abt the whole bi lesbian discourse thing. I always assumed it worked like lesbians (and straight dudes) attracted to women would also be attracted to nb ppl that ““presented”” or passed as “female”. Obviously not all nb ppl pass or are perceived as “female” but I figured the ones who do are the ones lesbians/straight guys would find be interested in? Is this an enbyphobic way of looking at it?

okay im gonna try to explain this in a way thatll make sense.

i think the root of the issue is that people are treating ‘what kind of presentation sparks an initial attraction in me’ and ‘who i would be attracted to after finding out their gender’ as questions with the same kind of weight re: transphobic implications.

a lesbian being attracted to a random person that they have no fucking clue what their gender is but whose aesthetic/presentation matches what they read to be a woman is not enbyphobic. same with gay men or straight people. this is a perfectly normal thing. theres that one iconic tweet that sometimes circulates around about that gay guy who kissed a lesbian at a gay bar because the lesbian thought he was a butch lesbian and he thought the lesbian was a twink gay man. 

the ISSUE here is when people conflate that initial attraction with whether they have a pass to ignore the gender of the person because of the initial attraction based on their presentation. a gay man seeing someone they think is a man and thinking oh, theyre cute! and striking up a convo with that person based on that attraction is Perfectly Fine. when that person says ‘oh, im actually not a dude!’ and the gay guy continues to pursue them regardless because of their presentation, that is not awesome.

the other big issue with ‘nonbinary people can look like anything so everyone is attracted to nonbinary people’ is that people of any gender can look like anything. ive seen people i thought were women and thought eh, found out theyre fem presenting gay men and thought oh... maybe they are in fact cute.... and im sure the opposite has happened to others – seeing a cute person, finding out theyre actually not the gender you thought they were, and losing interest. eg the ‘kissing a cute twink who turned out to be a lesbian at a gay bar’ situation. those people probably wouldnt argue that lesbians are attracted to men or gay men are attracted to women based on that interaction, or continue to pursue one another, because theyre not interested in the other binary gender! yet people treat nonbinary people like nonbinary genders are actually not relevant to the continued attraction to the person, and that you can both keep being interested in them and comfortably keep identifying as your current sexuality which might implicitly misgender that person, because you think equating nonbinary people with their presentation is fine. 

some nonbinary people are fine dating anyone with any orientation. some nonbinary people are fine dating gay men. some nonbinary people are fine dating lesbians. some nonbinary people are gay or lesbian or mlm or wlw! some nonbinary people are only open to dating wlw, or only dating mlm [despite not necessarily identifying as wlw/mlm/gay/lesbian themselves]. some nonbinary people are only open to dating bisexual people [because they feel that dating someone whose attraction doesnt include people of a certain binary gender would misgender them – maybe theyre genderfluid or bigender]. 

(plus ‘female passing’ or ‘female presenting’ almost always ends up meaning afab or perceived to be afab when this is discussed. like, ok they say theyre nonbinary but theyre basically a girl<3 with the implication that theyre 1. afab and 2. not actually nonbinary, but rather a spicy girl.)

tbh friend, i actually only didn't make an main ncuniverse rpg/ff board for them because i haven't named it yet? it's working title is project mephesto, i was also thinking about the mephesto manifesto, operation mephesto...i'll try n explain: if this is lame, pls don't boo me.

so the mephesto portion being so crucial to the fanfic name is bc the whole fucked up hub of the tfbw universe i crafted is centered around a totalitarian dictator-type dr. mephesto who runs mephesto labs, a mutant 'rehabilitation' center which operates very surreptitiously and suspiciously ( especially in turns of O.K :) or...Operation Kevin. )

AS FOR THESE OTHER TWO KINGS.......

so bubba is a FUNDAMENTALLY TRAGIC character on the basis of manipulation and the dynamic we see in the sawyer home, but i mean all four sawyer brothers are absolute pinnacles of tragedy. the desolation of the home. the decline of the craft. the thematic elements of time, age, and the era....... alongside being a wacky fun horror film, tcm is a sad movie for sad bitches lmao. like. eldest-daughter-syndrome drayton. desperately seeking outside enrichment chop and nubbins. and bub himself being transformed into a slaughtering machine in the name of keeping his family afloat? its.......................................................... they're all just trying to get out of that godforsaken house without realizing it. something abt struggling siblings holding onto each other and dragging each other down in the process. i think we need more drayton and bubba content and i think both of them are horribly frightened people driven into the dirt by the combined heels of industrialization, tradition, and upbringing. and drayton was once as young and full of life as nubbins and chop top, and he was saddled with three kids and a crushing familial responsibility to take up the trade. and then nubbins and chop were young, were teens, were adults, were looking for somewhere over the rainbow to escape from the very real terrors of home (because lets be real, even as a sawyer, you aren't born with an immunity to repulsion and fear), and the both of them went off the deep end in very visible behavioral ways, unattended and unwanted, or treated as such. and bubba. autistic king trying to keep his crazy little family together and do his best to stop his older brothers from killing each other. deep sigh. the UPSIDE, though, is that these sawyers stick together for better or for worse and while they drag each other down plenty of the time, those bonds ensure that they'll always have someone watching their back. i think bubba loves a lot and is loved a lot but his family is having a very difficult time keeping the house stable. hhh god i just wish the sawyers could be happy lmao

now BILLY................................... frankly i like it when billy is left as a nonentity, i think the lack of detail in the original really lends itself not only to the terror but to our sympathies? idk like you would expect it to be the reverse, you'd expect that the 2006 remake draws more audience emotion (which i mean that story goes hard asf for no damn reason its heavy), but i find 1974 billy almost more sympathetic; i think its the fact that we only receive snippets of information abt him as the characters do and its,,, he's very real, this way, when we DONT know whats going on with him. when the only context we have is that hes a nutcase in the attic and something is very very wrong in his tone. like bubba hes an extremely tragic character and the anonymity of his actions really highlights how foreign he is to the sorority house, to the warmth and cheer of the celebrations.... idk like giving him a backstory was all good and well but i like watching the original and really just going god,, thats just some guy. no one knows whats wrong with him and hes all alone and even we as the audience dont know whats wrong with him, we couldnt help him even if we wanted to. hes a freak and hes desperately asking for help and we have no ideas where his problems stem from, and THAT is really what makes me much more sympathetic to him idk. idk the fact that the working title was Stop Me always gets me jusssst deflated like a rubber ball lmao
