Sexuality headcanon:

I think it's canon she's bi? In TB she definitely mentioned going out on dates with girls. But I think she mentioned boys too at some point. So yep, bi. TB has 0 straight main characters 🌈 (tbf most clamp mangas have straight characters as minority)

Gender headcanon:

If it were any other author I would have headcanoned her as trans but clamp has very clear way of showing nb/agender/trans characters (like Ashura, Nataku, Hana, half of Wish cast etc.) and Hokuto doesn't fit in that criterium. So cis female

OTP:

I don't think I have any? 🤔 ofc she has a semi-canon 'love interest' but I'm not 100% certain she saw Kakyou in romantic manner. Or that if she did, he was her 'special person'. I think issue is that TB ended in 1993 while Kakyou showed up around vol 8 of X which was years later. If clamp found way to include Kakyou somehow in TB, even if just a cameo, I bet their relationship would have been much more effective. As far as fanon (fanarts, fics and headcanons) goes, I'm all for their ship.

There are probably crack ships like Hokuto/Tomoyo or Hokuto/Kotori etc. which I wouldn't mind reading. But i generally prefer canon-based stuff

BROTP:

TB trio my beloved ❤ honestly she maintained the balance between Seishirou and Subaru. She had just right amount of empathy to understand Subaru and offer him comfort in way he needed the most; but also just right amount of selfishness to pull through and try to make her own wishes reality (including her final wish 😭). I adore how physical touch was handled between twins, Subaru would be really touch starved without Hokuto. Also how she tried to bring his spirit up and make him stand out (hence fashionable clothes) and encouraged Subaru to want things for himself for once. Just unfortunately that one backfired spectacularly

And ofc Hokuto's bond with Seishirou. Tbf whole analysis could be written there bc she kept things light most of the time and Seishirou's pretense reached it's peak when interacting with her. However Hokuto is far from gullible (nor is she blinded by kindness and love like her brother), she intuitively knew something wasn't right about Seishirou. That one scene where she put knife under his neck and said she'd kill him if he ever made Subaru cry 🙏😭 queen kept her promise

Also I've just realized Hokuto was baby girling Sei-chan before fandom even got the chance

Random headcanon:

Look. Wee need this. Hokuto dressing up as Subaru and making ruckus around town. Or twins switching clothing and playing game of who is who. I think it was mentioned they've done that as kids.

And now I've just realized she did dress up as Subaru one finally time... when she went to find Seishirou 😭

General opinion:

CLAMP WHY 😭😭😭

I'll never not want post TB AU where she's alive. Tbh, first time I read TB I thought her death was rushed and badly written. Mostly because it so easily could have been avoided. And then it hit me - that's exactly the core of tragedy; ending was actually amazingly written. That's probably part of why Subaru could never move on (beside his low self esteem and countless other reasons): he blames hinself because he believes she died for him and if he wasn't so weak her death could have been avoided easily

Still, despite the angst i wouldn't have changed a thing bc precisely her easily avoided death adds to the tragedy and makes manga hit so hard

Yuzu seemed very tired as of late, Masumi observed. It worried her. It was like she was in a perpetual state of a dreary headache, there was just something vague and untouchable beyond the dim of her eyes. She smiled through it, tried to put on a cheery expression but Masumi saw through it. She wasn’t sure who else was seeing through Yuzu’s facade but ever since she had been brought back from the other Dimensions and fused into one with those other girls, she had - understandably - not been of present mind.

“I’m getting better, really, I’m just adjusting.” Yuzu would always tell her if Masumi attempted to inquire about what exactly it was like to have such a full house in one’s own head. It just seemed like a lot of noise but there was some heart to it, as well, or maybe Masumi was just being naive. Hopeful. She just didn’t want to believe that Yuzu was lying, or that she was worsening.

Especially because there were peculiar ongoings around Yuzu. Masumi was a sceptic by nature but even she had to admit they were fairly supernatural. What else could she call them? She had witnessed miracles of science in the forms of being carded and the ability to hop through dimensions with a button but this was something else. As Masumi was a sceptic, she was naturally observant and she could promise this was not her mistaking things but she could swear that where Yuzu lingered, flowers bloomed.

Masumi was certain. Whenever she attempted to hound Yuzu into a catch up between their clashing schedules as they went to different schools and different after-schools as well, flowers just bloomed. Sometimes out of nowhere, sometimes not. If Masumi crossed paths with Yuzu near someone’s garden with planter boxes full of bulbs, by the time they were done their talking, as little as it usually was beyond a placid greeting, they would be in bloom. Other times, if they happened to meet up at an inter-Duel School royale, flowers would just appear from thin air.

It was like she was going crazy. Even Hokuto and Yaiba didn’t believe Masumi, even when she held the flowers as a burden of proof in her very own hand. Honeysuckle, violets, and various types of citrus blossoms. Though, by the time Yuzu was gone, they were brown and withered.

Call her a busybody, call her whatever you like but Masumi wanted to get to the bottom of this mystery perfumed in tangerines and pomelo. She cared deeply for Yuzu, even if she expressed it in odd and sometimes harsh ways.

Whatever flowers she could collect from these brief encounters, Masumi kept them in a crystalline vase by her bed. She would count herself to sleep by ruling out logical, scientific explanations of how flowers could mysteriously appear or bloom out of nowhere. It wasn’t escaping Masumi’s attention either that Yuzu had an affiliation with a mystical card called En Flowers either. It seemed that all investigation across all worlds - although, just one world now, she supposed, considering all the clean up and merging - everything came back to the game of Duel Monsters.

As Masumi tried to unravel the mystery, she pretended that she wasn’t spending inordinate amounts of time thinking about Yuzu, too. But it was just, she did care immensely for Yuzu. She had seen something to polish inside of her, something to bring out the sparkle that was within. She was tenacious and outgoing and it hurt to see her so wounded because of whatever it was that was happening in the confines of her own body.

It made Masumi pity her and Masumi did not want to pity her.

Although, she was soon to realise that there was none quite a horrifying unknown than that of her own body as it appeared that Yuzu’s mysterious flowers could bloom even there.

Like many nights of her investigation, the last thing Masumi saw in the dark was the withered flowers that she was keeping. In the dark, in the corner of her eye, she could pretend they were fresh and that they had never faded. She went to sleep but before morning, just on the very brink of dawn, she was awoken by a wretched impulse that ripped her from her dreamless sleep and had her keeled over in her very own bed.

She was wracked by a violent nausea. The taste of bile seared the back of her throat as she felt something unusual coarse through her. She clamped her hand over her mouth and held on tight to her sheets as her eyes went so wide, she was seeing silver sparks in panic. She tried to swallow it but she couldn't do it no matter how hard she tried to force it and so, she vomited up but it was not the contents of her stomach that she was evacuating. It was something else. Something impossible.

The smell was excruciating, of stomach acid and of citrus. Oranges, perhaps? No, not quite. Definitely not lemons. Her lips twitched as Masumi denied the fragrance that was mingled with her bile. She didn’t want to believe it but her room began to turn a light grey and it, all that she wanted to powerfully deny became real.

Reluctantly, Masumi pulled back her hand and she felt her fingers twitch and tingle, going numb as she laughed herself mad with disbelief. This had to be a dream. A nightmare. Anything but reality because there was no way that she was vomiting flowers, she desired to deny but the proof was in her hand and in her mouth. Oh, it tasted sweet and oh, it tasted sick.

Masumi’s fingers curled in on themselves and she held tightly onto the flowers, crushing them in the ball of her fist, her nails digging in past the soft, wet of the flowers’ petals until it left an imprint on her palm. She knew what she had to do. She had to go straight to the source, to Yuzu, and try to get some hell of an explanation from here because right now, Masumi was failing to do anything but lurch.

She felt another round come up and she let it happen. Masumi vomited up more flowers and she relished the thought of making Yuzu pay for them as this was undoubtedly her doing. Masumi’s room began to smell vile, of masticated, citric petals and her stomach acid intermingled and she held onto it, cupped her hand to her face as she felt the coarseness of flowers, stems and all, rake through her throat as she wretched and wretched again.

Her only good fortune in this mess being that it was a Sunday and in a few, mere hours, Masumi managed to recover enough to meagrely seek out her dear friend. To her parents, especially her beloved father, she tried to act like she was fine, that she had merely encountered her period earlier than usual and that it was nothing to worry about. She had everything under control but the lies were sour in her mouth.

Masumi felt dizzy in the head as she managed to hike and bus her away from home to the You Show Duel School. She half-heartedly smiled as Yuya and Sora greeted her, she asked for Yuzu and with her closer friends around, she didn’t feel as though she could say no. Masumi essentially had her trapped and when they found somewhere private, up on the roof, by the wire fence which had a vertical garden attached, Masumi had Yuzu trapped. For real.

She pinned Yuzu to the flat of the greenery and steel, Masumi had her hand on the wires, her fingers hooking in and over them. Masumi glared and Yuzu didn’t back down. She put her hand on her breast, trying to create a block but Masumi’s gaze was penetrating right through any attempt.

“What’s up with you lately?” Masumi asked. “What’s going on? What are these?”

Her questions came one after another and Yuzu couldn’t begin to answer them. Especially as, with her free hand, Masumi reached around to her back pocket and grabbed those flowers she had collected from the pit of her very own stomach. They were dry now, dry and brown, and Masumi was certain they had been for a while and yet shoving them in front of Yuzu caused a miracle. They regenerated. They refreshed, they flowered and bloomed, turned green and pink and white. They were beautiful and smelt even better.

“Wh-What?” Masumi stammered.

“I - I don’t really know, either.” Yuzu confessed feebly.

“But you are the cause, beyond a reasonable doubt?” Masumi asked, her question like an incision.

Yuzu nodded her head, “Ever since… Ever since I came back, strange and unusual things have been happening around me and I can’t explain it. It stresses me out like no other. Am I even me?” Her heart began to pound in her chest, her eyes watered, the ferns that cascaded over the back of the fence began to flower unnaturally. “Masumi, you have no idea what it's like… I was no one and then I was everything a-and then I was me but I’m also…” She clenched her eyes shut and Masumi was seeing quadruple. She saw Yuzu but she saw those three other girls, just for a split second, like an illusion all doused in shades of blue, purple, and green.

“Then tell me what it's like.” Masumi exclaimed. “Get it all out! Out of your head! I’m worried sick for you, I hope you know.”

“I know.” Yuzu murmured and her voice was so utterly thankful. She tilted her head to the side. “I’ve always known but… But I didn’t think I could burden anyone with whatever it is that my crisis is.”

“I want to look after your burden, I’ve kept all your flowers. Just. Just let me into your world.” Masumi said.

“It's not exactly Eden.” Yuzu half-heartedly joked, trying to deflect.

“I don’t care, I want to be apart of it, I want to care for you b-because I love you.” Masumi confessed.

“You do?” Yuzu gasped in a tiny voice.

“I - I do.” Masumi began to sputter.

Her eyes went wide and she began to hunker back. It was happening again. This was the worst of it, undoubtedly, completely and utterly painful, unlike her previous stints which were practically scot free. Yuzu watched in panic that tore her apart as she watched Masumi stumble back, hand over her mouth until she collapsed.

Masumi’s knees hit the cement but it hardly hurt compared to how bushels upon bushels of citrus flowers began to blossom inside of her, pushing her stomach to its limits and the leaves and vines inching up her throat. She felt every cut and abrasion made as they twisted and knotted inside of her, she coughed and sputtered shredded petals until finally she forced herself to vomit.

Yuzu dropped to her knees as well and she reached out for Masumi. She caressed Masumi’s face and wiped away her tears, her spittle. Masumi’s mouth foamed with white petals, spitting them out, trying to shoo them away but there was nothing she could do and… and it was getting hard to breathe but in between Yuzu’s hands, she was slowly freed of her affliction.

Yuzu leaned in and she kissed Masumi’s lips softly. Masumi’s eyes were still open as Yuzu kissed her. Yuzu sighed and she breathed air past Masumi’s lips that caused those flowers to fade. Masumi was stunned. She didn’t know what to think, what to feel but Yuzu’s kiss was assurance and healing, she couldn’t be ungrateful.

“I love you, too.” Yuzu whispered.

She kept kissing Masumi, making sure every last flower was absorbed back into her magic and Masumi kissed her back. She wanted to be a part of Yuzu’s garden-like world, a part of her Eden and her En Flowers, as strange and heartbreaking as it was.

alright, time for more useless enstars au-related stuff. i'm falling out of enstars at an alarming rate and i don't really want to think about enstars any more but unfortunately, i also have a lot of thoughts remaining that i want to put somewhere.

so. sunsets. yeah. i'm just leaving the gist of every au i squished in there in a single post for posterity.

8 - reincarnation au inspired by this fic! au where subaru wants two things, see: to be an idol, and to be with hokuto. he gets natsume to magic him into living through different universes until he finally gets both of the things he wants. don't @ me about the aus in this au i made almost all of them up on the spot.

16 - plane au au where subaru and hokuto don't meet at yumenosaki and end up sitting together on a plane. akepapa still has his scandal, seiya still has his career, so they both recognise each other's names instantly. i guess they hit it off despite subaru's planesickness.

18 - telepathy au inspired by this fic! au where telepathy exists and everyone can communicate with others using telepathy by creating links. shallow links can be formed instantly and last for short periods with a short range, while deep links require letting someone else into your headspace with a wider range and longer lasting effect. the headspace is reflective of the personality and 'vibe' of the person's mind. i also made this guide for trickstar's headspaces.

20 - flower shop au au where mao runs a flower shop. god fucking knows why he does that when he has hayfever. anyway, subaru is mao's bestie so he covers on shop duty when the hayfever acts up, and hokuto is part of the local theatre troupe led by wataru, who also happens to be a customer of mao's.

21 - prince/servant au au where hokuto is a prince and subaru is a kitchen hand. they met after hokuto stumbled upon subaru stargazing in the gardens. naturally they keep finding time to stargaze together.

25 - prince/blacksmith au [same universe as midnight sunshine] au where subaru is a prince and hokuto is an apprentice at the local smithy, which is owned by wataru. tomoya's also there. hokuto is utterly trash at actually smithing weapons but he's very good at making jewelry from metal... which is coincidentally what subaru likes window shopping for.

27 - guitarist/producer au check out the link! au where subaru is a guitarist from the country side and hokuto is a producer. hokuto was an aspiring singer who injured his throat and had to give up on his dream, so he picks up subaru when he had nowhere else to go and promises to make him into a star. (i actually made this au because i really liked hokuto's previous seiyuu who gave up his role because of a throat injury. go check out hosoyan)

30 - omegaverse au au where subaru is an alpha and hokuto is also an alpha. no wait, i'm joking, hokuto is actually an omega but he's disguised himself very convincingly that everyone else thinks he's an alpha. well, the downside to this is that subaru has a crisis over having a crush on another alpha until he finds out the truth by accident.

33 - fake dating au au where hokuto gets subaru to be his (fake) date for a wedding. unfortunately, hokuto forgets that he has a crush on subaru and the impact of fake dating only makes him a little dejected. good luck hokke!

38 - coffee shop au check out the link! (2) au where subaru works at a coffee shop and has a crush on his favourite regular, hokuto. a slice-of-life-esque slow burn college au where hokuto has no idea what the fuck feelings are and subaru tries very hard to make it known what the fuck his feelings are.

44 - celestial constellation au check out the link! (3) au where the enstars govern over constellations. subaru is separated into seven stars by eichi and hokuto must gather them to return subaru back to his human form.

47 - prince/servant au, but different au where prince hokke tried to run away from his dad and responsibility because his life sucks and subaru, who works in the stables after this world's equivalent of the akepapa incident whacks him in the head for trying to steal a horse. borrowed this au from an acquaintance!

49 - college au au where they're older and not idols. this was the only way i could justify the seven minutes in heaven trope.

50, 79 - prince/knight au [same universe as pure sweetness/by moonlight] au where hokuto is a prince and subaru is his knight. they met after hokuto messed up a spell and sent papers flying all over the grounds where the knight trainees were training. hokuto found subaru accidentally setting fire to the queen's roses and ended up personally tutoring him for his knight exam... hokuto also ends up kissing him. guess that one worked out for them.

51 - soulmate au au where subaru is colourblind, but only because he's one of the last remnants of a soulmate system that is extremely rare in modern times. colour starts seeping into the world starting with the colour of your soulmate's eyes.

55 - dancer au au where hokuto is a well-off young master but also in his rebellious phase. he sneaks out with his bodyguard mao and comes across an... Establishment. either way? hokke thinks subaru is cute and subaru thinks rich boy hokke is a great source of income.

62 - mmorpg au au where they're. in an mmorpg. i don't think there's much to explain, right?

64 - another reincarnation au au where hokuto's the one reincarnating! he's dead. but he wants to find a life where neither he and subaru are dead or dying, i guess.

65 - femstars au au where they're girls. and not idols. that's it. that's the au.

67, 85 - age gap au au where subaru is 18 and hokuto is 20, and they're neighbours in the same apartment block. hokuto works for a theatre company and is basically subaru's tutor through his final year of high school. subaru spends a lot of time at hokuto's place because his mom is working.

69 - college au, take three au where subaru and hokuto are roommates. slightly different to coffee shop au, where subaru's roommate was makoto! hokke is a smart theatre major who knows all the answers to subaru's astrophysics homework and subaru undoubtedly likes him a lot

70, 90 - countryside letter exchange au (thumbs up) check out the link! (4) au where. um. a lot happens.

71 - naimononedari au (tiredly grinning) check out the link! (5) au where subaru has always wanted to go on a journey and hokuto lets her go without realising that she wants to leave her house and that she wants to be with subaru. when hokuto finally gets fed up with being forced into a marriage, she runs away and goes on a journey tracing subaru's steps to find her again.

73 - pacific rim au au where hokuto and subaru are drift partners! they pilot the polaris while makoto and mao support them. it seems that there's a lot of kaiju in this era...

75, 93 - office au au where trickstar are office workers. hokuto gets picked up by subaru as a kouhai through wingmanning for mao and makoto at mixers even though subaru works in a different department. them getting older kind of gave a little extra softness to their relationship somehow, but they're happy.

77 - cramped apartment au au where subaru and hokuto live together in a tiny little one-room apartment. also they're not idols. damn yeah that's it

78 - blind date au au where subaru finds hokuto sitting alone after a failed blind date so he becomes hokuto's blind date. after all hokuto's kinda cute, right? and, well, he says he doesn't mind dating guys, so subaru's taking his chances with the cute guy.

82 - rubyverse au where magic :) also borrowed someone's au! go read it for context because i don't even fully understand everything about this au

89 - winged au au where they have wings! subaru's are pitch black, crow's wings. hokuto's are nighthawk wings.

91 - jailbreak au au where jailbreak by neru! subaru's the orange guy with the aviation goggles and hokuto's the black guy who loses his childhood ambitions. subaru makes the plane from hokuto's bygone dreams anyway.

94 - countryside au au where they're childhood friends who live in the countryside. since they're neighbours, they used to play by the river separating their properties as kids and as they get a little older, sit in the shade of sunflowers that subaru planted years ago. their special little spot.

99 - boutique au au where they're friends with benefits. subaru's a boutique owner and hokuto is a customer, and, well, they fuck. but subaru starts staying at hokke's place on mornings after and hokuto kinda does like the company, so...

100 - endless vide au au where endless vide. the idol dreamfes battles in the spaceships? tick. people getting injured and dying in the battles? tick. clones? tick.

Uhm, in a post you said that if someone asked you could expand on how the x trio works better when they aren't strict parallels of tokyo babylon and i would love to hear more of your opinion on it? bc i think people conflate kamui and fuuma way too much with seisub when they're pretty different, and i'm one of those poor few people who prefers kamui's storyline on a personal level >_< (tb's is tighter thematically and very darkly alluring, plus tragedy porn, but i just like more kamui and fuuma) Also everyone fogets kotori, which fair bc she dies so soon and seems designed to it, but she was fuuma's sister not kamui's and her pov was very interesting. Also she's just... she was killed soon in the plot bc she knew too much esentially, with her nascent dreamseer powers. Gods the monou family have very tragic endings, and for love! >_< their mothers too.... There's a feel of something much more familial and personal (somewhat gothic?) on the ties between the x's trio, and it never resolves itself ;_; you know, my bet on x's ending is or both kamui and fuuma live or they die, inclined somewhat towards they live. either way not repeating whatever mess seisub got themselves into and resolving the apocalysis and the mythical themes of their plots. what do you think? thank you very much for your posts!!!

...ah. Um. Awkward. So my opinion is less 'the X trio work better when not paralleling the TB trio' and more 'the X trio is fundamentally broken on a writing level and those problems are far more obvious when being compared to a group that does work'. So. We're kind of coming at this from opposite angles ^.^''''

But if you still want an answer, here it is with all its discussions of characterisation and arcs and all that fun stuff. It's super critical of X though, especially Kotori and Fuuma, and if you aren't interested in hearing me complain about characters for a ridiculous amount of words, then honestly nothing fairer in the world.

So, to start, the sad fact of the matter is we simply don't have time for the X trio to get the development they need. I know that sounds ridiculous considering we get one more volume with them than with the TB group, but like you said, TB is tight. It's focused. We see the three of them in a wide variety of situations and get a full breadth of their personalities. We get time to bond with them and see them bond with each other. So when it all falls apart, it hurts. In X, we don't get that. The first 8 volumes of X have to do a lot of leg work: they have to set up and drive the very complicated narrative with all it's plot foreshadowing and cryptic messages etc etc etc, as well as establish the main characters. And X has a lot of characters. There's the fourteen dragons, Hinoto and Kanoe, Aoki's nephew whose name I can never remember (Saiki?), and still the narrative tries to find time to give all these people depth while getting us attached to Kamui, Fuuma, and Kotori and there just isn't enough time! The best way to have done this is probably to have focused on the main trio for the first section then started developing the dragons after, but instead we spend a lot of time with people who aren't the main three and honestly, most of them are more interesting (sorry).

Because...

If there's any key, central divide between TB and X is that Hokuto dies. Kotori is fridged. Hokuto is a fully fleshed out character-- we see her surface personality (fun and bubbly, perhaps a bit too much) and then beneath the surface (actually a warm and genuine person, who is far more mature than she seems). We know her life goals (housewife), we see her have relationships outside of the men in her life that are equally important to her, and when she dies it's because of her already established motivations and characterisation, as well as narrative foreshadowing. Kotori, though? One of the first things we learn about her is that she's sick and needs to be taken care of. We also see she's still hung up on a boy from her childhood. She faints when necessary to the plot, and then gets horrifically traumatised and doesn't recover. Then she dies specifically for the punishment of the men in her life. The only thing we know about her outside of trauma is that she likes indigo painting, and I'm not even sure if that's in the manga or if it's anime only. Kotori exists to suffer and then die in a way tied to reproduction. She is the only character in CLAMP I can think of who would be written the exact same way by a man. I know that's harsh, and I know she has a lot of fans (a lot of my friends back in the day loved her) and I respect that, but I genuinely don't understand it. I've written about how the TB trio works so well because every prong of the triangle is equally important, but also every character is given the same weight. Kotori is not.

Fuuma isn't either, though. He also is given very little characterisation, made even worse by the fact that he turns into a completely different character halfway through. This is where I think CLAMP trying to force a parallel screws up the most: Kotori being compared to Hokuto doesn’t work because her character doesn’t have the same level of impact, but Fuuma is trying to be shoved into a Seishirou-shaped box that just won’t fit him. Seishirou’s story arc works because he’s a character we know and love who suddenly turns out to have been completely different this whole time. The audience is betrayed right alongside Subaru, but then we start to realise that Seishirou isn’t as made up as he seems. Both sides of his character are equally complex and interesting, made even better by his ability to move between them. Seishirou’s two sides are not only equal parts of his character, but being two-sided is part of his character. Both are his choice. I’m not saying Fuuma’s arc is inherently flawed though, because you know what character’s story actually parallels Fuuma’s? Clone Syaoran (*choir sings*). Syaoran also gets forced into a completely different person because of other people’s choices, but in TRC it works because we know Syaoran. We know him intimately. He is the pov character. He is the hero. He is our eyes and ears and we knows his backstory and his dreams and his arc and then when that all gets stripped away from him it’s an absolute gut punch. But also his character arc to that point has been sacrificing everything for someone else hurts both you and your loved ones. Don’t focus on giving someone back their past if it means missing their future. He doesn’t change though, so after losing everything, he loses himself. Fuuma doesn’t have that. We hardly know him outside of archetype, We don’t even know how different a person he became after his Kamuification, because we don’t have a reference point. And then afterwards he spends all his time being cryptic, so we don’t have much chance to get to know him then, either. Fuuma is the one character who I will actively, indisputably say is better in TRC than his home series, because not only do the parallels between him and Seishirou actually make sense because they act similar, but he’s also fun. He could easily go either DoH or DoE. His dynamic with Kamui makes total sense. In X I feel like I’m being bombarded with imagery about how important he is without any emotional weight to back that up.

(The parallels to C!Syaoran are also why I think the original X plan was for Kamui to sacrifice himself so Fuuma would revert to his former self a la the TRC clones, btw. What I think the ending of X will be vs should be is another meta I desperately need to write).

And now Kamui. Unlike the other two, I like Kamui. I care about Kamui. He’s never going to break my top 10 CLAMP characters but he’s definitely in the top 20, maybe even 15. But Kamui’s character arc is kind of a mess? First, he switches from absolute jerkbag to angel far too easily (I’ve seen some people say he becomes Kotori in her absence, which makes total sense. But again see my meta on the TB trio about how much we feel Hokuto’s absence through characterisation). But the main problem is that, as X currently stands and barring any future plot twists that may or may not happen, Kamui’s fatal flaw is his indecisiveness-- first, he can’t decide which side to be on, and that’s bad. Then he makes a decision, which should be good, and gets punished for it. But the narrative goes right back to telling him his problem is he can’t make a decision. And that’s just a mess! Have Kotori and Fuuma die for some other reason, or make Kamui’s central conflict different, because the way it is makes the narrative punish him for doing what it wants him to do. Subaru’s arc is so good because his fatal flaw remains the same-- he always gives too much of himself, and even though he does that out of love, it gets the people he loves most killed. He loves the world so much Hokuto puts him in a dangerous situation to make him be selfish, and she dies, he continues to love Seishirou so much he wants Seishirou to kill him, Seishirou dies. Subaru loses his loved ones because of his flaw. Set up, delivery, repercussions. Because Kamui is punished for resolving his flaw then goes right back to having the same flaw, it feels weak.

Now for the panel to panel direct parallels, coz they’re the biggest issue. I’ve got a post in my queue about this, but basically: every TB panel that X parallels is something that was a huge emotional and narrative point in TB. Hokuto’s death. Subaru outside the hospital doors. Each one of these one of the most important moments of the series. In X? Kotori’s death is the end of the first act. Subaru’s blinding is just another tragedy in a long list of tragedies. None of these things are important because they all a) happen too early and b) are surrounded by equally devastating events. Instead of TB, where it was all the tragedy of the world reaching Subaru’s home turf, it’s just Kamui going through his day to day trauma. Kotori’s death doesn’t stand out because we barely know her, so it’s just the third shinken birth in a couple of volumes but we’re told to care more this time. Fuuma’s betrayal doesn’t stand out because we don’t know him well enough before, and now he’s just Seishirou-lite.

For the X trio to have properly worked, they would have needed more time to be fleshed out, more dynamic presences in the story, and for Kamui, a fatal flaw that he doesn’t get punished for fixing. Make Fuuma be turned into the evil Kamui specifically because of Kamui’s incisiveness. Make Kotori someone we care about. Make Fuuma someone we care about. Just... something. As it is, I’ve always felt like CLAMP tried to make us care more about X by connecting it to TB *coughHokuto’ssuddenloveinterestcough* and it never worked for me. There was a period of my life where I actually resented X for it (and other things). So I’m biased. But I do like Kamui and Fuuma’s relationship in X so I think it does work, I just don’t think it worked here.

Did I spend 3 hours cataloging the new MV outfits instead of studying? Yes. Please don’t question it. Everything is under the cut because its long, there’s really bad quality screenshots, and i went ham on the data analysis :)

General points: - There are three types of outfits in the set. Tucked, Untucked, and Half tucked shirts. Pants are the same as far as I can tell

Mini Analysis (that eventually turned into a not so mini analysis)

I think that each character wearing their shirts slightly differently is actually super interesting and shows a little bit of personality for them. Loose shirts are more boyish and athletic, youthful and fun while tucked in shirts give off a more refined and put together appearance. Half tucked just looks lazy in my opinion but also has the best of both worlds, a casual kind of formality.

StarPro having a more or less equal amount of Idols wearing their shirts in all three ways is pretty interesting and really emphasizes the amount of freedom these idols are given based on their agency. It also speaks to how free StarPro units are in relation to other agencies since they are the sole agency without any units who match each other’s shirt wearing tendencies. Everyone’s just kind of everywhere with each unit doing their own thing. Its interesting to note that the only unit in StarPro that doesn’t have all three styles of shirt wearing is Alkaloid. In Mayoi’s own words, Alkaloid is “a newbie who has just made his debut”. Because of they’re new I suspect that they haven’t branched out very much, sticking to the tried and true traditions of idol work that dictates that uniformity with minor deviations is the best for unit outfits. You can totally see it in how they’ve separated themselves into two neat groups: Hiiro with Aira and Tatsumi with Mayoi (yes shippers you can go feral over this fact).

Contrasting StarPro, CosPro has the highest amount of units with matching shirt styles. Eden makes sense since Ibara probably wants the face of the company to look uniform so he made them all wear their shirts the same. Though the decision to leave them untucked leaves me questioning a few things. Do they want to seem more approachable? I guessed before actually seeing the outfits that Eden would either have half tucked or fully tucked shirts mostly because they’re a unit who prioritizes appearances. Having that put together air definitely fits Eden (or at least Adam). 2wink wasn’t a surprise tho. They’re generally a more uniform unit being twins and all. Though again, a bit miffed about the choice for half tucked shirts. While I will freely admit that I don’t read very many Eden or 2wink stories nor have I interacted with them very much, I do think there is merit in being able to understand design choices at a glance. If a 2winkP or an EdenP would like to hazard a guess as to why these two units have shirt wearing styles that doesn’t really fit with my preconceived notions of them please do tell me. But other than that, CosPro is generally really uniform with each unit being more or less balanced. Valkyrie as always has a really strong sense of aesthetics and pairing the half tucked shirt with the tucked shirt was a very good call. Crazy:B, like Alkaloid, is neatly separated into two groups: Rinne with Niki and Kohaku with HiMERU (more shipping fodder for you shippers :p). But contrary to Alkaloid who’s following more conventional idol ideas, i feel like Crazy:B was instructed by Ibara to dress like that. Both to promote the image of unity within CosPro but also to piss Rinne off ww.

I really don’t have much to say on RyLin since I generally don’t like any of the units affiliated with it. I really sorry but I’m pretty indifferent about Ra*bits and Akatsuki. I do have Opinions TM about Undead but that’s for another day. But for now, I will say that Ra*bits all having untucked shirts is very cute and very Ra*bits. The picture perfect image of youth and energy!

Thanks to Knights basically dominating the board with their five person unit all with tucked in pants, the data was skewed way to much into the tucked shirts area wwww. Even if Natsume and Tsumugi didn’t have tucked shirts it would still be the majority wwwww. In all seriousness, tucked in pants is 100% a Knights look and i am living for it. They look so noble even in converse and casual wear. I think Mama having an untucked shirt is also super cute and makes him a lot more huggable. (please refer to the Ra*bits screenshot, its very cute the height difference) Even Sora’s half tucked look is very boyish a cute, very Sora. Honestly each of the agencies’ personalities shone through even through these simple clothes and honestly did a better job of giving me each unit’s personalities at a glance than those 5th Ani outfits did.

Also I have no idea why some units share shoe colors its just a fun thing to point out. Yes I’m pretentious and say burgundy instead of dark red. Shut up. I like burgundy :p

Extra Notes

- None of these bitches are straight, they’re wearing Converse with cuffed pants! Look me in the face and tell me that wearing converse with cuffed pants is a straight thing. Thats right, you can’t.

- The stage was Knights’ Silent Oath bc it’s a stage with 5 people, has nice lighting, and has multiple parts where I can get all 5 people with a large window of time. Also I can stand listening to Silent Oath 12 times while taking screenshots. The other option was Suisei Halation but I found Silent Oath first :p

- This came from me noticing that Rei had purple converse shoes and laughing my ass off about it before going to check out the other units and spiraling from there

- As I was cataloguing this, I made a mental list of who in Enstars deserves to have fangs on their model and who actually does. I’m not posting that today but if you’re interested....

How many children will they adopt? - Three! They have two girls, Shinju and Ayaka (both one year apart, adopted when they were six and five) and one boy, Kyou (four years younger than the girls, adopted as an infant)

Who gets stuck with the most diapers? - due to their busy life schedules, they tend to be pretty good at divying things up and making sure they handle an equal amount of the parenting - also, Kyou is the only one they adopt as a very little baby, so he’s the only one who needs diapers

Who is the stricter parent? - you would think Masumi, but it’s Yuzu. She’s used to running the school so she runs a tight ship and a tighter schedule. Masumi has a lot of high expectations of her kids, but she’s also the one who sneaks them candy when they’re not supposed to have it.

Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? - both of them lol they know better

Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? - generally Yuzu

Who is the more loved parent? - the girls are a lot closer to Masumi, but Kyou is closer to Yuzu

Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? - oh both of them lol. they’re a force to be reckoned with, the school haaaaates dealing with them lol

Who cried the most at graduation? - Masumi, but Yuzu was close behind

Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? - They both will, but they’ll both be giving a double scolding afterward

Who does the most cooking? - Yuzu mostly, but Masumi pitches in

Who is the most picky in their food choice? - Masumi is slightly pickier, but generally won’t complain

Who does the grocery shopping? - They’re good about switching off depending on who’s going to be near the grocery store during their schedule

How often do they bake desserts? - about once a week, maybe, or at least once a month

Tagged by @thewillowbends. These lists are always hard, but that’s kind of the fun of them! And that’s why we cheat and sometimes have lots of ties because no you can’t make me choose. 1. Thor from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe - I am a sucker for a character who has their shit together but can still be human and face ridiculously traumatic experiences and come through them whole because they had a rock solid foundation to begin with. From being thrown out of Asgard, made mortal, and taking that chance to suck it up and make himself better that he did that himself to the loss of pretty much his entire family and most of his people and his sense of purpose, the thing I love about Thor is that he keeps getting back up. That kind of fortitude is even more appealing that the ridiculously hot lightning powers. 2. Tsukino Usagi from Sailor Moon - I always loved her in the ‘90s anime, but reading the manga skyrocketted her into this special untouchable place in my heart. The beginning of her journey is a girl who is so fragile that she would kill herself if she didn’t have the emotional support around her, who had to take step after step forward to find her inner strength, who wasn’t weak or terrible for her fragility, but instead her story was worth telling for it, that the point she started out as was just as valuable as the place she ended up, where she could be the one to stand up to save her friends and get them back herself, that journey was worth telling. I LOVE HER TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH. 3. Thranduil and Maedhros from Tolkien’s Legendarium - It was really hard to choose, because I love a lot of the characters (and I feel badly leaving Thingol and Maglor off the list and I will fight a bitch for Galadriel and Elrond and listen Glorfindel is pure joy and also the internet is too mean to Elwing and I kind of want alllll the Melkor and Manwe fic because sobs they’re brothers shut up you can’t make me not have feelings about that, but also trashbag Melkor/Sauron and--) but those are the two I usually wind up wanting to know their pov in a fic I’m reading or have them around when shit’s going down because I want to see what they’ll do or I just miss them the most when they’re not there. 4. Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars - If you asked me to pick between them, I don’t know that I could. Yeah, sure, I love Obi-Wan ridiculously, but if you give me five minutes, I’m pretty much always going to drift back to talking about Anakin and his issues instead. I’m not sure I can even boil them down into a nutshell about why I like them so much, they’re the kind of characters that I love so intensely and with such big, sweeping thoughts, that I’d have to write a whole essay. But my best attempt: Anakin’s being both dumbass and genius at the same time, being charming and magnetic while also being a bag of garbage at the same time, who had such good in him but was also an absolute monster, who I desperately want to be happy, but I also struggle to forgive him sometimes and that’s saying a lot for a fictional character, he’s brilliant enough to truly carry an entire Saga about him. And Obi-Wan is the bedrock of all goodness in that galaxy, he could be obnoxious at times and he didn’t always see Anakin clearly, but he always cared and he remained good and hopeful, he continued to serve the galaxy, no matter what it threw at him, and even forgave Anakin in the end, because he always rose above. That’s it, that’s my shit right there. 5. Inoue Orihime from Bleach - ORIHIME WAS MY GIRL FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, her unwavering kindness and care, her desire to be soft in a world (and, frankly, fandom) that wanted her to be hard and to fight everything, when she didn’t want to fight, she wanted to heal, she wanted to have fun and be weird, she wanted everyone to be happy, all of that made me love her. Her loopiness is an absolute delight, but what I loved so much about her is that Orihime had the powers/abilities to be quite possibly the most OG of the entire cast, she could reject reality itself, and she never once wanted to use it to beat anyone up or to destroy anything, she wanted to make friends with her fairies and she wanted to help people. That girl refused to let the world make her anything less than kind and caring and sweet. She was THE BEST. 6. Hara Akiha and Umeda Hokuto from Hanazakari no Kimitachi e/Hana-Kimi - Sometimes we all fall in love with those minor characters and they just fucking consume us. A lot of it came from that they were both hot, they were both hilarious, and so they were just really fun, but what really got me was that I genuinely loved everything Nakajo did with Umeda’s character. There weren’t a lot of gay characters in shoujo manga that weren’t complete comedic relief, where their sexuality was the joke. Yes, Umeda was often a humorous character (all of the cast was) but he firmly was completely uninterested in high school kids, he liked adult men, and his advice to Mizuki may have been crabby as hell, but it was genuine and good. His sexuality wasn’t the punchline of his character. Then there was Akiha, who was also comedic, but his bisexuality (another rare thing to find in manga!) had nothing to do with the humor of his character, all of it was in the way he chased after Umeda. He was a genuine suitor (and, reading the post-manga character interviews, apparently they got together, OMG MY HEART) and the kiss they shared was treated just as seriously as any straight kiss would have been. That meant a lot to me, even though I’d have loved the characters just because they were so interesting and Umeda’s struggle to get over the guy who never cared for him and to let himself be vulnerable with someone that he could actually care about, was so great. 7. Yuki Eiri from Gravitation - I can’t begrudge anyone for giving this show a lot of shit (and I definitely am going with anime!Yuki here, rather than manga!Yuki) or dismissing it as being god-awful, because it probably was pretty cringeworthy. But Yuki got under my skin because he was one of the first characters I resonated with where his depression was real and it was ugly. He could be cruel to people around him, he pushed them away, not just half-heartedly, but genuinely, and he couldn’t stand being vulnerable, because it touched on all the terrible places that had been damaged by what Kitazawa had done to him. And he couldn’t just be magically fixed by Tohma’s devotion or Shuuichi’s unwavering amounts of love poured into him. He couldn’t just be fixed with a hug or one good crying session. He was damaged and it was going to be a hell of a long hike back up to anything even a little bit normal. Especially back at that time, I felt like depression and trauma were never given any real weight, then along comes this ridiculous BL series that just refused to make Yuki anything less that genuinely damaged and it hit all these places in wee me that was struggling through my own depression that couldn’t just be cured with some hugs and people telling me they loved me.

8. Hashiba Touma from Yoroiden Samurai Troopers - I’m not sure I could even say why this character got under my skin the way he did, other than that there was definitely a group of us who were SUPER into the show and it was fun to make a playground for ourselves, and Touma just really got to me. The brilliant character who didn’t always know how to relate to others, but who cared very deeply about them, who gravitated to those who were better at social interaction than he was, who were better able to connect to people than he was, that he found this group where he really belonged, that just really touched wee me’s heart. 9. Tendou Souji from Kamen Rider Kabuto - THIS OBNOXIOUS HOT MESS I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. It was hard not to put Kagami on the list as well, because so much of what I love about Tendou is illustrated through his relationship with Kagami (whom I also love on his own), but I think I keep coming back to that I love his issues the most. He’s the best at everything and so it puts distance between him and everyone else, all the more so because he’s so obnoxious about it and doesn’t slow down for anyone else to catch up, but the thing is that there’s a very caring heart underneath all that. He loves his sisters, he loves Kagami, he even kind of tolerates the rest of their weird gang, and trying to find that difficult line of his superiority over the others versus that he wants them to catch up to him in his own way, all while being the most condescending dick ever, is absolute joy. 10. Relena Darlian from Gundam Wing - I had a difficult path to liking Relena, because so much of fandom boiled her down to either being a creepy stalker who got in the way of Heero/Duo or they only ever wrote her in romantic pairing stuff with Heero, neither of which really encouraged me to like her. But, as time went on and I rewatched the series a couple of times, I realized there’s so much more to her. She’s a character who has to walk an impossible line between both of the legacies that weigh on her, the birth family that she never knew but maybe she could help bring peace to the world by taking up that name, by trying to bring back the Sanq Kingdom that promoted absolute pacifism and peace. Yet, ultimately, for all that her relationship with Zechs is really important and she was the heir to that kingdom, she chose to be Relena Darlian. She choose to try to bring peace to the world by standing up on her own as a politician, not a figurehead queen of the world. The struggle to figure that out, who she wants to be and how she wants to achieve it, to go from a sheltered young girl at the start of the series to someone who has seen how terrible war is, is far more interesting than either of those first options for me! ★ Criss Cross - Konton no Maou by Takahata Kyouichirou, published by MediaWorks. This was the very first book that made me interested in reading novels.

★ Natsu no Niwa - The Friends by Yumoto Kazumi, published by Shinchousha. When I felt down, I read this and my heart was cleansed.

★ Rirekisho by Nakamura Kou, published by Kawade Shobou Shinsha. Because it gave me courage.

★ Tsubasa wa Itsu Made Mo by Kawakami Ken'ichi, published by Shuueisha. I simply thought that it was a really good book, and reading it made me want to read more books like it in the future.

★ Tsumetai Kousha no Toki wa Tomaru by Tsujimura Mizuki, published by Kodansha. This was the book that reminded me that I wanted to keep reading novels forever.

TV Anime Ensemble Stars! 2nd PV Reveals Its OP Song Performed by 37 Male Idols

At the advance screening event held at the Marunouchi Piccadilly theater in Tokyo on Monday, a 90-second new PV for the forthcoming TV anime adaptation of Happy Elements and Cacalia Studio's male idol-featured mobile game Ensemble Stars! was screened for the first time, then the clip was posted on BANDAI NAMCO Arts' official YouTube channel.

The clip introduces the anime's OP song "Stars' Ensemble!" performed by the special unit "Yumenosaki Dream Stars," which was formed by 37 male idol characters from the franchise's 11 units. The CD single of the song, also including a mini drama by Trickstar to introduce the songs, is set to be released in Japan on August 14, 2019.

The male idol raising game started its service for iOS and Android in April 2015, and has expanded to various types of projects, such as novels, manga, web radio programs, and stage play adaptations.

The TV anime Ensemble Stars! is set to premiere on TOKYO MX and other stations in Japan at 22:30 on July 7, 2019 (JST). In stead of the previously announced Junpaku Yagurashita, Masakazu Hishida, who has worked on another mega-hit male idol franchise KING OF PRISM, is officially announced as the anime's director. Its DVD/Blu-ray is already set to be released on September 26, 2019.

Well, I choose yume for this and the above two images represent their relationship pretty well. They are my favourite illustrations and one can actually see the love they both have for each other. It’s like no one else matters. You can actually see the tenderness in their eyes, how much they care for each other.

4. Describe your favorite ship in seven words or less.

InuKag : they were born for each other.

Sei and Shimako : sensitive couple. Adorable and sweet.

Sakura and Syaoran : love that transcends time and space.

Touya and Yukito : meant to be together in every world.

Seishirou and Subaru : they are meant to fall for each other.

Kamui and fuuma : just admit you love each other.

Akihiko and Misaki : meant to be together.

Nowaki and Hiroki : sometimes second love is true love.

Yona and Hak : always there for each other.

Kaname and Yuuki : eternal lovers.

6.What’s your go-to episode or scene when you need ship feels?

Well, this one is difficult because there are tons of scenes which I love but I’ll do my best.

Inuyasha and Kagome :

When Naraku reveals who he is for the first time in ep 21. Any episode with Koga, that really shows inuyasha’s jealousy. The movies…god. First and second movie. All scenes I guess.

Sei and Shimako :

Season two episode 6. Though there are scenes in many episodes of season 1 too.

Sakura and Syaoran :

When Yuuko gives them new bodies and real syaoran is born. In the beginning when sakura is planning to tell she loves him but in the end couldn’t. When syaoran fights kamui. When Syaoran is killed by his son and his greatest regret is that he couldn’t hear those words. I guess I should stop. At this rate I am going to end up with an essay.

Touya and Yukito/Yue :

When touya gives his power to yue. I ship yue and touya and yukito and touya. The last scene in original cardcaptor sakura manga where they are together in the kitchen. When touya corners yukito in school, he knows something is up.

Seishirou and Subaru :

Of course the scene in which seishirou dies. Goddammit. I can’ t think about it. Subaru loses his senses [ in Tokyo Babylon] when seishirou’s eye is gouged out. This is getting too painful for me. I’ll stop.

This pairing reduces me to tears. They belong together. They should’ve been together with hokuto and kakyou.

Kamui and Fuuma :

Little fuuma helping little kamui in one of the extras. Well, just read X. The whole thing is unresolved sexual tension between the two. The creators said it themselves they are soulmates, I mean even in TRC one can see there is something going on between them. Subaru and seishirou is blatantly obvious.

Misaki and Akihiko :

When haruhiko kidnaps misaki, when akihiko comes to pick up misaki from his brother’s house, the train scene. There are many scenes especially the ones with Ijuiin Kyou.

Nowaki and Hiroki :

Again, there are many scenes. The library scene. Goddammit. It reduces me to tears every time. When hiroki spies on nowaki, then sends him flowers. Aww. Just remembering them brings a stupid smile to my face.

Yona and Hak :

Episode 24 of the anime, in manga when that festival happened in one of the villages and yona danced in the village garb. There are many scenes throughout the manga.

Kaname and Yuuki :

Well, volume 11 and 12 scenes. Then the scenes after yuuki sees kaname’s past, end of volume 13 and beginning of volume 14, all the scenes in which yuuki says she needs to go to her kaname. When yuuki takes kaname’s blood after being awakened. There are many scenes.

7.What song or songs remind you of your favorite fandom, character or ship?

Hmm, as such no song in particular.

I did read a fanfiction though which had, “I am watching you” for seishirou and Subaru and I couldn’t help but find it hilarious.

And I think, A Thousand Years by Christina Perri suits yume. It’s true after all.

8. If the creators of your favorite fandom asked you to write the ship canon-confirmation episode, what will you write/how will it happen?

Hmm. Well, I hope yuuki gets reincarnated somehow and she and kaname live a long happy life together. Maybe kaname is going somewhere and he bumps into a girl, who has long brown hair and when they look at each other he realizes it’s the girl from his memories. And that’s it. After that kaname never sees the butterfly familiar because yuuki is with him now.

X is never gonna end but I always had a feeling that both fuuma and kamui would die. Because fuuma said that only kamui can grant his wish. They both die.

Then they are shown together in another alternate universe.

I always thought fuuma and kamui suffered equally. You cannot weigh their suffering. Fuuma lost everything because kamui made one choice. Their story is too tragic.

I’ll come back to this question later.

9.Do you prefer to indulge in (consume or create) fanart or fanfic of your favorite ship?

Sometimes I sketch and I create edits for my favourite series. And I enjoy seeing fanarts and manga colourings. I write fanfictions too. I love reading fanfictions.

10.Smut or fluff? (VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION xD)

Both. Both. I love both.

11.What ship are you embarrassed to admit you like?

Not one. They are all great ships. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

12.What task are you most likely to procrastinate so you can indulge in your ship or fandom?

I sacrifice my sleep sometimes. That’s about it.

13.How many hours of the day do you spend reading fanfic or looking at fanart or other media?

When there is nothing to do, quite a lot of hours. But when exams are there, I see how the preparation is. But I usually spend quite a lot of time on it.

14.How many memorabilia’s do you own of your favorite fandom or ship (clothes, plushies, etc.)?

Well, I’ve got lots of volumes of each series and artbooks too. And I’ve also got drama CD’s of some series and magazines.

15.If you could own one authentic item from your favorite fandom world, what would it be?

Hmm. Not anything in particular.

16.What fandom have you found to be too toxic to deal with?

Ah. The best question. Well, I haven’t been in inuyasha fandom but I know it’s pretty weird because for some bullshit reason kagome is shipped with sesshoumaru and inuyasha is portrayed as a person who violates her. Yikes.

Now, I have got nothing against shipping characters who aren’t together. I do that a lot but when the same people come onto inuyasha/kagome and sesshoumaru/kikyo fanarts and spout shit, well I get angry then. Because I adore sesshoumaru and kikyo. It doesn’t happen but I still like it and it has the most gorgeous fanarts ever.

If sesskag and rinsess, which is weird no matter how it’s cut, shippers come and say this would’ve been better if it was sesshkag fanart / fiction, well I get angry then. Sesshoumaru is my favourite character ever and I really don’t like seeing people think he only belongs with sesskag shippers. What the hell?

He is no one’s property. The only character he remotely showed something for was Kagura. And I am not gonna open Sesshoumaru and Rin thing. That is....well. Let’s just leave it.

Clamp fandom. I dunno…I am not particularly in it but I read some comments on some sites and it’s pretty annoying when some people say you must acknowledge kotori and kamui thing.

Sorry, there was no thing.

Kotori was obsessed with kamui. Did she deserve to die. Hell no. But kotori and kamui just doesn’t exist. I mean the creators themselves said : don’t call kamui and fuuma brothers. No. They are soulmates. Fuuma is all what kamui thinks about. Even in colour illustrations which shows the group, Kotori is always seen glomping kamui like some weird obsessed fangirl. It’s disconcerting. Kamui is always shocked or surprised. Well, whatever kamui and fuuma belong together.

And now the most toxic fandom. Vampire knight. I stopped posting in the tags quite a while back because I am just tired. I’ve had enough.

Zeki shippers : unable to accept yuuki loved kaname way more than she loved zero. It’s blatantly obvious if you read the manga. But the shippers are not only rude but they also get personal and insult the blogger. They mock the other shippers and keep on ranting and raving about abuse and whatever nonsense that was prevalent in the forums between 2010-2014. Now the same thing happens here on tumblr.

Zeki shippers are unable to accept that not everyone worships zero’s character. Honestly, I never hated zero. I was always like, I want kaname and yuuki together, zero can be with someone else. But his fans and shippers are just nasty. I’ve never encountered a single decent member of this ship. They are rude and insulting and love to send anon messages.

18.Do you have or would you consider getting a tattoo depicting your favorite ship or fandom?

Nope. Not fond of tattoos.

19.What is the strangest thing you’ve done to honor your favorite fandom, ship or character?

Nothing.

Otani Injury Confirmation, Surgery; AJPW Champion Carnival 2022 Nights 3 + 4 - 4/11 & 4/13/2022; NJPW Golden Fight Series, Windy City Riot Full Cards; Suzuki v. Samoa Joe on AEW Dynamite Tonight, Dickinson Signs to NJPW

The injury to Shinjiro Otani that occured at ZERO1′s Ryogoku Kokugikan show this past Sunday was confirmed to be a cervical spinal cord injury, specifically in his C3 and C4 vertebrae according to sources. He has remained conscious and able to communicate, and has seen family members through this ordeal, however, remains unable to move his extremities.

Surgery is/was scheduled for today 4/13/2022 to repair any damage they can, and stop any further deterioration. This is similar to what Tomoaki Honma came back from in 2017, or indeed Manabu Nakanishi in 2011. At the same time, the likes of Yoshihiro Takayama or the late Eiji Ezaki (Hayabusa) were never able to recover and return to mobility, let alone wrestling. It’s going to be risky that Otani will be able to stand and walk ever again.

Whatever happens, we wish for Otani’s surgery to go well, and for him to recover and continue to lead a full life, whatever that will entail. We’ll keep you posted.

Interesting that we have three elimination matches taking place on non-streamed spot shows.

This Saturday is also the NJoA show Windy City Riot, from Villa Park, IL. It turns out I will be attending that after all, I got tickets as a birthday gift (it’s today, if you were wondering! 49, yes!), and I will write this up. It will be my first live wrestling event since AEW Revolution 2020 on 2/29/2020. Good grief.

The show will be shown as PPV on FITE TV and, I think, on NJPWWorld with Japanese commentary. It will end up VOD on NJPWWorld eventually either way. I won’t feel bad about spoiling these results because a) I’ll have been there b) this is a live PPV, not a Strong taping.

Minoru Suzuki will be facing Samoa Joe to defend the ROH TV title tonight on AEW Dynamite; there is a possibility Suzuki v. Ishii will be for that title as well. If so, I hope Ishii knows what the belt is for at this point.

Also, as of yesterday, Chris Dickinson has signed with NJPW.
