyagi, Mr. Larusso’s Sensei. Sam was sat up front with her father, while you and Robby were in the back.
You haven’t really gotten the chance to talk to Robby beyond your small, rather awkward chat at the Valley Festival. You weren’t really sure how to approach him given that he didn’t really seem to, well, like you all that much.
“I still don’t understand how going to the beach is gonna help us get students.”
“It’s not the students that I’m after,” Mr. Larusso answers Robby, briefly glancing over at the both of you. “It’s the parents.”
“So,” Sam speaks up, her brows furrowing in disbelief. “You’re counting on kids listening to their parents?”
You nod, “yeah. No offence, Mr. Larusso, but kids almost make it their goal not to listen to their parents.”
“No, no, I’m counting on parents doing whatever it takes to protect their kids.” He rebuttals, shaking his head. “Look, I’ve tried everything else to promote Miyagi-Do. If this doesn’t work… nothing will.”
Well, you can’t help but think, hopefully then it will.
-
Mr. Larusso told you to make yourself comfortable…
What did that even mean?
You’ve never been to a beach house, let alone such a fancy one and the bathing suit Sam had let you borrow was far beyond your level of comfort. You can’t remember the last time you’ve gone swimming or worn a swimsuit, especially in front of others.
Especially in front of a boy.
Even, really, a girl too.
Your outings with Eli and Demetri had consisted of the comic book shop, the arcade or a movie at one of your houses. This was different—far too different and you felt extremely out of your element.
You’d yet to meet up with Sam and Robby yet, it felt a lot more awkward when you were with the both of them. Sam and Robby were obviously friends, close ones at that, and yeah, you and Sam got along but it’s like every time you were within the vicinity of Robby, he looked like he’d rather be anywhere else.
At the very least, away from you.
How were you supposed to approach that? You’d been friends with only Eli and Demetri for as long as you had because you didn’t know how to talk to people.
But you also couldn’t hide forever.
Unfortunately.
So, steeling your nerves, you pull the sleeves of your shirt further down your arms, making your way over to where you saw Sam and Robby settle down. Only, as you make your way over, you only see Robby.
“Hey,” you call softly, ignoring the slight shake of your voice. Robby turns to you at the sound of your voice, faltering slightly when he realizes it’s you.
You ignore the look, taking a seat on the bench next to him. “Where’s Sam?”
“She went to talk with Aisha.”
Your lips form an ‘o’, nodding to yourself as you shuffle back on the bench, trying to get comfortable. You can’t help but briefly glance to your left, at Robby, and hope that he’ll say something else. Anything else.
He seems determined to ignore you.
“Why do you hate me?”
The words slip past your lips before you even realize you’re saying them, shocking you just as much as they shock Robby.
Robby jerks at your sudden question, head snapping back round to glance at you in confusion. “What?”
“I mean, you must,” you mumble, fumbling with the hem of your shirt. “You never talk to me and you look like you’d rather be anywhere else then here with me right now.”
Robby frowns, unable to deny, shrugging his shoulders, “I don’t hate you. I just don’t trust you.”
Brows furrowing, you shake your head; “why?”
“Because you’re friends with Miguel,” Robby huffs, “and he’s one of them.” He spits the last word with such disgust, an angry look crossing his features as he scoffs at you.
“Miguel’s my friend,” you nod, shrugging. “But that doesn’t mean I agree with what they’re doing.” Then, after a moment, you add; “besides, you’re not the only one whose suffered because of Cobra Kai.”
Robby’s brows furrow but his face softens at your words nonetheless, a mixture of surprise and confusion flooding his features as he stares back at you. He hadn’t been expecting an answer, especially such a calm one at that.
Really, with the way he’d been treating you, you’d have every right to get mad. Or, at the very least, a little upset.
Swallowing thickly, Robby shifts; “why did you decide to join Miyagi-Do.”
“I dunno,” you whisper. “At first I was determined to avoid all karate. Karate is what took away my best friend. But then, when I saw your guys’ performance at the festival, I knew then that Miyagi-Do was different. I couldn’t look away.”
Meeting Robby’s gaze, you smile softly. “Besides, I could use some friends too.”
He blinks at that, lips parting in bafflement.
He hadn’t expected that. Any of it. Least of all the sadness in your voice as you explained your reasoning.
Suddenly, Robby feels guilty for the way he’d treated you. He’d barely even given you a chance before he just decided that you weren’t in it for real and that you were just like the rest of them. That you didn’t really care about Miyagi-Do. When really, you’d been just as hurt by Cobra Kai and all of it like him and Sam.
Lips parting, Robby stammers for a response; “I-I…—”
You just shake your head, waving him off; “it’s okay, Robby. You don’t have to explain yourself. I just hope you’ll give me a chance.”
“Yeah,” he nods, perhaps slightly too quickly as you let out a light giggle at his eagerness. “Yeah, sure.”
Your smile beams all too quickly and it’s clear you’re desperate for him to like you; “great!”
-
“Hey, have any of you seen my wallet?”
Turning at the sound of Mrs. Larusso’s voice, you blink as you watch her search through her beach bag, a look of desperation and slight panic on her face. Robby and Sam are stood before you, glancing at each other briefly before back at Mrs. Larusso.
“Wait,” Robby frowns, “you’re missing your wallet?”
“It’s gotta be around here somewhere,” she shakes her head. “Can you just spread out? I’m sure it’ll turn up somewhere.”
You nod, moving to walk off in search until you notice the look on Robby’s face. He’s shuffling off quickly, something in his gaze as he makes his way past Mrs. Larusso. “I’ll check the beach,” he explains, setting his bag down. “Maybe someone turned it in to the lifeguard.”
Your brows furrow as you watch him, something felt strange about the way he rushed off. You turn to Sam to ask if she knew but she’s already got her sights set on something and your eyes flicker upwards only to find the back to Aisha and who you assume is the new friend Sam mentioned she was with.
For a moment, you pause, unsure who to follow or if you should just go looking on your own. But the truth was, Robby had seemed uncomfortable the entire time you’d been there—it was subtle, but you’d gotten good at noticing things other people didn’t.
It was the perks of being in background.
“I’m gonna go help Robby,” you explain to Mrs. Larusso who nods at you distractedly.
It’s easy enough to follow Robby but you’re a few steps behind him, by the time you reach him he’s perched behind the stairs leading down to the beach. Your brows furrow as you watch him for a moment, slowing down your pace.
“Robby, what are you—”
The next second a handful of wallets fall to the floor. Sure enough, Mrs. Larusso’s is there as well.
“I knew it,” Robby huffs.
“How did you—”
“Yo, but did you see the shorty in the green thong?”
You blink at the new voice, mildly disgusted by the boys words as you glance up. There’s two footsteps heading down the stairs directly above you, just as a second voice calls out; “oh, man, I ain’t thinking about that right now.”
In the next second, Robby’s turning on his phone, starting a recording through the camera before he grabs you by the wrist, yanking you back. You stumble over your feet blindly for a moment, before catching your footing, turning to him in confusion as he tucks you and himself under the stairs, obviously trying to hide himself.
“All right, let’s get the stuff. We gonna bolt.”
“Just like that.”
He places himself in front of you, hiding you slightly from sight as the two boys come to a stop in front of you. By the looks on their faces, they know Robby.
“This guy here, man,” the one with the ball cap scoffs, shaking his head.
Stepping out from beneath the stairs, Robby shrugs; “same shit, different summer.”
Just what the hell was happening right now?
“What are you doing here, Robby?”
“Found your stash,” Robby gestures behind him, just as you slowly step out yourself. “You’re gonna give it all back.”
The taller, skinnier one scoffs; “the hell we are.”
“You didn’t learn your lesson last time? That’s cool. We can give you a refresher course.”
Shaking your head, you step forward; “Robby, what the h*ll is going on? How do you know these guys?”
Turning to you, Robby frowns; “just step back, Y/N. These guys stole from Mrs. Larusso.”
“I figured that much out myself,” you deadpan, “why do you know them?”
“Because Robby used to do it with us, sweet cheeks,” the ball cap wearing one grins, stepping closer to you as he eyes you up and down. “Man, where’d you find yourself such a sweet piece of a**, Robby?”
Bewildered by what he said and disgusted by his treatment of you, you shake your head, scoffing.
Robby huffs, “just shut up and bring it—“
He steps forward in preparation but then a shadow falls behind the both of you and you notice the man stood behind Robby a second too late. He brings a paddle to the back of Robby’s head, knocking him off his feet and straight to the ground as you gasp in response, quickly jumping away from the guy.
The two others laugh, “what you forgot this was a three man job?”
Glaring at them, you spin to face them; “what is wrong with you?” Racing forward, you move to swing a hit, only to have it easily blocked. It’s the one wearing the ball cap that catches your fist and you freeze in realization—you’ve trained in Miyagi-Do for approximately one day.
And all you’d done was sand a deck.
Why exactly had you thought you’d be able to take these guys?
Spinning you around, he locks you in his grip, wrapping an arm around your neck to hold you firmly to his chest as you huff. You try to work your way out but all the guy does is squeeze tighter, making you groan out slightly in response.
A huff catches your attention however, and your eyes widen when you see Robby slowly crawling to his knees.
“Robby!”
“You know,” the boy holding you calls out, “for a smart kid, you sure do learn slow.”
The man who’d hit Robby makes his way over to him, picking him back up to his feet by his shoulders, all but yanking him to his feet before putting him in a headlock similar to you. Except the guy holding Robby is twice his size and by the reddening of Robby’s face, you figure he’s holding him a lot tighter.
“Maybe,” the skinny one laughs, “we need to leave him something to remember him us by.”
Your eyes widen when he pulls out a pocket knife.
“Wait, no,” you cry, fighting the boy who’s holding you grip. He just squeezes tighter, making your face feel hot as you gasp for breath.
“Just wait your turn—“
He doesn’t finish his words. In the next second the boy in front of you is knocked to the ground, knife falling out of his hands, by… “Mr. Larusso?”
“Let them go.” Mr. Larusso calls out, hands held out before him.
“Don’t listen to him,” the boy holding you orders, shuffling back as you get dragged with him. Then, he stops, and suddenly you’re being thrown to the ground, landing onto the sand with a loud huff, the wind knocked out of you.
“Alright grandpa, let’s do it.”
Bracing yourself, you turn your head over your shoulder, the frown on your lips turning to a smile as you watch Mr. Larusso kick their asses—not to mention with ease.
When the guy holding Robby is the only one left, he throws him to the ground similar to how you’d been, moving to attack Mr. Larusso. You rush to Robby’s side without hesitation, your hands falling to his shoulders as you gaze down at him in concern.
“You okay, Robby?”
Meeting your gaze, Robby nods before the both of you glance back over at Mr. Larusso.
You just manage to catch sight of him roundhouse kick the last guy.
“Your grandpa know how to move like that, huh?”
Helping Robby to his feet, you laugh; “that was incredible, Mr. Larusso!”
“Yeah, well,” glancing at the both of you, Mr. Larusso nods. “Let’s just get out of here.”
-
“Mr. Miyagi didn’t recruit me. He wasn’t looking for students.”
Sitting up from your spot next to Sam, you smile at Robby and Daniel as they make their way out.
“He took me in because I needed him,” Daniel continues to explain, “I came to him, not the other way around. It’s time we be patient. Let those who need us, find us. Right?”
Daniel smiles at the three of you, and when he’s eyes meet yours you offer him a smile and a thumbs up. To you, that sounded like a perfect plan.
“Excuse me?”
Straightening at the sound of a familiar voice, your eyes widen at who you see.
“Uh, it was unclear if the gate was the front door or if I was supposed to ring the door bell.”
“Demetri?” You call out, eyes wide with shock as you stand up. Everyone’s eyes fall on you, watching as you step forward, lips parting.
“Oh, hey, Y/N. I didn’t know you were here.” Smiling, Demetri’s eyes flicker past you, head tilting; “is that a koi pond? How much does it cost to maintain that—“
Shaking your head, you interrupt him; “what are you doing here?”
“Uh, yeah…” shuffling on his feet, Demetri’s hands fall to his sides. “I wanna learn karate.”
Eyes widening, your lips part. Demetri had always been so against karate, even more than you… then again, you haven’t really talked to him in a while.
Clearly things had changed.
Smiling brightly, Daniel nods; “you’ve come to the right place.”
-
Needless to say, Demetri was exactly how you expected him to be.
He’s been your friend for as long as you can remember, and although you haven’t talk to him in a while, you knew him well. His heart wasn’t in it, it showed in the way he reacted to Mr. Larusso’s teachings.
Given that the two of you just started learning, Mr. Larusso had decided to teach you both together. But it was clear what set the two of you apart when you completed each and every task with no complaints while Demetri seemed to try to get out of it in whatever way he possibly could.
The both of you had been training for a few days now while Robby and Sam continued on their own. The movements were becoming easier and were starting to feeling natural, a thought that easily brought a smile to your face. The hard work was finally starting to pay off.
It was the start of your training for the day, Robby and Sam had already gotten started given that most of their training happened on their own now. You were just doing some stretching and warming up when Demetri made his way in for training today.
“Uh, hey, are we doing shirts versus skins?”
Looking up at the sound of his voice, your brows furrow. You glance over at Robby and Sam, who Demetri was talking to, noticing that Robby had taken off his shirt under this heat.
“Cause I’d prefer to be a shirt. Not saying that you have to be a skin,” Demetri calls out to Sam directly, causing you to roll your eyes. “Unless you want to. I support your right to choose.”
Pushing yourself up to your feet, you make your way over to Mr. Larusso whose just walked in, shaking your head at Demetri’s words.
Mr. Larusso nods at you in greeting before turning back to Demetri; “Demetri! Over here.”
He listens without fault, making his way up the stairs, before coming to a stop before the both of you. “Hey, Mr. L, before we begin…” reaching in his pocket, you pause when he pulls out a slip of paper, handing it to Mr. Larusso.
Holding the paper out in confusion, Mr. Larusso shakes his head. “What’s…”
“It’s a note from my mom excusing me from any extensive arm and leg movements.”
Eyes falling shut, you press a hand to your forehead.
“So, uh, if there’s an alternative lesson I could do… Maybe a workbook.”
Mr. Larusso sighs at Demetri’s words, but instead of responding the way you expect him to, he turns to you. “Y/N, show me ‘sand the floor’.”
Pausing in thought for a moment, you nod, kicking your leg back just as he does, and in the next second he’s turning, kicking his leg out towards you. But instead of hitting you, you block it, your hand moving down towards your side. Your eyes widen as you do, surprised at the ease with which you did.
“Excellent job, Y/N.” He smiles at you, to which you return before he turns to Demetri. “Okay, Demetri your turn. Just like Y/N. Show me ‘sand the floor’.”
Mr. Larusso does the same movements as he did with you, only Demetri doesn’t block. He simply… let’s Mr. Larusso kick him.
“Ow! You kicked me!”
Huffing, Mr. Larusso shakes his head; “why didn’t you block, Demetri? You know this. This is the muscle memory!”
“In case you haven’t noticed, I don’t have muscles.”
“Demetri,” you huff, shaking your head.
He turns to you; “what?”
“Just… do you… do you want to be here, Demetri?” Mr. Larusso asks, letting his hands fall to his sides as he turns to your friend, a frown on his lips.
“Not really.”
“Then why are you here?”
Eyes flickering to Demetri, you frown at the look on his face.
“My whole life I’ve been, let’s just say, less than popular. But at least I had a few friends.” You meet his gaze as he turns to you. “And then Cobra Kai comes to town, and next thing I know, my friends are taking karate and becoming alpha jerks.”
Shoulders falling, you glance at your feet.
“I’m literally be threatened by one of my best friends.”
Frowning, you shuffle on your feet, fiddling with your hands. You… you hadn’t know Demetri felt that way.
“I just wanted to show I could fight back.”
Stepping forward, you set your hand on Demetri’s shoulder, pulling his gaze on you. “I’m sorry,” you whisper, “I didn’t know you felt that way.”
Demetri just shakes his head; “it’s the same for you.”
Sighing, Mr. Larusso steps forward. “Look… I understand what you’re going through. I do. But Miyagi-Do isn’t about showing off. It’s about—“
“Self defenSe. I-I know. Problem is, my ‘self’ is too weak.”
Demetri walks off at that and you turn to him, eyes watching his back. You guess you’d been just as lousy of a friend to Demetri as Eli—you can’t remember the last time you’d hung out with him, just you and him.
No one else.
And while Eli had decided on just blatantly ignoring you, it seems like he’d been terrorizing Demetri. How? You didn’t know. But you’ve never seen Demetri act like that, not for as long as you’ve known him and certainly not ever when talking about Eli.
They were best friends, friends longer then with you. They’d been through everything together.
And now, Eli had just tossed him aside.
Turning to Mr. Larusso and seeing the defeated look on his face, you swallow thickly. “Don’t worry, Mr. Larusso. I’ll go talk to him.”
“You will?”
Meeting his eyes, you nod; “I’m one of his best friends.”
-
“Hey.”
Your voice is soft as you call out to Demetri, taking a seat next to him on the step as you gently bump your shoulder against his own.
He briefly glances up at you; “hey.” He offers blandly, a single nod.
Feeling the slight tension, you bring your knees up to your chest, hugging them tightly for moral support as you let your head rest on your knees. “I’m sorry about Eli, Demetri.”
Shrugging his shoulders, he waves you off. “It isn’t your fault.”
“Well, I’m also sorry I haven’t been a great friend.”
Blinking, Demetri turns to you in surprise.
“I haven’t been there for you and for that I’m sorry,” you say honestly, eyes flickering past him to stare in front of yourself. “I just couldn’t bare to be around him anymore, after… well, you know. It was too hard for me. But I should’ve still reached out to you.”
Demetri pauses a moment before slightly bumping his shoulder against yours. “If it’s any consolation, I think he misses you as much as you miss him.”
Raising a brow, you scoff at Demetri; “yeah sure. I’m sure he missed me so much while he was busy making out with Moon.”
“I’m serious. Whenever he was talking about something or when he did something impressive to show off, he’d get this look in his eyes and he’d search for you. Of course, you were never there…” Demetri explains, “he’d never admit to it of course. But, I know what I saw.”
Feeling your cheeks warm and an uncertainty on how to reply, you just pull your knees closer to yourself. “Well, doesn’t mean he’s any less of an a**hole.”
Demetri snorts, “I definitely agree with you there.”
Smiling at your success at getting him to smile, you turn to look at Demetri. “I did miss hanging out with you too, you know. Not just Eli.”
Meeting your gaze, Demetri can’t fight the smile from his lips. “Yeah, I missed you too. You unfortunately are sometimes the only sane person I know.”
Letting out a laugh, you shake your head; “thanks?”
“You’re welcome.”
Licking your lips, you hesitate on your next words. You don’t know if you should bring up Mr. Larusso or just leave it—ultimately, that was a decision Demetri needed to make for himself. You can’t force him either way.
You wanted him to take Miyagi-Do lessons because he wanted to. Not because he felt he had to.
So, choosing not to mention the elephant in the room, you grin over at him; “Robby, Sam and I were planning on heading to the mall later. Did you wanna come?”
-
“I’m more partial to his performance in ‘Donnie Darko’.”
Rolling your eyes with a smile on your face at Demetri’s words, you take a seat across from him, the both of you having just finished grabbing your food. You’d purposely delayed Demetri for the sake that it looked like Sam and Robby wanted some time alone—it was pretty obvious the two of each other had a massive crush on one another.
And with Demetri here now, you didn’t have to play the awkward third wheel.
“Interesting movie,” Demetri adds, nodding before he falters. “Time travel logic left a lot to be desired.”
Sam and Robby chuckle to one another as you grin; “I personally agree with Robby and Sam, ‘Dirty Dancing’ is the best. I used to watch it all the time as a little girl.”
Demetri pauses, “really? I would’ve—wait, is today Wednesday?”
Reeling back from Demetri’s sudden change in conversation, you watch as Robby and Sam answer his question.
“Yeah.”
“Mm-hmm.”
Demetri is suddenly snapping his fingers in your direction, “the new issue of Dungeon Lord came out,” he explains, moving to stand as your eyes widen in realization. It’s been so long since you’ve been able to hang with Demetri or even think about stuff like that you’d completely forgotten.
It was, however, good to know some things never changed.
“Um, do you guys want anything from the comic book store?”
Robby laughs, “uh, no thanks.” As Sam shakes her head.
“I’ll come with,” you shrug, pushing yourself to a stand. “It’s been a bit since I’ve gone.”
Demetri grins, “okay, we’ll be right back. Make sure no one throws away my chicken.”
He’s racing across the food court before you have another second to think, and letting out a laugh you offer a wave back at Sam and Robby before you move to follow after Demetri. The trip to the comic book store is easy enough and the second you catch up to Demetri, you shake your head at the fact that he’s slightly breathless.
“I’m gonna go look around, okay?” You turn to him, laughing. “Let me know when you find Dungeon Lord.”
Demetri nods and with that, the two of you head your separate ways, a smile on your face. This certain comic book store is quite large and you find yourself reminiscing as you look at all the comic books, surprised at all the new volumes you’d missed.
You’d have to get Demetri to catch you up on all of them.
You’re so lost in your thoughts, you barely hear the sound of something being knocked over. It sounds like a stand, the sound of books clattering along with it startles you from your thoughts the second you hear it, glancing up from the comic book in your hands with furrowed brows as you glance to your right.
You can’t really see anything, tucked away in a aisle.
But it did sound like it came from the direction Demetri had headed in.
Thinking better then to ignore it, you put the comic book back, making your way over.
“You think I’m afraid of you?” Eyes widening in concern at Demetri’s voice, you move to quicken your pace until you hear his next words. “I know who you really are… Eli.”
Eli? Eli was here?
Slowly making your way forward, you pause at the sight of him. He hasn’t noticed you, and neither has the other two with him—nor Demetri. You’ve tucked yourself behind a shelf purposely, because the mere sight of him makes everything in your body freeze. Eli looks a lot different then you remember, a red mohawk instead of a blue, and there’s this look in his eyes.
He almost seems unrecognizable. You know it’s him but there’s no trace left of the Eli you once knew. It isn’t just his hair or the clothes he wears, it’s the way he’s looking down at Demetri.
You’ve never seen him so mad. Let alone at his own best friend.
“So, why don’t you, Rocksteady and Bepop just leave me alone, okay?”
Just as Demetri moves to turn, two others come up behind him, effectively blocking his path. Your heart falls to the pit of your stomach at the sight, a sick feeling enveloping you as you shuffle back on your feet.
Something told you this wasn’t going to end well.
“Great. So this is what it’s come to,” Demetri scoffs, “gang assault.”
“Take it down, or we take you down.”
You haven’t heard his voice in a while. Not since at he All Valley tournament. You hadn’t realized avoiding him as much as you had been would make seeing him again so hard. Something as simple as just hearing his voice was making you feel stuck in your place.
“You’d actually hurt me?”
Eli doesn’t respond, and that scares you more than if he had.
“Well, guess what, you’re not the only one that knows karate.” Eyes widening at Demetri’s words, you freeze—he’d barely even learned wax on, wax off. “I just joined Miyagi-Do.”
He kicks his leg back, before pausing, switching his side in preparation.
Scoffing, Eli rolls his eyes; “all right, let’s see what you got.”
It happens in the blink of an eye, you barely have time to process what he’s doing. Eli delivers a nasty kick to Demetri’s stomach before ducking, sweeping Demetri off his feet and having him crashing to the ground.
The sight is almost unbelievable to you—obviously, you’d known Eli had changed but… but to attack Demetri like that?
Demetri really was being terrorized by him.
“Demetri!” You act on instinct, your worry over taking your apprehension as you rush out from where you’d been hiding. Your eyes meet Eli’s briefly, and it’s as if time slows as he falters at the sight of you, lips parting in bafflement at the sight of you there. You just glare at him, rushing to Demetri’s side as you fall to your knees next to him.
“What the h*ll is wrong with you?” You cry at Eli, helping to pull Demetri up by his shoulders as you stare back at Eli in disbelief.
Eli pauses, hesitant on what to say. His friends are looking at him in confusion, obviously not understanding what the problem was before he scoffs; “he was asking for it.”
You just roll your eyes, moving to say something else before you’re interrupted by the sound of the store clerk calling out; “hey, what’s going on back there?”
Demetri uses that split second of distraction to jump to his feet, pulling you with him by the wrist as he races past Eli’s two other friends, making his way out of the comic book store. The second you’re out he let’s go of your hand, a huff leaving your lips as you follow closely behind him.
“What are we doing!” You cry out, distressed.
“Do you wanna fight him?” He calls back.
And you both know the answer to that.
Demetri bumps into two people before knocking over a sunglasses stand. You shuffle back as he goes crashing to the ground once more, quickly moving to help him back up to his feet, calling out a quick apology to the owner of the sunglasses stand.
The second the two of you reach the food court, you both rush to where Robby and Sam had been.
Only, they’re not there.
“Of course they left.”
You shake your head, glancing around, “they wouldn’t have—”
But you don’t finish what you’re saying because you catch sight of Eli, making his way into the food court and as you turn, the rest of his friends are there with him. They’re circling around the two of you, leaving no room for escape as you stumble back on your feet.
“It didn’t have to be this way,” Eli calls out menacingly, eyes set directly on Demetri, “you could’ve joined Cobra Kai if you weren’t such a pussy.”
He’s gaining on the both of you, specifically Demetri, the latter backing up as he pants out; “well at least I’m not an a**hole!”
In the next second he’s grabbed, and you instantly turn to his defense. “Hey, let him—” however, before you can reach him, you feel two hands grab you by the arms, tugging you back.
“You’re dead meat.”
Turning to Eli at his words, you shake your head; “Eli, please stop! He’s your best friend!”
Eli meets your gaze, and for a moment he pauses, faltering, this look of apprehension washing over his gaze before he blinks, and it’s gone. He turns back to Demetri, and panic crawls up the back of your throat as you watch him gain on him.
Except he doesn’t make it far. In the next second Sam is rushing forward, kicking the guy who was holding Demetri back and away, just as you feel the hands holding you disappear. Robby is suddenly in front of you, hands falling on your shoulders.
“Are you okay?”
Nodding, breathless, you shuffle back as he pulls you behind him, Sam doing the same with Demetri.
“You guys need to back off.”
When you turn to Eli, his eyes are on you and Robby, a deep frown marring his lips before he turns to Sam. “I don’t wanna have to hit a girl.”
Robby jumps forward; “you wouldn’t stand a chance.”
Eli scoffs, “five against four?” Then, setting his glare on Demetri, he laughs; “more like three and a half.”
His jab causes a series of laughs from his friends to echo and then, with a single nod from him, everyone moves into action. It happens so quickly, you can barely even process what’s happening. Everybody is throwing hits at one another, Demetri huddled close to Sam as she blocks hits and takes just as many.
Before you know it Robby is suddenly no longer by your side and as you turn to find him, or get closer to Demetri, you pause at the sight of the boy from earlier who held you gaining on you.
He smirks at you, and then suddenly, without a thought, he jumps at you. It happens on instinct, your hand moving to block his punch before you stare back at yourself in amazement. It was the first time you’d been able to actually use any of what Mr. Larusso had taught you in action. The boy huffs at your block, not wasting another second as he moves to attack. He’s quicker this time, and before you know it you find yourself getting overwhelmed, unable to keep up.
It’s his third hit that nails you square in the stomach, the wind being knocked out of you as you fall to your back. A cry leaves your lips as you hit the ground, hands curling around your stomach.
“Hey! What the h*ll man!”
You don’t recognize the voice as Eli’s until he’s in front of you, pulling you up to your feet. He’s suddenly too close, hands falling on your arms as he guides you upwards. You blink up at him as he does, stunned silent at the concerned look in his eyes, a look that reminds you of the old Eli, until you remember just why you were here.
What he’d done. What he was trying to do.
“Don’t touch me!” You hiss out, breaking out of his touch. You slap his hands away, stumbling back all whilst trying to ignore the ache in your gut.
“Y/N—”
“What the h*ll is wrong with you?” You huff, turning distressed by this whole situation—a situation caused by him. “Attacking Demetri?”
Eli pauses, that look in his eyes washing away as his gaze hardens. “He deserves it. If you’d just listen to me, you’d understand—”
“Understand what?” You cut him off, your face hardening as you step towards him, still holding your stomach but putting on a brave face. “That you’re a bully?”
Lips parting, Eli falters.
“You’re just like Kyle and the rest of them!”
He doesn’t say anything, not at first. His lips have parted but no words leave his lips.
You don’t even realize that the rest of his friends have already been knocked down by Robby and Sam. And that now all the attention has turned to the both of you.
Eli steps towards you; “Y/N—”
“Get the h*ll away from her!”
It’s Robby who calls out, rushing towards you as he gently pushes you back, towards Sam and Demetri, the latter grabbing you and pulling you to his side. But your eyes instantly snap back over to Robby and Eli, watching as the latter knocks the former into one of the tables, shuffling back to race towards him in attack.
He jumps up, swinging his arm out for a hit, but Robby just shoots his leg out behind him, kicking Eli directly in the head and thus, knocking him to the ground.
Your lips part as you watch Eli roll on the ground, obviously in pain, feeling your hands shaking next to your side. The instinctive part of you wants to reach out for him, help him. But you don’t move.
Of course you don’t move.
“We saved your chicken,” Sam smiles at Demetri, handing him a to-go box.
“Thanks.”
-
After the four of you had gotten back to Sam’s house, you’d tucked yourself away.
You didn’t have the heart to listen to Robby and Sam go on about how proud they were of how they’d been able to fight together. It was amazing what they’d done, no doubt, but you couldn’t be there. And you couldn’t be there for Demetri, even if you should be.
The reality was you couldn’t believe what you’d seen.
Of course you’d known Eli had changed—it’s what started all of this in first place. It’s what had broken your heart. It’s why you’d had that fight that day. But… but to see him actually go after Demetri like that, with the full intent to hurt him… you never thought he’d actually stoop that low.
He’d even let you get hurt.
Sure, it wasn’t him who did it but it’d been his stupid friends. Who cared if he tried to help you up afterwards? What did that even matter? Is that who he hung out with nowadays?
Is that what he did now? Bully people?
Clearly the answer was yes.
You couldn’t stand it. It hurt too much. All of it. You wished Cobra Kai had never opened up, you wished Eli had never joined—where would you be now if he hadn’t?
Would he still be one of your best friends?
Would… would you be together?
You had no to talk to… Sam was too happy about her win, Demetri was dealing with his own stuff, Miguel was in Cobra Kai… and where was your mom? Not home, like she always was.
There was no one.
A soft knock pulls you from your thoughts, startling you as you blink away the tears that had begun to build. The sound of the door opening pulls your attention up and you falter at the sight of Mr. Larusso, embarrassed at how he’d caught you.
Wiping at your cheeks, you turn away. “I’ll be out in a minute, Mr. Larusso.”
“Y/N…” he calls out faintly, “are you okay?”
You feel a sob threaten to break past your lips at his words, swallowing thickly as you shake your head, still turned away. “I’m fine.”
“Did you get hurt? Are you injured—”
“I just got kicked in the stomach. I’m okay.” Managing to gather yourself enough to look at him, you shrug your shoulders. “Sam and Robby were good. I didn’t really have to lift a finger.”
Mr. Larusso shrugs, attempting to smile reassuringly; “I heard you blocked a couple of hits yourself, though, from Demetri.”
You just shrug; “I wasn’t able to do much else.”
Pausing, Mr. Larusso steps forward, letting the door softly shut behind him. He makes his way towards you, pointing at the spot next to you; “may I?” Nodding, you shuffle over and he takes a seat. He pauses a moment, breathing in, before continuing. “Can I ask you why you decided to join Miyagi-Do?”
Turning to him, you hesitate; “I didn’t want to. At first. But then at the Valley festival I saw your performance and… well, I decided to.”
“That was all?”
“I felt guilty,” you explain further, “because of what Cobra Kai did.”
Mr. Larusso’s brows furrow; “guilty? Why?”
Tensing, you swallow thickly. “Well, um… you know how Demetri mentioned that he was being threatened by his best friend?” Mr. Larusso nod. “He’s mine too and he’s apart of Cobra Kai. He’s the one who attacked Robby illegally at the All Valley tournament.”
Mr. Larusso’s eyes widen. “The kid with the Mohawk?”
You nod.
“Was he there today?”
Your body instantly tenses, giving Mr. Larusso the answer he needs. Still, he waits for you to answer, watching as you slowly turn to meet his gaze. “He was the one who instigated it.” You explain, frowning. “I… I just never thought he’d actually try to hurt Demetri. He’s is best friend.”
“Cobra Kai manipulates kids, that’s what it does,” Mr. Larusso sighs. “It looks like that’s what it did to…”
“Eli.”
“Eli.” Mr. Larusso nods. “But it doesn’t mean he’s gone forever.”
“It feels like it,” you whisper, hugging yourself as you sniffle lightly. “It feels like I’ll never get him back and that it’ll never be the way it was. And it just… hurts so much. It hurts so much I can barely stand it.” The words are pouring past your lips before you can stop them, shocked by how much you’re confessing to Mr. Larusso. “I just want him back.”
Shaking his head, Mr. Larusso sets a hand on your shoulder, squeezing softly. “It’ll be okay, Y/N. I promise.”
Feeling the tears slip past your defences, you shake your head, “and if it never gets better?”
“It will.”
And he says the words with such certainty, no doubt in his voice that it’s enough to pull you from your own desperation. Turning to look at him, you blink at the look on Mr. Larusso’s face, the smile on his lips and can’t help but think it’s been so long since you’ve had a parent show you any care or attention, regardless that you barely know him, that the ache in your heart lessens just faintly at the mere thought.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah,” he smiles. “I’m positive.”
And it’s enough to bring the faintest of smiles to your lips, swallowing thickly as you wipe away your tears, nodding.
“Thank you, Mr. Larusso.”
“Of course,” he grins, “and you were amazing today. Standing up for your friend like that.”
Blushing faintly under his compliment, you shrug, letting out a soft laugh as he stands up. You follow him, allowing him to lead out of the room and back with with Robby, Sam and Demetri, feeling a lot better then you had seconds prior.
Then, the next day, the dojo is trashed.
-
“It was you, wasn’t it?”
Pausing at the sound of your voice, Eli turns. He’d just left the dojo for the night, having stayed a bit later then the rest—you’d texted Miguel beforehand, it was the only reason you knew. He thought you wanted to rekindle things with Eli, and honestly, you were willing to let him believe that.
It allowed you this opportunity.
“Y/N, what the h*ll are you doing here?”
“It doesn’t matter,” you scoff, shaking your head. “Tell me you didn’t actually do it.”
He just shakes his head, moving to walk past you. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Besides, you should go home. It’s late and what would your friends think if they say you here.”
You just huff at his jab, a humourless laugh leaving your lips as you step in front of him, effectively blocking his path. “Don’t try to turn this around. Someone destroyed Miyagi-Do, tore it apart. I… please tell me it wasn’t you.”
Tensing, Eli avoids your gaze. “You don’t know shit.”
“It was you,” you breathe, the truth revealed in the way he couldn’t meet your eyes properly. As his gaze snaps over to you, you shake your head, disbelief clear in your gaze. “You always avoid my eyes when you lie to me. You’ve done it since I first met you…”
Squaring his shoulders and knowing he’d been caught, Eli just brushes you off; “so what if I did? I was finishing the fight.”
“The fight you started!” You cry out, holding your hands out before you in exasperation. “How can you not realize what you’ve done is wrong? You attacked Demetri, trashed someone’s property and stole a veterans medal of honour!”
Eli’s cheeks warm in embarrassment, his eyes widening at your words. “Just… just f*ck off, Y/N. It has nothing to do with you.”
“It has everything to do with me. Demetri’s my best friend too. Miyagi-Do is my dojo. And Mr. Larusso is my Sensei.”
Eli’s lips part, but no words leave his lips.
“I barely even recognize you anymore. What happened to you?”
“I changed for the better. It’s about time you and Demetri changed too.”
Stunned by his words, you falter, your anger suddenly shifting as the hurt resurfaces. “I thought you cared about me,” you whisper, moving to hug yourself as you feel your voice shake, digging your nails into your arms. “I thought you cared about us.”
Never once had you thought Eli would want you to change—to be someone you weren’t. He’d always told you you were perfect the way you were. To know that now he… he didn’t feel that way anymore…
You don’t see it but Eli’s face softens, regret flooding his gaze as he pauses.
Then, with a whisper, he shakes his head; “I do.”
You meet his gaze. “If you did you wouldn’t have done any of this.”
Eli shakes his head again, stepping towards you as you move to walk away. He grabs you by the arm, pulling you close before you can break free and when you meet his eyes, you’re shocked by the desperation in his own. “No, Y/N. I do. I do care about you. A-About us. I still do.”
You watch his face, seeing the look in eyes eyes and feeling the way he holds you, hesitating before speaking. “You don’t regret it though.” You finally say, the words feeling like poison on your tongue as you frown up at him.
Lips parting, Eli’s brows furrow.
“Attacking Demetri, destroying our dojo… you don’t regret it.”
Swallowing thickly, Eli moves to speak before he pauses, as if thinking better. Then, his eyes narrow and gone is that look of desperation. “Of course I don’t.”
Smacking his hands away, you step back.
“I can’t believe you.”
And then you’re turning without another word, refusing to meet his eyes once more even as he calls after you, practically yelling your name.
You just ignore it.
You can’t bear to look at him anymore.

*door slams shut*
My ears pricked up and I turned my neck round on the sofa to see my brother returning home. “Eli! Your back I have something to tell you” I exclaimed scrabbling up. A sigh escaped from his lips and he rolled his head to look at me with attitude. His lips squeezed together and I saw a vein become exposed on his temple. “How many times do I have to tell you y/n?” He replied vexed. “It’s hawk now, why do I have to keep telling you that? You should know by now it’s only four fucking letters.”
The crushed pieces of my heart sank down into my stomach. My throat grew a lump in it. How could he talk to me like that? We used to be so close now he treats me like I’m the enemy. He didn’t even seem to have an modicum of care for what I had to says “fine” my hands flew up in defence as I darted towards the door to escape the situation. “Y/n wait…” he sighed, I didn’t look at him because I know he’d have that guiltily look in his eyes and I didn’t think he really deserved forgiving at the moment. “No don’t worry about it” I swallowed the lump and slammed the door behind my back.
There’s only once place I wanted to ever go after my brother upset me. That was straight to Robby Keane. He was the only one that could comfort me, the only one that could regain my smile after eli broke it. Mainly because he was just so different now, we were once brother and sister and the good kind. We didn’t fight we didn’t argue I was there for him and he was there for me. But now we were opponents. It’s like I was his reminder of how life used to be, how he used to be. It was clear he didn’t like seeing it.
*knock knock*
As the door widened I saw the boy that my heart belonged to. He didn’t exactly know it… but he knew everything else. I told him everything and vise versa. “Y/n? Are you okay… did he start up again?” Robby sighed when he realised what had happened. I nodded slightly and involuntarily my eyes began to fill up like waves from the ocean. “Yeah” i let out a broken sob. He stepped out to me wrapping his arms round me, i could hear his soft breathing in my ear. “I’m sorry” “don’t apologise to me, I’ve told you your welcome here whenever you feel like you need to be” he whispered turning my face so he could look into my teary eyes. “Plus- I like having you here- and around, your good for me”.
I gave him a sad smile, the best I could for the mood I was in. With that Robby took hold of my hand like a gentleman and led me through into his bedroom. Sometimes his house felt like home I was here so often. I plodded down laying on his bed waiting for him to join me. “What happened?” Robby asked in a soft tone. “It wasn’t even that bad but- it’s just the last straw, I walked out on him” I evinced looking into his eyes as he took a seat on the bed. He nodded at me to continue the story. “I needed to tell him something- mum booked a holiday for us it’s so exciting but I called him eli and…” “he had a go at you?” Robby finished for me with a vapid expression.
“Yep” my eyes rolled so they wouldn’t leak. “I just feel so small sometimes, I wish things would go back to how they were with us” I sighed sitting up. When I looked back at Robby I realised how close we were right now. He didn’t look taken back his eyes flicked to my lips. I almost missed it, that’s how quickly he reset himself. “I don’t” he whispered as if I’d put him under some sort of hypnotism. My brain pondered on what he meant by that for a second before he told me himself. “Then you wouldn’t have a reason to come and see me- and i wouldn’t have a reason to do this” he whispered moving towards my lips. He pressed against me and though my brain was in utter shock I adjusted just fine.
My hands flew through his hair making sure I was close enough to him for my liking. His hands gently cupped my face as we both sank comfortably in the kiss. It was so gentle and sweet and out of nowhere! But yet I didn’t want it to end. But it had to. I needed answers. “Robby? Are we- are you-.” “Yes.” He replied nodding his head knowing exactly what I was trying and failing to say. “I’ve liked you for a while- I just never made a move because I didn’t want to start anything with your brother- but then I realised, he’s a dick”. A little laugh tumbled out my lips as I nervously tucked my hair behind my ears. “I want you too” “you don’t realise how long I wanted to here them words” he chuckled leaning his forehead on mine. “Your mine y/n moskowitz”.
One month later
Knowing I had Robby Keane as my other half gave me a new sense of perspective through the month of dating. I ignored Eli more these days, didn’t even bother interacting with him. I knew he suspected something as my behaviour towards him had changed but he had no idea what me and Robby were getting up to. If he ever did- I don’t even want to know what would happen. He never could. Not now anyway. We were happy, really happy, hunny moon phase if you will and I was not going to let Eli ruin this relationship as well. I didn’t want him to bring down my mood either with his new petulance.
“So your missing training tonight?” Miguel asked with wide eyes emphasising the shock. “I’m going to try and get out of this revision class but- I dunno if I’m able to” Eli shrugged as they continued on down the hall. From the corner of his eye he saw me and Robby standing by the lockers talking together. “I can’t you reschedule the revision?” Miguel suggested with a shrug trying to be helpful. “Mmh maybe… why do I keep seeing Robby hanging around with my sister” Eli pulled a dirty look as they both continued past us. “Good one” Miguel laughed innocently, eli turned to face him with his brows knitted together. “Your- telling me you don’t know?” Miguel raised an eyebrow after clocking that Eli was confused.
“Know fucking what?” Eli jerked his head backwards stopping his walking in the middle of the walkway. “Have you not heard the rumours about them dating?” Miguel’s smile dropped and his lips stayed parted so he could breath gently knowing this was going to be bad. “Who dating? Robby and my sister? Dating?” He asked louder with every question. “Apparently it’s been going on for a few weeks” Miguel chewed on his lip watching Eli’s chest go up and down as his breathing got heavier. “Don’t- start some man, your sister will never forgive you” “oh yes she will! Once she realises I’ve ridded her of the most incompetent, self centred, dick of a boyfriend ever” Eli growled and with that he took off down the hall way.
“Where the fuck did Keane go?!” He yelled when he got to the place we previously were stood at. “Out side that way with your sister” Dmitri pointed to one of the exiting doors. Eli bounced off his feet and sprinted to the door with Miguel and Dmitri following him. “KEANE!” Eli screamed from across the grounds. Me and my boyfriend whipped around, I knew exactly who it was, I knew exactly what that tone of voice meant. Eli strode up towards us with a bunch of students staring at the show. “What do you want Eli?” I frowned standing in front of Robby. “It’s okay y/n I can…” “no I’ve got this” I shook my head staring Eli straight into his eyes. “You know that’s not my name” he gritted his teeth at me.
“Eli is the name of my brother, I don’t know this hawk but he’s a dick” I folded my arms “what the fuck is this nonsense I’m hearing about you two dating” “I…” Robby started but I cut him off. “So what, what does it matter to you- your so wrapped up in pretending to be this person that you just aren’t that you’ve forgotten about me” “that’s not true” he rolled his eyes exhaling. “Yes it is Eli!” I shouted back “I’m finally happy again after all the shit you’ve pulled and look who’s coming to ruin it all again” my eyes slimmed on me, I couldn’t tell if it was working or pissing him off even more. “I’m not here to talk to you” he scoffed looking at Robby.
“You dating my baby sister huh? Behind my fucking back?” “If you wasn’t such a dick to her it wouldn’t have to be behind your back” he chuckled under his breath “you think this shit is funny?” Eli went to step forward but I pushed him back. He stumbled backwards in complete shock that I even did that to him. “You will not hurt him eli- or I swear on my life we are done” I frowned making him hold eye contact with him. “You will forgive me, once this dickhead stops clouding your judgement” he bounced back. “I will never forgive you because I don’t like the person you are anymore” my shoulders shrugged honestly. Eli looked hurt, some gasps came from the audience.
“Your choosing that scum over your own family? He can’t even beat me in a fight” Eli chuckled looking at Robby who gritted his teeth together angrily. “I don’t care! Do you really think I care about who can beat who in a fight” “y/n he isn’t good enough for you, he’s a bitch” “your still making this about yourself- you don’t care about me you just care because you don’t like him” I sighed shaking my head. “I had to become this person to protect myself and you from people like him!” Eli yelled at me sadly with tears in his eyes. “I don’t want protection! I just want my brother back and I want you to accept that I’m with Robby and that’s not going to change”.
“Well, im not” hawk coldly shrugged “watch your back Keane because I am coming for you, you won’t see me coming” he pointed at Robby while backing off. “Eli! Are you serious!” I yelled across to him but he’d turned his back and walked into the school. Most of the students lost interest in us now. “Well shit” I shook my head sadly turning to Robby “I think I’ve just lost my brother”. My eyes began filling, Robby noticed immediately and brought me under his arm walking me away from the crowd. “Look at me” he whispered wiping the tears off with his thumbs holding my face. “You guys will sort it out! Definitely not today, probably not tomorrow and maybe not the next day but you will” he explained to me.
“But in the meantime, you haven’t lost me” Robby kissed my forehead and I leaned for a kiss. “When I’m with you Robby, I don’t even care about him” I giggled kissing him again much slower this time. “You’ll always have me y/n, always”.

Valley Debutante
Summary: you are a new kid in town, suddenly embroiled in the world of karate... Your better angels tell you to join miyagi do—knowing the devil rests in cobra kai.
But my oh my... In the devil's den sits Tory Nichols.
And you have never wanted to dance with the devil as badly as you do now.
part one of five
Tory Nichols x female reader, teen and up, swearing, angst, bits of fluff, slow burn
'why can't your parents just have you enroll after summer break?' the thought occur to you, sighing wearily as you stuff your books into your new locker. You've been trying—and failing to adjust to your life as a transfer student in San Fernando Valley this whole week—and your peers are surprisingly cliquey about martial arts, which is something you haven't encountered before.
A fist suddenly slams the locker door right next to yours, making you wince. You look to the one doing it...
And it's the most gorgeous girl you've ever laid your eyes on.
Tory Nichols, whom you've only ever seen wandering the hallways when class isn't in motion.
"hey princess, how are you liking it here?" She asks you, her face a teasing smirk as she looks you up and down, settling her gaze on your lips... Whether she realizes it or not, that's what she's doing.
You raise an eyebrow, an honor roll student in the masterclass of being bullied your whole life. So you try to take the high road this time. Juvie is only gonna be breezy once, not so good two time around, turns out shattering your bully's teeth doesn't count as self defense. "It's nice. I find calculus hard,"
Tory scoffs at your response, looking over to her entourage of irritating looking boys with a disbelieving smirk. She looks back at you with an irked expression. "Yeah? Heard you were cozying up to Robby Keene the other day during chemistry. What do you gotta say about that?"
'oh, you're straight,' you thought to yourself, slumping your shoulder ever so slightly, in unearned disappointment. "There was no cozying up," you explain, much to her disbelief.
"then what was that?" She asks, leaning closer against you, trying to intimidate you.
You shrug. "Look, I'll be frank with you. I'm sorry if he's your boyfriend or something, but there was nothing going on. He was being helpful, that's all,"
She doesn't seem to buy it. Her face leans in closer to yours in the packed hallway, to no one's care. "Am I just supposed to believe that?" She sneers, her canines glinting in attempt to appear menacing.
You sigh, the closeness between you two not helping your newly developed crush on this girl you don't even share any classes with up to this point. "He's not my type, I'm... I'm gay,"
'fuck it, right? Why beat around the bush?'
You expect two reactions. One is of disgust, where she will back away and leave you alone or two; she will not believe you at all, and you get pummeled by the local bully.
But you didn't expect reaction three.
She backs off you slowly, with a soft "oh," under her breath. "Sorry," she mutters quietly, almost begrudgingly... Yet with the tenderness you don't expect from a girl of her archetype.
"it's okay," you shrug it off, and you exchange a split second of a charged eye contact with her...
...but before she could say anything in response, the school bell rings.
She looks at you with a troubled expression, wordlessly walking away to class.
Her entourage follows her, but one of them hangs back, sizing you up without any malice. He fishes out a crumpled piece of paper from his bag, handing it to you. "Pick a side, new girl."
You take the paper, and he walks away after Tory. You unfurl the paper, and it reads;
"JOIN COBRA KAI"
"STRIKE FIRST, STRIKE HARD, NO MERCY."
You wordlessly pocket the flyer, making your way to class.
One week later...
It finally happened. You finally share a class with Tory Nichols—PE.
She's hanging out with the Cobra Kai kids in the bleachers of the gym, talking animatedly with them, like a leader of the pack.
Her eyes land on you after wandering around the gym, and you wave her a hello, with a small smile.
She ignores it, of course. But being observant as you are, you also notice the amusement on her face, only there for a split second.
Your classmate and new friend Sarah nudges you with a disbelieving laugh, as you both get settled on the other side of the gym. "What the hell are you doing?"
You shrug. "Waving hi,"
"to Tory?" Sarah mutters in dismay. "You know she's like, the bad bitch of the school, right?"
"bad bitch isn't a bad thing," you argue.
Sarah narrows her eyes, unconvinced. "Yeah, no, when I said bad bitch, I mean she's a bad bitch, literally—she bullied the LaRusso kid to the next eon or something!"
'what is this, elementary school gossip?'
You don't believe Sarah. The Tory you met last week was, yes, rough around the edges; but there's a tenderness to her countenance that you don't really believe could bully someone to that extent. "Isn't that, like, the Cobra Kai thing?"
"yeah, Cobra Kai is bad bad, but also, Tory is a big bully; so it's better to just stay away from her and Cobra Kai in general," Sarah explains. You want to believe her, you do.
But you flit your eyes to Tory and her entourage in the other side of the gym, and you lock eyes with Tory yet again...
...and you may be imagining things, but you could've sworn her gaze softens as she looks at you.
But then she looks away.
Your attention is grabbed by the coach's whistle, echoing its brittle note around the gym as he passes the dodgeball to the biggest, meanest looking kid of them all.
You sigh wearily, standing up on your feet.
'Let the game begin.'
You rub the back of your thighs, red and sore from getting hit by the dodgeball. The class ended ten minutes ago, yet your heart is still pounding out of your chest from all the dodging you have to do—and you got off slightly worse than the others.
Your knuckles are bleeding, your left cheek is bruised; and somehow your toes are also on fire?
You sigh wearily as you grab your change of clothes from the gym locker, searching for any kind of ointment in there.
You didn't notice, but Tory is next to you, apprehensively offering you a tube of ointment without saying a word.
"oh, thank you!" Your eyes widen as you thank her. You take the ointment from her hand... your fingers brushing with hers, making her pull away abruptly.
Tory looks at your genuine expression of gratitude, shrugging. "It's just my old one. Dodgeballs in this school is brutal, so you gotta be prepared, princess."
You don't hate that nickname.
"thank you," you smile at her, clutching the rolled up tube of ointment as if it's your panacea. "Don't suppose you have an ice pack, too?"
Tory scoffs, amused. "You're out of luck,"
"ah well," you sigh dramatically. "Guess this'll have to do," you brandish the ointment she gave you gratefully.
You squeeze the contents out of the tube, rubbing the gel all over your sore spots, making you sigh as the cold sensation momentarily relieves you from the soreness.
Tory is still standing next to you, her face troubled.
"...yeah?" You ask her overstay on your side, and she looks at you, lost.
"why'd you do it?" She finally asks.
"do what?" You ask back, confused.
Tory groans under her breath. "Used yourself as a human shield earlier. During dodgeball,"
You raised your eyebrows, still rubbing the ointment on the back of your thighs. "Well, the kid's just a freshman—he was like, what, 4'5?"
"you don't even know anyone here," Tory said in disbelief. "Yet you did that,"
You stand up to your full height, shrugging. "I mean, it's just... Right, I guess?"
Tory scoffs in amusement, crossing her arms. "So you're a goody two shoe,"
You smile at her, shaking your head. "You did call me princess. Gotta live up to the name,"
You close up the tube, giving it back to her. Tory takes it, and you nod gratefully. You're about to leave the now-empty locker room, turning on your heels—but she stops you, tugging at the hem of your shirt.
"wait," she mutters, almost too quiet to hear.
"yeah?"
"...Why did you tell me you're gay?" She asks, that seemingly being the thing that troubles her.
You smile at her with a shrug. "Honestly, I just didn't want to get beat up. You look like you could kill me,"
She looks at you, disbelieving. "So it's a lie,"
You shake your head. "No, I'm gay. I just don't want to beat around the bush, so I just told you,"
"even though I'm a complete stranger? What if I out you to the whole school?" She asks, astonished.
"but you didn't. Plus, I'm not really in the closet," you recount the facts, shrugging.
"I'm not your friend, princess. You can't go around telling strangers your identity,"
"we're friends now. You lent me your ointment," you decide, matter-of-factly.
She involuntarily let out a chortle, which she covers up with an almost bitchy flick of the fringe. "If you say so,"
You walk out of the locker room not long after, not realizing Tory is still watching you, with a newfound sense of amusement about you.
One week later...
Summer break is really, really near. You wish it would come sooner, as you get antsy about this whole turf war between Cobra Kai and Miyagi-do, like a volcano that's about to erupt without giving anyone within a 30 mile radius any warning.
You're doing your new part time job as a smoothie barista at the mall, and you don't hate it. Bored without anyone walking in, you decide to go to the backroom to sort out inventory, a task you've been putting off for a while.
"Suzy, you mind covering my part behind the counter? I'm gonna do the inventory," you tell your middle aged co-worker of your task, which she waves off without giving a care in the world.
Nodding, you get into the backroom to get sorting.
Not even twenty minutes in, you begin hearing ruckus outside. You have half the heart to just stay inside, let whatever's going on out there blow over and then go out...
...but your better angels tell you to go outside and check. You have a middle aged co-worker, for crying out loud! It could get dangerous for them!
So out you go...
...and not even to your surprise, your peers from the two dojos are having a near-brawl in the middle of the mall, the air charged with tension around them.
You sigh. "This again?" You address Suzy, busy blending a smoothie in the juicer.
She shrugs. "kids gotta have hobbies. I guess the valley just need to deal with it,"
You look over the brawl's direction, not even realizing that your eyes are scanning for Tory—but she's not there. Should you be relieved or disappointed?
"you look disappointed," Suzy points out the obvious.
"I was just looking for someone," you shrug, trying to get back to work, despite the brawl going to happen.
A stray empty can cup whizz past you, knocking down the cardboard standee of the place you work in.
"guessing it's too early to clock out?" You ask Suzy, who only gives you a shrug.
The brawl is happening, going all out. Your peers from both dojos are pummelling each other with kicks and punches—all impressive, really, if you don't have a part time job to do; and if they're not knocking down everything they see in their path with their roundhouse kicks.
"shouldn't we call security or something?" You ask Suzy again, who doesn't give you any answer other than incomprehensible grunting.
The brawl makes their way into the smoothie bar, where you try—and fail; to defend the juicers' honors.
Everything gets knocked down, torn to pieces, shattered, and you try to stay away, backing yourself into a corner where they can't possibly get you.
...until a stray fist connects with your jaw, making you stagger backwards... And falling down on the fake grass of the smoothie bar isn't fun.
"are you okay?" An outstretched hand appears in your vision, amidst the blurriness of everything else after being socked in the face.
You take the hand, gingerly getting up. "I think so... I'm a bit dizzy from getting decked in the face,"
The voice laughs. Everything comes into focus, and the one helping you stand is none other than Tory... In a Dim Sum Express uniform. Still gorgeous. "Tory," you mutter, still groggy.
She laughs, not letting go of your sides until you seem fully aware. "Not used to being punched?"
"this is my first time, actually,"
"welcome to San Fernando Valley, princess." Tory fixes you an amused look, a small smile on her lips. "Now you gotta pick a side."
Before you can answer, a flock of security guards and cops file into the mall, breaking the brawl apart.
'Saved by the bell.'
...until they decided to handcuff you and Tory, too.
To be continued

you scared me, kid
platonic! Johnny x fem!hurt!reader - miguel x fem!hurt!reader
a recreate of a one shot I made like 3 years ago on my Wattpad Ó╭╮Ò
ੈ✩‧₊˚*ੈ✩‧₊˚*ੈ✩‧₊˚*ੈ✩
the beep of the monitor rang over and over, and although annoying it was the best sound miguel and Johnny could hear.
they sat in the cold medical chairs, lacking sleep and a full stomach.
Miguel's hand gripped at the side of the bed, his head resting against his forearm.
his eyes were practically swelled and his hair messy.
it should not have gotten this far, you almost died.
he could barely look at you hooked up to all the equipment, he was infuriated.
once he knew you were okay he'll be sure to beat the shit out of the cobras for a second time.
he'll do it until he doesn't feel any anger anymore, they hurt the love of his life on purpose.
but most of all, he'd make hawk pay for it.
to say that Johnny felt any different as he lied slouched against the couch, hand laid against y/n's was an understatement.
he knew it was wrong but he wouldn't feel bad if he beat those little brats up, and he sure isn't afraid either.
although miguel and Johnny hadn't been the closest of all hell, y/n and Johnny definitely were.
they had been there before Miguel even was, she had been obsessed with karate and had been following his story since she was a kid.
he would always find himself opening the door when he heard her knocks, the special one she came up with to "disguise him". She had thought of him as an A list celebrity when she was young, oblivious that he was far from that, so she did what any kid would. make a super secret spy knock.
They had only gotten closer, y/n found a safe spot at Johnny's, away from her mother and father.
y/n knew johnny was misunderstood, just like her.
he hated to hear the yelling from the apartment aside his, knowing y/n was experiencing that, and that he couldn't help unless she came.
her parents didn't care about her, not even bothering to feed her, she had to live off scraps and the food johnny tried to make her.
y/n managed to persuade johnny to teach her karate at the age of 6, and had only improved to now, 10 years later.
he had practically adopted her, well he did. The papers were sent in about a week ago, y/n's parents and vanished from thin air. presumably to live a better life then their shitty one, and leaving their daughter behind.
he felt her hand twitch slightly in his hands, waking him from the day dreaming.
he shot up in his seat, looking at y/n, seeing her eyes open slowly.
she looks undoubtedly confused but comes back to the reality of the situation.
she looks around, at Miguel sleeping, then at johnny, trying to get up.
"woah- woah. nope you stay laying down y/n." he pushes, seeing her wince but ultimately lie down.
she tries to speak, but her voice croaks instead.
she rolls her eyes and tries to clear her throat frowning.
johnny can't help but laugh a little, seeing her wit definitely hasn't left.
his eyes water, a thing only y/n has seen.
her frown deepens, but her hand squeezes the infamous pattern she's known for.
"its-... okay, dad." she croaks.
and that makes him lose it, never had she called him that and his heart seems full now.
his sobbing wakes Miguel and his face lights up, seeing y/n awake.
"y/n, oh my god!" he practically yells as he hugs her.
johnny joins the hug, them all crying in their little triangle around y/n.
they sit back down, seeing y/n smile.
"definitely gonna kill those bastards." she grits. " what kinda sissy pulls a gun? Shows I was definitely beating their asses."
johnny laughs.
"you scared me, kid."
"I mean who wouldn't be scared of me?" she jokes. "besides, I learned from the best."
Miguel kisses her temple, glad to have her back.
johnny saw himself in y/n and knew he wouldn't ever let her down.

What If
Johnny Lawrence x Larusso Sister Reader
Tumblr media
Requested by @sammarvel123
Summary: After thirty years, Y/N comes back to Reseda for a job offer, and to reconnect with her "what if", Johnny Lawrence.
A/N: My gosh, it's been a while since I wrote! Hope you enjoy it. If anyone wants more fluffs of Johnny Lawrence, I could try to whip up something good again if I can.
It's been three decades since you left Reseda.
You went south, all the way to Orange County, to take up advertising at the University of California Irvine and landed a job at an impressive advertising firm.
You spent three decades devoting yourself as a workaholic, which on the bright side got you to become an advertising executive, earning big money annually.
But work-life aside? You weren't able to settle down the way your twin brother did. You were emotionally attached still to Johnny Lawrence, the boy who you were secretly in love with. It wasn't best to have sparked a relationship with him during the time as he was a pain in the ass to your brother, but it was just interesting to see a different side of him, a side that he only showed to you since you interested him from the very beginning.
While Daniel and he had picked fights constantly before, you were different towards Johnny, he was surprisingly nice and gentle with you. He'd say hi to you around the hallways, somehow slightly but significantly tone down his violence towards Daniel when you were around, and give you no harm. When you once asked him why he treated you differently, all he could muster up with his bad boy reputation was, "You're different, Y/N Larusso." and gave you a small smile, which he hid from everyone else.
Although you knew he always had the hots for Alli at the time, it felt as if... he also had something deep in his heart for you, but never did anything about it. That's why you felt the need to run away, assuming that he'd never do anything about it ever again.
After thirty years, you were promoted by your advertising firm to become the executive of the Reseda branch. You were somehow excited because this was a huge career opportunity for you and you were as successful as your brother in terms of handling a business. As coming back home to Reseda excited you, it also came to be something that made you nervous.
What had Johnny Lawrence been up to these days?
--
After just arriving from Orange County, you entered the Copper Bucket Bar, still wearing your ritzy, corporate suit, with your designer shades still on as it was scorching hot outside.
"Hi, one cold beer please," you say to the bartender.
"Hm, that's a surprise coming from a corporate lady." said a voice from your left.
You turned, looking to see Johnny Lawrence, a childhood crush of yours, who seemed to be looking the same as ever but even more attractive with age, and who seemed to not have realized he was talking to YOU as you still had your shades on.
"And what does that mean?" you asked, walking towards the seat beside his.
He shrugged, giving a small smile at you, "I don't know, man. I just assumed from the movies that corporate assholes would be drinking martinis or whatever sophisticated cocktails you guys can come up with."
You chuckled, as you got your beer, "You're right. I'm usually sipping cosmopolitans or daiquiris but, I'm back home in Reseda. I think I'd like to celebrate with beer, the Johnny Lawrence way," you winked.
He narrowed his eyes in confusion momentarily after you used his name. "Have you seen my flyers?"
"Unfortunately, but I've seen you in your iconic black gi about thirty years ago, looking sharp as ever," you smirked. As he was still giving a confused yet intrigued to look at you, you finally removed your sunglasses, flashing a cheeky smile at Johnny.
"Hey, Lawrence." you greet him.
Johnny's face went from confused to astonished, as his eyes grew larger. He couldn't believe the woman in front of him was Y/N Larusso, his greatest "what if" and high school crush, who he couldn't do anything with because he was the worst enemy of her brother.
"Y/N Larusso." was all he could muster up at first, which made you giggle again, as you opened your arms for a hug. As he hugged you, he remembered all the sweet times he'd been gentle and nice at school, especially when he came up to you during the All-Valley Tournament and said that your brother was alright.
As the hug started to end, Johnny gained the confidence to speak up first. "Thirty damn years and you look the same as ever, but more attractive and powerful-looking." He said, looking up and down at you.
"Aw, thanks, Johnny," you shyly say, "I could honestly say the same thing to you. You aged like fine wine, Lawrence. From the flyers I've been seeing all over town, you started your own dojo?"
"Yeah," he nodded, "I've only got one student right now, cause the flyers don't seem to be working on anybody. Assholes just throw the flyers I hand out or not even take them."
You gave a pitiful laugh, placing your hand on Johnny's shoulder, which may have developed pink spots on his cheek, "Johnny! Are you mentally still in the 80s? Nowadays, people also spread the word online through social media! You should post some on your Facebook!"
Johnny rolled his eyes with a shy look, knowing that Miguel may have embarrassed him with the fact that he didn't know a thing or two about Facebook. "Uh, yeah," he replied, "I kinda only knew about Facebook a few days ago. Never really understood the whole concept of the internet so I just went along with the flyers still."
A confident grin grew on your face, causing you to grab a calling card from your bag.
"You're in luck, Johnny," you said, showing him your card, "You can be handled by the best of Reseda!"
Johnny took the card, analyzing every detail on it. "You know, Y/N," he said, "I've always wondered what you were up to all these thirty years away from me." still looking at the card, not knowing you were blushing over the phrase 'away from me'.
"Advertising, huh?" he said, acknowledging your career, "Your old card from when you were living in Orange County?" he asked, now looking back up at you.
"Mhm, I'll be getting my new card once I start work next week."
Johnny nodded to your reply, "So Y/N Larusso was a fancy-pants corporate from The OC," he teased you, "Did ya come here with a fancy-pants husband from there too?" he asked, with a slight note of seriousness as his eyes seemed to be wanting to know this answer.
You looked down, shaking your head with a guilty smile, "Um, no, never had a boyfriend or husband while I was there. I was pretty much a workaholic," you say. You now looked up, seeing a somehow relieved and happy Johnny.
"Everyone was a dick and asshole from that snooty place?" he joked.
You didn't giggle this time, as you wanted to give a serious and honest answer. "Yeah, nobody was as nice and lovely to me as you were, Lawrence."
Johnny looked at you with his deep blue eyes, but you now felt so nervous to continue the conversation now that you dropped that sentence. What if he was dating or married to someone already? Fuck! That would be embarrassing for you. You broke eye contact with him and took a last sip from your beer. "But I have to go, and maybe you need to go back home to your wife, whoever she is," you say, getting out of your seat in a hurry, "Okay, bye, Johnny," you quickly say as you turned around and dashed for the door.
"Wait, hold on a sec, Larusso!" Johnny yelled as he tipped the bartender. He ran outside to see you driving your car away from the bar.
--
"And you did, WHAT?" Daniel asked in disbelief.
You were staying the night at Daniel's because you were getting the keys to your new house at Encino the next day. When you arrived at his house, you rushed to find Daniel and you started spilling everything.
"I know, Dani, but I didn't know what to do, okay? I just," you sigh, "It's been forever since I've seen him, and, he just looks great, and maybe I was stupid to have said that," which you were referring to when you told him the reason why you stayed single all your life.
Daniel just rolled his eyes with a smile on his face afterward, "You know, sis," he said, placing his hands on your shoulders, "You still like and he still likes you. Trust me."
You huffed, realizing Daniel knew about your not-so-secret pining about Johnny. "He doesn't have a wife?"
Daniel shook his head, "No, no, no," he said, "He has a son around Sam's age, but he was never on the best terms with the mother. He never really had a stable or serious relationship ever since thirty years ago." "I believe the same with you on that note," he then said, grinning at you.
"Yeah, well that'll never change since I fucked it up earlier," you groaned.
"Nah, I'm sure he'll come around soon. Now that you're back home for good, I'm sure something will happen."
"And you'd be okay with that if ever?" you curiously asked your brother.
He gave a small smile of support, "I think he and I are okay. I actually bumped into him a few days ago and paid for his car repairs. Times have changed, but I don't think his secret love for you has."
You roll your eyes, turning around to hide your blush, "Okay, Daniel, I'm gonna go dip my feet by your pool now."
--
It was only ten to fifteen minutes after your conversation with your twin brother.
You were by the pool, dipping your feet in the water when a doorbell was heard. "DANIEL," you shout, "Someone's at the door!"
You continued to be with your thoughts, wondering what you could have done differently earlier at the bar. Muster up the courage to keep the conversation going? Ask first if he was single? What?
You wanted to ask yourself more questions when a voice caught your attention.
"Hey," Johnny said.
Oh no. The feeling of great guilt and embarrassment swam all over your body.
"Hey," you copied Johnny's greeting, looking at him as he sat beside you.
There was a short moment of silence after, the both of you, just staring at the water. God, were you supposed to start and explain everything? Was that what he was waiting for?
"I don't have a wife or a girlfriend," Johnny spoke up.
You slowly nodded to his statement, pursing your lips together. "Yeah, Daniel just told me."
"Hey, Johnny," you continue, now making eye contact with him. "I'm sorry for storming off like that. I guess I just didn't have the courage to see your genuine reaction when I told you why I was single my whole life. I know we barely talked all the time before, but your niceness and sweetness to me were different and maybe I just always saw you as my 'what if' if we ever had something with you. But I just didn't know if you felt the same since you never really asked me out or have any romantic interactions with me."
Johnny placed his hand over yours, rubbing his thumb in circles, "Y/N, you were my biggest 'what if'. I was such a dick for not choosing to do anything about it, you know, with the bad boy reputation and the fact that you were your brother's twin sister and all. The best I could do was not throw harm on you, but now, I realize how that was the worst and only thing I did. A simple gesture of asking you out on a date would've changed everything, wouldn't it?"
"It sure would have," you agreed, putting your other hand on top of his, "Would you like to try this again with me, Johnny?"
Johnny was not only smiling with his lips, but with his eyes now. He took your hand and gently kissed the back of it. "I'd love nothing more than that, Y/N."
"Perfect." You embraced him, giving him a more, genuine and loving hug to which he hugged you back tighter in exchange.

✯ you were popular

✯ and it just so happened, eli ‘kid with the lip’ had a BIG FAT CRUSH on you, his lab partner
✯ every time you’d talk to him, he would FOLD
“um eli? could you please move your hand so i can grab that?”
“o- OH UM y-yeah sorry”
✯ ik it’s weird to type stuttering but he FR BE STUTTERING
✯ he was fr surprised that u weren’t a brat like the other rich popular girls..
✯ one time, you went through the ‘dating kyler’ phase……
✯ but when you saw kyler bullying eli?
✯ you stood up for him, which just made eli FALL MORE IN LOVE.
✯ he was a sweet boy while you two were partners
✯ you were always so nice to him, he didn’t know why
✯  like he’s always thinking ‘you’re popular, im not. why are u being so nice????’
✯ so then one day he asks you
“hey, y/n. why are u always so nice to me?”
“huh, wym?”
“well all the other popular people usually just ignore weirdos like me yk?”
“i don’t like to judge people before i talk to them, eli. and for the record, i think you’re pretty cool”
✯ he FOLDED
✯ in class, he would always try to graze your hand by ‘accident’
✯ touching knees under the table.
✯  the first time you two ACTUALLY BONDED
✯ it was whenever you hadn’t ate anything one time in class
✯ and he offered you a candy
“hey, y/n… do you want this?”
“what? no no no keep it, eli. it’s yours :)”
“just take it, y/n”
✯ it wasn’t much, but to him it was worth it, he got to see your pretty smile
✯ after that day, he’d bring u a candy every day
✯  you never let the other kids call him weird or anything, you always stood up for him
✯  when he finally learned karate, all he could think about was impressing you with it

Masterlist Navigation
• To begin with, he wouldn’t really know what to do. He isn’t quite sure how to get to know you or find out what you like as he’s used to people who are more outgoing and sociable, and his own awkwardness doesn’t tend to help in these situations. But after a while he finds a way to talk to you freely once he realises the best way to make you feel comfortable around him.
• Despite his new found confident appearance and how he acts around the people he knows, deep down he’s still the shy and quiet boy he once was. He felt insecure and just wanted to hide away from the majority of situations until he found somewhere he truly belongs and could thrive in - so he’d never judge or rush you through your shyness as he knows exactly how you feel.
• Hawks’ friends may seem blunt when you first meet them, but that’s only because they’re close to one another and are practically a family who know what each other’s boundaries are. So when you first meet them he makes sure to give them a little warning before hand to just be easy on you until you feel able to open up to them.
• He definitely takes his time with you, and would never rush you into anything. Even when he asks you on dates or just wants to spend time with you he wouldn’t make you feel like you had an obligation to do so (he wants you to be happy and comfortable whenever the two of you are together). He also tries to find out where your favourite places are or what you like to do the lost just so you know how much of an effort he is putting into your relationship and how much he wants to spend time with you.
• Hawk knows that people who are quiet and shy are very much subject to bullying much more than people who seem to be loud and confident are. So every now and then he tries to teach you some self defence moves as he knows that you may not be comfortable in a planned social setting like to dojo. However, if you did ever want to join he’d be extremely happy and excited to have you around - and he’d definitely show off as much as he can (that his friends definitely make fun about because of how silly he looks while showing off sometimes).
• If he has a competition he absolutely wants to have you there to watch. He knows that you might not want to interact with some of the people there (which he finds to be completely fine) but just knowing that you’re there to support him gives him a massive ego boost. Also, when you’re there he performs to the best of his ability, better than he ever could without you; you’re his good luck charm and the reason he tries his best.

JUST ONE MOMENT:
Won’t be back until the end of the month.
You stare blankly at the text from your mom, unsure how to feel. She was supposed to be back tonight. Literally tonight. And this time, you really thought she was going to be back…
It was the closest you’d gotten without her calling you to tell you she’d be coming home later. You’d allowed your hopes to get up and now you were paying for it. You knew not to… you knew not to let your hopes get up and to think she’d actually, for once, come home.
But you had. Because you needed her. You needed your mom. After everything that’s happened, all you wanted was for her to tell you it’d be okay.
You hadn’t even gotten a call this time. Just a text. A stupid, meaningless text.
Feeling your eyes burn, you quickly click off your phone. You don’t want to look at it anytime—you can’t stand those words staring back at you, almost mockingly, like a constant reminder that she wasn’t here and you don’t know when she would be.
“Hey, are you okay?”
Jumping at the sound of Robby’s voice, you spin around to face him, eyes wide as he stares back at you in concern. You shift your gaze past him, to Sam and Demetri who are still trying to lift that damned rock, and curse silently. You thought no one had been paying attention when you snuck off at the sight of a text from your mom.
Clearly, you were wrong.
Wiping at your tears and cheeks hastily, you shake your head; “I’m fine.”
Robby seems hesitant, brows furrowing as he takes a small step towards you. “A-Are you sure? I mean—”
“I said I’m fine, Robby!”
Rearing back at your sudden outburst, Robby blinks, a flash of hurt flickering across his face that has you instantly regretting the way you’d yelled at him. “Alright, sorry. I’ll just…”
“No, Robby, I’m sorry,” you sigh, reaching out for him and pulling him to a gentle stop. He turns to you as you do and you offer your best apologetic smile that probably looks a little meaningless considering there are still beads of tears building in your eyes. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to get mad. It’s just my… my mom.”
Robby instantly pauses at that, the expression on his face changing. “Your mom?”
“Yeah, she… she’s away a lot for business and I never see her. She was supposed to be back home tonight, but something happened… again. And she won’t be back until the end of the month.” Then, pausing, you shrug. “Maybe. I don’t know anymore.”
Lips parting, Robby’s eyes soften. “What about your dad?”
“He died when I was a kid,” you explain, swallowing thickly. “I never really knew him.”
“Oh.”
“I’m just not… used to telling people this. I’ve only ever really told Eli this and a little bit of it to Demetri so…”
Robby’s quirks a brow; “the kid with the mohawk?”
Shoulders falling, you nod. “Yeah, he used to be… well, not like that.”
Robby nods and an awkward silence falls over the both of you. You’ve never really told anyone your home situation, besides Eli and Demetri, and you’re not really sure how Robby will react.
Or, even, why you told him.
It just… it felt like he’d understand.
“My mom left me alone to go to Cabo with her boyfriend and my dad is currently the one running Cobra Kai.”
Eyes widening at Robby’s confession, you blink, head jerking back in surprise as he, oddly enough, smiles down at you. He’s smiling in a way that’s meant to comfort you, tell you you’re not alone because he understands.
He gets it.
“Johnny Lawrence is your dad?” You question, leaning towards him in disbelief.
Robby laughs, “yup.”
“Woah…” you breathe, giggling lightly at the revelation—you would’ve never guessed that.
“See, there ya go.” Turning to Robby in confusion at his words, he just shakes his head. “I got you to laugh.”
Cheeks warming slightly at his words, you flicker your gaze to your feet, stunned silent on what to say. For a boy who’d originally avoided you and glared at you any chance he got—he was honestly, very sweet. And it was nice to know that there was at least someone who understands what it felt like to be alone.
To have no one to go home to.
To have no parents to rely on.
“Thank you, Robby,” you say after a moment, meeting his eyes with a smile. “I really appreciate it.”
“Of course,” he nods, before pausing in thought. “You’re okay, though? Like you have food and water and—”
“I’m okay, Robby,” you cut in gently, shaking your head to wave away his worries. “My mom pays for everything still. I guess she still cares enough to make sure I have a roof under my head.”
Robby shoulders fall with ease; “good. Mr. Larusso and his family are allowing me to stay with him because of my mom and I just wanted to make sure.”
Lips parting, you shake your head. “You’re staying with Sam and her family?”
Brows furrowing in confusion, Robby nods slowly. “Yeah?”
“That must be interesting for you and Sam.”
“What?”
You just snort, “the two of you clearly like each other.”
Robby’s cheeks redden almost immediately and his eyes widen, this sort of panicked look washing over his face as he steps closer to you, lowering his voice to a whisper. “Is it that obvious?”
Giggling, you shrug; “a little.”
Robby sighs, brushing his hair back before he blinks and suddenly, a frown mares his lips. “Doesn’t matter though,” he sighs, “Sam doesn’t return the feelings anymore.”
Quirking a brow, you turn to Robby in disbelief. “Are you kidding me?”
“What?”
“Anybody who pays attention can see she’s constantly watching you, and she hangs on to your every word. She’s been trying to dress up a little more to impress you and,” turning to Robby, you laugh at the look on his face. “Need I go on?”
Blushing heavily, Robby shakes his head. “No, I’m good. Thanks.” Then, shuffling on his feet slightly, Robby just huffs. “I just—”
“Uh, excuse me?” A new voice cuts off Robby, causing you to turn around slightly, looking towards the entrance of Miyagi-Do. Your eyes widen when you see a few of the boys from the mall attack. “Is this Miyago-Do?”
“Yeah,” Mr. Larusso answers, pushing himself to a stand.
Robby takes one look at you and then back at Sam, before he’s suddenly rushing past you to make his way over to them. “Come back for another beating?”
“Hey, Robby! Robby!” Mr. Larusso calls out, taking Robby by the arm and stopping him before he can do anything.
“This is one of the guys who was beating on Demetri!” Robby explains, his hand held forward in gesture. “Probably helped trash the dojo.”
Faltering at Robby’s words, you bite your lip.
“We didn’t have anything to do with that,” the boy argues, shaking his head. “But I am sorry about what happened at the mall,” he apologizes, purposely leaning up to speak past Robby and Mr. Larusso and at Demetri himself. “We just wanna learn Miyagi-Do karate.”
“I’d be careful about this, Mr. L,” Demetri warns, “letting the Cobra Kai’s into Miyagi-Do. It’s like letting the wildlings behind the Wall.”
Mr. Larusso pauses in thought, before turning to Demetri. “Didn’t the wildlings help Jon Snow win the Battle of the Bastards?”
Blinking, you’re surprised—you wouldn’t have thought Mr. Larusso would know Game of Thrones.
Demetri pauses in thought, before scoffing; “should’ve picked a different analogy.”
Mr. Larusso turns back to the boy; “we’re happy to have you.” Then, extending his hand out in a handshake, Mr. Larusso smiles. “Nice to meet you.”
You meet Robbys gaze before glancing past him at Demetri. Biting your lip, you make your way over to Demetri, setting your hand on his shoulder. “Give him a chance, Demetri.” You meet his gaze, “we know perfectly well what Cobra Kai can do to a person.”
And at the look Demetri sends you, you both know he can’t argue with that.
-
Hey. Can we talk?
That’s what the text had read.
Only, it had come from Moon.
It felt weird, skipping out in karate lessons today. After yesterday, it was amazing to see not only more people join Miyagi-Do but for you all to come together as a class. Demetri and Chris had managed to lift that stupid, heavy rock together which you’d thought would be impossible considering how heavy it was.
Mr. Larusso had shared his experience of when he’d joined Cobra Kai and how it had changed him as a person—it made you think of Eli. Of how much he’d changed. Of how different he was.
But it was what Mr. Larusso said that brought you all together.
And now, for your first real class all together, you weren’t going to be there.
Mr. Larusso was understanding about it all, and said that when I was ready I could come back whenever I needed. When you had gotten the text from Moon, it felt wrong to just ignore it. Even though you barely knew the girl, it was still sweet that she reached out to you.
You didn’t know why but… it was still sweet
So, now, you were standing in her bedroom, awkwardly waiting for her to come back with some drinks. You’d insisted you didn’t need anything, but she’d insisted otherwise and had promptly left, leaving you no room for any argument.
“I got us some lemonade, if that’s okay?”
Turning around at the sound of Moon’s voice, you smile gently at the hopeful look in her gaze, nodding your head. “Yeah, that’s totally fine. Th-Thank you,” you offer, unable to stop the slight shake in your voice as you take the glass from her hand. You feel a little awkward, unsure on what to say–you’ve never really spoken to Moon before. She was friends with Yasmine and for as long as you can remember, she’d always been beside her laughing. Sure she’s apologize but, after all that, she’d been Eli’s girlfriend–he’d replaced you with her in a second and although it wasn’t her fault, you hadn’t known how to talk to her.
It was too hard. Because every time you saw her, you thought of Eli making out with her at that party and it felt like your heart had been ripped in half all over again.
“Are you nervous?”
She’s smiling as she asks, moving to take a seat on her bed, an act you follow two seconds after her. You sit on her bed apprehensively, holding the glass of lemonade tightly towards yourself–it’s the one thing stopping yourself from shaking currently.
Swallowing thickly, you raise a brow; “is it that obvious?”
She laughs lightly, “a little.”
“Sorry,” you admit, lowering your gaze. “I just… I guess I just don’t know why you wanted to talk to me.”
“Hawk and I broke up.” She explains, causing you to turn to her in bafflement, lips parting. She laughs lightly at the look on your face, noticing the small bit of twisted relief that washes over your face as you take in her words. “I broke up with him, after what he did to Demetri.”
“Oh,” you mumble, stunned by her explanation. Demetri had told you countless times how nice Moon really was, and it wasn’t that you hadn’t necessarily believed him, it was just hard to listen to that with everything that’s happened. But as you assumed, Moon really was such a nice person–for her to break up with Eli because of what he’d done to Demetri… well, it showed she really did care about Demetri.
“But I also know that you liked him,” she adds, “like him.”
Feeling your cheeks warm, you tense.
“I don’t know what happened between you guys. But I do know he cares for you. He tried to be subtle about it, but every time you weren’t there, he’d ask where you were. And every time your name came up, there’d be this look in his eyes…” Smiling softly in thought, Moon shrugs. “I just wanted you to know that I’m done with him and really, I should’ve broken it off with him long ago. It wasn’t fair of me to do that to you.”
Disbelief running through you, you adamantly shake your head. “No, no, Moon… it wasn’t your fault.” Then, pausing, you falter slightly. “I didn’t know he… I’m so sorry.”
“Hey, you can’t help your feelings, right?” She laughs before pausing, shifting her body so she’s meeting your gaze properly, nodding. “And he really does like you, Y/N. That much I can tell.”
“Yeah, well…” Brushing your hair back, you shake your head. “I also can’t forgive what he did to Demetri.”
Moon nods, a solemn expression crossing her features before she’s grinning up at you. “Enough about boys,” she laughs, setting her hand on your arm gently as you turn to her in confusion. “I didn’t just call you over for just that. Honestly, I’d… I’d like to be your friend… if you want?”
Moon wanted to be… your friend?
“I’d… I’d love to,” you whisper, smiling gently at her.
She beams, clapping her hands excitedly before herself. “Perfect! We have so much to catch up on!”
You smile as she continues to talk, feeling your heart soar at the thought of the two of you friends. While she’d never been the main perpetrator, you’d always thought Moon had thought of you how Yasmine had–you thought she hated you. And then, if you were being honest, maybe a part of you had hated her as well. For dating Eli, for getting to be the one he kisses, the one who holds his hand…
But she really was just as nice as Demetri said she was.
For her to recognize your feelings for Eli, for her to recognize Eli’s feelings as well and not feel jealous or mad that he’d been, well, unfair to her in their relationship… it was incredibly mature and understanding of her. Any girl would feel jealous and hurt if the boy they liked and were dating clearly showed signs of affection for another girl.
But Moon?
Moon just wanted to be your friend.
-
“I’m just not sure a party is the best idea right now.”
“You’re the one who said you wanted to come because Moon asked you.”
Moving to send a glare over your shoulder at Demetri, you scoff at the grin on his face. “Haha,” you drawl, shaking your head at him as he lightly bumps his shoulder into your own. “You’re so funny.”
“I am hilarious,” he laughs, “besides, I brought trivial pursuit and I know how much you love trivial pursuit.”
“Yeah,” you grin, “because I always kick your ass.”
Scoffing, Demetri shakes his head; “you beat me one time.”
“Two times.”
“One.”
“Two!”
Chris rolls his eyes from beside you, shaking his head. “Do you two ever not argue?”
Turning to Chris, your eyes twinkle; “yes. Demetri and I actually get along quite well.”
He just snorts, “clearly it’s when no one else is around.”
Meeting Demetri’s gaze, the two of you shrug, continuing to make your way up the steps leading to Moon’s house. “There’s already a lot of people here,” you comment, glancing around at the amount of people already loitering around her lawn.
“Yeah,” Sam nods, “I guess Moon must have invited other kids from school.”
“If I’d known there’d be this many people, I would’ve brought Balderdash,” Demetri sighs, shaking his head in disappointment. You just laugh at his words, offering a hand on his shoulders in an attempt for comfort before the group of you make your way into Moon’s house.
It’s quite crowded inside as well, music blaring while boys and girls alike drink and chat amongst each other. You have a lot more hope for this highschool party then you had the last, and plan to just enjoy yourself–tonight was about you. And you planned on keeping it that way.
At least, that was what you thought until you saw Eli, along with his friends, sitting on the coach across from you.
Actually all of Cobra Kai is there.
“I’ll get you next time, okay?”
And of course, Miguel walks through the door with his new girlfriend, Tory, who you’ve had the pleasure of hearing Sam complain to you about plenty of times. You’d personally never spoken to the girl, but if the look on Sam and Robby’s face are anything to go by, or even Miguel and Tory’s, this just turned a whole lot more tense.
“Let’s go,” Tory calls out, pulling Miguel with her.
“Sam! Y/N!” At the sound of your voice, you ease slightly at the sight of Moon making her way over to the both of you. “I’m so glad you came. The kegs are out back, drinks are in the kitchen, and the vegan pigs in a blanket just got out of the oven.”
“Moon,” Sam quickly says, “you never said anything about inviting Cobra Kai.”
“Well, I figured with summer ending and school starting back up, we could stop all the fighting and be friends again.”
Honestly, it didn't sound like such a bad idea to you.
“It’s wishful thinking,” Sam frowns.
“Sam, trust me. Get rid of all this negative energy. Clear your chakras and have some fun.”
She sends one last smile at you before walking off. You turn to Robby and Sam as the three of you are left alone, not having noticed Demetri or Chris walk off in the midst of it all. “Well, I mean,” you speak up, pulling both of their eyes on you, you smile. “It’s worth a shot, no?”
By the look you receive, you get your answer pretty quick.
-
Eli hasn’t taken his eyes off of you all night.
You can feel his stare digging into your back everywhere you go. You’d made the mistake of meeting his gaze briefly when you were talking to Moon, only for him to quickly look away pretending as if he hadn’t been watching.
You tried to ignore it, using alcohol as a way to get him and everything else off your mind. Sam and Robby had gone off somewhere, you’re not exactly sure where, and when you’d tried to find Miguel to catch up with him, he was busy with Tory. Last you checked, Demetri was trying to get Chris and a few others to play trivial pursuit with him and despite what you had said when first heading into the party, you didn’t really feel like playing a board game.
It didn’t help that the one time Eli wasn’t watching you, he was flirting with some random girl.
It made you think of Moon’s words–but I do know he cares for you–did he really?
You couldn’t figure it out.
He was so confusing. All of it was so confusing and you couldn’t be bothered to deal with it tonight. This whole thing has been one mess from start to finish and you weren’t even at the finish line yet.
So, chugging back your fifth drink of the night, you choose to ignore it. You were always the one who played it safe, you were always the one who took care of others. Weren’t you allowed to have some fun?
So what if you wanted to drink? You felt you were perfectly justified in that want.
Especially because every single sip made ignoring Eli just a little bit easier.
So when your visions getting a little bit blurrier and it’s getting harder for you to walk without stumbling about, you simply ignore all the warning calls in your head. Who cared? Not you. Not anymore. Or at least, not at this moment. You wanted to have fun, like Moon said, and you were going to do so.
You’re making your way through the crowd when you trip over your own footing, losing your balance enough that you feel yourself soaring forward. Your mind isn’t sober enough to be able to catch yourself and somewhere, in your fumble of thoughts, it crosses your mind that you’re going to fall. But you hardly care or realize, and then suddenly before you hit the ground there’s a pair of arms catching you, pulling you upright as you giggle at the sensation.
Once you’re upright, your eyes squint at the boy in front of you, trying to figure out who it is. But it isn’t someone you recognize.
“My hero,” you giggle up at the boy, shuffling on your feet while holding onto his arms.
“Woah,” the boy calls out, stumbling back slightly as you lean your full weight against him. “Are you okay?”
“I’m perfect,” you grin, though it’s clearly a lie. You can barely stand on your own two feet without swaying on your feet and your words are slightly slurred, or at the very least slow. “How are you?”
“I’m–”
“Hey, beat it!”
Suddenly the hands holding you shift and you’re passed into another awaiting pair of hands. You rear slightly at the movement, your vision blurring as you feel the world tilt slightly, a sick feeling flooding you as you try to gather your bearings. There’s yelling next to you, but you can’t make it out clearly.
“I was just helping–”
“I’ll kick your a** if you try something like that again. F*ck off.”
Was that… that sounded like Eli…
Tilting your head back, you’re faced with red and a pair of eyes shifting to stare down at you. You instantly recognize them, even in your intoxicated state, and suddenly, everything becomes a little more clear when you realize it’s Eli holding you. “Eli?” You call out, brows furrowed in confusion as you stare up at him. “What are you doing?”
“Helping you,” he grunts, shifting you slightly against him, “how much have you had to drink?”
Mood soured at the sight of him–the one person you’ve been trying to avoid all night–you try to push yourself out of his arms. It’s a futile effort. You may have sobered up enough to recognize who it was holding you, but you’re still drunk, and your arms aren’t working the way you want them. Your legs either. You’re too weak to push him away and honestly, you’re not sure if you could even stand properly if you did manage to push him away.
“None of your business,” you pout, crossing your arms over your chest.
Eli scoffs, “clearly too much.”
You weakly push against him; “leave me alone. I don’t want to talk to you.”
“You can barely stand,” Eli reminds, quirking a brow down at you as you turn your head away. Despite your words, Eli can’t help but smile slightly at the pout on your face–it’s incredibly cute and it’s been a long time since he’s been able to have you this close to him. He likes it. It feels natural. Reminds him of how it used to be, and he’s reluctant to let you go.
“I can stand perfectly fine.” You argue, puffing your cheeks out.
Wanting to make a point, Eli steps back, slipping his arm from your waist. You balance on your feet for no more than a few seconds before the world tilts once more and suddenly you’re swaying. Eli catches you around the waist once more, holding you up against himself as he grins down at you.
“See?”
“Shut up,” you mumble, cheeks red slightly in embarrassment. “Still don’t want to talk to you.”
Eli’s shoulders fall. “Come on, Y/N. What’s it gonna take for you to talk to me again?”
Turning to him, you huff; “apologize to Demetri.”
His face falls, eyes narrowing as he scoffs, shaking his head.
“See? Until you–”
“Excuse me! I’d like to make a toast.”
Both you and Eli pause at the interruption, your head turning only to see Demetri, up near the speakers with a microphone in hand. You blink at the sight, pausing in confusion as you feel Eli’s grip on you tighten.
“To Eli Moskowitz.”
Suddenly, you have a very bad feeling about this.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Demetri laughs. “Some of you might know him as Hawk. But underneath that crazy clown cosplay and whatever type of Manic Panic he dumps in his hair, he’s still good old Eli. My binary brother.”
You turn to look at Eli. His attention isn’t on you, but his jaw is clenched and there’s anger in his eyes. The hand not holding you is clenched tightly, knuckles white. It’s then you notice Aisha and one of his other friends stood next to him.
“Well, he was my binary brother.” Demetri corrects, tilting his head. “You know what he is now? A real zero.” And for emphasis, he makes a zero with his hand, making direct eye contact with Eli.
“All right, that’s enough, Demetri,” Eli calls out.
“Don’t let that angry red hairdo fool you,” Demetri brushes him off, “he’s a big softie. We watched every Harry Potter movie together. And he bawled like a baby when Dobby died.”
A chorus of laughs echo, and you feel yourself tense. One look at Eli and you know he’s about ready to lose it.
Demetri adds to it by mocking his crying.
“All right, if he doesn’t shut up,” Eli speaks up, turning to his friend, Mitch you believe his name is. “I’m gonna shut him up.”
“Remember what Sensei said about showing mercy.”
Demetri continues, adding more salt to the wound as Eli’s eyes fall on you. You swallow thickly as he turns to you, a grimace on his face and the hurt clear in his gaze as he meets your eyes. “Do you see what I mean?” He asks, gesturing to Demetri. “He deserves it. He’s too much of a pussy to confront me himself.”
You’re too drunk for this. That much is clear. You’re not processing things clearly. Why was Demetri doing this? Yes, what Eli had done at the mall was horrible and he deserved some sort of payback for it but this? This felt too far. This felt…—but then again, was it? Demetri didn’t know about the dojo and that it was Eli’s fault, but you did. You knew it. It was Eli’s fault. Not to mention, Eli’s been practically terrorizing Demetri. You knew that. Demetri told you, you witnessed it–so why did you feel bad for Eli right now?
“In the words of Eli’s hero, Steve Jobs, ‘I’ve got one more thing’. Have any of you heard of sleep enuresis?”
Eli tenses next to you, body completely freezing.
“Don’t.”
“That is the medical term, of course. In the King’s English, it’s good old-fashioned bed-wetting.”
Blinking, you shake your head; “Demetri.”
But he just shakes his head, eyes flickering from you back to Eli. “Eli here is a pro. My mom even had a special air mattress for sleepovers. And she called it…. ‘Eli’s waterbed’.”
Once again a chorus of laughter echoes.
Eli’s shifting, letting go of you in a fit of rage as you wobble on your feet. “Scr*w mercy,” he growls, “you’re a corpse!”
You reaching for him, missing his arm just by an inch. “Wait, Eli!”
He doesn’t listen to you, stomping forward before Chris steps in his way. “You’re gonna have to go through me.”
“Stay out of it, traitor!”
It’s all happening so fast. Robby’s stepping forward the second Eli makes a move towards Chris, “hey, don’t touch him.”
“Or what?” Aisha snaps, eyes set dead on Robby.
“Guys,” Moon calls, stepping beside them. “Stop. We’re friends.”
The world feels as if it’s spinning. You can barely process what’s happening.
“Oh!” Someone calls from the crowd, “I smell a rumble!”
All of a sudden there’s a flash of red, then blue and the familiar sound of a police siren echoes.
“Cops!”
Everyone moves to scatter, panic flooding the entire crowd.
“Demetri!” You hear Eli bellow distantly, suddenly unable to stand straight as you feel the sick feeling in your stomach once again. “You got lucky! I’ll see you in school!”
Distantly, you realize you need to get away before the cops come. Given how much alcohol you’ve drank, you’ll be in even more trouble. But you can’t really see properly, everything’s dizzy, and people are pushing and running past you, nearly knocking you off your own two feet. The panic mixes with the nausea and you feel yourself tensing in fear, unsure what to do.
Then, a pair of hands fall on you.
“Come on.”
It’s Eli.
He… He came to help.
Wrapping his arm around your waist once more, he helps lead you out of the house. You let him lead you, trying to resist the urge you have to throw up. Neither of you say anything. Not until you’re out of the house and far away from everyone else.
“Is your mom home?”
You turn to Eli at his question, and he frowns.
“Nevermind. I know she isn’t.”
He’s leading you to a motorcycle, handing you his helmet the second you reach it. “Here,” he says gently, helping you put it on before he sits on the motorbike, pulling you gently behind him. He wraps your arms around his waist, “hold tight, okay?” You just hum, nodding as you let yourself rest against him, pressing your head against his back to help ease the dizziness.
He reaches your house rather quickly. Before you know it the feel of wind in your hair has stopped and he’s helping you off the bike back to your feet. He easily fishes your keys out of your pocket, leading you through your front door and up the stairs. When he turns to your bedroom, you grip onto him tightly.
“Bathroom,” you whisper, shaking your head.
Nodding, Eli listens, and the second he flicks on the light to the bathroom, you’re rushing out of his grip and onto the floor, barely making it to the toilet before you finally throw up. Standing awkwardly at the door, Eli turns his head at the sight, grimacing at the noise as you heave and gasp over the toilet.
When you’re finally done, you pull back, breathless, the sound of the toilet flushing echoing through the silence.
Eli turns to you, a worried crease in his brow. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” you croak, “drinking wasn’t as fun as I thought it’d be.”
Eli snorts, moving to crouch in front of you. “It’s more fun when you don’t chug it,” he shrugs.
You nod, then at the silence that echoes, you add after a moment. “Thank you, by the way. For… For helping me out of there.”
Eli nods; “I wouldn’t just leave you there.”
You frown at his words, glancing down at your lap as you fiddle with your hands. You don’t know what to say, so you don’t say anything.
But Eli… Eli needs to say something.
“How long has your mom been gone?”
“A few months,” you shrug, “she said she’ll be home by the end of the month.”
But as you meet Eli’s gaze, you both know there’s a low chance of that.
“I missed this, you know,” Eli whispers after a pause of silence.
“Me throwing up in a toilet?”
Eli just chuckles, “no, um, us. I missed us.”
You just shake your head; “I doubt that. You had Moon.”
“Yeah, but…” Faltering slightly, Eli turns his head, unable to stop the flush of his cheeks as he swallows thickly. “But I missed you. Being with you. Um, hanging with you. It wasn’t the same with Moon.”
Unable to stop the way your heart flutters at his words, you meet his gaze. “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” he nods, “and I’m sorry I ever made you think otherwise.”
Stunned at his apology, you stare up at him, seeing the sincerity in his gaze. It’s the first real conversation you feel you’ve been able to have with him–one that didn’t involve yelling or arguing. Just… just talking. Seeing reason. It felt like the Eli you knew and loved was back, sitting across from you.
“I–”
A ding interrupts you. You pause, blinking as you turn to your phone, a series of dings echoing shortly after.
“It’s Demetri,” you explain to Eli, scrolling through the texts popping up on your phone.
Hey, are you okay?
Did you get away before the cops came?
Where are you?
“He’s wondering where I am,” you add, moving to reply back.
Eli scoffing, stops you. “I don’t know why you still hang out with the loser.”
Brows furrowed in confusion, you glance up at Eli. “He’s my friend, Eli. He’s yours too.”
“He’s a loser is what he is,” Eli argues, “especially after what he pulled tonight.”
“Sure, Demetri might have gone too far but you also attacked him at the mall.”
Eli just shakes his head, “he was asking for it. You didn’t see what he wrote about Cobra Kai.”
“He was probably right,” you say gently, biting your lip. “Eli, Cobra Kai is bad… It turned you into a bully.”
Eli laughs, but there’s no humour in it. “A bully? You’re still on about that sh*t?”
“It’s true!” You cry out, unable to stop the way your voice spikes slightly. “I mean, you attacked Demetri and you trashed Miyagi-Do! You stole Mr. Miyagi’s medal of honour.” Shaking your head, you reach out for Eli, gripping onto his sweater. “That’s something a bully would do.”
“And what? What Demetri did tonight wasn’t?”
“It was,” you admit, “but… I can’t blame him–”
“Figures you’d take his side.”
Shocked by his words, you move closer. “No, Eli, it’s just–”
“Hawk.”
Blinking, you jerk your head back. “What?”
“It’s Hawk. My name is Hawk.” Narrowing his eyes at you, Eli rips his arm from you. “I’m not Eli anymore. It’s about time you accepted that.”
Unsure what to say, all that manages to leave your lips is a whispered; “you’ll always be Eli to me.”
“Whatever,” he brushes you off, and your eyes widen as he moves to a stand. You move to follow him, but stand up too quickly, falling against the wall as he turns away, “call Demetri to help you. Or better yet, why don’t you call… what’s his name? Robby? You two seemed to be getting pretty close.”
“What, no? Eli, just wait–”
He pauses, head turning over his shoulder as you grab onto his arm, desperately.
“I don’t like Robby,” you cry out, “I like you.”
“You like Eli.” He argues, and your lips part, but no words leave your lips, giving him his answer.
Pulling your hand off of him, Eli just turns, leaving the bathroom and making his way down the stairs. You’re stunned at the spot for a moment, unable to move, before you’re blinking out of your stupor, rushing to follow after him, trying to salvage what little moment you had there. It felt like you were reaching him, like you were finally getting to him–getting him to see the light.
But when you reach the bottom of the stairs, the front door is slamming shut behind him.
-
This was insane.
All of it.
More than insane–this was just ridiculous.
After Tory publicly threatened Sam over the P.A. system, everyone had gathered in the halls. It wasn’t hard to find where the two of them were, the massive crowd grouping around them was enough of a sign. The second Tory had revealed that Sam had kissed Miguel at the party last night, everything went to shit.
It was bad enough Robby was there to hear it, confirming your suspicions that the two not only liked each other but had started dating–Tory had immediately started attacking Sam after that. When Robby had tried to get in between the two of them and stop it, Miguel had seen it and thought he was attacking Tory, thus moved to attack him in retaliation. From there, it was a chain reaction.
Every single member of Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do started an all out brawl in the middle of the school hallways.
You tried to stay out of it, dodging hits here and there, while trying to keep an eye on Sam and Tory, or at the very least Miguel and Robby. You knew nothing about Tory, other than just what Sam had told you (and that had been anything but good), but the look in her eyes had been one of undeniable rage and you didn’t want to find out just exactly how mad she was with Sam. And how far she was willing to go.
It was bound to end horribly.
Not to mention, the last time Miguel and Robby had had a fight, there had been rules, a referee, someone watching. There were no rules here. Nobody cared. There wasn’t a single teacher around, and by the way things were escalating, you knew something was going to happen. You just weren’t sure what.
Everything had blown out far of proportion.
Of course, you kept your eye on Eli too.
Even after what had happened last night, even after how he’d left–even if your heart felt as if it was breaking all over again. You may have been sick and a little inebriated, but you still remember his words from the party last night.
Demetri! You got lucky! I’ll see you in school!
And this right here? Was the perfect opportunity.
So, when all of a sudden you can’t see Eli and his familiar red mohawk or Demetri, panic floods your entire being. The fight had moved into the main foyer, and Sam and Tory were currently fighting on the steps with Robby and Miguel on their heels, each trying to get to their respective girlfriend. But you could barely pay attention to them anymore.
You had no doubt in your mind that Eli was with Demetri given that you couldn’t see him either.
Head spinning every which way, you feel your heart pounding madly against your chest, fear coursing through your veins at what could possibly be happening. You remembered the look on Eli's face when he’d tried to hurt Demetri at the mall, the unrecognizable glint he’d regarded Demetri with–he couldn’t see reason anymore. He couldn’t see what he was doing or how wrong it was. And if he couldn’t realize that, whose to say what he’ll do to Demetri given the chance.
Especially after what Demetri had said last night.
“Demetri!” You call out, rushing through the halls. “Eli! Where are you!”
You’re making your way through the school halls, barely paying attention to your surroundings. And then, just as you turn a corner, two boys suddenly block your path. You jerk to a stop, baffled, until your eyes fall on the boy standing in the front. It’s the boy from the mall, one of Eli’s friends, the one who’d attacked you. And by the twisting gleam in his eyes, you have a bad feeling he means to again.
“You again,” you huff, hands falling by your sides as you shake your head. “Look, I’m not trying to fight anyone. I’m just trying to find–”
“Hawk,” he interrupts, smirking widely. “We know.”
“We don’t plan on letting you through that easily.”
Your brows furrow, confusion flooding you. “Eli–Hawk told you to stop me?”
He just scoffs; “no, he doesn’t know.” Then, he takes a threatening step forward, rolling up the sleeves of your sweater. “Which means he can’t stop me either.”
He jumps at you in the next second, fear leaping through your throat as you just barely manage to block his punch. As you stumble forward, the other boy with him jumps in front of you. He manages to hit you across the cheek, your vision blurring for a second as you reel back. You create some distance between you and the two, pressing a hand to your nose, only to pull back and see blood.
When you look back at the two of them, they’re laughing.
Jesus.
Huffing, you square your shoulders, kicking out your left leg, letting your eyes fall shut as you breathe in deeply. You know this, you know how to fight–you hadn’t joined Miyagi-Do and done nothing. You’ve been training. Now was the time to put it into action.
As soon as your eyes open, you leap forward, dodging the coming hit at your head and managing a kick against the second boy's chest. He huffs in response, stumbling back, as you turn your attention back to the main boy who had it out for you. You’re able to evade his first two hits, landing a punch across his face, before he delivers a nasty kick to your leg, causing you to fall back with a groan, feeling the wind get knocked out from beneath you.
The second you blink the boys gaining on you, rolling over just as he moves to hit you. Pressing your hands to the ground, you force yourself up, kicking your leg out at the second boy who just got back up to his feet. You manage to hit him square in the chest this time, knocking him back so he hits the set of lockers behind him, effectively knocking him out.
“Looks like it’s just us,” the boy scoffs, grinning down at you despite his busted lip.
Eyes widening as he races towards you, swinging hit after hit, a cry leaves your lips as you block one of hits wrong, feeling your wrist crack. The boy laughs in response, it echoing across the otherwise silent hall as you glare at him, shaking your head.
You needed to get away from him.
You needed to get to Eli and Demetri.
Inhaling sharply, you turn just as he kicks at you, spinning yourself around, and using your other arm to land a hit against his shoulder. He stumbles back in response and you don’t hesitate, kicking your leg out before yourself, nailing him in the stomach as he coughs in response, doubling over, shuffling on the spot.
Holding his stomach, he glares up at you; “you b*tch.”
You just roll your eyes.
You didn’t care about him.
You need to find them.
You turn, ignoring the slight ache in your wrist and the blood pouring from your nose as you break out into a run once more.
“Demetri! Where are you!”
Pushing open a door, you come to a halt when you finally find Eli and Demetri. It’s just the two of them, and they’re fighting. Eli is the one on offense, Demetri doing his best to block his attacks and your eyes widen as you watch Eli hold nothing back. He swings without hesitation, without withholding any of his own strength. He has every intention of hurting Demetri.
He wants to hurt Demetri.
“Eli!”
His name leaves your lips in a shrill cry, cracking in desperation as he pauses, head turning to look at you. His lips have parted, eyes falling on yours as shock floods his gaze, probably surprised at the state you’re in. You ignore his confused look, staring back at him with a frown and a horrified look, shaking your head.
It’s clear what you’re asking.
Please don’t.
But then Demetri shuffles back, and he just turns away, scoffing as his face hardens. He lets out a cry as he swings his fist back, moving to hit Demetri directly. You freeze, body tensing, fear flooding you, until Demetri dodges the hit, managing to grab Eli. He says something, something you can’t hear from where you’re standing, before he spins the two of them around, kicking his leg out and hitting Eli directly in the head so that he crashes into the trophy case, glass shattering everywhere.
Stepping forward, Demetri glances down at him. “Sorry… Eli.”
And as you watch it happen, Demetri moving to walk away, you can’t help but wonder what happened.
To the three of you.
Why was it like this? Why had it turned out this way?
Why did Eli have to change?
“Y/N,” Demetri calls out for you gently, pulling you from your thoughts as you blink up at him. “Come on. Let’s go. You’re hurt.”
You meet his eyes, lips parting but saying nothing, nodding, before staring past him, at Eli, who has since forced himself up to his knees. His eyes are already on the two of you, his eyes set into a nasty glare as he watches Demetri gently guide you forward, as if hiding you from Eli. Anger courses through his entire body as he watches Demetri lead you away from him, embarrassed at having lost, and frustrated at the whole situation of it.
And when you don’t fight Demetri, letting him lead you away, Eli swears he’s never felt such rage.
