“you’re always leaving me” FitzSimmons? For the angst prompts
Hey nonny! Thank you for the prompt, I hope you like it!
[send me an angst prompt + a ship]
Fitz had, what his therapist graciously called, abandonment trauma. It had started as a child, she said, with his father, and had grown with each event after. The brain injury he’d suffered had only exasperated it. On dark days, it was all he could focus on. He saw the door shutting behind his father, Jemma turning and leaving him when he needed him most, Jemma disappearing into the monolith. Jemma. Every time Jemma left felt like a bleeding wound torn open new.
“I’ve got to go,” Jemma said, packing her bag.
“What?”
“Mack asked me to go check out something on site, do a little undercover work.”
“Jemma,” he said.
“I’ll be okay.”
“No, I know, that’s,” he said, and he tripped over his tongue with a growl. He hadn’t had that happen in a while, and that day had been hard for his brain. “You’re always leaving me.”
Jemma stopped, and turned to face him.
“Excuse me?”
“How many times do I have to watch you walk away from me?”
“Fitz,” she said with a sigh. “We talked about this.”
“You talked, but I still have to stand by and watch you leave whenever something comes up, like you’re trying to get away from me.”
“That is not what this is.”
“No? Because it sure as hell seems like it to me.”
She set down the item she had been preparing forcefully.
“You’re still not over this cursed thing,” she said, trying for calm but the upset tremor in her voice betrayed it. “We are not cursed. I’m not leaving you because of some curse, Fitz. I have to go do my job.”
“It’s not just this. It’s not – it’s a recurring theme with us. It is always you walking away from me, leaving me behind, abandoning me when I needed you. I can’t keep doing this. Over and over.”
“I can’t do this right now,” she said, voice clipped. “I have to go do my job, and be in the field. So, if you don’t mind, we can argue about this later. Maybe when you’re feeling more reasonable.”
He scoffed, and didn’t flinch when she shot him an icy glare.
“I have to go,” she repeated, zipping her bag and shouldering it. “We’ll talk about this when I get back.”
She left, shutting the door with an angry click. Fitz closed his eyes and regretted it all immediately. He hadn’t told her that he loved her. She was going out into the field where anyone could hurt her, could betray her, and the last thing she could hear from him was that. If she never wanted to see him again when she got home, his insecurities finally too much, he would understand. He didn’t really want to be around himself, either.

Today is, officially, the last day of 2020 - so it's literally just in time that I'm getting to @aosrecweek's amazing challenge. But that does go to show the nature of this crazy year a little bit, right? Time has just been INSANE, and I honestly cannot believe it's so close to over.
That said, I want to put it out there that everyone - absolutely everyone - who created something in this mad year, is a SUPERHERO. Like. We could have hidden away in dark corners, curled into little balls, and lost touch with our creativity entirely - but instead, we made some of the most fantastic content I have ever seen. And, excuse the language, but that is fucking amazing, of each and every single one of us. We're bloody INCREDIBLE, you guys. We really are.
Now, the rules of this challenge dictate that I've got to start with some of my own things, then repeat with the same number of creations by other people. So I'm going to do that, and I apologise for the sheer length (and self-plug-iness) of what is about to follow - but, bloody incredible, remember? I really mean that. 💜💜💜
My Own:
you could call me babe for the weekend - 19k of Spideychelle being oblivious, mutually pining IDIOTS while being snowed in. And, you know, fake dating. (This thing was SO MUCH FUN to write and though, yeah, it got completely out of control, as evidenced by the 19k, I still really love it.)
'tis the damn season - my first attempt at writing a multi-chap, and, yeah, it only has one chapter as of now, but I really love said chapter. Basically, it's Daisy and Mackelena being friends, and honestly just the BEST friends - I adore the style I managed to achieve in this thing. Plus, the Skimmons I have planned up next is going to be da bomb.
the closest thing - Philindaisy plus fake family. Also; amusement parks. And for a fangirl like me - well, it was pretty much a dream come true to write!
oh valley of plenty - in this fic, I basically told myself, so AoS won't give us Huntingbird in the finale? Fine. I'll just do it myself then - in the fluffiest way possible. And that's exactly what I did - making them, and their kids, be best friends in Perthshire.
maybe life should be about more - a very angsty Skimmons and Daisy-centric AU, focusing on the internalised homophobia Daisy has experienced through her life, and shaking it off (and eventually, y'know, getting together with Jemma.)
and it's dark in a cold december (but i've got you to keep me warm) - Fitzsimmons just make such a supreme pairing for hurt/comfort, what with how insanely well they understand each other and care about each other, so I'm really glad for the Fitzsimmons Secret Santa giving me the chance to write this! Basically, this follows our science duo through a stressful mission on Christmas Eve (so yes, it's a mission fic!!) and realising that the two of them can do anything together.
july second - ahhh, one of my personal favourites to write! Daisy birthday surprise fluff will always be top-notch for me, especially for all the team-as-family fluff you can add in, especially especially that this is set in Staticquake times! Also, it's from Hunter's point of view, which will forever be the most insanely fun thing to write, I do think.
i just wanna be with you - man, I'm such a big royal fan, so getting the chance to write a modern royalty AU for my OTP was nothing short of amazing!! This is Princess Daisy and her fiancée Lincoln Campbell at their official engagement interview
see the line where the skye meets the sea - shameless season 1 bby Bus Kids fluff, featuring movie nights, singalongs and... so much fluff your teeth will rot. Also I'm really freaking proud of the pun in the title okay
'cause all that you are is all that i'll ever need - Huntingbird waking up together fluff (because, fight me, Huntingbird in their sweet moments is one of the sweetest things you will ever get to read or write.) This is also my, fluffy, take on the origin of the Franny's Saloon keychain.
we love you, we love you (and we hope you love we too) - aha, my first polyship fic! Also my first try at some actually fancy HTML formatting (forever thanks to Kat for explaining.) Both of these things combined to form a fic that even I think is ridiculously fluffy and funny, and kinda amazing, at that.
and man I don't know where the time goes (but it sure goes fast like that) - Another Bus Kids movie night fic, but this one set post-season 7, and reflecting on how far they've come. A little bit more hurt/comfort-y than it's pure fluff prequel, but still super fluffy and soft. And, of course, with a happy ending.
she shares my dreams, i hope that someday, i'll share her home - snowy Fitzsimmons fluff, complete with them falling in love at the Winter Olympics, as you do.
then you walked in and my heart went boom - 16k of Dekesy for the wife, and remarkable for that, because literally a month ago from this, I hated Dekesy with my entire soul. Then I started reading Kat's fics, and, well, fell in love with them... so much so that I wrote sixteen thousand words of enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, bed sharing holiday fluff for them.
a love like that - a Fitzsimmons Cinderella AU, featuring my two favourite science babies, in true science bby style, falling in love over science and how stupid the whole courting thing is. Also, Daisy makes a brief appearance, and she's the freaking best.
ever after - ah, probably the one single fic I'm proudest of. A post-season 7 Daisy character study focusing on her emotional rollercoaster re: losing her family/things never being the same again, which just achieves... an emotional level that I have never managed to replicate again. I was full-on sobbing while writing it, and, guys, it also part-holds the Closest To Making Kat Cry prize.
blue - Daisy character study spanning snapshots of seven seasons, and before - but tied together by something blue in every moment. Researching for this, and finding all the blue moments, was very interesting, and immensely satisfying, especially since all the moments where a little bit of blue was present actually combine to chronicle Daisy's journey on the show remarkably well.
who is that girl I see - the one time I decided to write straight angst, and straight angst with no happy ending. Melinda May post-Bahrain, folks.
take my hand, take my whole life too - aww, the first thing I wrote that I really and truly loved. A Staticquake and Fitzsimmons Actors AU, featuring a proposal on set and INCREDIBLE amounts of fluff and softness.
hold out your hand, 'cause friends will be friends - the wife's favourite, and, as second fics go, pretty damn good, if I do say so myself. It's a Soulmates AU for Staticquake and Mackelena, with the focus being on DaisyMack friendship, and lots of denial, angst, and guilt about finding their soulmates. (They figure it out eventually, don't worry - it's me, of course I made them happy.)
Fitzsimmons + Fake Dating moodboard - Fake dating will always be FAB, and picturing it out in a moodboard - especially for my clueless bby best friends in love - was the best, and super satisfying.
Staticquake + Orange moodboard - One of the cooler ideas I had for Trick or Treat (which I still have not finished, heaven help me) was to make a series of moodboards for my OTP plus different colours. This orange one is just so light, and cheerful, and happy, and honestly I kinda adore it.
This Philindaisy + Family Moodboard - making moodboards can be insanely frustrating when you just can't find the photo that fits exactly right. With this one, however, I found all the pics I needed pretty insanely fast, and, better, the whole thing just worked, and really nicely so, too.
This Bus Kids + Baking Cookies moodboard - there's absolutely NO faults to be found with tiny, adorable Skye, Fitz and Jemma concocting choc chip cookies - but I'm actually doing a tiny cheat here, because, cute as my moodboard here is, the accompanying fic by my love @eowima is the SWEETEST and best thing you could ever wish for!!!
This Daisy Johnson Appreciation Week Photoset - Day 3 of Daisy Johnson Appreciation Week focused on an emotion, and I picked confidence and power, because honestly, it's nothing short of amazing how confident and powerful our gorgeous girl has become.
This Daisy Johnson Appreciation Week Photoset - One of the times I wish I could gif, because this quote about struggling though never giving up just suits Daisy perfectly. The photos I found are cool, though, and I mean, it's Daisy, so that's already absolutely fabulous.
Other People's:
I managed to find twenty-six of my own things that I liked enough to put up there (because, yes, I'm that big a dork, 26 things for me being 26 is the way to go :D) Anyway, now that gives me the amazing chance to spotlight twenty-six of my favourite creations by my FANTASTIC mutuals! 😍
To start, my wife - Kat said I couldn't put everything she's ever written on here, so, ugh, I guess I'll just do my top five then. *grumbling* Everything by Kat is on here in spirit, though!!
Chasing Cars (even after the story ends) by @aleksandrachaev - the epic Dekesy roadtrip AU and incredible Daisy character study itself, which, I do believe, finishes today!! Words aren't enough to describe how freaking AMAZING this thing is, or how spectacularly well characterised. Just: if you haven't read this yet, you are missing out. You will laugh, you will groan, you will want to wrap Daisy in a very tight hug, and you will probably cry, too. This fic just has it all, really!
there goes the maddest man this town has ever seen by @aleksandrachaev - the post-season 7 Deke-crashes-the-Framework-Zoom-call fic I didn't know I needed (but spent the next two weeks rereading every single night.) It is absolutely INCREDIBLE, with all the Deke & Team feels we missed in the final outro scene, and honestly just the most fantastic writing. I cannot recommend it enough!
To Box It Up And Start Again (everything must go) by @aleksandrachaev - bloody hell, this BROKE me. Deke never really got to say goodbye in canon, but Kat gave him the chance to do it here. And, my freaking GOODNESS, she made it so incredibly bittersweet and heart-shattering. 10/10
i am a leaf on the wind by @aleksandrachaev - a little bit of a stretched-out, reflective moment in the season 7 finale. As Daisy lingers on the edge of death, she reflects on all the lives she could have had - and, man, what a study in bittersweetness!! This entire fic is utterly incredible, and something I think all Daisy fans should read.
Falling Into Place by @aleksandrachaev - here's a tiny cheat from me (sorry, babes, lmao) because technically this isn't one fic, but a series of three. Way too amazing to miss out on, though!! Set mid-season 7, this has the Chronicoms go after a young Mary Sue Poots to kill Quake before she can become a problem for them. They stop the Chronicoms, yes, but not without a TREMENDOUS dose of feels and hurt/comfort. There's also a wonderful little dose of Dekesy friendship, and then an adult adoption (!!) that honestly made my entire day to read. Actually, that's true for the entire series - I really canNOT yell about it enough!!
destroyer of worlds by @bobbimorseisbisexual - a study in incredible parallels between Jiaying's daughters. Utterly breathtakingly done, this will give you ALL the feels for this small and complex Inhuman family.
Muscle Memory by @robotgort and @bobbimorseisbisexual - a Huntingbird!! Bones!! AU!! And also a collaboration between two of the most fabulous Huntingbird authors in the fandom - honestly, what more can you ask for?! This will make you laugh, and gasp, and wince, and keep you guessing at each new plot twist (and also screaming at your screen for Hunter and Bobbi to get their acts together and TALK ABOUT IT.) In short: it's completely and utterly amazing, and I cannot, cannot recommend it enough!!
You Belong Among the Wildflowers by @libbyweasley - a freaking incredible Scis & Spies Regency AU! I only just started reading, but I was hooked all the way through, especially on the way Libby writes all four characters' complex relationships (and their attraction, and their history!) Everything about it is just completely stunning, and I for one cannot WAIT for these beautiful idiots to figure out they all belong together.
Family Snapshot by @tomatobookworm - if it's family fluff you're after, especially Staticquake family fluff, look no further! This tremendously soft and utterly amazing fic follows a day in the lives of a pregnant Daisy and her husband Lincoln, and their not-so-little family of Inhumans, both adopted and biological. There's also shopping with Grandma May, lots of feels, lots of shippiness, and just AMAZINGNESS all the way through!!
Best Day Ever by @loved-the-stars-too-fondly - Jemma and Daisy want to adopt a pet, and make a very special trip to Wisconsin to do it. Also, whether he knows who he is or not, Jemma has an important question to ask Cal - and just, AHHHH, everything about this is utterly stunning! For starters, Aubrey's writing is FANTASTIC, and the scene she sets is absolutely beautiful, and so very bittersweet. I was actually misting up a little with happy tears towards the end of this - really, I cannot recommend this enough, to any Skimmons fan.
so why don't we go somewhere only we know by @loved-the-stars-too-fondly - more Skimmons (platonic this time, though), more hurt/comfort, and, yes, again, more absolutely INCREDIBLE writing. This one is canon compliant, following a shaken Jemma struggling to sleep after Maveth, and how Daisy finds a way to help her out. Incredibly sweet, tender and BEAUTIFULLY written, this one was an instant favourite the moment I read it!
Unspoken by @anxiouslynumbme - a birthday fic for yours truly, and, honestly, one of the most STUNNING Staticquake introspectives I've read. It follows Daisy and Lincoln in a beautifully tender missing moment in season 3, with them both realising their feelings, and just... AHHHHHHHH, everything about it is utterly incredible!! I cannot, cannot recommend this gem of a fic enough
the thing about water droplets and ruffled hair by @que-mint-tea - here's another fic that proves, once and for all, how good Kat's Dekesy is, because it managed to convert T to write some Dekesy smut. And, oh my GOSH, what Dekesy smut - so goshdarn angsty, but so FANTASTICALLY characterised and written that it leaves you more than a little breathless, and gaping at your screen. The first chapter initially left us on the most HORRIFIC cliffhanger, but then T fixed it, and it's just... this thing is really a whole new level of emotional writing, raw and gripping and intensely perfect for both of these characters. My haw still drops whenever I think of this thing, and how utterly AMAZING it was, so yeah. Fic rec!!!
beautiful stranger, there you are by @justanalto - I do believe I still owe Serena a long and very gushy comment on this thing, because, MAN, does it ever deserve that!! Pipsy and fake dating, with the most HILARIOUSLY incredible writing, plot and characterisation, and honestly just a giddy "askhdfkhsfh" whenever I think back to how much I enjoyed it. Yup, it was that good.
Jumping to conclusions by @eowima - a very special one, because it marks my love Océane's first venture into writing AoS fic! It's an AU of 1x06 (the Fitzsimmons episode of s1) where Fitz does actually jump out of the plane to save Jemma. Realisations of feelings, and some of the most genuinely FANTASTIC Fitz characterisation I've read in a while, follow - and, yup, I was shouting at my screen for them just to get together already. Amazing stuff, really!!
Look into your eyes and the sky's the limit by @eowima - okay, this. This. Another gift for me, and one that I will probably treasure forEVER, because it is just?? so?? utterly?? perfect?? Just for starters, the title is a Hamilton reference - and then the theme of Hamilton references continues into the fic itself, I'm delighted to say. There's also the most BEAUTIFUL, playful Skimmons friendship, and teasing, and then of course the bet about who can make out with their crush first... Staticquake & Fitzsimmons perfection. And all rendered in Océane's delightful, best-thing-ever-to-read writing!! I'm going into a giddy keyboard smash just THINKING about this, so yeah, cannot recommend it enough.
lullabies and clear blue skies by @springmagpies and @bobbimorseisbisexual - okay, I never thought I'd catch myself shipping FitzBobbi, let alone shipping it this hard, but... wow. Maggie and Al teamed up to completely blow me away, and MELT MY WHOLE ENTIRE HEART with the sheer cuteness of this!! It features Fitz, Bobbi and adopting two daughters, and it's just the most tender, beautiful development through that little family - I love it so, so much.
We made all the wrong choices by @browneyedgenius - the winner of the AoS Angst War 2020, how could I not include this one? It is such a well-deserved win, though, whoa - I was sobbing, full-on sobbing, at least twice while reading. It follows the season 5 team through the events of the time-loop, after they failed to save the world - and, oh my gosh, it ripped my heart right out of my chest, but beautifully so. Everything about this fic just hits so hard, and it's written so well - yeah, really a most AMAZINGLY deserved win, for an utterly SHATTERINGLY incredible fic.
I threw stones at the stars (but the whole sky fell) by @nazezdha321 - this is Z showing us all how to write a backstory for a minor character, and write it so well that everyone's hearts break all over again when she dies. This one is about Victoria Hand, and it builds a stirring and profound childhood for her, also making her rise through the ranks of SHIELD and just her entire character mean so much more. Really, fic-wise, this is goals, and I take my hat off to you, Z, 1000%, for writing it.
in which the universe is put together by @besidemethewholedamntime - Rebecca's emotional writing, particularly Fitzsimmons' emotions, is incomparable, and she proves it all over again in this fic. If follows Fitz and Jemma before, after and during the bloodwork, and I just... wow, honestly. The emotion!! And the characterisation!! Absolutely stunning, and honestly all I could wish for in a we-had-time fic.
Agents of SHIELD Season 8 by @egumal - THIS. This, this, this, oh my gosh - as fix-it fics go, this has to be the most spectacular one I have ever read. What it does is find a way - a potentially canon compliant way, too - to bring back Lincoln Campbell, and reunite Staticquake. Basically: just about as season 7 finishes, the Astro Ambassadors get an unexpected visitor from another timeline, who asks them to come help out against Hive. Case in point, Daisy meets her lost love again (... but he has no idea who she is) and also has to relive the Fallen Agent drama. It all gets even more complicated when Kora restores Lincoln's memories, and Daisy meets the full team Deke has assembled around him in the 33 years (for him) that they've been apart... in short, this is one of the most thorough, well-written and downright SHOCKING plot-twist-wise fics that you will ever read, and honestly, saying "I can't recommend it enough" is an understatement. This thing is thd BEST, plain and simple!
Black Roses aren't real (but you and I are) by @ohwriteiforgot - ahhhh, a fic that will always have an incredibly special place in my heart, because it introduced me to one of my best fandom friends. The main focus is on Clintasha, it's true, but it's also a crossover with AoS in the sense that Clint was adopted by Coulson and May. Also, Daisy is his little sister, and their bond is gold. Also - there's Staticquake!! And flower shops!! And rivals to friends to lovers!! All I'm going to say is, what more can you ask for?!
A book to shield my story by @maybebrilliant - Staticquake High School AU, ahhhhhhhh!! There are only two chapters out so far, but the way this is shaping up is making my DAY - with Daisy as the new girl who meets Lincoln and his group of friends, and, though her foster parents are absolutely shit, starts to find actual happiness in a school for the first time in her life. Also - THE REFERENCES. Guys. I'm crazy for those, and in this book, so are my favourite dorks, Daisy and Lincoln - and let me tell you, it's nothing short of the best thing ever.
This AoS Finale Gif Edit by @heysteverogers - AoS really has been the most INCREDIBLE journey through the years, but what's really made it special is the company - and that's summed up perfectly in this gorgeous gifset. Also, the graphics on this are just, ahhhh, stunning - I'm in awe, and I've spent very long periods of time just looking at this thing in a state of heart-eyes.
This AoS Finale Gif Edit by @jemannesimms - combining Auld Lang Syne and the final scenes of my favourite show was a raw emotional - but utterly brilliant experience - for me. It's just so absolutely beautiful, and perfectly suited to the team, and their goodbyes!! Breathtaking editing work here, too.
This Daisy as Peter Parker and May as Tony Stark moodboard by @agentsofcomedyandchaos - ahhhh, a crossover of two of my favourite fandoms!! And what a lovely one, too - the colour scheme, quotes, and just the whole FEEL of this is absolutely genius, and I am guilty of being inspired by way too many fic ideas by it. Stunning stuff!!
And... whoa, that was long, but I really do feel that we deserve a bit of a proper pat on the back after creating such magical content in such a messed up year. So that's the note I'm going to leave you with for 2020, my friends: hell-year or no, look at the absolute beauty we were still able to create!! We really are freaking amazing, guys.

Hello!! Hope you don't mind but I was wondering if I could request a prompt with FS + Deke? Like something with Fitzsimmons being protective grandparents or something like that and Deke + everyone else just being so shocked about it?? Ahh hope this is no trouble, I love your writing xD. Have a nice day!!!
@dragonrider415 asked: Hey! I love your stories! I was wondering if you could write a story about the team finding out about Deke? Thanks! And keep up the great work!!
Anon asked: Hey, I was just wondering if, when you have a chance, you could write something about Daisy finding out about the (possible) Fitzsimmons baby?
@queensimmons asked: Fitzsimmons + losing their shit when they get back to find their trashcan of a grandson hurt fluff angst bonus if there’s some sort or mention of deke + crushing on his great aunt i am living
Okay, so I ended up combining all these prompts because they all seemed to make sense together, but feel free to prompt me again if you’d like to see something else! (Also, it turned out more fluffy with a bit of angst, so I hope that’s okay! Also also, sorry for the random pov change in the middle of the fic, but that scene just felt more natural being in Fitz’s pov.)
Set post 5x17
(Ao3)
-
As Daisy, Coulson, Mack, and May addressed Jemma, Fitz, andElena about the stunt they pulled by leaving the Lighthouse without clearanceas soon as they’d returned to the base and proved to be unharmed, Jemma feltproperly reprimanded. She did truly feel bad about having to trick Mack, and togo against Daisy’s orders, and, to boot, their actions at the HYDRA base mayhave simply contributed further to the planet’s ultimate destruction ratherthan stopping it, so she took it all without comment, simply nodding along.
“And drinking acid,”Coulson added then, shaking his head at Jemma and planting his hands on hiships. “What were you thinking,Simmons?”
“Technically, I didn’t drink the acid,” Jemma couldn’t helpbut point out, “that was sort of the point.” Her voice grew quieter andquieter, however, when Coulson leveled an unamused look at her.
“And then taking on a HYDRA base on your own,” Mack put in,though his disappointment seemed to be directed more toward Elena than Jemma orFitz. “What were you thinking?”
Elena opened her mouth, no doubt to shoot something back athim about thinking that she was at least doing something, but before she could get a word out, a cry sounded fromthe other side of the Lighthouse’s control center.
“Hey! You guys are back!”
Jemma felt a wave of relief at the sound of Deke’s voice, aswell a bit of excitement at seeing him again – when they’d nearly died inEngland (several times, truthfully), she’d been afraid that she’d never get thechance to see their grandson again.
As Deke climbed the steps to join them, she turned to greethim, but froze automatically when her gaze landed on the sling encasing hisright arm. Her eyebrows darted up her forehead, and she asked worriedly, “Whathappened?” Turning back to the others, she said, almost accusatorily in her rapidlygrowing concern for Deke, “You didn’t mention that Deke got hurt while we weregone.”
“Um…sorry?” Daisy offered, seeming bewildered by herreaction – no doubt, she was viewing it as an overreaction.
Fitz stepped forward then, giving Deke a bit of a look as hequestioned, “Did you do something else dumb?” However, even as he said thewords, he was obviously inspecting Deke, undoubtedly looking for a cast or abandage, something to indicate where his injury was.
“No, no, I’m fine!” Deke told them quickly, shaking hishead.
“Actually,” Daisy said suddenly, seemingly taking theopportunity to bring home just how bad of a decision it was for them to leave, getting one last reprimand in, “he needed surgery, and Simmons wasn’t here toperform it, so Mack and Piper did.”
Jemma whirled to face her, eyes wide as she demanded, “What?” She couldn’t help the slightlyshrill tone to her voice as she reminded Daisy, “Neither of them is a doctor! Anything could’ve gone wrong! What wereyou thinking?” She directed the last bit at Mack, unable to wrap her mindaround the idea of an engineer and an agent that had said herself that she didn’t“do science” performing an operation on her grandson.
Daisy crossed her arms over her chest, replying, “Well, wehad to make do with what we had since you weren’t here.” However, when Jemmafelt a great surge of guilt that without a doubt was showing on her face, Daisyfrowned a bit, her arms loosening and ultimately dropping to her sides.
Turning to Deke, Jemma apologized softly, “Oh Deke, I’m so sorry.”
Fitz clapped a hand on his uninjured shoulder, asking lowly,“You sure you’re okay? What’d you do to need surgery anyway?”
Deke let out a breath in a huff, narrowing his eyes as heshot back, “Why do you think it’s something that I did?” When Fitz simply gave him a look in response, he grumbledunder his breath, “Fine, I got shot.” Then, lowering his voice even further, headded, “By not listening to Daisy.”
Jemma couldn’t help the gasp that she let out at that, clapping a hand over her mouth as she imagined it, imagined Deke getting shot, bleeding and in pain and needing someone to be there to help him, and shewas gone; she hadn’t been there.Stepping closer to Deke, she removed her hand from her mouth, instead cuppinghis cheek. “I’m so sorry that I wasn’t here, Deke. Are you sure you’realright?”
He sighed, gently pushing away their hands before taking astep back and promising, “Guys, I’m not on my deathbed or something. I’malright, okay?”
“Okay,” Daisy broke in suddenly, “what is going on?”
At the same time, both Jemma and Fitz turned to find therest of the team (save for a smirking Elena, who was clearly trying her best tohide it – and failing, given the strange look that Mack was shooting at her),staring at them in blank shock and utter confusion. Well, except for May, whofor some reason didn’t appear anywhere near as taken aback as the others. But,Jemma wouldn’t be surprised if she’d somehow figured it out before then; it wasMay, after all, and she just seemedto know everything about everyone without really trying.
They shared a look, but when Fitz shrugged, Jemma nodded, sohe thumbed over his shoulder at Deke and explained plainly, “Meet the grandson.Unfortunately.” When Jemma then smacked his arm, glaring up at him pointedly,he rolled his eyes and added in a mutter, “Just kidding.”
A hush fell over the room in the wake of his revelation, thenCoulson blinked, shaking his head as he asked slowly, “Deke is your…”
“Grandson,” Jemma finished for him, nodding, “yes.” She letout a sigh, then went on, “That’s why I feel so horrible about not being here…I, of course, would feel awful about not being here to help anyone, but Dekeespecially…”
She then turned back to Deke once more, but he held up hisone good hand quickly to put a stop to it before she could begin, insisting,“You don’t need to keep apologizing; I’m okay.”
Out of nowhere, Daisy blurted out, “Are you kidding me?”Startled, Jemma glanced back at Daisy, finding her with her mouth hanging open, her eyebrows high on her forehead. “There’s just no way…” She shook her head, obviously still stunned.
“I’m with Daisy,” Mack put in, shaking his head, “Are youguys sure?”
Before either Jemma or Fitz could say anything in response,Deke groaned loudly and said, “Yes, we’re sure! God, it’s not the most unbelievable thing, you know.”
Quickly, Jemma reached out to place a comforting hand onDeke’s arm, assuring him, “It’s just a lot to take in, that’s all. It’s notevery day that something like this happens, after all. Everyone will get usedto it eventually, I’m sure of it.”
When all they got in response was a few blank stares, Fitzshrugged widely and said, “Don’t look at me; I’m not used to it either.”
A moment of silence passed, then Coulson cleared his throat.“Well, as…interesting as this all is…”Letting his sentence trail off, he met May’s eyes and nodded to the hallwayoutside the control room. She nodded in understanding, and the two disappeared,no doubt to speak about something in private.
Once they left the room, Daisy appeared to take that as acue to the rest of them that the group could break up, startling Jemma bygrasping her arm and gently tugging her away from the others. Curious as towhat it was that Daisy wanted but felt that she couldn’t say in front of the restof the team, Jemma went with her.
-
Fitz watched as Daisy tugged Jemma away the rest of them, and the two began speaking in lowered voices, but it didn’t seem as thoughDaisy was still upset with Jemma for their escape from the Lighthouse, nor didit seem as though that was the topic of their conversation, much to his relief. After all, Jemma didn’t deserve to be on the receiving end of any of Daisy’s misplacedanger with him.
“Ugh,” Mack saidsuddenly, drawing Fitz’s attention away from Jemma and instead to him, findingthat he was pulling a disgusted expression, “man, this just makes all the crapyou said while on those pain meds even worse.”
“What things?” Elena asked curiously before Fitz could.
“Ah – that’s not really important,” Deke interruptedquickly, his eyes growing wide as he held up his free hand, laughing nervously.“Right, Mack? Right?”
Mack crossed his arms over his chest, raising an eyebrowpointedly and giving Deke an unimpressed look. Then, he turned back to Fitz andElena, explaining, “Spaceman here wants to kiss Daisy; he described it to meand Piper in excruciating detailwhile he was doped up on his meds.”
At the same time, Deke groaned in embarrassment, and bothFitz and Elena made similarly disgusted faces. Fitz glanced sharply at Deke, shaking his head as he told him in no uncertain terms, “Now that’s just gross.”
“What? Why?” Deke demanded, narrowing his eyes in clearinsult, suddenly not seeming so upset about Mack sharing his little secret withthem.
It was Mack that replied, “What, with how close Simmons andDaisy are? That’s like wanting to kiss your great aunt, man.” He gave a bit ofa shudder at the prospect, adding distantly, “Like wanting to kiss my greataunt Harriet, false teeth, butterscotch candies, and all.”
“Now, come on,” Deke protested, planting his one hand on hiswaist, “it’s completely different!”
But, Fitz held up his own hand then, hopefully putting anend to all of this Deke and Daisy nonsense before it could go any further. “No,just…just stop that, will you? It’s too weird.”
Deke scowled, muttering under his breath, “Says thethirty-year-old guy with an adult grandson.” Instead of offering a verbalreply, Fitz simply pointed at Deke, narrowing his eyes at the dig, but clearlyDeke wasn’t intimidated, as he just shrugged unapologetically in response. “Sorry,Bobo.”
There was a beat, then Mack repeated in disbelief, “Bobo?”
-
When Daisy was satisfied that they were out of earshot ofthe others, she released Jemma’s arm, immediately pressing, “So…how long haveyou known about this?” Her eyebrows were high on her forehead, and she was clearlystill shocked about all of it. “Have you known since we were in the future? And,like, what does this even mean?”
“Not since we were in the future, no,” Jemma answered, pausing for a moment before continuing delicately, trying to avoid anyupsetting topics, “Deke told me a handful of days ago, when he thought that I’dneed to hear it the most.” Smiling wryly, she added, “And, well, I think you know what this means, Daisy.”
Daisy’s eyes grew wide before darting down to briefly glanceat Jemma’s midsection. She stepped closer, then asked in a whisper, “Are you…?”
It took Jemma a moment to understand what she was implying, but when she did, she blinked in surprise before quickly replying, “No! Atleast…well, not that I know of, no.”
She nodded a bit at that, then frowned and questioned,“Wait, so…is it his mom or his dad? I mean, he told me about his father, and hedidn’t really sound…Fitzsimmons-y,but…then neither is Deke, so…”
Shaking her head in the negative, Jemma confirmed, “No, it’shis mother – our daughter.” She smiled softly then, once more thinking about theirdaughter who had loved them, who had loved her father so much, the mother that Deke spoke so fondly of.
Giving a short laugh, Daisy shook her own head and admitted,“Wow, I…I can’t believe this. You’re going to have a daughter; it’s crazy.”
“No, it’s not.”
They both turned in surprise then, finding May, who wasclearly finished with her conversation with Coulson and had been passing bythem when she’d stopped to correct Daisy.
Daisy tilted her head in consideration for a moment, pursingher lips. “Okay, yeah, May’s right. It’s totally believable. But…Deke…”
Already anticipating what would likely follow that, Jemmainsisted, “Really, he’s sweet and smart, and yes, he’s a bit…rough around theedges,” she pointedly ignored the scoff that May gave then under her breath, continuing, “but that’s just due to the future that he was raised in!”
She half-expected Daisy to have some other comeback aboutDeke waiting, but she didn’t reply for a long moment, clearly still letting itall soak in. When she did finally speak, it was to say quietly, “I’m sorry,Jemma, for…you know, trying to make you feel guilty about not being here. Ididn’t realize how much it would affect you.”
Jemma, in turn, apologized, “And I’m sorry for going behindyour back and not listening to your orders, Daisy. I still think that it wasthe right thing to do, but I can admit that we probably went about it the wrongway.”
With a little smile, Daisy teased, “Yeah, maybe I can see the family resemblance afterall; Deke thought he was doing the right thing too when he refused to listen tome.” Laughing quietly at that, Jemma gave a little roll of her eyes. Shenoticed Daisy take a half-step closer, then hesitate, before she abruptlypulled Jemma into hug, murmuring, “Congratulations. You know, for the daughter– whenever it is that she’s going to exist.”
Even as she returned the embrace, Jemma confessed lowly,“The congratulations may be a bit premature, Daisy; depending on when we break theloop and when our daughter was conceived, she may never exist in thistimeline.”
Daisy pulled back just as suddenly as she’d initiated thehug, frowning worriedly as she caught Jemma’s eye. However, it was May oncemore that spoke up then to say, “Doesn’t matter; whenever or whoever yourchildren are born, Simmons, they’ll be just as loved.”
Jemma gave May a warm, grateful smile. “Yes, I think so too.Thank you, May.”
“Does…Deke know about this?” Daisy asked carefully, glancingover her shoulder at where he was talking with Fitz, Mack, Elena, and nowCoulson.
“We haven’t talked about it, no,” Jemma replied with a quietsigh, looking toward her grandson as well and feeling another rush of guilt, “andI’m not sure if he’s come to that conclusion himself yet.”
They were silent a moment, concerned about the prospect ofDeke realizing that if they were successful in stopping the end of the world, his mother may never be born and how it might affect him. After a moment, though, Daisy nodded in understanding, then broke the silence to say, “Well, then let’s break this loop and save the planet already – the sooner we do, thesooner your guys can get busy on making some super cute, super smart babies forme to play with.”
Glancing back at Daisy to find her with a small smile on herlips, Jemma returned it with one of her own, giving a little laugh as sheagreed, “Sounds like a plan.”

I know you don't write much kid fic, but thought I could ask... how about fitzsimmons adopt/foster an older child, and they ask why they never had bio children, and on top of all the reasons you want, trans Fitz comes out to them? Thank you either way!
AN ~ Thanks for the prompt! Sorry about the wait. I hope you like it! I wasn’t sure what your parameters for ‘older child’ were but Elliot is around 8yo as I have most experience with kids around that age. Hope you don’t mind.
Rshps: Fitz & OC (adopted daughter, Elliot). FitzSimmons.Rated T for “the talk”-style discussion of genitalia - though there’s also parent-child & adoption-related bonding, it’s not all about how trans Fitz is.Content warning for some mild transphobia in the discussion process (which is shortly resolved/corrected).
Elliot is a recent addition to the FitzSimmons family, and she’s curious about why she ended up with this family in particular.
Read on AO3 (~1600wd).
A Different Kind of Family
“So, how do you like your new room?” Fitz asks, leaning on the doorframe as he watches Elliot work. She’s tinkering with a miniature solar power kit from a previous family, and he tries not to smile at the flicker of bespoke satisfaction that brushes through his heart. He doesn’t want to smother her, and though he and Jemma have done their best to give her space the last few days, and let her settle in, it is getting harder and harder by the second. All he wants to do is scoop her up in his arms and run around a non-existent meadow, he feels so happy to finally have her after years of waiting and paperwork and rejection. She feels like a miracle, and that’s a lot for a young child in a new place.
Still, she smiles at him. “It’s okay,” she promises. “It’s very nice. Just different.”
“Well, that’s good,” Fitz agrees. “Sorry it’s so bare. Your- Jemma and I were hoping to take you out on the weekend so you can choose some things for it.”
“Really?” Elliot looks up. Her eyes run around the plain walls, the empty pin-up board, the clean but bland Ikea furniture. “Like what?”
“Whatever you want – within reason,” Fitz promises. “Bedsheets, books, art… We’re not allowed to paint the walls, but we can put stuff all over them, if you like. We really want you to feel at home here. I mean- sorry, I know you must hear that a lot, but um- ”
“Can I really pick whatever I want?” Elliot blurts, and cuts off Fitz’s mumbling. “At your shops, do they have bed-sheets with astronauts on them? Or tigers? Or birds? I had tigers at one of my old houses.”
“Sure, there are lots of different ones,” Fitz replied, finding himself mimicking Elliot’s broad grin. “I saw some with a whole jungle on it the other day.”Elliot’s eyes light up. “Did you get it?!”
“No.” Fitz pouts. “They don’t make it for beds with two people.”
“That’s sad. Adults get so much boring stuff.”
“I know!” Fitz laughs as Elliot harrumphs at the foolishness of adults. He actually doesn’t mind not having jungle sheets – he doesn’t even mind Jemma’s slightly more old-fashioned taste in décor – but her little eight-year-old face is so serious, scowling in frustration at the world because of the indignity of boring sheets. He’s about to leave her as she contemplates returning to her very much less boring solar power activity, when the expression changes. She looks up again and tilts her head, peering curiously as if studying Fitz.
“Are you really a scientist?” she asks.
“Yes.” Something about it sounds like an invitation, so Fitz moves into the room. When Elliot shuffles her work aside, giving him some space beside her on the carpet, he takes a seat. “Jemma is too, but a different kind.”
“What kinds?”
“I’m an engineer,” Fitz explains. “I build things. My favourite thing I built was an aeroplane. A really special aeroplane. Jemma is a biochemist. That’s a bit harder to explain, but um – she learns things about animals and plants, like why they glow in the dark, and then she can use that to figure out how to make other stuff glow in the dark. She’s very clever.”
“Cool.” Elliot nods thoughtfully. Then asks: “Why did you wanna adopt me?”
To Fitz, it feels like a wild swing in the conversation, like he’s been kicked into the deep end of a pool. From tinkering with circuitry to the depth and breath of application after application; rejection after rejection – some more personal than others; after learning more of the shit Daisy had gone through in the foster system, half of which he hoped had never come anywhere near Elliot’s path. There’s a lot of emotion there, and years of gritty material, and defensiveness, and darkness, but to Elliot it is simply next on her list of things I’m curious about. Suddenly he wonders if he’s standing in his mother’s shoes; one minute talking about muffins and the next, nuclear fission power; one minute picking out a new set of shoes for school and the next, trying to explain where his father has gone and why. Muddling through it as best he can – and there seems to be a lot of that, of muddling, these days – he takes a deep breath and he asks:
“What do you mean? Why did we want to adopt someone or why did we get matched with you, specifically?”
Elliot shrugs. “Why didn’t you have kids? Most mums and dads have their own kids. We usually only go to people who can’t have kids, like two mums or two dads, or people who already have born kids. Why did you want me and not your own kids?”
“Do you ask a lot of your mums and dads this question?” Fitz wonders.
“No,” Elliot says. “But none of them were my forever home. You’re special.”
“Oh, okay. No pressure then.” Fitz laughs a little, but not for the first time, is struck by Elliot’s startling honesty. It’s only fair, then, he figures, to try and be honest back.
“There’s lots of reasons,” he explains. “One of them is that we wanted to be helpful. There’s lots of kids all around the world just like you, who don’t have a mum or a dad, or don’t know them. We even have an adult friend who went through the same thing when she was little, and it still makes her really sad sometimes.”
“Even though she’s big now?”
“Sure,” Fitz insists. “Even adults need families. But me and Jemma, we thought, there’s all these people we could help by being their new mum and dad. Instead of having our own kids, why not help out some who are already born and make sure they have a good life? We had to ask a lot of people to help us find you, but then somebody said, ‘here’s Elliot! It seems like you three would really get along,’ and Jemma and I said, ‘Yes! She seems fantastic! Please send her a-s-a-p.’ And here you are.”
“What’s the other reasons?” Elliot prods, sparing barely a moment to take in all that he’s just said. “You said there were lots.”
“Okay, well, uh,” Fitz shifts in his seat. Suddenly he can feel the edge of her bed frame pressing against his shoulder blades with an uncomfortable intensity. Still, he’s promised to be honest and he intends to follow through. “Elliot, how much do you know about how babies get made?”
“There’s a mummy and a daddy and they give each other a special hug and then the mummy has a baby,” Elliot says, and shrugs. “I think that’s too easy, but people don’t want to tell me more because I’m a kid. I looked up some more stuff on the Internet one time, but it was really confusing. Then I heard some of the big kids talking about it today. ‘Boys have penises, girls have vaginas.’ They had to say it over and over again. The whole class got kept in at lunch ‘cause they wouldn’t stop laughing. Do you need a penis and a vagina to have a baby?”
“Um. Well, kind of, yeah,” Fitz agrees, still a little baffled by her forwardness – and not to mention, put off by the talk at the best of times.
“Well, don’t you have one?”
“What?”
“You’re a boy. You must have a penis. Jemma’s a girl, she must have a vagina. Does it not work properly or something? Why don’t you fix it?”
“Actually,” Fitz corrects – as gently as he can, although he can already imagine the Strongly Worded Letter Jemma is considering writing to the school. “That’s not always true. Sometimes what people are on the inside doesn’t match what they look like on the outside. Some girls have penises. Some boys have vaginas. When I was little, I used to look a lot like you, so people thought I was a girl, but actually I’m a boy. Except that I can’t give Jemma the same kind of special hug that makes babies.”
For a long moment, Elliot’s face is screwed up in thought.
“Okay,” she says, eventually. “But why would they teach me something wrong at school then? Is Miss Waters a bad teacher?”
Fitz smiles sadly at her. There’s many a sting that’s been levelled at him in his life, it’s one of the reasons he tends to keep this side of himself a secret from people outside a very exclusive circle of trust. But he also knows how damaging it can be to lose trust, especially for Elliot, and he doesn’t want to curse it prematurely.
“There’s lots of reasons,” he simplifies, “but I’m sure Miss Waters is an excellent teacher, and if she’s saying something wrong it’s probably not on purpose. I also think you should listen to the whole lesson before you decide if it’s good or bad – not just what the big kids were laughing about at lunch. Okay?”
“Okay.” Elliot pouts, and though somewhat consoled, Fitz can see there’s still something on her mind. He bumps her shoulder lightly.
“And, hey, Jemma and I are very smart, so if you think you’re teacher’s wrong about something, you can always come and tell us, and ask questions okay? No matter what it is.”
“Okay.” She seems to settle a little more at this – as if the world is no longer as complicated as, for a second there, it had seemed – and Fitz smiles.
“Now,” he begins afresh, “what did you actually learn in your class today?”

Never stop what you're doing! I don't care if your predictions come true or not. I'm always excited to read them & when you're right, but if canon serves us something different, then I don't think people can blame awesome meta writers like you for raising the bar too high. I also love how you promote "Let the writers tell their story" before complaining. Would I have like something less open ended for FS? Sure! Was it an amazing episode nonetheless: Hells yes! Summary: Love what you do! ❤️❤️
@agent-bash said:  You are amazing. Screw that other anon and everything they said. You’re amazing. Everything you do for this fandom goes above and beyond truly. Your theories/meta, the answers to the asks you get, how reassuring you are to those who come to you panicked. It’s incredible! You almost always preface or close everything with the fact that it’s only a theory based on your interpretation of the show and articles anyone who reads them for absolute need to read a little closer. Thank you for all you do!
Anonymous said:  Hope you’re okay after that episode. Thanks for everything you do. I guess a lot of us are just frustrated with the show right now. I have to be honest I still haven’t decided if I’m going to watch next season. It wasn’t only the fans who were misled, it was the tv writers too. If you back to all the interviews after the LMD pod ended almost all the writers asked about a Fitzsimmons engagement or wedding. They continued to ask about it until right before the finale, they clearly thoughtsome reporters thought something was up, or going to happen as well. They paid off the whole conversation about Fitz’s father, so a lot of people they would pay off the marriage talk as well. I guess we were wrong.
@perthshire-and-pemberley said:  Myself and many others appreciate what you do for the fandom!!! ❤️ That being said.. good luck with all the asks in the next few days!!!
Anonymous said:  I’m sorry that an anonymous person was rude and unjust to you. Internet is full of such weird reactions, nothing new, but it can hurt. One thing is certain - hundreds of people read you and appreciate you, so, thank you for being her for us:)
Anonymous said:  Hi, I just wanted to say you shouldn’t listen to what that anon said. You’re an amazing part of the fandom and a lot of us are so grateful for all you do. This fandom wouldn’t be the same without you.
@youdovethroughaholeintheuniverse   said: Hi! Just wanted to offer some words of thanks and encouragement! I saw that anon who said you should stop predicting because you’re theories sometimes don’t fall through, but that’s ridiculous. They’re theories! That’s the whole point! We’re all just trying to figure out and predict what’s going to happen. What you say is encouraging and positive and informative and amazing. The fandom appreciates you so much and loves all of your metas. Keep on theorizing and DFTBA (Don’t Forget To Be Awesome)!
Anonymous said:  Hello! i just wanna say that you’re amazing and personally i really admire you for your capacity of deduction, you’re dedicating a lot of your time to us, you deserve all the LOVE. i am so grateful with all you do and thank you for another season, we’re here with you for another one.
@0hcicero  said:Hey my favourite Science fiction Sherlock investigating fandom queen, I just wanted to pop by your inbox and tell you that A) I will seriously punch that anon in the dick if you want me to, and B) you are loved, all that you do is valued and appreciated, and that this fandom adores you for all of the time and dedication you give us. You’re always the soul of circumspection, and a true balm to so many disappointments. You are wonderful, you are loved, and you didn’t deserve what that anon said.
@ultimate-fangurl said: Hey I saw your were getting some mean comments and just wanted to let you know that so many of us really really appreciate what you do :) this fandom just wouldn’t be the same without you and I know how much hard work you must put into it. You are always so kind, polite and helpful plus a real genius and writing metas and making predictions (even if they’re not always 100%, they’re still AMAZING predictions!) so thank you so much! ps I have a million questions but I’ll let you catch your breath!
said  :Don’t listen to that anon! You do a great job! You’re kind and smart and have lots of geat theories. I always like reading what you write. Thank you for everything you do for the fandom!
Anonymous said:  Hi I disagree with that Anon. Your theories gave me hope when I had none for this show. And the thing is- they are theories! No one had to come read but we all wanted to. It’s no ones personal responsibility for getting the fandom to become entitled? Please know that your work provides lots of happiness and is very appreciated.
Have to say I am completely and utterly overwhelmed by the response guys.   I was shocked when I logged on this morning.   Thank you everyone so much for your messages and comments.  And @ughfitz for that post.  You guys have me in tears and I am truly touched right now.  I’ve taken my breath and am ready to get back to ‘work’.

Hello Agent85!! ^^ Just saw the ep... That arc is way too long... and it makes less and less sense. I really can't stand it anymore! The framework is supposed to be a copy of our world and for some reason now the laws of physics and basic biology don't apply anymore ? Fitz is a scientist! how the hell does aida's survival make any sense to him!? (and that stupid nazi youth hair...) Then, where is Jemma's smartness? and what is she doing? This all world is fake and she knows it! (1)
(2) so why would she think even for a second that the machine would be in this fake world ? I didn't buy it at all. And still no Fitzsimmons... all the aidaxfitz's PDA are beyond disgusting. urgh! And finally in what universe did someone find it a good idea to give Ward any kind of redemption arc? :/ Sorry it's not very joyful but I'm so tired of it all... Anyway thanks Jane! You're amazing! and only your light cheer me up lately.
Hey there!
This arc is wearing me out, too. Not to say that there aren’t things I like about it, but I just love Fitz so much and it’s really hard for me to see him like this. I know they’re doing it for plot reasons, but they drew a lot of things out during season 3 that I did not like very much, either.
But I had the opposite reaction to this last episode! Everything makes a lot MORE sense to me now. We know what AIDA’s goal is, and again, I just cannot believe that I missed what this is all about: the parameters. It’s SO OBVIOUS, looking back, since there was so much set up for it. Here I was, thinking that AIDA would just want to stay in her little dictatorship forever, when it’s clear that she has even greater ambitions. After all, what dictator wants to be limited as to whom they can murder?
Regarding the things that don’t make sense, namely AIDA’s fall: as I’ve said before, I believe that’s intentional. If they wanted to fudge it, it would have been two or three stories. She was FIFTY stories up, maybe more. You don’t need to know anything about medicine to know she would go splat. It’s obvious.
And, as we know, when people die in the Framework, they die in real life. It’s a common sci-fi trope that I happen to love immensely. Usually, the idea is that since the person believes that they’re dying, and people are afraid of dying, they basically get scared to death. Or, you know, their body just gets tricked into reacting the way it would react if the scenario were real. But AIDA is not real, so there is no real body to react to her scenario. Only an android would be able to survive that fall.
But beyond that, this just shows how much control she has over her world. She cannot only survive the fall, but she has also managed to BRAINWASH everyone around her so much that they don’t realize what she’s just done. But of course, they don’t notice a LOT of things she’s done, like spend all her resources on a Real Girl Machine that benefits Hydra . . . how, exactly?
I know I keep saying they were BRAINWASHED, and I am going to keep saying it in all caps until people get it. There is an extreme degree of conditioning going on here meant to override morals, character traits, and anything that would get in AIDA’s way.
And how perfect is it that after this ridiculous fall, Bakshi arrives on the scene asking what story he should tell, only to be lied to by Fitz. Think about it: AIDA is lying about the nature of reality to Fitz, who lies to Bakshi, who lies to everyone. AIDA is peddling deception compounded on deception. They’re all different lies, of course, and all of the liars know that they are lying, but they are all designed to give AIDA everything she wants. So how, may I ask, can anyone find the truth if they are blinded to basic laws of decency? To basic laws of the natural world?
If Fitz, a genius engineer, can’t tell that AIDA is lying to him about his own area of expertise, how can he tell that she’s lying to him about everything else?
How can he recognize basic truths if he can’t recognize Jemma’s face?
So, AIDA’s impossible fall reemphasizes two important truths: AIDA is not a person, and AIDA has complete control. These were things we already knew, but now we see those truths working in a context, so we see just how dangerous they she truly is.
Another thing it does is give Jemma a foot in the door when she finally has the chance to confront Fitz on the nature of his reality. She now can appeal to him emotionally and scientifically. Daisy only had an emotional argument, and we can see that AIDA has used Papa Fitz to condition Fitz to reject emotion. But needed his scientific mind, so that remains intact. The fact that Jemma will be able to use this scientific argument, in addition to the fact that her emotional argument will be infinitely stronger because of their bond, makes me very optimistic that Jemma will be able to chip away at the walls Fitz has been programmed to put up.
But of course, there’s the caveat that they’ve set up perfect scenarios like this before and completely trashed them. We were all convinced that the necklace and Will’s stupid science background were clues to all kinds of things, but it just ended up being lazy writing. In this case, however, it seems a lot more deliberate, and I’m honestly hoping they’ve learned from their mistakes. They have to know how stupid that 3A was.
As for Jemma’s smarts, this is another plot reasons thing. I’ll be honest, I didn’t think that hard about it while I was watching, too blinded by the sunshine of Trip, so that didn’t seem that stupid to me. Jemma doesn’t just have to figure out what the solution is; she has to guide us viewers to the conclusion in an entertaining way. And revealing it the way she did was way more dramatic. It’s a trope that’s been done a thousand times because so many people love it.
Still, I was upset, like you are, about the lack of FitzSimmons. Jemma should have tried to get to him during this episode, even if nobody would let her. They haven’t been together in this arc, but they have been talking about each other. (Which, by the way, is basically the only prediction I’ve gotten right so far.) We’ve gotten Jemma’s confession of love to Ward, which is HUGE.
Jemma didn’t outright tell Fitz she was ready to have a relationship; she said they were wasting time by not being in a relationship. She didn’t tell LMD Fitz that she wanted to marry Fitz; she only said she would give Fitz the answer. She’s now comfortable with telling Fitz she loves him, but she doesn’t talk about it to other people, especially her enemies. And yet, she basically screamed it at Ward! I can’t express how important that is!
We have never seen Jemma be that blunt about her feelings before. Never.
With Fitz, we’re seeing something very different—how not to love somebody. Fitz and AIDA’s relationship is supposed to be repulsive. We are supposed to think that it’s wrong. After all, AIDA and Agnes, who share a face, are romantically linked to Fitz and Radcliffe, who have a father/son relationship. So, it’s not only evil and abusive—it’s a little incestuous. They are hitting all the bases here. It’s a stark contrast to the loving partnership of equals that sacrifices everything to save the world. In fact, a starker contrast could not exist, unless Jemma was romantically linked to a moron who told her to give up all the time. ;)
But really, if this doesn’t convince you that FitzSimmons is the end all be all, nothing will.
As for Ward, I’m going to say the same thing I said about LMD Fitz: you can’t blame someone for something someone else did, just because that person has the same face. You can’t credit them, either. Framework Ward does nothing to redeem the real Grant Ward, because the real Grant Ward is dead. In fact, he died on an alien planet while trying to bring Hive into the world, right after he had Jemma tortured. He is, without a doubt, the absolute worst. Nothing that’s happening now can change that.
In fact, if anything, it adds to his condemnation by showing just how good Ward could have been. Ward was a traitor, yes, but what if he betrayed evil instead of good? What if he actually loved Skye more than he wanted to survive?
There was a time when we were hoping that Ward’s love for Skye would change him into something better, and now we’ve seen it happen.
Framework Ward and Real Ward are a lot like FitzSimmons and Fitz x AIDA, actually. We see how good it could be, and we see how bad it can get. I find that incredibly interesting. I love all of the philosophical aspects of this arc.
So, I know that this arc has been hard, but hopefully that clarifies things a little. I’m hoping that we’ve reached the very bottom, and it’s all uphill from here. After all, this is the point where Jemma HAS to go after Fitz, at all costs, for plot reasons. I’m really hoping that we will start to get our reward as early as next Tuesday.
All we can hope is that they don’t mess it up!
So, thank you so much for your kind words! I hope I was able to cheer you up a bit.

Hey! I just finished Side By Side and I absolutely loved it! Thank you for writing it, I loved the HDM trilogy so daemon!fitzsimmons was a dream come true. I do have a question about your au, if you don't mind. I wondered what would have happened in "FZZT" in your AU? Did any of that happen in your universe? If so, how did it work? If Jemma jumped, did Caedmon fall too? Or was there some struggle/pull of their bond? It was just a question that came to me after reading and I'm curious, haha :)
aw what a sweet thing to say, buddy, thank you so much!! I had so much fun getting lost in Side By Side (I loved HDM too!), and it makes me so happy to hear when other people enjoyed it. :-)
FZZT in this universe is actually still a huge turning point for FitzSimmons, as it was in canon. it mostly happens the same - virus contraction, Fitz & Sarama breaking quarantine, Jemma & Fitz fighting as they work desperately to find a cure that they aren’t sure is coming, etc. although one different (well, new?) thing really does break my heart is something that happens right after Jemma knocks Fitz out with the fire extinguisher.
Jemma and Caedmon decide together to knock Fitz out - they don’t need to say anything, they look at each other behind his and Sarama’s backs and they know. it’s time.
(they don’t need to knock out Sarama, of course - she’s too small to be a hindrance to their plan. which, let me tell you, she does not like. it feeds into her own arc through current events, her self confidence issues.)
Caedmon can’t say goodbye to her - he just doesn’t know how - so he presses their noses together at the edge of the table just as Jemma runs for the door release. Sarama’s screams haunt both their dreams for weeks. once the door is closed and Jemma has the loading dock going, she turns back to her daemon. he asks if he can stay up here with them and, blinking back tears, she nods - snapping their bond might kill them faster, actually, and be less painful than crashing into the ocean at terminal velocity.
Jemma presses their foreheads together to say goodbye, scrunching her hands into his mane, and then quickly turns to step to the edge of the loading bay. by this point, Fitz has stood up again, and the first thing he sees is Caedmon sitting on his haunches by the glass doors, just watching Fitz - and Fitz realizes exactly what this means. he goes berserk, throwing himself against the doors. Caedmon, unable to see the moving mouse from where he is until the doors open, doesn’t know and can’t hear why Fitz is screaming - he assumes he just doesn’t want them to die (of course he doesn’t). Jemma turns to look at Fitz and their eyes meet just as the doors open and as the wind whooshes her away.
Fitz lunges for the parachutes and grabs one, but not for himself - he forces it onto Caedmon, pushing the lion bodily towards the end of the loading dock and just barely managing to get his legs through the arm holes. these parachutes aren’t made for lions, even small ones, but it’s better than nothing. Caedmon, for the record, is letting him do all of this - if he were resisting, Fitz wouldn’t be able to do it, lol. but Caedmon saw the mice heal, too, and so he lets Fitz put on the parachute and shove him off the plane - nearly falling over himself but stumbling back just in time. Fitz sprints to the parachutes again, and then trips when Sarama screams for him to come get her - and that’s when Ward finally arrives, tucking his daemon’s metal container into his pocket, grabbing the parachute from Fitz, and leaping out of the plane to save Jemma (and yank the parachute string on Caedmon on his way down).
in this universe, this event instigates the chasm between FitzSimmons that we don’t see until season 2 in canon - Fitz and Sarama are so bloody angry at Jemma and Caedmon for breaking their promise, for leaving them, for sacrificing themselves, for not believing that they could fix it together.
it takes them all a long time to heal that rift.
I hope that answers your question satisfactorily! I know a lot about the canon timeline of events, lmao. :-)

Hello Jane! :)
(2) good storytelling ? There is no sense of balance in the story. (s2) To appreciate the ups and downs, you actually have to have both! like a roller coaster! This year its a endless downhill. And worse, the story is more and more driven (progresses) by action and plot twist and mostly for shock value... its the level 0 of storytelling and sense of rhythm. All that bring deus ex machina and plot holes and adding bullshit storylines like love triangle doesn't help (roboMay, Aida) (s3 flaws).
(3) Action and twist must serve the story and not leading it, it’s nonsense. Most of the writers in Ao3 like you, understand and deal better with all those basics writing principles. WTH? As for the flaws of s4 itself, they wanted to deal with very serious themes and used harsh imageries to do it, why not? but not only they were only used as plot device, but they were also mistreated and not resolved in any way. And worse, they don't acknowledge anything. You already know it hurt me a lot. :(
(4)I've seen people taking time for excuse, seriously? Like any other job they are accountable of what they do and how they use their time. It's bad writing. When you chose to write arcs it means that in everyone of them, you have a beginning, a middle and a end, and an opening for something else. But resolution doesn't just kill the bad guy, which basically all the finale did and GR, nothing else... bad writing again. And that ridiculous ending and cliffhanger... As for FS nothing, the void,
(5) no discussion, no meaningful interactions, no smiles, no relationship status. Complete nonsense! All of their build up, pumped up storylines fell flat at the end and the wins were for someone else (daisy, radcliffe, GR) and back to being support character. What did Jemma do at the end? she didn't save Fitz, she just killed a fake dad and shoot an unwoundable Aida... And all the tease around them with their forever love for nothing, its cool to say it but show it, and not just them telling
(6)other people that they love each other. WTF!? FS season without FS in it Bravo! -- Not even a tiny pay off... I have no illusion it would change because I'm sure they don't know how to write them out of angst, and if they are apart again. No thank you. Sorry Jane i talked a lot but i'm really not hyped in any way by s5, I loved my fun spy show with FS as main interest. ^^ Now it's the shadow of it. Anyway thank you Jane for being always amazing! Love you very much
Hey there!
I have to admit, I was disappointed and underwhelmed by the finale, too. GR felt like a deus ex machina, FS was not resolved, and the whole thing was so rushed that I didn’t really care much that they were in space. They crammed too much in for there to be any time for the emotional impact to be felt. Becoming GR, really, was enough of a twist that they didn’t need to add going into space. And actually, if I had to pick between the two twists, I would have just done going into space. Tricking AIDA seemed like a flimsy reason for becoming GR.
(Really, the only thing I can think of is that they were picked up and sent into space BECAUSE he’s the new GR, and that somehow makes him a part of this war Robbie was talking about. Either way, it was too much in too little time. There had to have been a better way to structure that.)
BUT, I will say that it’s hard to compare a network TV show to any other form of media, ESPECIALLY fanfiction. When I write, the story is exactly the length it needs to be, I can involve any character and plot lines I like, and I can literally take years to finish it if I want to. Network TV is different. ABC tells them how many episodes they get and when the episodes will air. They couldn’t add a 23rd episode even if they wanted to, they had to involve ALL the characters because of the actors’ contracts (which is why the birthday video happens in 4722 Hours; they had to get Clark and Chloe in there somehow), and they had to work around things like commercial breaks. Network TV is a very complicated thing with a lot of factors going into it that I, luckily, do not have to deal with as a writer. So when people say they didn’t have time, it’s true that they had a limited amount of time. Could they have made a better use of their time? Certainly. But we must acknowledge that they have limitations we don’t have.
The real mistake they made, I think, was that they spent too much time in the Framework and not enough time in the aftermath. They had a big story, and due to the restrictions ABC gave them, they only had seven episodes in which to tell it. In my opinion, the only way to fit everything in was to make the story a little smaller, and they didn’t want to do that, so we have what we have. A lot of the things they added in were the “rewards” they promised the fans, namely, the return of favorite characters. Maybe you didn’t care for them, but they were the fun parts of this arc that helped add to the balance.
Of course, I think they focused too much on Evil Fitz and his relationship with AIDA for it to be truly balanced. That’s where all the pain came from, in my experience at least—they went too far showing how EVIL Fitz could be without showing a proper resolution. This is a problem with the greater MCU in general, though—it’s usually all pain, little gain. They need to learn how to tone down the pain or increase the resolution if they truly want to give their fans a satisfying ending.
Unfortunately, I don’t think they see it that way. Jemma shooting AIDA was supposed to be part of the resolution of Jemma’s arc, but I would have happily traded it for a chance for FitzSimmons to finish their conversation, because that’s what we really needed for a resolution. We actually had PLENTY of FitzSimmons love in this arc. Jemma declared her love more openly and boldly than we’ve ever seen her, and Fitz declared his love for her at great risk. You know what we were missing? Them declaring their love to EACH OTHER. Them being TOGETHER after they spent so long being torn apart! And you know, I don’t know if we needed a full conversation. We needed Jemma’s Amen, surely, and then Fitz reaching for her hand in the diner. They had enough time for that. All he had to do was reach for her hand, and for them to share a look and a smile. That would have told us, at least, where they were and where they were going. Elizabeth and Iain are good enough to make that mean more than ten minutes of conversation. But they didn’t add it in because they thought the love declarations and the hug were enough.
So really, the best way to look at it is as of the hug WAS their resolution. Jemma heard his love confession, she gave Fitz the support he needed, and then they apparently resumed their relationship. It’s a big blank to fill in, but I think that’s what they meant to portray.
Anyway, I understand missing the fun spy show with FS! I feel that way, too. Sometimes I feel like we’ve been cheated because we were hooked with a ship that was always together, and now they’re NEVER together. I wish they would bring back some of the humor and togetherness. They do have their more cheerful moments, like when Trip came back, but I definitely think we could use a lot more of the fun we fell in love with. All we can do is send our feedback and hope they listen.

1. I suppose they talked rather about the Framework' version of Jemma/Trip, not the real story, but you're right, it is unlikely. We’ll see what happens and if "what if" scenarios and all 3 pod could complete and "balance" the story, the team and FS:) A small addition to my whining: I don't belong to those who have grievances to the writers when they tell their own and not "my" story, but I hate it when the story is inconsistent.
2. But for now we're in season 4:), we’ll see what happens. That's a pity that we cannot see how the world would look with Jemma's healed greatest regret, but it's understandable that we cannot get both of stories (Fitz' and Jemma's) in one plot. Thanks and regards, Mary:)
I mean, really, she is plugging herself into an unknown machine-run world in order to save the man that, as she heavily implied, she wants to marry. But shippers are shippers, and people can believe as they want.
For me, what we need to balance the story is for Jemma to be the hero and save the man she loves. Fitz has saved her over and over again; she hasn’t had a chance since season 1. We need a new story.
We need to see Jemma exert her strength and agency and save the day. She’s fully capable of doing that, and has been since the beginning! But when Fitz is in trouble, Mack or May or someone saves him before she can get there. And when you add in all the times Jemma is wrong because she’s given inaccurate/incomplete information, I mean, I just want her to win one! Maveth should have been an opportunity to win one, but it wasn’t! How did that happen?
So, I mean, you’re talking about inconsistencies, and you’re right. The way they handled Jemma in 3A is a great example. She has PTSD, she doesn’t have PTSD; she’s okay to work in the lab, she’s nowhere near the lab; etc. etc. I think that bothered me and others a lot more because there was so much promise in the Maveth story for her, and it ended up being Fitz’s story. If the inconsistencies were minor and didn’t stack up to a fake trail of clues, I could ignore it. That said, I think Jemma has been handled a lot better this season, where we’ve seen her fight for her team and what she believes in.
3A was a story I didn’t want, and it was poorly told. 4A was a story I didn’t want (because they were separated and keeping secrets), but it was fine. Could have used more kisses, but Fitz had a story and Jemma had a story, and they had a story together. 4B was even better! So, I know what you mean. Sometimes the story goes a different way than you thought, and it’s GREAT. I wanted FitzSimmons vs. LMDs last episode, but Jemma vs. LMD Fitz gave us some fantastic moments. In the end, you can write fanfiction if you want it all to work out the way you want right away (I should know)! But you’re watching a story someone else is telling, there’s going to be things you don’t anticipate or would choose. If it’s a solid story, you can still enjoy it. The problem is when you encounter cheap gotcha moments when you’re being manipulated by the writers, so I hope we don’t have any more of those in our future. They’ve been pretty good for the past 15 episodes.
As for seeing inside Jemma’s head, that is the opposite of what I want in this context, because it hasn’t been set up, and it makes her the victim yet again. As for her regrets, she’s probably going to confront those in the Framework, anyway. She's going to get there and find out that Fitz is fine without her in his life. This isn’t something she’s ever encountered before—Fitz’s feelings came first and were constant; she’s always been in the position of deciding whether to accept or reject those feelings. So, right now, she’s not only in the complete opposite circumstances, but Fitz might not even know who she is. She may have to start over from scratch. So, like Fitz in 3A, she’s going to have to decide how committed she is, and how far she’s willing to go. She’s going to have to dig deep, and digging that deep will unearth things she’s not proud of that she will need to confront.
So we might actually get a little bit of both! That’s how it looks to me, anyway. We’ll see how it is when we get there. I think you’re wise to be cautious. I am a pessimist or an optimist depending on the day, and today it’s looking good to me. :)

Hi...I just saw the last ep and I... really don't feel fine. :((( Once again no Fitzsimmons... x( How the hell did we end up there? with this insignificant on-screen time. I want season 1 Fitzsimmons' screentime back, 10min of them by episode talking, doing science, bickering even being happy for a change. I'm down with the dark tone, dark theme, dark whatever... dark is definitely not better!!They are the "jewel" of this show since the beginning (1)
and I really don’t understand the idea of diminishing “them” even more every freaking season. It’s worse than season 2 how the hell did it happen? I don’t want to wait 15ep every year to get something “good”, when did this become the norm and a good idea!?!? It’s bad and terrible writing. :/ And I don’t care about them having individual stories for a long time now, we already saw that and it was not the time to do that anyway.
And the frustration was on when they would get their shit together and be together. They have passed that point now, so this artificial frustration they create makes no sense and they make it last. They work together for over a decade and they know each other by heart, their qualities, their flaws and even probably every mood, every breath almost everything of each other and now just like by “magic” their work is a problem in their relationship, it’s total non-sense
And I’m down rationalizing it to make it works, it just legitimates the writers’ choices and it is plenty wrong, they need to know that it’s all crap, and that some people are angry and sad and etc. Jemma’s statement on the lack of Fitz felt like a finger from the writers, and I don’t even want to talk about the generalization on men that I’ve read… :(I don’t want fiction to be “life-like”, life is an ice cold shitty desert, fiction is my escape plan, and Fitzsimmons are better and deserve better than that. They are my hope and light and I don’t want their relationship to be off-screen, there is no point in that.I feel so empty and sad and desperate… and I’m actually crying writing this message, and this is so completely the opposite of what I had expected to feel for when they got together… :’(( And worse than that I feel like I betray/failed the show, failed THEM by not loving the show anymore.:’(
I know people will think I’m ridiculous and maybe I’m a terrible person but it’s what I feel… I’ll let them mid-season to get better but if not it fucking breaks my heart but I’ll be done with it, they manage to destroy my pleasure, my cheerfulness to watch the show, I didn’t think it was possible… :’( I’m so sorry to inflict you that, you are an amazing kind person and member of the fandom but I needed to tell someone that
I’m down rationalizing writers choices, it just legitimates them… I know it’s not a question and it’s probably my “last ask” because I don’t see any light coming, you can call it a rant, a painful comment, a cry for help, a farewell… and you can published it or not, it’s really not that important. :) But thank you very much for all your time, explanation and kindness. :) Once again I’m really sorry…
Hi Anon!
I am sorry to hear how frustrated you are. And I want to sincerely apologize if my metas are contributing to this.  By nature I am what my family calls a ‘fixer’ and I try to make everyone happy and put a positive spin on things.
EVERYONE is entitled to their own opinion and feelings on things.  You have every right to feel upset, betrayed, and frustrated right now.  We were downright misled by Jed.  I know I do.  I waited a LONG time for Fitzsimmons to be canon, I couldn’t wait to see what that would look like, and needless to say what we’ve seen hasn’t been what anyone expected.
This is my escape too, you all have no idea how much being on here, answering asks, chatting, and doing metas has helped me these last few months of recovery.  And its hard when that escape causes stress or isn’t an escape anymore.
As hard as it is not to get the shippy moments I was hoping for I really did enjoy the last episode.  Jemma had an awesome episode.  Fitz had an awesome episode.   And I want to support them as individual characters as them as a couple  Because, yes, Lil and Iain are the heart of the show.  Fitz and Simmons are the heart of the team..  I think Iain  especially has a very strong arc coming with LMD and the Radcliffe fall out.  I personally (my opinion) would rather see them dealing with angst on individual arcs rather  and real couple issues than a ton of angst in their relationship in order to give them more screen time.  Because AOS is not a romance driven show, is a very small component of everything else going on.  We see little from most couples after they get together.  We’ve gotten more Fitzsimmons shippy stuff after they got together than StaticQuake did, and that ship had one of the shows main characters in it.
That is not to say this is all okay.  Relationship frustration being part of the story or no, the writers could “throw us a bone” at some point, take 2 seconds to assure the fandom and give us something to buoy us until the next time they can be together.  We got a fantastic one in 07, despite them hardly seeing each other.  For me 07 was a very strong episode in terms of FItzsimmons as we got validations from EVERYONE else at how much they meant to each other.  .
I did THIS post yesterday that gave me a lot of peace of mind.  That while months have passed for us, in terms of the characters less than a week has gone by.  Fitzsimmons have barely had time to sleep, let alone sit down and talk about the love nest and hurt feelings from having to hide AIDA.
The other thing I know is at this point in the season
Sunshine and rainbows now = Pain coming
Pain now = Sunshine and rainbows around the finale
I look at where we were this time in B.  I did a lot of asks then.  A lot of people where we are now.  Mad, frustrated, and feeling hopeless that we’d get Fitzsimmons together.  We didn’t get the aftermath of Maveth I’d envisioned, no good conversations or discussions of feelings.  There they hardly had screen time as they set up Huntingbirds departure.  Heck  I am sure some on here were ready just to deck me when I kept saying be patient, it will happen.  And the BIG difference we had in B vs now is we don’t have that carrot.  In B we had the undercover pic that told us something good was coming.  Because it came back later we had the cast doing cons and we got talk of kisses (present and plural) to help us too.
So I’m going to say now what I did then.   Hang in there good things will come.  Pain and suffering now means that something good will be coming.  I can’t say when this time, but something good is coming.  They are aware of how important this ship is to the show.  They are on social media they see/get the tweets demanding more.  They know what spoilers are being shared and asked at the entertainment sites.  And I know some from the show pop onto Tumblr.  They set up the ‘separation frustration’ for a reason.  And like Space BF was one contrived roadblock too far they are getting to the point where the the separation frustration has reached a breaking point too.
We get them at the very least in the same room next week.  We see them in the lab with Talbot.  Don’t get hopes up too high, but they MIGHT be at the base ‘alone’.  And just because they get a scene together it doesn’t mean its going to be a super happy one.  They still have issues to work out surrounding AIDA.  But at least one of them isn’t lost in the woods with Mace, Mack, and Coulson. May and Daisy were on the Quin Jet.  Daisy, Coulson, Mack, and I expect Mace are at that speech  That’s not to say one or both don’t have to head out later but they will at least get some time together.
This season feels like its been going for a long time and it has.  I personally feel this is contributing to the frustration factor.  All the breaks thanks to the election and holiday and we only have 9 eps in the books, that leaves 13 episodes to go.  Plenty of time for Fitzsimmons stuff.  This point last season we had just hit Closure…and look how far we came after Closure.  Every season has had at least one really good, solid, Fitzsimmons episode.  Season 1 FZZT (6), Season 2 Afterlife (16), and Season 3 The Singularity (18) are a few examples.  All came at different points in the season….though the last two were more in the back half.
I hope everyone knows my opinion and takes on this are my own.  I put out metas, theories, answer asks and hope they help others.   But I don’t expect anyone to feel the same way I do about story lines. Just because I enjoy one doesn’t mean you have to too.  Just as just because I have gotten to a okay place with the separation/frustration doesn’t mean you still can’t be upset with it.  Everyone enjoys and watches for different reasons.  I completely adore Fitzsimmons as a couple and want to see more of it but I am also enjoying them having their own story lines and am excited to see the Fitz/Radcliffe one play out.
I don’t know if my rambling helps at all but you do what you need to do to take care of yourself and I don’t know who you are but you are a valued member of the fandom and would hate to lose you.
