I need to preface that i genuinely dont want to be argumenative or come off as snarky or anything so i hope it doesnt seem that way, i know its easy to misidentify tone over the internet n such
Im just wondering if you're pro captive cetaceans entirely, or just pro "people are going to keep them Regardless so may as well advocate for the best we can for them"
I can't say i'm an expert on those animals in the slightest, but my personal surface understanding is with how large, intelligent, and complex they are, i would immediately venture to guess there's no way to totally ethically keep them in captivity. I could be totally wrong! I will openly admit i watched blackfish when i was younger and while it's stuck with me, i recognize now it's a lot of unnecessary fear mongering and a disgusting play by play of an innocent woman's death. I don't want to say my knowledge wholly comes from that "documentary" especially considering we briefly studied whales in school, but that could also be obscuring my view?
I'm just genuinely curious about your take since you're so passionate about these animals specifically. I can kinda find parallels considering i have a few small parrots, and knowing what i know now i can't agree with the breeding and sale of those animals for profit, but i do advocate existing parrots get the best care they possibly can in households fit for them seeing as you can't just throw them back in the wild.

At this time, I do believe it's possible to ethically keep certain cetacean species in human care (for example, bottlenose dolphins). As for others (namely orcas), I think it's a more complicated issue. Many of the facilities housing cetaceans, even ones I support and consider "good zoos," are not all they could be, and I hope to use my future position as a veterinarian to advocate for better, more enriching habitats and more natural social structures. I don't approve of capturing any animals, particularly cetaceans, from the wild, except in circumstances where the animal will die if not taken into human care (i.e. stranded dolphin calves, problem bears and sea lions, cull elephants) or for conservation purposes if a species is in imminent danger of extinction (as was the case with California condors and American red wolves). I think the original orca captures were undoubtedly wrong, but I also believe clamoring to "free" the few remaining wild-born whales and their descendents is very foolish. I do support breeding in accredited zoological institutions, not only for maintaing a viable population in human care, but also since reproductive and parental behavior are extremely important to cetacean welfare. Here's a link to Dr. Holly Muraco speaking informally on the topic.
However, for all the public awe and outrage dolphins inspire, very little actual scientific work has been done on captive cetacean welfare. Folks just seemed to jump straight to "let's release them into dubious sea pen 'sanctuaries' run by people without any practical marine mammal experience" rather than "how do we improve the situations the animals are currently in," the latter of which is a cause both "pro caps" and "anti caps" can and should unite on. Dr. Isabella Clegg is a PhD scientist who's already done a lot of fantastic research into dolphin welfare... you can look at her website here... and I hope future animal advocates follow her example.
Although I don't expect to, I'm always open to changing my mind as I gain more experience and new information becomes available, and I completely respect people who come to a well-informed conclusion against cetaceans in human care and are willing to accept my point of view as well. OCD Subtypes for the RPC
Part 1 is here
Well well well, we are back for Part 2 of the Roleplayer’s Guide to OCD.
Fellow Ocd Folks, I see you in those tags and I'm going to do my best to ensure those obsessions are represented here- BUT understand that physically it is not going to be possible to list every single one because I am one person. Regardless its incredibly brave of you all to rb and add things in the tags, I know its hard to talk about this shit and I see you. I see you.
Resultantly I typed this out and posted it in formatting to assist with accessibility in mind; if you cannot read it still ( I tried Im sorry!) i recommend the copy and paste method or getting the chrome extension bee-line reader.
There will be grammatical and spelling mistakes. Im sure spacing is odd some places, but you have to understand doing this is extremely anxiety provoking for me so Im just getting it done when I can.
Remember to use your critical thinking; not everyone has the same symptoms/compulsions/triggers and all that.
OCD is fluid. Its like liquid mercury. One day its a handful of subtypes another day its another different serving.
If you are in general squicked about certain topics even by mention read ahead with your own judgement. Remember us folks that have OCD have many disturbing and distressing experiences so if you are writing a character who has OCD and you can’t read about it just don’t give them that obsessive thought/ compulsion. Make sure writing is still a safe and enjoyable hobby for yourself first and foremost.
But ethically and morally I cannot and will not leave out the more disturbing bits. You have the ability to scroll by, I and many others do not get the chance to escape triggering content that our own mind creates.
So read ahead with your best judgement or at least skip around the squicky parts and educate yourself on what OCD is so people quite using it as a Obsessive Christmas/Corgi/Cat Disorder thing. Alright? Cool beans.
Okay so you made it passed post 1 and got under the read more. Give yourself a gold star for diving into this monster of a document.
Below is a crash course it is not meant to replace actual psychoeducation, personal research, or google. Honestly most of us do our research extensively but because OCD is treated so horribly by social media, media, and society in general.
I wasn’t sure where to throw these together because the education tools to learn fully about OCD are very specialized and thus very restricted. I found that many people DO have these experiences with OCD though so I will represent them throughout. I’ll also sprinkle some of my own experiences so you can get a good reference of a person who has the disorder and not just a randomly generated person.

So OCD is made up of Obsessions, Trigger, Intrusive thought, Misinterpretation/feared consequence,Somatic and Psychological Anxiety, and Compulsions/Rituals.
Your character may not be able to list all of these. In fact if they aren't in ERP therapy they may not be able to puzzle these things out. But YOU as the writer should know them. Your character won’t be walking around talking to just ANYONE that they have OCD. Remember a huge aspect of OCD is it’s Shame. The disorder makes us feel intense shame regarding our intrusive thoughts, as a result OCD goes undiagnosed for years especially if it has pediatric onset.
We won’t tell anyone what we are experiencing or why we are doing x y or z. We act like nothing is wrong because to emotionally react is to admit to yourself- and therefore the world- that you have had this intrusive thought and are therefore by virtue a horrible person.[For further information I would suggest also researching PANDAS].
It may be noticeable if your character has an intrusive thought. They may wince or grimace or roll their eyes certainly, but they won’t open up to Joe at the cafe about how their brain is constantly torturing them. I apparently have a very noticeable eye twitch.
Depending on the nature of the intrusive thought it will get more or less of a reaction out of me. Its usually dependent on how distressing the intrusive thought is and/or if its a new one.

You see OCD doesn’t sit still. It never looks the same. You’ll have your long haul intrusive thoughts that are with you for years but then you’ll have weird ass ones that just appear and demand their voice be heard yelling about cars hitting people or squirrels getting eaten.
Some people have similar ones! So while everyone is different there will always be someone out there with an intrusive thought similar to yours.
For instance; I bonded emotionally with a lady on reddit because we both have intrusive thoughts during storms that animals and the homeless are dying. We were both horribly relieved to find another person and also distressed that every snow or rain storm brings horrible images and whispers to your mind that while you are warm and snug in bed someone is freezing to death. And its all your fault.
Some days are better than others. As with all mental illnesses it isn’t CONSTANT ALARM BELLS. Some days it will be all alarms and other days it will be like a gentle whisper on the breeze. You can almost not notice it. Almost.
Obsessive thoughts run the gauntlet from ‘i will/could have/may/may accidentally harm etc’ something that you hold of value. This is any obsessive thought that you have: you think about repeatedly and not by choice, it is very anxiety provoking, it is unwanted, and unwelcome.
Mine run the scale from ‘squirrel will be murdered’ to ‘being responsible for harm’.
Compulsions or ‘rituals’ are any behavior done to alleviate the anxiety from the intrusive thought and trigger object. In short, compulsions and rituals are not fun. they are absolutely not logical, and we know they are not logical but we are forced to do them. Thats why its a disorder.

To emphasize from post 1: magical thinking and the faulty link between thoughts and actions are hallmarks of OCD. Magical thinking can be anything from contamination to if I turn around three times or stare really hard at something the bad thing wont happen. Sounds weird and is weird and we know it is thats why its a disorder and not a delusion.
The faulty belief that thought=action is the biggest hurdle it is incredibly difficult to grasp, at least for me maybe some of you that have done further ERP can attest, that the mere concept of a thought not being the same as an action is completely and totally mind blowing.
Free will? Yeah thats terrifying. IDK about anyone else but free will is absolutely terrifying; what do you mean i could do anything i wanted?
Thats how you face OCD(WITH A TRAINED THERAPIST). You give in to ambiguity and the unknown. Its breaking that link between thought and action. Its incredibly difficult and draining. A five minute exposure leaves me in shatters for a week and two five minute ones had me ripping my nails past the nail beds with anxiety.

Just a reminder: Do not have your character expose themself or expose folks with OCD to a trigger to “ help us get over with”. That is literally forcing someone with a mental illness into a break down and is not helpful. In fact its worse because a person knows about this intrusive thought and they tried to make it real. More shame and some trauma.
If you have OCD, more likely than not a family member or significant other has tried this with the purest of intentions. But it never works like that. Theres a reason that therapists get special training for this. If people want a post on ERP I can make one at some point.

Actually let’s drag me with the squirrel thing as the example- fellow OCD Folks get out a pen and paper and try breaking down one of yours;
Obsession:Squirrel will be murdered
Trigger: seeing a squirrel
Intrusive thought: Graphic images of a squirrel being murdered by a hawk/ impaling depending on the day
Misinterpretation/feared consequence: Squirrel will be killed and its all my fault
Somatic and Psychological Anxiety:intense anxiety, palms sweating, heart racing,
Compulsions/Rituals: Must stare at the squirrel to prevent bad things from happening,
Now imagine if that is every time you see a fucking squirrel. You have somehow become completely and totally transfixed on a squirrel and nothing is going to pull your attention away or the squirrel dies- which your mind is giving you lovely images of btw.
Cute right?

Below are the subtypes with general information/example thoughts/ and how some of these have impacted me socially because apparently some people dont understand that mental illnesses impact their social lives?? yall...
Social: This can range from ‘ i am constantly thinking i did something wrong so i have to ask for reassurance that we are still friends’ to completely unrealistic worries. Maybe its an intrusive thought that ‘ your voice is annoying them’ . There’s reassurance seeking, internal and external checking.
It makes friendships extremely difficult and exhausting. You’re not trying to get to know someone with an annoying frat boy egging on anxiety in your brain. This can also manifest as having strict rules for yourself and ethical codes.
My therapist likes to say she could give us (folks with OCD) a pile of hundred dollar bills and come back and they’d all be returned. Because OCD makes you so strict and morally confined. Which ISNT fun. Like I dont get pleasure over having to memorize the entire Code of Conduct!
Social Media: Its the bane of human existence some days and a lifeline the next. But what if everytime your follower count was an odd/even number it sent you into a panic attack. What if you spent all your time with intrusive thoughts that somehow someone misinterpreted a post or that someone is going to be harmed by a post you made about tapirs.
You may be forced to block people to get your number down or keep pornbots on your blog to keep your number what you like (see there is a use for them! We sacrifice those before actual users!) You may be refreshing your page every second because ‘what if you miss a message’. It's going to look a lot like ‘check check check check reassure yourself double check your posts check check check reassure check check FALSE MEMORY check your post etc’

Clothing/Body Image: When its not Body Dysmorphia it can be OCD. Sometimes this looks like I obsess about a body part and therefore I choose my clothes/hairstyles to hide those. Some personal examples: as a kid I was sure that mind readers exist ( THIS IS AN OCD THING TOO I was so relieved to find that out) and that if i didnt wear a particular hat they would see all these horrible thoughts and it would be revealed what an awful person I was. So I wore the same dumb ass bucket hat for a year (or more I cannot remember but it was a long ass time).
I was once so fixated on being given a compliment on my eye color that I wore sunglasses (even at night) to a summer camp. And if any of those teen girls in that cabin that stood up and mocked me in a crowded lunch hall by singing ‘i wear my sunglasses at night’ you all owe me 40$.
Even younger still I had intrusive thoughts. Like say, if anyone noticed I was female that i would be kidnapped so I chopped my hair very short. I altered my appearance to be very androgynous and even switched to walking more masculine. Because omg if your hips move someones going to kill you thats just how it works. ( It doesnt help I later figured out I was a lesbian)
Your wardrobe may be impacted by OCD and yes so can your body image.

Also yes the fear of mind readers is also a thing; i always thought I was somehow faking OCD because yes that is also a…..
Faking: Do you value telling the truth? Do you detest lying ? Boy Howdy do I have some news for you. OCD is going to try and convince you that YOU LIED. Whether it was on a chastity pledge to get a free sandwich or in a conversation you just HAD. This links a lot with false memory OCD.
Another aspect is OCD makes us doubt we have OCD and tries to convince us we have any other diagnosis under the sun and we are obviously faking our OCD.

Sexual Orientation OCD; It is as it is called. Sexual Orientation OCD is what happens when your brain goes ‘hold on what if you’re not this orientation what if you are THAT’. It doesn’t matter where on the LGBT umbrella you fall you will have OCD trying to convince you otherwise. From compulsive staring at members of the same/opposite gender to compulsively reassuring or checking with yourself to ensure that ‘ no no you are in fact THIS orientation.’
This can range in behavior from binge watching porn, staring compulsively to check that there is OR is NOT attraction,self checking past experiences and memories, analyzing your clothing and your lifestyle in painful and intricate methods.

False Memory OCD; False memory OCD is basically your brain sitting you in a noir interrogation room, handcuffing you to a chair grilling you. It demands that you did *insert bad thing here*. This can range from anything from something Harm based to pretty much *anything* from other OCD subtypes. Which is quite delightful really.

Sensorimotor OCD; Sensorimotor OCD is obsessive body responses. These can be ‘ I have to cough really hard and really feel it right in my chest and if I can’t get it right I have to cough until I do’. This can be counting your heartbeats. Trying to check yourself that you in fact have a heart and checking and reassuring that it is still beating. It can be hyper-awareness of swallowing or even swallowing repeatedly. It is anything with selective attention; ie its an automated process but your OCD is forcing you to be aware of it.
Your OCD makes you aware of the sensation of, say, breathing, and then it convinces you that if you stop paying attention to it you will stop breathing. So now you’re horribly aware and focused solely on breathing and breathing alone. It keeps me up most nights with the pounding anxiety fueled by the pressure of ‘if you stop focusing on breathing you will stop breathing completely’ or waiting to feel that last heartbeat in your chest.

Existential OCD; You ever feel existential ? Existential OCD is like having a very aggressive existential crisis that turns you into NEEDING answers IMMEDIATELY. This can look anything from hours panic scrolling the net to panic inducing anxiety because you don't know what happens after death. The thoughts are like foghorns on a misty sea.
This sounds basic and the only example i can give is as a teeny tiny 7 year old I had a panic attack in bed screaming that ‘ what if im a dinosaur and im asleep and i wake up and my whole family is GONE’.
To be fair I did like dinosaurs a lot.

Harm OCD; This is pretty self explanatory but I will give more details. Harm OCD is OCD demanding that you will/could/can/may have/might harmed yourself/others/any living creature and that you alone are responsible.
This means anything from getting anxious driving over crosswalks because ‘what if you dont see one and hit someone and its all your fault and you hit someone go back and make sure you havent hit anyone’ to ‘im holding a knife so im going to accidentally stab someone’ to ‘ i didnt see my cat this morning and now im at work and think she must be dead and i am responsible for her demise.’
It can be as simple as ‘if i use a pencil i will stab myself in the eye’ or as complex as ‘ i may accidentally say a slur’/ ‘ i am going to say this horrible thing out loud if i cannot control myself.’ It can also be images of terror or racist/sexist/ableist jokes in your mind that repeat like a broken record.
(Please note from section 1 that this is extremely anxiety provoking and not something you would do. OCD preys on what we respect the most.)

pOCD; Tumblr listen the fuck up because I am tired of seeing people get called shit on this website for having this mental illness. People who experience pOCD are not pedophiles, they do not get any pleasure or benefit. The thoughts and images are meant to induce harm to the person experiencing them. Children are normally the trigger for this and the resulting images can be very graphic. Again you aren’t attracted to children- thoughts of them getting harmed hurt you so your OCD makes you see them.
Know this so you can advocate for folks with pOCD in real life. Remember we are here. We are suffering and we are terrified of your children.

Poisoning others/or in your food; Life isn’t medieval anymore but sometimes OCD demands we have a food taster or that we obsessively worry that we may kill someone with our cooking. Personally I struggle with colorblindness so I am constantly fretful over cooking any sort of meat so it’s difficult for me to cook it.
However this also comes as; obsessive horrible thoughts of your cooking kill someone or that you have somehow/accidentally poisoned someone’s food (even if you haven’t touched it or been within a foot of it ) or that someone has poisoned YOUR food even if no one has touched it except you. You’re going to be picking apart your food or unable to eat out at all.

Emotional Contamination: It’s similar to magical thinking and this terrifying prospect of mind readers. Emotional contamination can manifest as anything from intense worry over somehow gaining someone else’s negative personality traits.
Or that somehow by interacting with any role of someone horrible will make YOU somehow also responsible for the horribleness. There is usually a person or a type of person that is a trigger, but it can also be location based.
This is one subtype where magical thinking and superstition are apparent.
For instance; as a teen if a male was in my space or had physical contact;like shaking hands,giving a high five, being in my room etc. I would have to go around and physically touch all the objects that I perceive they may have also touched as a way to cancel out their presence.
This includes wiping off myself to negate even the touch of family members. It really hurts peoples feelings, my father was especially hurt by this.

Physical Contamination: This goes beyond physical dirt and grime. Most of us dont have spotless homes because if you’re having a fist fight with your brain everyday cleaning falls by the wayside just like it would for anyone else. Physical contamination holds 2 things: physical contamination obsessions AND compulsive cleaning behaviors/rituals. We believe that a small amount of a contaminate can cover large surfaces.
Oh, and did I mention its not JUST dirt/germs/viruses. The list is expansive but heres a mixed bag of what they can be: sticky substances,dead animals,glitter (FUCKING GLITTER),negative words or language,colors, numbers, surfaces in general, food, people, and activities. There is also a hyper responsibility to protect yourself and others from ‘contamination’.
Strangely there is a magical separation between the contaminated world and the ‘clean’ one. Spaces designated as clean would be a bedroom/bathroom/workspace where you are most active. That space is where the compulsions and intrusive thoughts occur. Its not I MUST CLEAN EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME. Otherwise I would be working cleaning houses because why the hell not amiright?
A real world example from a colleague would be a young man with physical contamination OCD is struck with such intrusive thoughts about cleaning that they refuse to allow anyone in their room or any animals in their home. But they are not able to even flush the toilet, take out the trash, wash dishes, or do garbage because of their intrusive thoughts.
The most famous would be compulsive hand washing but I feel it is important to also note OTHER aspects of physical contamination because everyone sees the hand scrubbing stereotype.
Other compulsions include intricate rituals, not touching the floor (i played X-treme the floor is lava during college. I couldnt let my feet touch the floor because it was ‘dirty’),excessive showering (2-8+ hour showers guys, 8 hour showers. Thats what we’re talking about.)

Relationship OCD: This comes as no surprise that yes you will have intrusive thoughts that you are somehow harming/ will harm/ may accidentally harm your significant other. Whether that be by physical or emotional means. It can look like ‘ I may have lied to her about how much I love her’, ‘ i may not actually love her and I may be leading her on’, and ‘ I must be corrupting her’. These can extend to certain physical activities with false memory OCD as a cherry on top. A great finishing garnish to leave you feeling absolutely dismayed and unable to trust your own perception.

Scrupulosity: Religion! Whatever that may be! Its a thing with OCD. With Scrupulosity obsessive thoughts run all over the board from; you committed a sin and forgot about it you monster to having to pray continuously/ a certain time/ until its right. What is right?Ask OCD that’s the only person who knows.
We are fairly certain my grandfather had OCD because he went to church for every single Catholic Mass. Every single day. Every. Single. Day. That’s not a healthy amount of attendance(I'm calling you out posthumously because I care Robert!). This can also look like: praying a certain amount of times. Praying until you do it ‘right’. Confessing every single potential sin. Cataloguing and dwelling over ‘sinful’ things.

Symmetry or Just Right OCD: Symmetry OCD is the runner up for ‘most likely recognized on tv shows’ award.
Symmetry OCD convinces you that if *insert thing here* isnt symmetrical or ‘just right’ (a magical position or number of objects that makes 0 logical sense) that something bad will happen.
This can range from the known; rearranging things. But it also looks like buying more objects until you reach the right amount and even throwing out objects if theres ‘too many’.
It can range from ‘the walls are percievably not straight so now i avoid that room at all costs otherwise i will be trapped traveling the edges of the wall with my eyes otherwise it will fall in and murder us ALL.’ to ‘ this historical bust is one inch off to the left and now all i see is visions of it breaking against the ground.’
So that is what I have time for. 9 pages on subtypes and basic information. If you find yourself wanting me information all of this is easily accessible online. So go, be free and dont ever compare people to Monk again. Write Batman and Scott Summers with OCD. Give us ACTUAL representation and not throw away joke lines. We are here. Our suffering isnt funny. We deserve representation too.

So i find tratie adorable so this how i think they got together
We are gonna make this realistic not that “fell in love when we were 16 and somehow managed to stay together through everything”. Nothing wrong with that trope. But like i said ~~realistic
Katherine gardner - originally from washington dc. She went to gerogetown uni.
She has always been passionate about the plants and first decided to major in Agricultural Studies, but then she didnt really like it.
So she switched to environmental studies. Not exactly about plants per se. But still related to the environment.
She sees the way humans are destroying the world and genuinely wants to help
Shes got good friends in college, sleeps around a little bit. Has a good relationship with her father.
Extremely hard working. Work ethic 1000000. Graduated with honors. Got a job at an enviromental consultancy firm in new york.
Travis off to college. I believe he went to a college in ny to be close to CHB and connor. Probably a community college seeing as he couldnt afford other unis
Nothing wrong with that. His relationship with his mom is rocky. So she wouldn’t be able to help out.
Majored in business administration. He takes it lightly his first year, seeing as how he isn’t used to the education system because he lived at CHB his whole life.
He genuinely wants to be successful. To have a life for himself and connor. So after first year kicks his butt, he works hard and raised his GPA the following years.
Extremely good at math and numbers. He steal messes around, playing pranks on people but nothing harmful. Also sleeps around a lot. (Nothing wrong with that)
Malcolm pace made an offhanded comment about how travis should start a new club at uni called “how to steal” and he considers it before shoving the idea away.
During the summer, he helps chiron with any business related things (tax forms, buying shirts, selling strawberries). Connor and him still play a lottttt of pranks
Graduated with honors. Lives in brooklyn With connor who is currently attending college. They still visit CHB from time to time.
So this one time, he steals something but then gets caught. Nothing expensive. A petty offence really. He calls chiron up to save his ass but chirons like NOPE.
So he gets charged. And the court gives him community service since it really was a petty offence.
He has to work with those “plant a tree” volunteer services during the weekend.
Katie is also volunteering there for fun and mostly because during the weekend, she has time to spare.
Travis goes there and is genuinely surprised to see her since he hasnt seen her in 4 years. ( she doesnt visit CHB as often. And even when she does she doesnt see the stolls)
Katie is genuinely surprised too.
First day, they dont talk the whole morning- just planting trees. Katie is still curious as to why he is here. So by the afternoon she asks him.
Shes isnt one bit surprised about the stealing thing. She also forgave them about the Easter Bunny cabin incident as it was 8 years ago??¿¿
Hes kinda nervous and blushing when he tells her the truth. Tbh he had a tiny crush on her back when they were teens. But it sorta went away, as they didnt interact much.
They catch up and its mostly just small talk. The next day, they talk more and katie realises travis has changed. He isn’t as annoying anymore. Travis also realises that katie has changed as she doesnt lecture and scold people anymore. Shes become more chill
The volunteering thing is over so they exchange numbers, promising to keep in touch. However over text, their convo is dry seeing as they arent THAT close and with their busy adult lifes. They slowly drift apart.
Fast forward another year. Katie works at her environmental firm and they start a new project. The firms brings in business consultants because the project has to be a success. One of the consultants is obvio TRAVISSSSSS.
Again both of them are surprised to see each other. Like always they dont really talk in the beginning. Mostly small talk. But then they get paired together for a part of the project.
So then it begins, late nights, coffee runs, laughter at 11pm in the office. Trying to work on numbers and investors and getting the most out reach on this project.
They get to know each other on a much higher level. They start to like each other but wont say anything.
Travis admits katie is gorgeous. And katie admits travis is handsome (not to each other. They just think about it)
2 months later, katie invites travis over to work on the project, trying to come up with an action plan. He brings over beer. And they settle in. Its 2 am. And they both are tipsy.
The project is long forgotten, and start talking about weird things like is cereal soup? Is gucci even worth it?
Its 2 am. Katies apartment is dim because of the lighting. They are both drunk. Sitting on the floor, extremely close to each other. Travis find hers absolutely gorgeous. Her cheeks are flushed coz of the alcohol. And shes wheezing so hard coz of what he said.
Katie thinks he looks hot as hell. And with his knowledge on business she finds him 1000 times more attractive.
Travis kisses her first, he pulls back about to apologise, before katie grabs him by the shirt and kisses him back. They have drunk sex on the carpet.
When travis wakes up the next morning, he realises he fucked up. Sleeping with a coworker. What was he thinking? You dont mix business and pleasure.
So he leaves her apartment. And when katie wakes up to see him not there she is kinda hurt.
They see each other in the office next day. And travis cant make eye contact with her. Katie is super confused because she thought he had a good time.
When everyone goes to lunch. She grabs travis and pushed him into a broom closet. And practically interrogates him.
Travis admits he likes her and she says the same. They’re super close to each other(coz of the tiny closet). The electricity in the air is charged. And they kiss again.
Travis doesnt wanna have sex in a closet so he picks her up, slams her on a table in the closet, bunches her tight skirt around her hips, and goes down her.
And katies just trying not to moan loudly. But failing miserably. Travis stoll knows how to eat pussy.
The rest of the day is filled with luscious glances, slight touches, her putting her hand on his thigh under the table and slowly inching upwards.
They meet up that evening at her apartment. And they agree to start dating. They keep it lowkey not yet telling connor.
After 1 month, they tell connor who btw called it from day one. He’s extremely happy for them.
Travis gets a bit jealous when guys flirt with katie and vice versa. But the two them only have eyes for each other.
Katie gets paired with another guy from the office for some work. Travis also notices that the guy checks katie out a lot, even though she is oblivious.
because of their conflicting work schedules, and how they never get to see each other. Katie working on the project with “that guy”travis is busy with his work, and helping connor out in his senior year. Late nights where they miss each other so much
And thats when their first real fight happens. Hes yelling. Shes yelling. Travis gets insecure that katie doesnt want him anymore. Katies positive they are gonna break up.
In a last ditch effort, she goes to his place. And have a painfully truthful conversation on how they both messed up. They promise to do better and communicate more
That night they make ~~love~~ to each other. Not sex, LOVEEEEE.
After that its smooth sailing. They have fights now and then, but nothing they cant handle.
Their first “I love you’s” is a week after they made love to each other. She was making dinner ( shes a fucking amazing cook) and travis is standing behind her arms around her waist, chin on her shoulders.
And they’re talking and he says “well thats one of things i love about u” and after a second he realises what he said and practically freezes. Katie stops stirring the pasta and turns to look at him.
They both just kinda stare at each other and travis is so fucking nervous and then katie breaks out into the most breathtaking smile he has ever seen. she tells him i love u back.
Their kissing turns to making out and he picks her up, slams her on the kitchen counter and they have sex. (They also turned off the stove dw)
2 orgasms later. They finally eat dinner. And things between them are fucking amazing
After dinner they retreat back to the bedroom where katie is screaming his name and travis’ grunting heavily.
And it’s complete bliss.....

THE COMPLETE SIGHTS OF SCIFI STAR WARS REVIEW PART 1.
In this first part of my series ill be covering the select prequel entertainment to the original STAR WARS trilogy, this is not just a review of the prequel film trilogy directed by George Lucas. It is also a review of the media that takes place chronologically between the events of REVENGE OF THE SITH and the 1977 classic STAR WARS otherwise known as a A NEW HOPE. I must again stress that this is not a review of every TV show or book available, also some of this media I will include in my review is no longer officially recognised as franchise canon anymore.
What this review represents is a personal preference based inferred chronology of games and movies. Unfortunately I cant cover THE CLONE WARS animated show, at least not yet as there is just too much of that stuff to cover consistently.
THE STAR WARS PREQUELS.
I must admit that i’m not the biggest fan of the prequel trilogy, this is also the case for a lot of die hard original trilogy fans out there. But in light of the fact JEDI FALLEN ORDER takes place directly after them, I saw it fit to return to these movies with a fresh perspective and to refresh my memory... See what works and what does not, perhaps see if they are as bad as I recall.
THE PHANTOM MENACE 1999.

What really stood out to me immediately upon returning to this first movie is its bold and colourful production design, to this day it is still quite incredible to behold... To see just how much art has gone into this new vision of Lucas’s universe. The aim it seems was to craft a more complex galaxy in terms of architectural design and contrasting cultural aesthetics, turning back the clock to a time of diverse fashions and cleaner technologies. While it is not always fully consistent especially given the fact it stands in direct contrast with the original trilogy universe we all come to expect, today I can understand the logic of this creative direction.
We are seeing the galaxy in a time that is for the most part unfamiliar with any recent large scale galactic conflicts... A time of relative peace for this republic though we do get a lot of hints throughout nothing is all quite perfect. Based on the fact that the Trade federation does not compose an army of its own civilian subjects, it is also safe to assume that most of the fighting in this galaxy is carried out by automated infantry units whenever a show of force is required to settle disputes.
It is very interesting visual world building.
Unfortunately the movie outside of this beautiful art direction is still, even years later... A complete and total mess in terms of tone, story and some technical aspects. There are fascinating ideas and politics at play here dont get me wrong, but the way in which the story that surrounds this stuff was executed still leaves much to be desired.
The acting is very monotone, the characters very bland (Sometimes incredibly annoying) and the stakes virtually non existent as we are mostly told, not shown the apparently dire events of this plot. What little plot there seems to be anyway as for the most part it can be boiled down to this [COUGH], the dark lord of the sith is scheming in the shadows... Creating an elaborate proxy conflict that’s escalating problems will facilitate his rise to power within the political ranks of the republic’s democracy. This manufactured crisis involves many different parties both human and alien who dont really get developed that much, and for the most part they all have no idea what is actually happening, which is the point I guess “The phantom menace”... But its just not an interesting enough mystery as it should be at first.
We get introduced to a young Anakin who gets some decent character development as he should. Discovering his compassionate side and knack for piloting in the exciting pod race sequence, but after this he pretty much fades into the background... Same with other franchise essential individuals like Obi Wan Kenobi who spends the majority of his time following orders and waiting on a fancy ship complaining that nothing is happening.
Who can blame him... Overall the first movie in this prequel trilogy while fascinating is still ultimately a boring experience. Thankfully the Attack of the clones will prove to be a lot more interesting!
ATTACK OF THE CLONES 2002.
Taking place just a few years after the events of the PHANTOM MENACE we find ourselves discovering the more fascinating intricacies of the sith lord’s plot to take control of the galaxy and build the empire. All the while Anakin gets tangled in complications relating to his relationship with a major senator that will eventually result in him falling to the dark side, seeing his inner darkness finally become externalised. Like with the first movie, this film also unfortunately suffers a lot of those same issues related to structure, stakes and pacing. Production design has also seen a few regressions as most if not all of this movie is rendered in a computer with exception to the live actors of course... But overall Attack of the clones is a lot more focused and competent when it comes to exploring its political subject matter and scifi concepts.
As the film progresses we discover the secret plot of the sith lord, as separatist factions rise up in opposition to the republic and a ethically questionable clone army is ordered in secret to combat this proxy threat they pose. This peaceful, democratic republic is thrust into an all out conflict as the Jedi order is eluded to the true implications of these strange political and military developments, becoming willing pawns in this meaningless war which will serve to be their undoing.
The clone soldiers in this movie are a very interesting scifi concept that I heard are explored more in animated TV show, but what I see here is still fascinating regardless. This is essentially an army of obedient, docile and expendable human beings who like the battle droids serve only one purpose, which is to fight for a cause they may not even be fully aware of. The willing usage of this army by the republic is a clear sign that the values that hold their society together are being corrupted in the name of ensuring security, you could even consider these clones indoctrinated slaves. Charging into battle and dying by the thousands at the command of the Jedi warriors, they are an entire army born to fight and eventually die doing so... It is quite terrifying once you really start to think about it.
I enjoyed ATTACK OF THE CLONES for the most part, its interesting to see how this peaceful republic gradually starts to turn into the fascist empire we are all familiar with in the original trilogy.
As always it could of been executed better, but that just was not to be case... So we make do with what we have here even if its imperfect.
REVENGE OF THE SITH 2005.
The final movie in the prequel trilogy, REVENGE OF THE SITH takes all of the gradual political developments of the first two movies and shows us their ultimate consequences. The Jedi order loses its way and is then destroyed by the clone army through order 66 while the survivors go into hiding, the separatist leaders are wiped out, Anakin falls to the dark side becoming Darth vader, and the sith lord rises to become emperor of the newly established galactic empire.
As the title of the movie states, the sith have their revenge.
Its a very dark movie and for the most part it is well executed in that department. There is not much else to say about it other than it being the expected conclusion of this storyline... Great music, some interesting concepts and scenes same with the rest of them. Seeing the tragedy unfold is very intriguing, even if there is a lot of missing context between Clones and this movie that water down its overall emotional impact somewhat, unfortunately most of that is in the animated TV show I have yet to watch.
To be honest upon re-watching all of these movies I would say I have grown to develop a small but noticeable new appreciation for em. They are still pretty bad in a lot of ways that will always be a annoyance, but i will admire the novel effort.
In the next part of my review series ill be covering the next four pieces of media that serve to fill the narrative gap between REVENGE OF THE SITH and STAR WARS 1977.

180425 - First Rant
Why do apps like fb, ig, whatsapp and tumblr always keep asking me to update to the latest version... i hate how it just takes up more space in my phone. I dont mine having updated service every now and then but not this often... I mean it's not like there's major changes every time, and when it does i'd much prefer it when it the navigation stays the same / become easier as opposed to complexifying everything...

Probably concerns some privacy agreement and all those stuff.. Gosh reminds me back of that popular english essay topic in highschool "Is it worth it to sacrifice personal privacy in the names of development (or was it security lol)? Discuss". I mean it's already an open secret that government and MNCs tap into every area of our lives and know every nitty gritty details of our lives. All the saga about how facebook sells our private information to big companies haha. Unless we're under a rogue government i doubt they'd care about who you fucked last night or what kind of bag you purchased last week from amazon. And unless you did something wrong or in the midst of plannong a terrorist attack i doubt that they'd pay attention. The existing logic premise is that if you don't do anything wrong, you got nothing to fear. Well of course it would elicit another debate on what is wrong and right, what is moral and ethical, and where should government and people in power place that barrier of personal privacy.. but cant people just take things at face value sometimes? Or rather it's tiring to care so much about everything. Of course some stuff like how grindr shares its user's hiv status to firms is extremely worrying since people with hiv are still highly stigmatised in some countries, and the lgbtq+ communities are still highly discriminated against in many parts of the world. Nevertheless (why do i suddenly sound so formal lol) as long as those datas aren't used against us (again another debate here on how much should they know and how much should they let us know lol) i think we can just close an eye, (pretend that we) don't care and move on with our lives. Maybe ignorance really is a bliss. But it's never an option to stay ignorant :/
Not really related to privacy. But while i'm on this topic about technology and fear i won't say that i'm not scared at times at the robotisation, automatisation and machinisation in our industries... i admit it's not as easy for me to swallow the truth pill and foresee that this is indeed the future - automated world where machine takes over and probably exploit human. But again, i guess my fear is due to my lack of knowledge in this field, not knowing what are the risks and safety barriers that are already in place. Yes it concerns me that some of us will lose out to machines and wont be able to make a living. But won't there be government bodies or NGOs there that will always act as the opposition? (Luckily people always looovveeee to argue and disagree over everything lol)

Well getting inclusive is good and yes it should be promoted but how many of us actually use all those random obscure emojis long down the list..? Do we really need all those occupations, plants, animals, objects, and whatever it is in the list... it's just for the sake of making the representation simpler...
And i swear that skin tones option is a slippery slope lol. I know that i have east asian heritage.. but i'm still southeast asian! Is it wrong if i opt for a darker shade that i think represents me better and not the fairest shade.. and when we use the darkest shade (which doesnt really exist in my country's demographic) are we being racist..? Well true that the yellow default solves it all.. but it's just ugly lol. I guess i'll write a rant about cultute and racism another time haha.

Day 2
Does it still count if I do this later in the day and not the morning. Will it help my mental state if I just write for 30 minutes a day. I wonder what I will write in 30 days time from now. I can tell you that I want to fast forward a little bit because I am scared about how the next few weeks will pan out. However I have been feeling this less and less as the rehearsals go on and I figure out my plan. I need to get myself a saxophone if this is going to work. How do you make sense of A streetcar named desire with a live DJ. This is going to be one heck of a ride. I also am finding some shocking similarities to my life and the script such as the need of Mitch’s to want to have a taste of Blanche as she’s been holding out on him all summer. She doesn’t owe him a goddamn thing but goddess help me if I haven’t felt that feeling before. I just think about it in shame though, like was that really my past self and I have to reconcile with the fact that yes, yes it was and I should really move on from it. Moving on has always been kind of hard. I didnt like it when I was a kid and I still don’t like it now except for the fact that I want to live my life moving around from place to place. I can’t tell if my head or my heart wants stability but I know my soul wants to travel and that seems like the most worthy way I can think of to spend my time. Traveling all around the world if I can and encountering different ways of life and stories of how humanity came to be and why. I do love a good story, funny how I don’t think of myself as much of a storyteller when thats secretly what I want to be. Owning it is half the battle and I’m learning that. However, I have watched from the periphery of major storytellers of our age and have learned a thing or two. I am still learning and still trying to make myself relevant in this industry and thus the writing here.
I had a very interesting reaction to discussing the topic of animation with some of the streetcar cast. It made me very eager to discuss and my whole body felt alive. If that isn’t the next step then I don’t know what is. I am determined to make this life on the stage work though. I need to start thinking about how to market myself as a voice over artist because honestly I think that is where I would thrive and then do sound design work on the side where I want to do projects. I manifest a place to stay wherever I need it. A job doing what I love that allows me to support not only myself but to also be able to pay back my students loans in a short time and be able to support my family financially when possible. And a career doing meaningful work to the next generation, through storytelling. I would also like to make music doing it and travel.
Sometimes though I wonder about my vices and whether they’ll ruin this grand dream of mine. I mean I made it this far didnt I. I’ve only just begun in my career and I can figure it out. I’ve been in tighter spots. I keep thinking back to my sports upbringing and what that has prepared me for. I keep thinking about the love interests in my life and how I keep on finding the perfect patterns that don’t allow me to get too attached to people. I keep thinking of my failed relationships and what I have learned from them. I keep thinking about what my station is in life and why can’t I love an occupation as much as the next person. Why I get so envious of people with “good careers” who are “established” and I look at myself and feel weak. I am not weak though when I take myself outside of myself. I’m pretty strong I think and again have gotten this far. But my brain goes round in circles anyway and tries to make sense of it all.
Isn’t that what we’re all doing on this planet anyway.

Remember keyboard typing classes. Little did we know as kids growing up that we’d be in front of a computer all day anyway and that our typing skills would far surpass any secretary in the 1950′s (ok I actually admit that I wouldn’t know how secretaries in the 1950′s would type anyway as I wasn’t alive but I’d give them a run for their money with the average person who owns a computer today)
I think a lot about white privilege and how I would rather listen these days but also feel the need to be a voice the the queer generation. I often doubt myself in group settings yet I try to speak anyway and when I can’t I try to use my profession to amplify others.

O’Keefe had to pay out $100,000 to one of the former ACORN employees after he handed over the entire unedited videos which the California AG reviewed and found, “no evidence of criminal conduct on the part of ACORN employees nor any evidence that any employee intended to aid or abet criminal conduct.”
He even admitted in that case that he was just trying to damage ACORN and wasn’t acting with any sort of journalistic objectivity.
His entire career is like that. He releases “damning” video evidence which when compared to the raw video prove to be heavily edited segments which misrepresent the stated views of the people he films by removing context or chronologically shifting the video to make it appear bad.
By comparison, O’Keefe makes media outlets like CNN and Fox with their horribly biased and non-journalistic practices look like absolute angels.
You’re acting like the one good employee ACORN had absolves the other horrible employees who willingly helped a supposed pimp who was prostituting out underage girls and never sought help from a child advocacy group let alone the police after the meeting. You’re doing some subterfuge yourself. If O’Keefe’s undercover vids on ACORN encouraged a reform and improved protocol on how employees react to pimps and who they should contact after, then it was worth it bc, apparently, most of the employees don’t have an idea of what is right or wrong, including when it involves pedophilia.
No wrongdoing was found to have occurred by ACORN when the full video came out. That was the findings of the California AG office and the federal Government Accountability Office.
Well, half true. The case in California was a terrible case and Okeefe should be ashamed for not following through on what the workers did after he left. But the Brooklyn DA reviewed the tapes that affected their region and found that although they were heavily edited, the most damning words were still very much in context.
There was 100% wrong doing found at ACORN. You’re a liar. There was no criminal wrong doing. As being an unethical asshole is not against the law. One of the employees caught on tape had gone to the police and had been leading on O’Keefe. There was no way for O’Keefe to know that; the rest of the employees did not. That employee sued him as they lost their job and were doing the right thing.
Which means the rest of them were actively giving advice for criminal conduct and had no intention of reporting it to the police.
Not really, the msm just do to okeefe what they did to center of medical progress. Throw around ‘deceptive edit’ and dont back it up when the full tapes are released.
What part is fake?

I’m sure I’m the minority opinion here but project veritas has a history of editing video. I don’t think we should look too much into what they do until they release raw footage. When it cuts to the background images for the “because it’s ratings” part it sounds very different than the preceding lines. CNN does suck 99% of the time but that doesn’t mean any attack against it is credible.
All videos are edited. Every single one. This ‘deceptive edit’ crap falls apart when the full vidoes are released showing it in the same context.
Ok then let’s wait until the full video is released before making concrete judgments.

Combine the lack of interest in actual reporting, and the media mergers and newspaper buyouts, etc and you get this media environment. It rewards shock headlines and ‘fake news,’ because no one wanted to purchase journalism and even if they did, public trading of news companies means cost cutting and share holder profits are more important than news…. so what?

Media mongrel Hearst from the early 20th century made his fortune off of fake news. It was common in the 19th and early 20th century. Some what died down in the mid 20th century; and became dominant again at the end of the 20th century.

So if you’re a typical reader of Salon or viewer of MSNBC and you have been duped into thinking you’re somewhat moderate; than you may think NPR is “towards” the center. But there is no doubt that it leans left.

As a regular NPR listener, I can assure you that they spend a wildly disproportionate amount of time pushing issues that are only important to a tiny minority of the population (surprise: that would be a varied number of far-left activist groups that send them press releases on the topic). In the particular example I’m thinking of, the cause represents something like 10% of a 5-10% minority in the U.S. I hear the same “news” and “personal interest” stories promoting that issue literally every day. The only things that ever change are the names of the people involved (and maybe one or two minor details). It’s the exact same political narrative, hammered over and over and over again. It is literally no longer newsworthy, yet I still hear it in their “news” coverage every day.
The thing is, I’m sure that NPR doesn’t even realize how disproportionately they’re covering the topic. It’s of particular interest to them and most of their audience because it reinforces their preexisting worldview biases…and the issue has been weaponized and is now being used to attack anyone on the “other” side of that issue.
The thing is that they make no bones about it being liberal, and they are at least good at disclosure. You hear how liberal they are every 15 minutes when the call out supporters.
They also have conservative guests on all the time. Congressmen, PR staff from think-tanks, candidates and staff. They come off as smart, engaged people just looking to make things better. Sure, most of the audience and all the staff think they’re wrong. But it’s opposition, not smears
If you just want to know what’s going on in the world, you could do a whole lot worse.
I stopped listening to NPR during the 2012 election. They would have a “panel” about a political topic. The Moderator would be a hard core democrat. Then he would have 3 panelists on. One who was extremely far left (socialist), one who was a hard core Democrat, and one who was moderate (who they called a Republican). The “Republican” threw Romney and Republicans under the bus on every topic and talked about how Republicans were extreme (the guy supposedly representing Right).
That panel would have been horrible enough had they had a real conservative on there who actually believed in Republican policies (as he would be out numbered 3:1); but the fact that they put up a strawman of a Republican on just so he could provide legitimacy to the program was down right infuriating. Fuck that network.

I may not agree with most of y’all on a lot of issues, but I do agree that there are loads of issues plagueing(sp?) this country. Media and journalism being pretty damn high up there. Especially the fact that it is a driving force if the polarization and partisanship of politics we have today.
I am a big fan of government funded stuff like NPR/PBS/etc, but the thing I am worried about just as you are is how can this be funded by the [insert political party] without them having undue influence over content and context that is out out…it’s a tough question with a probably even tougher solution.
Every group will deny and try to fight news and reporting that makes them look bad. It’s PR, I get it, but when that party is directly responsible for the funding of said programming, how can one prevent retaliation when they report on the actions (good or bad) of that party.
If liberals can post salon and mother jones articles 24/7 on r/politics, they’ll probably believe whatever CNN told them anyway.

If everything is bad, where do you get your information?
Consensus and time.
Most of the time, most of the news from all these different “partisan” outlets is actually identical. There’s not much difference in the handling of facts, only the angle or the narrative. So when you’re looking up a story that actually matters, read the same story from 8 different, competing, clashing outlets so that forming a narrative is impossible.
News outlets are dishonest, but they don’t usually fabricate. Their spin is more like a reality TV show being edited, inserting context, or removing relevant facts. Reading all the different edits at the same time quickly reveals what is craft, and what is real. Once you do that, you have the facts.
The news brings you the facts because that’s what you ask for. But that’s not really what people want. Their business model is about offering clarity, interpreting the facts into understandable storylines. They take a complicated, crowded, confusing world, and make it nice and neat. Demand is created for a product that has nothing to do with facts. If the news industry was a gas station, facts would be the gasoline, and narrative would be the snacks and drinks.
“The news” is an entertainment product. News junkies are not informed people, they are just entertainment addicts. If you want to be informed, you have to think like a journalist, not an addict.
e: TV news is especially bad because of the medium. TV is slow, information-light, and non-interactive. Good for interviews and speeches, little else.
At the end of the day, this is what happens if you leave journalism to the free market. State sponsored news would be infinitely worse, of course, but this video is a perfect example of what happens when you try and make informing people a business.
I only trust news that doesn’t use click bait titles, doesn’t use dramatic language, and moves on to something else once the segment is over. That pretty much leaves pbs.
The current media situation is a direct result of the elimination of the fairness doctrine by Reagan, and especially the Telecommunications act of 1996 courtesy of Clinton. It’s astoundingly difficult to get a straight true version of almost any news event these days.

With the internet and the democratization of information, it is not that difficult to get actual hard facts and even read spin from all sides and form your own opinion.
I think most people are just either lazy, don’t care, or want to read something from their perspective. With your take, it seems the only logical solution would be some state intervention or some new law, which would not be good.
That is a lot of trust in people. Most people just use the internet to find the “facts” to back their pre-conceived belief and stop there.
Its how we’ve ended up in/with huge echo chambers as the divide in the country grows and grows.

I sort of disagree about the internet part. I think the internet contributes to the problem because it allows people with zero critical thinking skills access to reams of truly fake news that they aren’t equipped to deal with. I recall a few months ago my Facebook feed lit up with stories posted by my more conservative friends and relatives about how Clinton was under indictment, and had fled the country in a private jet with the FBI hot on her heels. Then there was the whole pizzagate thing that ended with a guy barging into a pizza restaurant with a gun looking for a nonexistent basement full of pedophilia victims.
I don’t know what the solution to all this is because regulating the internet in any way that would alleviate the problem would have massive negative consequences, and would most likely be unconstitutional to boot.

I just completely disagree, and believe you, and others, are blowing it out of proportion. One, I understand many people get their “news” from facebook, but it is not a news source. Rarely are people actually reading the articles posted, just the headlines and others’ opinions and then arguing in the comment section. It is more of an activity than just getting the news.
And ok people are dumb and lazy, but still, the majority of Americans, as they should be, are politically apathetic and actually don’t care about any of this shit. They just want their cute cat videos and memes, go to their jobs pay for their shit and pursue their own happiness. It is tough to see that when you are passionate about politics and see the craziness going on, as am I, but it is true.
And pizzagate was a fringe conspiracy, not believed by many, and I understand that more were open to it being true, but only a very small amount actually actively believed in it. And, overtime, the community who did actively believed in it shrunk, and I believe that is a direct result of continuous research and discussion on the open internet. That guy who went to the pizza parlor clearly was crazy and has some other issues, and was he motivated or spurred by this small fringe conspiracy community? Yes, probably, but again, it was very, very small. So, you speak of trying to find a solution to something that is not really a problem. That is just what scares me, the left and right do that all the time. Err on the side of not making laws or regulations or “solutions”, freedom and the market takes care of it. The internet is much more of solution than contributing to a small problem. That form of thinking, even from a conservative point of view, only leads down the road to regulation and control, and less freedom.
I’d agree with you if I didn’t see people I regarded as reasonable and intelligent falling for this crap on a daily basis. I’ll also reiterate that I’m in no way advocating for more internet regulation, but I don’t buy the free market will fix things argument either. The free market follows profits, and telling people what they want to hear will always be more profitable, than telling simple truth.
Yes, the internet gives critical-thinkers the power to consume a ton of reports and form their own opinions, but most people aren’t doing this. Most people don’t use the internet for investigative or comparative journalism. Most people get their “news” from their television or radio broadcast of choice.
We don’t need new laws to regulate what can and cannot be reported. We don’t need a government agency picking winners and losers by controlling funding or airtime. We need some goddamn leadership. We need a president or other high-visibility leader who can be trusted, who has proven integrity, and who communicates with “both sides” to speak to the importance of holding journalists and media networks accountable.
We need the press to keep the government in check, but we need to keep the press in check. “We”, on average, don’t give a shit, so it’s hard to see this starting with us. The corporate click-bait press isn’t likely to usher a true leader into the White House, and the people there now sure as hell aren’t going to change their tune to their own detriment, so I don’t know how we get here. Sad.

This same video was posted there, and rather than be concerned about a CNN producer laughing at the idea of ‘ethics’ in their reporting, they instead claim that Okeefe only makes fake news. They are burying their heads so far in the sand that they will deny video and audio evidence, that couldn’t possibly be taken out of context, and merely attack the source. (not to mention that their favorite video against Trump, the Billy Bush grab-em-by-the-pussy video, is exactly the same type of video.)

PP does actually sell fetal organs though… totaling on avg. $2-3k for all the organs sold in 1 fetus. This is not some conspiracy theory either. There are published receipts and invoices from organ/tissue repository companies ordering these fetal organs directly from PP to then sell to biotech or academic centers.
Shipping tissues is expensive, they aren’t dumping a fetus’s liver into a leftover Amazon Prime box and sending it on 1-week USPS. It involves very expensive refrigeration packages, fast shipping, and so on.
It’s so morally despicable that they’re giving the tissues to science. We should be cremating and burying the 5-gram clump of cells instead.

While I must admit I am generally liberal, even I have to say all the Trump-Russia collusion stories are getting old to see. Do I think some of the things that are reported, and some of Trump’s own actions and statements seem a little sketchy? Sure. But ultimately, that’s why there is currently some sort of investigation going on. I don’t need to hear about it every day because at this point there really isn’t too much more to report, and to be honest it just takes away from actually debating the policies that are being put out, especially health care currently. If something comes up in the future from this investigation or otherwise, sure let’s bring it up again and discuss it, but unless/until something like that occurs I would rather see more talk about policies.

O’Keefe had to pay out $100,000 to one of the former ACORN employees after he handed over the entire unedited videos which the California AG reviewed and found, “no evidence of criminal conduct on the part of ACORN employees nor any evidence that any employee intended to aid or abet criminal conduct.”
He even admitted in that case that he was just trying to damage ACORN and wasn’t acting with any sort of journalistic objectivity.
His entire career is like that. He releases “damning” video evidence which when compared to the raw video prove to be heavily edited segments which misrepresent the stated views of the people he films by removing context or chronologically shifting the video to make it appear bad.
By comparison, O’Keefe makes media outlets like CNN and Fox with their horribly biased and non-journalistic practices look like absolute angels.
You’re acting like the one good employee ACORN had absolves the other horrible employees who willingly helped a supposed pimp who was prostituting out underage girls and never sought help from a child advocacy group let alone the police after the meeting. You’re doing some subterfuge yourself. If O’Keefe’s undercover vids on ACORN encouraged a reform and improved protocol on how employees react to pimps and who they should contact after, then it was worth it bc, apparently, most of the employees don’t have an idea of what is right or wrong, including when it involves pedophilia.
No wrongdoing was found to have occurred by ACORN when the full video came out. That was the findings of the California AG office and the federal Government Accountability Office.
Well, half true. The case in California was a terrible case and Okeefe should be ashamed for not following through on what the workers did after he left. But the Brooklyn DA reviewed the tapes that affected their region and found that although they were heavily edited, the most damning words were still very much in context.
There was 100% wrong doing found at ACORN. You’re a liar. There was no criminal wrong doing. As being an unethical asshole is not against the law. One of the employees caught on tape had gone to the police and had been leading on O’Keefe. There was no way for O’Keefe to know that; the rest of the employees did not. That employee sued him as they lost their job and were doing the right thing.
Which means the rest of them were actively giving advice for criminal conduct and had no intention of reporting it to the police.
Not really, the msm just do to okeefe what they did to center of medical progress. Throw around ‘deceptive edit’ and dont back it up when the full tapes are released.

I’m sure I’m the minority opinion here but project veritas has a history of editing video. I don’t think we should look too much into what they do until they release raw footage. When it cuts to the background images for the “because it’s ratings” part it sounds very different than the preceding lines. CNN does suck 99% of the time but that doesn’t mean any attack against it is credible.
All videos are edited. Every single one. This ‘deceptive edit’ crap falls apart when the full vidoes are released showing it in the same context.
Ok then let’s wait until the full video is released before making concrete judgments.

As a regular NPR listener, I can assure you that they spend a wildly disproportionate amount of time pushing issues that are only important to a tiny minority of the population (surprise: that would be a varied number of far-left activist groups that send them press releases on the topic). In the particular example I’m thinking of, the cause represents something like 10% of a 5-10% minority in the U.S. I hear the same “news” and “personal interest” stories promoting that issue literally every day. The only things that ever change are the names of the people involved (and maybe one or two minor details). It’s the exact same political narrative, hammered over and over and over again. It is literally no longer newsworthy, yet I still hear it in their “news” coverage every day.
The thing is, I’m sure that NPR doesn’t even realize how disproportionately they’re covering the topic. It’s of particular interest to them and most of their audience because it reinforces their preexisting worldview biases…and the issue has been weaponized and is now being used to attack anyone on the “other” side of that issue.
The thing is that they make no bones about it being liberal, and they are at least good at disclosure. You hear how liberal they are every 15 minutes when the call out supporters.
They also have conservative guests on all the time. Congressmen, PR staff from think-tanks, candidates and staff. They come off as smart, engaged people just looking to make things better. Sure, most of the audience and all the staff think they’re wrong. But it’s opposition, not smears
If you just want to know what’s going on in the world, you could do a whole lot worse.
I stopped listening to NPR during the 2012 election. They would have a “panel” about a political topic. The Moderator would be a hard core democrat. Then he would have 3 panelists on. One who was extremely far left (socialist), one who was a hard core Democrat, and one who was moderate (who they called a Republican). The “Republican” threw Romney and Republicans under the bus on every topic and talked about how Republicans were extreme (the guy supposedly representing Right).
That panel would have been horrible enough had they had a real conservative on there who actually believed in Republican policies (as he would be out numbered 3:1); but the fact that they put up a strawman of a Republican on just so he could provide legitimacy to the program was down right infuriating. Fuck that network.

I may not agree with most of y’all on a lot of issues, but I do agree that there are loads of issues plagueing(sp?) this country. Media and journalism being pretty damn high up there. Especially the fact that it is a driving force if the polarization and partisanship of politics we have today.
I am a big fan of government funded stuff like NPR/PBS/etc, but the thing I am worried about just as you are is how can this be funded by the [insert political party] without them having undue influence over content and context that is out out…it’s a tough question with a probably even tougher solution.
Every group will deny and try to fight news and reporting that makes them look bad. It’s PR, I get it, but when that party is directly responsible for the funding of said programming, how can one prevent retaliation when they report on the actions (good or bad) of that party.
If liberals can post salon and mother jones articles 24/7 on r/politics, they’ll probably believe whatever CNN told them anyway.

Most of the time, most of the news from all these different “partisan” outlets is actually identical. There’s not much difference in the handling of facts, only the angle or the narrative. So when you’re looking up a story that actually matters, read the same story from 8 different, competing, clashing outlets so that forming a narrative is impossible.
News outlets are dishonest, but they don’t usually fabricate. Their spin is more like a reality TV show being edited, inserting context, or removing relevant facts. Reading all the different edits at the same time quickly reveals what is craft, and what is real. Once you do that, you have the facts.
The news brings you the facts because that’s what you ask for. But that’s not really what people want. Their business model is about offering clarity, interpreting the facts into understandable storylines. They take a complicated, crowded, confusing world, and make it nice and neat. Demand is created for a product that has nothing to do with facts. If the news industry was a gas station, facts would be the gasoline, and narrative would be the snacks and drinks.
“The news” is an entertainment product. News junkies are not informed people, they are just entertainment addicts. If you want to be informed, you have to think like a journalist, not an addict.
e: TV news is especially bad because of the medium. TV is slow, information-light, and non-interactive. Good for interviews and speeches, little else.
At the end of the day, this is what happens if you leave journalism to the free market. State sponsored news would be infinitely worse, of course, but this video is a perfect example of what happens when you try and make informing people a business.
I only trust news that doesn’t use click bait titles, doesn’t use dramatic language, and moves on to something else once the segment is over. That pretty much leaves pbs.
The current media situation is a direct result of the elimination of the fairness doctrine by Reagan, and especially the Telecommunications act of 1996 courtesy of Clinton. It’s astoundingly difficult to get a straight true version of almost any news event these days.

With the internet and the democratization of information, it is not that difficult to get actual hard facts and even read spin from all sides and form your own opinion.
I think most people are just either lazy, don’t care, or want to read something from their perspective. With your take, it seems the only logical solution would be some state intervention or some new law, which would not be good.

I think the internet contributes to the problem because it allows people with zero critical thinking skills access to reams of truly fake news that they aren’t equipped to deal with. I recall a few months ago my Facebook feed lit up with stories posted by my more conservative friends and relatives about how Clinton was under indictment, and had fled the country in a private jet with the FBI hot on her heels. Then there was the whole pizzagate thing that ended with a guy barging into a pizza restaurant with a gun looking for a nonexistent basement full of pedophilia victims.
I don’t know what the solution to all this is because regulating the internet in any way that would alleviate the problem would have massive negative consequences, and would most likely be unconstitutional to boot.

I just completely disagree, and believe you, and others, are blowing it out of proportion. One, I understand many people get their “news” from facebook, but it is not a news source. That guy who went to the pizza parlor clearly was crazy and has some other issues, and was he motivated or spurred by this small fringe conspiracy community? Yes, probably, but again, it was very, very small. I am more concerned about main stream news outlets and the left openly saying the GOP is going to kill people and all republicans are Nazis, which is all accepted and mainstream, and if true, I mean somewhat justifies violence, if they are all Nazis and going to kill people?
So, you speak of trying to find a solution to something that is not really a problem. That is just what scares me, the left and right do that all the time. Err on the side of not making laws or regulations or “solutions”, freedom and the market takes care of it. The internet is much more of solution than contributing to a small problem. That form of thinking, even from a conservative point of view, only leads down the road to regulation and control, and less freedom.

Yes, the internet gives critical-thinkers the power to consume a ton of reports and form their own opinions, but most people aren’t doing this. Most people don’t use the internet for investigative or comparative journalism. Most people get their “news” from their television or radio broadcast of choice.
We don’t need new laws to regulate what can and cannot be reported. We don’t need a government agency picking winners and losers by controlling funding or airtime. We need some goddamn leadership. We need a president or other high-visibility leader who can be trusted, who has proven integrity, and who communicates with “both sides” to speak to the importance of holding journalists and media networks accountable.
We need the press to keep the government in check, but we need to keep the press in check. “We”, on average, don’t give a shit, so it’s hard to see this starting with us. The corporate click-bait press isn’t likely to usher a true leader into the White House, and the people there now sure as hell aren’t going to change their tune to their own detriment, so I don’t know how we get here. There are published receipts and invoices from organ/tissue repository companies ordering these fetal organs directly from PP to then sell to biotech or academic centers.

I’ve noticed for months now. They like to infect subs like r/uncensorednews and other alternative subreddits that were created to get away from the shills and astroturfing.
The #1 tactic of these people is to derail conversations and change the topic.
And yet the hardcore Reddit Lefties are still pushing the Russia story. Love it and hate it at the same time. Makes them look incredibly foolish, but in the end hurts America with their ignorance.

Once again, this story is already debunked & confirmed as fake. This was a low-level associate intern who decided to spew bullshit about something he has no idea about. He’s not even working directly on the Russia team. CNN has been absolutely stellar as of late and this retraction just cements that they are an elite organization that goes the extra mile to fact check and verify their sources.

While I must admit I am generally liberal, even I have to say all the Trump-Russia collusion stories are getting old to see. Do I think some of the things that are reported, and some of Trump’s own actions and statements seem a little sketchy? Sure. But ultimately, that’s why there is currently some sort of investigation going on. I don’t need to hear about it every day because at this point there really isn’t too much more to report, and to be honest it just takes away from actually debating the policies that are being put out, especially health care currently. If something comes up in the future from this investigation or otherwise, sure let’s bring it up again and discuss it, but unless/until something like that occurs I would rather see more talk about policies.

The worst part to me is how much a lot of the media alienates people, and how much I feel that extends into the everyday political discussion. You see it on all sides. O’Keefe had to pay out $100,000 to one of the former ACORN employees after he handed over the entire unedited videos which the California AG reviewed and found, “no evidence of criminal conduct on the part of ACORN employees nor any evidence that any employee intended to aid or abet criminal conduct.”
He even admitted in that case that he was just trying to damage ACORN and wasn’t acting with any sort of journalistic objectivity.
His entire career is like that. He releases “damning” video evidence which when compared to the raw video prove to be heavily edited segments which misrepresent the stated views of the people he films by removing context or chronologically shifting the video to make it appear bad.
By comparison, O’Keefe makes media outlets like CNN and Fox with their horribly biased and non-journalistic practices look like absolute angels.
You’re acting like the one good employee ACORN had absolves the other horrible employees who willingly helped a supposed pimp who was prostituting out underage girls and never sought help from a child advocacy group let alone the police after the meeting. You’re doing some subterfuge yourself. If O’Keefe’s undercover vids on ACORN encouraged a reform and improved protocol on how employees react to pimps and who they should contact after, then it was worth it bc, apparently, most of the employees don’t have an idea of what is right or wrong, including when it involves pedophilia.
No wrongdoing was found to have occurred by ACORN when the full video came out. That was the findings of the California AG office and the federal Government Accountability Office.
Well, half true. The case in California was a terrible case and Okeefe should be ashamed for not following through on what the workers did after he left. But the Brooklyn DA reviewed the tapes that affected their region and found that although they were heavily edited, the most damning words were still very much in context.
There was 100% wrong doing found at ACORN. You’re a liar. There was no criminal wrong doing. As being an unethical asshole is not against the law. One of the employees caught on tape had gone to the police and had been leading on O’Keefe. There was no way for O’Keefe to know that; the rest of the employees did not. That employee sued him as they lost their job and were doing the right thing.
Which means the rest of them were actively giving advice for criminal conduct and had no intention of reporting it to the police.
Not really, the msm just do to okeefe what they did to center of medical progress. Throw around ‘deceptive edit’ and dont back it up when the full tapes are released.

I’m sure I’m the minority opinion here but project veritas has a history of editing video. I don’t think we should look too much into what they do until they release raw footage. When it cuts to the background images for the “because it’s ratings” part it sounds very different than the preceding lines. CNN does suck 99% of the time but that doesn’t mean any attack against it is credible.
All videos are edited. Every single one. This ‘deceptive edit’ crap falls apart when the full vidoes are released showing it in the same context.
Ok then let’s wait until the full video is released before making concrete judgments.

Combine the lack of interest in actual reporting, and the media mergers and newspaper buyouts, etc and you get this media environment. It rewards shock headlines and ‘fake news,’ because no one wanted to purchase journalism and even if they did, public trading of news companies means cost cutting and share holder profits are more important than news…. so what?

But this isn’t anything new. Sensationalist news has been a part of the human experience for centuries.
Media mongrel Hearst from the early 20th century made his fortune off of fake news. It was common in the 19th and early 20th century. Some what died down in the mid 20th century; and became dominant again at the end of the 20th century.

NPR has a horrible liberal bias. They’ll pick a topic like ‘The benefits of abortion’ and then discuss the topic in a somewhat fair manner. But the bias was built into the topic and no amount of honest discussion can overcome that, especially when 90% of the people talking are liberals.

So if you’re a typical reader of Salon or viewer of MSNBC and you have been duped into thinking you’re somewhat moderate; than you may think NPR is “towards” the center. But there is no doubt that it leans left.

As a regular NPR listener, I can assure you that they spend a wildly disproportionate amount of time pushing issues that are only important to a tiny minority of the population (surprise: that would be a varied number of far-left activist groups that send them press releases on the topic). In the particular example I’m thinking of, the cause represents something like 10% of a 5-10% minority in the U.S. I hear the same “news” and “personal interest” stories promoting that issue literally every day. The only things that ever change are the names of the people involved (and maybe one or two minor details). It’s the exact same political narrative, hammered over and over and over again. It is literally no longer newsworthy, yet I still hear it in their “news” coverage every day.
The thing is, I’m sure that NPR doesn’t even realize how disproportionately they’re covering the topic. It’s of particular interest to them and most of their audience because it reinforces their preexisting worldview biases…and the issue has been weaponized and is now being used to attack anyone on the “other” side of that issue.
The thing is that they make no bones about it being liberal, and they are at least good at disclosure. You hear how liberal they are every 15 minutes when the call out supporters.
They also have conservative guests on all the time. Congressmen, PR staff from think-tanks, candidates and staff. They come off as smart, engaged people just looking to make things better. Sure, most of the audience and all the staff think they’re wrong. But it’s opposition, not smears
If you just want to know what’s going on in the world, you could do a whole lot worse.
I stopped listening to NPR during the 2012 election. They would have a “panel” about a political topic. The Moderator would be a hard core democrat. Then he would have 3 panelists on. One who was extremely far left (socialist), one who was a hard core Democrat, and one who was moderate (who they called a Republican). The “Republican” threw Romney and Republicans under the bus on every topic and talked about how Republicans were extreme (the guy supposedly representing Right).
That panel would have been horrible enough had they had a real conservative on there who actually believed in Republican policies (as he would be out numbered 3:1); but the fact that they put up a strawman of a Republican on just so he could provide legitimacy to the program was down right infuriating. Fuck that network.

I may not agree with most of y’all on a lot of issues, but I do agree that there are loads of issues plagueing(sp?) this country. Media and journalism being pretty damn high up there. Especially the fact that it is a driving force if the polarization and partisanship of politics we have today.
I am a big fan of government funded stuff like NPR/PBS/etc, but the thing I am worried about just as you are is how can this be funded by the [insert political party] without them having undue influence over content and context that is out out…it’s a tough question with a probably even tougher solution.
Every group will deny and try to fight news and reporting that makes them look bad. It’s PR, I get it, but when that party is directly responsible for the funding of said programming, how can one prevent retaliation when they report on the actions (good or bad) of that party.
If liberals can post salon and mother jones articles 24/7 on r/politics, they’ll probably believe whatever CNN told them anyway.

Most of the time, most of the news from all these different “partisan” outlets is actually identical. There’s not much difference in the handling of facts, only the angle or the narrative. So when you’re looking up a story that actually matters, read the same story from 8 different, competing, clashing outlets so that forming a narrative is impossible.
News outlets are dishonest, but they don’t usually fabricate. Their spin is more like a reality TV show being edited, inserting context, or removing relevant facts. Reading all the different edits at the same time quickly reveals what is craft, and what is real. Once you do that, you have the facts.
The news brings you the facts because that’s what you ask for. But that’s not really what people want. Their business model is about offering clarity, interpreting the facts into understandable storylines. They take a complicated, crowded, confusing world, and make it nice and neat. Demand is created for a product that has nothing to do with facts. If the news industry was a gas station, facts would be the gasoline, and narrative would be the snacks and drinks.
“The news” is an entertainment product. News junkies are not informed people, they are just entertainment addicts. If you want to be informed, you have to think like a journalist, not an addict.
e: TV news is especially bad because of the medium. TV is slow, information-light, and non-interactive. Good for interviews and speeches, little else.
At the end of the day, this is what happens if you leave journalism to the free market. State sponsored news would be infinitely worse, of course, but this video is a perfect example of what happens when you try and make informing people a business.
I only trust news that doesn’t use click bait titles, doesn’t use dramatic language, and moves on to something else once the segment is over. That pretty much leaves pbs.
The current media situation is a direct result of the elimination of the fairness doctrine by Reagan, and especially the Telecommunications act of 1996 courtesy of Clinton. It’s astoundingly difficult to get a straight true version of almost any news event these days.

With the internet and the democratization of information, it is not that difficult to get actual hard facts and even read spin from all sides and form your own opinion.
I think most people are just either lazy, don’t care, or want to read something from their perspective. With your take, it seems the only logical solution would be some state intervention or some new law, which would not be good.
That is a lot of trust in people. Most people just use the internet to find the “facts” to back their pre-conceived belief and stop there.

I sort of disagree about the internet part. I think the internet contributes to the problem because it allows people with zero critical thinking skills access to reams of truly fake news that they aren’t equipped to deal with. I recall a few months ago my Facebook feed lit up with stories posted by my more conservative friends and relatives about how Clinton was under indictment, and had fled the country in a private jet with the FBI hot on her heels. Then there was the whole pizzagate thing that ended with a guy barging into a pizza restaurant with a gun looking for a nonexistent basement full of pedophilia victims.
I don’t know what the solution to all this is because regulating the internet in any way that would alleviate the problem would have massive negative consequences, and would most likely be unconstitutional to boot.

I just completely disagree, and believe you, and others, are blowing it out of proportion. One, I understand many people get their “news” from facebook, but it is not a news source. Rarely are people actually reading the articles posted, just the headlines and others’ opinions and then arguing in the comment section. It is more of an activity than just getting the news.
And ok people are dumb and lazy, but still, the majority of Americans, as they should be, are politically apathetic and actually don’t care about any of this shit. They just want their cute cat videos and memes, go to their jobs pay for their shit and pursue their own happiness. It is tough to see that when you are passionate about politics and see the craziness going on, as am I, but it is true.
And pizzagate was a fringe conspiracy, not believed by many, and I understand that more were open to it being true, but only a very small amount actually actively believed in it. And, overtime, the community who did actively believed in it shrunk, and I believe that is a direct result of continuous research and discussion on the open internet. That guy who went to the pizza parlor clearly was crazy and has some other issues, and was he motivated or spurred by this small fringe conspiracy community? Yes, probably, but again, it was very, very small. I am more concerned about main stream news outlets and the left openly saying the GOP is going to kill people and all republicans are Nazis, which is all accepted and mainstream, and if true, I mean somewhat justifies violence, if they are all Nazis and going to kill people?
So, you speak of trying to find a solution to something that is not really a problem. That is just what scares me, the left and right do that all the time. Err on the side of not making laws or regulations or “solutions”, freedom and the market takes care of it. The internet is much more of solution than contributing to a small problem. That form of thinking, even from a conservative point of view, only leads down the road to regulation and control, and less freedom.
I’d agree with you if I didn’t see people I regarded as reasonable and intelligent falling for this crap on a daily basis. I’ll also reiterate that I’m in no way advocating for more internet regulation, but I don’t buy the free market will fix things argument either. The free market follows profits, and telling people what they want to hear will always be more profitable, than telling simple truth.
Yes, the internet gives critical-thinkers the power to consume a ton of reports and form their own opinions, but most people aren’t doing this. Most people don’t use the internet for investigative or comparative journalism. Most people get their “news” from their television or radio broadcast of choice.
We don’t need new laws to regulate what can and cannot be reported. We don’t need a government agency picking winners and losers by controlling funding or airtime. We need some goddamn leadership. We need a president or other high-visibility leader who can be trusted, who has proven integrity, and who communicates with “both sides” to speak to the importance of holding journalists and media networks accountable.
We need the press to keep the government in check, but we need to keep the press in check. “We”, on average, don’t give a shit, so it’s hard to see this starting with us. The corporate click-bait press isn’t likely to usher a true leader into the White House, and the people there now sure as hell aren’t going to change their tune to their own detriment, so I don’t know how we get here. Sad.

This same video was posted there, and rather than be concerned about a CNN producer laughing at the idea of ‘ethics’ in their reporting, they instead claim that Okeefe only makes fake news. They are burying their heads so far in the sand that they will deny video and audio evidence, that couldn’t possibly be taken out of context, and merely attack the source. (not to mention that their favorite video against Trump, the Billy Bush grab-em-by-the-pussy video, is exactly the same type of video.)
Its the easiest way of dismissing evidence out of had without actually having to look at it.

Why all of the jump cuts? Veritas just opens themselves to all of this criticism. Show us the unedited video from beginning to end if it’s so damning. I will never trust a veritas video that’s not one unedited stream of content. They’ve burned bridges too many times before this to demand any less.

PP does actually sell fetal organs though… totaling on avg. $2-3k for all the organs sold in 1 fetus. This is not some conspiracy theory either. There are published receipts and invoices from organ/tissue repository companies ordering these fetal organs directly from PP to then sell to biotech or academic centers.
Shipping tissues is expensive, they aren’t dumping a fetus’s liver into a leftover Amazon Prime box and sending it on 1-week USPS. It involves very expensive refrigeration packages, fast shipping, and so on.
It’s so morally despicable that they’re giving the tissues to science. We should be cremating and burying the 5-gram clump of cells instead.

It’s painfully obvious CNN has been hyping the hell out of this story with little to no new useful information. BUT, It doesn’t indicate at all however, that the Russia story is fake, just that CNN, like ALL cable news, is about selling a narrative their audience wants to hear, because ratings are king. I’d prefer CNN devote their time to reporting on the Nepotism, Cronyism, and incompetence of this administration, and shut the hell up about Russia until there is something to report.

While I must admit I am generally liberal, even I have to say all the Trump-Russia collusion stories are getting old to see. Do I think some of the things that are reported, and some of Trump’s own actions and statements seem a little sketchy? Sure. But ultimately, that’s why there is currently some sort of investigation going on. I don’t need to hear about it every day because at this point there really isn’t too much more to report, and to be honest it just takes away from actually debating the policies that are being put out, especially health care currently. If something comes up in the future from this investigation or otherwise, sure let’s bring it up again and discuss it, but unless/until something like that occurs I would rather see more talk about policies.

The worst part to me is how much a lot of the media alienates people, and how much I feel that extends into the everyday political discussion. You see it on all sides.
