one of the things i like about monsta x mvs (whether they're from high quality fish or vikings league or whichever studio they go with) is that the scenes are actually cohesive and feel like they flow well
i feel like mvs for some groups (im probably thinking about blackpink specifically 😬) just throw together random scenes they conceptualize on a moodboard and even though the sets and scenes look amazing it just looks like they stitched random cool looking aesthetics together and tied them all with a bunch of modified designer clothes

I love this beautiful detail from “How You Like That” MV! The game of colored lights is so amazing! It seems like a bright star on Jisoo’s arm!

#i actually really liked shut down !! so yay for the title tracks being good on a row#but its funny#that yknow with lsg it was a angsty love banger and markedly different from hylt#now shut down is a this bragadocious girl crush anthem very much in the same vein as pv and . most other bp songs#and in a way it like. makes pink venom feel a little more pointless than hylt? like bc shutdown fits that 'blackpink song' slot -#in a way that lsg doesnt#and the fact is so much better than any girl crush bp single since ddd possibly since whistle makes that even more glaring for me#despite the fact i did enjoy pink venoms chorus lmao#but in any case! really did enjoy it#theres a y2k vibe to this but for once its actually really subtle and it works very well for bp#it is WILD too how s a t i s f y i n g it was to listen to such a cohesive connected bp song#SO MUCH FLOW. SO MUCH RYTHYM. IT FELT LIKE ONE WHOLE SONG#love the instrumental it works so much for this soft spoken smirking bragging tone#even the mv felt like they were all in the same Space in the same Planet they felt more like a#group here than theyve done since pwf imo#really felt like 'yes! THIS is the kind of thing i was hoping/expecting bp would do all along'#the callbacks in the mv were cute but i think itd make more of an impact if their videos were more distinct from each other#either way . its a yes!!! from me#also the choreography looks rly fun i love it#(listening to the album now)#yeah i REALLY like shut down it sounds so good#love the melody love their voices

Do you think you have experienced your Kpop peak or is it still to come?
I think I already have experienced it but let's talk about it.
In my opinion there are 3 main kpop peak in the life of a kpop Stan.
The first one is when you discover k-pop. You have now the access of a whole new world of music of different years and discover a lot of talented people that will steal your heart. It's what happened to me at the end of 2020, watching the MV of HYLT of Blackpink.
The second one is when you discover your ult group (or groups like in my case). You understand that one particular group will be in your heart and mind forever and they become your comfort zone. It happened with Red Velvet for me, and luckily with Fromis9 and Le Sserafim after. Having 3 ult groups is like a blessing.
And the last one is living an year in which every comeback of the groups you follow and stan are hella good. That was my 2022 as a multistan. It was just perfect in my opinion, I lost the count of how many 10/10 album and minialbum came out and some of that songs will never go away from my playlist.
But hey, I hope the best is yet to come 😌
Lots of love, bestie ❤️

Hi! I was just wondering if you had heard blackpink's pink venom yet? And if so, opinion?
Personally, I feel like the song is a bop, but the line distribution is atrocious especially after ready for love (which was more fair). Loved the beat drop, and the concept is kinda new, but the sound is similair to hylt and boombayah. I think it's good for a pre release single but maybe not as a title track. Thoughts?
mmmmm i really dont like it haha
blackpink has never really been my girl group in general, i loved their early early releases like playing with fire and stay but they really sort of lost me after that.
theyve been resting on their laurels for years now i think, the only interesting thing theyve made for a few years imo has been lovesick girls, everything else is sort of just...the same formula repeated ad nauseum. i love the aesthetics of the mv but i found the song to be very lackluster on the whole and sort of....lacking some cohesion, but not in a fun aespa way. just in like....a sort of lazy on the production side way.
i dont have many favourable things to say about it HAHA

Can you give your opinions on blackpink's discography? Don't include remixes and Japanese versions of songs.

Tis the year 2016, where future global sensation BLACKPINK released its single album “Square One” with Whistle and Boombayah
These songs are a banger, they always were iconic, and will continue to be iconic. In my respected opinion, I liked Whistle a bit more than Boombayah, maybe that's because whistle was a bit more of the calmer counterpart of Boombayah.
Tumblr media
Then in november of the same year, “Square Two” was released, with the tracks “STAY” and “Playing with fire” which, kinda had a mixed feeling from a few BLINK’s
Some BLINK’s said that STAY was a bad song for a group like BLACKPINK, but I beg to disagree. STAY was just an experimental song for the girls, which was a sucess, in my opinion. To keep it simpler, if BLINK’s can like Tally and The Happiest Girl then STAY isn’t an exception.
We all know how well Playing With Fire did, so it’s pretty self explanatory. But my humble opinion is STAY & Playing With Fire were my typa songs fr. (That was before the Album came out)
Tumblr media
Now we have moved onto the year of 2017, where our girls released the single “As if it’s your last”
As if it’s your last felt like a sequel to Boombayah, in terms of Song style and MV making. But nontheless a great song. I liked the highschool typa outfits the girls wore, and Rose’ s red hair was bomb, and you can’t deny that.
Tumblr media
2018, where things slowly started to change for the girls as “SQUARE UP” was released (hey, if BLACKPINK were to teach maths, I’m pretty sure all the students would get A1 honors)
Now, SQUARE UP consisted of 4 songs
DDU-DU DDU-DU - The modern musical masterpiece that they released. I liked the slightly more rock beats in this song, and the MV making felt so luxury compared to their tomboy style MV’s.
Forever Young - This song started the famous BP Tagline “BLACKPINK IS THE REVOLUTION” so this was 1 of the game changing songs for the girls and for the BLINK’s.
Really - This is more of a hip-hop kinda song, embedded with that BLACKPINK style that we all really love.
See U later - My personal fav. No changing that. Jisoo’s vocals in this are insane.
Tumblr media
2019, AKA “THE YEAR OF THE REVOLUTION” for BLACKPINK, as they headlined Coachella.
Now this year has given us an ep (but I kinda wanted more…) but a good EP.
Kill this Love contains
Kill This Love - First post breakup get together typa song from the girls, so a different typa sound.
Don’t Know What to Do - I feel like its a song most teenagers would like alot in terms of the beats and lyrics, as it shows that teenage phase of life where we all have that 1 guy we like and obsess over.
Kick It - A more calmer post breakup in denial song like Kill this love. I wish it had an MV tho.
Hope Not - It’s kinda giving Rose’s HTL, but a group version, as the concept of both the songs is really similar, only the song style is different.
Tumblr media
2020, where the covid pandemic began to rise, and our girls rose with their 1st studio album “THE ALBUM” which went viral for the title track, HYLT
The Studio Album consists of
How You Like That - Another Post Breakup song, but this time, its about how the girl gets up and out from it.
Ice Cream - That 1 flirty song featuring Selena Gomez. I liked the style of it as it was really different from whistle and boombayah, and didn’t feel as experimental as STAY was.
Pretty Savage - Now this is an interesting song as it kinda reflects on a more personal story of the girls. It’s like a diss track to their antis about the assumptions their antis have about them.
Bet U Wanna -This is more like another flirty song, I’m happy were seeing flirty songs from the girls as it shows they know both positives and negatives of a relashionship.
Lovesick Girls - This song are about girls who had one-sided loves and ended up being killed by it. Jennie passes in a car crash, Rose in a tub of BLACK ink, and Lisa from a building. Jisoo was the only one who didn’t have a lover, but she was unable to save the other girls, thus attempting to drown herself, but failed.
Crazy Over You - This song talks about a girl who obsessed with the guy she likes, but the guy is kinda chill w her, which makes the girl obsess over her more.
Love to Hate Me - Again, a one-sided love in which the guy hates the girl & the girl finally sees it.
You Never Know - This is also a personal song for the girls, as it reflects the true environment of what goes on behind the screens of the k-pop world.
Tumblr media
2022 shortly after covid decreased by alot, things were getting better for everyone, and BLACKPINK came out with second studio album BORN PINK, before going on their second world tour.
The second studio album consists of
Pink Venom : The MV for this I loved, as it was a continuation to lovesick girls, where Jisoo uses dark magic to bring back her deceased friends. Jennie comes back in a much bigger, stronger car, Lisa on the ground floor of the building she fell from, Rose’ in black ink. But the song however didn’t feel like a usual BLACKPINK song, and didn’t really hit the mark for some people. It wasn’t bad, but compared to their other songs, it wasn’t as great.
Shut Down - This was a song that showed how far the girls have come on their journey w YG entertainment, as it has references to their old mv scenes, and the BLACKPINK in your area, was finally brought back.
Typa Girl - This was a song that showcased the girls standards when it comes to having a relationship, and I liked this song alot.
Yeah Yeah Yeah - This song talks about how a silly meetup lead to a happy relationship from both sides, which is a new song style from the girls.
Hard To Love - This song talks about the insecurities a girl has when it comes to one-sided relationships, which I have only seen in english songs.
The Happiest Girl - This song revolves around another post breakup, showcasing the fact that 1 breakup isn’t the end of the world, and that they can always try again.
Tally - This is again another diss track towards their antis, showing that from this point on, they’ll do whatever, whenever and with whoever, being IDGAF to their antis.
Ready For Love - A post-breakup glowup song, in which the girl has become ready to find a new love and to write a new story.
Tumblr media
Overall, I’d rate BLACKPINK’s discography a 7/10. The reason is because while they release good songs, having only 2 full albums in a span of 7 years is pretty low for a group as big as BLACKPINK, which I feel the error falls on YG Ent. for not managing the girls properly. The girls not renewing their solo contract is complete proof of that. They got much more solo activities after being free from YG Ent, so I hope the amount of group releases increase at a steady rate, and lots of love for the girls future endeavors!

I saw your bp post and totally same. I haven’t watch the MV, but only listen the song and I only remember the ratata lmao. For me, this is their worst tittle track. I hate that they take so long break to only comeback with a boring ass song. It look like those procrastinator kids who had a two years term to make a song but they still do it like a month before haha.
omg i gotta delete that post 🙈 anyway anon, yeah...
i think there are elements of the song i like! like the use of traditional instruments and the sort of eerie chanting of the group name. the chorus actually really sticks with me, and i am coming around to the idea of what i will call a "soft chorus." initially i really didn't like it, but now i think with a better song, it could work really well.
but yeah it is like the procrastinating students. teddy park has basically shown he's good at producing one type of song and it's just not working anymore lmao (and hasn't for a while)
to me this song and hylt are basically the same, esp if you look at the mvs, which is super disappointing. no core concept, some weird repacked ddu du ddu part in the last third of the song. it's disappointing, the girls deserve a lot better. they are very talented

Now that the MV has been out for two days, I'm finally going to make a post about BLACKPINK's PINK VENOM
First things first, I absolutely love it 😍 The instrumental is crazy, as is expected when it's composed by Teddy, 24 and R.Tee 🔥
The chorus threw me of when i first heard it because they have never done an anti-drop before and so it took me a few listens to get used to it. Now i'm completely addicted though, the chorus is stuck in my head 24/7 🎶 It gives of a 90's vibe and it totally works
The chanting of BLACKPINK in the beginning (and end) + Jisoo playing the traditional instrument is perfect! It really shows the power of the group and how they are wordfamous artists now. It's like with HYLT where they also connected their Korean roots with their international status
My favorite part of the song is the prechorus and the bridge by Jisoo and Rosé, they made their voices so deep! It's like instead of Jisoo matching Rosé at her higher range like they have done for past songs, now Rosé is matching Jisoo's lower range and it sound so good!!! 💯
We got Main Rapper Jennie back! It's truly been too long and I missed that side of her so much 👑 She got two rap parts and half of the chorus and it's what she deserves tbh. The only thing I would change about the song is for JenLisa to rap in Korean instead of full English. This is just a personal preference and their rap lines are really good so I don't really mind, but I adore it when they rap in Korean and I wish they did it more often
And last but not least we got the outro which is not the classic YG ending I was expecting! Just like the chorus, it took me by suprise by not being as bombastic as anticipated, but honestly still really really good and catchy. It was kind of a mix between HYLT and KTL outro and it's suits the song really well!
The MV itself was top notch, every set was so beautiful and expensive as expected from a BLACKPINK MV 💸 Its difficult to pick a favorite set/scene but if I had to choose it would be Jisoo's vampire set 🧛 and the second chorus group set 🔥
My favorite thing about this comeback (besides the many records they are breaking) is how everyone seems to love the song 🥰 For HYLT and Ice Cream the respons was mostly negative in the beginning so being online during those first days kind of sucked lol. I also didn't immidiately vibe with HYLT (but i do love it now + it's like their most streamed song), but i still think Ice Cream is mediocre. That's what you get when Americans produce a kpop song ig the instrumental was boring as fuck :/
But then everyone adored their comeback with The Album and Lovesick Girls as a title track + Pretty Savage as the promoted bside. That was probably the most fun time because everyone 100% loved every single new track on The Album!
And now, after 2 years of waiting, eventhough expectations were so high, they managed to meet them with Pink Venom 🥰 I'm so happy 95% of fans loved this comeback song, because when you have a fanbase of 80 million subscribers on youtube that's fucking difficult
+ We are so close to getting BLACKPINK their first PAK (come on Melon move!!!!! we are so close to getting first place please!!!!). I hope the general public will also like this song and of course that the girls will have a safe promotion period 🙏Let's get it BLACKPINK!
🎶This that Pink Venom, Get em, Get em, Get em 🤘

MISS JUANITASUPREME what did u think abt pink venom 🤔 tbh compared to hylt.. i can listen to this one way more 😭 (minus the rap prolly). prolly one of the best thing abt the mv is seeing the clips of miss roseanne playing the guitar 🤔
I enjoyed the song and I have to say it's better with headphones on. Also I liked HYLT (and still do) I remember that only me and @notzero were enjoying it on the tl when it flopped lmao
