hi robin! out of all of your characters, who do you think has broken the most bones? thanks!!
Probably Lavinia? I’d say May but I think she was more carefully watched in her young childhood than Lavinia was! I’m sure Daisy has broken a few bones but not as many as Lavinia.

*banging hockeysticks pots and pans together* it is JOLLY FOUL PLAY SEASON time to get bitchy with your best friend and also solve a murder that's really a secondary plot in all honesty because you simply canNOT understand why she'd be in contact with a BOY

Here's my favourite 10 Daisy moments for her birthday:
1. In AFT when her and Bertie are DELIGHTED that they are trapped in a house with a dead body.
2. In FCM when she's like 'Ew. A boy" and tells Alexander he can't be a permanent member of the Detective Society.
3. In JFP when Hazel tricks her into admitting that it's a murder in front of Kitty, Beanie and Lavinia and she's like ,' Dammit Hazel! I taught you to do that!'
4. In MAM when Bertie says " I didn't know he was your George ' and she's like ' He's not MY George. Ew.'
5. Again MAM when she says ' Even Bertie's caught it' like love is a virus.
6. In DSS when Daniel Miller says she can't be police because she's a girl and she says that Hatshepsut was only a girl when she became pharaoh. He says 'I expect people complained about her too' and Daisy says 'I expect she chopped off their heads'.
7. In DSS when George says ' I think we like each other enough to tell each other when we're going wrong' and Daisy just says 'I don't like you '
8. In The Drowned Pearl when her and George are arguing over who's in charge.
9. In MAM when her and George are talking about unsolved cases together (because they all talk about their special interests together even though they've only just met and !!!!!!)
10. In The Case of the Missing Treasure when she's just pretending that she doesn't know Alexander.

Thinking about how whenever Daisy loses her cool, it’s for a personal reason (eg Hazel telling her to face her father as a suspect). The only time that she can’t control herself for an (apparently) non-personal reason is when she declares “How dare someone be letting out secrets like this! It’s dreadful! Secrets are … precious, they mustn’t be abused like this! It simply isn’t right! It’s not!” After Elizabeth’s secrets start being released in Jolly Foul Play.

Would Daisy want kids with Amina?
Two answers to this, both kind of the same, and then one more version that’s a bit different!
The first is no, purely because of when the stories are set. Daisy doesn’t know it’s possible to want that kind of life for herself as a lesbian - even the idea of remaining with someone romantically throughout her life is almost unthinkable because there were just no rights for queer women in the 1940s. Lesbianism wasn’t criminalised in the UK, but it was just a legal black hole. Queer women legally did not exist. (Sorry, a downer to start on).
The second is still no, but that’s more because of who Daisy is. Even imagining her in 2024 I can’t see her wanting biological kids, or being interested in pursuing formal adoption. I don’t think she’s very maternal - she’s got a lot going on with her life and she’s very contented, and kids just don’t come into that.
BUT, with all that said … I think that she will probably end up caring for children in her lifetime. She has examples of people who are not her parents who have parented her better than her biological parents ever could - Uncle Felix and Aunt Lucy, the Chief Inspector, even Bertie in a way - and I think she’d naturally bring that energy to her relationships with younger generations. I can imagine her taking in a queer kid who needs help, or becoming the parental figure for her niece Tess - she will parent, in her own way, and she will have people who think of her as their mentor. She just won’t give birth to anyone!

It's 1930-something and you're Daisy Wells on holiday by the beach. Your best friend has just sided with her boyfriend over you about the best ice cream flavour and she won't stop teasing you about your blushing at the pretty lady who served you said ice cream. The boyfriend's best friend has just beaten you in a sandy game of chess and you are unbelievably furious. To top it all off, all 3 of them tell you passionately about how simply terrible English beaches are, and your fury rises. You don't think you've ever been happier.
