How would you seduce podiatrist Larys?
I think the girlies need to hear this!
Oops! Here's a short story for you.
Title: Dr. Strong
Pairing: Modern!Podiatrist!Larys Strong/Female Reader with foot fungus
Tumblr media
You were surprised that the student health plan at Westerosi University had coverage to see an on-campus podiatrist. It was disappointing not to have dental insurance, but your current dilemma involved your toes, and not your teeth.
Your mother drilled it in your head before leaving for school.
Make sure you always wear your shower flip-flops. Those communal bathrooms are bacteria mines! Her voice echoed in your brain as you made your way into the small, brightly lit office where a handsome, muscular, curly-haired receptionist sat, his eyes glued to the computer screen in front of him.
Of course, your mother was right. One time. One time without shower shoes and your big toenail on the right foot turns a shade of Simpson yellow.
Foot fungus. You were sure of it.
And it was your resident advisor who suggested taking a visit to Dr. Strong's office down at the student health clinic.
You hand your ID to the receptionist. The silver rectangular nametag had HARWIN written in bold print. His large hands point to an empty exam room to his left. "Room 4. My brother will be with you in a minute."
The posters with graphic images of foot diseases along the walls made you queasy as you make yourself comfortable, sitting down and taking off your socks and sneakers.
As promised, Doctor Larys Strong entered the room not 5 minutes later, his greasy curls falling over his eyes as he limped towards you.
You felt a pain in your heart, seeing his struggle as it came to your understanding that this job must be personal to him.
"Good afternoon. I'm Doctor Strong. And you must be Miss Y/LN."
"Y/N is fine." You smile, his blue eyes shining brightly as he returns it.
"So what seems to be the problem today?" He flips up the chart in his hand, clicking the back of his pen, already jotting down several notes.
"Well... um..." You place your naked foot onto the stool provided in front of the chair, flexing your big yellow toenail.
His eyes divert to the ground and his cheeks seem to redden.
"Oh god... It's bad isn't it?" You panic. You knew it. Your toe would have to be amputated.
"Well-" Doctor Strong begins, leaning down, carefully supporting his weight on the wooden cane he carried with him. "It's definitely not ideal."
A tear rolls down your cheek. "Are- Are you going to chop my toe off?"
Larys' eyes shoot up to meet yours, carefully examining your expression, unsure if you were being serious. "Chop it-? No! Of course not. I'm just going to prescribe some anti-fungal cream and advise you to keep your feet dry."
"Oh thank god." You breathe out a huff of air you hadn't realized you had been holding.
"Might I be so bold?" The doctor interrupts your thoughts. "As to mention that yellow is my favourite colour." He smirks, causing you to chuckle, a tiny snort erupting from your nose as well.
"Oh..." You twirl your ankle around, examining the infected nail. "It's actually... mine too."
Your heart flutters has he takes your heel in the palm of his hand. "I feel like your gentle foot would benefit from a massage."
"I don't know if my coverage-" You begin.
"It would be on the house." He replies, his nose pressing against the skin and taking a sniff.
You're surprised by his actions, but you admit that the attention feels nice. Cinderella had always been your favourite Disney movie growing up, and though your sneakers were no glass slippers, you had still found a prince.
"Would it be possible if I could take some pictures of your feet... for the medical journal I am publishing, of course. Some before and after shots of the treatment progressing." Larys asks, and you nod shyly as he pulls out his phone.
Your foot still rests in his hand, as he snaps a few pics. Moaning as he does so, causing you to raise an eyebrow.
"Is everything okay?"
He nods. "I've had many patients walk through those doors... but none with feet so... immaculate as yours."
He puts his phone away as he finishes, quickly jotting down some more notes and handing you a prescription pad.
"Apply this cream twice daily and we should start seeing results within the next couple of weeks."
You nod, as he holds out his free hand to help you from the chair. "Follow the instructions closely. We don't want to risk the infection spreading... though a pop of colour isn't the most... horrible thing..."
You feel your face heat up with embarrassment and flattery.
"I would like to schedule you in for another appointment 4 weeks from today."
4 weeks? Could the throbbing between your thighs wait that long for your feet to be touched again?
"Yes, Doctor Strong."
"Please, call me Larys."

Rating the NHL mascots - Part 2
Part 1 is here
Minnesota Wild
Nordy
Tumblr media
What are you, Nordy? Officially, Nordy is a "wild animal" which is just SUPER helpful, Minnesota. Thanks. He's got a sweet face, though. I like the extra colouring that keeps him from being boring. I feel like he'd benefit from some sharp teeth though. Give the boy some ferocity. Assuming he's the kind of wild animal that can be ferocious? WHO FUCKIN' KNOWS???
Vibes: 7/10
Aesthetics: 9/10
Horror: 2/10
Fuckability: 6/10
Overall, 6/10. Could be better, but the inability to commit hurts Nordy's potential.
Buffalo Sabres
Sabretooth
Tumblr media
I may not have much in this world, but one of the things that I do have is a degree in palaeontology. This goofy looking motherfucker is not an accurate sabretooth cat and I have decided to take that personally. This is a cartoon tiger with dental issues. This is Tony the Tiger's inbred cousin. He's not OK. At least he looks relatively kind, if a little concerned.
Vibes: 5/10
Aesthetics: 1/10
Horror: 1/10
Fuckability: 1/10
Overall, 2/10. Is it too much to ask for to have palaeontologically accurate mascots in 2023?
Nashville Predators
Gnash
Tumblr media
Is this a joke? Am I a joke to you? ANOTHER sabre tooth cat? Jesus fucking christ. OK, this one isn't AS bad. It's not good, but it's not as bad as the last entry. Actual sabre teeth, a sculpted cat head, team colours can be forgiven for mascot purposes. The lower jaw is all wrong and the stripes are conjecture at best, but the overall effect doesn't fill me with the same blind rage as Buffalo's cat. Gnash is getting by on a loaded comparison. His name is pretty cool though.
Vibes: 6/10
Aesthetics: 4/10
Horror: 5/10
Fuckability: 3/10
Overall, 4.5/10. Literally skating through because Sabretooth is SO bad and SO fresh in my memory. Take the wins where you can, Gnash.
Florida Panthers
Stanley C. Panther
Tumblr media
Florida somehow has two mascots? I'm going with Stanley, but please do be aware of, I assume, Matthew Tkachuk's best friend: Victor E. Rat.
Stanley, here, is a panther. Of course. And he's fine. Just fine. Another big cat, underwhelming design, pretty minimal costuming. He's got a reasonably characterful face. I feel like a good performer could make him work, but in still images he's lacklustre. Sorry, Stanley.
Vibes: 6/10
Aesthetics: 3/10
Horror: 3/10
Fuckability: 6/10
Overall, 4.5/10. Middling score for a middling mascot. Maybe I should have gone with Victor...
New York Islanders
Sparky the Dragon
Tumblr media
Got myself tied in knots about this one because the Isles have made some attempts to move on from Sparky, it seems. There's an absolutely horrifying fisherman named Nyisles that I won't ever unsee. The NHL website says Sparky, though, so Sparky it is! He's a dragon! Look at his lil wings! Good teeth, bright colours, horns for holding. What's not to love? Literally nothing. Except the fact that he's mascot for the Isles... but that's not what we're doing here.
Vibes: 10/10
Aesthetics: 10/10
Horror: 4/10
Fuckability: 8/10
Overall, 8/10. He's a dragon! I love me a dragon! I don't care!
St Louis Blues
Louie
Tumblr media
Louie, OK. Blue, OK. Wipe clean mouth? OK, I guess. Why a bear, though? And why such a pale blue? This thing must be a nightmare to keep clean. Good ear shape, kind face, not quite hitting the bear perfection that is Carlton but a decent effort. The muzzle really is throwing me as a weird design choice. Like, OK, it does make the face more visually interesting but it also just looks like Louie has a skin problem. Does he have mange? We simply don't know.
Vibes: 7/10
Aesthetics: 7/10
Horror: 3/10
Fuckability: 5/10
Overall, 5.5/10. Mostly because I'm concerned about his health. I don't want to catch mange.
Detroit Red Wings
Al the Octopus
Tumblr media
Oh yeah, now we're talking. I actively hate this for a million reasons but it's so fucking insane that I also kind of love it! I do wish that Detroit fans would stop throwing octopuses onto the ice because that is no fate for a poor cephalopod. But look! It's a giant tentale monster! He looks MEAN! That's not just a guy in a bad fur suit! it's interesting and that's worth big points. I fully believe that Al would beat the shit out of me for no reason.
Vibes: 10/10
Aesthetics: 9/10
Horror: 9/10
Fuckability: 10/10
Overall, 9.5/10. Horrible, never stop.
Philidelphia Flyers
Gritty
Tumblr media
Now, this is podracing! Gritty is how you do weird, undefined monster mascots properly. Gritty emerged following construction work at the Philidephia arena and is best described as a force for chaos. The eyes are wild, the energy is all over the place, the flow is spectacular, and the best part of Gritty's launch was the speed with which Philidelphia went from rejecting their new freak to declaring Gritty the new godking. Oh, you think Gritty is an ugly monster? Fuck you, we love them. Gritty is also undeniably a queer ally/icon/community leader? Hard to say exactly, but it's there. Immaculate vibes. Shame we can't say the same about everyone on the team...
Vibes: 10/10
Aesthetics: 10/10
Horror: 10/10
Fuckability: 10/10
Overall, 10/10. Gritty, hit me up. I have a short list of Flyers I need you to eat. Thanks, babe.
Ottawa Senators
Spartacat
Tumblr media
Someone please get this lion a good haircare routine? Dear god, Spartacat. You leave the house looking like this? There's something almost endearing about how wet and pathetic this lion looks. He's just giving nothing. I want to nominate him for Queer Eye.
Vibes: 6/10
Aesthetics: 4/10
Horror: 2/10
Fuckability: 4/10
Overall, 4/10. Honestly, it's a pity fuck as well. Someone please help this lion.
Montreal Canadiens
Youppi!
Tumblr media
What IS it? A man? Why is it so hairy? It might be a giant (lol) but that doesn't explain much at all. I HATE this. I think that's a fully body beard. You could shave that and maybe find just a normal man underneath. It's SO orange which just looks jarring with the Montreal colours. Bad. I would turn around and walk the other direction if I saw this on the street.
Vibes: 2/10
Aesthetic: 1/10
Horror: 8/10
Fuckability: 0/10
Overall, a generous 3/10. Please never make me look at Youppi! again.
Vancouver Canucks
Fin the Whale
Tumblr media
They anthropomorphised a whale. That feels like it should be a crime. Certainly the way they've gone about it is. Fin loses points for having his dorsal fin on the back of his head and not, y'know, his actual back. He also appears to have no tail which is a real shame. Tails are a great design choice in almost every situation. I do like the sharp teeth and red tongue, though. Very suggestive. This feels like a missed opportunity. Fin could have been a lot better but they took the easy path instead of the interesting one. Boo you, Canucks design team.
Vibes: 7/10
Aesthetics: 4/10
Horror: 5/10
Fuckability: 6/10
Overall, 5.5/10. I really wanted to like this more. I'm going to think about Ethan Bear for a minute to cheer myself up.
San Jose Skarks
S J Sharkie
Tumblr media
No points for originality on the name, but for literally everything I just said about Fin? Sharkie gets it right. His dorsal fin is in the right place, he has shark elements beyond his head with those little elbow fins. Clear evidence that it's possible to make a weird sea creature/man hybrid without being boring AF. The head is a weird shape, but I'm feeling too much goodwill towards Sharkie right now to really mind. Nice teeth, too. I would have loved to have seen rows of teeth, maybe with some missing for a real hockey feel.
Vibes: 8/10
Aesthetics: 8/10
Horror: 6/10
Fuckability: 8/10
Overall, 7.5/10. A good score for a very smooth boy. Smooth in every direction.
Arizona Coyotes
Howler the Coyote
Tumblr media
Hims feets too big for hims gotdamn shoes! I haven't ever actually seen a coyote before, so I had to go looking for a comparison. Conclusion? Why is his face so wide? I do like the very pointy nose, though. We've seen too many soft faced predators, this boy has a SNOUT. Got some lil teefies too, I like that. And a tail. I keep coming back to the feet busting out of the shoes though, like some teen wolf knock off. I kinda love it.
Vibes: 9/10
Aesthetics: 8/10
Horror: 4/10
Fuckability: 8/10
Overall, 7/10. Very good showing for a pointy faced doggo who needs new shoes.
Columbus Blue Jackets
Stinger
Tumblr media
Help. Serously, please help me. Look at this thing. It's a bug, meant to be a play on blue jackets/yellow jackets. But I don't know what a yellow jacket is so any cleverness is kind of lost on me. This is HORRIBLE. They really went all in on making this unpleasant and I can applaud that, even as I hate it viscerally. And I do. The eyes, the butt, the rictus grin, the colour... It is offensive to mine eyeballs. I love it. One note, they should have given it another set of limbs.
Vibes: 1/10
Aesthetics: 10/10
Horror: 8/10
Fuckability: 0/10
Overall, 5/10. Awful. I can't look away.
Honourable mention to Boomer, the other Blue Jackets mascot who is just an anthropomorphic cannon. Great moustache. I wonder if Johnny Gaudreau is afraid of it.
Anaheim Ducks
Wild Wing
Tumblr media
I do not believe that Wild Wing's designer had ever seen a duck. I'm not sure that the person who described duck to the designer or Wild Wing had ever seen a duck either. I think the description of a duck may have passed through as many as 15 people who had never seen a duck before reaching Wild Wing's designer. Oh Holly, you're so harsh. It's a duck in a hockey mask. OK, so they hadn't seen a modern hockey mask either. I like the mean expression, somehow through a mask, the Donald Duck-esque nudity, and the feet design. Almost a horse-sized duck.
Vibes: 7/10
Aesthetics: 6/10
Horror: 5/10
Fuckability: 4/10
Overall, 5.5/10. You're no good, duck. You'll never be shit. You're just like your father.
Chicago Bad Team
Tommy Hawk
Tumblr media
That's a turkey.
Vibes: 0/10
Aesthetics: 0/10
Horror: 0/10
Fuckability: 0/10
0/10. Boo.

Ok sure giant robots that stop falling stars are cool, but now let me ask the real question. In your post about synthetic food you said it was healthier, which made me question a question, what's the life expectancy in nations, and non nations, these days? We have seen they have a very advanced understanding of medicine and biology so what's the healthcare system like? What kind of surgeries are state covered, which kind are not? Do jobs now also have new type of health benefits apart from dental coverege? Do they *have* teeth or are they synthetic?? Just general info about the conditions of living in the nations and enclaves of the world
Global life expectancy in 2212 is 130.2, Axis and UNÉTA go to high 140s.
Medicine is about maximizing, not protecting health. Everyone gets treatment, sick or not. Everyone is on medical coke, which is good for you. Everyone smokes health cigarettes, which are still addictive to ensure diligence. Children are taught to smoke in grade 1.
Tumblr media
There are many kinds, but these are for your throat
Impulsion
Or impulsive recovery strain, the biggest thing since vaccines, is a stem cell sample taken from fetuses, altered and reinserted. It makes you ageless until 60, wanes off by 80, after 120 implants keep you alive. It's biological infrastructure that makes other treatments possible.
People under 80 can take surgery like it's fixing a tooth, so the cure for many ailments is transplant. For vital organs, you get corporal insurance - spares are grown from your own cells and kept preserved. All else, you must wait until it grows. Yes, you can do SRS this way, but your genes decide the details.
Growing organs gets tough over 80 so the older you get, the less human amd more prosthesis you are.
Tumblr media
This counts as granny fashion.
Impulsion does vectoring for gene therapy and fixes common disorders like hemophilia or color blindness. It lets you take much more brutal meds with bearable side effects. It also regulates metabolism, so bye bye diabetes-2 and obesity.
Many countries make it mandatory since it saves a looot of money. There are, of course, conspiracy theories against it. If you're not strained, you're screwed - medicine is now poison, safety standards got lower and food has slight amounts of petroleum products. 21.7% of humankind is unstrained by 2212.
There's also stem sickness, which is when the strain is faulty. It's lifelong, incurable, potentially horrific and often fatal. It's one of the worst ways to go, so you usually have right to euthanasia while you can still make sound decisions.
By country
In Axis, everything that we today would call more medicine than indulgence is state funded for all citizens. Quality varies - the General Secretary of Security gets a fancier fake liver than your great-great-grandma; lathe technicians get limbs as corporal insurance; firefighters get lung filters, and so on. Axis has less economic muscle than UNÉTA, so it enforces prevention rigorously. Keeping your kid from straining is a felony.
Transatlantic healthcare is, like everything UNÉTA, decentralized. Your local govt sets the rules, and those often shunt responsibility to companies (read: co-ops). Prevention is less consistent, and so you end up spending more on treatment. Federal healthcare still covers the basics, including all emergency services, life-threatening conditions and straining.

Quote
One system that tries to level the playing field by supporting network development for those who don’t — or can’t — start building these networks early enough is basic income. Sometimes we need to disrupt the power of a preferential attachment cycle, whether it’s to improve equity or just the flow of ideas, by increasing the number of people who can contribute. There is no one definition of basic income. In some definitions it is income distributed to everyone within a geographic region regardless of other income or assets. In other definitions it is given out on a scale that factors in other wealth. Sometimes it is presented as a taxable income; other times it is put forward as a tax-free benefit. Regardless of the particular definition, “the one fundamental defining characteristic of a basic income of any type is that it must be unconditional.” The recipient of a basic income does not have to do anything to justify the continued receipt of the income if they stay in the same geographical region. In this sense basic income is very different from welfare, which is a conditional income often dependent on job searches, ability to work, and neither owning nor accumulating any assets. It is subject to the discretion of caseworkers and thus is inherently unstable and subjective. One of the arguments for basic income, as presented by Philippe van Parijs and Yannick Vanderborght in their book on the subject, is that much of what we earn must be ascribed not to our efforts, but to externalities which owe nothing to them. Although we may tell ourselves that our success is solely the result of our efforts, a significant contributing factor is the number of connections we have. Some of these connections seem obvious, like family connections to jobs or educational connections to information. Others, though, many of us take for granted. If we think of the network we engage with in order to work, connections to dentists and other health services, to quality child care, or to landlords and banks for housing security, we can see that success means leveraging a large network composed of many nodes. Often the connection to a node is solely a matter of money. Education costs money, and so do dentists. It’s harder to get a job with minimal education, or poor dental hygiene, or a lack of reliable access to a shower. Basic income programs are usually designed to provide enough money to meet these core requirements in order for people to have the option of pursuing meaningful work or social contribution. We can think of people using basic income to increase their access to nodes in a network that will then accrue opportunities. [...] Parijs and Vanderborght are careful to note that a basic income does not aim to equalise outcomes. “Rather, it aims to make less unequal, and distribute more fairly, real freedom, possibilities, and opportunities.” Essentially, it aims to equalise the benefits of preferential attachment.

Exploring the Essential Duties of Dental Hygienists in Oral Health
Tumblr media
The Role of Dental Hygienists in Oral Health
As a dental hygienist, I am proud to play a crucial role in maintaining oral health and promoting overall well-being. While dentists are often the face of dental care, dental hygienists work alongside them to provide essential services and support. We are the unsung heroes who work diligently to ensure that patients receive comprehensive and effective oral care.
Duties of Dental Hygienists
One of the primary duties of dental hygienists is to perform thorough dental cleanings. We use specialized tools and techniques to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from the teeth. This process, known as scaling and polishing, helps prevent gum disease and tooth decay. Additionally, we educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and the use of mouthwash.
Another important duty of dental hygienists is to perform oral health assessments. We examine patients' teeth and gums, looking for signs of decay, periodontal disease, and other oral health issues. Identifying these problems early on can help prevent further damage and recommend appropriate treatments.
Importance of Regular Dental Check-ups
Regular dental check-ups are vital for maintaining oral health. Dental hygienists contribute to this by conducting preliminary examinations and screenings. We assess a patient's oral health, identify potential concerns, and communicate these findings to the dentist. By detecting issues early, we enable prompt treatment and minimize the risk of more serious dental problems.
Moreover, dental hygienists play a key role in educating patients about the importance of regular check-ups. We emphasize the long-term benefits of preventive care, such as early detection of oral cancer, gum disease prevention, and maintaining overall oral health. By promoting regular dental visits, we empower patients to take control of their oral health and prevent potential complications.
Dental Hygienist vs. Dentist: Understanding the Difference
While both dental hygienists and dentists are essential to oral health care, there are distinct differences in their roles and responsibilities. Dentists are highly trained professionals who diagnose and treat oral diseases, perform complex procedures, and provide comprehensive dental care. Dental hygienists, on the other hand, focus primarily on preventive care and assisting dentists in providing treatments.
Dental hygienists work closely with dentists, supporting them in various procedures such as taking dental X-rays, applying fluoride treatments, and administering local anesthesia. We also provide patient education and counselling on oral health maintenance and disease prevention. By working in tandem, dentists and dental hygienists create a comprehensive and effective oral healthcare team.
Educational Requirements for Dental Hygienists
To become a dental hygienist, individuals must complete a rigorous educational program. Most dental hygiene programs require at least an associate degree, but many hygienists choose to pursue a bachelor's or master's degree to enhance their knowledge and career opportunities. These programs cover various subjects, including anatomy, physiology, radiography, periodontology, and dental hygiene techniques.
In addition to formal education, dental hygienists are required to pass national and state licensing exams to practice legally. These exams assess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe and effective dental care. Continuous education is also essential for dental hygienists to stay updated on the latest advancements and techniques in the field.
Skills and Qualities of a Successful Dental Hygienist
Being a successful dental hygienist requires a unique set of skills and qualities. Excellent communication skills are paramount as we interact with patients on a daily basis, explaining procedures, and providing oral health education. We must be compassionate and empathetic, as many patients experience anxiety or fear during dental visits. Patience and attention to detail are also crucial, as we perform meticulous cleanings and assessments.
Moreover, dental hygienists must possess strong manual dexterity to maneuver dental instruments accurately and efficiently. We also need critical thinking skills to identify and address oral health issues effectively. Staying updated with the latest advancements in dental hygiene, such as new tools and techniques, is essential to provide the best possible care to our patients.
Tools and Techniques Used by Dental Hygienists
Dental hygienists utilize various tools and techniques to perform their duties effectively. Some of the common tools include ultrasonic scalers, hand scalers, and polishing instruments. These instruments allow us to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from the teeth. In addition, we use dental mirrors, probes, and explorers to assess the condition of the teeth and gums.
Techniques such as scaling, root planning, and polishing are employed to ensure thorough cleaning and prevent the development of oral health issues. Dental hygienists also use dental X-rays to obtain detailed images of the teeth and supporting structures, aiding in the diagnosis of dental conditions. By employing these tools and techniques, dental hygienists contribute to maintaining optimal oral health.
Common Oral Health Issues and How Dental Hygienists Can Help
As dental hygienists, we encounter a range of common oral health issues in our daily practice. Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is a prevalent condition that we frequently address. We educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices to prevent gum disease, and for those already affected, we perform scaling and root planing to remove bacteria and promote healing.
Tooth decay is another common issue that dental hygienists strive to prevent. We educate patients on the importance of regular brushing, flossing, and fluoride use to maintain healthy teeth. Additionally, dental hygienists apply dental sealants to protect the vulnerable surfaces of the teeth, reducing the risk of cavities.
The Future of Dental Hygiene: Emerging Trends and Advancements
The field of dental hygiene is constantly evolving, with new trends and advancements shaping the future of oral health care. One emerging trend is the integration of technology in dental hygiene practice. Digital imaging, electronic health records, and tele dentistry are revolutionising how dental hygienists deliver care, improving efficiency and patient outcomes.
Another significant development is the increasing focus on preventive care and patient education. Dental hygienists are playing a pivotal role in promoting oral health awareness, emphasizing the importance of regular check-ups, and empowering patients to take proactive steps in maintaining their oral health.
Conclusion: The Vital Role of Dental Hygienists in Maintaining Oral Health
In conclusion, dental hygienists are indispensable members of the oral healthcare team. We perform crucial duties such as dental cleanings, oral health assessments, and patient education to maintain and promote oral health. By working closely with dentists, utilizing specialized tools and techniques, and staying updated with advancements, dental hygienists ensure that patients receive comprehensive and effective care. As the future of dental hygiene progresses, we will continue to play an even more integral role in oral health and overall well-being.

Hey folks, I’m having a shit time of things financially speaking, being out of work since late January. My housemate is barely making enough on her own to keep us fed and keep the lights on, and that’s with some savings to dip into (for now).
I’m trying to find work, but I’m struggling because most of the remote jobs available for my area are in health insurance sales, and getting and staying licensed would be expensive for me. If anyone can help with some ideas of the sort of work I should look for, here are the Musts:
- Work From Home (I assist with medical needs in my house, so this is ideal)
- $15/hr minimum
- Training and equipment provided
- Medical and dental benefits (I have some dental work that severely needs doing, and very soon, or I’m at risk for losing at least one tooth completely)- Day 1 benefits ideal
- No licenses or certifications required, or to be paid for during training by the company
- My main skills are Microsoft Office, typing, and call center experience, but tbh my mental health can’t handle much customer service work anymore, so minimal direct interaction with customers is desired.
If anyone can throw me some ideas or knows the kind of work that would fit into that list, I’d hella appreciate it. I’m getting kind of desperate, and opening up art commissions has never worked out for me in the past, so I don’t expect it to be any help now.
Thanks guys, and be well.

Children's Dentist
A children's dentist is an expert in treating children's oral problems. They provide children with preventive treatment, address dental problems, and advance the youngsters' intellectual and physical growth. Children's dentists are also known as pediatric dentists. This field of employment is extremely specialized and calls for specialized training. The following procedures are usually carried out by a pediatric dentist.
A pediatric dentist looks after children's teeth and gums while also educating parents on the importance of providing their kids with the best dental treatment. Along with taking care of your child's dental health, they will also teach you about bad behaviours and provide food suggestions. This is important because what you give your child may eventually affect how their permanent teeth erupt.
The most current advancements in pediatric dentistry will also be known to pediatric dentists. For example, research has shown that the natural sugar substitute xylitol can aid in protecting your teeth from decay and harmful bacteria. Your kid can benefit from this new knowledge and the most up-to-date techniques for problem diagnosis by visiting a pediatric dentist on a regular basis.
In addition to what they learned in dental school, many pediatric dentists have extra training. They can learn more about the needs of infants as a result. They can provide better patient treatment and eliminate the stigma attached to visiting the dentist, thanks to their specialization in pediatric dentistry. As a consequence, there is a high demand for pediatric dentists.
To become a pediatric dentist, you must finish specialized training. Dental schools usually demand a two- to three-week rotation in pediatric clinics. You get hands-on practice treating babies and kids during this rotation in pediatric dentistry. Regularly taking board-review classes and staying current on industry changes are also prerequisites for continuing education.
A pediatric dentist is one who specializes in the oral health needs of minors. Following dental school, these dentists will finish an additional two or three years of specialized training. They might even seek board certification to prove their expertise in pediatric dentistry. Whatever strategy a juvenile dentist uses, it's important to have tolerance, empathy, and knowledge of children's concerns.
A juvenile dentist is a dentist who treats young patients. They are trained to recognize and treat a wide range of dental illnesses. Kids are frequently more prone to dental decay, so a pediatric dentist can help you decide the best course of action for your child's care. There are many benefits to visiting a youth dentist. You can save a lot of money if you first pay for the required treatment.
For pediatric dentists, attending an accredited dentistry school is a requirement. They must then complete a two- to three-year residency school and obtain board certification after that. Students in this school will study cutting-edge medical subjects like oral surgery, anesthesia, and sophisticated life-saving techniques.
A variety of crucial procedures are performed for young patients by pediatric dentists. These treatments are necessary for children because they frequently have decayed or missing teeth. They may fill cavities with a variety of materials to prevent them from extending to neighbouring teeth. Silver amalgam and ceramic porcelain are two common filling materials.
An occasional molar extraction may be necessary for a child. If the child has serious tooth decay, a filling or crown won't be enough to fix the problem. To straighten a permanent tooth, it might occasionally be necessary to extract a molar. These operations, which were formerly known as "pulp treatments," are frequently carried out following a serious accident or extensive tooth decay.
To help your kid feel more at ease during the procedure, a pediatric dentist may choose to administer anesthesia. The child's comfort level and medical history are usually taken into account when deciding on the best course of action. Pediatric dentists occasionally use nitrous oxide, also known as "laughing gas," which is given via a mask put over the child's nostrils. Nitrous oxide and oxygen both assist the infant in breathing through their nose while the sedative soothes their nerves.
Pediatric dentists must also have emotional intelligence and experience dealing with anxious patients and concerned parents. Parents are frequently the primary source of children's dental anxiety, so pediatric dentists must be able to put kids at ease. When working with children who have high levels of anxiety, mental health experts must frequently consult one another about the most effective ways to manage their patients.
The anxiety about the procedure is increased by the fact that some children fear visiting the doctor. By directing a child's behaviour and lowering the possibility of injury, sedation can help reduce this worry. Additionally, it may be advantageous for kids with particular needs.

Congress must listen to working families and overhaul healthcare, minimum wage and education
Americans are united on some of the most important issues facing our country and they want government to address them
Bernie Sanders Mon 9 Jan 2023
I am proud to be assuming the chairmanship of the US Senate’s health, education, labor and pensions committee (HELP), a committee with wide jurisdiction over some of the most important issues facing the American people. As I move into that position I’m thinking about how we can best address some of the serious challenges facing my fellow Vermonters and working families all across the country.
Today, in terms of health, we have a dysfunctional healthcare system in which we spend the astronomical and unsustainable sum of nearly $13,000 for every man, woman and child, twice as much as most developed countries and almost 20% of our GDP. Yet, despite that huge expenditure, 85 million Americans are uninsured or underinsured and we have worse health outcomes and lower life expectancy than many other nations. While the insurance companies make huge profits, over 500,000 people declare bankruptcy each year from medically related debt, and over 68,000 die because they can’t afford the care they need. Our complicated and fragmented system is so broken that it cannot even produce the number of doctors, nurses, dentists and mental health personnel that we desperately need.
As a nation, we must focus on the reality that the function of a rational healthcare system is to provide quality care for all, not simply huge profits for the insurance industry.
Today, as we pay by far the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs, the pharmaceutical industry is making record-breaking profits and more than a few executives in drug companies are becoming billionaires. Meanwhile, despite billions in government investment in prescription drug research and development, nearly one out of four Americans are unable to afford the medicine their doctors prescribe and too many seniors are splitting their lifesaving pills in half because they can’t afford them. And because Medicare doesn’t cover dental, hearing and vision, there are millions of seniors who are trying to survive without these basic healthcare needs.
But it’s not just our healthcare “system” which needs a major overhaul. In terms of education, we need to take a hard look at how we are educating our kids – from childcare to graduate school.
While psychologists tell us that the first four years of life are the most important in terms of human intellectual and emotional growth, it’s hard to deny that our childcare system is in disarray. The cost is unaffordable for many working parents, there are not enough slots available, the quality is spotty and the pay and benefits childcare workers receive is unconscionably low. This is not how we should be treating our children, the future of America.
The situation in K-12 education is not much better. For a variety of reasons – lack of respect, low pay, the stress of Covid and the politicization of school boards – thousands of gifted and dedicated teachers are quitting the profession, leaving students unprepared for the challenges they face as they enter the adult world. The future of this country depends upon the quality of education we provide our kids, and there is no reason why we cannot create the best public educational system in the world.
In terms of higher education, we face the absurd situation of hundreds of thousands of bright young people who have the desire and ability to get a college education but cannot do so because their families lack the money. How many great doctors, scientists, and teachers are we losing as a result? There are also millions of young people who need training in order to become skilled mechanics, carpenters, welders, and electricians who are not getting the post-high school training they need. Further, 45 million Americans are struggling with student debt – sometimes in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
In terms of labor and our economy, we must recognize that we live in a period of more income and wealth inequality than at any time in the last hundred years. While the very rich become richer and three people now own more wealth than the bottom half of American society, 60% of American workers live paycheck to paycheck and millions are trying to exist on starvation wages. Meanwhile, we have a pathetic federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour which has not been raised since 2009.
As more and more workers try to improve their standard of living by forming unions, they are facing fierce and illegal union busting from such employers as Starbucks, Amazon, McDonalds and other major employers.
There is a lot of discussion in the media about how “divided” our nation is and, on many issues, that is absolutely true. But what we don’t appreciate is that on some of the most important issues facing our country the American people – Democrats, Republicans, independents – are quite united.
The American people know we are being ripped off by the drug companies and they want lower prescription drugs prices.
The American people know that our healthcare system is outrageously expensive and they want universal and lower cost health care.
The American people know that education is essential to our lives and the future of this country and they want high quality and affordable education from childcare to graduate school.
The American people know that no one can survive on a $7.25-an-hour minimum wage, and they want to raise the minimum wage to a living wage.
The American people know that workers have a constitutional right to form unions and that corporations that engage in illegal union busting activities must be held accountable.
And these are just a few of the issues within the jurisdiction of the HELP committee that a strong majority of the American people want us to address.
At a time when too many Americans are giving up on democracy, now is the time to attempt to restore faith in our government. Now is the time for Congress to have the courage to take on the lobbyists and powerful special interests and show the American people that our government can work for them, and not just the 1%. Let’s do it.

Difficulties Part 1
I usually keep pretty well to Austen or British literature of the last century, but as Jane Austen is very concerned with the plight of women, I wanted to share two small things that happened to me, that impress upon me the difficulty living in the world as a woman.
I had a job that I really loved at a university in Canada. I was unionized, had unlimited sick days, medical benefits, paid time off, a pension, and reasonable compensation. After about two years at this job I left for maternity leave, which in my country was 1 year at half pay. I was worried however, because my department had a nasty habit of laying off women during mat leave. This would usually be illegal, but research work is all based on grants and contracts, so it can happen more easily in my field than in others.
I was anxious about going back to work, but at the 10 month mark my boss emailed and asked if I could come back early. I agreed, partially because I was bored but also because I was worried I might lose my position if I didn’t go back. So I went back 3 days a week (I had actually started at this job 3 days a week and moved to five over time) and my son went to a great little home daycare. I made it clear to my manager that as I had a 2 hours a day commute, I didn’t want to work more days. I thought she would understand as she had also worked part time when she had young children.
2 months in, I was laid off. I was only 2 months away from my contract becoming permanent, something that happened automatically after 3 years. I also had worked so few hours that it was impossible for me to collect employment insurance. It turned out they just wanted me to cover a three month leave of another staff member.
Now I feel I must justify myself, I was good at my job. When the news got around, I was approached by several people I had worked with who offered themselves as references. One person even swore when she realized she’d have to train someone new on the complicated medical software that I had mastered (just ask a nurse or doctor how user friendly their medical records program is...). Even though they were not required to, many of the doctors I worked with still included my name on their published research papers.
Anyway, we were in a terrible position as a family. My husband and I had just purchased a new house, since my job had seemed secure. I fortunately had about a month’s vacation pay as a buffer, but that was it. My daycare graciously let me take my son out until I found another job, if I had lost my space it would have been worse. I desperately applied for jobs and eventually accepted one with the same employer that was not unionized.
I lost my pension, sick days, medical benefits, and paid vacation and was only given about 2 dollars more an hour in this new job. I never would have accepted it if I hadn’t been so desperate.
And the worst part is, the people who did this to me were all women. My manager and supervisor were both women. And they didn’t care. The one even seemed surprised that I was angry at the final meeting. She said it was best for the projects. I highly doubt it.
Anyway, this is my little proof that having a uterus and being a mother who wants to spend time with her child still can destroy your career and that you can’t rely on the compassion or humanity of your superiors.
Note: Why do I need medical benefits? I live in Canada, but we have a strange form of universal healthcare that covers all hospital and doctor visits, but not eye, dental, most therapy/mental health care or most medication. So for a person my age at the time, the most commonly covered would be things like birth control, glasses, dental visits, and physiotherapy.
And yes, this creates problems were someone with say, type two diabetes can’t afford their very cheap meds and instead ends up in the ER frequently which is super expensive. We have plans where if you are poor enough you get free medication but it’s a mess and honestly they need to fix it.

Greetings! Pardon me please for being this direct! 🙏 My little kitty needs your help as we are trying to raise some funds for her dental needs, I know times are tough but please if you have some time to spare, kindly boost/share the post I pinned for her. It would be so meaningful to me as I’m hoping it would reach more people.. please 💔🙏 praying you’d consider, and pls kindly send me a msg for a response or answer my ask privately so I could atleast thank you for doing us a favor! Wishing you good health and peace! 🫶🏽
Hi, I will not be reblogging your post as you have nothing on your blog from more than a day or so ago. Even if your ask is genuine you simply have not spent enough time on this website for me to give you the benefit of the doubt. This is also a very very frequently run scam on this site where people prey on others generosity and empathy for money.
I know even to be running a scam like this someone must be very desperate and I am very sorry for you. Regardless of why you are asking for money I know what it’s like to struggle with financial instability and I know it can be deeply frightening at times. All I can offer is that I wish you the best of luck in your future. I hope someday your luck changes and you get a leg up so you don’t have to be in this position anymore.
