Artists, websites, interesting places & things ! ...
My memory is poor. As for the purposes of updating, I will add new postings to the top of the list. Albeit not alphabetized in this manner, it is easier to maintain. I started the list so I would have all of the artists I love, places I've been, websites I like, all at a glance whenever I work on projects. Then I decided to share it. I mean, why not! At present it's mainly names without context. Which is a little unfair to artists. However, as I get more settled in my new home,I will provide more links, etc.(With Artists Permission Naturally.) Thank You For Being Here ..... ~S
Peter Coulson - Photographer
Alina Bobyleva - model. (With the exception of a few fashion photographers I greatly respect, (*One of whom I will link above this note), I don't normally like to put too much emphasis on the modelling industry per se. However, with as much focus on blond or raven haired, tanned models. This young lady is a fair skinned redhead. When I was growing up as a fair skinned dark shade redhead, you never saw yourself represented in the fashion world.

Catalogue exposition Palais Galliera 2023

HL & Portal / Wings of Fire crossover time bc I like dragons and both of these franchises and I want to get it off somewhere before I made art of them
This crossover is basically just the characters of Half-Life and Portal in a Wings of Fire setting. The worldbuilding is altered slightly to accustom them more, Pantala and Pyrrhia still exists and tribes from both continents are well-acquainted with each other to a degree that's beyond what the books depicted, tribes from one continent are frequently sighted in another and are found to even inhabit them.
Animus dragons (god forbid they can just thanos snap the Combine and Xen flora-fauna invasion out of existence) and scavengers don't exist in this crossover. So essentially all characters are just dragons, and humanoid entities are also dragon-esque in design
Black Mesa and Aperture Science are located on Pantala, their company names remain unchanged because I have no idea on what else to call them lol. The events of HL2 and so forth takes place in Pyrrhia
Anyway on with the characters themselves keep in mind these are only humans (and probably some robots) so there'd be no humanoid aliens like Vorts or the Nihilanth. Also because I said in the context of the world that means their names will follow the naming rule of the tribe I designated them with so there won't be last names (but I'm tempted to call Gordon Freeman 'The One Free Wing' lmao) I won't show their names yet bc some aren't finalized yet 😭

268 Directors and the end of the blog
This post marks the end of the Ask a Director experiment. I’m so grateful to all who have contributed, supported and engaged with it over the past six and a half years.
This blog was started at a time when I felt incredibly alone in the directing field. I had always been taught that a director operates solo, that it was a lonely career and above all, it was based on scarcity. This was a style of working and living that didn't fit for me. I wanted to talk to other directors about their practice and thoughts about the field, both national and international. This blog was started as a way to connect, to uplift other directors and to create a conversation about the changing field and practices.
It's surpassed all of these goals and brought me more joy than I can name.
I'm now at a moment where my practice and advocacy are taking different and exciting paths and it's time for me to put this site to bed. I remain committed to uplifting other directors, to talking about the practice, to flattening hierarchies, to opening doors for new ways of working, and leading rehearsal rooms, companies, and classrooms away from silos and vacuums. Featuring these 268 different directors was just the beginning.
I encourage you all to hire them (and others), advocate for them (and others) and choose to work in a system that values connection and generosity.

Glenway Wescott Personally: A Biography
“In 1925 Glenway Wescott sailed for France to write his second novel, to join the other American expatriates living in Paris, and to become a literary figure within the modernist movement that Ernest Hemingway and Gertrude Stein termed the Lost Generation. His second novel, The Grandmothers (1927), went through twenty-six printings within six months and won the Harper Prize Novel Award—its publication had been likened to the appearance of Winesburg, Ohio and Spoon River Anthology. Wescott met Hemingway, Stein, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ford Madox Ford, Djuna Barnes, Jean Cocteau, Robert McAlmon, and other luminaries of that period. In fact, Hemingway parodies Wescott, who had been an openly gay man and a literary rival, as Robert Prentiss in The Sun Also Rises. For all intents and purposes, Hemingway first introduces Brett Ashley, in today's terminology, as a "fag hag" along with Prentiss/Wescott and other gay men.
Glenway Wescott (1901-1987), however, has been marginalized in American literary history. Fortunately, with Jerry Rosco's engrossing and well-written biography, a rediscovery of this important and long-neglected American writer is underway. Wescott wrote the novella The Pilgrim Hawk (1940), which is about two American expatriates in France and their encounter with an Irish couple and their pet pilgrim hawk. Many critics consider this work to be one of the most distinguished novellas of twentieth-century American literature—this important book, long out of print, has been recently republished with an introduction by Michael Cunningham. Wescott also wrote a best-selling novel called Apartment in Athens (1945), the story of a Nazi officer's occupation of a Greek family's home during W.W.II—this novel, too, has been long out of print but will soon be republished. He was elected to and served as president of the National Institute of Arts and Letters in the late 1950s and early 1960s. As the self-proclaimed Dean of Homosexuals, he did extensive work for Dr. Alfred C. Kinsey and the Institute of Sex Research. He published an exquisite collection of critical essays and reminiscences called Images of Truth (1962) about his friendship and admiration for six important writers: Katherine Anne Porter, Somerset Maugham, Colette, Isak Dinesen, Thomas Mann, and Thornton Wilder.
Rosco, however, did not write a literary biography in that analysis and explication of his novels, short stories, and essays are kept to a minimum. His strategy was to concentrate on the life, the historical times, the friendships, and the lovers of this writer, especially his lifelong partnership with museum administrator Monroe Wheeler. Wescott met, knew, or formed intimate friendships with most of the literary and artistic figures of the twentieth century—Rosco's index is a virtual Who's Who of literature and art. Rosco has done extensive and meticulous research to illuminate not only the life of this extraordinary man of letters but also the gay subculture of Paris and New York City. To read through this biography is to read through the making of American literary history.”

Who's ur favorite character in each fandom you write in? ~Nym
Oh, gosh, that is a good question. I.... Picking is hard.In no particular order (because I actually have to go and check to see which fandoms I’ve written in):
Miraculous Ladybug: I really like Plagg. He amuses me. I like a lot of characters in the show, though.
Randy Cunningham:9th Grade Ninja: Debbie or Viceroy. ...not actually sure which....
Danny Phantom: Danny or Valerie, probably? I relate to Jazz a lot, though. But Dani’s really interesting... This is hard.
American Dragon: Jake Long: Hmm. Jonathan’s always good for amusement.
Doctor Who: Donna or Ten; the dynamic between those two will forever be my favourite and I love them both.
Supernatural: I, like almost everyone, quite enjoy Castiel, but some of the women in the series who’ve been killed off are up there. (Charlie, the Harvelles, Missouri, etc--you name ‘em, I probably liked ‘em.)
Rise of the Guardians: Bunny is great. Not to write, but to watch. Bookwise, I’d pick someone else, though. Tooth, I think.
Chronicles of Narnia: So many different characters, though. Should I pick Susan because she’s the only one I’ve really written? The others hardly count; that was more of a cameo.
The Dark is Rising: Probably Will. Then Bran.
Gravity Falls: ...Grunkle Stan?
Over the Garden Wall: Wirt.
Harry Potter: ...the twins? Luna? McGonagall?
Quantum Leap: As amusing as Al is, I gotta go with Sam.
Merlin: Again, picking the main character, because Merlin. Followed by Gaius and Gwaine and Arthur.
Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) (1969): Marty Hopkirk. The ghost for the win, there, really.
SeaQuest: Kirstin, I think. Dr. Westphalen.
The Mentalist: Rigsby.
Ratatouille: Linguini? Colette? Remy? Actually, Emil was amusing, too.
The Magic School Bus: *shrugs* Ms. Frizzle?
...I think that’s all the fandoms I’ve written in. I kept forgetting some of the crossovers, thinking I was done until, nope, didn’t think about that one yet. *grins* This was a fun challenge, Nym. Thanks!
