For your cow!hob enjoyment, i just saw a reel of some sort of cowboy event where a man dressed in white runs between two lines of cowboys who are throwing lassos, ropes, triplines, etc at him and just before he makes it through he's caught and trips up with ropes around his ankles. (He also has a fantastic ass. Like every single comment on the video is about his ass in those tiny shorts. This is very important to the concept)

And just. Cowhob at some sort of festival playing this game except whoever lassos him gets to keep him for the evening and while he's good, every single rancher in the area is in the lineup and he has to make it past *all* of their lines. Or well. Not all of them. Just enough to get to the prettiest rancher he spotted earlier.

This is such a concept!!!!!!!!

Cow Hob has a reputation: he's fast, athletic and has never been caught. He's fond of the ranchers, and he enjoys the game, but he's never seen one that he's wanted to go home with. Until now... "Dream" is beautiful, mysterious and ethereal in his dark clothes. Hob has finally found the rancher he'd like to be with - maybe even for more than a night!

Luckily Dream is equally determined to bag the prize - the beautiful brown cow with the gorgeous butt. He's seen Hob before, and always admired him. Today is the day they will finally meet for real.

Hob absolutely scampers through the first few lines of men. He's more of a blur than a cow, making himself as small as possible so they can't even get the rope around a finger. He runs faster and dodges quicker than he ever has before... until the final line. He doesn't stop, he just... glances at one of the ranchers. Long enough for the rope to trip him and pull around his legs! Oh no!

He's lying on the ground panting when Dream hurries to check that he's okay. And Hob is like "Hey, you caught me!" And he's grinning - Dream can't help but grin too as he helps Hob get up. Sparks are flying for sure. But now Dream has his cow, he'd better prepare himself for the ride - because Hob is a wild one!

Dream Endless was a city boy that was known for his beauty, it didn't really bother him much until he caught the unwanted attention of Rodrick Burgess. He hated how the older man kept looking at him and when there was a talk of marrying him off to the eldest Randall, Dream had enough. He gathered all of his belongings and went off to the countryside to start a new life. He managed to get himself a cozy place to stay at, all he needed was a job so he was quite delighted when he saw an advert in the newspaper for the job of farm hand at The White Horse farm.

When he asked around for the directions however, he noticed how the locals were hesitant to answer, some even telling him to reconsider but when prompted refused to elaborate further on it. After a while he eventually got the directions and headed over to the farm, it looked normal enough so he wondered what was about the place that made the people so nervous. He headed over to the wheat field to see if the owner was around but all he saw was a scarecrow with ravens around it...or at least that's what he thought it was, until it began to lift it's head to look at him. Dream was startled but after a brief introduction, he learned that the 'scarecrow' was actually Hobo Heart, the farmer who made the advert. They shook hands (Dream found the white haired male's hand cold and bony, witch matched the tattoos on his whole body) and Hobo Heart began to introduce him to all the animals, starting with Gertrude the chicken, Ricardo the rooster (who loved metal music) and Mathilda the sheep. Dream listened intently as he was explained how to take care of them but when the farmer suddenly yelled out 'Sugar cube!', he was surprised to see the prettiest cow that he ever laid eyes on. He soon learned that the cow was named Hob and that he'll be a part of his tasks at the farm, though he was barely listening with how much he was mesmerized by those beautiful brown eyes.

When Hob approached him for a pat, he was shocked by how soft his brown hair was, and his floppy ears were just so adorably soft. Dream's reaction brought a small smile to the farmer's lips, delighted that the introduction went well

Thinking about warprize cat!dream having king cow!Hob's bigheaded baby.

Cats do tend to hide when it's their time is it not? So I imagined Dream slinking (waddling) through the corridors when he feels the first twinge, and suddenly he feels like he has to press close to the wall. Everything is just so vast and open, TOO vast and open, and it makes him extremely uncomfortable. Cow architecture is made to fit many people at once because they're extremely sociable, high ceilings, big rooms, big windows, big everything. Dream feels slightly nauseous, even if it didn't bother him before.

So he hurries through the castle, searching for something, not quite knowing himself for what exactly, when he gets closer to the servants areas and happens upon the first (huge, built-in) linen closet.

In the blink of an eye, Dream is inside and curled up. It's narrow, dark, soft, and smells good, and the best thing is that nobody's around.

This changes of course when, a few hours later, the contractions get worse and he can't keep quiet anymore. Also the whole castle is searching for him because he just kinda vanished.

The first poor servant who tries to open the closet gets their face full of claws. The light hurts Dream's eyes (and he's hurting enough already, thank you) and also he needs to be safe.

Through the haze and his own pained sounds Dream can hear more people arrive and then leave again, and then there's a soft, soothing voice, reassuring him that nobody's gonna disturb him, that that is gonna be okay.

It's Hob. Hob sits himself in front of the closet and keeps watch, and talks the whole time to keep Dream grounded (and has a hard time not opening the doors himself with all the sounds coming out).

He's rewarded when, after a particularly nasty hour of screaming, he's tugged into the closet by a weak paw, the doors shutting behind him.

His eyes have a hard time adjusting to the dark and the air is thick with the smell of amniotic fluid and sweat and blood, and then something squirming and slimy and warm is pressed into his arms. Hob's entire existence screeches to a halt the first time their child drinks from him.

He's kinda lost to the world, cradling them in one arm, Dream in the other, half asleep and drinking from his other teat.

That's probably why, when someone tentatively tries to open the closet again, he decidedly shoves it closed again with his foot.

(The linens are kinda ruined, tho. But that's a price Hob is absolutely willing to pay.)

I absolutely adore this idea. And God do I feel bad for Dream. However many months of carrying Hob’s huge baby have truly done a number on him already, and he's so ready to not be pregnant!!!! He'd dearly love to be back in the cat kingdom now. They tend to set up special nooks and crannies like catperson sized cardboard boxes for their pregnant individuals to retreat to when the time comes. Cat midwifes are also very "hands off" - nobody interferes unless there's a serious problem. To be honest, Dream wouldn't mind a helping hand just to haul the baby out by it's adorable little horns. But he knows that it's best to let nature take its course.

The labour is worth it in the end, because the baby is perfect. Dream even finds himself thinking that another one wouldn't be so bad. The sight of their little one suckling enthusiastically from Hob is truly one that Dream will never forget (and he is very grateful that his husband is a portable source of milk, because he really needs it right now).

Hob finally emerges from the closet hours later with the baby latched on firmly to his teat, and a very exhausted Dream wrapped around him like a deflated serpent. At this point he's thinking that they'll just remodel the closet into a birthing suite... because the way Dream keeps looking at their newborn so adoringly, he gets the feeling that it won't be the last time it's needed!

Dreamling fic idea

While Dream is stuck in the fishbowl, Destiny wants to help him but can't directly interfere, at least not without an excuse. But Dream has made a bargain with a lesser being, promising to meet him every hundred years on a specific day. If Dream doesn't show up, he's broken this bargain and is in breach of some ancient rule or other.

Which means Destiny has an excuse to summon him to answer for this "crime" - if the lesser being who the bargain was made with raises a formal complaint.

So Hob is waiting at the White Horse all day and night, just in case Dream shows up, but then one second after midnight, he gets whisked away to Destiny's garden. Hob is accused of breaking a bargain with an Endless and threatened with horrific punishments, because Destiny needs Hob to defend himself and say that it was Dream who stood him up. Hob has not got the memo and is worried that if he says it's Dream's fault Dream will be the one who gets horribly punished, so Hob is all "Do your worst," while Destiny is getting increasingly frustrated and peeking ahead in his book to see if he can get away with just telling Hob what he needs him to say so that he can rescue his baby brother already.

Destiny eventually manipulates Hob into admitting that he was waiting and it was Dream who didn't show up, and Destiny zaps Dream out of the fishbowl to join them to "face the accusation". Dream realises it's all just subterfuge and his pride is hurt that his brother felt it necessary to rescue him, so he's angry with what he sees as Destiny and Hob conspiring against him when he had everything in hand and would have got himself out of there any decade now.

But Destiny sees that Hob isn't cowed by an angry Dream and has seen how much Hob cares for him, and he's annoyed by Dream being too stubborn to say thank you for the rescue, so he decides that Dream needs to be "punished". He announces that since Dream is being punished for abandoning Hob, the punishment will be a magic bond that ties them together and that means that Dream has to visit him frequently. Not enough to interfere with Dream's job, but meaning that Dream has to spend at least an hour a day with Hob or visit him once a week or something.

Dream is angry because he thinks Hob orchestrated this and he doesn't have time to hang out with a human - he has tools to find and the Dreaming to repair. Meanwhile Hob is thoroughly confused because no one has actually explained to him what the hell is going on.
