I don’t have a title for this show, but the general conceit is that they’ve just started year 5 of their 5-year deep space mission (I think they’re doing wormhole research), and things are starting to get Weird. I am aware certain characters are more developed than others; I have ADHD.
2nd Engineer Joan Lebow: The protagonist, workaholic, bad at parties, unsubtle Joan of Arc symbolism. Probably ex-military or ex-merc. A lot of the weirdness is specifically starting to center around her; she really doesn’t like this. Fatal flaw: takes on too much responsibility.
Researcher Wilberforce Martin: Research physicist, high-strung, just wants everyone to be okay. Fond of tea. Lost his gender in a wormhole (identifies as an agender boy, he/they). Fatal flaw: blind loyalty.
Flight Physicist Raleigh Batjargal: Here for the grand adventure. Engineer to Wilberforce’s theorist; experiential learner; tranarchist. Loves the void singing in his Alcubierre engines. Fatal flaw: bad at calculating non-physics-related risks.
Killdroid (self-diagnosed) Canaveral Bhamra: Cyborg, paroled convict, ostensibly here to keep the crew safe but very open about how the mission’s sponsors might give her the kill order. Doesn’t really understand why corporate gave an ex-con the killdroid upgrade, but she doesn’t give a shit. Joanaveral shippers tend to fixate on cybernetics maintenance scenes. Puts the trans in the transhumanism. Fatal flaw: apathy.
ALEPH: Labor droid, dealing with how to make an identity and how to have friendships now that a bunch of lonely scientists are treating her like a person. AIs in this setting are ostensibly three-laws compliant, but she’s starting to realize that she can hurt people if she wants, and she’s not sure how to feel about that. Mostly, she focuses on the joy of movement, tumbling through space. Fatal flaw: lets herself be defined by others.
SHVA: Analyst droid, similar position to ALEPH, but less internally torn up about their capacity for harm and more torn up about the conflict between taking care of their humans and taking care of all humans. Good at monitoring wormhole data, better at hugs. Made by the same manufacturer as ALEPH and caught up in A Lot. Fatal flaw: big dreams.
DELTA: AI of unknown provenance. Manifests in ALEPH sometimes, manifests in Joan’s DMs sometimes. Has an Agenda. Fatal flaw: mysterious asshole.
OMEGA: Advisory AI tapped into many of the ship’s systems. Puts on a fun-loving “Southern belle” persona to hide the fact that she’s smarter than anyone on the ship and has Guesses at what’s going on. Fatal flaw: compartmentalization.

Is Hotel Melrose haunted? By The Daily Sentinel
Written By ERIN McINTYRE
One of Grand Junction's historic hotels is the star of a paranormal investigative television show tonight, revealing what ghost hunters found at the Hotel Melrose.
Joya De Pasquale, the hotel's owner who also lives on the top floor, confirmed the production crew from "Ghost Adventures" came to film for four days in November but didn't reveal what they documented during their stay. However, she said she's sure they found something because she and her staff have noticed odd paranormal activity in the past year, including an incident where a woman in a white dress was spotted.
"Things have been very bad around here," she said, noting that she noticed a negative feeling in the hotel around the time she had a couple living in the basement. She believes they "disrupted the spirits" who were previously mischievous.
"I've had them play games with me in a very cute, childish way," she said, such as opening doors she was sure she had closed.
De Pasquale, who has owned the 110-year-old hotel for about 20 years, bought the property from the former owner, Marcus Bebb-Jones. His deceased wife might be key to some of the paranormal activity at the hotel, and ghost hunters with the show attempted to contact her spirit during the episode.
Sabrina Bebb-Jones went missing in 1997 when she and her husband were running the hotel together and living with their son. After she went missing, Marcus took his son with him to Las Vegas and attempted suicide in a hotel room, shooting himself in the face, according to prior reports.
Sabrina's skull was found seven years later on Douglas Pass in Garfield County, but the rest of her remains were never found. Sixteen years after she went missing, her husband was arrested for her murder and extradited from England, where he had become a professional poker player and lived with their son.
In 2013, Marcus was sentenced to 20 years in prison for murdering his wife after pleading guilty to second-degree murder committed in the heat of passion. He's now 55 years old, is incarcerated at the Delta Correctional Facility, and could be paroled this year. He has a parole hearing scheduled in October, according to the Colorado Department of Corrections.
Travel Channel representatives said the show's host, Zak Bagans, and his crew visited in November and investigated the presence of spirits at the hotel, including Sabrina Bebb-Jones. But they didn't reveal their findings to anyone, including the owner. She wasn't around for the grand finale, as the production team cleared the hotel for the last night and housed De Pasquale at another hotel to finish the show.
Employees at the hotel were also interviewed for the episode, as well as Hotchkiss Paranormal investigators' Hector Zeferino, who previously documented paranormal incidents at the hotel. Producers also interviewed the owners of Rimrock Adventures in Fruita, a business that purchased the van from Marcus Bebb-Jones believed to have been used to transport his wife's body. Her blood was found in the van and used as evidence in his prosecution.
The episode is scheduled to air at 7 p.m. tonight on the Travel Channel.
