LACY IS CURED! ❤️ #fipsurvivor No pictures, I just wanna play ~ Lacy ❤️ Today is the day I’ve been waiting and hoping for for 168 days. We went through 84 days of FIP treatment (injections) and waited and watched for another 84 days of observation to make sure she didn’t relapse. I am so grateful to @mrspink2015 @scbrvt @sarantaria, everyone at CARES and Celeste Park-Estes for all the advice, medical and moral support. I’m grateful to everyone who sent us gifts and love and donated, and continues to donate to the medical bills we have incurred. My darling angel furbaby Sasha has effusive FIP, feline infectious peritonitis, causing pleural effusion in her chest cavity, or a filling of liquid that displaces her lungs so she cannot breathe properly. Her body is breaking down. FIP is a mutation of FECV and is fatal. There is no cure. We found out yesterday after taking her in to her regular vet after noticing shallow, elevated breathing, and getting an x-ray of her chest area. When our vet walked in, her expression turned my stomach into a cold hard rock. Sasha was immediately placed into an oxygen tank to help her breathing, and we were advised that FIP was suspected, and draining of her chest cavity would be the next step, along with blood work and diagnostic testing of the liquid pulled. Because of the sensitivity of the op, MASH was recommended as our treatment center. We rushed Sasha to MASH & they began sedation & oxygen therapy. After first draining 45mL, they did more x-rays & blood work. The viscosity of the liquid & the elevated globulins in her blood point to FIP. The effusion will return, her health will continue to decline, & euthanasia was recommended. The doc was able to drain another 45mL w/difficulty, & after more oxygen therapy we decided to bring her home for now. This is every furbaby parents’ worst nightmare. I even desperately emailed a doctor at UC Davis who has done trial studies on FIP, but there is no medicine for it now, at least not FDA approved. My heart was shredded earlier this year when Jinx died in my arms, & when I adopted Sasha I knew I would ultimately have to go through this again but this is beyond a cruel twist of fate. She’s barely 5 months old. 💔💔💔😭😭😭 My plan is to spoil her and love her as much as possible for her last few days, weeks, before her pleural effusion becomes serious again or her quality of life otherwise declines to that point where I will have to make the call. My heart is breaking in a million pieces all over again. This is so difficult. Hold your furbabies close. Dear furiends.. So very hard to tell you that.. I loss these beautiful girl since 24th. February ThongSroy passed away from FIP. She had relocated to my friend 's house in upcountry with her another 11 cat's friends since 16th. February last year They are living together with my friend 's father.. It's just 1 year anniversary abit that we are apart.. Especially I still haven't a chance to visit them in upcountry since they have to relocate.. There was one recent weekend where I was gone and had my girl @meetyourmuse1 catsit for Bilbo & @sashathesnowshoe Annie just sent me all the videos she took with Sasha and this one was so cute! She still looked healthy and was so happy. She did have a good life, short as it was, and many who loved her. Lacy enjoys the fresh air from the slider in the mornings. And then we went for bloodwork for her FIP because it’s day 59 post treatment and we’re still in the observation stage for another 25 days. Day 28 of Lacy’s FIP treatment. We’re 1/3 of the way there!! Every day of #fip treatment is different. Some days are great, some are not so good. At this point, thankfully, we have more good than bad days. But last night Lacy’s stomach was acting up and I had to give her some anti nausea meds. And today she didn’t want to come out of her cubby. That meant I had to block it off so she doesn’t have that option anymore 😿. She’s not happy about that, but I need to give her meds at certain times and she can’t hide from that.
