Selling Out Our Economic Heart: To China
Introduction: In recent years, there has been a growing concern over the increasing influence of China in global economics and, more specifically, the extent to which our own country has become entangled in this economic relationship. It is disheartening to witness how our leaders have seemingly sold out our economic heart to China, prioritizing short-term gains over long-term sustainability and jeopardizing our national interests. In this post, I will delve into the alarming consequences of this sell-out and the urgent need for a reevaluation of our economic ties with China.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Economic Dependence: By relying heavily on China as a trading partner and a source of investment, we have become dangerously dependent on their economy. This economic reliance leaves us vulnerable to the fluctuations and policies of the Chinese government, putting our economic stability at risk. It is essential to diversify our economic relationships and reduce this overreliance to safeguard our own economic interests.
Job Losses and Outsourcing: The sell-out to China has resulted in the loss of numerous domestic jobs and the outsourcing of manufacturing and production to Chinese companies. Our own industries and workforce have suffered as a result, as companies seek cheaper labour and lower production costs in China. This erosion of domestic industries undermines our economic resilience and jeopardizes the livelihoods of our own citizens.
Intellectual Property Theft: China's lax enforcement of intellectual property rights has been a significant concern for our country. By conducting business with China, we inadvertently expose our technological advancements, proprietary knowledge, and trade secrets to the risk of theft. This intellectual property theft not only undermines innovation but also harms the competitive edge of our own industries on a global scale.
Unfair Trade Practices: China's unfair trade practices, including subsidies for their own industries and the manipulation of currency values, have had a detrimental impact on our economy. These practices create an uneven playing field, putting our businesses at a disadvantage and compromising the competitiveness of our products and services in the global market. It is imperative to address these unfair trade practices and establish a level playing field for fair economic competition.
Human Rights Concerns: China's well-documented record of human rights abuses, including forced labour, suppression of dissent, and violations of basic freedoms, should raise alarm bells regarding our economic ties. By turning a blind eye to these human rights abuses, we risk being complicit in supporting and perpetuating such atrocities. Our economic interests should never come at the expense of our ethical principles and human rights values.
National Security Risks: The deepening economic ties with China also pose significant national security risks. The Chinese government's potential access to critical infrastructure, sensitive information, and strategic assets can compromise our sovereignty and national security. It is crucial to reassess our economic partnerships with a careful consideration of the potential security implications involved.
Conclusion: The sale of our economic heart to China has resulted in numerous detrimental consequences, including economic dependence, job losses, intellectual property theft, unfair trade practices, human rights concerns, and national security risks. It is high time for our leaders to prioritize our national interests, diversify our economic relationships, and establish a more balanced and sustainable approach to global trade. We must not sacrifice our economic autonomy and ethical principles for short-term gains, but rather foster a resilient and independent economy that safeguards the interests and values of our nation and its citizens.

12 Guides on How We Can Live by the Golden Rule (PART 1)
1. Empathy should be practiced. Make it a practice to try to put yourself in someone else's shoes. It might be anyone. People you meet on the street, loved ones, coworkers. To the best of your ability, try to comprehend what it's like to be them, what they're going through, and why they do what they do.
2. Compassion is something that you should practice. Learn to want to end someone else's misery once you can understand and feel what they're going through. And, if you're able, do something small to help them.
3. Be polite. When in doubt, use this advice. Being friendly to others is typically a safe bet. Of course, there will be occasions when others do not want you to be friendly to them, and you should be aware of this. You should also be friendly, but only to the extent that it is suitable. But, after all, who doesn't want to be welcomed and wanted?

Ethical principles
Ethical principles are a philosophical stance which directly or indirectly leads to a standard based around ethics.
Ethics means ‘moral principles that govern a person or group’s behaviour,’ so that a perfect union is formed, implying that unity of purpose is a primary value. The principle of respect for autonomy.
We all have an obligation to respect the autonomy of other people, respecting the decisions made by other people concerning their own lives.
The four principles of ethics are:
Integrity
To behave in accordance with ethical principles, act in honesty, fairness and in good faith.
Impartiality and independence
To remain impartial and to conduct oneself in the interests of others and to ensure that any personal views and convictions do not compromise ethical principles, or official duties.
Accountability
To take responsibility for one’s decisions, actions and their consequences.
Respect
To continue to respect the diversity, equality, dignity, worth and privacy of all persons.
Conclusion
We must at all times promote a high level of professionalism towards decisions and actions to make sure those are upheld, through mandates and objectives.
For those who are in a place of power and have responsibility, it is even more important they remain impartial. Others are relying on them to get that right, whether in politics, in business or through an institution.
For society and the world to live in sync and harmony with each other it is important we all live by the same rules.

12 Guides on How We Can Live by the Golden Rule (PART 4)
10. Make a difference. Gandhi famously advised us to "be the change" in the world. We often associate the quote with major shifts in society, such as poverty, racism, and violence. Sure, it applies to certain situations... However, it also applies on a much smaller scale: to all interpersonal relationships. Do you want people to be more compassionate and kinder to one another? Then begin with yourself. Even if the world doesn't change, you've changed.
11. Take note of how you feel as a result of it. Pay attention to how your actions affect others, particularly when you begin to treat people with kindness, compassion, respect, trust, and love. However, take note of the changes in yourself. Do you think you've improved your self-esteem? Happier? Is it more secure? Now that you trust yourself, are you more willing to trust others? These changes occur slowly and in modest increments, but they are visible if you pay attention.
12. Enjoy some peace and be quiet. Make it a point to take at least 10 minutes every day to reflect on your actions during the day. You're losing sight of what matters most if you're involved in too many activities, taking on too much, or wasting time on unimportant and time-consuming initiatives and jobs. Say a prayer and consider how you can improve your day.

Writing with Integrity
No matter what I write about on my blog, I write with integrity, truth, openness, and honesty about the things that affect my mental and emotional health, on the things that I know are happening out there, on things that can affect us all.
The irony in Covid-19 is that no one is safe until we’re all safe and we can never be safe when decisions aren’t being made to keep us safe. Keeping ourselves safe, helps others stay safe. Today restrictions in the UK are being lifted, please let’s continue to keep ourselves and each other safe, by making good decisions.
I shall continue to wear my mask and shall start wearing a visor too when I’m out in public spaces. I will also continue to sanitise my hands and social distance. The science tells us we need to continue to mask up and keep up with precautionary measures, and although the UK Government are dropping those measures, I shall continue to use my own common sense.
Throughout Covid, decisions should have been made for schools to close, or take the necessary precautionary measures to keep children safe in school. I am struggling to get my head around the fact that children have caught Covid and/or have died from the virus and should at all costs, have continued to be protected.
Remote learning should still be in force and precautionary measures should still be in place. Unless we independently take the view that we should continue to use our common sense in Covid, cases will continue to rise. Babies are also getting infected with Covid.
