Y'know, TERF arguments often revolve around the deconstruction of gender (specifically, gender roles), and that trans women stand in opposition to this, because we "embody and exaggerate" stereotypical femininity. They cater to outdated, if not completely fabricated, notions of biology and sex characteristics, claiming that such things are immutable, and definitive, of a person's identity. Yet...and this one is really goddamn funny, they often claim that a person's sexuality is divorced of these qualia. Many TERFs (especially 2nd wavers) either identify as lesbians, or "political" lesbians (which, as far as I'm concerned is just an appropriation of lesbianism, by non-lesbian women, who are actually exercising radical political celibacy), the latter of which argue that sexuality (specifically, lesbianism) can be chosen, and should be chosen. But, I'm kinda starting to digress. My main point is that, if you're really interested in deconstructing gender, then you need to understand that everyone has a different idea of what that looks like, and that gender and sex are not intrinsically linked. Irrespective of one being trans, or cis, the idea of gender, and the construction and deconstruction of such, is varied. One must be willing to accept that culture, race, and personal ideologies all play a part in formulating and embodying gender. It should also go without saying that many cis women (including those who identify with feminism) can, and do, exaggerate certain aspects of stereotypical femininity. And, there's a decent number of trans women, who subvert notions of femininity. But, hell, I don't even know why I'm risking carpal tunnel, discussing this. TERFs are, by and large, accessories to sexism, racism, classism, and queerphobia, in general. Most of them don't care enough about actually being useful activists, and just want to be aggressively contrarian.
