Partho baby update.. she seems to be doing well today! Very energetic, and has already eaten some Pangea (gecko food). She's so adorable and is doing well with handling already ❤️
So I talked to some breeders about parthenogenesis in crested geckos. Apparently it's not rare, but uncommon for crested geckos to clone themselves and lay a fertile egg once in a while. It's very rare for them to hatch though, most partho babies don't survive in the egg. Then among the ones that do hatch, they usually hatch with deformaties. So the fact that this baby hatched seemingly without any deformaties is what's extremely rare. I still don't want to get my hopes too high on it surviving long though, because there could be internal issues that aren't apparent right now. But yeah this is essentially an exact clone of Kiwi! Meaning it's definitely a female! I'm interested to see how similar their markings are too!
he is so small and he is so loved and he doesn’t even have a single concept of that or anything else in the entire world
