When the massive Pokémon leaned down to roar at him, Giovani grabbed its face with gentle hands - “I see you,” he said, “You don’t have to hide anymore” - And Ditto joined the adventure

some of them are articles on jstor that you can access for free with an account!

others are books I've acquired over the years (some from before the current administration shut down the presidential museum/library website, others are from university publishers that made books open access in celebration of something, the Ayala Museum has a lot of historic texts available to read on a browser as well!!! etc etc) and the NHCP also has an online digital catalogue of texts but their website. is very. uhhhhhh. broken, in places. if it's one of the Martial Law ones, there's an online Martial Law archive!

hi! i've been reading your latest posts (and their tags obviously. your tags are just so interesting), specifically the snippet from your magnus bane wip and today's post about henry and charlotte and i noticed how you said a few times that you never posted the fics/wips because you didn't think anyone would read them so i just wanted to tell you that, if you posted anything, i'd read it. and i know that well, one person isn't much, but i figured i'd let you know!

Aw, thanks so much!!! Even one person really does mean a lot! It really makes me happy to hear people enjoy my writing, I try to take care to make it good quality. 

I really thrive on interaction and feedback, but as newer and smaller account I tend not to get very much interaction with my original content (not complaining or anything haha, that’s just the nature of the beast), especially with my WIPs/Snippets on tumblr. Plus, my favorite characters tend to not get as much attention from the fandom as a whole, so as a nervous person, I’m never quite sure when/what sort of thing I should be posting. 

I’m a little bit like a vampire; they can’t come into your house until you’ve invited them in, and I wont post content until someone has explicitly requested it.

Also thanks for noticing the tags lol, I love them; all my tags are basically just a steady stream of any thought that pops into my mind.

Balthazar would define his greatest wish as being powerful on his own terms, able to do anything he wanted without consequence or being beholden to anyone. Wealthy with political power, maybe, or better: possessing fearsome arcane ability to make people afraid to cross him. Maybe even eternal life, right...? He's willing to go a long way for it: he never in a million years would have gambled his life in some shitty backwater doing some ridiculous, stupid, dangerous adventurer thing without the temptation of that sweet, sweet title at the end. Stupid, risky bullshit to possess or preserve power is him all the way down, no matter how many times it gets him hurt. It always just feels like this is the time the gamble will pay off without loss.

Of course, if you want the secret answer of god... Perhaps, deep down, what he wants more than any of that is the chance at a peaceful, ordinary life he was robbed of by the circumstances of his birth. The chance to just be human and live life without worrying about whether other people see you or some nameless ancestor in your place.

👑 CROWN - what does your oc want to be remembered as? why?

Well, he certainly doesn't want to be remembered as an aasimar. I'd say he wants to be remembered for something he did himself, whether it's good or bad. A legendary ruler or powerful archmage would work. Or the one whose hubris or tyranny instated a new age of horror. Also fine. He doesn't have any truly concrete thoughts on his legacy, but there's definitely appeal to being something truly infamous. He would absolutely love to have the reputation Areelu Vorlesh enjoys.

The why is pretty simple. He just loves to make a scene.

Hm, an interesting question, because I think possessions are of surprisingly little value to Balthazar. He's lost almost everything he owns more than once in his life, and that kind of reduced the sentimental value of objects for him. I suppose his most prized possession is be whatever his favorite piece of clothing or jewelry is at the moment- a status that can be rather ephemeral. At the beginning of Kingmaker, it was probably a doublet embellished with golden embroidery that he managed to hang on to over the many, many months of wandering after fleeing Absalom. If he'd traveled any further he probably would have had to sell it as well. It was the most valuable thing he still had. Over time the token given to him by Nyrissa also becomes very valuable to him- he has it on his person practically all the time after her death. Nothing has sentimental value quite like the memory of a worthy rival, right?

(And if something, say, befell Tristian, as has been known to happen, I'd say that without question the most important possession would be Tristian's holy symbol.)

Bless my former fundie Baptist church (and by "bless" I mean "fuck"), because back in two thousand and seven-ish they tried to reconcile the Word of God with actual science by telling us that God is so powerful and we are so insignificant in comparison that six days to Him could have been thousands or millions of what humans consider years. They even used the cosmic clock timescale (I forget if that analogy even has a particular name), where the whole history of human beings is just one fraction of a second in all of the unfathomable hours of the universe. Which is great and vastly more than what fundies teach/preach now and maybe even then!

But then they took my Sunday school class on a field trip to the newly-created Creation Museum in Kentucky, which had and has displays of humans and dinosaurs co-existing and teaches thusly. Which is terrible and completely predictable for a fundie church teach/preach now and even then.

#I was mercifully sick that day #I was fully drinking the born-again Flavor Aid at that point but I had my Limits #I've always been fond of science and was often quietly at odds with stuff I learned in Sunday school/church #and privately at a war with myself to reconcile God with scientific evidence #I daren't bring any of that up to my church teachers/leaders tho #I learned early on that any question about the status quo would merely be answered with 'because we're Baptists' #So when our teen Sunday school class was taught about how God's time scale may not be our own I was relieved #And even dared to believe that God kickstarted the evolution process #I'm not sure if I could've kept both my mouth shut and my good standing with the church if I had gone to the Creation Museum with my class #Baptist church #I swear to God (heh) creationists/evolution deniers are some of the most willfully dumbest motherfuckers in existence #I believe religion and science CAN co-exist but like I said I have my Limits #I was a pre-teen Prophet #fuck that's a rad tag I should have been using that every time I talk about my Baptist years

I think you look at io’s shop & apartment and it’s just,,, cluttered to the max. like there’s just so much everywhere, counting the plants. all the bookshelves are full and the tables are usually covered with whatever project io is doing at the moment. and io is always like ‘yeah :/ I need more space but oh well it is what it is’ and bc they complain about it like that you think that maybe they can’t afford it or something but no. io’s loaded. and they don’t have to pay taxes or rent or anything. they just like their little shop and apartment too much to go through the work of getting a bigger one.

getting rid of stuff is only an option sometimes and at that point the item migrates from upstairs to downstairs and if it sells it sells.
