First vinyl release from Clay Kolbinger’s Private Anarchy project, following a 2017 self-titled cassette, both released by Round Bale Recordings. The cassette had some real flashes of brilliance, Kolbinger bashing out deadpan punk by his lonesome as heard through crumbling drywall. It turned some heads, though the thin recording made it difficult to differentiate songs on repeat listens. Central Planning corrects that with mastering from Sean McCann, and while that undeniably helps Kolbinger’s cause, it’s his ventures outside of his frantic two-minute drills that really make this one stick. Take “Cars,” which starts with a repeated bass line walking over debris (incoherent voices, tea kettle whistles, keyboards that sound like warped sirens) until drawled vocals and an Arab on Radar-on-downers guitar line sweeps everything up and rides out. These small outta bounds ventures pile up on the flip: Kolbinger does a hoarse Bryan Ferry impersonation amidst some keyboard sax on “Palm Was a Gas,” “Misery Switch” sounds like a song Ego Summit left on the cutting floor, and “Accumulation”’s layered speaking samples and backwards rubber band guitar reek of Kye Records. When barreling ahead with pogo drums and agile Pink Flag guitar lines, Kolbinger sounds sharper and more confident on Central Planning than ever. “H.A.” is a standout with its dry declaration of “If you don’t like the taste of the offal, you better not eat/you better not eateateateat...,” and the lithe guitar corralled by the rolling drums on crisp closer “The Catalog of Fire” is a spotlight on Kolbinger’s intended mark now that all the dust’s blown away. Central Planning is a controlled panic, narrated by Kolbinger’s double-tracked discernment, making his own traction with 135 labor hours and emerging with one of the year’s finest.

Tonight has been hell

It's 6am I'm too stressed to sleep.

I've been really stressed out from work. A new employee has been causing a lot of issues. It seems she is especially targeting me.

Like tonight I went "ew" (I put my hand in some oil) and she was Like "why are you talking about yourself? Hahaha kidding it's just a joke!'

I think that is what really pushed me into feeling even more dysphoric than I had been. And just down about my appearance.

Half my brain says to starve myself because losing weight would be good. The other half says eateateateat because it will get rid of depression! (Spoilers, it doesn't).

Then apparently tonight I became overstimulated? I've never experienced such an adverse reaction to being touched but my dogs were pushing me to the edge with their licking me but I couldn't tell then to leave me alone or even yell at them because they don't understand they just knew their papa was feeling sad and wanted to comfort me.

And my binder I'm just freaking out about because it does feel sorta loose but also not loose. The arm holes are definitely fine but like... I don't stay in place... I don't know if it is a sizing issue or if I'm just built in a way that binders will not work well for me. I don't know. But that hasn't been helping either.

It's just. Been a bad day. And I just want to sleep. And I can't.

I have to wake up in 7 hours and then go to work and I don't want to go to work. I don't know if my brain can handle it today. But I definitely can't call off.

Plus starting next week I'm gonna be in charge twice a week and I'm pretty sure it is gonna be me plus the new girl I'm having problems with and I don't even know who else.

And my ankle has been hurting cause either my left arches have fallen more or I have a stress fracture. Pain medicine doesn't help. Bandages and inserts in the show help some but I still have pain. Just so much pain.

I'm just so tired

And so done with everything

I just want to be healthy

And not have everything goddamn EVERYTHING be an obstacle

I want to know what it's like to wake up and feel energized, or even get energy some time during the day. Just one day with some energy is all I'm asking.

Just one day without my body and my brain trying to destroy me from the inside out.
