SOLO DRESS ADVICE ?

I don‘t necessarily need a solo dress for Intermediate/Open because it is accepted to wear a plain black dress or whatever.

But I found a second hand dress online that I think is absolutely beautiful, even tough it‘s in an older style. But it‘s quite expensive. I‘m wondering whether it would be the same costs to design my own. But resource-wise I think secondhand is more environmental friendly. But then again - is it really environmental friendly to ship the dress from another continent, or should I just design one on my own continent ?

Also, I‘m in love with the color but my friends and family said they would have picked a completely different color to suit me.

So what should I dooo ?

I‘m also worried that I‘ll feel overdressed because most senior ladies don‘t wear the typical solo dresses.

Yikes. I thought I was crazy for thinking this was the case because I'd never heard any other dancer say this before. At college, it seemed like I was the only one in class bothered by how the teachers treated us. I felt like a wimp for not being able to withstand the things my classmates could. I wondered if being a wimp was why none of my teachers wanted to teach me.

Guys. You are not weak if you can't withstand bullying from teachers and artistic directors. You are not the problem. You shouldn’t be expected to take hostility with a smile on your face. So don’t. Speak out. And if your teacher/director won’t listen, find somewhere safer.

Things Dancers want their non-dance friends to know.

1) No we are not as good as Maddie Ziegler so stop asking! 2) No I have dance, isn't an excuse to get out of it... We literally have dance guys... 3) Yes I'm going to stretch right here, right now. Deal with it. 4) We find it weird if you can't touch your toes... 5) you spend $40 dollars on shoes?? Haha my pointe shoes cost like $200...

Dancer problems #2

I wonder if any romantic energy towards a guy takes away from ballet and my dance life? I told a guy this past week I wasn't interested because of dance. I meant it...didn't I? I could hardly believe it when I said it. I've always held this belief that when I started investing emotional energy into a guy, I struggled with dance. And in fact, do worse and go to dance less often. I have to be onto something here. Right?

Saw your post asking about hardshoes for wide feet. Yes, Rutherford’s have wide sizes but I find them too clunky and don’t like the way they sound. My favorite are FeisFayre’s flexipro. They come in wide sizes too!

Thanks a lot! Hope this helps other people, too. I haven‘t decided yet. I‘ll just see which ones my shop has and try them on^^‘

Most people recommended Rutherford or Hallmore and said Fays and Feisfayre generally don‘t work for wider feet. But maybe they didn‘t know Feisfayre has an option for wirde feet now ?
