Kaufmo's Room

alongside all of the "NO EXIT" and eye imagery all around the abstracted Kaufmo's room, Kuafmo scribbled THIS on the wall.... interesting. Is this symbolic, or something that actually happened? Either way, it does NOT paint Caine in the best light; although, we already could assume Caine's role in the story is the villain/antagonist due to him being the Ring Master and openly admitting that he "controls everything except people's mind" and the description of this show is about him keeping everyone in the digital realm, unknowing or not understanding how it hurts (fandom wiki).

so it's this story about these children growing up in a world where they have to repeat their parents' lives under the threat of non-existence. There are families lumped together in different stories, with archetypical roles like "hero", "villain", etc. There is this milestone celebration held by the boarding school they go to, where the children sign this magical book as a contractual agreement to act out their destiny. The story focuses on this one protagonist whose mother is known as having the most evil role and even tried to take other people's roles and destroy everything, but she was imprisoned. And the girl doesn't want to be like her mother at all and hates the idea of destiny and wants free will. Contrasting that, the second protagonist is the damsel/hero of the same story, whose role and family is beloved by everyone in their world, and she's terrified of not having that destiny because it brings her comfort and security knowing that she's going to be okay in the end. These two characters are roommates and represent the two themes and arguments of the show and book series, which center themes of identity in yourself vs how people see you, being "good" vs being "evil", and -of course- the main theme of free will vs destiny. There are even lots of other characters that showcase things like forbidden love across stories/destiny, possibly losing everyone in your story and becoming slowly disillusioned with it, and wanting a better story but being unable to have one so you devote everything to what you have despite it being tragic. The bad guy is general "society", and represented mostly by the headmaster whose family destiny revolves around keeping the stories going and everything in line- oh what's it called? oh, ever after high. yes mattel's children's fairytale tv show. yes, the brightly colored princess fashion show. yes, it was just meant to sell dolls. how's it end? well, um...

i took as many screenshots of the doors in The Amazing Digital Circus's "bedroom" hallway

i'm getting really into The Amazing Digital Circus, and noticed the doors when Pomni, Ragatha, and Jax went to go meet Kaufmo.

before we begin, which i'll put below the cut, please excuse me bad screenshots. Spoilers below, obviously!

We have the recognizable characters-

Ragatha, Jax, Gangle, Kinger, Pomni, and Zooble.

We then have Kaufmo-

I'm separating him cause a) the above section has six, and six is an even number and b) he'll soon have an X on his face, most likely next time we see him.

Speaking of X's on the face- there are a LOT of characters with X's crossed over their faces.

Notably, we have Queener, the only named character (that i know of) that is off-screen "abstracted" and therefore placed in the cellar-

Now here is my X-ed out character door spam and shitty screenshot collection, arranged from most "clear" to least "clear", which is dictated by camera angle and by screen quality-

We have- 1) Yellow sad clown with (bunny?) long ears and blue collar. 2) a orange/yellow and green Squrimle (worm on a string) 3) a yellow/orange dog 4) a purple creature, maybe with one eye? 5) a pastel blue/green sock puppet with a pink/purple stripe, blue inner ears, and a red flower (gives me the same vibes as the mouse from Bear in the Big Blue House, or maybe something else I remember watching on playhouse disney...but that's just me idk) 6) purple dragon/dinosaur with colorful scales

Here we have 1) blue 2) ???? with yellow/pink mixed in 3) ????? i genuinely don't know but it seems to be white, blending in with the background 4) colorful jester? and 5) yellow

Other doors have this on it-

This is one of those wooden dolls used as sn art reference figurine, and there are many of them. At first, I thought they were placeholders for newcomers, and this image would be replaced with the image of a character once they join the circus, but no. Later in the episode, Caine and Bubble are in a fancy restaurant dining area, and these dolls act as filler around them, "eating" at the restaurant as other patrons.

My only question is, what are these things? My best guess are the NPCs Jax mentioned at the beginning of the pilot, but to be completely honest, NPCs usually aren't given rooms alongside the main characters. We also see them around, simply existing. First when Pomni is searching for Caine and sees one in a bathtub, and second, when Caine and Bubbles are in a nice restaurant, with the wooden dolls serving as other patrons

I remember an old version where the tree her mother is buried under gifts her golden shoes and dresses, and the ball is actually a festival that lasts a couple days/nights, so would they have used at least some of the version to avoid disney copywrite?

i'm trying to make a list of cores/aesthetics/subcultures for various ever after high characters. I'm trying to look "beyond" the show's princess-fashion aesthetic where Every Single Girl wears some kind of skirt/dress and the highest of high heels. Now, I love the show's aesthetic, and it fits the show very well- but I'm trying to branch out and explore a wider variety of possible styles and aesthetics characters would wear.

I want ideas. SO FAR I have vague ideas of Raven being goth, specifically whimsigoth or romantic goth, while Apple is very stereotypically girly with a preppy or old money fashion sense. I've also got Maddie down as decora fashion or into some kind of lolita style sense.

I was looking at the monastery's handprint and spent way too long figuring out the colors cause the brown & grey/blue handprints just don't stand out as clearly as the red, green, or white ones. If the grey/blue is blue, it's a very greyish blue IMO, and personally, I don't like the brown because it also somehow looks greyish?

okay, so because Cupid joined Ever After I can't get the idea out of my head of myths being a part of the fairytales that get recreated. It's so broken but so funny to me

"son of achilles, it is your job to go to war, be the best fighter, lose your boyfriend, and go apeshit and desecrate a body before getting killed out of prophetic karma" or "son of odysseus, it is your job to go to war for ten years, get lost for another ten, go on wild adventures during those ten years, and return to your kingdom and kill the people trying to marry your wife." or like Heracles???? Perseus??? Theseus???? Jason? Like, I mention Odysseus and Achilles because the Trojan War having to be recreated every couple of generations in some capacity is SO funny to me like who is troy????? who are the greek city-states who unify under Agamemnon????? i just finished watching all of lego ninjago and i have a lot of thoughts...one of them being during the djjin arc, nya and jay found Echo Zane, in the basement. Amongst the chaos, I kinda lost track of him and then Jay reset the timeline. So...is Echo currently just in the basement of the lighthouse? or did he only exist in the now "erased" djjin-wish timeline? People have used that space again, like when Jay moved there to be closer to Nya when she turned into the ocean... am i missing an explanation or did the writers never bring him up again?
