Mech Pilot AU thoughts
I'm leaning between Pacific Rim and Titanfall with this idea-mostly because Titanfall is the nicer end of "the mechs are/can become sentient" without the horror elements that NGE introduces
Marco's mech is a compliment to his father's.
Whitebeard, legendary mech pilot from back in the day, piloted a massive and fucking heavy beast of a mech unit that was wholly designed to level a battlefield and everything on it. When Whitebeard went to war, his side had to call active retreats on all positions in the ground assault because when he showed up he was absolutely going to reduce even their allied positions to pancakes. Rare was the day that Whitebeard left enemy survivors. The weakest points on Whitebeard's early design mech was the joints but unless you destroyed the cockpit (the most well protected point inside the behemoth), she could still move even with near critical damage to the joints. His big girl was made to keep moving and the only way to stop her was to destroy the legs and even then unless you also destroyed the arms this bad motherfucker was going to destroy everything in range anyway.
Marco's in contrast, was built to fly. Fast, light, and equipped with jet wings. Still well armored, still equipped with some gnarly guns, the weakpoint of Marco's bird was in the wings. The attachment areas to the back were designed to be easy to remove-pop in and out. If Marco is grounded due to wing damage, he can pop those suckers off and still jump fairly high and have high mobility on the ground. His was designed to work behind, physically on, and in tandem with Whitebeard's giant-a buddy to focus on destroying incoming missiles intended to stop Whitebeard in his tracks. With Marco around, he never stopped moving. With the whole Whitebeard fleet behind him? They never lost a battle and only the more-feared Rogers fleet could draw them to a standstill.
The Mechs developing sentience was unintended but welcomed. Whitebeard's chose the name Moby, was a jovial and gentle giant off the battlefield much like her pilot. When Whitebeard retired, his body unable to bear the strain in his mid 60s, Moby was devastated. They both knew it was coming, they both acknowledged it was needed in order Whitebeard to not just suffer a fatal heart attack or brain aneurysm inside the cockpit from the strain, and both hated it. Moby refused every attempt at a replacement pilot. Phoenix, in contrast to both Moby and Marco, is catty and moody and and elitist to the point that they rarely speak to anyone who isn't a "ranking officer" on par with Marco, Whitebeard, or Moby. They much prefer being left to themself, and on the battlefield typically treats other mechs and their partners as part of the scenery-to be climbed on if large enough or otherwise ignored unless they need assistance. Phoenix also is not immune to flattery, but is often suspicious of it unless Marco gives it his blessing.
Marco's chose the name Phoenix, he liked the imagery and the meaning. When Pops retired, both were nervous of the idea of stepping up into the lead. Sure, Jozu and Atmos and Blamenco all had physically larger-than-average mechs but they were still smaller than Moby and none could hit as hard. Pheonix was a heavy-hitting support, without the buddy he was designed to help. Both floundered a bit in the first year of their new leadership role, but upon finding their ground-with Pops leading logistics over their communications lines-they were somehow even more formidable than before (perhaps, some whispered, so they could make up for the lack of their greatest weapon no longer being in play).
Then came Ace, and Fire Fist. So named for experimental technology; flame throwers and a super-heated retractable sword that often just set the mech as a whole on fire. Ace, safe inside an airtight cockpit that's externally doused with all kinds of flame retardant, would cackle and Fire Fist would echo a laugh of their own. Small, fast, and lightly armored the mech would often take damage during fights-and just as easily shrug them off to roast enemy pilots alive inside their partners. Not every pilot even considers fire damage, let alone takes the measures that Ace and Fire Fist have to ensure their own safety with their equipment.
The audacity of these punks is beautiful, and Marco's smitten within a week. Phoenix takes a little time, but one compliment about their rockets setting a building ablaze is all it takes for them both.
Other idle thoughts: -Moby had, to begin with, a very stark white and gray paintjob. It faded over time and got all kinds of chips and wear/tear. Whitebeard's jumpsuit was navy blue with white highlights. -After retirement, Moby mostly hangs out at base and plays defense on the very few occasions someone attacks the WB directly. -Moby, appropriately, stands at 76 meters/250ft (PR jaeger height) -Phoenix is painted sky blue and usually enters battle from a high altitude-they match their surroundings and is difficult to spot visually and on radar. They much prefer it that way. The gold highlights were Marco's idea, as is the yellow/gold jumpsuit he wears when piloting. -Phoenix is much smaller than Moby, just about 9 meters/29.5ft (8.5 times smaller than Moby). He used to enjoy climbing all over the big guy, but after Whitebeard's retirement he now climbs all over Jozu/Blamenco/Atmos' mech's instead (each of which stand about 70-72 meters or 229-236ft) -Fire Fist is 8 meters/juuust over 26ft. He demanded that he be painted red and orange to match the fire laden equipment they use (he's a stickler for thematic matching). He's happy, fiery like Ace, but is easier going and prone to wanting to de-escalate rather than feed into an argument. Ace's jumpsuit, to match FF, is orange with red highlights.

ML What if: Alt Origins Part 4b
(Master post)
(What if Fu didn’t send out the miraculous in origins?)
(Exchange Hero au)
______________________________________________________________________
-The next day, Jess and Chloé end up butting heads when Marinette and Alya snatch the seats (like they did in the original origins.) And Jess and Aeon snatched the seats that Chloé and Sabrina sat in canon. So now Chloé and Sabrina are stuck in the back of the classroom.
-Alix laughs at Jess’ jokes and a bond is formed.
-Nino helps Adrien adjust to classroom life, with help from Marinette and he is having a great time.
-Ivan is super quiet after everything, doing his best not to draw attention to himself. He doesn't want people thinking worse of him after the incident. Plus, he does want to confess to Myléne, but feels like he would scare her.
-Marinette notices. Aeon, (who just discovered shipping) sees this and wants to help to. Aeon and Marinette talk to Ivan and help encourage him to confess with the song he wrote. But just like in Origins, it goes belly up.
_____________________________________________________________________
-Hawkmoth decides now is the time to strike. Having his akuma on standby he sends It out. The akuma has multiplied in the secret office and now went out like a swarm. Spreading out all over Paris. (Making random people into rock monsters.
-And Ivan gets akumatized again, (Stone heart is back)
- And just like in origins, he kidnaps Chloé and Myléne.
-Aeon and Jess slip out of the class room to go transform and fight the monster.
-Alya runs after to go get the scoop.
-Marinette runs after alya to prevent her from getting killed... again.
-Adrien also goes because he doesn't want to lose his new friends.
- Alya almost gets crushed by a car, but is saved when a laser slices it in half. Uncanny valley arrives.
-Alya was star struck. HEROES!
-”You are unharmed?” Uncanny Valley asked.
-”y-yes. Thank you.”
-Sparrow arrives.
-”Its dangerous work being a field reporter. So try and stay safe while we handle it.”
-Alya nods, starstruck.
-Uncanny valley scoops Sparrow up and they head to find the main stone giant.
-Meanwhile the other stone hearts start attacking.
-Marinette asks if Alya is okay, and she says she just got saved by super heroes. This day is amazing!
-Marinette sighs. Her friend is weird.
-”Do they know about the monster’s weak point?” Marinette questioned.
-Alya was confused.
-”Weakpoint?”
_______________________________________________________________________
Uncanny valley and Sparrow managed to catch up to the original stone heart. Who just like in canon, throws Chloé. But she is caught by sparrow. (Chloé now thinks sparrow is hot and Jess is mentally screaming.) But has to play it cool.
-Uncanny valley activates combat protocol and scans stone heart. Weak points unknown.
-”I can't get a proper analysis on him. I can't scan his weak points. And he has a hostage.”
-Sparrow put Chloé down and moved to Uncanny valley.
-”So we will have to make a weak point.
-But before they could (just like in canon) akuma pop out of an agony roaring stone heart. Forming Hawkmoth’s face.
-Hawkmoth demands that the new heroes arriving concede. He only is after two items. After he attains them he will leave. But any action against him will be seen as a threat, and the damage done to the city will be their fault.
-Sparrow tells the villain that he can't start making demands and act like he isn't guilty of causing the destruction. He is a jerk.
-Uncanny valley scans the akuma and deduces that they are not natural beings. But thanks to Majestia programing her to fight all sorts of foes. She was able to create a countermeasure against the akuma.
-”Countermeasure determined. extermination.”
-Basically a massive laser to destroy the akuma. It was calculated to avoid hitting the tower,
-”Nice work.” Sparrow praised.
-The two made their way to stone heart. Unfortunately, All of their attempts of fighting him only mad him angrier, and bigger.
-Marinette, Alya and Adrien make it to the scene. Where they can see the two heroes failing, Stoneheart was now getting bigger then before.
-”Poor Ivan.” Adrien comments. “He probably didn't want any of this.”
-”Its my fault, I encouraged him to tell Myléne how he felt and... Wait. Thats it.”
-Marinette started rushing to the tower.
-Adrien went after her, Alya tries to chase after the two, but officer roger noticed her and stopped her.
-Uncanny valley and Sparrow were finding themselves in a stalemate against the rock monster.
-”I wish Majestia was here, she could chuck this rock thing into the sun and be done with it.” Sparrow said, clearly tired.
-”Wait. I have an idea!”
The two heroes turned to see Their classmate there.
-Myléne noticed Marinette. She tells her to run.
-Stone heart roared and tried to swipe at Marinette, but Adrien pulled her out of harms way this time.
-”Cant let you get smushed princess.”
-”Princess?”
-Uncanny valley awws at the two. They are so cute.
-Sparrow manages to get the two away while Uncanny valley distracts the monster.
-”You said you had a plan?”
-Marinette explained that Ivan has a crush on the girl in his hand. If they can get them closer, they can get him to open his hand and get the item that is making him a monster.
-Sparrow decides its worth a try, because (she clearly has no other ideas on how to beat this monster.)
-So Marinette and Adrien start singing the song’s lyrics (minus the metal part) Causing Myléne to better understand what Ivan was trying to do.”
Sparrow then uses her grappling hook to wrap around stone hearts hand and have the two kiss. Causing Ivan to drop Myléne and the paper.
-Uncanny valley catches Mylene. The paper. The akuma flew off without them noticing.
-Though as it passed a rooftop, a yo-yo snags it before it could multiply again.
-Causing Ivan to turn back to normal.
-Then a mysterious force of magic fixes everything that was broken. Turning all of the giants back to normal people. The day is saved.
-Everyone cheers for the heroes. Sparrow and Uncanny valley thank Marinette and Adrien for their help.
-”You know, you both would make great super heroes.”
-Sparrow tells the people of Paris that the city will be safe now that they are here. Then they leave with Uncanny valley.
_______________________________________________________________________
-Meanwhile on a far off tower, it shows Fu taking off earrings.
-”Seems it worked out.”
-Tikki commented. “Wont he notice everything fixed?”
-” We will have to wait and see, Putting you and Plagg out there would be dangerous right now. With these heroes here. All I need to do is some clean up. At least for now.” Fu did have his eyes on two candidates that could wield the ladybug and cat miraculous, SHOULD the need arise. But for now. This situation worked out.”
______________________________________________________________________
-Hawkmoth growls at the failure. Even his akuma was gone. So his rock monster army was gone. He would need to go back to the drawing board.
-Though he did notice that something forced the cleansing of his akuma. The three eyed hero only destroyed the akuma swarm. She couldn't purify them.
-”Seems this wasn't all for nothing.” A dark smile appeared on his face. This was only the beginning.
______________________________________________________________________
-Jess and Aeon do run into their legal guardians for the time (civilian Mercury and snowflake.) Both of which were a bit mad that they weren't contacted about their ‘Early departure.’
-The two apologize, wanting to get some sightseeing in before being heroes.
-The heroes do say they are proud of the work they did, and that their parents back in the States would be proud.
-”So, while we are here. We are suppose to look for potential hero recruits to. See anyone of interest?”
-Jess smiles.
-”Actually...”

XX1 - AU Forgiven Devotion
Once, they were a pair, two mages of Hydaelyn seeking to understand the light and all that it touched. Their curiosity was boundless, an infinite being of power beyond all others - save for their devotion to one another. In the end, their curiosity brought them to the primordial light - Aether that had existed since the very beginning of the cosmos. But such power was not meant for curious mages, and nearly ripped them apart. It was only their love for one another that prevented them from being torn apart.
Sin Eater Alasondria the Curious Sight had been her medium for discerning the world - her first sense that she relied on explicitly within her lifetime, only to lose it in punishment for her arrogance in breaching the Aether’s core. She often features in fairytales as the Lonely Maiden, a young woman who had been the pioneer of a class lost to time. While the Class has since been revived as the Dancer Class, the lost arts of the magical path she took have not, and have yet to be rediscovered. She is but one half of Forgiven Devotion, and can often be found impersonating statues in old, ruined cities. So long as one does not touch her, she will allow travelers to pass peacefully. When pretending to be a statue, she is often holding her halo before her, so as to observe events around her. Prior to her pioneering the Dancer’s forgotten magical class, Alasondria wielded magical tomes and a staff.
Sin Eater Luther the Guardian Formerly an Arcanist, Luther often traveled to far-off destinations with Alasondria, back when she was a dancing mage. He later became a Scholar to help further their understanding of Aether together, seeking to create a union of more than one kind. When an attack left Alasondria with a damaged ear, he took up the mantle of Dragoon, wielding a spear in combat to protect her. He features in fairytales as the devoted bodyguard, the dashing hero, or the rescuer of maidens - of which he has done all three at one point. He could have escaped the fate of becoming a Sin Eater, but instead, threw himself after her, refusing to let her live an eternity alone. The other half of Forgiven Devotion, Luther often can be found perched in high places, keeping an eye out for those that might harm Alasondria. Like his other half, he will allow travelers their peace should they pass them by undisturbed, but any attack towards Alasondria will be met with vicious counters.
Statistics:
Alasondria the Curious: Level 65 || Level 80 (rematch) HP: 1.45 Million || 6 Million Resistance: Ice, Lightning, Sleep Immunity: Wind, Blind, Stun Weaknesses: Fire, Heavy, Bind Attack Type: Slashing Magic Type: Untyped Unique Status Attack: Petrification
Attacks: Aetherbloom: A draining attack, Alasondria will fly above and swoop down to plant a kiss upon the lips of the unwary, drawing the lifeforce of the enemy. Increases Aggro from Luther, single target. Heavy Crown: A combination defensive move with Luther, Heavy Crown folds their wings together to allow them to take any attack with no damage. Will last for twenty hits, or survive an otherwise fatal attack. Used sparingly between 100% to 45% health, used more frequently between 25% to 5% health. All-Seeing: An AOE attack, Alasondria brings her Halo eye in front of her, using a massive blast of magic to petrify the enemy. Petrification status has a 15% chance of being inflicted. Holy: Targeted AOE attack. Alasondria will fly to the heavens and cry tears of light that will plummet to the grounds below, often accompanied by Luther’s Ravages of Time. 10-15 hits, multiple targets within range. Umbrage: A fierce attack, Alasondria will utilize the power of the wind to create devastating slashes of air, occasionally allowing one of the four rings that rest upon her wrists and ankles to follow up for a stunning attack. Inflicts Stun, two targets max. Blooming Light: A blown kiss that can petrify the enemy. Single Target, no damage, but increases Aggro from Luther. If the previous move used was Aetherbloom, doubles Aggro from Luther, and has a 50% chance of Petrification.
Luther the Guardian: Level 65 || Level 80 (Rematch) HP: 2 Million || 9 Million Resistance: Fire, Earth, Slow, Stun Immunity: Ice, Lightning, Sleep, Poison Weaknesses: Wind, Blind, Silence Attack Type: Piercing Magic Type: Wind
Attacks: Scholarly Pursuit: A single target chase across any field, Luther will aim to strike an enemy’s weakness. If hit from behind, will always be a critical hit. Heavy Shield: A combination defensive move with Alasondria, Heavy Shield folds his wings over her all-seeing eye, allowing them to take any attack with no damage. Will last for twenty hits, or survive an otherwise fatal attack. Used sparingly between 100% to 45% health, used more frequently between 25% to 5% health. Rage: Often the most common attack after Aetherbloom or Blooming Light. Channels his jealousy into a frenzied series of sweeping slashes to cause AOE damage. Can hit up to twenty meters away in all directions. Stopga: Freezes enemies caught within the lens of his halo, focusing all of his attention upon them. Increase Aggro with Alasondria, has a 15% chance of inflicting Bind. Ravages of Time: Similar to the Dragoon class High Jump, Luther takes to the skies and becomes a falling star to impact the ground at breakneck speed. Often done in concert with Alasondria’s Holy. Devotion: An AOE attack, Luther will teleport between Alasondria and an attacking enemy to rain a hail of spears towards the enemy. 2-5 hits, multiple targets possible. If the previous move is Ravages of Time, will become 5-9 hits for anyone before him.
Unique Status Effect - Petrification: Unique to Alasondria, the Status Effect Petrification is similar to a stasis attack. The target remains frozen in place, but the more hits the target takes, the bigger the damage multiplier becomes. This is also true for healing or items used. If the target is healed multiple times during Petrification, the effect will stack until it becomes a 6x multiplier. The same is true for attack. If both are applied to the target, then the damage is subtracted by the healing, and any leftover damage or healing is applied to the target.
Weak Points:
Alasondria the Curious: Primary Weakpoint is her All-Seeing Halo - will receive a 1.5x multiplier damage if successfully hit. A secondary weakpoint is her headband - breaking the hairband will result in temporary paralysis. Alasondria will be unable to move until the headband is repaired. The bracelets on her wrists and ankles can also be broken, which decrease her attack effectiveness. Her wings can also be broken, which will result in a 4% chance of Heavy Crown to fail.
Luther the Guardian: Primary Weakpoint is the halo above his head - will receive a 1.5x multiplier damage for every successful hit. Secondary Weakpoint is his tattooed eye - striking it successfully will result in temporary paralysis. Luther will be unable to move until his eye regenerates. His spear can be broken, which decreases attack effectiveness, and his shield can be broken as well, resulting in a 10% chance for Heavy Shield to fail.

Good to see you, friends!
Okay, okay, I know it’s TECHNICALLY Tuesday right now. I know that I can only lean on time dilation and mysterious circumstances so often, but in my defense I was doing something really important that delayed my post.
"He was playing a visual novel.”
“But it was a very engrossing and inspiring visual novel with a lot of love put into it.”
“One which you haven’t paid for because you live in an extra-dimensional Library. So you really have no excuses here, Scaleboy.”
I will FIND a way, Aria. You know that.
[Aria sighs] “Yeah, you always do.”
[Fic Sighs] Yeah. I’m sorry about that, friends. Let’s get back on target talking about this week’s Dororo, shall we?
Synopsis: So the second son of THISEST OF ASSHOLES is digging around for dirt on the secrets that Poppa Dickbag is keeping from him and receives word that it’s a baby that pops is after. He tries to confront Daddy Dickest about it but is rebuffed. So he instead turns his attention to the woes of his people. A village is being attacked by a Giant Enemy Crab.
Our misguided boy Tahomaru decides to take on this colossal foe for the sake of his one-day subjects, but is stopped cold because unlike in real feudal Japan this Giant Enemy Crab doesn’t have an obvious weakpoint to hit for massive damage. Where’s the realism Mappa? 0/10 Too much water for the GEC to take advantage of. Rather than resorting to an electric type for super effective assaults Tahomaru decides that he’ll use human ingenuity to win the day. With the help of the villagers he spends weeks constructing a set of sluice gates to lure the monster into one of the smaller lakes and then drain away its home field advantage.
This would be great and all, but he didn’t realize that the game he’s in has destructable terrain so the GEC ultimately trashes the sluice and things are looking like they might go south for Tahoe and the Fun Police, but then our ACTUAL boy Hyakkimaru shows up just in time to Kill-Steal like a fucking BOSS! As he gives Tahomaru the thousand-yard stare through his “Deal-with-it” shades Tahomaru wonders who this mysterious sword-armed stranger is exactly.
Tumblr media
Synopsis: ((HEIKE CRAB! Breaking character for a bit. I have an odd history with this particular beastie. Back in the “Before Times” when I was a College Newbie and a TTRPG noob I tried to run a few games. One of those was a Castlevania campaign. One of the monsters I populated the game with? A Samurai spirit who appeared to all observers as a crab. It was based on a quick google search that turned up the folklore surrounding the weird face-shaped crabs. I thought: What better way to work with this than to have a Samurai Ghost whose helmet and armor are designed to emulate this crab and its legend who wins points in the surprise game by looking like a normal crab. Bonus points: It let me reference “Crab Battle” with a tiny crab kicking my adventuring party’s ass however briefly. Okay that’s enough OOC. Back to Fic.))
Weird, the text stream got interrupted. Looked like Fourth Wall interference. Whatever. The look into Tahomaru’s life was great. I like the fact that he’s really nothing like his father. Instead he emulates this idealized benevolent ruler that he sees the man as. It could have been easy to paint him as simply ambitious being his father’s son as much as Hyakkimaru is nominally their mother’s, but seeing that he genuinely believes in this land as something lifted up to greatness and wants to preserve that for the people and his father’s legacy is really great. Can’t wait to see where that goes.
Anyway. Looking forward to next episode for sure. Hopefully next week I’ll get it out before midnight on the day I’m supposed to.
Until next post keep talking fiction, friends. I’ll see you soon.
