Fun fact about me. When I was first figuring out my theriotypes, I thought my urge to sunbathe was related to a potential feline theriotype. It's a seal thing for me, though. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean I don't lay on the floor in my livingroom with my cat and soak up the sun. Turtle loves his floor time.

Bonus fun fact: Turtle, my cat, was actually born without a tail. He's just a little guy.

is it just me or do other nonhumans not really get hungry or feel connected to raw meat if theyre packaged and look like classic raw meat at the supermarket, like if i wanna eat raw meat, it has to be bloody like cmon 💀 eating it packaged just seems too human for me lol

i think i just got a kin-shift for a species ive NEVER had a shift of, and now im just veerrry confused!! ^_^’

i LOVE seals, and ive always felt very connected to seals, but not as connected as i am to my theriotypes.

usually when i see a seal im like “lmao, me” in the silly way, and not exactly the kin way. but when i got back from school today i found a bunch of videos on seals, and seeing how they interacted with divers and their surroundings was just… right. and as the diver described the seal and its behavior, it just kinda clicked. that was me! actually me!!! ^w^

so uhh… guess i might be a harbor seal seal? maybe! maybe not! who knows!

Hello! My name's Finch, and I'm a therian who's questioning a harbor seal! You're one of the first seal therians I've seen, so I was wondering if I could ask a you a question or two to help me figure out if a seal is my theriotype :]

Hey there, Finch!

So, ever since I was a child I've had very strong phantom shifts, mental ones too but I definitely experienced the former much more frequently. And as I grew up and learned about all these different species of animals, it gave me a feeling of like.. seeing my reflection for the first time. I could connect the feelings which I've always felt to something tangible. My wolf self was the easiest for me to discover given that they're the easiest for me to relate to as a human.

Mostly I have seal shifts when I'm laying or sometimes sitting down or when I'm swimming. So that was very helpful in aiding with my discovery. I knew I was some sort of aquatic animal but just didn't know what exactly. And then eventually I learned about harp seals and it just clicked.

I think the best advice I can really give you is to remember that there is never any rush into labeling yourself. Do your best to not stress over the details and just let yourself do what feels natural to you.

How do you know what animal you are?

every theriotype I have I saw myself as that animal in a dream and have shifts related to them. I take what I see in those dreams and look for real life animals that match not only the looks but behaviours.

I most commonly have dreams about being a wolf, and how I looked in those dreams is represented best by a tundra wolf.

same applies to harbor seal and flying fox!

🌲- for polytherians, is there a theriotype you would consider your "main" or "primary"?

yes! it really depends on where i am and the season, during the spring and fall, my fox theriotype is a lot more prominent mainly because of how green the forests are without it being that hot :) during the summer, my harbor seal theriotype is more prominent because i go swimming a lot more! thats why im so excited to go on vacation in the caribbean soon :3 and during winter, my wolf theriotype is more prominent i think, now i only awakened as this recently, so it might change, especially since im gonna be by the beach soon even when its warm. but feeling the cool air on my face while wearing big coats, and laying on cold rocks by the beach are very euphoric for me :3

Minecraft-induced mental shift?

funny thing that happened recently… i think i got my first harbor seal shift through minecraft (still questioning my seal theriotype)

i was playing minecraft a couple days ago riding a boat in the ocean, when i look to my side and see a dolphin actively swimming right next to me! it went on for a few seconds and i think that got me shifty hahah i just started involuntarily thinking about being a seal swimming in the ocean with this dolphin and i started doing this thing like swaying my knees in opposite directions and knocking them into each other and i assume i did it to feel like i was swimming with my legs as a seal tail… very interesting experience!!

still not 100% on whether im sealkin or not but this was cool to experience lol

If your kintype suddenly opened their eyes, what would they be looking at?

For my white tern theriotype, probably with the open ocean hunting for food or in a tree just hanging out.

For my harbor seal theriotype maybe a glacier or nice beach to rest on before going back to the water.

For my dhole theriotype probably a steppe with lots of shrubs and dead grass.

Do you like sticks?

For my dhole theriotype ABSOLUTELY. I just got some good sticks to chew I'm very excited. For my white tern theriotype I think it's a maybe. They don't build nests or anything so not super into sticks. For harbor seals, again, not super into sticks. HOWEVER, my dhole theriotype is very much part of my baseline personality so sticks are WINNING

Intro Post I Guess?

Since I want to actually interact with people and the therian community on tumblr I think I should probably have an intro post of some kind. So here it is.

You can call me Tern, and I use any pronouns! Seriously. Anything is game. He/him, she/her, they/them, I honestly have no preference. I'm currently in college studying criminal justice.

I'm polytherian and my theriotypes (in no particular order) are a white tern, harbor seal, and dhole!

I'm just kinda vibing on tumblr because it never occured to me that "hey, there's therians on tumblr". Because I'm not always using my brain.

If given a cellphone, what would your kintype do with it?

I don't think my white tern theriotype could even pick up a cellphone, so probably just look at it then leave it be.

Harbor seal would probably break it by bringing it into the water to play with it. Or just on accident because phones and teeth generally don't mix.

As for my dhole theriotype, it would probably either be indifferent, or maybe chew on it. Could go either way to be honest.
