Needing a Sua perspective from the ALNST auditions to Round 1. I never put much thought into what happens to the cast post-Anakt Garden graduation (do they immediately go to the auditions? Is there a period of time where they dont see each other until they recognize each other at the audition? Theres a considerable amount of time between the auditions and their Alien Stage season, did they see each other often between then or...? etc.), but regardless, imagine being her and having to choose between sabotaging your own audition so you dont have to go the the Sing, Win, or Die Show or putting your in your all in hopes of winning and spending just a bit more time with this girl you love because you know itll likely be the last time you see her. Tonight's Mission:

Time to give some dragons (And a wizard) a bath!

So, I've had these statuettes since like, high school [My brother also has a set of his own, which was likewise dug out of storage this past summer, when my folks and I moved out to the farm - Lest you think I was alone in my coolness], but when I moved out east after my first stint in university for my first post-university job, they got packed up and put into storage.

And they've been sitting there, in the shop, since, like 2009.

But now that I've got more room (and found some decent bookshelves on FB marketplace for a reasonable price, so I have enough storage space), it's time to bring them back out into the world, I think.

But, yeah... 15 years of sitting in a box in the workshop hasn't exactly been great dust-wise.

(Seriously, the old beat-up box they were in was a Sears box, because Amazon delivery just wasn't as big of thing by that point).

And their individual boxes weren't exactly great to begin with.

So, like, there's dust deeply embedded in some of the grooves and such:

(I probably wasn't super diligent about dusting them thoroughly when I was younger, either, if I'm being honest).

So, we'll see if a quick rinse in the sink with some dish soap can shine 'em back up!

Thankfully, my pewter ones (which were better quality overall anyway) came in nicer boxes and seem to have been largely spared the extra dust. Which is good, because they probably are a lot more touchy about cleaning methods, and it means I don't have to cross that bridge today.

The Results:

Looks like the rinse worked perfectly, no weird effects because dish soap is pretty safe for most materials, I'd imagine resin/acrylic/whatever these were made of included. Got into those hard-to-reach nooks and crannies and looks like the dust has been rinsed out.

The one downside - I apparently have precisely one statuette (even including the pewter ones) that has a felt-lined bottom.

I only realized that once it was already in the water.

Ah well, as long as it dries properly, I can't imagine it being a big issue in the long run.

Once these bad boys dry, they're going up on my bookshelves and returning to their duties of being rad as hell.

Might even have to look through my dice bins and find some sets to pair with them all for some photos or something.

on that previous post's tags note, the fact that anyone would look at a Tellius character and reduce them to a single trait with no other characterization is absolutely bonkers to me. the fact that anyone can play a Tellius game and walk out being like "wow that character had nothing to them except this one aspect about them" is completely bonkers to me... but even more so when it's a very recurring character with a very massive range of personality and traits across each conversation.

I've noticed something common about my favorite media. It is some sort of healthy open-endedness.

In Kirby the general spirit is 'these villains didn't "deserve" forgiveness but if after Kirby kicked their ass they choose to befriend them - just let them'. Undertale falls under similar vein - mostly in the form of sparing Asgore who is not redeemable but if we let him be that's nobody's business. In Deltarune (so far) the message is 'your choices doesn't matter' and Toby said there will only be one ending - but we see effects of our actions on other characters! What we DO choose is how Kris and others will feel even if in grand scheme of things it doesn't effect anything. In Night in the Woods it is outright spelled - "Nothing can save us forever, but many things can save us today", and another case of 'one ending, many things to do and feel on the way to it'.

Soulsborne games are more depressing, it is more like 'we all are doomed either way, just choose YOUR poison.. well maybe there is a way to break the order but it requires so much sacrifice and atrocities that it's morbid new order will stand on THIS lol'. PMMM and Magia Record are just 'you made a huge mistake personally but in grand scheme of things your suffering keeps universe running, though just accepting it robs from your humanity so yell at that white demon and make the best out of your friendships while you last anyway.. well maybe there is a w- okay that's just Soulsborne but with magical girls'

I just noticed that my favorite favorite FAVORITE things sorta lack definition. You are not sure what they try to teach you, more like they gently prod you towards more 'good', more human choice but even then it's efficiency is debatable.
