Kitten. That was the one that got under his skin more than anything. Jack didn't even use it that often but when he did it had Tricks clenching his hands into fists and his eyes glaring daggers as if Jack would see. And to an extent, he could. He knew it got under Tricks' skin — it was why he used it more than anything else. And Tricks tried to get him back, “Jacky, Jacks, Jack-in-the-box, Jackyboy.” but none seemed to bother him. All it did was fuel his ego.

“It’s cute for you to try Kitten, but you’re just not gonna find somethin’ to make me mad. I got more pressing issues than a nickname bugging me.” Jack said, feet propped up on his desk.

“Like what huh? Tryin’ to kill the new vault hunters? And I don’t believe you. There’s gotta be one.”

“Oh keep tryin’, it’s honestly pretty entertaining.” he chuckled, smirking. Another string of curses left Tricks’ mouth and Jack listened to the connection cut out for a moment on Tricks’ end. “That’s karma for being so rude. Didn’t your mommie teach you any better?”

“That’s karma,” Tricks parroted back in an annoying voice. “Can it. Don’t you ever shut up? Could I pay you too? Jack, lemme pay you to shut up yea? Like, 100 per hour?”

“You wish, don’t you Tricks? You know, I’m pretty much your boss an’ yet you still have a mouth.” Jack could tell just from the quick silence on Tricks’ end he’d just pissed him off more.

“You? My boss? B-o-s-s? No fuckin’ way. You wish Jackyboy. I should have shot you when I had the chance. I’ve done work for ya. Done work for more people than I can cou-”

“Blah, blah, blah, blah! Keep telling yourself that Kitten. What’ve your last jobs been hmm? Did you forget? Workin’ around all those bandits down there mess with you?” Jack slammed his hands against his desk, the sound was loud enough to make Tricks jump. “Cause it’s me! And you know deep down in that dirty little heart of yours it’s always gonna be me.” he laughed again. “So I'd just give it up.” Tricks bit his lip, playing with his knife.

Jack was right. For all the bullshit Tricks went through, Jack paid. In more ways than one. Whether it was money or a favor, or that gun he really liked. The other people he'd worked for didn't. And even if they did more often than not Tricks lost money doing the jobs. Ammo cost and when the job oh so happened to turn sour because a group of bandits were also there to try to get something his client wanted it was hell. He sighed, putting the knife down.

“You're right Jack,” he'd been backed into the corner, “that doesn't mean I answer to you though. And don't forget that. I might work for you sure, but I'm not a Hyperion worker, I'm on my own.”

“Oh, keep tellin' yourself that. It's cute! 'Cause we both know if something goes wrong you'd call on me.”

“If I 'call on you' it's gonna be 'cause I'm finally takin' you down not because I got in a little trouble. Did you forget I'm the one down here more often? I'm not a helpless little kid Jack. Now, unlike you, I have a job to do. What a good talk.” The ending line came out very sarcastic as Tricks put his echo device on his side. Jack stopped leaning back in his chair, huffing.

“Always gonna have a fuckin' mouth. No respect for what I do.”

yeah so anyway i was thinking about this  while i was gone and yeah this definiteky feels different than before. i think i liked someone twice before this (both girls too??? What???????? unimaginable) and both situations they were like, my closest friends at a  point of time so thats demi as fuck (specifically demiromantic, i definitely didnt have sexual attratction then). but when I think back on that it seems very logical and thought thru like, i guess a want to be very emotionally close with these  ppl respectively but when i thought about it more i guess i just wanted to be really good friends with them and i was projecting some sort of heteronormative need to fulfill a gender role at the same time. 

anyway this time thats not there and this seems definitely more a physical response like……… i mean 2 weeks ago or so when he sat next to me in class was when i immediately got ALL those butterflies in my stomach which was a completely new thing for me… and yeah that keeps happening when i think of him (a lot!) and its getting pretty annoyying . and yeah so i asked some ppl who are on e and theyre like yeah thats attraction/arousal or whatever. so maybe im not even ace in the first place, at least anymore, maybe im grey or something, I donno. i mean i definitely dont wanna be fucked but now im at the point where i have to figure out if thats actually me just being sex repulsed because its a trigger for me or if its legit still part of my orientation.
