Broadway's Best Shows has just announced a musical extravaganza with dozens of Broadway stars performing the title songs from over 20 beloved musicals. "Show of Titles" will be available on June 8, 2021 for a limited time only. All proceeds will benefit The Actors Fund.
The evening will be a rousing and memorable celebration of title songs from more than two dozen Broadway musicals spanning nine decades, ranging from "Lady Be Good" to "The Light in the Piazza." But is the original title song disappearing from the theatrical map? What used to be the norm has become a rarity. Tony nominees, for example, from the 60's frequently had title songs. Contrast the 1965-1966-67-68 seasons when 75% of the nominated musicals had title songs, with the three most recent seasons when there was no original title song from a Tony-nominated Broadway musical.
The evening will feature favorite works by Lee Adams, Maxwell Anderson, Burt Bacharach, Irving Berlin, Jerry Bock, Bertolt Brecht, Cy Coleman, Betty Comden, Joe Darion, Hal David, Fred Ebb, Gary Geld, George Gershwin, Ira Gershwin, Adolph Green, Adam Guettel, Oscar Hammerstein, Sheldon Harnick, Jerry Herman, John Kander, Burton Lane, Mitch Leigh, Alan Jay Lerner, Frank Loesser, Frederick Loewe, Cole Porter, James Rado, Gerome Ragni, Richard Rodgers, Charles Strouse, Jule Styne, Peter Udell & Kurt Weill.
With performances by: Annaleigh Ashford, Glenn Close, Len Cariou, Darren Criss, Santino Fontana, Kelsey Grammar, David Alan Grier, Jake Gyllenhaal, Joshua Henry, Isabelle Huppert, Norm Lewis, Patti LuPone, Rob McClure, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Melba Moore, Jessie Mueller, Eva Noblezada, Kelli O'Hara, Laura Osnes, Steven Pasquale, Michael Rupert, Ernie Sabella, Lea Salonga, Phillipa Soo, Will Swenson, Aaron Tveit, Leslie Uggams, Vanessa Williams & Patrick Wilson. And Special Appearances by: Broadway Inspirational Voices, Candice Bergen, Danny Burstein, Bryan Cranston, Sheldon Harnick, John Kander, Angela Lansbury, John Lithgow, Lindsay Mendez, Phylicia Rashad, Ben Vereen, BD Wong & Florian Zeller.
"Show of Titles" is directed by Emmy Award winner Lonny Price ("Best Worst Thing That Ever Happened," PBS' "Harold Prince: The Director's Life," Sunset Boulevard starring Glenn Close) and Emmy & Grammy Award winner Jason Howland (PBS' "Handel's Messiah Rocks" & Broadway's Little Women & Beautiful) is the Music Director/Supervisor.
"Conceived by producer, Jeffrey Richards, 'Show of Titles' is a celebration of the some of the best songwriters of the theatre- from George Gershwin to Jule Styne to Stephen Sondheim, sung by some of the theaters best and brightest stars," said Director Lonny Price. "It has been my pleasure to be in the company of performers and songs I grew up with, some of which inspired me to be in the theatre in the first place!"
"Show of Titles" will be livestreamed on Stellar at 8M EST/5PM PST and available for a strictly limited amount of time. Starting May 17, tickets will be on sale for $29. Starting May 21, tickets will be $39. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to The Actor's Fund.

FBI Has Files From Laptop of Slain DNC Staffer Seth Rich

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has files from the laptop computer belonging to Seth Rich, a Democratic National Committee (DNC) employee who was killed in 2016, according to a new email.
The bureau also has tens of thousands of documents mentioning Rich.
The FBI “has completed the initial search identifying approximately 50 cross-reference serials, with attachments totaling over 20,000 pages, in which Seth Rich is mentioned,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrea Parker wrote in the message to attorney Ty Clevenger, who is representing a plaintiff in Huddleston v. Federal Bureau of Investigation, a case dealing with a Freedom of Information Act request to the bureau.
“FBI has also located leads that indicate additional potential records that require further searching,” Parker added.
The Epoch Times confirmed the email is legitimate.
Parker, who is representing the FBI in the case, didn’t respond to an email or return a voicemail.

The bureau also confirmed it has files from Rich’s laptop and suggested it still has the computer in its possession.

The bureau is “currently working on getting the files from Seth Rich’s personal laptop into a format to be reviewed,” Parker said in the email. She also said the FBI plans on undertaking some level of review of the computer.
The disclosure came as part of a case brought in federal court by Texas resident Brian Huddleston, who filed a Freedom of Information Act request in April asking the FBI to produce all data, documents, records, or communications that reference Seth Rich or his brother, Aaron Rich.
The FBI told the plaintiff in June that it would take 8 to 10 months to provide a final response to the request, prompting the filing of the case in the U.S District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Rich was working for the DNC when he was shot and killed in Washington on July 10, 2016. The murder remains unsolved.
The new email bolsters a key charge in Huddleston’s filing: that David Hardy, the FBI’s records chief, was wrong when he said in two affidavits that the FBI searched for records pertaining to Rich but could not find any.

Seth Rich is pictured on a poster created by police officials to urge people with information about his murder to come forward. (Metropolitan Police Department)
The first sign that the testimony was erroneous came earlier this year when the nonprofit watchdog Judicial Watch received emails exchanged between FBI agent Peter Strzok and Department of Justice lawyer Lisa Page. The production included several emails mentioning Rich.
Another sign came in March, when former Assistant U.S. Attorney Deborah Sines was deposed in a separate case, Ed Butowsky v. David Folkenflik et. al.
Sines testified that the FBI conducted an investigation into possible hacking attempts on Seth Rich’s electronic accounts following his murder. She said FBI agents examined Rich’s laptop as part of the probe and that a search should uncover emails between her and FBI personnel. She also said she met with a prosecutor and an FBI agent assigned to special counsel Robert Mueller’s team.
The FBI declined to comment, citing a policy of not commenting on pending litigation.
The judge overseeing the Huddleston case in October ordered the defense to produce documents and an index.
In the new email, the government lawyer said the FBI has made “significant progress” in searching for documents mentioning Rich, but still has much work left, including processing the approximately 50 cross-references, undertaking some level of review of the laptop, and completing all remaining services.
The efforts are hampered by the FBI’s Freedom of Information Act office being at 50 percent of its normal workforce due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The government is proposing an amended schedule that would give it three more months to produce the records.
Julian Assange

Clevenger, Huddleston’s lawyer, told The Epoch Times via email that his client is hoping to find out why the FBI was involved in the case, and why it originally denied involvement.
“We suspect the FBI may be right that the Metropolitan Police Dept. in D.C. was responsible for investigating Seth’s murder, so that leaves a couple of likely explanations for the FBI’s role: it was investigating a counterintelligence matter or a computer crime. Either scenario would be consistent with Seth transmitting DNC emails to Wikileaks,” he added, referencing a theory about the source of emails from inside the DNC that were later published by Wikileaks.
The theory was the core of a story Fox News published in 2017. It later retracted the report but was sued by Rich’s family.
Fox settled with Rich’s family last month.
A federal judge overseeing the case had earlier this year requested testimony from Wikileaks’ founder Julian Assange.
Rich was killed less than two weeks before WikiLeaks “released a collection of thousands of internal emails and documents taken from the DNC servers,” according to a court filing. One month after Rich’s murder, Assange referenced the DNC staffer in an interview with a Dutch television reporter when discussing the dangers faced by WikiLeaks sources. On Aug. 9, 2016, WikiLeaks offered $20,000 for information about Rich’s murder. The website increased the reward to $130,000 in January 2017.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) several weeks after Rich was shot dead offered a reward for information. A spokeswoman told The Epoch Times via email that the case “remains under active investigation.”
The spokeswoman declined to answer whether the FBI assisted police with its probe. “MPD remains the lead investigative agency over this homicide,” she said.
A firm investigating the DNC situation, Crowdstrike, alleged that the committee’s servers were hacked by Russian actors, but a transcript declassified in May showed the firm had no direct evidence of that claim.
Clevenger said he thinks the timing of the email from Parker, the assistant U.S. attorney, is significant.
“Some of my colleagues suspect the Trump Administration has pushed the release, but I doubt that,” he wrote. “With the purported election of Joe Biden, the FBI brass probably think they are in the clear, and nothing will ever happen to them, so they no longer have any reason to hide what they did.”
WHO WOULD YA BE WITHOUT YR FRIENDS? from Rick Berlin on Vimeo.
Soon after the pandemic hit and I stopped working (St Pats) my roommate, Alex Gang, pointed out that I wasn’t getting any exercise. (At Doyles I clocked in between 3-5 miles a night walking all over the joint.) Thus began, at Alex’s urging, The Walkabouts. The ‘constitutionals’. I loved it. The slowing down pace, the places I’d hurtle past in a car. On my own it could sometimes feel like obligatory homework, but once outside, I was happy to be there. Solo was cool but I realized that if I could ask a friend of mine to walk with me, conversation would quicken the time. Since I’ve not been to the Behan or was yet to land a new job, my social life was void. But on these walks my friend(s) and I would have conversations that lasted a lot longer than they might have at a bar or glancing off co-workers in a ping pong rush. An hour, give or take, was a super good time for all those reasons. Some friends I hadn’t seen for nearly 20 years showed up. Dave Richmond (long ago ally at those Jacques Cabaret clubhouse nights) brought a bag of ‘magic rocks’ which I’d hand out (until I ran outa them) to whomever was with me. Ever the annoying ‘Dad’ Documentarian, I took evidence selfies so I could post em up on facebook. Then #thenickelanddimeband wound up back in the studio to work on a 7 song ep. ‘Who Would Ya Be Without Yr Friends?’ was one of the tunes. Back in 2019 during my surgery convalescence I asked Shamus Moynihan how I could thank everyone who chipped in on a GoFundMe site for the weeks I was outa work. ‘Write a song,’ he said. This is that song, only the 2nd blues song I’ve revere written, and, I suspect, with the exact same changes.
Note: God knows I’m lucky to have as many friends in my life as I do. Aren’t we all? But for this video I stuck with my MO of only including people who walked the walk or whom I ran into along the way. The song is also for those who live too far away or who for some reason I never asked to join up with me. All apologies on that.

Trump and GOP: We’re losing in the polls.
McConnell: I can help with that.
Mitch was cheap — all it took was $5,000 in public donations. — private?
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell squashed two bills intended to ensure voting security on Thursday, just one day after former special counsel Robert Mueller warned that Russians were attempting to sabotage the 2020 presidential elections "as we sit here."
The plans would likely burden the two largest electronic voting machine vendors in the United States, Election Systems & Software and Dominion Voting Systems, with new regulations and financial burdens. Together, the companies make up about 80 percent of all voting machines used in the country and both have far-reaching lobbying arms in Washington D.C. Many of those lobbyists have contributed to the McConnell campaign, reported Sludge last month, an investigative outlet that focuses on money in politics.
Sludge found that Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck lobbyist David Cohen, who has worked on behalf of Dominion Voting Systems this year, donated $2,000 to McConnell during this time. Brian Wild, who works with Cohen and has also lobbied Dominion, gave McConnell $1,000.
Around the same time, on February 19 and March 4 Emily Kirlin and Jen Olson, who have lobbied on behalf of Election Systems & Software over the last year donated $1,000 to McConnell each.
“ Joe Scarborough slammed McConnell for blocking the votes Friday morning.”
"He is aiding and abetting [Russian President] Vladimir Putin's ongoing attempts to subvert American democracy, according to the Republican FBI, CIA, DNI, intel committee," he said. "All Republicans are all saying Russia is subverting American democracy and Moscow Mitch won't even let the Senate take a vote on it. That is un-American."
Our Monday recap includes everything from the drafted teams to Sports Center Top 10 catches in the outfield.
The morning started off with a practice that was meant to loosen up the muscles, but what it turned into was a tryout for the campers to be scouted by their favorite coaches. The looming worry about the lunch time draft left players diving for fly balls, swinging the bat to hit the ball to the moon, and straining muscles they didn’t even know they had. It was as if they were that little kid again in gym class, waiting for their name to be called onto a team. Don’t fret campers, everyone gets drafted! Participation trophies for all!
The doors then closed and the coaching staff got started on the draft. The room was tense as each name was taken and put onto the board. Victor Rodriguez and Frank Viola got into a scrum over a player who they thought would lead them to the 2020 Fantasy Camp Championship. Trot and Dauber whispered side by side, strategically planning their next move. Alan Embree talked up players he knew nothing about to try and throw off next round choices, but the group caught on to his guerrilla warfare tactics. El Tiante fell asleep.

The teams got together, sang a cheer, and headed out to the fields to try and win their first regular season match.
The Bombers and Heroes had a close game in the main stadium. The campers got fired up as their name could be heard over the loud speakers walking up to the plate. Each team was facing the sun in the outfield. Their chances of catching any fly balls was slim. Against all odds, they rose to the occasion! There were multiple catches made that had the crowd jumping up and down, cheering in pure amazement. Steve Wolfe (Awwwoooooooo) made an unbelievable, almost backwards, snag in the right center. The Heroes were able to rally and win 4-6.
Sabe’s Babes and Wins & Saves was a different story. Wins and Saves crushed the Babes, 14-6. Bret Saberhagen was seen shedding a tear in the dugout after the game, while coach Tom Gordon flipped the Gatorade cooler. Yikes… Wins & Saves, congrats on the first game W and welcome to the winner’s circle- for now.
The Legends and the Outlaws had 27 runs all together. These games were coach pitched. Maybe our coaches should get some more practice in before lobbing the ball over the plate. Campers, take it while you can! That was just a warm up. Embree’s Outlaws outlasted the Legends, and came away with the 15-12 victory.
Something must have been in the water at JetBlue Park yesterday morning, because there was another 29 run game. Stanley’s Steamers and Corsi’s Fireballers went neck and neck, fighting until the last inning. Corsi was seen pacing the dugout, almost about the charge the Ump, at every play. After last camp, Corsi was longing for a team that could win a game. And gosh dammit, the Fireballers did not disappoint. His team ended the drought and won the game 15-14. Corsi, your luck may be changing!
The last game was a blowout not usually seen during coach pitched games. Billy’s Ballgamers demolished Nixon’s DirtDogs 18-3. You heard it here folks, 18-3. Trot is known for pitching zingers against his own team, but was that the reasoning here? Or did Billy “Where’s the sunscreen?” Mueller and Keith “I need to take a nap” Foulke draft the dream team to beat?
