I wish it wasn’t so damn hard to find fic that positively portrays and gives good arcs to Dany, Arya, and Sansa.

A Selection of Abby’s Favorite Fanfics
Artemis Fowl: The Aztec Incident by AgiVega
Link: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2055830/1/Artemis-Fowl-The-Aztec-Incident
Fandom: Artemis Fowl - Eoin Colfer
Summary: 26-year-old Artemis Fowl gets the greatest surprise of his life when Commander Holly Short pays him a visit, pleading for his help. They need to team up to save their son, whose existence Artemis has been unaware of….
+
Artemis Fowl: The Sword of God by AgiVega
Link: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2593669/1/Artemis-Fowl-The-Sword-of-God
Fandom: Artemis Fowl - Eoin Colfer
Summary: Sequel to the Aztec Incident. Despite having Holly at his side, Artemis is depressed, he cannot overcome the loss of his genius. Only time can heal him… in both senses of the word.
My thoughts on this duology: One of my favorites as a teenager, which I printed a hard-copy of. It has great comedic timing and, all in all, is a fun adventure romp.
A City of Fortune and Failure by justadram
Link: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9287426/1/A-City-of-Fortune-and-Failure
Fandom: A Song of Ice and Fire - George R. R. Martin
Summary: Amidst maneuvers and intrigue, heartbreak and betrayal, bankruptcy and political scandal, the players jockey for power, money, and prestige in a game of business, politics, and love in New York City. Modern AU. Multi-ship. Central ships: Ned/Cat, Cersei/Jaime, Dany/Jorah, Jon/Sansa.
My thoughts: A masterful modern AU of the ASOIAF universe, with a happier ending than one would think, given the source material.
Disengagement by turtle_paced
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/1142807/chapters/2312623
Fandom: A Song of Ice and Fire - George R. R. Martin
Summary: The killing of Mad King Aerys Targaryen by person or persons unknown worked out well for virtually everyone, including Jaime Lannister. Disgraced for failing his king (if only they knew) and tasked with protecting no-longer-a-Princess Rhaenys Targaryen until she can be wed to Robert’s eldest legitimate son (whenever Robert gets around to producing one), Jaime must go north with the Starks (a prickly, judgmental lot) to look after her. Cold, bored, and guarding a five-year-old, Jaime might yet learn to be a truly honourable knight – but even far from King’s Landing and Cersei, his dangerous secrets might catch up with him. Worse, his aren’t the only dangerous secrets in the North….
My thoughts: One of my go-to AU stories when I need something that is kinder to Rhaenys and when I want a solid political story to sink my teeth into. turtle_paced’s take on the ASOIAF world is spot-on, so if you want something that feels like Martin’s work, this is it.
The Princess and the Septa by Julia_Martell
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/4141185/chapters/9340335
Fandom: A Song of Ice and Fire - George R. R. Martin
Summary: Septa Eglantine’s duty was to accompany Myrcella to Dorne. Princess Arianne’s duty was to graciously receive her. But neither woman was quite prepared for the other.
My thoughts: This poignant story will break your heart and fill you with father-daughter feels. It also acts as a lead-in to the Dornish theatre in the books.
A Wedding in Sunspear by Julia_Martell
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/4903933/chapters/11247469
Fandom: A Song of Ice and Fire - George R. R. Martin
Summary: The Seven Kingdoms have been at peace for ten years as the great and powerful gather in Sunspear for the marriage of Princess Loreza Nymeros Martell. But old tensions are just below the surface. Love and duty, hate and pride, anger and ambition. There’s nothing like a wedding to make emotions run high.
My thoughts: If you’re looking for a lovingly detailed exploration of Dornish culture and how it grates against Westerosi patriarchal norms, this is a great story to dig into. Alysanne’s chapters in particular leave me gutted every time.
The Not So Dead Ladies Club by La Reine Noire
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/series/801072
Fandom: A Song of Ice and Fire - George R. R. Martin
Summary: Two women survive Robert's Rebellion and everything changes. An Elia Martell/Lyanna Stark story.
My thoughts: This story satisfies the part of me that desperately wanted Elia Martell and Lyanna Stark to have more agency in ASOIAF, and for them and their children to have a hopeful future. Also, who needs Rhaegar?
dream of the lotus in bloom by Pulpo Fiction
Link: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8442158/1/dream-of-the-lotus-in-bloom
Fandom: Avatar The Last Airbender / The Legend of Korra
Summary: Fourteen years ago, a masked man intercepts a letter to the White Lotus, breaks into the home of a young Water Tribe couple, and leaves with their only daughter. Now, she is seventeen. An Equalist!Korra AU.
My thoughts: This story take the potential of season one of LOK and ramps it up, giving more weight to the Equalist movement and making Amon’s and Korra’s relationship much more complicated and painful.
Of Finding Innocence by FanficwriterGHC
Link: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7176396/1/Of-Finding-Innocence
Fandom: Castle
Summary: When Kate Beckett went to get her book signed by Richard Castle, she never imagined that she'd end up meeting his daughter, much less offering to babysit for the afternoon. AU.
My thoughts: Pure, fluffy goodness. This is what I re-read when I need something tooth-achingly sweet. The romance between Beckett and Castle also builds slowly, after months of friendship, which makes my demi heart happy.
Forward by Peptuck
Link: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4099993/1/Forward
Fandom: Firefly
Summary: Following the Miranda broadwave, there’s only one direction for Malcolm Reynolds and his crew to go. Post-BDM, Series.
My thoughts: An AU continuation of Firefly and Serenity, in which Book and Wash survive and continue going on adventures with the crew. Book’s backstory here is much more interesting than the version in the comics; the sci fi plots--namely surrounding psychic experimentation--are more fleshed out and chilling; and the sexism in the show surrounding Kaylee, Inara, and River has mercifully been ripped out.
Harry Potter and the Nightmares of Futures Past by S'TarKan
Link: http://www.viridiandreams.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5545
Fandom: Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling
Summary: The War is over and Voldemort is finally dead. Too bad there's no one left to celebrate. Harry risks everything, even returning Voldemort to life, for a chance to go back and do it right this time.
My thoughts: This is an emotional time-travel fic that gives secondary characters like Ginny, Luna, and Neville more chances to shine. In general, it’s a fun action/adventure ride, albeit one that is more violent than the original series.
Time, Interrupted by Madm05
Link: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2948865/1/Time-Interrupted
Fandom: Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling
Summary: After she is murdered, Hermione’s soul is sent back in time in order to prevent Harry from becoming the next Dark Lord, but quickly learns her task is not as easy as she thought it would be. A second chance story, with a twist. Eventual HHr.
My thoughts: This is one of my favorite Harmony fics, because it is super sweet (with the exception of a few dark moments) and Remus and Sirius become prominent figures in Hermione and Harry’s childhoods, thanks to some time-meddling.
Vox Corporis by MissAnnThropic
Link: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13323228/1/REPOST-Vox-Corporis-Original-Author-MissAnnThropic-NOT-MY-STORY
Fandom: Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling
Summary: Following the events of the Goblet of Fire, Harry spends the summer with the Grangers, his relationship with Hermione deepens, and he and Hermione become animagi.
My thoughts: My favorite Harmony fic. It’s a slow-burn romance, building on the friendship between Harry and Hermione over the summer following GOF and through their next year of school. It also deals with the trauma that Harry has gone through, both from the Dursleys’ abuse and from Cedrick’s death, and Hermione’s insecurities from being bullied before Hogwarts.
Psychic AU by Laughsalot3412
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/series/431476
Fandom: Leverage
Summary: He had a sniper rifle scoping the girl’s bright eyes and the guy’s smile. An Eliot/Parker/Hardison AU.
My thoughts: The OT3 is wonderfully written, the exploration of Eliot’s trauma from Moreau is respectfully handled, and the importance of consent during psychic mind-melding is underscored.
Team 8 by S'TarKan
Link: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2731239/1/Team-8
Fandom: Naruto
Summary: What if Naruto had been selected for a different team? What if he’d had a different mentor? Who would guess the consequences would be so large?
My thoughts: This is everything that I wanted Naruto to be--an action/adventure story with a strong character focus, heartwarming friendships that support mutual growth, and some ruthless villains and conspiracy plots to keep things interesting. I’m also deeply in love with S’TarKan’s version of Kurenai, who is the inspiration for at least two of my OCs. She alone makes this fic worth reading, but the rest of the story is also stronger and more streamlined than the original story.
the fatal plunge by maleficently
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/series/29748
Fandom: Once Upon a Time (TV)
Summary: Emma has hidden her face behind a curtain of unruly hair for now, but manages to tip it back on command--and Regina looks down at Emma’s chest and the heart she knows is beating there; wonders absently if any of her problems would be solved if she just plucked it out and kept it in her jewelry box upstairs--and looks at her with the kind of anguish that really and truly doesn’t befit a storybook savior. “The curse. It didn't break right, so how do I fix it?” Part 1 of a 3-part post-curse AU that mostly ignores Season 2 developments.
My thoughts: This series was what made me start shipping Emma Swan and Regina Mills in earnest. The story doesn’t shy away from Emma’s flaws or Regina’s ruthlessness, and in general feels like a more emotionally true take on what should have unfolded after season one.
somewhere, someone must know the ending by maleficently
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/521505/chapters/921864
Fandom: Once Upon a Time (TV)
Summary: “I’m here because...I think my kid is having some kind of delusional breakdown because he can’t cope with the fact that...Mayor Mills and I split up.” Dr. Hopper pushes his glasses up his nose in a measured movement. “What makes you think that?” “Well, among other things, he thinks his mother is about to cut Mary Margaret Blanchard’s heart out of her chest, before pulverizing it and sending her into a coma that only her true love can rescue her from.” AU. Here, “fairy tale land” is merely a product of Henry's imagination during a difficult time.
My thoughts: I am a sucker for AU fics, especially ones that re-envision canon in interesting ways. This one chronicles the aftermath of Emma Swan and Regina Mills sabotaging their relationship, but then working together to make it more open and healthy.
The Patchouli Series by Renn Ireigh
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/series/22751
Fandom: Pokemon
Summary: Is the indulgence of interactions with human society worth the cost? Giovanni and Sabrina debate. Manga/game canon compliant more or less. Winner of the “Best Romance” category in the 2005 Serebii Forums Winter Awards.
My thoughts: This quiet series focuses on Sabrina as she struggles to grow out of the restrictions that her abusive mother--and then Sabrina herself--placed on her to control her psychic powers. It features her siblings as well, who are also trying to overcome the abuse they went through, and Giovanni, whose relationship with Sabrina could evolve with her, if she gives it a chance.
Sailor Moon 4200 by Angus MacSpon
Link: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2590354/1/Sailor-Moon-4200
Fandom: Sailor Moon
Summary: Centuries after the Fall…a new band of senshi must come together. Some of them are new faces. Others are old friends, reborn yet again. But all of them are in trouble—because the enemy that destroyed Crystal Tokyo is out there, waiting for them…
My thoughts: This is an old classic, but an emotional and engaging story about the reincarnated senshi team. Glimpses are given into the fall of Crystal Tokyo, and there are a few old faces still around from that age to guide us through. I remember this best for how tense the new world is and for Artemis’ and Luna’s granddaughter.
Heretic Pride by Fialleril
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/13455561/chapters/30844053
Fandom: Star Wars
Summary: Like most Republic citizens, the Naberries have never spent much time thinking about the Jedi. But that changes with the birth of their daughter Ilaré. Or, the AU where the third Naberrie daughter is a Jedi, Padmé offers Naboo as a sanctuary for runaway slaves, Shmi is a conductor on the Tatooine freedom trail, and Anakin jump starts a reformation. Or maybe a heresy. It all depends on your point of view.
My thoughts: Or how the prequel trilogy would have gone, if it hadn’t been a tragedy. Anakin refusing to cut off his ties to home and being more well-adjusted for it, Shmi being a conductor of the Tatooine freedom trail, and the scenes set in Little Tatooine on Naboo are all wonderful and welcome changes to the story. Also, Anakin and Padme’s romance feels genuinely sweet and earned, and Anakin has a very cute mentor-student relationship with her little sister.

3. If you could revive one GoT character, who would it be and why?
Without a doubt, Theon Greyjoy. I would die for my son, and even though his death made sense and did work (unlike a lot of season 8) it still pains me. And I hate that he died so far away from the sea, and that his body was burned. He was a Greyjoy and a Stark, and I would see him brought back and brought back to the sea.
11. What’s an unpopular GoT opinion you have?
I adore Catelyn Tully Stark. It frustrates me to no end how she is often reviled by the fandom for her treatment of Jon. No, I do not approve of her attitude toward Jon, but I also don’t approve of Jaime screwing his sister or pushing a child out of a tower, and yet I still enjoy his character. Catelyn is a multi-dimensional woman who prioritizes being a mother and being a wife. Bastards were something to be ashamed of in Westeros society, that point has been driven home repeatedly. Her attitude is not unique - Dorne is the only place that really accepts bastards. Even if Catelyn’s marriage had been purely political, and there was never any love between her and her husband, having a bastard be raised alongside her children was humiliating for her. Cat’s prejudice towards bastards was reflective of the systemic disregard and disrespect given to bastards. So there is humiliation there that Catelyn feels every day, but there is also hurt. Because her marriage was not purely political, she loved Ned. She loved him deeply. And every day she had to face the child that was his, but not her own. And everyone in the seven kingdoms knew what an honorable man Ned Stark was, and so would it be a far stretch of the imagination to think that the only thing that could make Ned Stark forsake his vows to his wife, was love for another woman? Every single day, Catelyn was faced with the representation of her greatest humiliation, her greatest hurt, and a credible threat to her trueborn children. Bastards could be raised to higher stations, bastards could in rare cases inherit. And if Ned had already defied convention and brought his bastard son to be raised with his trueborn children, who was to say that he wouldn’t raise him above Robb? When Ned supposedly broke his vows, no one could say anything for certain about the Lord of Winterfell and what he would do. Cat was a Stark and a Tully. She was part of the pack, and she valued family above everything. Jon just wasn’t a part of her family.
I’m not excusing Catelyn’s actions. She was cold, and hard, and caused tension within the family. She directly contributed to Jon’s self-loathing and internalized hatred of bastards. I also acknowledge that Cat had other flaws apart from this. However, I regularly see her scorned and rejected by fandom, simply for her treatment of Jon, while other characters who have also committed many crimes, are revered and redeemed. Catelyn Stark looked at her greatest hurt and her greatest humiliation every single day. I can’t even watch a show or read a fic that has major infidelity between a couple, without getting an awful feeling in the pit of my stomach. Catelyn Stark was a human person, with flaws, and this was one of them, yet it’s the one that people tend to fixate on the most, and it drives me bonkers. She wasn’t perfect, and there were lots of things she did/said that I found maddening, but at the end of the day she is so much more. She’s the Tully woman who no one thought would survive the North. She’s the woman who stopped an assassin with her bare hands. She’s the Lady of Winterfell, who loved her children so fiercely no one would ever dare say she wasn’t a wolf, no matter how much Tully blood was in her veins. She was the mother of kings and queens. Sansa learned how to play the game at the hands of Cersei Lannister and Petyr Baelish and a whole host of terrible people, but she learned kindness and love first. She learned how to be a lady, and the Lady of Winterfell from her mother. Catelyn Stark was Sansa’s first teacher, and she honored her mother in her coronation dress, and in every courtesy. We may not have seen Catelyn’s influence on Bran because D&D hate him but nothing in this world could convince me that he didn’t find some way to honor her in his own fashion. The heart of this story has always been the Starks, and the heart of the Starks was Catelyn Tully Stark.

Cersei x Jaime Shipper Ask Game || @lannisqueen sent me all the questions, how greedy
1. What first made you start shipping them? At first, it was because of this quote: “I crossed a thousand leagues to come to you, and lost the best part of me along the way. Don’t tell me to leave.” I really feel for Jaime each time I read it. They both were separated for so long and he comes back to her at an awful time but you can see he loves her. He just wants to marry her and for them to be together, of course he’s kinda selfish, he knows she’s vulnerable and will need him, but in a way so is he because he lost what he thought defined him and it’s all a mess but a beautiful mess. After that, rp happened and they became my OTP.
2. Do you prefer Cersei or Jaime? Jaime, he’s my muse for a reason. I liked him since day one when he pushed Bran out of that window. He appears to be arrogant, impulsive and careless, which he is, but looking deeper into his blunt remarks and his ruthlessness, he's not the dishonorable and disloyal man everyone in that world thinks he is, sure, he can be questionable but he has his own code to act on (eve if he saw all the knighthood ideals he believed in shattered), and that is love. Love is his main fuel and that is something I relate with. He operates in this really grey area where he can do some good things or some really terrible ones for love, and he's aware of it, he knows what he’s done and why, and he’s not sorry for any of it. His POV is the one I enjoy the most too.
3. Do you prefer Cersei and Jaime’s relationship in the books or in the show? They’re so different I can’t pick just one! It’s a bit unfair because now their story is complete in the show and I loved every second of it, specially the end.
4. What other fictional couples remind you of them? Lucrezia and Cesare from The Borgias. I haven’t finished watching BUT I know the important bits and a friend of mine always talked to me of how alike they were.
5. Do you read fanfiction? If so any favs/recs? From time to time and only because two people I know wrote these x x
6. Do you enjoy fanart? If so, any favs/recs? I do but I don’t really have them saved anywhere public to share the links. I’ve already shared my faves with you.
7. Fav Cersei x Jaime edit or gif set? There’s the Jaime & Cersei husband/wife references from the books and this He will come. I know he will. He must. Jaime is my only hope.
8. Have you writen fanfiction or drawn fanart of them? Not yet but I’m in the process of writing my first fic.
9. Name one headcanon you have of them. :) Jaime got his appendix removed when he was eight and Cersei couldn’t sleep that night he was at the hospital, she was feeling the pain he was in too.
10. Fav alternate universe setting for them? I’m trash for all the modern stuff and I know it was crack but I sort of love our changed at birth au.
11. What star sign do you think they are? I pick Leo as canon, for reasons, but Aries works too.
12. What MBTI type/types do you think they are? Jaime is ESTP and Cersei is probably ESTJ, I’m not 100% sure about her.
13. Who do you think takes control more in the bedroom? Jaime does have more control, he likes to dominate more often than not there but they tend to switch.
14. Should Cersei and Jaime have fled to the free cities together at any point and if so when? When they were younger and Cersei wasn’t as ambitious about the throne.
15. What songs remind you of Cersei and Jaime? Already replied.
16. Genderbent Cersei x Jaime, yes or no? Nah. If Jaime was a woman he’d be Cersei and if Cersei was a man she’d be Jaime, so what’s the point?
Show specific:
17. Fav Cersei x Jaime show scene? This scene from season 6
18. Fav show kiss? That tongue while they’re kissing
19. Fav show quote regarding their relationship? “Fuck prophecy. Fuck fate. Fuck everyone who isn't us. We're the only ones who matter, the only ones in this world.”
20. Did you like their ending? I LOVED IT. LOVED IT. So satisfying in many levels. I need a brand new post to explain each point, because I love it for both, separately too for different reasons and then together.
21. Do you think Nik and/or Lena ship Cersei x Jaime? I don’t know if they’d use the word “ship it”, I think they’re really great and professional actors who really understand their characters and their motivations, and know the importance of their characters’ relationship. BUT THEY SHIP IT, OKAY?
22. Fav cast quote about their relationship? Nikolaj:  It’s the end of the movie, there’s been a big, big battle. Go to dark. It’s black for ten seconds… and comes up this sign that says “20 YEARS LATER”. There’s a small cottage, Jaime and Cersei are sitting there. “Finally, my love. Finally”. And the music
23. Do you believe that Tommen would have accepted their relationship if he had known? Eventually, after a looooooot of time and space to process things. He’s too young and I think what made Myrcella accept it as fast as she did was the time she spent in Dorne, it gave her a different perspective of things, and Tommen’s world is not as open and accepting.
24. What would they have named their baby if they had lived? As cliche as it is and its everywhere already, Joanna for a baby girl, and don’t kill me, but Tyrion for a boy just because they owe him their lives.
25. What would have happened between them if Jaime would have stayed in Kings Landing in season 7? I think it would have been harder for Cersei to concrete that alliance with Euron but other than that not much. Cersei was right about what was going to happen once the fight in the North was over. I know one thing that wouldn’t have happened though lol
26. Why did Jaime sleep with and have a brief relationship with Brienne? I need an entire one-shot to describe what happened there.
27. Do you think Cersei really ordered for Jaime to be killed? It wouldn’t be out of the ordinary. I have a thread with one Qyburn where he insinuates that Jaime siding with the enemies presents a vulnerability to their strategy and Jaime’s a traitor betraying the Queen, so he makes me suspect Qyburn is the one behind the order. He’s very smart. But who know?
Asoiaf specific:
28. Fav Cersei x Jaime book scene? The altar sex! I found this post I need to reblog about the importance of that scene. It’s a symbolic union, the comfirmation of their love in front of all the gods since they can’t make it public. She’s his home. Also what we talked about, how it proves wrong those who says she was disgusted by his stump and how he still is her champion and Cersei’s the first one to remind him he still has another hand, also “I am not whole without you”.
29. Fav book quote regarding their relationship? “Come at once. Help me. Save me. I need you as I have never needed you before. I love you, I love you, I love you."
30. Do you think Jaime is the valonqar? Yes, I wish he wasn’t but it’s possible. GRRM makes me doubt about all prophecies.
31. Do you think Cersei and Jaime will die together? Yes!!! To infinity.
32. Do you think Jaime will have any sort of romantic or sexual relationship with Brienne? I don’t think so, I see their book relationship more based on respect than actual romantic feelings.
33. Do you think Cersei will meet and have any sort of romantic or sexual relationship with Euron? I think the vision of Aeron Greyjoy about the kraken like figure with tentacles on the Iron Throne and a woman by its side is a foreshadowing of Euron and Cersei. I don’t see them involved romantically, no, but in a sexual way, could be.
34. Will Cersei and Jaime have sex again? I wish, Jaime will always be attracted to her and feel that desire, but it’s hard to find the right time and for him to forget about the other men she’s been with.
35. Do you think Jaime will return to Cersei in Winds of Winter or not until A Dream of Spring? Already replied

All Roads Lead to the Same Castle: Pt 2 Deals, Annulments, and dangerous liaisons
If you haven’t check out Pt. 1 of this little series of metas on s.7 and s.8 predictions. It is basically my winding road ramblings on the subject.
Spoiler Alerts of course. And a disclaimer that it is really hard to predict where the show is going and do even pretend you understand what exactly is driving the characters at this point. I don’t fully blame the show. It is extremely challenging trying to work a story backward. They know the ending but now how the author plans on getting there. Not to belabor that point...my thoughts and Pt.2 under the cut.
THE BACKROOM DEAL
Jon is not the only one up to political maneuvers. In the finale, Tyrion goes to speak with Cersei alone. We believe she has refused to help fight the WW. After speaking, Cersei returns and says she will help. Yay! We quickly learn that Cersei has no intention of helping. Jaime storms off. This is the last straw for him. What about Tyrion?
Tyrion may just have done a backroom deal with Cersei. Thinking Cersei is pregnant with a potential an heir to the throne and knowing  Dany claims to be incapable of conceiving. There is an opportunity for Tyrion here.
Thus, far he has indulged the WW threat. Tyrion is a bit like the Maseters he never really believed it and he never completely took it seriously. Even seeing the wight, I’m not sure Tyrion takes it that seriously. His thinking might be let Jon & Dany take care of the Northern threat if they live, they will be seriously weakened. Making easy work for Lannister troops. Cersei promises Tyrion a role on the small council. Once her child is born, Tyrion can groom the kid to be a great ruler.
Tyrion appears to be having serious doubts about Dany. He did not like or trust any of the people in her alliance with the potential exceptions of Greyworm and Missandei.  The Sand Snakes killed Myrcella. The Tyrells are partially responsible for the events that led to Tommen’s suicide. They are also responsible for framing Tyrion for Joffrey’s death. He never liked Theon from way back at Winterfell.
We could even put the tinfoil on and conclude [TINFOIL ALERT] Tyrion possibly concocted a poor battle strategy for Dany knowing that it would inevitably get her allies captured or killed. Leaving him as the sole influence over her. This almost worked until Jon showed up and Dany did not burn him for not bending. Jon also took Dany’s focus off the war in the south and directed it to the WW threat in the North.
Tyrion sees now that controlling Dany might not ever be as easy as he thought. That combined with Dany’s penchant for burning her enemies (except Jon) and her inability to have a successor could push Tyrion to do a deal with Cersei. A child would be much easier to control via a regency.
The look he had on his face as he stood outside Dany’s door was one of concern. Remember in Pt 1. The possibility that Jon is manipulating Dany was discussed.
DOES JON SNOW KNOW ANYTHING?
The question becomes are Jon and Tyrion aware of what the other is doing? If this story gets the simple straightforward play. Tyrion didn’t do a backroom deal with Cersei and will be shocked when Jaime arrives to tell them Cersei won’t be sending troops North. (Come on, Tyrion knows Cersei! Why would her lie surprise him? Even if he didn’t do a deal with her, he has to expect her betrayal) And his look of concern or anger that we saw on the show during the J&D sexy time could be a tinge of jealousy as some suggest. Or worry that she is being distracted.
Or his look could mean that Jon getting closer to Dany is putting a serious wrench in his plans. Perhaps, he is on to Jon’s plans and is further questioning Dany’s leadership abilities. And feels a bit guilty. Tyrion did at one point seem to be encouraging the relationship. Perhaps, he is having second thoughts about encouraging it.
Once Jon’s parentage is revealed, we could see him taking sides. Who’s? Again, it’s hard to say. The show is going to play this for maximum suspense. Let’s not forget it looks like Jaime will be showing up at Winterfell, too. It’s possible they all begin to take sides.
YES, SANSA IS STILL MARRIED!!!
Another [TINFOIL ALERT] Tyrion may even be considering rekindling his marriage to Sansa. It is one of the first things he mentions to Jon. After seeing Jon’s reaction to his comment about his marriage to Sansa, he thought perhaps he would need to be more careful when broaching the subject.
If Tyrion had hopes on re-enstating his marriage to Sansa, he could have decided it was to his advantage to win Jon over. He could have decided to work with Jon. OR he could be very interested in getting rid of Jon (first by appearing to work with him and then betraying him). After which he would claim that his marriage to Sansa was not a sham at all. And he could make a claim for Winterfell. (Arya and Bran showing up also puts a dent in this plan for Tyrion…)
In the books, Sansa has not married again. She also notes that her still being married to a presumed alive Tyrion is a problem for Littlefinger, who wants to marry her off to Harry Hardyng. The show really skirts this question only saying her marriage to Tyrion was not consummated. That’s grounds for an annulment. Except, Sansa has not been granted one yet.
The week after the finale articles have come out about GRRM original outline that said there would be a love triangle between Jon-Arya-Tyrion. The thinking is that this love triangle was transferred to Jon-Dany-Tyrion. Possible except that it gets the tension of the dynamic backward. The Jon-Sansa-Littlefinger triangle represents what the original was supposed to be. Jon and Arya (in the outline) were supposed to be tormented by their feelings for each other until Jon’s parentage was revealed. Thus, resulted in a dangerous love triangle between Jon-Arya-Tyrion. The dynamics of a Jon-Dany-Tyrion triangle don’t work in this context. The torment will happen after the reveal. In the outline, it is not known whether Jon and Arya were supposed to be aware of each other's feelings. Only that it caused them torment. It possible this idea was tossed out. It’s possible that this was reversed and applied to Jon and Dany to cause tension. (I’ve recently read that theory as well…) AS we know it’s near impossible to make predictions about the show at this point. That being said whatever the love triangle we are meant to see Jon’s reaction to Littlefinger’s declaration of love for Sansa was highly suspicious. It suggests that we are witnessing one triangle already. I mean, he nearly killed the man. Imagine, what will he do if Tyrion tries to make a case for his marriage to Sansa?
Jon will discover that he is Sansa’s cousin. The actors have long said this will change their relationship. To the best of the audiences’ knowledge, they don’t know this yet. (more on the audiences’ knowledge in Pt.3). Many believe Jon has strong feelings for Sansa. Will they eventually act on repressed feelings (if they do in fact exist)? Even being cousins will they have to keep it a secret to preserve the alliance with Dany? What will Jon do when he knows his parentage and Tyrion tries to make a case for the marriage to Sansa? Hell, what will Sansa do?
Again, it can’t be stated enough that in the books an alive Tyrion is a problem if Sansa wants to marry again. Annulments are not handed out lightly. It takes money and power to get one even if the much was not consummated. Usually, the man has to request it or a woman’s very powerful family. If she wants an annulment from another person of a powerful family who does not want it, you have a problem. Rhaegar’s getting annulment from Elia, really would have had to have been kept secret lest he loses the support of Dorne. Most likely in the books, he will have tried to do something similar to the first Aegon and have two wives. Unfortunately, Westeros is a patriarchy and Sansa or Dany won’t likely be getting two husbands. Though, it really isn’t a bad endgame. [PLENTY OF FAN FICS WITH DANY+fAEGON+JON AS A TRIAD]. No, Sansa will have to get rid of Tyrion if she wants to marry anyone again. Add to this that she may (or may not) have more than familial feelings for Jon...and...well...
HAPPY ENDINGS?
In a happy ending, we might see a J+D union and S+T union or a J+S and a D+T with one pair ruling one region and another ruling the other region. Or J+D each ruling a region and S+T acting as their hands. Doubtful that we see that happening. We know that the end will be bittersweet.
I predict a dark ending with a sense of hope. An ending in which our heroes the Starks become very morally gray. An ending was they will have to act deceptively, even become downright bad. While I personally love the idea of exile for Dany and possibly for Tyrion as well. That is probably not the ending.  Both may befall a darker fate at the hands of the Starks. There is a great meta on Tyrion being the savage giant Sansa slays in the prophecy. I’ve had this theory for awhile. He is the only character referred to in the books as a giant. And there is something very savage about book!Tyrion. Littlefinger was a perfect red herring for the savage giant. Except Sansa did not slay him, not with her own hands. The true savage giant will be someone she kills with her own hands. Tyrion even says “Sansa is not a killer, not yet at least”. Sansa is inching closer and closer to being an outright killer on the show. Both Ramsey and Littlefinger were executed on her call. And while she has not gotten her hands dirty, it’s only a matter of time before she does.
How and the ultimate why Sansa would have to get rid of Tyrion remains to be seen. Does he get wind of her feelings for Jon? Does Sansa find out that he is planning to betray Dany which would put Jon in danger? This goes for Dany’s fate as well. Is Jon a true undercover lover or simply trying to make the best of a bad situation and secure Dany’s help. We really just don’t know what is motivating our characters.
We do know Jon, Tyrion, and Sansa are all trying to play the game, a very dangerous game. And they are all headed for a collision course with not just the White Walkers but with each other at Winterfell. It is unclear exactly how much they are all aware of the others actions. (In my ideal world Jon and Sansa are communicating in secret with each other while apart.) In not fully understanding the game each is playing, they could become very dangerous to each other and those around them.
