so i finished my rewatch of s1-s3 and new watch of s4-s7 of the 100 aaanddd i wanna ramble
spoilers and, from what i've gathered, unpopular opinions under the cut lmao
i watched the first three seasons in 2015-16, iirc (binged s1 and s2 on netflix; watched s3 as it aired)--i remember losing interest towards the end of s3 so i wasn't super hyped about s4 and just kinda forgot about it. on rewatch, i was also getting bored with s3, lmao. it starts off pretty strong, and the end revelation is a banger, but the last 4 eps or so just draaaggggg
i really liked seasons 4 and 5, though, with one big exception: giving clarke a daughter-figure to go all mama bear over was quite possibly one of the most obnoxious character development choices they could have given her
clarke in general is kind of a frustrating character for me because on one hand, i fuckin love a female character who does awful things for what she believes are good reasons, and that is clarke 100%
but in spite of that awesome set up, she manages to be so fucking boring
i think a lot of it is the actress' performance, tbh--the acting on the show overall generally isn't anything spectacular, but i find her particularly bad. i cant quite pinpoint my gripes, i just find her very bland
and given that the show is basically one extended trolley problem and there are dozens of characters who are also constantly put in the position of making the most difficult decisions in the universe, that just isn't enough to make her compelling
i found myself really drawn to echo in the later seasons because i am predictable af and i love a character who is loyal to a fault and bases their entire identity off being a loyal follower. i do feel like the relationship with bellamy was a little shoehorned, though. like i see the enemies to lovers potential there, but i think having most of that transition happen off-screen took all the fun from it
and i was stunned when i went looking for echo gifs to find out that most people hate her but love clarke apparently, lmao. hard opposite
s5 also delved into one of my favorite dark apocalypse tropes: what will push people to become cannibals to survive? it's always been a morbid fascination and i wasn't expecting them to get as fucked up with it as they did, but it was compelling shit
s6 had interesting elements to it--the worldbuilding/lore i think is part of the reason i got so sucked into the show, and seeing how becca's influence managed to reach a whole other planet was cool. i also liked the personality chip stuff bc it gave me ideas for valerie, haha. i also liked russel as an antagonist--love a very polite and calm villain being pushed to their limits
but i could see it was starting to lead into a setup for a whole metaphysical aspect to everything that had happened, and i just really don't like that shit
oh, also, kane and abby were my absolute favorite couple and i'm very sad they didn't get their HEA
so s7 was very meh to me. lovedlovedloved echo, dioyza, octavia, and hope getting to be badasses together, but that's about it. the transcendentalist shit was so fucking tedious, and bellamy got done dirty. and i've found myself overly fixated on the logistics of the "finalkru" situation with clarke and her buddies living on earth for the rest of their lives with no hopes of procreation or extending the human race
like at some point there's just gonna be one person remaining, right? and they have to spend their remaining days all alone? unless they do some kind of death pact? or how exactly do the transcendents ensure there are no babies? can the humans undo this? like what if they clone themselves or do in vitro fertilization? i have questions!!!
i don't mind a story ending with unanswered questions--i even really like that sometimes--but ending with a bunch of new unanswered questions is annoying lmao
plus i find the premise of finalkru surviving and maybe trying to figure out a way to continue the human race to be more interesting than 87% of the plot of s7
also two of the big themes throughout the show was never giving up hope and always seeking to rediscover their humanity after doing horrible shit--i just don't feel like this ending really tied those motifs up in a satisfying way. 99.9% of the human population no longer experiencing pain because they basically don't exist anymore feels less like a reward for Good Behavior and more... idk, just unsettling to me.
i mean, it's basically sci-fi rapture, and the whole idea of the rapture always freaked me out too lmao
i know the show is based on books, which i haven't read and don't plan to, so maybe some of this would be better explained there, but i've also seen commentary that it deviates a lot from the novels so who knows
anyway, i do like the show overall. there's a lot of juicy stuff here, but very weak ending. reminded me a bit of how i felt watching lost, actually, although not as egregious

Thoughts about Echo in the latest episode...
I think they are trying to trick us into thinking she's going down a villian path. Echo is LOYAL, she would never abandon her family! Octavia, Hope and Dioyza are apart of that family too. In my opinion, I think they are trying to make her "appear" like she's really agreeing with the Bardo-ians but the whole time she was doing it to protect everyone. For example, if she's their "star pupil, they won't expect her to betray them and she may have higher access to information and such. As well, I think the reason she sent Hope back to penance was because she knows that Octavia, Dioyza, and herself can commit to the act but that Hope is still too young and naive to do so. I think she sent her there to protect her from herself getting in trouble. Just my thoughts, what do you guys think?

Thoughts on the 100 7x06
loved seeing dioyza again as i was very concerned for her and am glad to see she is still That Bitch (also that sequence of her in the one room really frightened me)
okay so i don’t Prefer the sanctum plot but i do kinda dig the sheidheda thing ngl (it just kinda reminds me of season 3 which i actually liked i know a lot of people hated the flame stuff and i feel like yeah it went on a bit long but i just kinda like all the grounder culture and the flame was a big part of it so im kinda not learning more about sheidheda also i just kinda miss polis i liked that place it was neat)
tell me why i almost cried just hearing clarke day bellamys name
i almost Screeched at the fucking spider what the Hell that whole crawling in that tunnel thing Freaked me Out
murphy’s actually a sweetheart honestly he deserves to be happy one day my poor babie boi
ya know i also get where this convict girl be comin from her husband was a sweet man rip but also she’s fucking Crazy
the family reunion with diyoza really Got me and them all thinking bellamy is dead?? a Tragedy (would love to know where he actually is tho)
ooo that shot of the chess queen and fade into a shot of clarke??? Iconic
MY BABIE BOI LEVITT I LOVE THAT MANS SO MUCH v glad we got to see him and that face touch with him and octavia?? so tender and then that beautiful deck in the face really made it Iconic
love the idea of Madi having actual friends and also love that she and her mom are both artists
but seriously just let madi have friends and play soccer Please she Deserves it
like i get why indra needs madi and how she thinks its the only way to fix things but also i want madi to be Happy :( also lucky for indra that clarke is on another planet rn because she would Not stand for this
also Yes clarke “understands” being a child and having to lead an entire army and that’s Exactly why she Doesn’t want madi to have to carry that responsibility like she did
i feel like the cave chat with clarke and raven would’ve been a Gr8 time for raven to properly apologize to clarke but i still Loved that scene and raven admitting she was afraid while also just reminding us how fucking Strong clarke is but also how good of a person both clarke and raven are 10/10 emotional talk with my badass women
indra really fucked up for a bit and i’m So Glad madi finally said that she can’t do this because she Can’t this is an awful time for both clarke and gaia to be the gone i’m so glad jackson murphy and emori were like “hey, no, thats our niece and you can’t fuck her up like this” (especially murphy, watching him protecting children really makes my heart swell)
man emori really be in the episode for 5 minutes and just fully reminds me how much i Love her (and her and murphy together, they’re just so cute)
okay but indra Do Be powerful and as an actual Adult she should actually be leading the people instead of a fucking child
echo really be Losing it but i again do understand her action and agree that protecting levitt is Vital i wish O hadn’t said his name cuz i am sad for that poor lil old man just getting some flowers
also fuck you gabriel y’all should’ve gone you could’ve hung out there for a bit, maybe gotten a little sick idk, and then sneak back in once the panic died down a bit
i’d really love it if the gang would hold hands when walking into the bridge because i am V Scared of them getting separated through time
we still don’t know who knocked out gaia?? or if she’s okay???
also where is my boi Bellamy i Miss him Please i need to know where he is and if he’s okay also i need him to confess his love to clarke but ya know for now i’ll just take anything of him please

Semper Idem...? Chapter 10 Update!
Hello everyone! I have returned from my hiatus because Jason is making me sad! Season 6 is gonna suck! And I’m going to spend my time rewriting it!
“What do we do now, sir?” A guard asked as they surveyed the carnage before them.
“Prepare a party for tomorrow at midday. No one is to be armed,” Russel began. “Our fate will be decided then.”
It had to work.

Also Dioyza’s entire fight scene is 5x more epic when you realize: she’s approximately 5 months pregnant when it happens.
ALSO, I totally didn’t expect McCreary’s hesistation at the mention of her being pregnant with his kid. But she sure as hell did.

How... How was that the mid-season finale? The stuff with Bardo crew was cool, but like, seriously? We don't even get an update on what Raven, Miller and crew are up to? That was literally two episodes ago...

My Thoughts on the 100 7x04
hello once again we are back for me to Say things
this was a Fun Time honestly, last week’s episode was kinda boring compared to the first two but this was was Fun
first lets talk about the sky ring gang
i loved watching little hope and dev, it genuinely made me so emotional because poor baby hope spent the first 20 years of her life knowing only Three people and lost All of them and she was just so strong and brave even at 10 years old and i just loved her and dev’s relationship we love a girl with two lesbian moms and a single criminal dad
idk why but i didn’t think i’d love hoe as much as i do, but she’s fucking Gr8
and of Course i love my mans gabriel, really trynna match bellamy with that hot nerd energy
also i am someone who actually likes echo a lot of the time (although hate becho) but she made that a bit difficult this episode
she went Full Ice Nation as soon as they got on that planet from trying to manipulate orlando to help them to actually betraying him and killing all his people
now i know some people are Pissed at her about all this, but honestly, i understand why she did what she did and it makes Sense (even though its fucking Harsh)
also hope and gabriel were not Super against it all, at the beginning they were All For manipulating orlando to help them, and even in the end they obviously told echo “what the fuck stop” but i think a part of them knew that she was right and that’s why they left orlando and didn’t Really stop her from killing all of them
its still p fucked up tho, poor orlando
okay, now onto my girl Clarke who was looking Hot in this episode especially at the end??? with that leather jacket??? Spicy
i liked that little talk with her and raven, and im hoping once raven processes what she’s been doing recently she’ll get a better understanding of how bitchy she was to clarke and Hopefully there’ll be an apology scene (honestly doubt it but i can dream)
i just love clarke you guys, i love her so much, she’s just Always ready to sacrifice herself and do whatever needs to be done to protect the people she loves and she’s genuinely Kind and is just doing So Well after being through So Much
also total side note but i miss madi, we haven’t seen her since the first episode i think? idk i just love that girl
i was very stressed when they were going into the anomaly at different times because i was like what if the planet they end up on Also has fucked up times but then they were fine and i was chill but it was a valid concern
also extremely concerned that gaia got attacked and all that because 1) idk if that evil dude actually shut down the anomalies or just fucked up that one on sanctum but that is an Issue and 2) no one is gonna know where clarke and the gang went??? and everything is gonna fall into chaos?? like the only people left on the planet that we trust are madi, murphy, and emori, which is not a trio that can control all the chaos and strife that is Brewing
oh wait there’s also indra, does she know where the gang is? idk what she’s unto we didn’t see her this episode but maybe she can try to keep the planet from combusting
i’m just Really hoping we get to see bellamy next episode (although i’m sure we won’t see his reunion with clarke for at least a couple more episodes because jason Hates us)
also want to see Octavia and dioyza because we have Yet to see diyoza in non-flashbacks so??? is she alive??? is she okay??? im just Concerned a Lot

My two cents about 7x10
I kinda feel like Memori is being better parents to Madi than Clarke was ever portrayed as
Murphy and his child interaction is killing me, I really hope that Emori's prego he would be an amazing father
The Blake sisters hugging and comforting each other over Bellamy's death - I love it
Clarke's look is just killing me. She is SO hot
They killed Diozya, I can not believe it. I'm just in shock
