How would your write a zukka proposal(with sokka proposing and making zuko a betrothal necklace?

I am actually not a huge fan of betrothal necklaces between zukka. Idk, the tradition seems more of a NWT thing and I like that they have their own way of life separate from the SWT and their traditions.

Also,,, knowing the betrothal necklace that belonged to Kya originally belonged to Kana and is now a family heirloom from their deceased mom… I just don’t see the romantic aspect for Sokka or Katara. Idk I think the necklace had a different meaning for them and a lot of mixed sentiments so yeah it’s just not something I headcanon sorry anon :)

YA sff set in the near future where an opensource augmented reality is commonly used like social media, and there’s also a completely virtual fantasy game version

follows an Anishinaabe girl who who’s the top player in the VR game, and is constantly fighting to keep her place against the misogynist neo-nazi group in second place

as well as her real life, dealing with being a shy and self-conscious teen growing up on the Rez, and her brother having cancer

and a Uyghur boy who’s moved to her community from China after finding acceptance in an online community (even when he doesn’t agree with their more extreme views) - but when he gets to know Bugz, he has to decide who truly deserves his loyalty

great mix of sff and culture, the future while also very real community traumas of the past (and present)

#walking in two worlds #the everlasting road #wab kinew #aroaessidhe 2024 reads #This has some REALLY interesting and important concepts!#I just think it could have used some more development… Obvs this is YA and I’m an adult I know I’m not quite the audience!#There’s a lot of depth in the setup of the characters but I feel like it skips a lot of the progression #I think there could have been space for more development in a lot of places to make the story feel more dimensional #- but also has so many plot threads that maybe that would have bulked it out too much #It does also jump around quite a bit between the different parts but I think that makes sense with how juggling with irl / online life.#she’s got a lot of internalised fatphobia at the start (and the love interest going “I don’t think you’re fat!!” when people call her fat..#then in book 2 suddenly she’s okay about it - again I wish there was some progression!#her brothers cancer journey is. basically all offscreen lol mostly as set up for plot in book 2. so it doesn't have the emotional impact it #could have..#I liked the way it integrates her culture into the game in a really cool way (though I would have liked more detail there)#also having auto language translators but they regularly don't translate quite right / still run into issues - realistic!#the parallels drawn between his being taken from his family and put in a state education school and Indigenous residential schools #the way that a future world will never be as separate from the past as ur average sff future often portrays #but yeah anyway lots of good ideas execution not so much for me..

so I changed the whole thing pretty much BUT.

Her animal is still a forest owlet, but her fruit is mangosteen. I changed things to fit mangosteen (quick drawing of mangosteen depicted on the left; ignore my attempt at a star fruit next to it. I was brainstorming)

Name: Mew Mango (not mangosteen cause that's too long to say :p) (slightly confusing) (I guess the whole thing is fine) (idk) (if anyone feels compelled you can create your own name I'd love to hear one) (I'm not being sarcastic)

Weapon: Da-mango-maru (instrument is a damaru)

Attack: ribbon mangostaan-u storm-o (or smthn)? (unsure on how well storm and the damaru match. but maybe the sound of the drum could be like rain?)

#frankly its been A Hot Minute since I've watched tokyo mew mew #but this is fun!#I feel like doing simon and maybe agatha too #I did the cape thing instead if the puffs because I wanted it to look like owl wings (plus stevie nicks ofc)#since I changed the color I wasn't sure how to make her look owl-ish #the glasses were the only owl thing besides the color and I don't know if it comes across #well the hair is shorter than I would usually draw penny's hair because I wanted it to have the owlet's silhouette but again #not sure if it reads like that #the choice of mangosteen is questionable. it might be too long. the book i have been proofing for work might be the first proofing project i give up on before the end of the book

#its not the worst thing i've ever read but also it's not very good #and the longer it goes on the worse it gets #unoriginal premise. quippy characters. too many characters introduced for no reason. characters retelling shit we just read over and over #there's at least three instances where a plot twist is revealed in an aside with the BBEG the chapter before it twists so it has no teeth #every woman is sex crazed (but don't worry its their religion/training/method of seduction/etc etc)#there have just been chapters where the protagonist and his love interest end up naked for basically no reason #also the most overt “the main character is autistic actually wait he has a demon in him eating his emotions” bullshit #not to mention the most ham-fisted attempts at representation that just feel disingenuous #they just introduced another set of characters doing a completely different thing from the main party and I DON'T CARE. SHUT UP #me gnashing my fucking teeth: if i was the editor i would have cut everything in this section and this one and this line sucks and #i only have a hundred pages left and if it dicked me around for 400 pages just to set up a sequel i will do a violence #AND THEY KILLED THE ANIMAL COMPANION. BEFORE HE EVEN GOT TO DO ANYTHING #DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHING? YOU NEVER KILL THE ANIMAL COMPANION. FUCK YOU

Part of me is team "leander is like that to everyone" bc he also plans to recruit MC into his Bloodhounds in the future ("not yet"). Despite knowing the Bloodhounds for years he isn't close to them. Makes me think he ups the charm and seduction to anyone who may be of use to him to get them to pledge their allegiance.

hi dumb messy little fic thing

Silence. The boys are in a shitty car Hajime was given by the Future Foundation. One Izuto Kamukura is sleeping silently in the backseat with a Hajime-sized red hoodie draped over him haphazardly.

Things are wordlessly tense. Despite the smaller boy showing no signs of waking up anytime soon, Hajime can feel what can only be described as the watchful eye of a predator stalking it’s prey.

“…Hinata” Izuto murmured, voice cracking from a clear lack of use.

“OH uh…morning?” Hajime responded, unease creeping it's way into his tone.

“It’s 12:56”

Hajime turns to the car’s broken clock, it's cracked screen barely glowing at all, let alone displaying the time.

“How can you — oh uh, yeah”

Silence slowly gripped the small car once again, it's claws making it almost hard to breathe. That is, until Hajime once again heard a noise from the backseat.

“Is it like you wanted?”

“Huh?”

“You were in the reserve course. You mentioned you used to be fixated on talent and more specifically, your inherent lack.”

“Oh, yeah, you were watching the game with her, weren’t you”

“You would be hard pressed to find someone who didn’t watch the game.”

“Hahah yeah, Junko was… a lot of things, but she definitely seemed to have had a strong effect on others. I mean, you have Mukuro and whatever was going on there, and you have the remnants—“

“You’re avoiding the question”

“What?”

“I asked you a question. I expect an answer”

“Oh yeah uh…I guess? It’s a lot more pressure then I thought it would be” Hajime couldn't help but let out an awkward laugh, his own desperate attempt at lightening the tension that the two had been drowning in.

“Elaborate”

“Why are you so interested in this? I thought everything was boring to you, Mr. God-among-ants.”

“Those are Enoshima’s words, not mine. You intrigue me, Hinata. I want to learn more about you and your psyche.”

“How am I interesting? What, are you gonna make fun of the octagon thing?”

“You’re a fellow Ultimate Hope, it’s only natural for me to want to investigate this talent in the wild. It’s hard to use yourself as a test subject for something so rare. Be glad I haven’t decided to dissect you yet.”

“Har har, good joke mr ultimate comedian”

...

“If you’re going to ignore my initial question, I have decided to move on”

“…ok?”

“What do you think they’re going to do with me?”

“What?”

“This is the second fastest route to the Future Foundation’s headquarters. What do you believe your superiors will do when you hand me over.”

“Oh well…they’ll probably put you on trial, and hold you accountable for your crimes.”

“Despite your overall...lack of abnormality, you’re smart, Hinata. You read the reports on what the academy did to me, and you know just how many of that staff was carried over to the Future Foundation. I was built to be a weapon. Do you truly think they could allow such a powerful resource to rot in a cell?”

“Well…”

“What do you think they’ll do when they get their hands on the remnants?”

“Wh-“

“What will happen to them, Hinata?”

“I-“

“What will happen to Nanami’s friends?”

“I DONT KNOW”

Hajime didn't mean to yell but it came out that way despite his intentions.

Silence ensues. Hajime assumes that Izuto has fallen asleep and lets out a sigh. He focuses on driving them for a while. That is until he hears an odd noise come from the back seat.

“Kamukura, what—“ he looks back to find tears falling from Izuto’s face

“I’m-” His voice gets caught on the way out.

“I’m scared, Hajime”

“I…”

Hajime turned to look Izuto in the eyes, he had never before seemed so. mentally present.

“…I won’t let them hurt you”

“…”

“Or the remnants.”

Izuto looks up at him, clarity shining through his eyes for a flicker of a blink of a moment.

“I promise”

“….”

Hajime turns his attention back to the road but he finds himself struggling to focus. They sit in silence for a beat. Izuto's voice is startlingly clear as he flatly states:

“If you truly want to keep your promise, you should watch where you’re driving”

“Wh—OH MY GOD”

Hajime then sharply swerves the wheel and very VERY narrowly misses one incredibly pissed Nagito Komaeda

He got a haircut recently but his mohawk is as stubborn as his personality.#Also a very rare moment of introspection from vince here. he's sorting things out. just a PSA here though I doubt I will ever make him date #Way too many things going on with him to consider a relationship of all things. He can have friends and family though :3 #Amon has a few other forms. I was considering doing this sooner but now I'm extra happy with the idea #Why does he only have three? why only apex predators? that's some lore I'll divulge at a different time #He uses his croccy form most- including when he's humanoid because it's most convenient. No shedding and lots more defense #he can tank bullets and quickly get down to business too. not to mention his croc-form dulled his emotions when it came to his old work #even when he looks 'human' he is always in one of those three forms. He also dislikes getting fur in his clothing.#Adra has a similar influence from these powers but doesn't have any shifting. More like little characteristics #Vincent usually covers Amon's lack of speed and evasiveness while Amon covers Vincent's lack of defense and (comparative) strength.#They bounce off of each other's vibes way too well sometimes but can get the job done in a chaotic but efficient way. Sera buddies them up #She sometimes carries missions with Amon because of his previous experience and range of powers for certain missions.#vincent doesn't like taking orders from Ser specifically but has surprisingly learned the concept of restraint and polity from amon.#ARK_SYSTEMA

Not to yuck your yum anon but I think that's one of the tropes those two will forever be immune to, I can't recall a movie aside from 'New Nobita's Great Demon' where they do not share a room.

It's par for the course with them, as evidenced with movies like the Antarctica one:

Of course the series would be a different ball park to talk about, but I like to take the movies word that they don't particularly care.

i think the fact that i mostly prefer drawing sokka and zuko in very quiet moments is telling. i didn’t think much of it at first but… it’s kind of a sense of what they deserve to have between each other, because the rest of their lives can be so hectic and intense, but also it’s what they Want to have with each other. they’re so so gentle when they’re alone, in a way that i think a lot of other atla ships (esp zuko ones) wouldn’t be. there’s no need for intensity because their relationship is built on the lack of that, it’s built on ease and a comfort they can’t find in others
