DCxDP Week 2023 Day 1
Day 1: John Constantine | Found Family | Oops
Continued in Day Two
John opened the door to the House of Mystery, ready to stumble over to the beaten-up couch in the living room and knock out for the next couple of hours. Unfortunately, it was occupied.
“Billy, who’s this?” John asked, pointing at the black-haired tyke he didn’t recognize. Billy barely managed to peel his eyes away from the telly.
“Oh, this is Dani.” He went quiet, engrossed in staring at the static snow dancing across the screen.
John settled himself down on the other side of Billy, looking at the telly himself.
“I helped him out with a thing,” the girl offered. She had considerably less trouble than Billy looking away from the telly.
“A thing?”
“A demon, I think. Doesn’t matter to me, just kick their butt all the same.”
John looked at her for a quiet moment, before nodding. “Makes enough sense to me. I’m headed up to bed. Make sure Billy doesn’t stay up too late watching the football match or whatever you’ve got on there.”
He stood, stretched, and left the room. He could feel the weight of Dani’s eyes on his back until he was out of sight.
When he woke up the next morning, Billy was sound asleep in bed. Dani was gone.
She showed back up in his kitchen about two days later, munching on his Bat-O’s.
“Looking for Billy?” John asked.
“Uah.” She said, mouth full of cereal. John made his own bowl.
“He’s off-world. Got a mission.”
“Oh. I was hoping to get some help with this.” She plopped a really, really cursed amulet on the kitchen counter between them.
John sighed. “Can this please wait until after coffee? I’ll show you where we put the evil necklaces after.”
Dani let out a small gasp “necklace jail for naughty necklaces…” before returning to her cereal.
The girl does have the decency to let John finish his coffee. She’s also kind enough not to comment on the absolute mess that is their “artifact jail” as she put it.  After depositing the necklace, she walks with John back to the entrance, where she pauses, before turning to look at him.
“I really like House. She’s very welcoming.” She says, before leaving.
There’s a weight to her words that reveals that she means something far more than just what she said. However, John’s JLD pager has been going off for the past 5 minutes, so he figures whatever she meant is a problem for future John.
He doesn’t see her for a few months, and almost forgets about her. He’s on his way home from the pub, trudging through the filthy snow and trying to ignore the Christmas music blaring out of the stores. He pushes past couples and groups, heading out on his own. There’s a display of tellies, blaring some ad from some American mogul about the morals of the holiday and why they mean you should spend money on his company.
His eyes are drawn to a small figure staring at the TVs solemnly. He’s about to continue on his way, not wanting to get involved, but blue eyes snap to his.
“Er…Darla was it?”
“Dani, Mr. Constantine”
They’re silent for a bit, watching each other. Dani has clearly been crying, but John figures she doesn’t want attention brought to it.
“Enjoying the holiday?” he settles on.
She glances at the telly, watching the ad for VladCo drone on.
“My brother hates Christmas” she says, before going quiet again. John’s getting cold, even if Dani doesn’t seem to be suffering from it.
“It’s bloody freezing out here. Come on, let’s go to House where it’s warm and I have some cocoa.”
After he invited her back, she tended to come by more. She always came with an excuse, whether it was an artifact she thought would be safer with him, or looking for research materials. He was pretty sure she usually came to either hang out with Billy or him, even if it’d be just sitting together in silence.
Billy asked if John was planning on inviting Dani to stay permanently, then showed him a new room that popped up in House. John’s first thought was of what Dani told him so long ago.
His second thought was that it wouldn’t be bad to have her move in. If she wanted of course.
John was having trouble bringing it up to her, despite Billy’s needling. Everytime he started, he chickened out. Even now, they were sitting on the couch together, and Dani was regaling him about an adventure she had in Egypt involving a sentient cat statue, some pompous anthropologist, and a papaya. He was trying to pay attention, but was too busy stressing out about asking if she’d want the room.
“--You should have seen his face, Dad! He didn’t even see that coming!” She laughed, loud and hearty. John tensed. She petered off when she realized he wasn’t laughing with her.
“John?”
“...you called me ‘Dad’”...”
Her face paled. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean… of course you wouldn’t–” John put his hand on her head, trying to stop her freakout.
“Dani, I wanted to ask–”
She burst into tears before he could continue. “It’s just, my dad didn’t want me, so why would you? I’m just a failed copy–” John pulled her into a hug, rubbing her back in an attempt to soothe her.
“Dani, it’s fine. Hey, it’s fine. “ He just kept repeating that until she stopped sobbing and hugged him back. After a few beats when it looked like she wasn’t going to stir, he took a look to find she had cried herself to sleep. Figuring there was nothing else for it, he scooped her up, and tucked her in the bed in the room House had made for her.
He stayed up through the night and into the morning, too worried Dani would wake up and decide to leave. Then he’d have to expend a lot of energy to track her down. Thankfully, it didn’t come to that. She trudged down the stairs after Billy, who had come home late last night.
The two made an odd sight, Billy clearly ecstatic that Dani had stayed, and Dani looking nervous, and at anything but Constantine.
John pointed at the table. “Sit, I’ll make us some bangers and eggs.”
They sat, and thankfully Billy took pity on John and broke the silence. “How did you like your room? House made it forever ago! Uncle John’s just been too much of a coward to let you know before.”
Dani cautiously answered his questions, and the two fell in to their own conversation while John finished making breakfast and served everyone.
After they finished breakfast, Billy swept up everyone’s dishes, and out the door. “Bye Uncle John, Bye Dani! I’ll see you after monitor duty!”
John and Dani sat in silence for a bit, while she picked at a notch in the table. John took a swig of coffee, wishing it was something a bit stronger.
“My mum died giving birth to me. Growing up, my da did not let me forget that her life was on my hands. It was a shit upbringing, and it burns me to think about. Took Lucifer Morningstar giving him a talking to before anything changed. But despite all that, my da’s issues with me and my birth say nothing of my worth as a person.”
Dani was looking at him now, taking his words in. She scrunched her nose a bit, before breaking into a smile. “You know Lucifer?”
John snorts. “Yeah. Lovely bloke. Likes divesting people of their kidneys.”
She laughed at that, before quieting down. She glanced at him, then back at the table. She took a deep breath in.
“My dad’s name is Vlad Masters…”
“Okay, you can come in my house, but don’t touch anything you don’t recognize. The whole house is magic, and you don't have a good track record with it.” John said, opening the door to the House of Mystery.
Batman and the Flash came in after him. “How long will it take you to find the information on what’s threatening the Watchtower?” Flash asked
John pointed at the couch, indicating they should sit. Almost by habit, he disregarded Dani, who was sitting in the uglier armchair with a bowl of popcorn, watching her static-show again.
Neither Batman nor Flash moved to sit on the couch, both staring at Dani.
“Why’s there a kid here?” Flash asked, waving a hand to indicate Dani.
“It’s called the House of Mystery, lot of mysteries here.” John muttered. Dani immediately followed up with “You’re just jealous because I was willingly invited, you whore.”
She threw a piece of popcorn at Batman, who just stared at her.
“Don’t try to fistfight either of them, Dani. You two– wait here and I’ll bring the research materials.”
John quickly found all the books that might pertain to space vampires, before returning to the living room. The static program had been switched to a documentary on the Nazca Lines, and now Dani was chucking popcorn pieces at Flash, who was catching them in his mouth.
He plopped the books he found on the wobbly coffee table, and Batman pulled out the photo taken from the Watchtower security tapes.
Dani peered over his shoulder. In a small voice, she said “That’s Vlad…”
John glared warningly at Batman and Flash, before softening his glance and looking at Dani. “You sure?”
She nodded, sticking close to John’s back.
John turned to Batman and Flash. “Looks like he’s a ghost. Current Watchtower defenses should be able to keep him out, but if you don’t mind, I think I’d like to add something a little extra to make sure the bas-punk’s life is a little worse.”
Batman looked at John for a moment, before taking a quick glance at Dani. “When you have the defenses prepared, let me know. I’ll meet you on the Watchtower so we can get everything installed.”
------
A/N:
Got a bit tired at the end here, thinking about continuing it with another of the days. But in any case, just left it open-ended for more Constantine + Dani shenanigans.

DPxDC Week 2023 - Day 7
Rating: Teen
Summary:
As Clockwork's Apprentice, Danny has the means to look at all the alternate timelines and universes. This is what he finds.| Prompts: Clockwork | Accidental Baby Acquisition | Misunderstandings
Excerpt:
Danny remembered the days when he used to only visit Long Now occasionally. It was so strange to think of those times now that he had started living in the Ancient’s lair full time. He couldn’t remember how long he had stayed here, how long ago he had taken up Clockwork’s offer of apprenticeship. It was hard to tell when he had long stopped aging thanks to the high concentration of ectoplasm surrounding him. Danny couldn’t look into any mirrors either, when the only mirrors here served another purpose. He floated through the halls with muscle memory, humming a soft tune to himself. Clockwork wasn’t in today, probably meeting with some of the other Ancients. Or perhaps bothering some poor soul to get a little entertainment in. Danny was starting to understand why Clockwork liked to talk so cryptically; it was awfully fun to mess with people, and when you’re immortal, you have to get your kicks in somewhere.

"Are you Stephanie Brown?" the teen asked, his voice hoarse as if he hadn't spoken in a long time.
"I am...Who are you?"
The teen seemed to curl inward at her confirmation, eyes darting everywhere else as he rubbed the back of his neck. "My name's Danny. Danny Fenton. And I'm—" he stopped, looking more nervous than ever.
Steph's suspicion deepened. Even though she had never seen this teen before, there was something about him that was familiar—
"—And I'm your son."
Steph froze, ice crashing through her veins. Her mind flashed back fifteen years ago when she gave away her baby as she was first starting out as a vigilante. Knowing that her child would be better and safer elsewhere. Away from her.
“What?”
The teen let out a nervous chuckle. “Hi, Mom." And it sounded so awkward for him to call her that.

Monsters at Your Doorstep
DPxDC Week Day 3: Tim Drake / Eldritch Danny / Teeth
Read on AO3 [here]
Summary: Bruce falls into a cave of bats and meets the darkness-- or whatever it is that lives inside it.
///////
WHEN BRUCE IS SEVEN THE GROUND SWALLOWS HIM WHOLE.  The earth beneath the sacred grounds of Wayne Manor crumbled with one hasty misstep, taking him far away from the sunlight’s reach.
The bats swarmed at him immediately. A thousand eyes, a thousand screeching mouths, a thousand beating wings, engulfing him in their fury. His screams are drowned out by their cries. His skin cut and scraped by their claws. His ears bursting with the sound of their unholy cry. And for the first time in his life, Bruce learns what it means to fear.
And then the bats just stop.
He did not know what scared him more: the bats, or the silence.
Bruce craned his head up from beneath his arms. Darkness met his gaze. A deep and impenetrable dark, deceptive in its shadows. He stumbles back and slowly, ever so slowly like a deer caught in the crosshairs, shuffles himself towards that slim shaft of light in the cavern. He bites his tongue when the soft flesh of his palm cuts itself on a rock.
The cut weeps a deep carmine red down his wrist as he holds his hand up into the light.
Suddenly, the darkness spoke.
“Are you hurt?”
The darkness sounds oddly young to Bruce’s ears. Older than Bruce, but nowhere near as deep as his father’s, nor as rich as his mother’s. (But there is a sound there that isn’t registering in Bruce’s young mind. A sound that dances just beneath the facade of a boyish voice.)
Bruce calls out— “Hello?” —flinching at the cacophony of echoes repeating his words back at him.
A beat of stillness. Something shifts in the darkness— no, that isn’t…that isn’t right. It’s more like the darkness itself shifted. The edges of the shadows moved as if it were fabric, all too tangible.
“Hello,” the darkness said again.
Bruce steeled his nerves with a shaky inhale. “Can you help me?” He points up to the crack of blue sky. “I— I fell. I need to get back up.”
There is a sounds that feels almost like the cross between a slither and a thousand whispers. Unintelligible words building in a rising crescendo, echoing all around him and overwhelming his senses and he cannot think he cannot think he cannot think he cannot hear himself at all—
The darkness spoke, and all at once silence reigned supreme once more. “You…want my help?”
Bruce swallows the lump in his throat. “Yes?” He tacks on the ‘please’ as an afterthought.
“You want my help,” the voice echoes (and echoes and echoes and echoes—).
“Will you?”
“Yes.” the darkness answered less than a second after Bruce spoke. Eager. Giddy. Almost desperate. “It’s been a while since someone needed me. Close your eyes.”
“What—?”
Something pries its way from the darkness. It’s—
It’s—
(Even decades down the line, Bruce is never able to describe what he saw that day. There are simply no words, no method in all of living time and history to describe the incomprehensible. What parts he can explain hold no candle to the truth. They are but ghosts— imagos of the creature that he laid eyes upon that day. A shock of what might have been bone white hair. A glimpse of eyes—two, four, eight, twelve—that could have been green. A gaping maw that stretched itself into a grin. Nothingness, the void, where the legs might have been. The parts of a boy that came together all right and all wrong.)
Bruce shuts his eyes. Tight.
When he opens them again, he is back on the surface. In the sunlight. Bright and warm and safe. He turns to run back to the arms of his mother, when a whisper—whispers—invade the depths of his mind.
Call me if you need me.
***
Bruce never has to call. The creature—whatever it is—always lingered nearby ever since that day. There was a loneliness to it that tugged at his heart strings, and despite all the warnings that the little Alfred inside his head says, he invites the creature to play.
Initial fears aside, Bruce delights in this new friend that he’s made. It’s a secret that’s his and his alone, and he relishes in that fact.
The creature is like no one else. It summons ice and fire and makes the elements take shape into something beautiful. With a touch of its shadowy hands, he can make trees and walls disappear at will. Once, it made the ceiling of Bruce’s room invisible and mapped out each constellation with depth and passion unmatched. And now, when Bruce looked at the night sky, it was no longer just a cluster of stars that he saw, but an infinite mural of rich pictures, stories of myths and legends come alive and preserved in starlight.
It’s a shame that a creature that loved the sky so much would spend most of its time underground.
“It would scare you if I was out in the daylight,” the creature said.
“But you’re already scary right now!”
“It’s not like I want to be.”
Bruce bounced the ball into the little void in the corner of his room. The darkness shifted, moved, and tossed the ball back. “But at least you won’t have to leave every time the sun comes up.”
The shadow laughs (at least Bruce thinks it’s a laugh, it’s more like static, a harsh buzzing sounds that jumps in frequencies like the tuning of an old radio). “Maybe one day. It’s not pretty, but if that’s something you want then I will.”
“That’s a promise.”
***
There’s shouting and arguing, and his father has his hands up and that nervous smile on his face but the stranger is mad, is madmadmad. Bruce’s mother hides him behind her back and tells him to cover his ears. Don’t look. Everything will be alright. Close your eyes. Don’t look. Your father will handle this, everything is alright.
The man keeps telling them to shut up shut up and hand them over— hand what over? He shouldn’t be listening, he knows, his mother said not to, but Bruce is a curious child and he’s scared and he wants to know what is going on—
BANG—
His eyes shot open.
BANG—
There was—
The  man—
His father—
Mother—
***
Bruce screams without uttering a sound. He screams and he wails, the sound locked inside his mind because he can’t— he can’t remember how to open his mouth. How to work his throat. How to, how to breathe—
His parents need help. There’s a hole in his father’s shirt. A bright red stain on his other’s dress. Her pearls are— she loves those pearls, she’ll be so sad if they’re lost and—
Mother’s glass eyes stare back. Unblinking.
Father’s chest doesn’t rise or fall. Silent.
Bruce’s fingertips are stained red, his cupped hands overflowing with pearls.
***
Bruce calls for the darkness. Calls for the creature that existed inside it. He doesn’t know its name. Doubts if it even has one. But he calls, prays, wishes with all his might that it would come.
And it did.
There is a shift in the darkness of the alley. The shadows seem deeper, fuller almost; alive in the way the darkness was alive in that cave. It moved, gathering like a blanket over Bruce’s shaking frame, shrouding his vision in a haze.
Its mournful crooning echoed in his ears, a thousand voices crying aloud as one when he could not muster the strength to. “You shouldn’t see this,” the voice quivered as he spoke, as if familiar with the pain. “No child should see this.”
You’re here.
“Of course I am. You needed me.”
Please.
“Yes?”
Please don’t leave me alone.
The shadows envelop him tighter and Bruce clings to them like a lifeline.
“I won’t. You know I won’t. I’ll keep you safe.”
***
The darkness stays with Bruce that night, keeping silent vigil over Bruce in his room as he mourns. When the first rays of daylight began to bleed between the cracks of the curtains, Bruce panics. He feels the creature’s form try to recede back into the cracks and crevices of his room. Feels the room suddenly become bigger and emptier and alone-alone-alone.
His hand shoots out to grab at those tangible threads of darkness. “You can’t— you can’t go.”
The creature croons sadly. “You know I have to.”
“But you promised me. You promised.”
“You know I’ll be back.”
“No. Even during the day. You said— you said you could do it. You would do it, if I asked.”
The shadows ripple and sway, slowly as if in contemplation. Uncertainty hung thick in the air like the heavy pendulum of the great grandfather clock in the library. Bruce held onto his breath, watching and waiting to see where the creature’s choices would swing.
Finally, the shadows stilled. “You’ll see me tomorrow then.”
His heart sank. “You’re leaving?”
“Not for long,” it said. “I need…I need to get something. It’ll take some time, but once I get it then tomorrow, tomorrow morning even, I’ll see you.”
“And you’ll stay.”
“And I’ll stay. For as long as you need me.”
Reluctantly, Bruce lets go. The darkness disappears and light engulfs the room.
The sunlight has never felt so cold.
***
At dawn the next day, a boy appears on the steps of Wayne Manor.
He’s young, though not as young as Bruce, but his hair is just as black and his eyes and even paler shade of blue. He’s tall and gaunt with skin as thin as paper and as white as bone, lips tinged a deathly blue. There are holes in his ratty shirt and mud staining his shoes. When he moves, it isn’t in any way that is natural. Like a puppet loose from its strings, or a person that’s forgotten how to walk, learning how legs work again.
He smells of wet earth, the bitter cold, and the moment when autumn leaves begin to rot.
The boy was unnatural, unexplainable, and terrifying.
But the warmth in his voice—and the twisting shadows beneath his feet—were all too familiar to Bruce.
“You’re here,” Bruce gasped, running to embrace the creature even as Alfred yelled at him to stop.
The creature caught him, stick-thin arms deceptively strong. “To stay, if you want.”
“Of course!” It would be difficult to explain to Alfred, or the police, or the hundreds of people that came knocking to his home. Bruce will find a way, though. As long as he can keep his friend and keep Alfred by his side, as long as he isn’t alone, then he’ll do anything.
Alfred clears his throat, yanking Bruce away from the creature. “It appears, sir, that I was not informed that we were to have any visitors today.” There’s a hard edge to Alfred’ voice that Bruce has never heard before. Something dangerous. Something scared. “May I inquire as to your name and purpose here?”
The creature tilts his head so quickly Bruce hears something crack. And when he holds out his hand, Bruce could see the heavy layers of dirt beneath his chipped fingernails. Coupled in his appearance, it almost seemed like the creatures spent the entire night out digging.
“I’m here because Bruce said he needs me.” Its smile was too wide and too sharp; unnerving despite its attempts to look friendly. “You can just call me Danny.”

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Danny Phantom, Batman - All Media Types Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Danny Fenton & Wulf Characters: Danny Fenton, Wulf (Danny Phantom), Bruce Wayne, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne, Robin (DCU), Red Robin (DCU), Batman (DCU), Ra's al Ghul Additional Tags: Portals, Ghost King Danny Fenton, Comedy of Errors, DPxDC WEEK 2022, Time Travel, dp/dc week 2022, Swearing
Summary:
Okay, so Danny’s first attempt at a portal isn’t what one would call a success.
Unfortunately, instead of opening into a relatively safe (if incredibly underwhelming) cave, it splits a hole right into a great ocean of ectoplasm in the Ghost Zone, which promptly begins to flood the space around them.
It’s up to their ankles in seconds as gallons of foaming green water surge through the opening, with a thundering roar like waves crashing upon the shore.
“Uh…” Both he and Wulf just stare, watching with wide eyes as the day just gets worse and worse.
“Wulf!” Knocking himself out of his trance, Danny turns towards him and flaps his arms in panic. Oh, shit! This isn’t good! There’s no way this amount of ectoplasm in the material world is healthy, he’s going to be in so much trouble! What the hell are they meant to do? “Help!”

Danny is about to be kidnapped in Gotham This is not a good time.
He's studying for the SAT, he's already been kidnapped by Vlad like, four times that week and it was a fucking Tuesday, he forgot his wallet at his new apartment, locked himself out of said new apartment (he could phase through the door but that wasn't the point), he's just been informed that the grant he applied for was denied so he needs to ask his mom and dad for college funds when he'd already told them he had it covered, and just...it was shit.
It had been shit. The entire week had been awful and annoying and he was ready to either murder everyone on the planet or go find a corner to cry in for the next three days.
So when the band of wild goons working for whatever villain of the week pulled up and tried to kidnap him, he snapped.
He used them to vent.
Shouted about how terrible his day had been, how terrible his week had been, how he'd already been kidnapped by his creepy godfather who was way too into him, how college funding was shit and the grant system was rigged, and how he'd have to call a locksmith or break down the door to his own apartment if he wanted to go to bed-all of it. He unloaded all of his frustration.
The goons actually backed off.
One of them gave him an awkward side hug and told him it'd get better.
Danny wasn't paying attention to his surrounding. He doesn't realize that the whole thing was livestreamed.
So when he gets home to his apartment later that day, his door is opened for him by the vigilante Spoiler before he can even turn intangible.
She brought over BatBurger and kidnapped Bruce Wayne, Gotham's bumbling Prince, to talk about college grants.

The bats have so many folks around, even if they aren't always working together. Enough that folks like to joke/write about Danny just kinda showing up acting like he already lives there. He just kinda blends in.
I'd love to see more magic motivated versions of this. Some kind of spell that affects the bat's perceptions of the past and present, making them actually miss that this boy wasn't with their family too long ago. Maybe it changes their understanding like it's a time line shift, maybe it fogs their mind just a tad and makes them glaze past something like it wasn't even there. I like the second if only because I feel like that would make it more likely for the bats to realize a spell was a foot.
Imagining this from Danny's side, hes terrified this whole time of getting found out. He knows how and when he showed up here and maybe even how flimsy whatever magic is in place is. Imagining a Desiree wish that was either very carefully worded or Not so carefully worded. Maybe he placed himself with the Wayne family with the expectation that he would quietly mooch of some rich idiot until he was ready to be on his own. Or maybe he wished himself to be a part of the batclan, taking up a mask and patroling with them as a bird that Doesn't Exist.
Ofc eventually the spell has to be broken, leaving the bats confused worried scared angry probably even amused, and a billion other things. WHY did this teenager decide to adopt himself into the Wayne/bat family? Who the hell is he and where did he come from. Someone call Zatanna, there is some magic Fuckery going on.

Thinking about the untapped comedic potential of the Batfam explaining to new hero in Gotham & literal ghost Phantom that they don't kill people.
And Danny, professional menace, responding with "What? You guys have a problem with dead people or something?" In the most serious, insulted voice he can manage just to watch them squirm.
(Jason is having a great time)

DCxDP Week 2023 Day 2
Day 2: Danny Fenton | Full Hazmat AU | Fear Gas
Continuation of Day One
John was bored out of his mind, but he needed to pretend to be paying attention as whichever Green Lantern this was droned on and on about something Constantine didn’t care about. The Bat had been after him more often, asking him questions about Dani ever since they met in the House. John wasn’t exactly down with Batman investigating his kid, so he took to escaping as soon as the opportunity arose. Unfortunately, this just led to Batman trying to find him everytime John was in the vicinity.
The Green Lantern stopped for a questions, and John was ready to breathe a sigh of relief that it was almost over, when alarms started going off.
“Ecto-entity detected approaching Watchtower. Readying offensive measures.”
Batman pulled up the monitors, and John immediately recognized Dani in her ghost form.
“Shut down the counter-measures!” he shouted, Batman immediately backing him up to Flash, who turned them off. John and Batman rushed to one of the rooms with windows, hoping Dani would get the message and meet them where they were visible, ignoring whether or not the rest of the Justice League followed.
As hoped, Dani phased through the window and rushed towards John.
“Dad! Dad! It’s Danny! He hasn’t been answering his phone, so I went to Metropolis to see Jazz, but she hadn’t heard from him either! So she’s going to Amity to see if she can figure out what’s going on and I thought, well maybe we need an adultier-adult but you’re the adultiest adult I know who can help!” Dani sucked in a huge breath when she had finished getting her words out in a rush.
“Alright, alright, I’ll head over there right away to look for your brother. But, I want you to stay out of there, love do you hear me? I know you’d want to help your brother, but if something’s gone topsy-turvy in a ghost way we need you to keep your distance so you’re safe, yeah?”
“She can stay up here.” Batman grunted. “I’ll go with you, and we can keep her updated.”
Dani looked hesitantly over at the other heroes before looking back at Batman. “You’ll give me updates the whole time?”
“Hmm” Batman grunted, giving her a slight nod.
“Ok…”
Seeing she was prepared to stay at the Watchtower, John turned to Batman. “Let me get some anti-overshadowing spells on you, just in case, then we can head out.”
“I got eyes on the last lab technician, looks like he’s just about to leave and then we should just have to worry about the guards.” Red Robin reported to his teammates. Impulse was bouncing around impatiently, while Superboy was using his enhanced vision to keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. Wonder Girl was sitting closer to their chosen entrance, keeping an eye out for anyone who might spot them when they enter.
They had been casing out the DEO facility ever since Secret told them she suspected they were holding an entity hostage again. She had sat this mission out, but the rest were ready to get the drop on the facility tonight and rescue anyone that might be being held captive, as well as figure out which organization the DEO was apparently collaborating with.
The group began sneaking their way towards Wonder Girly, who was now holding the roof-paneling up. They dropped down into the empty warehouse’s rafters, keeping silent so as not to alert the guards that were patrolling the inside.
“There, far corner, just like RR said,” Impulse pointed to a door that was guarded by two men. Every other guard was occupied with patrolling the warehouse. The team steadily made their way towards the door, keeping quiet, but moving quickly.
Once they reached the door, Red Robin noticed a grate at the same level as the rafters, which seemed to lead directly into the next room. He silently pointed it out to his teammates, who exchanged confused looks with each other. They decided to risk it anyway, if it meant they could avoid having to take out the guards at the door.
The crawled through, and landed in front of a containment unit filled with gas. Red Robin and Impulse immediately headed towards the computers to get any information they could about what was going on, while Superboy and Wonder Girl took a look around the rest of the lab to figure out if they could find whoever Secret told them about.
Red Robin finally spoke, breaking the quiet. “It looks like they were experimenting with the effects of fear gas on…something. I think I can siphon the fear gas on the containment unit.
“Well, do it.” Wonder Girl said, as she and Superboy turned to face the containment unit.
Red Robin clicked a couple buttons, and the four teens gathered around to watch the gas siphon out of the containment unit, revealing a small figure lying prone on the floor.
“I think it should be safe to go in now.” Red Robin said. Impulse and Superboy were already figuring out how to get the chamber open. As soon as the door opened, Wonder Girl and Superboy approached to pick up the child.
He had white hair, and they could see green lights below his eyelids, though they never opened. His breathing was shallow, and his heartbeat slow.
“He’s so tiny… He can’t be older than 5 or 6.” Superboy said, making sure he was settled properly in Wonder Girl’s arms.
“Let’s get out of here, quickly. I’ll set charges to blow up everything, and Impulse can help me get out.” Red Robin said, indicating the vent again.
“On it.” Superboy and Wonder Girl crawled through the vent again, making their way across the rafters to their initial entry point. Red Robin and Impulse followed soon after, and they left together as a team.
When they were a few rooftops away, Red Robin triggered the charges, and they watched the facility go up in flames.
“Mmmm… Where a’ I..?” They turned to face the kid, who was staring at them sleepily.
“Hey, you’re alright. You’re safe now.” Superboy told him. The boy didn’t seem to register the words, and fell back asleep.
“We should get him back to the Watchtower now.” Wonder Girl said. The team quickly made their way to the zeta tubes, and to the medical section, where the boy was taken for observation.
Secret approached them as they were watching the medical team take stock of the boy. “Thanks,” she said. They all turned in silence, to watch as doctors and nurses rushed around, taking the boy's vitals.
“Of course.”
A/N:
Was more tired than I though, lol, took way longer than expected to finish this.
Still hoping to get at least one more day's prompts in to continue this, but don't know if I'll continue using dpxdc week prompts to finish the story

DPxDC Week 2023 - Day 3
Rating: Mature
Summary:
Tim can't bring himself to lie about his secret identity anymore. When he spills his secret to his boyfriend, Danny, many more secrets are soon to follow. Some with interesting results. Prompts: Tim Drake | Eldritch Danny | Teeth
Excerpt:
Tim was very proud to say his boyfriend was a hot piece of ass. With an effortless woke-up-this-sexy haircut and mischievous blue eyes, Danny looked better suited for the front magazine covers than Tim did, even in his Versace and Louis Vuitton, or whatever other luxury brands the young CEO of Wayne Enterprise was expected to dress in. Of course, he might be a touch biased in that regard. Danny was his boyfriend; it was only right that Tim thought he was the hottest piece of ass to ever exist. And yes, he would fight Dick Grayson’s stans on that one watch him.
THIS IS YOUR REGULAR REMINDER TO READ THE TAGS BEFORE PROCEEDING. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. YOU ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Loving Threats
Inspired by a song and its remake. But I am trash at syncing lyrics to storybeats.
Danny and Jason met in the ghost zone when Jason was dead, but he forgot it all coming back to life. When the two of them were together, they went through the entire song and dance (literally) of asking each other out.
I'm serious. There were like 10 different musical scenes with varying themes. It was Fenton Romance at its finest. And Jason's old school romance heart was certainly played a large part too.
It was their love language. Dramatic acts, vague threats and all.
Post revival and reconnection with the Batfam, Jason spots a familiar face. A flood of memories wash through him, and with it a bout of giddiness. Though he's currently dressed as Red Hood, Danny'll be able to tell who he is and keep quiet. Just have to greet him in a way that he'll recognize.
---
Danny is out taking the kids for a walk. Dan was grumpy since he wasn't allowed any ecto chips, for both his health and as punishment for severely beating a guy who tried to mug Danny without permission yesterday. Ellie is quite cheerful, since she's going to visit the Crocodile and Zombie sewer-dudes when Danny's not looking.
All of a sudden, Red Hood, casually wielding a gun, approaches Danny. He makes an overly familiar gesture, wrapping an arm sideways around Danny's waist. He whistles under the hood, a faint green glow from the white eyespaces.
"Well who do we have here? You look half dead, honey."
Danny looked at him. Horrible pick up line? Check? Thin veneer of confidence? Check. Zero self control around Danny? Check.
Jason. The rancid ecto signature is new, though. Honestly, not surprised he's a crime lord now.
"Well, you know how it is. The kids have been running me ragged. And you sure haven't been any help."
Danny puts on an innocent smile. Jason sidles closer. A few bystanders watch them with varied expressions.
"Well you don't need to worry about that now. How about you and I go somewhere more private?"
---
"A crime boss, huh?"
Dan is raiding the fridge. Ellie is watching a fight on TV.
"It was a... necessary step. I promise I would've visited you sooner if I had known."
"It's fine. What else happened while you were gone?"
"Well..."
