Turtle Tots pt 4

Part 4

You guys chose to stay with Raph. He needs comfort and single dad Splinter is here to help... try to help. :) This part with Raph and Splinter is meant to be 2 more pages long but I had to split it up.

Once again you guys get to choose the next update: to hug Raph OR replace the broken picture frame.

It was brought to my attention that the voting on the previous page was too unfair with 1 reblog (stay with Raph) vs 10 likes (follow the smell of "cookies"). For this page, I have adjusted the proportions of reblogs vs likes so that it is hopefully more fair this time. I tried to use Tumblr polls but the polls are time based and don't give me what I want which is threshold based. Also, someone (I won't name anybody) reblogged the previous page 10 times. I'm sure it was an accident but it still made me laugh. :)

Keep reading for my mini rambling about Splinter for this comic.

The show depicted Splinter as being lazy and neglectful during the brothers' teenage years especially during the beginning of the show. Gradually he improves later in the show as he tries to teach his kids survival techniques (even though they never left the garage), ninja tactics, and even how to survive life without their phones.

During the turtle tot years, I think that Splinter was a good father, not a perfect father nor a great father, but still an overall good father who tried his best to raise 4 rowdy mutant kids in the sewers as a sudden single parent. He didn't exactly have the best parent role models growing up. Not only did he lose his mother and was weighed down by the enormous responsibility of keeping the world safe from the Shredder's potential return (before he left the Hamato clan to become Lou Jitsu), nothing he was taught or trained for or learned to do when he was still human could have prepared him for life after his mutation. He had no support system (unable to interact with people as a rat mutant, no other family or friends, and betrayed by his love interest Big Mama). Splinter had very little resources to work with but his sons still were able to learn morals and values which you typically learn from and with other people or in this case the few people living in the sewers (Splinter himself, characters in Lou Jitsu/Jupiter Jim movies/shows, and other substitutes in place of interacting with people outside the sewers.) Splinter doesn't always say or do the right things and his parenting skills could use A LOT of work but he genuinely loves his sons and does his best to raise them in his own way using his own past experiences and you readers reading this comic to help him.

Much to Donnie's dismay, you guys chose for the oven to survive.

Because of life changes distracting me from checking Tumblr as often, I've changed the rules for the next update. If both reblog and like thresholds are reached within 2-3 days of each other, then both options will occur for the next update. Otherwise, only one option will occur. :)

Bonus story page, if someone correctly guesses what RotTMNT episode the Donastinguisher is from. :)

Raph and Donnie have entered the scene. Donnie has no inhibitions without Leo.

Mikey is consumed by grief at the moment and is very quick to say harsh things and make drastic decisions. Also, if someone broke down my door and ruined my room I'd probably act very similarly while I was in the middle of something important.

I wanted to upload this in webcomic format as basically one long picture but Tumblr doesn't like that. I'm debating on changing it to a regular comic format.
