The Dashwood Family Album: Volume XVIII

Despite finding a loyal companion in Lulu, there's still a void in Robert's life, and he can't resist calling up someone whose name has been in his address book for a while now - Miles.

Once Miles stops coughing for more than a few minutes straight...

...a good time is had by all. I just hope that Robert doesn't get his hopes up too high - like he did previously with Benjamin - as Miles has never shown any interest in settling down with anyone.

Meanwhile, outside, Gordon King is relieving Edward of his beloved car restoration project.

Edward is forced to take up another hobby, instead of tinkering with his jalopy. Lulu is very impressed with his energy levels - and all that - but does wish that he would do his work-out elsewhere, and stop blocking the landing! How is she supposed to chase her own tail with all this going on?

Another day, another family gathering - this time Edward and Elinor are getting to know their grandson John a bit better, and appreciating his zest for life. (I do wish this silly game would let toddlers be invited along with their family.)

Edward also takes the chance to recapture his youth - joining oldest daughter Clara for a rendition of their old school cheer.

Love is...twirling your wife in the kitchen, after many happy years together.

Violet was starting to get really lonely by the evening and without thinking too much, he invited Gordon over to at least hang out with him. Though he got a little too excited when the man finally arrived.

Violet: So uh... I forgot to mention it last time. I'm not just a regular guy, I'm actually a PlantSim.

Gordon: I had a feeling you were a little different with the way you approached me.

Violet: Are you mad at me? Do you think it's repulsive or something?

Gordon: Honestly? I'm even more intrigued now. I've always wanted to meet an actual supernatural being.

So... Gordon is a Knowledge Sim. He explained to Violet, that he has always been fascinated with astronomy and wished to go to the university as soon as he grew into a teenager. His family's poor financial situation made him give up on the dream and start working early part-time. I also headcanon him as not much older than Dustin. He started working as a teenager, just like him. Skip was also his older mentor of sorts, which is why I imagine he felt like an older brother to Dustin.

Just think of the symbolism. Create this moment in Pleasantview's space-time where, for a split second, Dina Caliente co-exists under one roof with the three husbands she will have in her life. Mortimer in bed with her, sleeping soundly. Gordon King elegantly storing his lockpicks away and cautiously pushing the front door open. Michael Bachelor's ghost hovering from that absolutely horrifying kitchen to investigate the noise that just interrupted his nightly routine of disapproving with Nina's interior design choices (bc there's no way that kitchen was Dina's doing, let's face it).

For a moment, time slows down, some mechanisms at the core of the universe shift into place (it's quantum physics, don't question me) - then the burglar alarm screeches, piercing the night. Dina comes running down the stairs, barely dressed, locks eyes with the intruder, and Gordon thinks the sight might just be worth getting busted by police that night. That is, until Mortimer stumbles down the stairs after his wife with even less clothing on, and Gordon spins on his heels and flees into the night to not be seen again for a long time. Dina stares after him, petrified. Mortimer mistakes her silence for shock and starts comforting her. Nina noisily clambers down the stairs, still half asleep, to ask what all the fuss is about. Michael just silently judges the lot of them.

StrangeSpot, Round Twenty: Loste

Dixie and Kristen both roll wants to fall back in love with each other after their fallout last round. They do - just in time, as Kristen passes away of old age.

In a move that can only be described as vulture-like, Gordon King breaks in that night and steals the TV, with no werewolf sportswoman to stop him. Officer Maddox doesn’t stop him either; a telling off and “sorry, he got away” is the best he can apparently do. If I had a coin for every time Maddox let Gordon get away with burglary, I’d have two coins... which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it’s happened twice!

Gordon visited the Bachelors as an electrician. He said he was sent by the owner to check on something. Dina believed him and let him in.

This way he could have a nice view of the whole apartment.

After about a month, so as not to be noticeable, Gordon, Skip and Russ broke into the apartment, waited until Michael, Dina and her sister Nina (who was staying with them), were not at home and robbed them.

They stole everything they could that wasn´t nailed to the ground.

Of course the Bachelors immediately called the police, but they never found out who robbed them. At least not now...

Later that night, while Brandi, Beau, and Abigail were asleep, Gordon King stopped by.

"Hey, man. That tip you gave me on the Calientes was great. I've hit their place twice already, and it was a goldmine."

"No worries," Dustin replied, "Glad it worked out for you."

"Just keep doing what you're doing. I can see how hard you're working. If you keep at it, someday, you'll be doing my job."

"Oh," Gordon added, "And next time you decide to stay out past curfew with your girl, make sure you don't get caught. It puts the company at risk. I'm sure you understand."

Dustin crossed his arms and nodded quietly, then watched as Gordon disappeared into the night.

When Dustin first started dealing weed for Gordon, he told himself it was just a temporary job to keep his family on their feet after his mom quit her job. But then he became an essential part of the organization, and now, he couldn't imagine his life without it.

The two finished the week in a heartwarming way. Gordon still felt a little awkward sleeping in the Oldies' bedroom, but wouldn't dare changing anything when he's only a roommate.

Violet still couldn't sleep, but developed a habit of laying in bed next to Gordon for at least a few hours. As much as he loved being a PlantSim and wanted to stick to it, he still wished he could enjoy the same daily activities as his boyfriend.

And thus the Oldie round ends in an unusual setting. Next time it's the Summerdreams.
