them announcing games 4-6 as an a/po/llo j/us/tice trilogy is so funny like i get why they marketed it like that but only 1 1/2 games are about him and the one where 1/2 the games about him only focuses on him in the second and last case
#prince's talk tag#im not gonna get the game tho bc i did not have a lot of fun playing those games#the 4th game had good main characters like the ones that were in the game for more than one case#but the case only characters i wasnt fond of most of them#the 5th game has my favorite prosecutor in the new trilogy and nick's bf reveal was cool#but i dont think i can make myself go through the rest of the game again just for those snippets#and forget the 6th game. I had the least fun playing that one#the only things i like were maya's return which with the music made me cry bc i love her so much#but then she ended up in Maya's Greatest hits with the accusations of murder and getting kidnapped#it wasnt until the DLC where we got her as an assistant for a case and that wasn't bad#but that case was for the people that loved the og trilogy (me)#i do remember a funny bit where Athena kept begging to join the case and Phoenix essentially banished her to be Trucy's magic assistant#much to Athena's dismay which I thought was kinda funny#anyway the real showstopper moment in the 6th game was the 4th case bc while it had jack to do with the plot#and you could skip it without missing anything (the game wont let you but you could)#it was the most fun I had playing that game#the banter between the defense and prosecution was so fun and the part where Simon grabs Athena and shakes her but its from her POV#so its like he's shaking the player (me)#i think about that part A LOT#i even look up that part from time to time to relive it bc yes#anyway the banter between simon and nahyuta was what gave birth to my OTP in the new trilogy#it was a fun case 8/10#but its so funny that this means Polly and Trucy will never learn theyre half siblings LMAO#if they made a 7th game its gonna be a whole new cast but tbh i dont even know if I want a new game

One core trait of Phoenix Wright as a character that I rarely see discussed is how utterly evasive he is about his private affairs. It sticks out the most in AA4 when we see Phoenix from the outside, but "Phoenix won't tell anyone anything important unless he absolutely has to (and even then, he probably won't)" is by no means a new development for him.
From AA1 onwards, we see Phoenix dodge people's questions about his personal life time and time again. In part, this is by narrative necessity - Phoenix knows more than the player is meant to know in order to achieve the optimal tension curve. But AA takes his narrative shortcut and turns it into a real character beat.
Phoenix Wright is the most cagey fucker on the planet.
At the end of 1-1 Mia asks him how he came to befriend Larry and Phoenix dodges the question with a vague promise to tell her later - this also means that in all of his time working with Mia, he's never actually disclosed his full motivation for becoming a lawyer to her.
In 1-2, Maya asks him how he knows Edgeworth and he dodges, because of course he does. The same song and dance repeats at the end of 1-3. And despite Maya's repeated prodding by 1-4, Phoenix still has not told her a thing about his past. That's from October until December that Maya is left going ??? and her questions go nowhere.
Then, between AA1 and AA2, Edgeworth is presumed dead by suicide. Does Phoenix tell Maya about this? Absolutely not. He does not tell her in letters nor is he clear about it when they see each other again in person, months later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What Maya gets once it's inevitable to talk is a vague 'he's gone' and no elaboration other than the request to not speak about him again.
This is Phoenix's default coping mechanism.
Tumblr media
In AA3, there are numerous instances where he mentions forgetting Dahlia, not speaking her name again, etc. Edgeworth is 100% getting the 'person who hurt me too deeply to think about' treatment here.
But to not even tell Maya a vague overview on the matter, when Maya knew him too? Rough. And it just keeps going.
It's six months between telling Maya that Edgeworth is 'gone' in 2-2 and her finding out that 'gone' seemingly means' dead' in 2-3.
Tumblr media
Maya complains about it, too. This isn't a matter of 'she never asked again', it's a matter of 'Phoenix is dodging all questions'. Gumshoe has to intervene in order for Maya to finally find out.
And finally in 3-5, does he tell anybody why he's going to Hazakura temple and why he seems interested in Iris? Absolutely not!
At this point we get Edgeworth openly acknowledging that Phoenix keeps his emotional cards extremely closely to the chest. When he states that he wants confirmation on whether or not he has met Iris before, this exchange happens:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even as Edgeworth directly calls him out on being evasive and never actually speaking to people, all Phoenix can do is acknowledge that this is how he is by apologizing - but he won't change his ways.
AA4 Phoenix is really just a natural evolution of Trilogy Phoenix - Trilogy Phoenix is already evasive, already hates telling people about his struggles or accepting help... It's really no wonder that he'd isolate himself instead of reaching out once he gets disbarred.

summary: bob falls for a beautiful barista over the course of a few encounters.
pairing: robert floyd x hotbarista!reader
word count: 7.1k
warnings: swearing, mentions of alcohol, jake being an asshat, bob having some self doubt but he gets over it, smutty smut smut at the end, sort of mentions of an age gap??
MDNI this is an 18+ fic
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
The first time Bob saw you was a Monday morning, he was meeting Phoenix and Rooster on his day off for coffee at a new place in town. It was a cute cafe, full of pastels and pastries and a little bell that jingled when he stepped in. The interior was larger than what he had expected, there were many booths, and a few tables by the front window. Phoenix and Rooster had managed to snag a cosy booth towards the corner of the room. He approached them with a smile on his face, happy to see his friends.
“Hey guys-”
“Bob, move!” Phoenix seethes slightly.
“Nice to see you too.” Bob rolls his eyes, sliding into the booth next to Bradley.
Bradley offers Bob an explanation, “There’s a super hot barista making our drinks right now.”
“Oh, fair enough.” Bob smiles, craning his neck around and trying to see who his friends were talking about.
Phoenix pipes up, “and when he says hot, we’re talking a total smoke show, like i’m pretty sure Rooster is still sporting a semi from when she asked if he wanted cream or not.”
“I am not!” Bradley whines, the tips of his ears tinged pink.
Bob was about to put his two cents on the situation, when suddenly his two friends were silenced from their bickering by a presence he felt over his shoulder.
“One double espresso and one peppermint latte?”
Phoenix beats Bradley for speaking first and Bob recognises her best flirtiest smile.
“Yeah, that’s us.” She says coolly.
“How could I forget?” The voice behind him teases as she places the drinks down, Bob watches Bradley’s cheeks flush again.
Finally, Bob turns to look at the alluring voice, only he hasn’t given you enough time to pull back from placing the drinks down and he finds his face hitting your cleavage. You make a shocked noise, and pull back giggling.
“That’s one way to make me take your order.”
Bob wished the earth would swallow him whole in that moment.
“God, I’m so sorry!” Bob pushes the words out of his mouth frantically.
Phoenix was never wrong, you were totally hot, but not just that, Bob thought. You were beautiful, and clearly funny, probably clever as well, kind (and he wouldn’t have ever said it but you had a great rack).
Phoenix butts in before Bob can ramble more apologies, “He’ll have a cappuccino.”
Bob watches you scribble down his order, in a little notepad you pulled from a pocket in the front of your pink half apron, tied neatly around your waist.
“Perfect.”
You smile down at him, and saunter off. Presumably, to make his drink. He wonders how you don’t notice the three pairs of eyes that watch as you walk away. You’re wearing tight black jeans and a tight cream long sleeve top, the pink apron creating a sweet contrast in your outfit. Once you’re out of earshot, Bradley and Nat finally allow themselves to cackle at Bob’s misfortune.
“I can’t believe you did that!” Bradley snorts.
Nat chokes slightly on her espresso before speaking up as well, “Sorry, I just remembered the panicked look on your face again.”
Bob groans, placing his head into his hands. He knew more often than not that girls like you didn’t go for guys like him, but now he had definitely fucked it. He watches as you make his drink, giggling with one of your coworkers as you work the machines. He imagines you’re telling him about the dork who just accidentally motorboated you trying to stutter out a one word order and groans again.
Bradley takes sympathy on Bob’s groaning and stifles his chuckles, “It’s not that bad! At least you got boobs in your face!”
Bob watches as Nat flicks Bradley in the head, mumbling something about him being a caveman.
“One cappuccino for the cute glasses guy who is now well acquainted with my boobs?” He can hear you giggle as you place the coffee down in front of him.
“That’s me.” Bob says with a hint of awkwardness, pointing his thumbs at himself. Was that an embarrassing thing to do? Probably. But you’re laughing and all Bob can think about his how much he wants to see you do it again.
“Is there anything else I can get you guys?” You ask with a smile on your face.
“We’re good, thank you.” Bradley gets there before Nat this time and pumps his fist under the table.
“I’ll be over here if you need me.” You reply and wander off again, hips swaying.
Bob is reminded of a saying he hears Jake using far too often to girls in the Hard Deck, it usually makes him mildly nauseous but now seems fitting. He does hate to see you go but love to watch you leave.
Nat pipes up again but this time in complaint, “How do you do it, Floyd?”
Bob cocks his head to the side, silently asking her to elaborate.
“She called you ‘cute glasses guy’, you’re so in there.”
Bob’s eyebrows raise so high he’s pretty sure they’re at his hairline. Did you actually call him cute?
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
The second time Bob has the pleasure of seeing you, he’s collecting caffeine for the team with Jake during a break after a particularly early start on the Friday of that same week. He’d been thinking about you for the past few days non stop, so when Phoenix suggested a coffee run, he knew exactly where to go.
What he should have bet on, was Jake also deciding you were the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen.
“Jesus Christ.” Jake drawled out.
Bob knew Jake had spotted you. Lo and behold, you were behind the counter, bent over trying to reach one of the syrup pumps. Same tight black jeans hugging your hips, this time paired with an old band t-shirt. You spin on your heel after hearing Jake’s exclamation, and start to recite your company’s spiel when a spark of recognition flashes across your face.
“Cute glasses guy!” You say almost excitedly.
Bob feels the heat rising in his cheeks as he watches Jake spin around and try and assess the area to see if there were any other dudes wearing glasses in the vicinity. There weren’t.
“Hi.” Bob smiles bashfully.
Jake, who can seemingly never keep his mouth shut decided to pipe up, “I’m feeling a little left out here Bobby, do you two know each other?”
Jake knew damn well how you knew each other, Nat had told everyone as soon as they got back to work. You watched as Bob stumbled over the beginning of a sentence, unsure of how to explain what had happened. You save him from himself and speak up,
“He gave me a very memorable shift on Monday.” You wink at Bob as you say it.
You figured that if this guy was close to Bob, then his other friends had already told him what had happened and he was just trying to rile Bob up.
“It would be my pleasure to give you a memorable shift darlin’.”
Bob rolls his eyes at Jake’s simpering drawl, texan accent heavy on his tongue. Luckily for Bob, you’re just as unimpressed. Usually you like your men a little more… reserved.
“I’m sure it would. What can I get for you today boys?” You ask, directed more towards Bob now.
He whips his phone out and starts reciting the the orders of the team, it’s a tad lengthy but watching you whisper all of his words to yourself again as you use a perfectly manicured hand to tap the drinks into the till makes it worth all the while.
You tuck a stray strand of hair behind your ear as you give him the total, “Will that be with military discount as well?” You gesture towards the two men in uniform. They both nod and you tap in an extra code, bringing the total down significantly.
“I didn’t realise you were military?” You question as you turn around to start making the drinks in the lengthy order, calling another girl out from the back to man the till.
“Naval aviators, sweetheart.” Jake supplies for you. “We’ll I’m a pilot, Bob’s a backseater.”
Bob can’t help but feel like Jake is trying to undermine him slightly. You don’t pick up on it.
“Backseater?” You ask your question directly towards Bob this time.
Bob clears his throat, “Uh yeah, basically I’m a Weapons System Officer, I sit in the back of the plane and man weapons and other stuff.” He didn’t want to bore you.
You smile, “Sounds important, is he your pilot?”You gesture towards Jake.
“No, the woman I was here with on Monday is.”
Your face lights up in recognition, “Oh yeah she was gorgeous! And the guy with the moustache?”
“Yeah he’s a pilot too.” Bob smiles, watching a scowl etch its way onto Jake’s face at the mention of Rooster. He makes a mental note to tell Phoenix what you had said about her.
You’re placing the final drinks down in their holders when Jake finally pipes up again, “You really are beautiful sweetheart.”
His eyes rake all over you, making Bob seethe. You don’t notice the anger radiating off Bob, but flush slightly under the compliment.
“Thanks, flyboy.”
Bob is cursing his lack of confidence, wishing he was the one being labelled with a nickname. He knew you were beautiful, he’d known way before Jake! He looks back up in time for you to hand him a bag with half the drinks inside, the other bag going to Jake.
“It was nice seeing you again Bob.” You preen at him, and add quickly on, “and meeting you, Jake!”
“Anytime, beautiful.” Jake thinks he’s got this one in the bag as he turns around to leave, he’s sure your number is gonna be scrawled on his cup when he opens the bag.
Bob doesn’t miss the way you roll your eyes when your hear the pet name, slyly winking at him once you realise he saw.
Once they’re all back on base handing out the coffees, Jake fully emptied out both the bags of the napkins. He makes a little “aha” noise as he finds what he’s looking for. A napkin with sharpie scrawled over it. His grin is quickly squashed as he throws the napkin in Bob’s direction. It lands on Phoenix’s lap and she reads what the sharpie note says.
cute glasses guy/bob
call me :)
***-***-***
Your name is signed with a little heart next to it at the bottom and Bob can’t help but break out into a wide smile.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
The night before Bob next sees you was the Friday of the next week and you had been texting non stop since you had given him your number. You had even followed each other on instagram. Bob had spent the night scrolling through your posts with Phoenix, careful not to like any, so she had been holding the phone.
Every so often, she would stop and zoom in on one. Like the one of you at your most recent birthday, you were a good few years younger than him, he noted your star sign as well. The next few Phoenix stopped and zoomed in on had Bob wishing for an ice cold shower. The first was a few slides of you on vacation with your friends. A few standard group photos (you stood out from them by a mile), and one particularly gorgeous photo of you stood on the terrace of your hotel room; slightly sun kissed wearing a flimsy summer dress and your hair flipped to one side. The sun was setting in the background and Bob was pretty sure he was having some type of angina, but the last picture on the slide is what had him truly breathless. You were on the beach with your hair tied up messily, wearing a pathetic excuse for a bikini, your back was facing the camera but you were looking back at it squinting slightly over your shoulder. Bob didn’t want to seem too creepy, but Nat had thrown all caution to the wind. Immediately zooming in on your ass.
“Damn.” She muttered.
Bob discreetly tried to move the pillow from behind him over his lap. Nat, the ever perceptible noticed immediately and cackled.
“Same.” She patted him on the shoulder.
“Maybe we should stop stalking for the night.” Bob started.
Nat whined like a child being denied candy, “Cmonnnn just one more? Then I’ll never bother you again.”
Bob rolled his eyes and let her continue when she gasped far too theatrically.
“She just posted on her story!”
“Don’t click it-”
He had been far too slow in stopping his nimbled fingered friend.
“Holy shit.”
It was a mirror selfie, your room was lit up only by a warm lamp seen in the corner of the picture. You were posed on your knees wearing only a black high waisted body suit.
“Dude, she’s totally posting thirst traps for you!” Nat squealed.
Bob rolled his eyes, sure it was crazy that you posted something like that just when he was on your account, but how on earth would you know that he would be the first one to see it? There were a number of guys in your comments who you could be trying to impress. Or you could just be posting a photo that you liked.
What Bob and Nat didn’t know, was that you were sat in your room with your best friend Marley. You had been showing her photos from Bob’s instagram account when you received a notification that he had liked your post. It was from a little over a month ago and was slides full of your vacation photos. Marley shrieked.
“Oh my God, he was so stalking you!”
You giggle in realisation, “I hope he comments.”
Marley rolls her eyes, “Sure, Mr ‘I post pictures of cute dogs I see in the street’ is gonna comment on your blatant ass pics.”
You shove her playfully, “You said you liked those pics!”
She smiles, “Of course I do, and so does he clearly. I just don’t know if he’s brave enough to tell you so.”
You cock your head to the side, which eggs her on.
“You should post something, make him comment.”
That’s how you found yourself in the skimpiest piece of clothing you own, being positioned by your friend. Once you hit post, you felt a wave of nausea come over you. Marley noticed as the ever attentive friend she was and took your phone from you. She refreshed it a few times and screamed.
“He’s already viewed it!”
“WHAT?” You shriek far too loudly considering you had downstairs neighbours.
You grab your phone out of her hands to see for yourself. He was there in the viewers, along with your usual people. Then you hear the ping to notify someone has sent you a dm.
“Open it!” Marley says with the most urgency you’ve ever heard.
It’s from Bob.
_rfloyd93
replied to your story
damn 😍
Back in the barracks, Bob is trying to wrestle his phone from Natasha.
“DAMN?! I would never say that! You made me sound like Jake!”
They stop their huffing and puffing so Phoenix can explain. “And when has it ever not worked for him?”
Bob rolls his eyes but doesn’t reply, he knows she’s right.
“Look she’s typing!”
Phoenix shoves his phone back into his hands.
you
like what you see?
Bob shows the message to Phoenix,
“What do i say?!”
Phoenix is much more nonchalant about the situation, she understands now that you definitely like Bob. She’s never seen someone so taken by her shy backseater.
“Just say the truth.” Nat shrugs
Bob types and untypes for a second before sending his message.
_rfloyd93
i’d like it more in person
You shriek once again, showing your phone to Marley who shrieks as well. You can hear your downstairs neighbour Mrs Bellman smacking her broom against the ceiling in hopes that you’ll shut up.
you
my shift ends at 6 tomorrow?
_rfloyd93
i’ll be there
You like his message and flop back on your bed with a dreamy sigh.
Marley laughs, “girl, you have got it bad.”
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
The third time Bob sees you, is the next day when you’ve finished your shift. He’s waiting for you sat in one of the booths near the front, fiddling with his phone. Your coworker Julian points him out to you.
“Boobs guy is sat over there, babe.”
You giggle at him, untying your apron and folding it to put in your tote bag.
“I know, I’m meeting him.”
Julian gasps loudly and you shush him, pushing your finger to his lips. You slowly, pull your finger away and let him speak in a hushed tone.
“Oh my Goddddddd! Tell me everything on Monday please!”
You roll your eyes at him, “You know I will.”
With that you kiss his cheek and wander over to Bob.
“Hey.” You say slightly breathlessly.
He smiles up at you, “Hey.”
He takes in your appearance, signature tight black jeans and he recognises the black body suit, now he knows what it looks like underneath your jeans he flushes slightly. You look down at yourself slightly, placing a hand on your cocked hip.
“Like what you see?” You repeat your words from last night.
Bob flushes further, memories of what he had done after Nat had left last night leaving his cheeks hot to touch.
“You look gorgeous.” He says earnestly, looking up into your eyes.
You cup his cheeks with a hand and smile, “Thanks, Baby. Not too bad yourself.”
Bob feels his jeans tighten and wills himself to think of Grandma Floyd. He finally gets himself to speak, “I was thinking we could go for a walk, maybe get some drinks?”
You pull him up from his seat and link your arm through his, “Sounds perfect.”
Bob knew taking you to the Hard Deck was a risk, but it wasn’t a far walk from the cafe and the service was impeccable.
Pushing through the door he made eye contact with Phoenix first, she gave him a little thumbs. He was already feeling good but that gave him an extra boost of confidence.
During the 10 minute walk to the Hard Deck, you had talked about everything and nothing. Bob found out that your favourite colour was green, you had a pet dog back home called Frank and you had just finished college with a degree in business.
“Not to sound rude, but with a degree in business why do you work in a coffee shop?”
You smile, not taking offense and appreciating his curiosity, “I’m saving up, I want to open a coffee shop of my own, My dad said he could give me money for a deposit but I’m quite close myself now.”
Bob looks at you, wanting you to continue.
“I’ve been saving up since I got my first job in high school.”
Bob notices your confident demeanour has slipped and you seem bashful.
“That’s really cool.” He smiles and you can tell he’s being truthful. “When I was in high school I was a total drama geek.”
His attempt to to make you laugh works and your confidence is back, “I can definitely imagine you as a little Romeo.”
By the time you reach the Hard Deck you’ve both swapped enough embarrassing high school stories for a life time. Now Bob just hopes he can get through the night.
You and Bob are sat at a somewhat secluded table towards the corner of the room near the jukebox. You’re sipping on a vodka cranberry whilst Bob has a stella in a bottle with a label that he’s playing with. Bob decides it’s time to rid himself of the large sweater he was wearing to combat the night time chill that came with early winter in San Diego. You’re trying not to visibly swoon as you watch his biceps strain under the tight black top he’s wearing. His hair flops slightly without its gel to hold it in place so now looks slightly mussed. You reach over the table to fix it, Bob gets an eyeful down your top, he can’t complain.
Once you pull back you’ve got a cheeky smile on your face, Bob quirks an eyebrow,
“Who knew Bobby was hiding these guns under those chunky sweaters?” You giggle somewhat coyly.
You love watching the pink flush rise from his neck to his ear tips so you tease him further.
“Any other surprises you want to warn me about?”
“No, ma’am.” Bob doesn’t catch your drift fully, but his southern twang makes all up for it.
You feel your thighs clench slightly at the name he drops. You decide to move the conversation forward, thinking it’s best for your underwear.
“So what brings us here?” You gesture to the large amounts of navy memorabilia that surround the walls and ceilings of the Hard Deck.
“Me and my friends come here a lot, very navy friendly.” Bob smiles.
“Are they here? Your friends?” You question.
“Yeah, around here somewhere. They always are.”
“Can I meet them?”
That’s not what Bob had expected you to ask, but there was no way in hell he was gonna miss out on rubbing this in Bagman’s face.
“Definitely.”
You recognise three of Bob’s friends immediately. They’re all stood or sat around the pool table, taking turns and sipping beers. You learn their names properly this time. Phoenix is the beautiful woman who is Bob’s pilot (and also his only competition), Rooster is his moustachioed friend and Hangman is the tall blonde who had tried it on you.
“It’s nice to see you guys again!” You say hugging Phoenix and Rooster with an arm.
Another man with a moustache stood next to them pipes up, “Sorry, have we met before? I’m Payback, but you can call me Reuben.”
His smile is sweet, and you reach out to shake his extended hand. Another slightly shorter man stood next to him speaks,
“I would remember that face if we had met,” He’s charming as well, but no Bob. “I’m Fanboy.”
Phoenix comes to your rescue and explains the situation before retreating back to Rooster. Another tall man stood next to Jake laughs, “Oh my God, you’re the hot barista that Bob motorboated!”
Bob tenses slightly from his position beside you, you’re not sure if it’s because of the remembrance of the embarrassing action or if it’s the fact that you now know that him and all his friends had been referring to you as “the hot barista”.
You giggle at the man who had exclaimed (you think his name is Coyote),
“That’s me.”
Bob can only breathe a sigh of relief at your constant collectedness of anything cringeworthy that came your way.
Phoenix and Rooster had been watching all the interactions from a bit further back.
“She’s perfect for him, don’t you think?” Bradley nudges Phoenix. “They really balance each other out.”
Phoenix finally sighs out, “If they don’t work out do you think I’d still have a shot?”
Bradley snorts until he realises his friend is being serious, “Hey, let’s not go praying on anybody’s downfall.”
Phoenix rolls her eyes and walks off to get another beer. She cant help but smile as she catches you giggling at something Bob has said to Jake, you’re squeezing Bob’s bicep as you calm down and his arm is wrapped lowly around your waist. You really were perfect for each other.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
The next time you see Bob is a week later when he’s picking you up from your apartment for your first “proper date.”
Bob had insisted on taking you out to dinner (as the gentleman he is). You had texted him about what to wear and he had simply told you that you’d look good in anything (and nothing, but he was too afraid to say that part). It was sweet, but ultimately unhelpful, so you were frantically sending Marley photos of dresses you were thinking of wearing.
The first one was a tight minidress, it was red and didn’t leave much to the imagination.
marls <3
hot, maybe too slutty for a first date?
you
ur right, hang on
The second was a floral sundress, it had a wrap part around the cleavage.
marls <3
adorable, too casual for dinner tho
you
ugh
i have nothing to wear
marls <3
i’m sure he’d love that
you
shush
WAIT

The last dress you try on is a black maxi dress, it’s tight but tasteful. With a low enough neckline to be teasing but not indecent.
You send the photo to Marley and await her response.

You spritz your makeup with setting spray and spray extra perfume on your pulse points. You then hook your hoops into your ears and check the time on your phone. 19:20. You had ten minutes before Bob said he would arrive, you check back through your texts to make sure you got the timing right. Not that you could forget, you’d been looking forward to seeing him again all week.
Before you knew it you had been daydreaming about Bob’s strong arms for the past five minutes, when your phone chimes.
bobby ❤️
i’m here
do u want me to come up?
you
dw!
i’ll be down in a sec
You pull on your wedges and make your way to your door, taking one final look at yourself in the mirror before grabbing you clutch.
You make light conversation in the elevator with the teen girl who lives with her mother in the apartment across from you.
“You look beautiful, are you meeting someone?”
You smile bashfully at her, “Yeah he’s really sweet!”
You had given her the odd piece of boy advice when her mother had asked you to check in on her when she was working nights.
“Don’t tell on me if you see me coming back with him tonight.”
She giggles as if you’ve let her in on a big secret, and exits the elevator with you as it hits the ground floor. She peeks round to see who you’re meeting and whispers in your ear before she turns to go the vending machines.
“He’s hot!”
You chuckle at her, “I know right!”
Bob looks handsome as ever, he’s pushed his hair back and is wearing a tight black button up shirt with black slacks and smart shoes. You realise you look quite the matching couple.
As you reach him, both his hands come to rest on your hips, yours on his chest.
“Hey, handsome.”
That makes a smirk come to rest on Bob’s lips, your thighs squeeze together involuntarily at the action.
“You look fucking incredible.” He charms.
He takes your hand in his and holds you out to do a little twirl for him. As you spin around he sucks a deep breath in.
“How did I get so lucky?”
You peck him on the cheek, “I could ask myself the same thing.”
You love him like this, breezy. Like there’s nothing in the world that could weigh him down.
He helps you into the passenger seat of his jeep, before going around to sit in the drivers side.
“I’ve booked us a table at Fucina, I forgot to ask if Italian was okay with you?” Bob asks, nerves taking over him partly.
You rest your hand on his thigh to comfort him, “It’s perfect.”
As it turns out, it was more than perfect. The food was incredible, as well as the wine.
“Bob, this is the best food I’ve ever eaten.”
He smiles at that and watches as you moan after swallowing another mouthful of pasta, trying to ignore how his slacks tighten.
“Do you want to try some of mine?” Bob offers, he’s slyly trying to feed you.
“Sure!”
Bob twirls the tagliatelle around his fork and leans over to pop it in your mouth. You wrap your mouth around the fork and pull off of it with a pop, leaving a small amount of the creamy sauce on the side of your lip. Bob watches in awe as you chew and swallow the pasta, your tongue peeks out to swipe at the sauce left on your lip.
“How have you made pasta sexy?”
You laugh at his expression, “I would argue pasta has always been sexy.”
You both finish your meals and polish off the bottle of white that the waiter had recommended, it had gotten pretty late but there was still flocks of well dressed couples eating at the restaurant. You were finally able to flag down a waiter,
“Can we get the cheque please, Daniel?” You smile, looking down at the waiters name tag politely.
The waiter flushes, “Of course, miss.” And scurries off.
Before you can speak, Bob butts in, “There is no way on earth you’re paying.”
You roll your eyes and reach for your clutch, “Shush, handsome.”
Bob is faster than you and your clutch is tucked under his armpit before your fingertips can grasp it. You pout and Bob has half a mind to listen to every command you ever make for the rest of his life, but his mother would be bitterly disappointed if he allowed (who he thought to be) the most beautiful girl in the world to pay for her food.
“Don’t give me that Southern gentleman crap.”
Bob’s cheeks flush as he realises you knew exactly what he was going to say.
“You’re not paying for anything.”
You give him your best doe eyes, squeeze your cleavage together and pout, “Halvesies?”
Bob looks away and says something he never thought he would to you.
“No, darlin’ please, let me do this.” He drawls.
You relent, the pet name sending heat to your cheeks.
“Fine, but i’m paying next time.”
Bob chuckles, but his heart leaps hearing you sound so certain about a ‘next time’. The waiter returns with the cheque and Bob doesn’t even allow you the courtesy of seeing the bill. He knows you’d be angry at how much it was, but he thought it was so worth it, just for you.
Leaving the restaurant, the air has much more of a chill to it than before you left. You try to stifle a shiver as the breeze hits you but Bob has already noticed and is shedding himself of his jacket. Draping it over your shoulders. It’s a tad big on you, but smells incredibly like him. You try to discreetly stick your nose into the neckline and inhale deeply. Bob giggles at your action,
“Smell good?”
“Heavenly.”
It’s a short walk to Bob’s car and he’s rushing around to open the door for you immediately. He gives you your clutch that he had been graciously holding for you before walking round back to the drivers side.
The radio hums peacefully between you two playing 80s r&b hits on the slow drive back to your apartment. The sky is a dusky blue, and the city lights blur with the stars the darker it gets. You hum along as the song switches to one you recognise, singing quietly as you watch Bob drive. He looks so incredibly handsome lit up by the streetlights.
The song reaches its crescendo and now your full on singing at Bob whilst he giggles at your theatrics, “It’s like candy!”
You’re shimmying in your seat and Bob watches with practically hearts for eyes. You laugh heartily and Bob thinks it’s probably the best thing he’ll ever hear.
“Eyes on the road, handsome.”
Who is he to deny you anything? Bob reluctantly pulls his eyes from you and realises he’s much closer to your apartment than he thought. He goes right at the next turning and spots your building at the end of the road. Just as he’s about to start sighing you open your mouth, “Will you come up to my apartment with me?”
Bob swears his heart is beating out of his chest, “Of course.”
Once he’s parked, Bob once again rushes round to open the door for you and help you out. You stumble slightly, landing on the side of your wedge and steady yourself on Bob’s strong arms. Before he can ask if you’re okay your lips are on his. Bob swears he’s in heaven right now. You lips are soft on his, plump and tasting of the remnants of the wine you finished off as well as the tang of the lipgloss you had reapplied in the car. You pull away from him and Bob could have cried from the loss of contact,
“Sorry, I didn’t even ask if I could kiss you.” You mumble slightly.
Bob sighs, “Please shush, and do it again.”
You giggle and immediately reunite your lips. This time there’s a little more passion with the confirmation that he wants it fully. His tongue slides into your mouth, meeting your own making you let out a whimper. You guide his hands from politely at your waist down to your ass, he groans into your mouth, dampening your underwear. You pull away and a string of saliva connects your lips. You want to be disgusted but your pretty sure your core just clenched with more want than you’ve ever felt.
“Come on.” You grab Bob’s hand with a coy smile and drag him into your building and towards the elevator.
The ride up to your floor feels painstakingly long to Bob, when it finally dings and the doors open he lets out a breath he didn’t realise he was holding.
He follows your footsteps as you walk tantalisingly slowly towards your apartment door. You shuffle through your clutch to retrieve your keys before pushing them in the lock and walking through the door. Bob is quick on your heels. You stop abruptly and bend over to undo your wedges. The meat of your ass bumps against Bob’s crotch and he holds in a deep groan.
“Minx.” You hear him mutter as you wander over to your kitchen to grab two glasses and a bottle of red.
You return back to where Bob is now sat on your couch. You place the two glasses on the coffee table along with the bottle.
“Pour us a glass and meet me in my room.”
Bob nods in understanding and blatantly watches your behind as you saunter over to your bedroom. After finishing off pouring the second glass he hears you call out his name. He picks up the glasses and follows your pathway towards your bedroom door which is cracked open slightly.
You’re stood fully naked in front of the full length mirror on your wardrobe door, trying to undo the clasp on the back of your necklace.
Bob’s grip tightens on the two glasses as he tries not to allow them to tumble to the floor. His hard cock is pressing shamelessly against the front of his slacks now.
“Could you help me with my necklace?” You turn your head slightly to ask Bob.
He’s at a loss for words but nods dumbly, placing the two glasses on your dresser closest to the door. He takes the few short steps to close the distance between you and stands behind you cautiously. You look up at him from the mirror,
“You can touch me.” You smile comfortingly at him.
Bob releases a shaky breath and reaches to help hold your hair up. You can feel his warm breath on the back of your neck and it sends a shiver down your spine. The gold pendant which dangles between your breasts shakes slightly and Bob lets his gaze wander down towards them. You finally unclasp your necklace and Bob lets your hair down so you can step away and place the necklace on your jewellery plate.
“Thank you, baby.”
Bob let’s out a low moan. “Do you know what you’re doing to me?”
He reaches for your hand and drags it towards his hard cock. You both moan upon making contact and you palm him slightly over his trousers just enough to work him up. You reach up to connect your lips again as Bob’s hands find your breasts, thumbs circling your nipples making you arch up into his touch. Your hand leaves his crotch in favour of undoing the buttons on his dress shirt hurriedly. His hands join yours so he can finally shed himself of his shirt, suddenly feeling like he was on fire.
Once his shirt has been discarded on the floor, your able to run your hands all over his muscular chest. You whine against his lips as your hands dip lower, tracing his happy trail.
“Why have you been hiding this from me?”
Bob smirks against your lips and deepens the kiss further, licking into your mouth. His hands dip from your waist to the sensitive skin of your inner thighs.
“Can I?” He whispers.
“Fuck, please.”
Bob lifts you in his strong arms and plops you down onto your bed, you spread your legs as he crawls up to meet you. He lowers his head to the bed and stares at your pussy, glistening with arousal for him. It’s already started to coat the tops of your thighs. You shy slightly under his gaze and try to close your legs, he raises a strong hand to your thigh, stopping you.
“Baby, please do something.” You whine, high pitched.
Bob was never one to decline you and reaches his other hand forward. His middle finger slides between your slit, gathering your wetness. He bumps against your clit a few times before pulling his finger away to lick at the wetness now on his finger. You buck your hips up to where he’s looking down at you. He reaches his hand down again and parts your lips. He spits down onto your pussy, it hits your clit and rolls down to mix with your juices.
“Fucking christ.” He whimpers, “I need to fuck you.”
You moan loudly at his proclamation and sit up to help him rid himself of his trousers. You slip off of your bed as he sits up on the edge. Staring down at you with lust blown pupils as you pull the zipper down and begin to pull his trousers down as well. He lifts his hips and you’re able to tear them down the rest of the way pretty quickly since he discarded his shoes near the door along with yours. You’re now face to face with his cock straining against the fabric of his black boxers. The sight makes you lick your lips, maybe another day. You pull his boxers down the rest of the way as well and watch as his cock slaps against his abdomen. The tip is pink and there’s a few beads of precum threatening to fall down the side of him, there’s one large vein that runs across the bottom of it.
“Shit, you’re big.” You chuckle slightly looking up at him. Bob is pretty sure he’s in love with you.
Bob pulls you up by your hands and you land on his lap. You push at his chest and he gets the hint to lay back. His head hits your pillows and you reach forward to peck his lips, before grabbing his cock in you right hand and stroking it a few times. He whimpers against your lips making your giggle. You move your pussy towards his cock, guiding the tip between your folds, gathering wetness. You both moan out as he hits your clit.
“Stop teasing darlin’.” Bob groans as his tip moves over your clit again.
You groan breathlessly but agree, “Only for you handsome.”
With that, you begin to slowly sink down onto his length. Your arousal makes it an easy glide down, but he’s still thick. He struggles not to buck up into you until your finally fully seated. The dusting of hair above his dick hits your clit making your whimper shyly. Bob is 100% sure he’s dead and in heaven right now, and he praises himself for whatever good deed he did which allowed him to feel your velvety walls squeezing him at this very second.
You set a pace on top of him, moving up and down on him and swirling your hips as you go. Bob’s hands are groping at your ass as he bucks up into you, meeting your thrusts. Your bedroom is filled with your joint breathy moans and the sounds of skin slapping as your ride Bob. One of his hands snakes round from your ass to toy with your clit. It makes you jolt and whine out loudly.
“Fuck. Babe I’m gonna cum if you keep doing that.” You giggle down at Bob.
He smirks up at you, “That’s the whole point.” He punctuates his sentence with a thrust up into you. He’s been close since the moment you sank down onto him, but wants you to cum first. He rubs circles on your clit, he can feel you tightening around him the more he does. You quicken your pace, chasing your high.
“I’m close, please.” You moan out, rolling your hips down to meet another sharp thrust from Bob. He switches the way he’s circling your clit abruptly and looks up at you, begging,
“Cum for me please, gorgeous.”
You wail slightly on top of him as your peak hits, clenching down on him as you buck up erratically. Your pulsing pushes Bob over the edge and you can feel as he spurts his seed into you with a few jerks of his hips.
You slump down onto his chest as the white hot pleasure starts to fade away. You listen to his beating heart calm with a lazy smirk on your face. Bob is staring down at you with so much adoration in his eyes it’s hard to comprehend.
“You’re amazing, sweetheart.” He whispers.
You look up at him from where your chin is resting on his pec.
“That’s all you, handsome.”
Bob has never been so sure that you’re all he wants to see for the rest of his life.

In Sickness...
Jake Seresin x Aviator!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Jake feels his pulse jump and his stomach fly when he talks to or about you. Obviously, this must mean he's gravely ill.
Notes: mentions of a cheating boyfriend, jake convinced he's sick when really he is in loooveeee

“Hey, Hangman, can I talk to you for a minute?”
Jake, despite his usual goal of doing everything in his power to get on Phoenix’s nerves, finds himself ignoring the need to be quite annoying. His antics aside, he knew his fellow aviator well enough by now to recognise when she was up for his shit, and when she absolutely wasn’t.
That doesn’t mean he’s not going to be a little bit of a douchebag, though.
“Give me a second, Trace, I’ll need to start my timer.” he makes a show of observing his watch and starting a countdown from sixty seconds. Phoenix ignores him, and in place of possibly giving him a dead arm, she instead comes to a stop in front of him, her arms crossing over her chest in a way that was just a Natasha Thing, and not actually a sign of closed body language-thing
“You’re going to be at Mav and Penny’s later, right?” she asks, even though he knows he’s never given the impression of having any other plans, and she knows it. Jake simply nods, still pretending to count down.
“Right. Well… maybe take it easy on Cricket tonight, okay?” Phoenix asks him, her voice soft and quiet in a manner that makes Jake mess up his countdown, and subsequently drop his wrist and the bit entirely.
“I’m under the impression that I always take it easy on my favourite member of the orthopteran insect family,” he poses, and it's not untrue. He didn’t snipe with Cricket like he did with the others, mostly because she never sniped back, so trying to maintain a faux adversarial relationship would just be boring. No, Cricket was far sweeter and more wholesome than literally anyone he’d ever met, like Elle Woods had a lovechild with Barbie, and instead of banter, he’d found it irresistible and perpetually rewarding to tease her about her Certified Disney Princess status.
(Jake will never let her forget the time a small child at the beach approached her to ask if she was a mermaid, and that wasn’t even the only instance he’d witnessed something like that happening.)
Phoenix shifts uncomfortably in front of him and purses her lips.
“Look, just… give her a break tonight,” she pushes. Jake frowns even deeper, his own mood becoming solemn now.
“What's wrong? Is she alright?” the questions leave his mouth before he can really consider perhaps only asking one, to keep some semblance of cool. Phoenix dances from foot to foot again and nods, but then quickly makes the universal noise, gesture and expression of ‘well, no, actually’.
“She, uh, broke up with her boyfriend a few days ago.” Nat reveals, and oddly, it's the last thing Jake was expecting to hear, and the last thing he’d expect her to divulge to him.
“Oh.” he says, a little unsure of what else to say. Blinking rapidly, Phoenix starts nodding again, this time in a sort of commiserating manner, as if they often gossiped.
“Yeah, she came home to find the prick was fucking one of his colleagues…” She all but spits the words. Her hands form fists where they’re still tucking into her folded arms.
“She's actually really torn up about it, but you know Cricket. She’s not very good at not being positive, you know? So she’s just bottling it up, and I figured, maybe your usual game with her might not be so lighthearted right now. You know she would never tell you if you actually hurt her feelings, so…” Phoenix manages to catch herself before she descends into a full on ramble.
In all the years he’d known her, Jake had only ever witnessed Phoenix fully ramble once, several years ago back in Lemoore, when she and Halo had downed eight shots in ten minutes, and she then proceeded to give him a thirty minute TEDTalk about how cockroaches were basically just incredibly simple AI machines, interrupted every so often when she dozed off against his shoulder, only to pick right back up like nothing had happened.
Pushing the memory aside, Jake takes in her words slowly before at last he releases a deep breath.
He actually finds himself a little taken aback by the sheer depth of anger that lances through him at the thought of Cricket being treated like that. Nobody deserves to be cheated on, but Cricket was simply someone that Jake doesn’t believe anything bad should ever happen to. Around the same time he comes to this conclusion, Jake also becomes aware that as his anger simmers down, he’s struck with the need to seek out his squadmate, and comfort her, something which, if Jake is honest with himself, is not something he has much experience with. He was much more likely to offer space to someone in need, so this sudden urge causes his brow to furrow.
Jake chooses to compartmentalise this oddness for now, but makes a mental note for later to figure out when exactly he’d developed such a strong fondness for Cricket, and more importantly, how exactly that had happened without him knowing.
For now, Jake just gives Pheonix a level nod, and what he hopes is an expression she takes to mean he understands. He then tries to get a hold of his rogue fondness and leashes it with what he thinks is a brotherly, friendly reaction, a more normal reaction for him to have towards his squadmate.
“Does she want him punched or something?” he asks, feeling as though anything more would reveal too much of his scattered, fond thoughts. Jake purses his lips when he realises that ‘fondness’ was quickly becoming an understatement he’ll have to address at some point.
Phoenix's lips curve into a genuine smile, and she chortles softly, shaking her head.
“Well, you’ll have to get in line if she does. I’ve got first dibs.” she states, cracking her knuckles and then her neck, making Jake snort, and shrug, glad to know that perhaps he wasn't the only one suddenly feeling protective.
“I’m sure we could come up with a wrestlemania-worthy finishing move, a la The Hardy Boys to sort him out.” Jake chortles, imagining he and Nat in matching championship belts, and ignoring her raised eyebrow. He knows from that one movement alone that she is filing this information about him away to whip out like a trap card, but compared to the other information she might have gleaned from his reaction to the situation, he doesn’t care so much.
(Besides, Jake felt no shame about his love for Attitude-Era WWE, and if he ever gets the chance to repay her for the thirty minutes of cockroach facts he could have lived his whole life without needing to know, well, now he knew exactly what his topic of choice would be.)
Tumblr media
Four hours later, Jake, for some reason, cannot stop thinking about his conversation with Phoenix. He tried chalking it up to the fact that it was an unusual request she’d made of him, but he knows that is bull. Jake is far too invested all of a sudden in your personal life, in your feelings, in a way that honestly, he never has been before. Or at least, has never realised before, because the more Jake lingers on the idea that you were cheated on, he has to confront the fact that these feelings might just have been there all along, and that actually, your happiness and wellbeing are extremely important to him.
He keeps his distance when you arrive with Halo at Penny and Mav’s, but he eyes you hawkishly anyway, uncaring if he’s obvious about it or not. He wants to believe that if he hadn’t known, he’d have spotted your much more reserved demeanour immediately, but honestly, he's not really sure of anything now when it comes to you. Jake isn’t sure if Phoenix spoke to the others, if he was just the last to know, but there is an air of tenderness in the way the others greet you, which wasn't entirely unusual in itself, yet the softness is palpable even from where he sits on the other side of the yard.
He watches you put on a good show, smiling sweetly at Penny as she rushes over to say hello, but the moment you dont think others are paying attention, your features fall and Jake decides that it is basically unacceptable for you to look that sad ever again.
When you disappear through the backdoor, to put the share platter you’ve bought into the fridge he assumes, Jake doesn’t even excuse himself from the conversation he’s supposedly in before he’s beelining for the house. Behind him, he can vaguely hear Javy and Payback protest, but he doesn’t pay them any mind.
Jake steps through the sliding back doors quietly, closing the door behind him and shutting out the rest of the barbeque, if only for a few minutes. He moves softly through the small back room and towards the kitchen, once more surprised to find out just how pleased he is when you turn to look at him right away. That was new… or was it? Jake thinks perhaps he should stop trying to figure things out.
“Hey! Jake!” you greet cheerfully, and he’s comforted a little that your smile reaches your eyes.
“I didn’t catch you this afternoon, so I didn't get to find out your fruit platter preference, but Javy told me anything but pineapple–” you launch right away into friendly conversation, and oddly, this small normality brings him comfort too, after his afternoon of quiet worry. Jake nods at your words as you continue explaining your fruit platter, and if he hadn't other things on his mind, he would have voiced his amusement at the fact you’d somehow managed to cut or arrange all the fruits into the shape of jets.
Anger bubbles in him once again, at the idea that anybody would do anything to cause you to be upset. You, who cuts fruit into themed shapes, and who makes sure to ask every member of the team their food preferences, and who, he’s almost certain, has made the yoghurt dip you're currently unwrapping completely from scratch just for this casual get together.
How could any sane person know you, know how sweet and caring and fundamentally, altogether good you are, and still choose to do something that would hurt you?
More importantly, how could a man be with you and want anyone else?
Jake takes a step forward and fixes you with what he hopes is not an expression that reflects his inner anger, but gives off something more like softness. He’s not sure he’s ever really had a serious conversation with you before, especially not one that wasn't about work, so he’s surprised how natural it feels to show you something more genuine than his usual playful amusement.
“Are you alright?” he hears himself ask you, almost regretting it when your expression drops immediately, and you look away from him, back to your fruit platter which you now seem to be pointless rearranging just so you don't have to look at him. You attempt to wave him off after a few moments, plastering a smile on and scrunching your nose as you continue to not look at him.
“I’m okay. Really. Things weren’t right for a while, so it’s sort of a relief, really.”
Jake thinks that maybe in a few months time, those words might actually be believable, but Phoenix was right. You were such a naturally happy and uplifting person, it’s clear to Jake that you were struggling to let yourself be sad or angry about it all.
You seem to be expecting him to speak, because you glance back at him several times before you seem to really get a look at his face, at which point you stop messing with your platter and turn to face him properly.
“Thank you for asking, though, I… I really appreciate that,” you murmur, wringing your hands together, before realising what you’re doing and smoothing them out over your sundress instead. Jake feels his pulse speed up. Or maybe it slows, he’s not sure, he just knows that his heart beat becomes irregular, and before he knows what he's doing, he’s stepping even closer towards you.
“Cricket,” he begins, a frown beginning to crease his brow, which your eyes flicker to consciously, as if you were concerned about his feelings. “Just say the word, and his nose will be irreparably broken. For the rest of his life he’ll be telling people it's an old football injury. Maybe he’ll even need surgery to fix it enough that it’s even remotely normal again,” Jake watches your eyes widen and blink as he speaks, but he makes sure to keep any trace of humour from his voice, so you properly understand just how serious he’s being. “Hell, it doesn't even need to be his nose. I’ll break his collarbone, I've heard that's the most painful in the long run…”
When you let out a soft sound halfway between a laugh and a sigh, Jake almost thinks he needs to rephrase his offer, but your soft smile and the almost shy look you shoot at him before you drop your gaze for a moment assures him you understood that he wasn’t joking, even a little.
“Sometimes…” you purse your lips and frown, struggling to find the right words, but you begin wringing your hands slowly again and the movement seems to lend you some confidence. “Sometimes I really wish I could be more like Phoenix… or, more like anybody else, really–” Jake has to physically clamp his mouth shut to stop himself protesting that point and let you talk.
“Sometimes, I wish I was someone who would take you up on that offer. I… I feel like I should want to want that… but I don’t…” you trail off and sigh again, but this time, the exhale seems to take a weight off your chest, like simply admitting these feelings out loud was what you really needed.
You look back up at him properly, and smile again. Jake thinks his pulse has stopped altogether now, and begins to seriously consider reporting to medical first thing Monday morning.
“But, I promise that if I ever change my mind about the severe breaking of certain bones, I’ll know exactly who to talk to.” Your smile widens just slightly, a little mischievous almost, like even just joking about it was very cheeky of you. Jake on the other hand, just believes it to be the only correct course of action.
He opens his mouth to respond, but you begin talking again, dropping your fidgeting hands to hang more relaxed at your sides.
“A lot of my life I haven’t really been surrounded by people who’ve looked out for me, or folks who I can really trust… and I know we’re not really friends, more like work friends, but–” you suddenly cut yourself off and shake your head with a little chortle.
“It doesn’t matter, ignore me–”
“–We’re friends.” Jake can’t stop himself from protesting this time. You blink at him like this is surprising to you. “We are friends, Cricket… I know I–” Jake cuts himself off like you had just done and grinds his teeth a little. This was not a conversation he went around having very often, if ever, at all. “You know I wouldn’t poke fun at you if I didn’t care. I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t think we were friends,” he says, hoping his words didn’t give away exactly how much he cared. You seem to search his face, but you’re nodding, as if he was the one who needed assuring in this situation.
Jake starts to wonder then if he was actually becoming seriously ill, and all of his reaction to this afternoon has just been one big fugue episode. That idea is genuinely more believable to him at this moment, that Jake is really, actually currently unconscious in the on base hospital, with a skyrocketing fever and some other terrible things, than all of this sudden personal change and inner realisation happening so naturally and smoothly and without him having a say in it.
But then you’re smiling at him again, bright and genuine and all thoughts of climbing fevers and sudden illness evaporate. As sad as it sounds, Jake would never dream of you smiling at him like that, the sight so affecting and sweet that he could never come up with on his own. However, he does conclude he’ll probably be seeing it a lot in his dreams from now on. He thinks this should cause panic in him, he should not be planning to dream about one of his squad mates smiling at him, but unsurprisingly to him now, panic is the furthest thing he feels about it.
“Well, I just know that I’m not always good at asserting myself, but I know that you guys… you guys will do it for me.” You give a little shrug. Jake feels a little shame then, that he’s worked with you for several months now and has not once picked up on the fact that you were completely aware of your own tendency to be a bit of a pushover.
It dawns on him that every time he teased you for being ‘too nice’, and every time you laughed or shook your head in amusement, the real joke was on him. It’s a joke that Jake doesn't find particularly funny right now. He’s not sure he ever will.
“Sorry, I’m being so dramatic and grim!” you say suddenly, and this time your mood change isn’t fake or put on. Jake shakes his head at you, and at last feels some of his regular programming begin to seep back in. He chooses to make a show of leaning back against the counter and carefully crosses his arms over his broad chest in a way that he knows looks incredibly sexy (Javy has assured him), a small smirk slowly spreading over his features.
“Cricket,” he drawls out slowly, somewhat relieved that he feels more himself again. You double take as you look back up at him from where you’ve started fiddling with your fruit platter again, your eyes blinking rapidly as you now quickly try to avoid his whole side of the room. Jake’s grin grows ever so slightly when he has your attention, even if you seem too nervous to look at him now.
Unlike most of the women Jake had worked with, you didn't seem to try to, or perhaps you simply were unable to, hide the effect Jake had on you, how he could so easily make you flustered. It's not something he’s totally unfamiliar with, after all, plenty of women around the Hard Deck were the exact same, but the fact that you aren't some civilian looking to get laid, and are in fact one of the best aviators he knows, makes it all the sweeter.
(Jake had once tried to reconcile the way you handled yourself in the air, with the way you were at all other times, but he could never quite do the maths on it, so it was better for his brain if he didn't think about it at all.)
Honestly, Jake knows his getting a reaction out of you is an act of self ego-stroking, but he loved making a spectacle of himself, just to watch how you would sputter and go all mushy, and if he’s even more honest, a big part of his enjoyment lay in the thought that perhaps, he was doing you a favour, giving you something to think about, boyfriend be damned. He supposes he doesn’t need to worry about that being a problem anymore.
Jake then pauses then, and wonders when exactly you having a boyfriend had become a ‘problem’, a threat to him specifically, because the more he thinks about the idea now (hypothetical as it is), the more his skin starts to itch under his shirt.
Perhaps he was getting sick after all.
“Yes, Jake?” you ask, still avoiding looking his way, and trying to use a tone of voice that was either exasperated or ignorant, but your slightly higher pitch gives you away.
“You didn’t say that I was your friend, too,” he faux complains, watches you shake your head a little, but fail completely at keeping the smile off of your face.
With your platter now deemed ready, you pick it up and turn toward him, holding it out for him to take. Jake, without thought, does so.
“You are my friend, too, Jake,” you tell him, far more sincerely this time, and Jake feels his pulse do that odd thing again. He swallows thickly, and nods, before you direct him out the back door.
For the rest of the afternoon, Jake can’t help but hover, never moving too far away from where you are, and when he doesn’t have an excuse to linger close to you, he always keeps one eye directed your way.

୨୧ TOLERATE IT.
ִֶָ 𓂃⊹ ִֶָsimon riley + fem!reader
summary: in which you decide to meet up with simon, and to your dismay things happen between the two of you. but in the end, he still left. link to part one!
tags: angst, talk of parental issues, arguing-ish, slight fluff, delena puts some sense into simon, and reader is a pushover!!
head barbies announcements: hi barbie!! this is a lot more angsty and slightly sexual so minors dni! there will be one more part of this, but other than that enjoy!! do something kind today! peace and love!
Tumblr media
“I miss you, love.” He missed you? You scoffed and ran a hand down your face. You wanted to ignore it, act like you never saw it. You had a new life. Simon wasn't a part of that new life. You promised yourself a long time ago that it would stay that way. You didn't want to know why he left. You want to forget him completely. But you couldn't. You knew that there would always be a part of you tied to him. Simon squeezed Delena's hand, she wasn't one to be impatient. She was gentle with Simon. She had seen the aftermath of what his father had done to him. It was rough. “Del, what if she doesn't respond,” Simon says, his eyes squeezed shut. He tries to ignore the feeling in his stomach. He felt like a nervous schoolboy texting his crush. Delena simply doesn't respond. She loved her godson to pieces but, she didn't tolerate incompetence. Simon looked up at her, waiting for an answer. Instead of answering, she shot him a tight-lipped grin.
You didn't want to respond, but there was a small part of you that felt like you should. He brought out something good in you. You always saw yourself as deeply flawed, not good enough, too hostile. Simon saw you as a phoenix. Constantly getting back up again, rising from the ashes. Your hands trembled as you picked your phone up, you had made up your mind. You were going to respond. Simon's eyes went from soft to offended in a matter of seconds. He knew what Delena was thinking, and he didn't like it one bit. Simon scoffed and took a sip of the large bottle of Disaronno that sat by his side. Delena grunted in disapproval and snatched the bottle from his hand. Simon wasn't himself anymore when Delena looked into his eyes she saw his father. That was her biggest fear. “Simon. If she doesn't respond you have no right to be angry with her. You left without any explanation. That girl deserved the world, and you could've given it to her. Yet you decided to let your trauma get in the way of something great, for the both of you.” Delena says, she stands up the bottle of alcohol still in her hand. Simon's eyes turn to his cracked phone, his lips curling into a soft smile. He picks up his phone and studies the text. It was simple, too simple for him. He wanted more, but he was never satisfied. Simon Riley could have the entire world in his hands and still be unsatisfied. He lifted his phone and showed Delena, he made sure the shards of glass didn't cut her hand. No matter how angry he was, he was gentle with the people he cared most about.
“I'll always miss you, Si.” You responded. It was simple, but it held weight. You would've done anything for him. The two of you were toxic and the both of you knew it. The toxicity was like a drug. Once you're addicted, you can't stop. No matter how long you're clean, a part of you will always long for that drug. There was a point in time when Simon angered you severely. You had held onto it like a grudge. He would make fun of you in front of his friends and leave you to do all the work around the house, but what hurt the most? He acted as if your love for him was simply a burden. Yet you tolerated it. Delena forced a smile. Thankfully, Simon couldn't see the hidden displeasure on her face. She had no problem with you. However, she did have a problem with Simon hurting you. “She misses me, Del,” Simon said with a genuine smile. His heart was beating again, he was slowly becoming the man he was. Delena's hands tightened around the bottle of alcohol, her sharp red nails digging into her palm. “You two should talk, maybe meet up. Then you can apologize.” Delena says with a smile. Yet it fades as he shakes his head. “She can't know why I left Delena, she'll think I'm a coward,” Simon says as he stands up. He needed to see you. He needs to make things right, you were his everything. Without you, he was an empty shell of a man. Delena simply shakes her head and walks away. She was getting a headache and did not have time for him. Simon grabs his broken phone in his hands and sighs. His breathing was slow and heavy, almost as if he didn't want to. Simon.
“Meet me at the café, please baby.”
Simon was one thing for sure, a master manipulator. He knew the buttons to push and when to push them. He knew you were vulnerable right now. He knew you craved his touch. The smell of cigarettes and amaretto still lingered in your house. His side of the bed still smelled like his forest body wash. He lingered. You hated it.
“Yes. Be there at six.”

Mrs. Seresin was the only thing Jake didn't brag about. Don't get me wrong, it's not because he is not proud of you. Quite the opposite.
He's so damn happy to have you in his life that he wants to treasure you. Keep you to himself.
And there hasn't been a lot of time to talk about each other's lives during this mission. Phoenix wants to fix this matter, actually, suggesting all the members that a day at the beach could be a good opportunity to get to know each other.
Unbeknownst to you, Jake had agreed to meet with the rest this Saturday, have something to drink at the Hard Deck, play some Dogfight football… Just a bunch of friends spending a normal day at the beach without having to worry about the safety of the planet. But that plan is thrown out the window when you, Y/n Seresin, the love of Jake’s life, ring the bell of Jake and Javy’s shared house.
“Sunshine? Oh my god, what are you doing here?” Jake says, while hugging you tightly. It has only been a few weeks since the last time he saw you, but it feels like a lifetime away from you.
“Heard that my handsome hubby had chalked up another kill, saved the day and also the famous Maverick. I had to come here and celebrate!” you explain, covering his face with kisses, Jake scrunching his nose due to the pure happiness of the moment.
“Stop, you’re gonna make me blush, Mrs. Seresin”
“Where’s Javy?” you ask, entering the house and leaving your small suitcase in the bedroom.
“I don’t know, he said he was gonna meet Mickey and Reuben to buy something. Don’t ask me why because I can’t remember” he confesses, laughing.
“Oh my, Jake Seresin, aren't you a bit young to be forgetting things?” you joke as you lay down on the bed, tired from the flight from Austin. You had been staying with your sister-in-law and her two kids for a few days, not wanting to be alone when you found out how dangerous this mission was going to be.
“It’s your fault. Do I have to remind you how I forgot my own name when I first saw you?” he recalls, sitting in the bed next to you, his hand quickly moving to your hair, and moving some strands out of your face. “You still have that effect on me, Sunshine”
You smile, satisfaction running through your body as you realize that no matter how much time passes, Jake will always be completely and utterly in love with you. “I saw the beach while in the taxi. This place is amazing, Jake. And you are definitely sunbathing without me, huh? Look at that golden skin” you poke his cheek, making him giggle like a teenager.
Everyone saw Hangman, the aviator.
But only you were able to see Jake, the loving husband.
“Want me to take you to the beach, sunshine? We can take a bath and go for a walk.” he offers, kissing your forehead.
“I’d love to”
-
“Is that woman talking to Hangman?” Phoenix questions out loud while leaving the cooler that Mickey, Reuben and Javy had bought earlier to fill with drinks, in the sand.
“Maybe he is talking to the poor woman,” Fanboy suggests, moving his sunglasses down his nose to try and understand the whole situation. “Should we go rescue her?”
“She doesn’t seem uncomfortable, though” Payback adds, the whole squad standing there like a bunch of sentinels, ready to jump into action if the lady needed to be liberated from the blonde cowboy.
Seconds later, Hangman is throwing the poor girl over his shoulder and walking straight to the water. “Oh god, he’s gonna get smacked,” Bob laughs, opening his blue folding chair and sitting down to enjoy the show.
“JAKE SERESIN PUT ME DOWN” you yell, trying to leave your husband’s arms, only to be thrown in the water. You stand up, your sundress now completely stuck to your body. Thank god you are wearing your swimsuit underneath. “If I didn’t vow to love you for the rest of my life I would kill you”
“Did she say ‘vow’ as in ‘wedding vow’?" Rooster asks, looking at the rest of his team. “Man, I don’t understand anything”
Javy, who had been trying to get the beach umbrella from the trunk after it got stuck, walks happily to the rest, wondering why the heck are they standing there like… well, idiots. “Guys what are you- Y/N SERESIN?”
“JAVY!” the woman, who now everyone knows it’s a Seresin, runs to Javy, almost tackling him to the ground. "I'm so glad you're okay"
"What are you guys doing here?" Questions Hangman to the group, joining his wife and his best friend.
"Dude, beach day. We told you" Fanboy looks at Hangman, wondering if the pilot really had forgotten about it or was just messing with them.
"Excuse my husband, he's having trouble remembering things lately" you tease him, earning a glare from Jake.
"Husband" mutters Bob.
"Husband?" asks Phoenix.
"Husband!" confirms Javy.
"I'm Y/N. We've been married for three years now. And no, I wasn't forced to marry him, Rooster. I know you were about to say that" you say to Bradley, leaving him shocked.
"I was gonna ask that, yes. How did you know? And how did you know I was Rooster"
"Oh, cause I'm good, Rooster. I'm really good" you retort, making Jake laugh.
"Oh no, there's two of them. We're doomed" Bob says, sitting down again.
"I'm guessing Javy was the best-man?" Javy nods at Phoenix, answering her question. "Well, Mrs. Seresin, would you like to play some Dogfight football with us?"
"I don't even know what's that but teach me, and I will play" you say, taking off the sundress and stealing Jake's sunglasses from him.
He looks at you, wondering what had he done in a past life to be this lucky. Good job, good friends, and the perfect wife. His own personal sunshine.

“Who are you?” The pilot's head snaps up at the sound of your voice. He had been sitting at your bedside for the past four days, waiting for you to wake up. There had been a terrible accident during training, one that sent you crashing into the ground. You couldn’t eject. No matter how hard you pulled on the handles, there was nothing you could do to save yourself. Hours later, the search and rescue team found you buried under debris and unconscious. You had been rushed to the hospital on base and immediately treated. You had numerous broken bones, a punctured lung, and a brain bleed. The doctors weren't even sure you were going to make it.
You were in surgery for hours. The Dagger Squad spent the whole time in the waiting room, all anxious about whether you would be okay. Rooster and Phoenix refused to go home, insisting that they would stay by Jake’s side until you woke up. It had nearly been a week, and the longest either of them had left was for a quick shower or to pick up food.
Now, as you were waking up in a room merely 20 feet away, Bradley and Natasha were resting on each other as they slept.
Jake stared at you with wide eyes. He had been waiting to hear your voice for days, and now that you were talking to him, he couldn’t believe it. Your wide eyes watched him carefully as he shot up out of his seat. There was a wide smile on his face, one that quickly disappeared when he realized what you said.
He spoke your name softly as he slowly lowered himself back into the chair. “Do you recognize me?” Horror spread through him as you shook your head. “Excuse me.” Jake murmured before he shot off his chair and darted out of the room. You stared after him, confusion written across your face.
Laboured breaths fell quickly from his lips as Jake leaned against the wall and tossed his head back. Rooster and Phoenix shot out of their chairs at the sight of Jake. “What’s going on?” The blond pilot could hardly hear Rooster’s words through the ringing in his ears. “Jake? Is she awake?” Jake heaved a large sigh.
Humming quietly, Jake peeled his eyes open and did his best to not let any tears fall. Phoenix’s next question had him choking out a humourless laugh. “‘Then what’s the problem?’” He pushed himself off the wall. “You wanna know what the fucking problem is Phoenix? The problem is that when she woke up, she had no goddamn idea who I was.” Everyone fell silent at Jake’s words.
You were always the life of the party. You were always the one to lift everyone’s spirits with your presence alone. Wherever Jake was feeling down, you never failed to cheer him up. You were the single best thing in his life. He never could have asked for anyone better. But now, you couldn’t even remember your husband’s name.
“I’m so sorry,” Phoenix spoke quietly setting a hand on Jake’s forearm to try and comfort him. She couldn’t imagine the pain he was feeling right now. The two of you had only been married for a few months, and now you had no idea that you were ever married in the first place. The tears that he had been trying so hard to hold in were now rolling down his cheeks, dampening the black fabric of his T-shirt. She and Rooster wound their arms around the shaking pilot. “God, Jake. I’m so sorry.”
Just then a nurse stepped out of the room beside them. “Mr. Seresin?” Jake sniffled and pulled back. “If you would please come with me.” She headed back into the room, Jake trailing behind him. Your husband exhaled shakily at the expression on your face. He could tell that you were confused and scared. It ripped him to shreds knowing that he couldn’t comfort you right now.
“Mrs?” The elderly woman started, moving to stand next to you. You sat up, glancing between her and the strange man at the door. “Do you remember your name?” You nodded, giving her your name. The sound of your voice made Jake sigh. He had missed hearing your voice and knowing that you could at least remember your name was a relief. “And can you tell me what year it is?” That was when Jake’s heart sank for the second time in the past ten minutes. You thought that it was three years ago. That explained why you had no idea who he was.
The older woman smiled at Jake gently, seeing the pain in his eyes. “I'll leave you two alone. The doctor should be with you shortly.” Then she stepped out of the room, silence filling it seconds later.
“So…” You started, trying to fill the awkward silence. “Who are you?” Your voice was quieter now, less scared than it was before. Sighing, the pilot took a seat beside you in the hard plastic seat beside your bed. He gave you his name and watched your face carefully to see if you recognized it. You could tell that he was expecting you to know it, but when you didn’t, all you could do was give him a sad smile. “How do we know each other?”
Instantly, Jake began to think over your entire relationship, ever since when you met to now. The two of you met at the beach. The second Jake saw you, he couldn’t help but drop some corny pick-up line to try and get you to look his way. You had giggled at his cheesy line and a few hours later agreed to go out with him. From there the two of you had grown inseparable.
“We met at the beach,” He started, a barely-there fond smile on his face. “I made some corny joke and then we, uh,” Pausing, Jake debated on whether or not to tell you that the two of you had been together for nearly three years. “And then we became friends. We’ve been nearly inseparable ever since.”
You smiled at the thought. “Can you tell me more?” You liked hearing him talk. For some reason, listening to Jake’s soft voice as he spoke about how the two of you met had you melting against the scratchy hospital sheets.
Jake nodded. “Of course, Darlin’,” The pet name sent butterflies fluttering around your stomach. Why, you weren’t quite sure. “You were on leave and I had just been stationed in Miami for six months,” You smiled, trying to picture what he was describing. “After that, you went to Lemoore and I went up to Virginia. We still kept talking though,” There was a faint smile on his face as he thought about the last few years with you. “A few months ago we both came to North Island. And now we're here.” The pilot wrapped up his short summary just before your doctor walked into the room.
The older man smiled gently at the two of you, glasses perched on his nose as he glanced down at your file. “Mrs.,” He started, pausing when Jake shook his head subtly. “Miss,” The doctor started again. “It appears that due to the crash, you have sustained mild brain damage. This would explain your memory loss,” You nodded, listening intently to the doctor's words. “In time, you should hopefully regain most, if not all of your memories. However, we cannot be sure how long this will take. It could take anywhere from a few months to a few years,” Swallowing, you nodded. “We’d like to keep you in the hospital for the next few days to monitor your progress.” You nodded once more, yawning slightly as your doctor finished talking.
He stepped out of the room, allowing you and Jake to continue your conversation. “Would you mind if I slept?” Your words were quiet as you yawned once more. There was a soft smile on Jake’s face as he nodded.
Standing from the uncomfortable plastic chair, Jake stepped toward the door. “I’ll be in the hall if you need me.” And then he was gone. You weren’t sure why his words made you feel calm and protected or why the look he gave you before he left had your stomach fluttering. Your eyes slowly closed and the last thing on your mind before you let sleep pull you under was Jake. Even though you couldn’t remember Jake, you could have sworn that the two of you had a bond stronger than what friends had.
Jake knew that it was unlikely that you would call out for him. However, he couldn’t help but hope that even though you couldn’t remember him, you would feel like you could trust him.
When Jake stepped out of the room he was greeted by the sight of your doctor. The door closed softly behind him. “Mr. Seresin,” The older man started, a sombre look on his face. “I’m afraid I have some more unfortunate news.”

That's My Goddaughter
Tumblr media
Summary: Bradley might have told you he would back off if you started dating Jake, but what happens when he tells Maverick? Second part of Bradshaw’s Date
Word count: 2k
A/N: Here is part 2 of Bradshaw’s date! I hope you all enjoy this one as much as the first!! Thanks for reading!
Tumblr media
The look of bewilderment on Jake’s face was something Bradley would never forget. Maverick had been hounding Hangman all day to the point where others were starting to feel bad for him.
The group of them were sitting in one of their debriefs, where Mav was currently picking apart Jake’s near perfect run. Phoenix leaned over to Rooster and asked if he knew what was going on. The smug look on his face told her everything she needed to know. “What did you do, Bradshaw?”
Bradley was enjoying every second of today and would continue to enjoy it for many days to come. “I didn’t do anything. Hangman decided it was a good idea to take my sister out on a date last night.”
Bob choked on his water when he overheard what his teammate had said, drawing attention to the three of them. Hangman turned in his seat to see what was going on, but the second his eyes landed on Rooster, everything clicked. Phoenix leaned back in her seat and shook her head, “You’re in for it now.”
Bradley didn’t care in the slightest how Hangman felt. He was getting everything he thought he deserved. Mav dismissed the group but asked Jake to stay behind. The others walked out sending him looks of encouragement, knowing whatever conversation they were going to have, wasn’t going to go in his favor.
Jake remained in his seat in the front row, waiting for Maverick to explain what was going on. The look on Bradley’s face gave him a small insight to what this was going to be. He had hoped his teammate would leave personal business outside of work, but clearly that was asking for too much. It was karmas way of slapping him in the face.
“I’m going to come right out with it. Just because Bradley can’t do anything about it, doesn’t mean the same rules apply to me. That’s my Goddaughter and you better treat her a hell of a lot better than you cover your teammates out there. That girl is something special and you best believe I won’t be the only one keeping close tabs on you.”
All Jake could do was nod his head. He didn’t know if he was talking to his captain or Pete Mitchell and any comment he wanted to say wouldn’t go over well.
“For as long as you date her, expect every day to be like this. You will see no special treatment and will continue to be pushed harder than everyone else until I see you are good enough for her. Do I make myself clear?”
Jake let out a slow breath, “Yes, sir.”
Maverick dismissed him, but called out when he was near the door of the room.
“Oh, and Lieutenant, Admiral Kazansky sends his best.”
Just as Jake thought it couldn’t get worse, his body seemed to freeze at those last words. He had always wanted admirals to know his name, strived for it, but not like this. This was an abuse of power and there was nothing he could do about it but swallow his pride.
Jake was fuming as he made his way back into the locker room. While most of his teammates figured it was because of how Maverick made him look today, it was actually for a whole different reason.
The moment he walked through the door, all conversations stopped. Word had gotten around of what happened and opinions were formed because of it. But no one was dumb enough to say those opinions out loud to either guy.
Jake looked around the room until he spotted the one guy that was slowly pushing him over the edge. The cocky smirk was normally seen on the blonde pilot, but in this case, the roles were reversed, and Bradley was racking in every ounce of discomfort that was coming from him.
It didn’t take a genius to know Jake was furious. His usual slicked back hair was sticking up in a few places where he had run his hand through it. His cheeks have a slight pink tint to them that for once wasn’t because of the California heat. But what really stood out, was the silence. Jake was always quick to run his mouth and had a comeback for everything. So, when the pilot stood there and stared at Bradley, the others knew things were about to get ugly.
“Do you get off on the fact that you’re messing with your sister’s life?” Bradley’s smirk quickly fell when he heard the question directed at him.
“Excuse me?” Jake took a few steps towards him, making Coyote and Bob shift towards them in case they needed to break anything up.
“Because your sister told you to back off, you went and ran to Maverick about it, knowing he would be pissed. Well congratulations pal, Maverick is going to keep pushing me until I walk away. But for once did you ever think how your sister would feel if she found out what was going on?”
Bradley stood up now, fists clenched as he tried to keep his anger in check. “Are you threatening me?”
Jake let out an unamused laugh, “And here I thought I was the most self-absorbed person in the room. This isn’t about you. Hell, this isn’t even about me. Your sister told me last night that it was one of the first times where she felt happy and could let go of the past for a few hours. Being back here hasn’t only affected you, she lost her dad too. Her mom lost her husband in the same damn house ya’ll are staying in. While you went off into the Navy, she was the one who stayed back and took care of her.
“Did she ever tell you the number of stories your mom shared with her about your dad? About Top Gun and how much he loved flying with Maverick? Those memories have stayed with her to this day, making the move out here so damn hard for her. But now you have some personal vendetta to make sure my life is nothing but hell. Did you stop and think about how she would feel if I walked away because I didn’t want to deal with all this bullshit?”
Jake’s face was now red with rage, whole body tensed. He kept trying to put himself in Bradley’s shoes, but he couldn’t see himself doing this to one of his sisters. Not when the price was this high.
Bradley on the other hand had lost most of his color. He had zero idea his sister was unhappy following him out here and had only wanted to look out for her. He knew how ruthless Hangman was in the skies, but he didn’t think to separate that from his personal life. Yeah, the speech he gave that night had him second guessing a few things, but Jake was known to be a smooth talker. How was he supposed to know if he was telling the truth?
“And I hate to tell you this but I’m not giving up that easily. It’s going to take a hell of a lot more than Maverick telling me how to be better or Admiral Kazansky making his position known. Your sister is worth putting up with all of this and more. So do us all a favor and get over yourself.”
Jake grabbed his stuff out of his locker and slammed the door, not sparing anyone a second glance. The room was silent. Nothing could’ve prepared any of them for what just happened. Natasha glanced over at Bradley and saw how defeated he looked. The once gloating man was long gone as he processed everything that was said.
Bob went over to him and gave his shoulder a quick pat. A small show of support but he then proceeded to walk out of the room. Everyone slowly followed, not sure what else to do. Jake Seresin was always the villain of the story. No one ever questioned that. But today, roles were reversed, and the once golden boy of Bradley Bradshaw had now been painted as the new antagonist.
His phone started to vibrate, and he looked down to see that you were calling. After a few breaths to calm himself down, he answered.
“Hey, so I know you weren’t too thrilled about me going on a date with Jake. But I really appreciate you at least letting me leave the driveway last night. I promise he was the perfect gentleman. Even let me talk him into stopping for ice cream on the way home. Something you never let me do. Also, he told me how great of a teammate you are.” He snorted when you said that last part.
“Good try. I know he would never say that.” Your laugh on the other line confirmed that.
“It was worth a try. Anyway, I made dinner if you want it. I thought maybe we could stay in and watch a movie tonight. My way of saying thank you for not being psycho about all this.” Bradley shook his head knowing he was in fact acting like that.
“Yeah, that sounds good. I have to talk to Mav really quick and then I’ll be on my way home.” He had grabbed his stuff and slowly made his way out of the locker room to Maverick’s office.
“Oh, tell him I said hi and that he owes me dinner. I convinced Penny to give him a second chance. Tell him not to mess this one up. I can only work so many miracles.” Bradley smiled as he sat across from Mav.
“I’ll let him know. See you in a few.” He hung up and sighed. Mav was sitting at his desk with a knowing smile on his face, making Bradley feel even worse about the situation.
“A few things. First, I’m going to need you to lay off on Hangman. I appreciate you making him sweat a bit, but Y/N seems to really like him, and I don’t want to ruin that.” Maverick nodded his head and sat back in his chair.
“Are you sure? Ice and I had a whole good cop bad cop thing planned out. He was going to be the bad cop because he just has this stare that seems to pierce your soul. Used to give me nightmares back in the day.”
Bradley couldn’t help but chuckle, “Yeah, Mav. Thanks though. Also, she said you owe her dinner. Convinced Penny to give you a chance or something.” He watched Mav’s whole face light up.
“I owe that kid a whole lot more than dinner.” He watched as Bradley stood up and make his way to the door.
“I know you may not like this, but she has to grow up some time. I’d rather it be here where we can help her if she falls than halfway across the country. Seresin has his work cut out for him, but I think he’s a good choice for her. Cut yourself some slack though. She’s a lot like your mom in the sense that no one is going to stop her from doing what she wants.”
Bradley offered him a small smile and walked out. Maverick waited a few minutes to make sure he was gone and pulled out his phone to text Ice.
“The kid said to lay off, but what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him.”

Another Bad Date
Bradley Rooster Bradshaw x Reader
A/N: I haven't proof read this so it's probably terrible but here's a fluffy meet cute.
Summary: Reader meets Rooster
Tumblr media
The date starts worse than you were imagining... Tyler has already: ordered food for you, got you an alcohol free drink after you said you wanted a gin and tonic, commented on your figure and checked someone out across the room. You've not even been here 30 minutes and you need a reason to leave.
Excusing yourself to the ladies room, you take your bag to go text your best friend for help.
Scrolling quickly to find her name on WhatsApp you type your message:
I need an excuse to leave a date early
Phoenix is across town in the hard deck when her phone pings with the text message. Hangman comes up behind her to give her a beer but reads the text over her shoulder.
"Family member was in an accident; Friend is having a crisis; my ex just text me; I'm sick; I'm needed at work" he reels off his answers, placing the beer in her free hand. Phoenix gives him a look of disapproval in response.
"Don't read my texts Bagman!" She orders him.
"What does your friend look like, If she's hot I'll go be the crazy ex." Hangman winks at Phoenix.
"Absolutely not! It's Y/N, she's not your type and I'm not saving her from a shit date by pushing her in your direction." She states rolling her eyes as he smirks.
Nat this is urgent help me. You text again to chase up her answer, needing a response as soon as possible lest Tyler thinks you've got some form of gastrointestinal problem.
Sighing at her slow typing you exit the bathroom and collide straight into a tall brunette guy, dropping your phone in the process. "Shit, sorry." You instantly start apologising as he stabilises you, placing his hands on both of your shoulders.
"Are you good?" He asks moving his hands down your arms slightly, leaving goosebumps in their wake as you nod. "Yeah, are you?" You respond as he reaches down to grab your phone. He laughs slightly at your concern and says, "I'm bigger than I look, I think I can take it."
"You know Phoenix?" He queries, unable to stop himself looking at the screen as he hands your phone back over to you, enlarged on the contact photo of her from how you were holding it before you dropped it. "Yeah, I met Nat when she was in flight school. Guessing you're an aviator too?" You respond glancing him up and down to assess the outfit - not really something her associates would be caught dead in but he's toned and has got expensive sunglasses attached to his Hawaiian shirt so it's not completely out of the realm of possibilities.
He nods with a smile blossoming on his face. "Yes I am. I haven't seen you around before; I wouldn't forget that face." He remarks making you blush slightly.
"What do you do?" He asks unsure of whether you're in the Navy or know Phoenix through something else.
"I'm definitely not a pilot, as you can see I have zero hand eye coordination. I work for the government." You say with a giggle, not really telling him anything about your job.
"Ooh pretty and smart." He doesn't register himself thinking aloud until it is too late.
"What brings you to fighter town, this is literally the middle of nowhere." he remarks. You smirk slightly because he's right.
"Work asked me to come here for a bit... I live in Washington so not really used to having so little to do here." You comment.
"Do you want to get out of here and grab a drink?" He asks. You look between him and the table where your date is sat.
"Sorry if that's too forward, I haven't asked anyone out in ages... For all I know you're here with someone, there's no hard feelings if you say no." He waffles, nervous talking.
Your phone pings with a text presumably Nat responding to you.
"You're cute, I think I could make that happen." You say to the beautiful stranger whose name you're still unsure of.
You glance down at your phone to see a list of excuses signed off by Hangman. You roll your eyes having met and disliked Jake from the offset but his list gets so obscure by the end that you have to laugh.
"Boyfriend?" He raises an eyebrow, suddenly concerned that you are laughing at your phone.
"No but I am here with someone... I was literally just texting Nat for excuses to get out of the tinder date from hell, but it looks like Hangman has taken her phone judging by the unhinged message he just sent me." you explain the situation.
"He wants me to tell this guy that I've got to go because my fish drowned." you state in utter disbelief at Jake's list of excuses. The brunette chuckles across from you, and gives you such an animated smile that you feel your heart flutter in your chest.
"Give me two minutes to go let him down then we can leave." You state looking up from your phone and into his honey brown eyes.
"Okay, I'll go tell my friends that I am abandoning them then we can figure out where to go?" He questions raising his eyebrows. You nod in agreement and temporarily part ways.
*
Tyler has a momentary meltdown at you saying this is not going to work out and decides to start shouting at you from across the table. Bradley is back by your side in under a minute backing you up.
Once he's spoke Tyler down he grabs your hand and pulls your out of the restaurant.
"Thank you." You say squeezing his hand.
"No need to thank me, that guy was an asshole." he says making me smile slightly.
"Maybe if I went with the fish excuse he wouldn't have been so pissy." You mutter making him giggle.
Your phone pings with another text, Hangman still clearly has Nat's phone and has sent you a photo of your best friend head down on a bar. You smile at the photo, knowing he's gentleman enough to take her home and make sure she's okay.
You turns the phone around so Mr Hawaiian shirt can see what you're giggling at. "Ooh that looks messy! Thank god we don't have an early start tomorrow" He says sarcastically.
You're so glad that you don't have to deal with their kind of early starts... Morning people are unhinged.
"Do you want to go to the hard deck and meet up with them or should we go get food?" you ask him.
"Definitely food!!" He responds excitedly jumping.
"Great that's the right answer! Where's good around here?" you look to him for an answer. He looks around thinking for a minute.
"Nowhere in our immediately vicinity stands out but there's a really good place like 30 minutes away, they make a mean Hamburger." He exclaims.
You nod, "That sounds perfect, lead the way!"
"Whose car are we going in?" He asks me.
"I walked here from my hotel, so yours." I answer. I'm not afraid he's going to kill me because he just saved by life from my incel of a date who seemingly hates women, and I can see his dogtags under his shirt, so I know he's telling the truth about knowing Phoenix. That instantly put me at ease because she is an amazing judge of character.
"Where were you from before Washington, you sound English?" Bradshaw remarks.
"Yeah, I grew up over there in a tiny town in the Midlands... I moved here after uni." you answer.
"What did you study?" He asks walking alongside you to wherever he's parked.
"Pol sci and international relations." You respond.
You two mindlessly talk about your lives and what got you into your careers as you continue to walk to his car.
After what feels like twenty minutes of walking you stop and turn towards him. "Are you really shite at parking or something?" you question with a smirk held on your face.
He starts laughing.
"I got a lift here, I'm parked at my place." He responds grinning ear to ear. "It's just around the corner." He adds as you give him a look of disbelief.
You're watching him intently as you round the corner, noticing the sudden purpose in his step as he walks towards not a car but the front door to his apartment.
"I feel like I was warned about stranger danger." You say meeting his eye as you cross the threshold. The corner of his mouth lifts slightly into a smirk.
"You also agreed a burger in a place thirty minutes away was a good idea, so welcome to the only place that's good around here." He says leading you into his kitchen.
"Ah... Very smooth." You say as he swings open a cupboard door and raises two bottles in what you presumed was going to be a silent question: wine or gin.
"I can offer you some uncomfortably warm wine or gin... but I'm not sure if I have tonic?" he says raising his eyebrows, tone of voice implying he's asking you if he has tonic water somewhere.
"Wow, I can see why this is your favourite place around here. I bet the reviews are glowing." You tease him. Bradley doesn't verbalise the butterflies that break out in his stomach in response to your wink.
He laughs about to feel guilty for bringing you back here to his limited drinks options when he opens a different cupboard and pulls out a single can of tonic.
"Ah there we go - one of us can enjoy our evening." He says making you giggle.
He raises both again at your lack of a definitive answer.
"I want the gin but I feel bad that you only have one tiny tonic water... If you want that I'm good to go on the warm wine front." You respond and he gives you an unreadable look that you don't recognise.
"What was that look?" You whisper feeling oddly nervous at how good looking this man is.
"What look?" He whispers back, the look no longer visible on his face. His eyes are squinting, laughter lines visible on his face as he stares back at you full of a giddy playful energy.
You watch in silent amazement as he pours your drink without breaking your eye contact. You know without tonight going any further, without even knowing his name - this is not a one time thing.

london girl <3
jake “hangman” seresin x british!fem wife
soundtrack: London Boy by Taylor Swift™️
summary: the team is shocked when jake slips up and confesses that he has a wife. little do they know that he is head-over-heels for his wife and he gushes at how much he loves your accent 🤭
Tumblr media
“I love my hometown as much as Motown, I love SoCal and you know I love Springsteen, Faded blue jeans, Tennessee whiskey”
jake seresin wasn’t the type to get tied down. in his college days at UT it would be go to a bar, dance, get a girl, go home with them, then leave. he had quite the reputation when he got into the navy, too. cocky, didn’t care about anyone but himself. so, naturally, when the dagger squad was all at the hard deck playing pool and darts, they were shocked when hangman finally let it slip.
“phoenix, how is the boyfriend? finally scare him off yet?” bradley said, jokingly. jake let out an airy laugh.
“har har,” she said to bradley then turning to jake, “i wouldn’t be laughing, you’re the single, lonely one.”
“nope, got a woman i love at home.” he said, the look of realization on his face once he realized what he had said was priceless. the squad started laughing. no, not a short laugh, bradley is rolling on the ground crying.
“yeah right. good one bagman.” phoenix said.
he decided in that moment that it was time to come clean, after four years of being married and with a little girl on the way, he let it slip. “no i’m being dead ass.” jake said.
“no way. i don’t believe you.” phoenix said.
“believe me or not.” he said, throwing his hands up in defense. “but i do. we have been married for four years and we have a daughter on the way.” jake pulled out a folded picture from his front pocket of his khaki uniform and handed it to phoenix.
Tumblr media
“no fucking way, you’re tied down?” phoenix said in disbelief.
“yep, i’ll bring her by sometime! well that’s my cue, said too much and don’t wanna be drinking and driving because i wanna get home to my mrs.” jake yelled as he walked out of the doors of the hard deck, determined to get to his pregnant wife.
“But something happened, I heard her laughing, I saw the dimples first and then I heard the accent. They say home is where the heart is, but that's not where mine lives”
“darling. i don’t think they will like me. i’m not like you guys.” you say, growing self conscious of your 7 month pregnant belly.
“sweets, they are going to love you! i promise. we have to leave in about 5 minutes!” he yells after he kisses you on the cheek and walks into the mud room.
“don’t forget to feed the animals! i’ll go out and feed the horses while you do the cows, sheep and the goats!” you yell from across the house.
“gotcha sweets!!” your lovely husband yelled from across the house at you.
(time skip to the hard deck)
“you go ahead to your friends, this pregnant lady has to pee for the twentieth time today.” you said, walking away laughing.
“be safe! we will be over by the pool tables!” jake yells as he walks towards the pool tables that all his friends are surrounding and talking.
“seresin, as i live and breathe!” bradley said, sarcastically.
“hey bradshaw!” jake said.
“where is your imaginary wife at? chicken out and not bring her? oh wait, she isn’t real!!” payback butt in and said.
“who’s not real?” you say as you waddled up to the group.
“hey sweets!” your husband drawls out with that accent you love. “we were just talking about you!”
“all good thing i hope!” you say.
“so, i guess you are real! sorry, we are all just a little surprised when bagman told us. how did you guys meet?” phoenix asked you.
“well i was at a flower festival in San Diego with my best mates and we went to a pub after that was near and jake here was there because he was stationed nearby.” you started.
“i was with javy grabbing a few beers after our training and i went up to the bar to get us another round, but something happened, I heard her laughing, I saw the dimples first and then I heard the accent. and i instantly fell in love. i knew i had to have her.” he said.
“oh don’t even! i knew i had to have you when i saw you and i heard your sexy accent.” you said, side-hugging him.
“aw you guys are so cute!” phoenix gushed.
“You know I love a London girl, I enjoy walking Camden Market in the afternoon. she likes my American smile, Like a child when our eyes meet, darling, I fancy you. Took me back to Highgate, met all of her best mates, So I guess all the rumors are true. You know I love a London girl. girl, I fancy you (ooh)”
“when we got married, for our honeymoon we went to London so i could show him around my home city! i took him to the Camden Market and he won’t admit it but he enjoys it.” you say.
“ okay okay, you caught me. i do like it.” jake admits.
“hey jake?” you say.
“yes sweets?” he replied.
“i need a break.” you told your husband.
“okay i got you, baby.” jake said, he went behind you as you kept talking with the group and lifted up your baby bump. you let out a sigh of relief.
“thank you.” you say, breathless.
“okay!” phoenix exclaimed, “Jake is a real softy! i’m jealous because you are both so madly in love and i wish i had that with Marcus.”
“oh i bet Marcus loves you a lot!” you say, trying to convince her.
“oh no, not like how jake loves you. even the way he looks at you! i’m jealous!!” she says.
“he does not look at me in any way!” you told her. “right jake?” you say, craning your neck to look at your lover behind you.
“huh?” he says, snapping out of his daze.
“see? my point exactly!” phoenix points out.
“oh shut up jake.” you say, laughing and walking away with phoenix.
“what did i do?” jake asked himself, quietly. “what did i say?” he asked coyote, who was right next to him to witness it all.
coyote put his hands up in defense. “nope, that’s on you.” coyote then walked away towards you, chuckling.
“NO SERIOUSLY!” jake yelled across the bar.

Part 2
You turned your head to the direction the voice had come from. You stood there in shock, words caught in your throat as you met his eyes.
"This isn't real." You thought. "I must be hallucinating."
But as you scanned the group, you saw that they all wore the same horrified look of shock as you did.
"B—B—Bradley?" You stuttered out. "Are you real?" You asked. You weren't sure if you wanted him to answer. You felt like you were going to be sick.
"I'm very real." He responded before taking a step towards you.
Your eyes grew even wider. You could feel your heart pounding rapidly in your chest. You looked from him to Jake, to your friends, and back to him.
You felt hot all over, and your palms were sweating. You felt like you couldn't get enough oxygen in your lungs. The world was spinning as you tried to process everything. You were sure you looked like a crazed animal, and you could feel everyone's eyes on you.
You saw Maverick out of the corner of your eye approaching you. His hands reaching out towards you. You could see his mouth moving, you knew he was speaking to you, but you couldn't hear him.
Panic set deep in your chest. You tried to say something, but your mouth was dry. It was all too much. You couldn't process what was happening. You took a shakey step towards Maverick before collapsing in his arms.
Both Jake and Rooster rush forward to help him. Jake reached your limp body first. "Here, Mav, let me take her inside," He says.
Rooster immediately pushes him out of the way. "Absolutely not Bagman, she's my wife, or did you forget that?" Rooster spits out.
"You've also been missing and presumed dead for the past two years, Bradshaw." Jake argues back. Both of them straighten to their full heights and puff out their chests.
"How about Phoenix and I take her inside." Bob says, stepping between the two of them, trying to diffuse the situation.
"That sounds like a good idea, Bob. We'll get everything cleaned up out here, and then Pete and I will take Nick for a bit while you all, em— talk, " Penny says.
Bob scoops you up while Phoenix helps him get you to your bedroom and lay you down. The two of them take a seat at your reading nook, ready for when you wake up.
The rest of the squad cleans everything up. Rooster goes inside, heading for the kitchen to get a drink. Jake stays outside.
Once finished, Penny shoos everyone away and grabs Nick. She knows that she and Pete have everything he needs at their home in case he needs to stay with them. Before they leave, Maverick stops to speak to Jake.
"Do you want me to stay?" He asks. "No, Mav, I'll be fine." Jake assures him. Maverick gives him a small smile before he and Penny leave.
Rooster paces the kitchen like a caged animal. His hands are shaking as he takes another sip of his whiskey.
In the bedroom, you shoot up with a gasp. "Easy there." Phoenix says coming to comfort you.
"Phe, Bob, I just had the most disturbing dream. It was Nick's birthday party, and Bradley—Bradley just walked through the door, and Jake—Jake proposed to me. It was—" you couldn't finish before crying.
"Honey," Phoenix softly touched your shoulder. "That wasn't a dream. Rooster's here. Everything happened so fast. Jake was down on one knee, Rooster walked outside and you fainted." She explained.
"Oh my god, I'm going to be sick!" You exclaimed before running into the en suite and throwing up.
You brush your teeth and step back out. "Where is he now? Where's Nick?" You ask them. "Mav and Penny had everyone clean up, and they took Nick with them. But I'm pretty sure Rooster and Jake are still downstairs. " Bob tells you. "They're going to kill each other." You state trying not to cry.
Your hands are shaking, and Bob comes to comfort you. "Why don't we stay here for a few minutes so you can calm down?" He suggests. You nod in agreement, trying to control your breathing.
"Rooster." Jake begins stepping into the living room.
"It's—it's good to see you." He says.
"Save it, Seresin." Rooster spits out. "I don't want your small talk. I want to know what the fuck was going on out there. My wife? You could have anyone in the world, but you go after my WIFE!?" Rooster yells at him
"Bradshaw, in case you didn't know, you've been missing and presumed dead for almost two years. How were we supposed to know you'd just roll back up out of the blue?!" Jake says, trying to stay calm.
"I knew you always had a crush on her, and the minute I'm out of the picture, you swooped in, didn't you?" Rooster turns to face him, slamming his hands down on the kitchen island.
"No. It didn't happen like that. The whole squad has been looking after her and Nick. Me more than anyone because we're neighbors. She became my best friend after you, supposedly passed. She asked me to be Nick's godfather because she said it was what you wanted. I didn't mean for any of this to happen. It just did!" Jake defends himself.
"How long has it been going on? Did you at least wait until I was declared dead?" Rooster prods.
"It's only been about six months, Rooster." After the accident, they searched for you for like six weeks. Which where the hell have you been by the way?" Jake changes the subject.
"I washed up on a beach in Mexico in front of a resort. Didn't know who I was. The only thing I remembered was that my name was Rooster. The owners took me in and gave me a job, and took care of me. A week and a half ago, I was playing football on the beach with some of my coworkers and took a ball to the head. Everything came flooding back. The resort owners helped me get in touch with the Navy and get back home. Does that answer your question?" Rooster sassed back.
"That's crazy man. We're really are all glad you're okay." Jake softens.
"Don't try to be nice to me know." Rooster states before taking another drink.
"Six months? You've been dating my wife for SIX MONTHS and decided to propose to her?" Rooster glares at him.
"Yes, Rooster. What do you want me to say?" Jake sighs.
"Have you slept with her?" Roosters voice drops.
Jake sucks in a deep breath. His eyes dart around the room
"Have you slept with her?" Rooster asks him again, more forcefully this time.
"Yes." Jake admits.
"When? When was the first time?" Rooster grips his glass so hard it could shatter.
"About six months ago. It was the one year anniversary of your death. She was hurting and asked me to come over. We talked, and she was really conflicted about moving on. And I just told her that you would want her to be happy and that if she did start dating, she wasn't doing anything wrong. I told her that she was a great person and that anyone would be lucky to have her. Then she kissed me." Jake confesses.
"She kissed me, and I tried to stop her, but I was weak. After that, it just spiraled from there." Jake tells him.
Rooster stands there silent. "Jake I—" He doesn't know what to say.
"I can't fucking believe you man!" Rooster shouts at him. Tears sting his eyes.
"Well, what do you want from me, man?!" Jake shouts at him.
"I WANT YOU TO APOLOGIZE FOR FUCKING MY WIFE!" Rooster shouts at him.
Any ounce of self-control Jake had left in that moment.
"I'm not going to apologize for something I'm not sorry for Bradshaw. I don't regret it, and if I had to go back and do it all again, I would." Jake says, sticking the metaphorical knife in Roosters chest.
"What Rooster? Scared that she won't choose you now that you're back? Afraid she won't run back into your arms? Are you worried that I fucked her better than you every could?" Jake seethed. He knew it was a low blow, but he didn't care.
"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Rooster screamed before launching his glass at Hangman's head. Jake ducked just in time for it to fly over him and smash against the wall. He shot Rooster a cocky grin.
Bradley jumped over the kitchen counter, ready to attack.
You, Phoenix, and Bob heard the commotion and ran downstairs. You were horrified at the scene before you. Rooster and Jake were trading blows. Phoenix and Bob tried to pull them apart, but they wouldn't listen.
"Stop it! Both of you STOP!" You shrieked. Both men froze and looked at you.
They broke apart and tried to explain themselves. You looked them both over, bloody and bruised. You weren't sure who to go to first. Everyone's eyes were on you before you finally spoke.
"Jake, I think you should go." You said in a small voice.
"Honey, please—" He tried to reason with you.
"Jake, Rooster is still my husband. You need to leave, please." You choked out.
Jake wanted to argue, but you had been through so much today. He hung his head, grabbed his things, and left. Bob helped you clean the mess they made while Phoenix cleaned up and scolded Rooster.
After they left, Rooster took a shower and got ready for bed. You'd never taken his things and put them away, so he didn't have any trouble finding what he needed. After he was done, you slipped in to clean yourself and calm down. You came into the bedroom wearing your sleep clothes.
Rooster was sitting on the bed. You sat down next to him, and he explained everything that had happened over the past two years to you.
He listened and took it all it. When he was finished, you hugged him. You were stiff in his arms. He kissed you. It felt forgien but you let him. But the moment he tried to touch you, you pulled away. You couldn't do this yet. He'd been gone so long, he was a stranger to you.
You tried to explain your feelings to him, but anger flashed in his eyes as he wordlessly got up and left. You heard the door to the guest room slam. You cried yourself to sleep that night.
Over the next week, you and Rooster tried to fall back into your normal lives. Nick instantly took up with him, knowing exactly who he was.
Jake had been avoiding you, simply texting you to see if you were okay.
Things seemed to be getting better, but you still hadn't slept with Rooster yet. The Saturday after Nick's party, Penny and Mav offered to keep Nick so the two of you could have some alone time.
That's how you found yourself under Rooster in your bed as his hips drove into you. You were sleeping with him partly because you wanted to, and partly because you felt like you had to.
The sex wasn't bad. The two of you had been doing this for five years, Rooster knew your body and what made you tick.
Your fingers dug into his back as you approached your finish.
Waves of pleasure fell over you as your legs shook. It almost felt normal. As you reached your peak, you opened your mouth and screamed, "Oh, Jake, yes!"
Rooster immediately stopped. "What did you just say?" It took your brain a minute to catch up to you.
"Bradley, I, I'm so sorry." You tried to apologize.
He jumped off the bed and screamed in frustration. His eyes landed on the framed wedding photo of the two of you. He grabbed it and launched it across the room.
You yelped and jumped off the bed and quickly pulled your clothes back on.
"Rooster, baby, please." You tried to reason with him. Tears slipped down your cheeks.
He didn't respond to you. Instead, he started throwing everything off the bed like a crazed man.
Soon, he was pulling the mattress off the frame and dragging it down the stairs and tossing it outside.
"Bradley, what are you doing?" You asked, shrinking back into the room.
"I'll be DAMNED if I sleep in the same bed he fuck you in!" He yelled at you.
Before you could do anything else, his strong hands grabbed the bed frame, and he began tearing it apart.
Wood splintered as he cursed Jake and you.
You were terrified. You didn't know the man in front of you. He certainly wasn't the man you married.
You sobbed as you ran out of the room. You went downstairs and grabbed your phone and charger before retreating into the guestroom and locking the door.
You pushed a chair in front of it, too, for extra safety. You sunk down on the bed. You were so thankful Nick wasn't here tonight. You thought about calling Jake, but you were afraid it would make things worse.
After Rooster had finished destroying the bed, he looked around. The room was in chaos, and you were nowhere to be found. He went downstairs and saw your phone was gone, but your keys weren't. He made his way to the guest bedroom. He tried the door. Locked.
"Honey. Honey—I'm sorry." He cried. He stood outside the door, begging you to open it, but you didn't.
Eventually, you fell into a fitful sleep, and Rooster passed out in the hallway in front of the door.
He woke up and rose from the floor. You still had the door locked.
"Baby, I'm sorry, please can we talk? You can't stay in there forever. I know you're hungry." He tried to reason with you.
He was right. You were starving, but you refused to leave.
Rooster understood why you weren't coming out. He headed to the kitchen and grabbed a few snacks and drinks for you and a change of clothes. He put them in a basket and left them outside the door.
"Honey, I'm leaving some things for you out here. I promise I won't try to come in. Just please get them. He said before heading back upstairs to call Maverick. Once the sounds of his steps faded. You quickly opened the door, grabbed the basket, and retreated.
A few hours later, you heard Maverick come, and he and Rooster cleaning, and then you heard them leaving.
Later, you heard them return and the sounds of heavy things being moved upstairs.
What you didn't know is that Maverick made Rooster clean up his mess and then go out to get a new mattress and bed to replace the one he'd destroyed. They'd also picked up a few things for you and some flowers. The whole time, Maverick had been trying to reason with Rooster and explain to him what it had been like for you in his absence.
"I mean Bradley, what do you expect? You've been gone for almost two years and then just show up out of the blue without contacting us first. I mean, we're happy you're alive, but you don't know what it was like. I was there when she grieved you. I held her at your funeral. I made sure she was okay after giving birth to your son. Jake took care of her when I couldn't. He made sure she and your little boy were looked after. You're a stranger to her right now. You can't just expect to pick back up where you left off. You weren't there to talk her off the ledge. He was"
Maverick finished his speech by telling him that Goose and Carole would be disappointed in him.
Roostet took his words to heart. Before he left, Maverick managed to coax you out of hiding.
You went upstairs and saw what they had done. Rooster got on his knees and tearfully begged for your forgiveness.
You both cried and held each other. Rooster swore to you he would never do that again, and he would do whatever it took to be a better man for you.
You cried harder. Finally, the two of you calmed down. After a few minutes of silence, Rooster suggested you two get something to eat. You were about to gladly agree, but suddenly, the idea of eating made you nauseous.
You lept up from your seat and ran to the bathroom. You heaved into the toilet and emptied the contents of your stomach into it.
You took a moment to catch your breath.
You headed to the sink to brush your teeth, but you froze the moment you opened the cabinet door.
There, next to your toothbrush, was an unopened box of tampons.
"Oh shit."

Long Missions!
Valorant Agents reacting to their S/O going on a long mission
(Gekko, Chamber, Phoenix, Sage)
CW : GN!Reader, eating (Chamber), mentions of sadness (Sage), mentions of anxiety (Chamber & Sage), sexual hints (Phoenix)
A/N : I’ve seen a lot of the Sage requests I got and thought she would be a fun one to add to this! I’m currently writing a lot so if I haven’t gotten to your request - it’s not on purpose!
Masterlist
Gekko :
He will BEG Brim to let him go with you. (Brim continues to say no.)
“Babe, I get we are saving the world and stuff but how am I going to sleep alone now.”
100% acts like the world is ending the last day.
“Y/N, hurry and come here! I need to hold you for one last second.. I want to remember how you feel!”
When you go to leave he will continue to wave goodbye and pretend to run with the jet.
“Don’t forget me babe!! I love you!!”
Gekko’s fingers dusted your cheek as the two of you laid in bed. He had just gotten done complaining for what felt like the five hundredth time about your upcoming mission.
“I don’t see why Brimstome won’t let me go. I am a total help to the team! Plus, imagine how lonely I’m going to be at home. Babe, you gotta do something about it!”
“Mateo, what in the world am I supposed to do?” You raised an eyebrow, watching as his chestnut hues fell.
“I don’t know.. Maybe give me a kiss?” He leaned forward, a grin spreading across his face.
You could only roll your eyes, leaning in to peck his lips.
“I’ll give you as many as you want if you stop complaining, dork.”
Chamber :
I just KNOW he sets up a special dinner.
If you don’t want to go out he will surprise you with it at home.
His darling has to have a comforting last day before they leave!
Long talks at the table & him discussing plans with you to make sure you’re okay. (And to put his anxieties at ease.)
He’s the type to rest on the couch with some soft music playing & just rubs your back. It makes him feel super close to you!
When you leave he will give you a kiss and a pat, threatening Brim to take care of you out there.
“You make sure to give Y/N backup, yes? If you don’t we will have problems..”
“Mon amour, are you okay? You haven’t ate much.” Chamber picked at his food, giving you a questioning look.
To be honest, you were worried about tomorrow. Brimstone had asked you to come along on a tedious mission for the whole week. You could already feel your bones aching and the longing for your bed and you hadn’t even left yet!
You shook your head, stabbing at the food your boyfriend made.
“Fine, Vin. I’m just stressed about the upcoming week. I know we went over everything, I am just not looking forward to it.”
Vincent hummed, leaning across the table to give you a forehead kiss.
“That’s a normal response, love. Let’s finish up and we can go lay down. Sound good?”
Phoenix :
“So you’re going without me. WOW. My own partner hates me.” (he is so sarcastic)
He takes you to the practice range to make sure you’re ‘top notch’ before leaving.
Be real though.. he finds your shooting hot and y’all end up making out.
“I guess I can see why Brim chose you. Still won’t be as bright as me though.”
Right before you leave, Phoenix gives you one of his jackets and a kiss on the cheek.
“Be safe, darling. I love you.”
“I cannot believe that Brimstone doesn’t think I’m fit for this mission! I mean come on.. You, me. We are the dream team!” Phoenix exasperated, hands flailing in the air. You could only snort as he continued to complain, pacing back and forth.
“I mean.. Who else would be there to protect you? Well.. More like you would protect me. That’s beside the point! I’m going to miss you.” Phoenix smirked, face touching yours.
“Oh yeah? How much?” You smiled, waiting for his snarky remark.
“Mm.. Why don’t I just show you.”
Sage :
She is a bit anxious but knows you will do fine!
“I will miss you a lot. I hope everything goes smoothly out there.”
She is really affectionate and makes sure that you’re mentally prepared to face enemies!
Cuddles in bed and a movie the night before!!
When you go to leave she will give you encouraging words & a kiss!
“You are so strong. I believe in you, my gem. I love you.”
Sage’s hand was wrapped in yours, head resting on your chest. Everytime she wasn’t invited on a mission you were going on she would get sad - not that she would ever admit that. The two of you had been cuddling in bed and watching her favorite movie in hopes to raise the mood.
You looked down at your girlfriend, her eyes drooped and her breathing was slowing down. You used your other hand to rub through her slick hair, bringing a kiss down to her forehead.
“Goodnight, my angel. I love you.”
A small smile appeared on her face, hand gripping at the material of your t-shirt.
“Night, honey. I love you too. Sleep well.”

Fix it.
Robert ‘Bob’ Floyd x reader
Summary: Hangman offers to help Bob with a crush he has on the Hard Decks barmaid.
Warnings: Swearing, degradation of women, use of the term slut, mentions of sex, degradation during sex, mild mention of wanting to crash a plane, misogyny, inaccuracies about women and daddy issues, throwing a drink in someone's face, the term bumping uglies is used and I feel like that should be a warning.
Word Count: 4003
Author's note: So, this is the first time I have ever written for Top Gun, I know nothing about the military, so please forgive me. But, here it is, and I hope you all like it. Also, I obviously do not believe the nonsense about women and daddy issues or any of the other degrading things said about women, It is all to further the story. Please remember to be kind. And remember, do not tolerate, let alone fall for, anyone who degrades you!
____
“So, tell me little Bobby Boy”, the chair squeaked across the linoleum floor as Hangman turned it around, taking a seat across from Phoenix and Bob, who were clearly engaged in a private conversation, “were my eyes deceiving me or were you blushing when you were talking to Penny’s new pretty little barmaid?” Neither the scowl on Phoenix’s face nor the blush on Bob’s could be prevented, and these both deepened the smirk on Hangmans.
“What’s it to you Bagman?” There were very specific moments Bob was thankful for Phoenix, and intercepting hangman when they all knew he was about to get too much was one of them. The ever deepening crush on ‘Penny's new pretty little barmaid’ was something Bob was hoping to just, kind of, get through. He was well aware that this was something that was never going to happen and he needed it to blow over, now.
So Phoenix sitting here quietly trying to encourage him to ask for your number was not helping squash any and all hope he had that he MIGHT get the courage to ask, but now he also had Bagman asking questions on top of it? What happened to the days where no one noticed him?
“Well, you see, I myself had my eyes on her, but the second I saw Baby On Board over here looking redder than Rooster after a game of DogFight, I knew I had to do my good deed of the week and help my man out over here.” Phoenix felt her annoyance rise the longer she stared at that godforsaken toothpick hanging out of his mouth. Bobby didn’t need help, not from Hangman at least.
“I’ve got it, but thanks Bagman” Phoenix twisted in her chair, fully facing Bob’s side profile now, the man in question focusing on a spot on the table in front of him, hoping they’d forget he was even there at this point while he tried to get his own blushing under control.
“Ah! So he does have a crush on her!” Hangman's voice carried across the room causing the other Daggers to start paying more attention to what was happening in the once seemingly quiet corner of the room.
“Who has a crush on who now?” Rooster made his way over, mimicking Hangman as he took the chair next to him and spun it round, heaving himself into it as he waited for an explanation. Coyote, Fanboy and Payback all sauntered after him, the entire table now surrounded, Bob’s head dropping even lower, eyes scrunched shut, refusing to push his glasses further up his nose from where they had begun slipping down in fear of moving and drawing attention to himself.
“Bob has a crush on the new barmaid” Hangmans gaze hadn’t left Phoenix’s glaring eyes and that shit eating grin had yet to leave his face.
“Oh shit! No wonder he was so willing to get the drinks Friday night then.” a large hand came down on the table in front of them, the loud noise causing Bob to jump, a bewildered (and very red looking face) turning to Phoenix, a silent plea to get them out of this situation.
“Well, yes, but we don’t need-” Phoenix tried, she really did, but when these men got in on information like this, it was hard to get them out of it again.
“So, when are you making your move?” Fanboys' question was innocent enough, but considering he was one of the few pilots that knew Bob a little better than the rest, just after Phoenix, it was a fairly dumb question and the alarmed look on Bob's face was indication enough of that.
And if the look on Bob’s face wasn’t enough, the look of exasperation on Phoenix’s was.
“We were working on getting Bob to that point before Hangman over here,” an accusatory finger was thrown in the offender's direction, “interrupted me”.
“And here I was to extend a helping hand. It’s kind of seeming like you aren’t all that appreciative of that help here Bobby Boy” the entire table, other than Phoenix (again, thank you Phoenix), was now staring directly at Bob.
“That’s a little rude of you Bob” Cyotes voice could be heard behind him.
Roosters popping up next, “Yeah Bob, the man’s just trying to help.”
“Since when are you siding with Bagman of all people!” Phoenix couldn’t believe what she was hearing. How had all of these men, who seemingly couldn't stand Hangman, suddenly be siding with him.
“Since he knows how to work women. The least Bob could do would be to hear him out.” Payback tried to offer a voice of reason, knowing that when it came to Phoenix and Hangman though, it was probably falling on deaf ears.
“Work women! Are you hearing yourself?” She needed to get Bob out of here quickly.
“Listen, he has a point. Just, the goal is to get Bob and this girl together-” Rooster began before Phoenix interrupted him.
“No, the goal is to get him to have courage to ask for her number.”
“You’re thinking too small. Bobby’s a good looking guy, we can get him laid.” Bobs head shot up, wide eyes meeting Hangman’s own, more relaxed face, which was now looking directly at him, “So, what do you say? Want big ol’ Hangman's help to get you laid?”
“I don’t, it’s not really like that.” Bob muttered out weakly. I mean, yes, the thought of potentially bedding you was definitely something he didn’t want to discount, but it was more than that.
He wanted to date you. He wanted to ask for your number and talk to you for two weeks to a month over the phone and at the Hard Deck and then he wanted to ask you on a real date. And then he wanted to go on more dates and he wanted to ask you to be his girlfriend and then well, if in any of that you thought he deserved it, yeah, he wanted to bed you. If he ever got the courage to do any of that, but that’s what he wanted. That was the game plan.
“Of course it’s like that. Do you or do you not want to bump uglies?” The round of ew’s did nothing to deter Hangman from the question.
“I, well, of course I want to bed her.” Bob couldn't help but beg for the ground beneath him to open up and so he could just fall into it, but Bob also knew that he rarely got so lucky.
“Bed her?”
“He means ‘fuck’ Bagman”
“Ah, thank you Rooster. But also, bed her? Seriously? Even bump uglies sounds better than that.” Hangman knew he was just getting a rise out of Bob at this point, the kick beneath the table directly into his shin from Phoenix a sharp warning to drop it, “Regardless, you’ve got our help there friend. Don’t you worry, I’ll have her eating out of your hand by the end of the night, that is a guaranteed promise.”
“Bob, listen, this is a bad idea. This is Hangman for gods sake, do you honestly think this is going to go well?” Phoenix was trying her best to dissuade him from agreeing to Hangmans help.
Bob swung his gaze between the two pilots, completely unsure of what to do. On one hand, Hangman did kind of know what he was doing when it came to women. He was frequently leaving the Hard Deck with them to get up to what Bob can only assume was some pretty disgusting activities, but on the other hand, Phoenix was completely right, this was Hangman they were talking about, one of the most cocky and degrading men any of them had ever known.
But he needed to make a call, and desperate times call for desperate measures, and Lord knows Bob was desperate for you to notice him.
“What do I need to do?” It was almost a whisper directed at Hangman followed by a groan from Phoenix and a round of cheers from the others.
“Bobby, you will not regret this, I promise you, and honestly, I’m willing to start your lessons on women right here, right now.” He swung towards Phoenix, his smile so wide Phoenix had to do everything physically possible not to wipe it off with her fist.
“The most important thing you need to remember when it comes to women,” Hangman was now looking back at Bob, who was leaning forward, attentive as always, praying this would be the lifeline he needed when it came to you, “they love what they think they can’t have and they LOVE it when you call them a slut.” The sound of Hangman and Coyotes hands meeting in a high-five was heard, shortly followed by a chair being shoved away from the desk they were currently sitting at as Phoenix rose to her feet.
“Jesus, Bob, don’t you dare come crawling to me when this goes balls up.” With one final scowl directed at hangman she was leaving the group of men, a last middle finger thrown up as a “Bye Phoenix” was shouted after her from the cockiest pilot known to man, deciding to leave whatever this mess was alone for good.
_____
“So you decided to come anyway?” Rooster asked as Phoenix settled next to him, watching the pool game happening between Fanboy and Payback, both pilots taking a sip of their individual beers.
“Came to see the shit show.” Her eyes landed on Bob and Hangman in the corner. The latter vividly talking as if he was instructing a boxer in the corner of the ring before their next round.
“I know you have your doubts, but Hangman can actually be a good man. He isn’t trying to hurt Bob, he’s just trying to help as best as he knows how.” Rooster just shrugged as Phoenix let out a sigh, both knowing what he had just said was completely true.
“I know, but God, saying women like to be called a slut?” she threw Rooster a disapproving look, concerned at the smile on her friends face.
“He explained it to Bob after you left. He meant it purely from a sex perspective. Like, you know when you’re going at it and you say ‘such a good little slut, just for me’ kind of vibe? None of us actually think women are sluts, especially not the ones willing to sleep with us. Honestly, we’re all just really thankful they are willing to even sleep with us.” Rooster tried to placate Phoenix.
“Even Hangman?” She wasn’t going to stop until he had been knocked down a peg or two.
“You didn’t hear it from me, but especially Bagman. He speaks like that to get a rise out of you, but honestly, he’s actually terrifyingly respectful. I'm pretty sure he even hates calling women anything degrading in bed. I think he’d prefer to be called something gross and degrading now that I think about it.” Rooster could only shrug at the alarmed look Phoenix had given him at the new i information he had casually dropped on her, “You know that bullshit that women with daddy issues like to be degraded? Well, I never met anyone with bigger daddy issues than Bagman over there, and that’s coming from me.” A knowing look following the statement.
Phoenix couldn't find a surface to place her beer fast enough before she was letting out a full belly laugh at what Rooster had just told her, her drink spilling all over her hand as she tried to picture Hangman of all people begging a woman to call him her pretty little slut. She hated that Rooster made sense, but yeah, it fit. Suddenly she felt like she understood Hangman just that much better.
Suddenly Coyote was rushing into the little section the dagger squad had carved out for themselves, “Shut up! She’s coming! Act natural!”
“We can shut up or we can act natural, you gotta choose here bud” Hangman was the first to address the confusion caused by their friend, “Bob, it’s your time to shine, here she comes”, a final clap on the back and Hangman was making his way over to Rooster and Phoenix to watch how well his own little protege did trying to pick up you up.
As Bob watched you walk over with their drinks all neatly lined up on a tray, he tried to calm himself down, replaying all the lessons Hangman had taught him in his mind, reminding himself he could actually do this.
This was all just to get your attention.
You just needed to know he existed.
Women like what they can't have.
Women liked being called a slut.
Yes, that was it. That's what Hangman had said.
Why was he so sweaty?
Women like what they can't have.
Women liked being called a slut.
“You look like a slut.”
A silence descended over the entire area. All eyes, wide, now focusing on Bob. Music was the only thing that could be heard between any of them. No one is willing to move out of fear alone.
Although to him, all he could hear was his own blood pounding in his ears, nerves fully taking over. But he did it and now he was just waiting for you to fall at his feet, at least, that's what Hangman told him would happen.
Although this, this felt wrong. He had messed up. He knew he had messed up somehow, but his brain wasn’t working fast enough for him to figure it out.
“Excuse me?” You were the first to speak up after Bob’s faux pas.
“Oh, I said, you look like a slut.” From there, the entire group watched events unfold in slow motion.
“No Bob! It’s -” Before Hangman could interject, you’d already thrown a drink over him. Bob covered head to toe in someone's beer, “rhetorical.”
“Get out Bobby Floyd!” Your look was icy, finger pointed towards the Hard Decks doors.
“Yes Ma’am.” Bob knew better than to argue with you. He immediately got up, head down, tail between his legs and made his way to the doors, praying he could get out of there as quickly as possible, making promises that he’d never step foot into the Hard Deck again, mentally figuring out how to crash his plane tomorrow.
Hangman could feel Phoenix seething next to him, against his better judgment he turned to look at her only to find her already staring holes into him, “You have 24 hours to fix it Hangman, before I shoot you out of the sky myself,” and with that she was gone, following Bob outside, but not before she was profusely apologizing to you, promising that this was not Bob.
_____
Bob isn’t sure how Phoenix had convinced him to come to the Hard Deck tonight, but here he was outside its doors, breathing deeply as he tried to convince himself to step inside.
And if he happened to see you, well, the written out three page apology was ready. He had no shame in groveling if it got you to forgive him.
One last deep breath and he made his way in, beelining for the pool table where he knew Phoenix was waiting for him. He couldn’t give a damn about anyone else there, actively making the choice to ignore every single one of them. He knew technically it wasn’t their fault, it was him, he was the one who had messed it up, but this felt right.
And if he had gotten an extra confidence boost from telling Bagman to fuck off the next day at work in front everyone, well, that was no one else’s business but his.
The air was awkward, everyone could feel it, everyone was being extra nice to him and despite him being polite, he was still avoiding actually entertaining conversation with anyone else except Phoenix, until “Hey Bob, you need a drink, go get one.” He glared at Hangman, the other pilot only shrugging his shoulders, nudging his head in the direction of the bar.
“Go, I know you don’t trust him, but trust me, go get your drink.” It was Phoenix, giving him a slight push off his stool. As he made his way to the bar, already getting his apology pages out of his pocket, he noticed the entire dagger squad quietly watching him make his way over. He felt bitter, but he knew that he had to do this. He was ready to beg.
“Bob,” it was Penny leaning over the bar, lemonade in hand, a smirk firmly plastered on her face as she handed it over to him, “I think you owe this bar a round of drinks considering last week's indiscretion.”
“Ma’am, a round of drinks for the bar is probably the least I could do considering what I did,” Bob ran a hand over his face as Penny cackled, making her way over to the bell, its humiliating ring sounding throughout the bar, all the patrons giving a loud cheer as the prospect of a free drink from a stranger who had somehow wronged the bar owner.
“Who fucked up this time Pen?” Your voice sounded out as you made your way back around the bar from the kitchen, clearly not having noticed Bob yet, but when you did, a smile a mile wide graced your face and Bob felt both humiliated and blessed all at once, “Ah, I assume this is penance for his sins of last week?” You and Penny shared a knowing look, and Bob wished he was in on the joke instead of the butt of it.
“And he will be paying for it.” Penny let out one more laugh as she slapped the top of her bar and gave a quick look around at how full her bar was this evening, knowing this was going to take a hefty chunk out of Bob's money, throwing Bob a wink as she left you two to talk.
“I’m sorry.” Bob wanted to get this over with as soon as possible. He had felt awful all week and he needed to make amends and find out how he could fix this as soon as he could.
“Why on earth would you get Hangman to help you get  a girl's number?” Bob froze, you knew. You knew he had needed someone else's help to try and flirt with you. He might not have crashed his plane last week, but tomorrow, it was definitely happening tomorrow.
“I will regret doing that until the day I die.” Bob groaned out as you watched him squirm in front of you, a laugh leaving you once again at his misery, “He is possibly the worst person I have ever met in my entire life.”
“Hey, he’s not that bad, considering the groveling he did this week and all.” You shrugged as you continued to wipe down the bar in front of you.
“What groveling?” Bob hadn’t heard anything about Hangman groveling, but when he threw a look towards his fellow aviators, the shy smile on all their faces, Hangmans in particular, showed that maybe they had been in his corner all along, even if he had messed up as badly as he did.
“Well, after you told me I looked like a slut,” Bob felt the humiliation flood him again, “Hangman profusely apologized and the lot of them had explained that you may have a crush on me and were just super nervous to ask for my number, so he had offered to coach you and that you may have gotten just a little nervous and duffed it a little bit.”
“That may have been exactly what happened.” Bob chanced a look at you, the soft smile you sported gave him hope that maybe you weren’t all that mad with him after Hangman had pulled his weight to remedy the situation, “And I think duffed it a little bit is the understatement of the century.”
“Oh Bobby Floyd, I was just trying to be polite, but you completely fucked it. Didn’t anyone tell you that you only call a girl a slut while you’re busy rawing her from behind?” If Bob didn’t already look like a loser in front of you, him choking on his spit and face going even redder than it already was at the thought of ‘rawing you’ did not do him any favors.
“Ma’am, I will never call a woman a slut, ever again, under any circumstances, I can promise you that.” Bob had made this promise the second he had said the word to you last week, but this just solidified it to him.
“Oh, well, that’s a bit of a pity, I was kind of hoping after our third date, you might be willing to while you bed me.” Bob was sure his heart stopped.
“Date?” It was all he could get out. If he didn’t want to make more of a fool of himself, this was all he was willing to get out.
“Yeah, the date Hangman offered to pay for, after that first one though, it’s on us.” You were enamored with the look of wonder on his face as you told him you’d be going on a date with him.
“You’re seriously willing to go on a date with me after everything?” In lieu of an answer, you instead just glanced down to the napkin Bob hadn’t even seen you place in front of him, your name and number scrawled on it, all nice and neat just for him, “I promise it will be the best and most expensive date you ever go on.” The look of absolute shock never leaving his fae=ce as he immediately pocketed your number, not willing to jinx anything more.
“Oh I bank on it being the most expensive date we ever go on, I mean, it’s the least we can do to thank Hangman for his lesson.” With that you swung your cloth over your shoulder, “I look forward to your call Bobby Floyd.” and with one last wink you were making your way to the other side of the bar to help Penny with the ever increasing amount of patrons swamping the bar for a free drink.
As Bob stood there with possibly the biggest smile on his face, he felt a nudge to his shoulder, seeing his Captain with a small smile of his own, “Mav”, he greeted with a nod of his head, receiving one in return, embarrassed that his superior had to hear all that.
“I didn’t mean to eavesdrop Bob, but did she just use the term ‘bed you’ when telling you she hoped you’d call her a slut while you sleep with her?” Mav didn’t really care what term she used, in truth, he was just sure Bob hadn’t even really registered she’d said it at all, and honestly, he was rooting for Bob, he wanted him to know that he hadn’t completely fumbled the bag when it came to you.
“Bed me?” Bob hadn’t even fully registered what Mav had said before he heard Rooster behind him.
“He means ‘fuck’ Bob”
And for the second time, Rooster had to watch Bob end up with a drink all over him at the Hard Deck, this time though it was infinitely funnier as he watched Bob spill his own lemonade all over himself in shock.
“Did she see that?” Bob’s eyes were closed, refusing to look at you.
“She definitely saw that” Rooster couldn’t lie, flashing a smile to you as he turned Bob away, “Go, run,” shoving Bob back in the direction of their friends, but Bob couldn’t even find himself to be embarrassed this time as he pulled your number out the closer he got, waving it like a flag as all his friends cheered him on, dripping, covered in lemonade and with your number clutched in his hand.
