Bill Hader gave us a subtle reminder that, yes Barry can still be a comedy because he gave us “Barry Berkman was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery with full honors”. if you didn’t laugh at that idk what to tell you

Bill Hader's Favorite Movies of 2023🎥
I still haven’t seen “Poor Things” or “All of Us Strangers,” both of which I hear are great. That said:
“All the Beauty and the Bloodshed” — I think this came out in 2022, but I saw it this year and loved it. It turned me on to her photography, which is phenomenal.
“Anatomy of a Fall” — That couple fighting in the kitchen was so well written, directed, and acted I thought I was going to have a panic attack. And Milo Machado Graner’s performance is beautiful.
“Beau is Afraid” — This felt like the nightmare a nervous guy has before he visits his overbearing mother. One of the boldest American films I’ve seen in years. Kylie Rodgers drinking that paint! Jesus…
“The Boy and the Heron” — A legend! I like how he animates gusts of wind.
“El Conde” — Ed Lachman’s cinematography is gorgeous. And the visual effects are very well done.
“Evil Dead Rise” — I’m a sucker for “The Evil Dead” movies. I’ll never look at a cheese grater the same again.
“Fallen Leaves” — Simple and beautiful storytelling. Their first date is one of my favorite scenes of the year.
“Killers of the Flower Moon” — One of my heroes adapting one of my favorite contemporary authors, I went in with big expectations and was completely knocked out. Scorsese somehow continues to discover new moves in his storytelling. I’ve never seen a love story like this in his movies. And the banality of evil that De Niro portrays I haven’t seen either; it’s usually Biblical evil! It’s very inspiring. And it was nice seeing the light and the land of my home state faithfully captured on film.
“May December” — Unbelievable performances from everyone. Natalie Portman’s recreation of the letter! Stoned Charles Melton on the roof! And Julianne Moore continues to prove she might be the best living actor in the world. I’ve always been a huge Todd Haynes fan, and this is one of his best.
“Showing Up” — Kelly Reichart is a national treasure. Her films have the simplicity/complexity of a great short story. I love the sound in her movies. A campfire in one of her movies sounds different from campfires in most movies (although I don’t think there’s a campfire in this one).
“Talk to Me” — What a great idea for a horror movie! I said, “Oh no” out loud multiple times while watching it alone in my house.
“The Zone of Interest” — I can honestly say I’ve loved every movie Jonathan Glazer has made — all four of them! He’s so confident in his instincts. Like that opening title! The static camera. The sound design. The music! All the withholding. It adds up to an experience I’ve never had watching a movie. And all I do is lay around like a slob watching movies, so that’s really saying something.

I'd like to thank Rachel Bilson for not only telling us Bill Hader has a giant ding-dong, but that she had never orgasmed from sex until she hopped a ride on that giant ding-dong.
The girl is out here doing the Lord's work on this day. I hope Bill's ex-wife isn't reading any of this, though I'm sure she's well-versed on his ding-dong already.
Hey, Rachel, is there anything else about Bill you want to share with us? Is he good at oral? Massages? Is he a moaner, a screamer, or the strong and silent type? Come on, out with the goods. There's a nation of horny women (and men) dying for the info.

sorry for barging into your asks this way but what did bill hader do on SNL in 2013? im trying my best to find out but i can't really find anything properly
oh there was a throw away joke where he did blackface to make fun of al pacino taking any role. to my knowledge, he's never specifically apologized for that, just given a blanket apology for "offenses" on snl but it is like. shockingly easy to just not do minstrelsy on national television.
this is the link. time stamp is 1:17. black actors and fans defending this mean nothing to me because black people have always been part of minstrel performance on either side of the stage so 🤷‍♂️ its a complex issue but you can very much put down the quark and shoe polish and just. Not Do It! if you are really committed to making the statement that it's "uncool."

Holiday Viewing 2023
I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays despite everything. This month, I got to watch some Christmas movies that were either or just ones I never got around to before now, and seen a few of this year's Oscar candidates.
The Shop Around the Corner: Two shop workers (James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan) are unaware that they are penpals. Yes, this is the movie that was eventually made into You've Got Mail. I wasn't really interested in the romantic plot, but I did love the subplot of the shop workers rallying around their unhappy boss (Frank Morgan) after his wife cheats on him. That was some Christmas movie magic right there.
Nuts: Barbra Streisand's more lesser known role as a call girl whose mental state is put on trial after she kills a client in self defense. I had to watch it after reading her memoir, and while the movie wasn't exactly well-received, she played the hell out of it.
Noelle: Anna Kendrick plays Santa's daughter, who tries to find her brother (Bill Hader) when he ditches the North Pole for yoga instead of taking over as the new Santa.
8-Bit Christmas: Screw A Christmas Story! I can relate better to watching a kid desperately try to get a Nintendo for Christmas instead of that stupid Red Ryder. Plus, any movie with Neil Patrick Harris is a win.
Candy Cane Lane: Eddie Murphy unwittingly faces being turned into a Christmas ornament after making a deal with an evil elf for the best Christmas decorations ever. Forget the reviews calling it dumb and corny--Christmas movies are ALWAYS dumb and corny! That's why we like them! And I thought it was hilarious.
The Family Plan: Basically National Lampoon's Vacation if Clark Griswald was an assassin instead of just an incompetent dad.
Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget: Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of the original. However, while this pretty much followed the formula of a Disney direct-to-video sequel -- child of a legacy character wants to see their world while their traumatized parent wants to stay put -- it was pretty cute.
May December: Holy crap. This was amazing, in a morbidly disturbing way. Julianne Moore has never been more despicable as a predator who married her teenage victim. Charles Melton gives one of the most heart wrenching performances of the year as an emotionally stunted man that is only now coming to terms with what was done to him. And Natalie Portman as the actress who stoops to sociopathic levels for a film performance. Just watch it.
Maestro: Regardless of whether or not you think Bradley Cooper deserves all the hype he's been getting for this, he sure does know how to disappear into a role. And Carey Mulligan was fantastic in this...although I just found out that she wasn't exactly an appropriate casting choice ethnicity-wise. Godammit, Hollywood, I thought we weren't going to do this crap anymore!

Pittsburgh’s David Bednar was second in the NL and San Diego’s Josh Hader third.
NEW YORK (AP) — Baltimore’s Félix Bautista was a unanimous winner of the Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year Award and Milwaukee’s Devin Williams won the Trevor Hoffman National League honor on Wednesday. "I want to come back this season and throw the first pitch…"
"I will come back and pitch this season."
Japanese starting pitcher Darvish Yu of the San Diego Padres was placed on the injured list (IL) on the 15th. MLB.com, the official homepage of Major League Baseball, said, "San Diego's postseason hopes were dealt another serious blow when Darvish went to the IL on the 15th with right elbow inflammation."
'MLBcom' said, "Darvish received additional tests to determine the extent of his injury. San Diego has yet to reveal the results." However, after the St. "he said.
"I don't think this season is over. My plan is to come back and pitch this season," Darvish said. said.
Darvish signed a six-year, $108 million (approximately 142.7 billion won) contract extension with San Diego ahead of this season. However, in 24 games this season, he is 8-10, 136⅓ innings, 71 runs (69 earned), 51 walks, 141 strikeouts, an average ERA of 4.56 and a WHIP (on-base allowed per inning) of 1.30. Compared to his last season, he is performing poorly. Last season, in 30 games, 16 wins, 8 losses, 194⅔ innings, 67 runs (67 ERA), 49 walks, 197 strikeouts, an average ERA of 3.10 WHIP marked 0.95.
Darvish recorded 3 losses, 29 innings, 16 runs (15 ERA), 8 walks, 24 strikeouts, 4.66 WHIP, and 1.34 ERA in 5 games in August. In the Milwaukee Brewers expedition on the 26th, after showing a sluggish appearance with 5 runs (5 earned), 6 hits (1 home run), 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in 4 innings, he came down from the mound and eventually revealed that he had a problem with his elbow.
Originally, Darvish planned to start against St. Louis on the 31st, but due to an injury, Rich Hill started as a substitute. Hill allowed 3 runs (3 earned), 5 hits (1 home run), 1 walk and 2 strikeouts in 4 innings. However, for the second day in a row, the team was hit by Tommy Hyun-soo Edmon. In the bottom of the ninth inning with a 4-3 lead, Edmon hit a walk-off two-run home run off Josh Hader with two outs on second base.
San Diego, which fell into the swamp of two consecutive losses, is 4th in the National League West Division with 62 wins and 72 losses. With 28 regular league games left, the difference between the wild card advance and the wild card is 8 games. This is the moment when hope disappears. If the possibility of advancing to the postseason disappears, there seems to be no reason to urgently return Darvish.
