The fact that Link has worn a Wham! shirt on GMM, and is probably a fan, somehow makes this even more awesome.

So I’m just sitting here, minding my own business, watching GMM as ya do. I bookmarked the video on the Rhett and Link channel when it came out so I could watch it later but haven’t yet. But lo and behold, they have a preview on today’s ep of GMM.  So they’re making up for their recess that they had to stay in for in 1984 when they drew Mythical Beasts together. In the first part of the clip, they refer to each other as brothers, as they’ve always done which is super sweet.
BUT.
THEN.
EXCUSE.
ME.
WTF.

Ok, I’m calm now (and no longer drunk) so I’m gonna do my best to put my thought together from the eclipse ep 7. I haven’t rewatched it yet, still recovering.
First off. WHAT THE FUCK GMM. Yo, I analysed the shit out of that kiss and then u go and uno reverse that shit. Mannn, it was such a good kiss and fits their relationship and the moment so we’ll that I’m honestly kinda disappointed that its not their first kiss. But we gotta keep moving I guess. This also reveals a lot about akk. Man FULLY imagined a whole ass scene of him and ayan kissing. Like we obviously new he was into ayan but this just confirms it all the more and shows his internal conflicts. He’s grappling so much with all of the new information that’s just been thrown into his life through ayan and then he starts to develop feelings for this new rule breaker. Literally just had a breakdown on a beach in front of said rule breaker too. Tbh I’m not surprised he didn’t kiss ayan. There’s just too much going on in his life at the moment for him to jump ahead into something else new while the rest of his life is still unstable. So while, yes he is attracted to ayan and maybe wants something more. In that moment, he wasn’t ready to take the next step. By not kissing ayan, he allowed himself a semblance of steadiness that he can rely on where nothing new is throwing him off kilter again.
AHHHHHH. The character development is to die for and I absolutely love it. After that whole evening of being able to let everything out and take off the weights that are crushing him, it has allowed him to gain a slightly more objective look at what is going on in his life and look at what his own opinions on everything is. Chadok still has a hold over akk and can still control what he does to a degree, akk is no longer blindly following his orders and is actually paying attention to the things he’s doing slowly but surely. Rose tinted glasses and all that good shit. Mannn, I loved that scene between akk and the three Jums (I think that’s their names?). There was such a breakthrough in the relationship between the protestors and the rule enforcers. It wasn’t hostile and aggressive. It’s starting to remind me slightly of Dan and his story in Not Me. Akk doesn’t necessarily want to be doing these things, or well, in the aggressive way that Chadok wants them done, but he doesn’t really have a way out of it. Akk still had to do what he was told to do, but he made sure not to make it more difficult than it needed to be. The protestors are always the ones being told that they’re being too difficult, that they need to be quieter, they need to be less prominent. But this time instead of the prefects saying this again, they themselves took a new approach and took it down a notch. It’s not the protestors that are making it harder than it needed to be, it was the rule keepers and the unnecessary force that they used. Akk instead said that HES SORRY to the Jums and politely took the megaphone out of his hands and then turned away. There’s nothing else that he had to say because there’s nothing more he wanted to say. He did the minimum that he knew he needed to do and nothing more. Because he doesn’t completely disagree with the protestors anymore. He’s starting to see their point of view on things and why their actually protesting. He’s asking his own questions on why he’s doing what he’s doing.
Now, what I know of 1984 comes from what I’ve seen this show and that’s pretty much it, so I’ve only got a limited sense of this book, but I can understand what it’s aiming to say. So I’m soooo glad that akk saw it and actually decided it was worth his time.. He’s got questions about the way things are run at Suppalo and his role in everything. Even if he still can’t see the way he fits into everything and his role from an outside pov. To himself he’s a rule keeper, but he’s always thought that the way he does things is because he wants to do them like that. Because it was necessary to do it that way. Akk’s now questioning the reality of this thought but he still doesn’t quite grasp the wider picture to see what’s actually been going on behind everything. He asks ayan “do you think there is someone in real life who is brainwashed like the main character in the book?” to which ayan easily and quickly replies “you” which akk gets pissed off at. There’s so much going on here. Akk is aware and acknowledges that the main character has been brainwashed by the government. He objectively knows this, either from his own observations or from being told it, but he’s still aware, and yet he lacks his own ability to make the connections between the main chapter and himself. It’s such an easy observation to everyone around him and the viewers but because he’s the one from everyone’s observing he can’t fully grasp the whole image. He’s getting there, but slower than everyone else is. He was either pissed of at ayan for insinuating that he was brainwashed because he still doesn’t believe that what’s going on with him is actually brainwashing by Chadok, or because he’s slowly starting to understand that he is in fact under Chadoks control but is pissed at himself for letting it happen to him. As we’ve seen, Akk likes to think that he’s in control of his own actions and opinions but there a part of him that knows this isn’t fully true. As with his reaction in ep 6. This is something that I’m still not sully sure of yet but hopefully we’ll learn in future episodes.
There was further development in akk and ayan a bond this episode that I am very grateful for. Ep 6 allowed akk a chance to let some of the weight off and finally rely on someone else even for a moment, but ayan still hadn’t had this yet. Ep 7 allowed this for him tho. For starters ayan invited himself to go on the club trip to akks house. It’s most likely as a way for him to get closer to akk and learn even more about him but it could equal be for another reason. Simply that he just needed to get away from everything. Akk probably thinks it was about getting at him more, but Ayan may have just needed a weekend to get somewhere away from all of the memories of his uncle. Pretty much every place we’ve seen so far is somewhere that either Dika went to or both ayan and Dika went too together. Ayan going to akks house though is somewhere new for him. There’s no connection to his uncle and it allows him a moment of solace away from everything.
As we know tho, that plan quickly backfired with Dika being brought up at the table with lan doing an impression of him. I knew immediately as seen as the words left his mouth that this was the direction they were going with this scene and I was anxious the whole time just waiting for it to happen, which it did. It also says a lot about how kan views Dika as a person. I can’t remember if it was just akk that’s shown to say negative things about Dika before of if kan also did. But with Chadok and waree, the impressions were making fun of them and laughing but with Dika he was actually nice with it, not trying to make a joke but instead being genuine with what he was saying. I appreciated this scene.
Anyway back to ayan. This obviously beings up memories that he was trying to avoid and everything quickly went downhill. Ayan is at breaking point with all of his emotions just below the surface at all times. It only takes the slightest thing to let them out. It was obvious that akk new something was wrong with ayan when Dika was mentioned but he let him have his space and didn’t try and question it infront of the group. It was only later on when he noticed that ayan was sat outside that he asked him about what happened. Ayan tries so hard to try and look like everything is under control but that mask was quickly slipping and akk could see it. Ayan offered him a shoulder last ep and akk returned the gesture this ep. They’re gained a sort of balance in what they can offer each other in terms of support. They’re both there for each other when they know no one else is. And ayan took that shoulder to cry on. He’s obviously got trust issues but it says a lot that instead of flat out saying he’s fine or running away, ayan instead took him up on the offer and showed a new part of himself to akk. He let himself be seen, something he doesn’t do. He’s so scared of letting anyone else in only to be hurt again like he was with dika. But he’s taking steps towards trusting akk, and being vulnerable. In doing this he’s giving a part of himself to akk and trusting that he won’t take it and break it. I love this scene and the acting from khaotung is actually incredible. His ability to change emotions so quickly and express himself is so amazing to see.
And obviously we’ve got that scene at the very end of the ep where it looks like ayan is leaning into kiss akk. I don’t know if this is going to be their first kiss of if their first one if the one we see from the trailer. In the trailer we can see that ayan asks permission to kiss akk so it’s possible akk rejects the advances on the boat. Akk is losing what little control he has over his carefully constructed life and so ayan going into kiss him without asking first if this is something akk wants might be too much. Akk needs that sense of control right now and so it’s likely he’ll reject the kiss. I guess we’ll see when ep 8 comes out.
Also is it just me or did ayan suddenly expecting akk to come out with the truth come out of nowhere. I’m not sure if I’m remembering it wrong or if it’s a translation error but I don’t remember akk promising to tell the truth. He said that he was going to stop pretending to be the curse. Either way I’m kinda pissed off at ayan to be honest. Once again it feels like his sense of morality and higher social status is clouding his sense of judgement to a degree. I understand that ayan wants there to be consequences and to see Suppalo burn but I don’t think making akk confess is going to do anything. And I understand that what akk did were crimes and there should be repercussions to what he did. But let’s not forget that he did this either under the direct orders of Chadok or as a result of pressure from Chadok. Either way, akk wasn’t doing these things of his own volition. Ayan is aware of this but still expects akk to confess. If akk did confess that would effectively be the end of everything for him. There’s no way that Suppalo would back akk up, they’d just use him as a scapegoat like Chadok had always intended for akk to be. Akk would then have to be expelled from Suppalo with his scholarship being revoked. The likely hood of him then getting into another good school like Suppalo is a million to one. Akk is relying on suppalo and a scholarship to get into uni. But if he confessed all of this would be gone. He’d have to go back home and likely wouldn’t be able to afford to go to uni so would end up taking the same line of work as his parents. And what he did as the curse would forever be on any legal documents which may make it hard to do much in the future. With all of this, ayan is so easily asking akk to confess like it’s a given. Akk has all of this to consider but it’s not something ayan has to worry about at all and so doesn’t even consider it. And then he keeps asking akk to confess to which akk rightly keeps asking for more time. I don’t know, it just kind of annoyed me that ayan was doing this when we’ve acknowledged the social divided in a past ep. But I guess it makes sense as even back then nothing big happened with this info. It just kind got slotted away into the back of ayans head.
And for the love of god someone tell me what the FUCK Namo is doing cos I’m about to lose it. This man just shows up with the main cast like it’s no biggie. I’ve already written in my past eclipse post on what I think namos role will be in all of this but honestly the suspense is killing me. At the moment he’s just kinda there with a few odd lines thrown in here and there but nothing big has happened yet. I know it will tho so it’s just a waiting game until he starts to have a bigger role in the movement of the plot.
My god this was a long and probably over analysed post but it was fun to write so who cares. There are likely some spelling mistakes and wrong autocorrects that I’ve missed so I apologise if that’s the case. Next ep is looking to be that start of akk and ayans romantic part of their relationship so it’ll be interesting to see how it fits into the plot and how the pressures are going to affect their relationship in return. Anyway, thank you if u read all of this, I appreciate it.

I just had a randomly sad thought today: the episode numbers are getting so high now. What if they planned it so ep 1984 is the last episode of GMM*? As in the year they met at Buies Creek? ... I’ll see myself out. 😔 (*Disclaimer: I know they haven’t mentioned any plans to stop GMM and ep 1984 would likely come too soon anyway. But maybe we’ll get a kiss instead? 😂)
I don’t even know what episode number we’re on tbh or when episode 1984 would be. But Yet happening would be nice 😂

I was cleaning out my desk and ran across the program from Rhett and Link concert in Jacksonville September 17, 2019. Since not everyone got to go to one of their concerts, I thought I would transcribe the description of who Rhett and Link are from the program. I enjoyed reading it because it put dates to some things I was fuzzy on. I think @apparentlynotreallyfinnish is keeping a timeline. I’m not sure.
About Rhett and Link (part one)
Rhett James McLaughlin and Charles Lincoln Neal, III (otherwise known as “Link”) met on September 4, 1984, the day they started first grade together at the Buies Creek Elementary School in Buies Creek, North Carolina. They each had to stay inside during recess because they wrote swear words on their desks. The name of their YouTube channel, Good Mythical Morning, is a tribute to the way they spent this time together: coloring in mythical creatures such as Unicorns. They later wrote a song about it and made a documentary about their teacher: Looking For Ms. Locklear. (Released in 2008, it won the Southern Lens Award from South Carolina Public TV, the Audience Award at the ACE and the Secret City Film Festivals, and was an official selection at six more film festivals.)
They wrote their first screenplay at age 14, and by high school they were in a punk rock band, The Wax Paper Dogz, and had made a 25-minute film parody of Oedipus Rex. They attended North Carolina State together, studying civil engineering (Rhett) and industrial engineering (Link). After college, Link worked briefly for IBM and Rhett worked for an engineering firm, and they started making videos for a religious organization, Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ). They soon quit their jobs to focus on their video work (Responding to a fan question in 2010, Rhett said that, while both men are Christian, their work is not overtly religious.).
They began making sponsored videos and web advertisements, starting in 2007 with “Cornhole Song”, a video for AJ Cornhole, a manufacturer of cornhole games. Larger companies began responding to their work, and they were soon creating award winning videos for companies like Alka-Seltzer (”Great American Road Trip”), Cadilliac (who sponsored them as correspondents at the Sundance Film Festival), and Microbilt, which sponsored their web series “I Love Commercials”, which had the duo creating free low-budget commercials for small businesses across the U.S.
Their award winning work from this time included a commercial for Cullman Liquidation Center that won a Best Local Commercial Award at the 2010 Ad Age Viral Video Awards, “Fast Food Folk Song” a video for Taco Bell that won the Contest of Awesome Award for Best Online Promotion Award for Best Comic Music Video of 2009, “T-shirt War” which won the Best Online Promotion Award in the Apparel Industry category at the 2010 Spirit Awards, and “2 Guys 600 Pillows”, a video for SleepBetter.org which won a Best Editing Award at the 2011 Webby Awards. Time magazine listed “2 Guys 600 Pillows”as one of the Top 10 Talented Web Videos of 2010, and Rhett & Link were included on Business Insider’s Top 25 Most Creative People in Advertising List of 2009.
Like many early internet stars, they tried to transition to network television. They hosted short-lived shows for the IFC and CW networks, but the Internet was the medium where their work belonged. They moved to Los Angeles and on January 9, 2012 launched their first YouTube show, Good Mythical Morning, a variety, comedy and talk show airing weekday mornings at 6:00 am, it is the namesake of their YouTube channel, which has over 5 billion views and over 15.5 million subscribers. GMM spawned additional shows including Good Mythical More, which airs directly after Good Mythical Morning.

346) MAJOR ACCIDENT - obok The Adicts pierwsza i najciekawsza grupa punk rockowa nawiązująca do kultowego filmu „Clockwork Orange” („Mechaniczna pomarańcza”) w reżyserii Stanleya Kubricka (1971) opartego na noweli Anthony Burgessa. Z racji drastycznych scen i prezentowanej w filmie przemocy, jakiej dopuszczał się uliczny gang Alexa, filmu kontrowersyjnego i w latach 70-tych często zakazywanego. Major Accident przybrali też jednolity image – czarne skórzane kurtki, białe spodnie, meloniki i ciężkie buty. Zespół pierwotnie powstał już w 1977 roku w Darlington w północno-wschodniej Anglii. Z czasem ustabilizował się skład: Paul Larkin (śpiew), Dave Hammond (gitara), Con Larkin (bass) i Col Stephenson (perkusja). Później dołączył Andy Harding (gitara), a za perkusją zasiadali kolejno: Porky, Stu Lee, Evo i Gary Jones. Zaczynali od ogrywania punkowych klasyków (m.in. Nobody” (1983). W tym czasie grali już sporo koncertów, m.in. z Chelsea, Infa-Riot i The Blood zdobywając uznanie angielskich punks & skins czasu rozkwitu sceny oi!. Pozostawili masę świetnych numerów, street punkowych hymnów, jak „Terrorist Gang”, „Schizophrenic”, „Sorry”, „Fight To Win”, „Leaders Of Tomorrow”, „Bad Company”, „Respectable” czy „Man On The Wall”. Reaktywowali się w 1996 roku w składzie: Paul Larkin, Con Larkin, Andy, Dave oraz nowy perkusista Lazy (ex-Last Rough Cause), by nagrać nowy, świetny album „Ultimate High” (1996).
