Disney Dreamlight Valley: Dapper Wall-e Bundle
Tumblr media
I went ahead and bought the Wall-e Bundle to see if it was worth the 4,000 moonstones ($20 USD if you have no moonstones and must purchase them).
I finished the 4 quests in about a day (*Note: I DO NOT time travel in the game at all).
The quests weren't too time consuming to complete.
Rewards included a box of goodies (building materials, coins, etc), trash lid hat, an outfit for Wall-e, a boot plant, and a male and female outfit with hat.

Do I feel it's worth the price? I personally think 2,500 moonstones would be fine ($10 cost to buy moonstones). I also think the premium shop is priced a little high as well. I don't mind paying for items in a game if I feel they are appropriately priced.

Nintendo Switch: Disney Dreamlight Valley
This game came on my radar from some smart early marketing. It came with the brief description of “Disney Sim like game”. Disney, in my opinion classic disney, is perfect. Sims, god I have not played that in years (I think the last time I played it was on game cube, and I don’t PC gamer as I work on my PC). But then as more gamers got to do “early release reviews” it got on the radar of Stardew and Animal Crossing fans. Let’s look at the game:
Tumblr media
Once an idyllic land, Dreamlight Valley was a place where Disney and Pixar characters lived in harmony—until the Forgetting. Night Thorns grew across the land and severed the wonderful memories tied to this magical place. With nowhere else to go, the hopeless inhabitants of Dreamlight Valley retreated behind locked doors in the Dream Castle. More info here: https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/disney-dreamlight-valley-switch/
My Thoughts on the Game:
There are three versions of the game: Normal (game only $30), Deluxe (game plus some goodies $50), and Ultimate (game plus all goodies $70). That is up there in “new xbox one games” prices. I don’t always spend too much money on a game, but when I do-I have some high expectations and excitement for it. The game got released, and as people started to play it-word spreads around like wildfire with social media. People who love Animal Crossing or Stardew-were/are making a case for other people to play this game. I would guess on top of this, most of these people are not even being paid to do so-just using a trendy topic to make content in a digital social media age. But I am sure disney is just lapping all of that up.
Also, size wise of this game-this is up there with like Borderlands and they had so many people go into making that game a reality. There is one company listed to make this whole game. Damn-kudos. Ok, story time. You as a player come back to a childhood home running from the city life. You nap, and in your dreams you come to Dreamlight Valley. (Now the normal disenchanted adult in me really wants to tear this setting up story apart but I am trying to refind the magic, like the main character LOL).
I am aiming for a spoiler free review, but this is the only spoiler alert y’all will be getting. Read at your own risk, but really will this post tell you anything you have not seen on TikTok?
Gameplay starts off slow in my opinion, this being a sims/AC/stardew hybrid under the “non-monopoly” that is the disney umbrella, I am not sure what I was expecting. You get the finding the valley/island in messy state, having to build up energy like stardew, friendships moving the game forward in a much more obvious way than in AC/stardew. Some things I love: the tools don’t break. The graphics? Really bright, really pretty. Character building is very Sim like, kind of weird but I guess it hits more with the “genders have no place in society” people. You don’t start off as man or woman but various starting points and then customize.
It is so fun to talk to the classic OG disney characters. Background music is different all the time, kind of remakes of the classic disney songs and tunes but like coffee shop versions? Menus are helpful but a lot, but there is a lot they packed into this game. I imagine this game is hard to play in “handheld” mode for switch. It syncs to your time, like AC. But elements within game respawn quickly. Like you need to eat to refuel but the trees have new fruits if you go home then come out. I have also heard that it is much quicker to move houses and customize your valley. Cooking is also supposed to be more interactive, which would beat AC and Stardew.
I would say I love this game for the reason I hate it-it’s derivative. I love Sims, AC, and Stardew-but it kind of seems like Disney just ripped off all of those and it’s not that unique for that reason? Strange thought I know. Do I generally like the game? Yes. Old school disney, my own valley, pace is relaxing. The other problem with this game being AC/Stardew/Sims 2.0 is that if the player plays any or all of those games, one has to ask themselves...Do I have the extra hours to invest into another one of these kinds of games? Generally in life though, if something matters to you enough, you make time for it. I think this game and I will come together not in a “love at first site way” but like “arranged marriage but come to find love in it in the long haul” kind of way.
As I was on my switch last night playing AC, I did see that Dreamlight Valley had an update-as the game is in early release mode essentially-new content to come in the future I think will create the long term value of this game. I have not yet figured out what was in that update, but I will. I do kind of wish, if other people I knew played it, that they could help me with my valley or come to see it. Maybe that will be added? What are y’alls thoughts on the game?

Game rec for people who like Animal Crossing:
DISNEY Dreamlight Valley.
Single player. No combat. On every platform.
You rebuild the valley after it falls to The Forgotten. It's mostly resource management and quests. Developing friendships with the villagers, who are all well known Disney characters. It comes in 3 prices but the cheapest one has all the content you need to play the game. It's currently in beta so it does crash after intensive building and reorganizing.
@the-munch-monster , @ezraye and @nc-lesbo-life are also playing so we compare notes.

If you can’t decide which one to go for, today’s news reminds us that we can multiclass and take the best bits of two builds. They double up as “masters of nature”, which gives them the ability to both summon a companion and boost their allies’ stats. Spore Wardens, on the other hand, are typical archers with a bit of a twist. They also get a Demi-Lich companion to help them out, so you won’t be having to sacrifice all of your HP to land hits on enemies. We seem them use ultra-powerful area-of-effect spells, described as “high risk, high reward”.
