Hi! I really enjoy your coming Going to Weather and your art style. You always do such a great job drawing scenes and backgrounds. Do you have any advice on how you do it? Especially rooms. Sincerely, someone who struggles with drawing backgrounds.

For technical advice I’m not a good resource because perspective is the bane of my existence and I eyeball it poorly or half-ass trace the base shape of a room because I hate straight lines and rulers so much lol. Some people draw floorplans from a birds eye view and then do crazy things with transform tools. Some people make 3d models of rooms to use. I don't have the energy to learn how to do that effectively but if I did...THAT'D HELP. Maybe someday. I remember I once had a professor who was like 'your perspective is wonky but you put so much detail into it that I don't think people will really notice or care that much' so I have RUN WITH THAT haha!
But I do have advice for how to get excited about backgrounds. Because I also struggle with backgrounds. I've found the two most helpful things to keep in mind are:
The background is a character too.
Reference reference reference! References will surprise you and make the world richer.
Backgrounds can tell a lot about the world your scene is set in, and thinking about them having personalities and also being part of the narrative can help you design them. For instance, I really wanted to show the difference of means between Ezra and Barzillai, that they're both career whalemen but that they're operating under quite different circumstances.

I used the backgrounds to tell that story without words. They have a purpose just as much as the characters do.
When building out my focsle, I liked thinking of what a space that was continually inhabited by a bunch of late-teens/early 20s lads for years at a time looked like, the mindsets people were in on those ships, and how their presence would be left behind. Also inspired by graffiti seen in the past and present.

I also always try to push my backgrounds just a LITTLE more each time, which is easier said than done. To make my streets a little more crowded, to make the focsle just a little more chaotic, to make the waters just a little rougher. You gotta find what makes it fun for you, and what makes it fun for me is thinking about what story the background tells. I like thinking of practical elements too like...where do they put their stuff, what's their daily routine and how does that show in the space, what sort of art do they like to have, etc.
But to build those backgrounds, reference is so important. I've got about 1500 reference pictures for GTW and counting. And it's important to gather all kinds of reference! Photos, objects, other illustrations, written descriptions, videos, physically going to a place, all of that can help build one's visual library to craft places that feel like characters. Think of yourself as a set designer and you’re going shopping for all the little things you want to tell that story.
For instance, here are reference photos I took in various mid 19th century houses, that I cobbled together to make the Captain's house:

I remember really liking this bed I saw in a historic house and wanting it for my own room. So I did the next best thing and put it in a fake room.

I love this reference of a focsle, too! I can't wait to draw the inside of a bunk where someone's hanging their hats or storing their pans. Little authenticating details like these that I wouldn't necessarily think of can be discovered in reference. It makes everything feel more real.

I remember when I made my pilgrimage to the Charles W. Morgan one of the many things that struck me was how much light deck prisms brought into the living spaces below. So that was something fun to keep in mind any time I was drawing a scene below deck during the day, how I could play with that lighting.

Which brings me to my last bit. I think if you can go to a place that embodies the settings you want to work in, that's so important too. Just spending time there. Taking in the vibe. Thinking about what it sounds like and feels like and smells like. Thinking about how the light falls. And to hold on to all those little things, and to keep them in mind as you draw those backgrounds. You can't exactly draw a smell or a sound, but when you think about those things, you can think about where they're coming from and draw that. A clock ticking, pipe smoke, water sloshing, fire crackling. It's all there. I personally don't strive to create the most technically-sound looking rooms, but I really do try to make rooms that get across a Vibe and that feel lived-in.

Back at it again with this whole challenge stuff.
This Challenge is half “Survive this”, half Legacy, and based around the various stages the main group in the TV Show “The Walking Dead” went through. You don’t need to have watched it to play this challenge, but many requirements will feel arbitrary if you haven’t. Since these aren’t really, uh, generations, I will refer to the individual parts of this challenge as “Stages” Packs required: Outdoor Retreat, Seasons, Eco Lifestyle, Get Together, City Living, Discover University, Get to Work
The Setup:
- You will need either Triplis’ “Kids Quit School” mod ot MCCC to make quitting school possible. - Create your founder and any number of other survivors in CAS, Two of these additional survivors need to be children. - Use your own physical dice or find an online dice roller, you will need that!
General Rules:
- It’s the Apocalypse, so buy mode is heavily restricted. You can’t just go to Ikea and buy  new couch! You will need to use the fabrication and handiness skills to make furniture! Some Random Events and generational rules may allow you to get stuff otherwise
- You may only cook with ingredients you have! If you play this after the release of Cottage Living, use the Lot Challenge!
- You will always play off the grid!
- The monetary cost of crafting is considered “materials”. You can "barter” for materials by using the selling table from City Living, or sell furniture and stuff you scavenged, thus “dismantling” it and salvaging it.
- Any children you have aside from the two you create in CAS automatically suffer a -2 penalty to all rolls they perform, on account of being children. 
- Randomized townies you encounter are generally considered zombies. (or WaLkErS of you don’t wanna use the evil Z word). If they engage you in conversation, consider it an attack and roll a d20, adding 1 for every two levels of fitness the Sim in question has. Below a 15, they get injured in the scuffle and are out of comission for the rest of the day. Below a 10, they get infected and die
- Pregnant and elderly Sims cannot perform any chores or other survival tasks and suffer the same -2 penalty as children!
- Every ingame week, roll on the random events table!
- Play with normal lifespan!
Stage 1: The Atlanta Survivors Camp You just survived the Apocalypse’s initial outbreak and you are settling with a small group outside a large city. However, calamity soon threatens your little sanctuary.
- Move your household anywhere with freerealestate, then take a vacation on the campground lot in Granite Falls.  - Set your money to 5k and start your grind. When you can no longer extend your vacation, your camp gets overrun and you are forced to flee. Roll Fitness checks for each member of your group and disable/kill accordingly. - If your founder dies in this, appoint a new one from the surviving sims
Stage 2: Hershel’s Farm After getting out of the overrun camp and having a little happening at the CDC, you are back on the road and lose one of your two kids in a run-in with a horde. Worse, even, your other kid gets shot and is badly injured! Thankfully, you are offered help by a small family on a nearby farm.
- Kill of one of your two CAS-created kids. Sorry, Sophia! - The other CAS-created kid is now injured for the rest of thi stage and can’t help you out or build skills. - Move your sims to one of the lots south of the Chalet in Windernburg (Or Henford on Bagley if Cottage Living is out!)  and build a little farmhouse big enough to accommodate four sims, with a small vegetable garden and 2 power generating and 3 water generating items. -Create four Sims that “own” the farm and help you out. One of them has to be an elder! - Two weeks into this stage, the farm will, unfortunately, get overrun and also set on fire. Do your fitness rolls for everyone and run for your life.
Stage 3: The Prison Again, you are on the run, but there’s a little shimmer of light at the end of the tunnel - an abandoned prison! Now, you just need to like... reclaim it.
- Build a Prison, or download one from the gallery! - Cheat one of your sim pregnant, if you don’t have a pregnancy yet. - Reclaim the prison! Make Fitness rolls for each level + the outside. - After your pregnant Sim gives birth, kill her. Sorry, Lori! - Create a rival 8-sim household and put your sims in a club, and their rivals in one too. Have  “fight (other club)” as one of the activities, then have them visit you and... start... a gathering... ;)
Stage 4 The Prison 2, Electric Boogaloo You defeated Woodbury! ... or did you? Well, you don’t really have time to deal with it right now, because there is a deadly strain of influenza wrecking your community. 
- Start placing ads for roommates. Those are the former Woodbury people you took in! - Every Time someone gets one of the GTW illnesses, roll your d20. Below a 10, they die to the sickness. Kill them, and roll fitness for one of your household sims, since the dead turn into walkers! - Three weeks into this stage, your friend, the Governor of Woodbury, comes back with a fresh new group he roped into his nonsense. Roll Fitness checks and book it. (also kill the Governor. RIP in pieces)
Stage 5: Terminus From bad to worse, you’re on the run again, and split up this time. Divided we fall, huh? Good thing there’s this totally not ominous set of markers leading you to a place called Terminus. I’m sure nothing bad will happen there.
- Split your Household and surviving roommates and pop them all into different empty lots. Play a week with each of them (aging off here, this is meant to happen simultaneously!) and roll on the random events table until you have eight sims left in total. Hope you weren’t attached to any of them. - Put them back into the same household again, and create yet another rival club to beat up. That rival club is Terminus. Surprise, the group with the name meaning “Death” was bad! - Switch to your Terminus household and “invite” your sims over, then lock them in the basement, true sims style. Go downstairs and start a club gathering. Keep an eye on them, every time someone loses a fight, kill them. Do this until you have either 5 good guys left or all of Terminus is dead.
Stage 6: Alexandria and The other blokes You got away from the humanitarians and were invited into the community of Alexandria. Thing are finally looking up again!
- Move to a 50x50 lot and build a little “village” with gardens, energy production and everything you might need. - Create two more 8-sim-households on similar situations and create clubs for them, with the activity to be friendly with yours! These two households will be Hilltop and The Kingdom. - Make one of the Evergreen Harbor Community Spaces a marketplace and frequent it! - Stay in this stage for four weeks!
Stage 7: The Saviour War Things just couldn’t stay okay, could they? You ticked off a horrible cult-of-personality-type organization called the Saviours, who now start their reign of terror against you.
- Create another household and club meant to be mean to you, Hilltop and the kingdom. Make their Leader a magnificent bastard and give that one plot armor. Narrative Immunity! - Host a little multi-club gathering and roll a d8 twice. Look at your own household portrait lineup and kill two of your sims whose portrait position corresponds to your rolls. - Take your strongest fighter, aka the highst fitness stat, aka Daryl Dixon and put them into their own household, to take them out of the equation for a while. They’re the Saviours’ prisoner now! - Congrats, you have been promoted to vassal state. The Saviours demand five of every crop you produce. Don’t hav enough to feed your people? Sucks to be you! - Stay in this stage for 4 weeks, then bring back your poor fighter, and kill off half of the Saviours, add the rest to your household and Kingdom & Hilltop. Their Leader must survive! Keep them in your basement from now on and visit them regularly to gloat.
Stage 8: The Whisperer War Finally, some stability. Oh, whats that? New enemy faction, and this one of even worse? Fantastic.
- Cease communication and trade with Hilltop & Kingdom for two weeks, Then hold a big party! - ...during said party,  kill 12 total sims from each faction. - Create a new rival faction called the Whisperers. Make their two leaders, Alpha & Beta, level 10 in fitness. - Hold weekly brawls with the whisperers. Kill every fight loser, but replenish the Whisperers losses. There’s no end to their forces! - Give Alpha a daughter and take her in after your first clash with them. - When you resume trade, roll a D20 every time you travel away from your lot. Below a 10, your travel party gets attacked by the Whisperers! Roll Fitness checks for every Siim traveling. - Remember the Saviour leader? Yeah, they’re doing better. Have them befried one of your household’s children, and gradually integrate them into your community. - After an additional 4 weeks of this, send your redeemed Saviour leader over to the Whisperers and befriend them. They’re a spy now! - Survive another week, then ply s the Whisperers and attack Hilltop! Move the survivors into your main household. - After this attack, your spy strikes and kills Alpha. Put them back into your household, then gear up for a big fight! - Cheat “Roughhousing ecouraged” in your NAPs, then gather all surviving characters along with the Whisperers and fight!
Did you survive this? Well, until season 11 comes out, that’s as far as we go. You can continue playing with the Random Events and general ruleset!
RANDOM EVENTS:
D20: 1.  There’s a drought. Sell all your stored water and reset your money back down 2. Zombie Attack! Roll Fitness and kill accoridngly! 3. Electric whoopsie-doopsie. Sell your stored electricty and set your money bck down 4. Roving bandits! The next time travel, all your traveling sims lose their inventory contents! If they had none, kill one of them! 5. Baby Boom! Get one fo your Sims pregnant 6. Other Survivors! Roll a d4 and add the resulting nuber of sims to your household! 7. Tragic accident! Kill a random sim 8. Extra Ammo! Every Sim gets a +1 to their next fitness roll! 9. Thunderstorm! Your Sims may not leave their lot for this week! 10: Supply thief! select a random sim and hoard food for this week. At the end of the week they get found out nd either killed or exiled! 11. Breach! Your wall has a breach! Reduce your funds by 150 to fix it. If you don’t have that much, kill a random sim in the resulting zombie incusrsion! 12. Illness! There’s a flareup of the deadly flu from the prison! Play with this Stage’s rules (regarding the illness) for this week! 13: Re-roll! 14. Sabotage! Your fabricator and woodworking table cannot be used this week! 15. Zombie Attack! Roll Fitness and kill accordingly! 16. Lost Child! You find a random child, adopt one! (cheat the money for the adoption) 17: Feast! Your Sims make the poorly informed decision to par-tay! Delete all the stored crops you have. 18. Horde! It’s too dangerous to leave the fortifications right now! Suspend all travel this week. 19. Foraging! Cheat yourself enough money and buy a seasonal seed packet that corresponds to this season! 20. Re-Roll!

Realm of Magic first impressions
Me just sharing thoughts about the trailer.
Moon is one of the main themes, as you can see from his sweater decor.

This should be placed in a new world, right? And theorically works like the GTW portal to sixam.

And this should be the “surprise”? I think it’s a neighborhood with 4 lots: up left seems a park of some sort where they are fighting at the end of the trailer, the center looks like a big residential, the up right maybe another park or where you “land” after the portal, and the down right some sort of community lot with markets (like city living) but that aren’t buildable (they look like the backdrops in get famous). Also, it looks stunning levitating like this, and I think it’s a neighborhood due to the ability to fly with brooms (much like the ocean in Island Living that connect the various lots).

I see a lot of cool things that go well with Vampires aestethic. There is also a flying blue creature between the boy with blue tips and the punk girl.

Is this a rug like the one in Jungle Adventure or is it a whole object with the cauldron since the sims are on top of each symbol? It would be way bigger this way. Also, the potions in the back has some symbol made of steam telling what they do (there’s one with a skeleton and one with an heart).

The EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid gaming earbuds feature Bluetooth for standard connections, and interestingly, the low-latency aptX codec when used with the USB-C dongle. Furthermore, while the PlayStation 4 and 5 aren't listed on the official specifications, the EPOS GTW 270 Hybrids do work with these consoles.
EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid Design
Straight out of the box, the EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid earbuds and charging case carry a solid weight. Not heavy, but enough to deliver the feel of quality. The anodized-aluminum carry case is smooth and solid, and its latch and locking mechanism strong and secure. The front of the portable charging case features five small blue lights indicating battery level, which also flash red when you're pairing with a new Bluetooth device.

The earbuds themselves are slightly heavier and chunkier than I was expecting, but it isn't noticeable at all when you pop them in your ears. Walking around the house with the default earbud tips and the GTW 270s are locked firmly-yet-comfortably in place. As with most earbuds, you can easily slip the replaceable tips on and off to find a fit that suits you.
You'll find a small control button on the left earbud. It really is small, but it has many functions: one tap for play and pause, two to skip the track, and three to rewind. To access your virtual personal assistant, hold the button for two seconds. When you're on a call, you have to hold the button for three seconds to put the phone down.
EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid Sound Quality
The GTW 270s sound is really good. You're never going to beat a gaming headset with drivers ten times the size of the GTW 270s 6mm drivers. But in fact, that makes the gaming earbud's audio performance that bit more impressive.

Jumping into various games to test the earbuds, it quickly becomes clear that what the earbuds lack in size, they make up for in finely-tuned audio performance.
Firing up Assetto Corsa Competizione, and the Mercedes AMG GT3 maintains its meaty roar around the hills of Spa-Francorchamps. It's a similar story jumping into a Lancia Stratos in Dirt 2.0.
Next, a trip into Red Dead 2 Online, where you can hear the ambient noises of the mid-West surrounding you. First-person shooters like Insurgency: Sandstorm and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus deliver exceptional audio range, covering the thundering gunshots and subtle noises of approaching footsteps.
It is a similar story for music, too. My favorite thing to do with new headphones is run them through the Songs to Test Headphones With playlist on Spotify, covering all manner of hip-hop, hard rock, techno, and everything in between.

The GTW 270 earbuds maintain a solid balance between treble and bass throughout my extended run-through, which is impressive given the eclectic range of tracks on the playlist.
Overall, the EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid earbuds deliver top-notch audio quality for both gaming and music, which is really quite impressive.
EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid Functionality
So, the GTW 270 earbuds sound great, but how do they perform elsewhere?
One immediate positive is how ridiculously quick they are to setup using the included aptX low-latency dongle. You can have the earbuds up and running within a minute of unboxing as the earbuds and dongle come pre-paired.
I connected the USB dongle on my desktop PC using the supplied cable and let the auto-connection do the rest. It was a similar situation when plugging into a Nintendo Switch. The connection updated automatically, and the audio worked instantaneously.

Now, there is one downside to the EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid earbud microphone. When you're using the aptX low-latency dongle, you cannot communicate in-game. It isn't a glaring issue, but for earbuds that position themselves as gaming hardware, and with the aptX dongle a main selling point, it is slightly irritating.
That said, I would counter my own point with the fact the GTW 270 earbuds are perhaps better suited to short gaming bursts and are particularly handy when you're out and about, gaming on the move. Often, you're not engaging in team-speak gameplay in these scenarios, which is why it isn't the downside it could be. I'd also add that this isn't a slight on EPOS; it's a restriction of aptX.
You should also note that when you use a standard Bluetooth connection (for instance, with your phone, a standalone Bluetooth dongle, or your motherboard supports Bluetooth), the microphone works fine. The quality isn't amazing, but you can be heard with relative clarity.
Regarding battery life, the GTW 270 earbuds hold five hours charge, and you'll get another 15 hours charge from the carry case. Again, given the target market for these earbuds, five hours is plenty for most gaming stints. You can also use the fast charging feature to grab one hour of playback on a rapid 15-minute charge.
EPOS Gaming Suite
The EPOS Gaming Suite is a desktop app you can use to manage your EPOS GTW 270 earbuds.

After downloading and installing, you can use the tool to update the firmware on the dongle and the earbuds. The updates didn't work straight off the bat for me, but I managed to update the firmware for both elements after a few tries.
The EPOS Gaming Suite also includes an EQ with a few presets, along with the option to switch between virtual surround sound modes. Once you select an EQ mode, the sound setting saves to your earbuds until you change it again.

However, you cannot change your EQ mode on the fly from the earbuds, and there is no accompanying app at the current time. As an aside, the "eSport" preset is awful, so give that a miss.
Earbud Repairability
As you'll find with most earbuds, repairability is likely to be low, with only certain features able to be repaired or replaced.
On the other hand, the charging carry case is solid and will keep the earbuds protect from drop damage, and the earbuds carry an IPX5 rating, which will protect against sweat and light rain. Those are two of the primary ways you can damage your hardware at least partially mitigated against.
Furthermore, don't forget these gaming earbuds are new to the market at the time of review. While there are no repair guides currently available, given time, repair guides will be written. Earbuds aren't impossible to mend, but they are tricky.
The GTW 270 earbuds come with a two-year warranty in the event something breaks in that period.
Should You Buy the EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid Gaming Earbuds?
The big question: are the earbuds worth your hard-earned dollars?

EPOS is entering a very busy marketplace. The temptation to focus on these earbuds as purely gaming hardware is unfounded, despite what EPOS wants you to think. They sound brilliant when pitted against a wide range of music types, as well as films and podcasts.
Also, they're comfy, as EPOS has taken over 800,000 ear scans from its parent company, Demant, and crafted them to relieve pressure on the "non-flexible parts of the ear." Throughout this review, I've clocked tens of hours of usage without feeling any ear fatigue, and I have relatively small ears.
However, I can understand why EPOS is launching these with gamers in mind. At this price point, the earbud market has some strong competitors, not least the popular Jabra Elite 75t and Elite 85t, and the well-reviewed Sony WF-1000XM3 earbuds. Launching them as a unique tool for gamers might well give it the edge.
Currently, the EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid earbuds retail for $200. They sound exceptional, look good, allow instant connection with your PC and Nintendo Switch. The aptX low latency audio is crisp and clear, and the Bluetooth audio is almost the same, if suffering slightly from Bluetooth's well-known time-delay.
It's a yes from me for the overall audio package EPOS has delivered, rather than as a specific bit of gaming audio hardware. With a few more tweaks to the overall package—think: better microphones, customizable EQ via an app, adjustments to the aptX multiplayer team-speak issue, perhaps Sidetone—EPOS could be onto a real winner.
