Farrah’s event spoilers//

Okay, so I finished her event yesterday and while I keep finding these events that don’t progress the overall story to have become bland/old, especially the events with poorer pacing and writing that feels like it treats the viewer almost like a child (basically telling everything not like an actual narrative with natural dialogue) I VERY VERY VERY much like how in the perceived good ending, Farrah finds out what her mother did and never forgives her.

As a person who grew up abused by their own mother, always hearing people say “well she’s your mother, you should forgive her” it always feels like a breath of fresh air when I see fictional characters denounce the parents that were meant to protect them, even if Farrah’s mother had good intentions she must have known eventually what was going on. There’s no excuse really otherwise. I’m glad there was the choice to look further, deeper into Farrah and her mother and find out hey, maybe this person failed terribly as a parent but didn’t really show any true effort to apologize or make up for the possible years of torture Farrah went through. There really isn’t any kind of apology that can be forgiven in that instance, and Farrah doesn’t owe a relationship or forgiveness to her mom.

I don’t know, stories that criticize bad parents has always hit very close to home, forgiving your abuser in my opinion is never a good route to go not only in a writing sense but also for my own mental health, I would never submit myself to forgiveness to make my abusers feel better about what they did to me. In short Farrah event has a decent moral perspective.

Was struck with sudden motivation after I heard about the myth of the Jiaoren and had to make a new esper OC from the game Dislyte-

This is Arlen-! A young man living in Rashina Graywater, struggling to repay his family's debt to a gang of loan sharks...Who...Have sadly been all too keen, on preying on the boy's awakening.

After all, the tears of an Jiaoren, turn into pearls.

Used and abused as their cash cow, Arlen is forced to perform on stage for the wealthy underworld elite, forced into brothels despite only having just turned 18- They milk him for every tear he can shed, and for his other...talents, the Jiaoren has given him.

Still, despite it all, he lies to his parents and tell them that he's found a lucrative job- Selling his crafts.

He just has to survive, he thinks...Just needs to wait for the storm to pass...

Then surely they can all leave this wretched town, and return to the oceanside his family dreams of.

....Right?

Here's my personal ranking of Dislyte's event stories (they're just my opinions, don't kill me plz)

I have my reasons under the cut:

The best ones: Truth Unveiled: This was the very first event I got to play that actually felt like it had effort put into it tbh. There's a lot of lore and it was really interesting Sea of Sorrow: 5 entire chapters, twists n turns, and yamato. Do I really need to say more? Inescapable Fate: FENG XUN. IS POOKIE. Ok but seriously, the pacing in this one is actually really good, and I really like Yalina The "Pretty Good" ones: Dusk and Dawn: Leora and Elaine had a pretty interesting dynamic going on Immortal Fire: Mateo and Nicholas were prob bfs at one point. I will not think otherwise. Sands of Guilt: My only pet peeve is that Tang Xuan got WAY too much screen time. It's Javid's event, let him be the main character smh Endless Summer and Warm Winter: These two tie together very well, and the ending is one of the best event endings in the entire game The "Good" ones: Dream of Redemption: The only reason this one isn't ranked higher is cuz I don't like Embla. Devouring Beast: Good for what it was, and I really like Valeria and Liam. Sea and Song: The story itself is good but Li Guang was a little annoying. But fr, let Norah and Anna be happy together ): Bemusement Park: I wanted to rank this one higher, but after thinking about it, this is the right spot. I love Mavis and Archibald a ton, but this one was really short and it felt a little rushed. The "Mid" ones: (I'm going to lump Desperado, Dreams Afar, and Evening Glimmer into one opinion cuz I feel the exact same way about all 3 events) The characters themselves are good, but their events felt short, rushed, and overall bland. It didn't really hold my attention tbh. The "Jeez, these aren't good" ones: Return Dreaming: Idk why, but I never liked Farrah. Also, this was our FOURTH event in a row at Estero Harbor, and it felt like a waste of time. I really didn't care about anything that happened. Cellblock Chaos: *inhales* I hate this one a ton, and I won't apologize for it. It somehow feels even MORE rushed than the other rushed events on this list, and I hate Jin Qiu. So many things felt bland and forgettable to me, and this felt more like fanservice for the furries than anything. Also, this whole thing took place in the Nether Gaol but Yun Chuan and Li Xiao aren't mentioned at all? HELLO? (this event was the final push that made me quit before coming back btw. really says a lot.) If you made it this far, thanks for reading! Feel free to make your own tier list and disagree with me, we all have different opinions but that's what makes things interesting

as the new year ends I would like to say thank you Dislyte fandom for giving me interesting expiriences despite the game going to shit and the new story line is fucked up. We still clinging and hanging on till this year ending. We still standing on this game despite the game aint providing us some good shit (well some of the events are worth the damned like sea and song, return. dreaming or Bemusement Park but still those are just few events that are good) we still eat it up and some.. threw it up but it's ok we still are passionate for this game so I hope the new 2024, Dislyte would give us a content that is worth a damned. so Happy Newyear dislyte fandom and you too... I was gonna make this a Shady Rambles Dislyte but I'm too tired to say anything of note lol

I really miss when Dislyte stories were like... peak, say what you want about the original story mode, but at least the event stories were really good! Stories like Truth Unveiled, Dusk and Dawn, Dream of Redemption, Sea of Sorrow... even the simpler ones like Desperado were really good! Emotional and well written stories that actually seemed like they had some effort and care put into them.

I guess I can't talk because I missed most of them, but I've been rereading the events I missed (specifically everything after Valeria's) and tbh aside from Hilda's story none of it is clicking for me rn :/ it all feels like it's lost some sort of spark that made me love the previous event stories so much

And based on the bs they just pulled with the retconned story mode, AND the steaming pile of mid that was Cellblock Chaos, they better come in hot with the next event story because rn I'm regretting my decision to return to this game

he's much the same as he appears in most verses. very tall, with a head of short, messy dark hair. except he's got two cat ears, and a split pair of tails with ghostly flames at the end, pronounced canines, and slitted pupils.

kuro gets his ability from the nekomata. a malevolent yokai from japanese folklore. these spirits have a wide array of magical abilities, and are feared for the great evils they commit on man-kind. much like the nekomata, kuro is effectively immortal, and capable of resurrecting / recovering from fatal injuries within minutes. on top of this he can also use a 'ghost flame' and, according to some witnesses, is capable of necromancy vis this strange fire. as well as possible shapeshifting, and dream walking. but those last two are just rumors. ( nekomata have insane abilities lol )

he was very faithful to the shadow decree for a time? but that was mostly due to them validating his appearance, and giving him purpose. it was nice having a place where he felt like he belonged. of course, they fed into the idea his abilities and the immortality he had was a gift. something to be used. and they used it. a lot. until kuro caught on, felt a whole lot of guilt, and vanished.

ofc, SD wouldn't just let someone leave. so kuro cut his hair, changed his appearance as best he could. hiding around a lot of the abandoned homes in grandis, despite the danger that comes with areas infested by miramon. he is by definition, a wanderer now- but does extend his help to those within the esper union. especially when he sees they're going toe to toe against the shadow decree.

he's no longer sure on how to feel about his abilities. but uses and relies on them when he has to. not apposed to finding a way to remove them from the world entirely, so things can return to relative normalcy. though... that is unlikely to happen.

he can talk to cats, and uses them to get information. it's nice having so many extra pairs of eyes to keep himself out of trouble.

the idea of officially joining the esper union has crossed his mind. but he is very afraid of being caught again by the shadow decree, and isn't sure they'd even take him. considering his history.

He couldn't sleep again.

He would check the time had he not done so twice now in the same five minute span.

Now he's sitting up, now facing a clock that barely registered as midnight. It wasn't rare if he went days without sleep even, no matter how tired his soul and body were.

Yun Chuan didn't want to admit this to anyone else in the Union, that his habit of drinking went deeper than just something he wanted to do.It was something he needed, he wouldn't sleep these days without a drink.

He swore to himself he'd stave off drinking but attempting to fall back to sleep wasn't working out at this point. It'd let him have those dreams again.

dreams of a different time, of an old flame now lost. hands cupped against his cheek , sweet nothings whispered inches from his ear .

It was wrong, this should be wrong. He knows what Xiao had done to him, yet the memory of the man who saved him, the version of xiao who cared for him chuan could never forget

He resented what he did, he also resented himself for wishing to forgive him.

At the cliffs, the temptation to stay was almost too strong for Chuan to resist. Walking away after the harm he caused by his own fists took almost every bit of willpower he had

The past seems so preferable, he wants to think he's moved on. That he's never regretted any of his decisions yet his thoughts lingered

Wishing for the dark shadow to clear over and allow them both to pick up where they left off.

Where they were happier-

He shot out of his bed to reach for where he'd hidden a stash away. The familiar burning taste of wine met him, straight from the bottle he indulged himself

It would just be a few drinks

Baiju stopped having a burning taste a long time ago, and with his transformation? Health risks were a non-issue when blessed by a diety

He doesn't remember when he last checked the clock, he's been at this for what felt like hours.

He just wants to pass out in this dorm, to retreat in his mind.

A thud met the floor after the lastest one's contents had been half emptied, its liquid contents spilling out. Chuan has since returned to his bed seated and hunched over, he reached futilely to retrieve it

His dog had awakened from his own slumber, whether on his own free will or because screamer had sensed his owner's sadness, chuan didn't have the mindset to ponder

The hound nudged the bottle away from arms reach, signalling to chuan that he'd reached a limit in its mind

The world was getting blurry, Chuan was furrowing his brows for clarity. How pathetic he looks in that moment, a hero consumed by their vices. allowing the memory of a coward to control him.

The humiliation was almost as bad as the pain he feels inside It burns up and down in his throat

The soft touch of a familiar hand began to rest on his chest, a figure sitting above him. Dream and reality no longer mattered

His eyes look up to face pools of crimson, white streaks of hair with black sprinkled in trailed down their shoulders

Yun chuan began to reciprocate by wrapping his arms around them

"Please…. Stay with me this time"

It was a desperate plea

There was no response from the figure…li xiao never responded to him

Soon ,he'd be engulfed in ghostly touches; teasing and coy . This was the part of the routine he adores the most, one moment he allows himself to surrender to the vixen

Yun chuan was holding on by a thread, a whine slipped past his lips. These touches weren't enough anymore, years of the same dream was maddening.

"Xiao …"

His voice shook, a great contrast to how he acted usually .

Xiao's careful hands guided Chuan to the edge of his bed, his back meeting with the bed frame.

Those gentle hands went to work once again, with Chuan as his puppet; the puppeteer repositioned him to his whim, allowing their legs to intertwine. Each touch by the other was heaven, pure electricity that could break down even the strongest of wills

His heart was so heavy in his chest , it was pounding so fast as well

he swore if he ever let go, xiao would be gone too. He didn't want that, he couldn't lose him again. His head buried into the crook of the other's neck, savouring every last drop of love unlimited

Chuan hated how his voice cracked as he tried to continue,detested how he stumbled over his words to profess his love even as the image of Li xiao became harder to visualise

He wants to stare into those pools of scarlet, he wants to be lost in them, this was his reality.

This is the reality he wants, the reality Yun chuan sees. He pushes down any part of himself that tries to argue

And now just to cement his reality, he begs for a response. Anything to be given back, his eyes looked on in awe and expectedly

And was met with nothing

Xiao's form was loosening and in distress, Yun chuan scrambled to keep it together, to salvage his reality.

Nonononono not again

He can't go back

'i can't go back '

Not this again

Please

He begs for him to stay again

He makes promises he can't keep

Nothing works

Nothing ever convinces him to stay

….

It was all blank space

His arms were wrapped around air and only air

A dream

A dream he lost once again, just as he lost the previous one , always just out of reach.

Shame creeped up on him.He couldn't help the tears that gathered at the corners of his eyes and slid down his cheeks in an endless stream.

A nudge…Chuan didn't want to look up, whimpering from screamer was hardly registered.

He really was pathetic, he tore his eyes away from the hound. Chuan wished not to fall back asleep again with the knowledge that even his dog knew he was hurting

In reality, he'd curled up in his bed, Holding onto himself, for a false recreation of what could have been.
