Would Gilgamesh be a good father?
I’ve been seeing this circle around the fandom and I thought I’ll give my two piece
I think Gil would have like a child or two cause he is a king and one of the kings duties is to ensure that there would be a heir to the throne whenever he passes and what easiest way would that be would to have a few children to ensure ur bloodline continues plus he had lots of wives one source I found said he had over 100 of them and that just with the offical wives imagine how many unofficial mistresses he had seriously how does he not have hundreds of mini me running around fate!! Explain!
In the Babylonian anime and in the manga we have seen that Gil likes kids (cause they are humanities future) and would often be kind with them and would often give them things
But that doesn’t prove he’ll be a good father
But remember Gil was distant from his people and the whole thing with him being a tyrant was from a sense of loneliness (basically Gil was a meanie cause he was big sad) I’m likely to believe that he also wouldn’t connect with his own child
Plus with his own parents it’s believed that his father Lugalbanda died when Gil was quite young gil would probably not even know what to even start on how to take care of a son of his own
So In my opinion I think gil would want to be a good father but simply doesn’t even know where to start
I feel like he would have a more distant approach into “raising” his children like his children would want for nothing and would be giving the world if they so ask (within reason) (plus let’s be honest if one of them stole his credit card and spend 1billion dollars idk if he’ll even notice) but he’ll treat it has more of a business deal like if u behave u get rewarded and if they misbehaved they’ll have it taken away
Tho I feel like with caster most of his children would be more grown up and probably had to live without their father for majority of their childhood so I feel like he would be more comfortable in talking to them? Or at the least more comfortable with the fact that he can now just treat them like a subject and doesn’t have to be all fatherly with them
Tho I imagine with the more younger ones (like they were born right before he left) caster would’ve been way more lacks with them then he did with the older ones
Also caster probably felt a little guilty on how he treated them in his younger days
I think with a son he’ll have a better chance in at least bonding on some level like him teaching kingship with his heir so he’ll probably feel more comfortable having a teacher-student relationship tho I feel like he’ll be more strict with them since they would most likely inherit the majority of his assets so even if they do a tiny mistake they would get a stern talking to
With a daughter I feel like Gil would truly have no idea what to do with a daughter and would put them at a arms length and would never truly bond with them and would be less strict with them and just give them whatever they want
Kind like a whole “father I want more jewelry can I have a thousand dollars” and would just give them the money without even looking up from his work
BUT Gil would still take pride in his children like if anyone disrespects or hurts them he’ll go full tyrant mode on them
Like if a noble makes a inappropriate remark against one of his daughters he’ll would automatically punish them with no questioning
no one hurts his children without going through him first they may be mongrels but they are HIS mongrels
So in conclusion would Gilgamesh be a good father my answer would be…. Eh maybe but his children would most likely have daddy issues at the very least

I still think Ibaraki being summoned by Gilgamesh in Babylon is so funny like imagine you are Gilgamesh being desperate enough to summon servants to save your kingdom from something not even you The king of heros can defeat and one of the seven you summoned to save your kingdom from destruction is this tiny oni lady who after being told the situation probably just laughs at you and runs away probably causing massive damage to your throne room on the way out
And you don't even try and go after her she just leaves and goes to live on a mountain somewhere probably disrupting your supply exports and killing your men and she's not even a main priority
