Furina stans really took her situation so fucking personally lmao

They are like "The Fontaine characters have been such assholes to Furina!!! They treated her like shit while she was working hard to save everyone!!!! They need to apologize!"

Girl, they had no idea.

Literally no one, not even Furina, knew about Focalors' plan.

(Even the fandom didn't know and almost everyone, the majority of her stans as well, was shitting on Furina before knowing the truth. EVERYONE was saying she wasn't the real archon, she wasn't useful and she was weak.)

The only thing they knew was that their so-called Hydro Archon wasn't doing anything to solve the literal apocalypse Fontaine was about to face. What did you expect from them???

Their actions were perfectly understandable, and as soon as they found out the truth they all treated her differently and gave her the credit and comfort she deserves (we are not gonna talk about the Traveler's and Paimon's attitude in her story quest... I don't know what they wrote them like that))

No one would have treated Furina like that if they knew.

Fontaine archon quest is Not misogynistic.

Now don't get me wrong, I have my fair share of problems with how the female characters are written in Genshin but Furina is in my opinion the most well written character in the game.

I love seeing powerful women in postions of power. It's a nice thing to have in a story but it's not a determining factor in the story.

Furina being powerless doesn't necessarily make her a weak character. Rather her powerlessness is exactly what makes her such a compelling character.

Her stubbornness, her persistence, her endurance and her compassion just would not have made the same impact had she been the "real archon".

Furina isn't immature but she is a child. She is a child who was forced to grow up to handle the responsibility that was forced upon her. Playing the role of an archon was a burden placed upon her. So if she had ended up with the responsibility and/or power of an archon it would have felt wrong.

I'm sure the story could have been written in a way where Furina ends up being powerful but I don't think that version of the story would have felt nearly as impactful.

As for the authority going to Nuevilette...

Well I wonder how people would react if the genders of all the characters were flipped.

Nuevilette is a fan favourite character but had he been a female character instead would people have the same reaction to her? I'm sure she would have had her fair share of simps but I also think she would have come off as a passive, Mary Sue type of character. Childe and Wriothesley barely made an appearance, a huge chunk of the quest focused on Navia. Although putting Furina to trial was Nuevilette's idea Navia and Chloride were the ones who came up with the plan. Focalor was the mastermind, Lyney, Lynette and Ferminet were acting on the Knave's orders who was ultimately able to get the gnosis, Skirk could probably destroy a national on accident by sneezing and Furina was the emotional core of the story. Something tells me that this version of the story would also be considered misogynistic.

People, including myself, have a tendency to equate physically/magically strong female character with good female character and progressive writing, and so the lack of that type of strength gets equated with bad female character and misogynistic writing.

It's easy to write a powerful character, writing an impactful character is the hard part.

Genshin has a lot of instances of misogynistic writing, Fontaine archon quest isn't one of them.

Spoilers for Fontaine Act 5 and previous archon quests!

What's really sad about Furina is that she has been seeing what is a god in human terms. She sees them as perfect, unmovable deities rather than beings who do make mistakes, therefore trying to become 'perfect', lovable, and unmoving herself.

She hasn't had the chance to actually meet/get to know the archons like the traveler has, hence why she has such a naive worldview of what is a 'god', while we know them as imperfect (and sometimes silly) beings.

The archons we've got to meet have had little knowledge on how humans work, made mistakes that would affect their own living, have made enough bad decisions to start a civil war, have had their own people doubt and hurt them, have cried, have tried to lay low, have been beaten, have felt heartache, etc etc...

This whole demanding act that Furina put upon herself was sometimes unnecessarily harsh on herself, because archons are more human than she thinks.

They certainly put more pressure and anxiety on her.#I feel for Furina. It definitely wasn’t her fault. She is who she is and any human w inexperience would behave the same way

Is it just me, or have we not really received an adequate explanation of the beef between the oceanids and Focalors? All the humanoid oceanids like Idyia and Callirhoe suggest that Fontaine became uninhabitable for oceanids after Focalors took over. Rhodeia asks if Traveller is an assassin sent from her homeland. It's implied that some oceanids didn't accept Focalors and saw her as some kind of interloper, yet there's no reason why this would have happened as she made it her life's work to protect Egeria's legacy. There's obviously some enmity going on, yet, we don't see any inkling of that from Focalors or indeed Furina or Neuvillette. It just feels like a massive unresolved plot hole.
