BG3 Wedding Season Tag Game

Inspired by @lewdisescariot's post about Spring/Summer being wedding season, I present to you an unofficial Wedding Season Tag Game!

It's time to create your special day. Your favorite companion or NPC has proposed to your OC, or your OC proposed to them, and now it's time to plan and throw a wedding! The first list is about the details, while the second zeroes in on specific moments!

Tag a friend and challenge them to answer some (or all) of the prompts on this list. There are 31 prompts, so you can also use the prompts as a daily headcanon/art/fic challenge. Use the prompts however you like! If you want to share your stuff with a shared tag, you can use the tag #bg3weddingseason

✨Details✨

Wedding, or something else? - What do the characters think about weddings or marriages? If not a wedding, would they acknowledge their relationship in a different kind of ceremony?

Proposal - Who proposed to whom? Were there rings or other gifts involved?

Bachlor/Bachelorette parties? - Do the characters get a bachelor(ette) party before the big day? Does anything crazy happen?

Pre-Ceremony Events - Are there any special events, ceremonies, rituals, or preparations the couple must do before the wedding day? Ritual cleansing, asking a parent for the character's hand, mehndi/henna painting, little pre-ceremony games or challenges, etc?

Formal or informal affair? - Is the wedding elaborate and grand, or simple and sweet? Is it a tenday-long series of parties or is it a quick vow exchange in front of Withers?

Venue - Where is the ceremony and/or reception? Inside? Outside?

Timing - What time of year are they getting married? What time of day?

Traditions - What traditions are involved in the ceremony/reception? Is there a mix of traditions from either partner?

Decor - What kind of notable decor is there at the venue? Do they have something like an arch, a carpet aisle, fairy lights in the trees, or other elaborate decorations? Did they choose to decorate at all?

Flowers - What flowers or other natural elements do they have as part of their decoration, if any? Are these flowers significant?

Bouquet or no bouquet? - Does someone carry a bouquet, or do they choose to carry something else? Or do they walk down the aisle with nothing at all?

Music - Is there music at the ceremony or the reception? What kind of music? Do they hire an orchestra, band, or half-decent bard to serenade them?

Outfits - What is the married couple going to wear? Is there special significance in the outfit choices, colors, jewelry, etc?

Rings - What do their rings look like, if they choose to exchange any?

Vows and Unity Ceremonies - Does the couple exchange vows? Do they complete any kind of "unity" ceremony, like handfasting, planting a tree together, etc?

Wedding Party - Are there bridesmaids, groomsmen, attendants, special witnesses? Are they dressed a certain way or positioned in a special spot?

Going Down the Aisle - Does anyone escort the character walking down the aisle? Do they go alone?

I Now Pronounce You... - Do your characters change their last names, keep their last names, arrange for a specific kind of name? For example, "Mr. and Mr. Dekarios" or "Lord and Lady Ravengard-Cliffgate"?

Guests - Who else is there? Are there any special details about how the guests are arranged, what they are wearing, or what they are doing?

Food - What kind of food and drink is being served at the reception? Is there a lush feast or simple fare? Is there a wedding cake or some other kind of traditional wedding food?

Dancing - Is there any dancing? Elegant waltzes or all-out party-hard tavern music dance parties?

Ending the Night - How does the reception end? Is there a big send-off, or does everyone quietly fade out as the night turns into dawn?

Honeymoon - Does the couple take a honeymoon anywhere?

✨Specific Moments✨

The Night Before - Write about the night before the wedding. Are your characters nervous? Excited? Do they see their partner or keep away?

Getting Ready - Who helps your characters get ready? Are there any sweet, funny, bittersweet, or adorable moments that happen?

The First Look - Write about the moment when your married couple sees each other in their wedding outfits for the first time.

Ceremony - Write the scene where they exchange vows, complete a unity ceremony, exchange rings, or etc.

First Dance - Does your couple have a first dance? What is that like for them?

Private Moments - Every couple needs a private moment away from the big day. When does your couple escape the festivities, before, during, or after the ceremony/reception, to have a private, quiet (or perhaps not so quiet) moment?

Reception - Does anything specific happen at the reception? Drama, a sweet moment with a parent or other companions, cake-smashing, games, a surprise?

First Night, Morning After - Write a specific moment or detail about their first night together as a wedded couple, and/or what it is like for them to wake up the next morning as a wedded couple.

Different cultures around the world have different wedding expectations, ceremonies, events, and so forth, so if you find that this list doesn't let you explore those ideas, feel free to adjust the prompts to suit you and your characters more!

What's the Pride Month Challenge, you might find yourself asking? Well, this year it's a little bingo game we've put together, featuring some classic tropes. The aim of this particular game? I don't write fic - can I still participate?

Ab. So. Lutely!!! We've done this challenge for a few years now (we've missed a year or two for weddings and other life stuff, whoops!), but in the past we've had people doodle, sketch, draw, make edits, create props or other physical art, and even curate playlists! The three of us are writers, so you're very likely to see fic or ficlets from us...but you? Oh. Oh, you can do whatever your heart desires!!!

Are there word limits/expectations for a finished product?

NO!!! :D Zero. Literally zero expectations. We aren't putting together an exchange, we aren't holding a competition, we're just trying to get the spirit of creation in the air. That's it! So whether you're writing 50 words or 5,000, whether you've made a rough sketch on a notebook page or fully lined/colored a scene, you're good! You're so good. As long as you've made something, you've earned a stamp on that bingo card, baby!!!

What if I don't want to do something fandom-y? Can it be OCs/original work?

OF COURSE!!! 100%. You don't even have to ask!!! Show the world your OCs! Tell the world about your story's worldbuilding! It's all fair game :)

What if I don't want to post what I made?

Don't sweat it! Again, this is...the farthest thing from official. This is for fun, and this is for the sake of making something. Sharing your work can be nerve-wracking - don't feel like you have to! We'd love to see you playing along with us, of course, but as long as you've made something that you're proud of, you've earned that stamp! No ifs, ands, or buts!

Is it cool if my creations aren't necessarily pride-themed?

Totally! We host this challenge during pride month because (1) it traditionally works better for the three of us than NaNoWriMo because of our schedules, and (2) we're queer creators ourselves! But if you're feeling a prompt and can't find a way to make it relevant to pride, PLEASE don't sweat it! As I've been known to say (and then get laughed at for saying), this challenge is no rules, just right, Outback Steakhouse :P

I've got too many games I want to play and not enough free time 😭 I still need to finish my BG3 playthrough but since Endless Ocean: Luminous came out I've been playing a lot of that instead. Also just got back into Wizard101 last night. Started playing House Flipper again last weekend. Still need to finish BOTW so I can start a TOTK playthrough and finish Pokemon Shield so I can start on Pokemon Violet. I've been fighting off the urge to start up a new Skyrim playthrough for weeks. My brother just told me that Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is getting ported to the Switch. And now I'm suddenly feeling inspired to replay DAI... And throughout all of this I'm also playing the hell out of DragonVale on my phone. Someone just pay me to play video games all day please

#and before anyone suggests it: no i cant try to get into streaming #the way i play video games is extremely frustrating for other people to watch ahdjsksl #no one is going to give me money for producing a video where i spend two hours checking every barrel in the map while juggling my inventory #and then immediately give up on a puzzle and just sit in silence for 30 minutes while i look up a walkthrough instead #i need a situation that pays me $200 a day just to be autistic at the screen alone in the comfort of my own home #rambling #a few years ago i made it a mission to play all of the dragon age games and dlcs in order and i did not complete it #i got all the way to inquisition before i quit #i had already played it on ps3 but i wanted to replay on my new gaming laptop and unfortunately my computer decided it was too complicated #and also i just wanted to play as an elf again and i was resisting that urge bc i played as an elf the first time and wanted something new #so i didnt connect to my character as much #BUT ive learned a lot about optimizing my games from getting bg3 to run on my computer #so i think i could get it to handle dai now. especially if i upgrade to ssd like ive been wanting #and i just saw a dai post on my dash that made me daydream about possible characters and i was struck with inspiration #when i first played through on ps3 i didnt know anything about da lore. it was my first dragon age game #i was just doing whatever i thought seemed coolest #so i basically modeled my inquisitor after my dnd oc and then just picked a vallaslin i thought was pretty #and then when it came time to pick a specialization i was just like 'i mean my hand has rift magic right? seems obvious enough' #but now i know the LORE. and the dalish really interest me. and i want to make an inquisitor thats their own character #i didnt want to replay another elf mage bc i thought it would be too similar #but at the same time i wanted to re-experience dai (and experience trespasser for the first time) now that i knew more about the dalish #(with mods that fix the annoying bits where your character seems to not know about their own religion of course lol...) #i was thinking about that and i just got hit with some inspiration #instead of 'my dnd character but with a cool tattoo and rift magic and they kinda roll with the inquisitor stuff bc idk whats going on' #what if i made a more intentional character with a much different personality and their own backstory #theyre still the first of their clan but i know what that means now so theyre not really into the herald of andraste stuff #theyre a devotee of falon'din with his vallaslin and fittingly choose necromancy specialization (tho theyre annoyed by all the maker talk) #they can look cool and goth and maybe they even make some different choices about the well of sorrows 👀 #i could keep rambling but im running out of tags gah #anyways ive got lots of ideas now and i think the playthrough would be unique enough to be worth it

I don’t really care about shipping THAT much but honestly a lot depends on what about a pairing makes you like it. what about it draws you in, what doesnt, and why you want to change that thing. what it would become if you changed that thing, what changing that thing would do to it.

I saw a post about zukka the other day where OP was groaning about how many ppl make zuko into a babygirl for his long hair while acting like sokka is this hypermasculine hunter type, despite so much of his character deals with themes of inadequacy and wanting to make people around you proud/ take you seriously. also him liking shopping and arts&crafts and into theatre and writing poetry. OP said something like ‘it becomes about the viewers desire to fit a character to their own tastes, without considering who the character actually is’ which is such an eloquent way of putting it!

so when it comes to messing around with identities via ships its like… playing with gender and shit is fun! its good to explore and mess around and try things. if your outlet is through your favorite characters, hey, go nuts. but I think its really important to look at the way we feel and consider why we feel that way.

literally whenever i sit down to write something i go ‘okay. is this for me to be self indulgent and ooc. or is this to be faithful to the characters as they exist as narrative tools’ basically am i writing for Me or am i writing for Them. and i do both! but it just comes down to that I dont like taking characters out of the context of their stories too much. im a firm believer of ‘liking something because of something, not despite it’, so when it comes to m/f ships its like. okay well why am I drawn to this over a gay ship. do I think ‘damn i wish this was gay’ or is the fact that its mf add a little flavor. for me its all about the flavor

roselii - bad home life. she's overprotective bc of it

ryuusei - isolation of being in space only to come to earth & have to act like a celebrity

sarlina - blank spots in her life bc her ability consumes memories if shes not careful.

i can't really add much that anyone hasn't said and covered really well ( and i'm glad that this is being spoken about again; this conversation is extremely important ), but i'm definitely in the boat of needing to send more asks in general lately as well. rectifying that is what i'll definitely be doing here and is the game plan moving forward! my mutuals far and wide are extensively talented, especially in the realm of oc's and fan-content, so the least i can do is boost that and make their work be seen.

(( alright, I haven't gotten too much feedback on the navigation blog post but I figure that's more just because I don't have too many followers, so the post may not have circulated very far. regardless, I do think I'm going to start up the out of character navigation account, since I think it could be very helpful to getting new accounts seen!

lmk if ya'll have any thoughts on what is important to be added in a bio. i'm going with currently-revealed info about the blog's character/characters (one post per blog, with multiple character bio sections) like name, age, pronouns, occupation, pokemon team, what region they can be currently found in (If any), if they have a preferred type/s, if they have support pokemon, and appearance/distinguishing traits

for a mod section i figured things like if the mod is an adult/minor and if they're comfortable interacting with minors/adults (Ik some people aren't, and that's a valid boundary to set!)though this would be optional to share, what account they'll be following from, and their main if they're comfortable with that (Assuming it isn't the blog they follow from), how to refer to the mod, and possibly other things the mod wants known/to clarify.

finally an account navigation section, detailing if the account has any boundaries they want people to follow (eg, no sapient pokemon), and possibly some relevant links; maybe to specific tags, or their about section etc. This section would be for general housekeeping stuff, so if a mod wanted they could ask to have their rules/dni here.

I think a specification/clarification to if the account is just pokeblogging (fully in character as a blog), pokeblogging and rp (some interactions, so not just the character's blog), or a multifandom/general rp account (though I might set a limit on those so I don't get overwhelmed) would also be useful.

I've also seen a few introjects (I believe that's the term?) and systems posting pokeirl stuff on like, personal accounts (ish? they look like my main account at least), maybe a specification if you're cool with rp/interactions and not just vibing and remembering your source could be good? This one may just be because I have anxiety and dont want to overstep anyone's boundaries by accident lol. I'm a singlet so I don't know things.

any suggestions/advice would be very welcomed! i want to make this blog as useful, accessible and just generally handy as I can. if anyone has any themes they recommend too, i'd appreciate it! i've been using the same accessible themes a lot and variety is fun. oh! i also think the account would be useful for things like community discussion posts or information sharing, like on tags to use instead of "Unreality" (lmk if i need to remove the word itself so the post isn't filtered out for people) to make the community more accessible for people

i also want to share people's art! i adore seeing everyone's creations, and i think it would be wonderful to show them off!

If I could give anyone a bit of advice about mimicking the style of your favorite show, it's that I highly recommend looking at & studying the background characters before you decide to pull traits from main characters

the powerpuff girls look different from the other children from pokey oaks kindergarten, dib and zim look different from other skool children or irken invaders, simpsons background characters are not allowed to have stuff like lisa and bart's hair or homer's 5-oclock shadow in normal circumstances

background characters are meant to be 1) numerous and 2) blend into the scenery, so they're a great way to see what the ppl making the show consider the average and consistent traits they want to repeat in order to fill a crowd or make new side characters

and then once you understand that, THEN you can go nuts and break those conventions, make your cool as hell ocs, and appreciate why the main characters stand out the way they do
