Inktober Day 21: Chains
One of my favorite NPCs in Bloodborne is my man Gilbert who suffers behind his window and still makes the effort of being nice to the Hunter.

Ah shit I sent enter too early-
Either Gilbert or Old Hunter Henryk because you already drew Gilbert?
I can draw both! I like the sort iif dynamic of Henryk and Gascoigne as a duo, I imagine them balancing each other out in terms of fight style/personality, but the moment one link breaks, the other snaps. I like when some people call him the Gasc daughter's grandpa too ...
Gilbert is one of the most Bloodborne characters and it always makes me sad when I go to talk to him after Gascoigne, especially this specific line. He's one of my favs in the game for sure.

Many beast patients can be seen strung up on pyres in Central Yharnam. Gilbert is infected by the Ashen Blood and turns into another beast patient. Old Yharnam is pretty far from Central Yharnam, so they can’t be escapees from Old Yharnam. Gilbert definitely has relations with the Powderkegs due to the fact that he owns a flamesprayer, a Powderkeg weapon, and turns into a beast patient, one of the beasts the Powderkegs hunted. Perhaps Gilbert became a Powderkeg to pay for his blood transfusion and caught the Ashen Blood while hunting. This also brings into question how long ago the burning of Old Yharnam really was, and just how long had Gilbert been holding out against the Ashen Blood before we arrived. Due to the fact Ashen Blood is highly contagious, and many beast patients can be seen burning on pyres in Central Yharnam, where Gilbert resides, could Gilbert have accidentally been spreading the disease throughout Central Yharnam?

It was only when he finally stood high above the burning lowest district of the city, right below the glare of the Bloodmoon, that it truly sunk in, what he had been a part of.
His gaze wandered, from the fire and smoke far below, to the flamesprayer in his hand.
As Gilbert stood nauseatingly close to that terrible moon, he remembered the words of a fellow Hunter. The older man had shared these only with him, not long before the burning of the entire district.
“They’re not beasts. They’re people.” And then the words that followed. “Don’t tell me you don't see it.”
He had. But it would only be years later, again under the hellish glow of a Bloodmoon, that he would truly understand.
Reupload of old art.
